Humorous Car Incident & Blonde Moments

00:00:36
Speaker
So you guys, last week, I got to, at the end of the week, I got to see a couple of my girlfriends. um We've been trying to get together once a month and kind of meet in the middle because we live in different parts of the city.
00:00:48
Speaker
And I really look forward to these breakfasts that we that we have. Yeah. And I'm having this like lovely breakfast. I'm there for a couple hours. We're all like, oh, we have to get going to get back to real life. But it was like, you know, it kind of fills up your cup a little bit. So like we're saying goodbye in the parking lot and I'm going down into the parking deck and I go down there and my car is missing.
00:01:10
Speaker
I can't find my car. i know where this going. And I'm like, oh my God. Like, did I get towed? Like, who would steal a Chevy? Like, nobody's going to steal a Chevy. You're in the wrong parking. I already know the answer. I haven't heard this story yet, but I know the answer.
00:01:26
Speaker
So, you guys, it takes me like, I start to call Tim to be like, my car is gone. And then I realized as I'm talking to him, I just had to turn the corner. I'm looking in the wrong spot of the deck.
00:01:39
Speaker
Yeah. So I'm here to tell you maybe the brain fog is real or maybe I need a CAT scan, but Tim is like- think the brain fog is real. brain fog is for real, for sure. what is wrong with The menopause is hitting you, Nancy.
00:01:57
Speaker
So it's so funny. You all were like, yeah, nothing happened to your car. You lost it. You lost it. Or it was a true blonde moment. I don't know. Whatever. Whatever.

Holiday Movie Discussions

00:02:06
Speaker
yeah um Anyway, okay. And then Kathy, the other thing is, is last week we talked about a very merry Xmas. Is that what it was called? Yes. With Alicia Silverstone. Okay. I watched it and I got some- Alicia. Alicia Silverstone. It's not Alicia. It's Alicia. I think it might actually. Alicia. is weird. And I will say, Linda, I now kind of understand what you're saying about her speech. Yeah.
00:02:32
Speaker
But i it doesn't it's not a list. for me yeah Yeah, it's not a list. It's just it's just how she speaks. I will tell you, though, Kathy, I did not love it. like I got to meet, like what did we call him, Naked Chet?
00:02:45
Speaker
And he wasn't that naked, although that part did make me laugh when he like rips away his clothes. You were thinking he was going to get down to like the bear? i told you it wasn't like... It's definitely like...
00:02:59
Speaker
G plus. He was shirtless. G plus. I did like Chet. The show is very like predictable. it's I mean, it's fine. Do I want to watch it over and over again? No. But the character I thought was actually really funny was Nigel, the boyfriend of the daughter. Because he shows up in a Harry Potter outfit with like a little magic wand and he tries to cast spells like...
00:03:27
Speaker
I was thinking to myself, if one of my kids brings home someone dressed in Harry Potter outfit and pulls out a magic wand, I'm going to pull my child aside and ask what in the hell is happening in your life that you bring this home. That was like the funny thing to me. Aye, aye, aye. Yeah, I thought he was little out there.
00:03:46
Speaker
You know, I thought it was in character the whole movie. I thought the movie, though, is cute. It's a good starter. It's a good starter for our holiday. Okay. So, Kathy, now that your kids are coming home, what will you guys watch? Is there one that you guys all watch as a family? I know the answer to this.
00:04:04
Speaker
want me guess? Christmas Vacation. I've already actually watched part of that already. Yeah. I want to say one thing about this Merry Little Xmas because I saw Oliver Hudson and Alicia interviewed and I actually thought that he was kind of cute. But did you know that their kids were in this movie?
00:04:27
Speaker
Like her son made like his first cameo in it. And then Wilder, which is Oliver Hudson's son, played Gabriel, the son.
00:04:39
Speaker
So I thought that was kind of cool. Nepotism at its best. I love nepotism at its best. I mean, I have the kids home now from school. Everybody's home. And we will definitely hit a couple of like holiday movies while they're here this week. So die hard, right? Die hard. It's a holiday movie. i have never really thought that. I mean, it's Christmas Eve. Of course it's, of course it's Christmas. It is second Christmas, but I did tell my kids I wanted to watch Miracle on 34th street and they both looked at me like I had two holes in my head. They're like, that's not our favorite.
00:05:15
Speaker
So I'm gearing up for Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Preparations & Traditions

00:05:20
Speaker
Like everyone is today. I've got my, I got a frozen Turkey. I think I said on sale a couple of weeks ago. So I took it out of the freezer and it's defrosting in my refrigerator right now.
00:05:33
Speaker
And then today I'm prepping a few things. I'm going to make some pies. And I think I'm to the mashed potatoes and put them in the refrigerator. think I might do my twice baked potatoes and get them going. Yeah. say take yeah So speaking of food, I'm going to make a confession. i have not started my sourdough starter. Nancy.
00:05:56
Speaker
I know. I have not done it. It's just, it feels like a mountain. I just can't get on. I don't know why. yeah It's so flour and water. I mean, I don't know what kind of a mountain that is. It's wrong. Okay, Kathy. So how's yours going? well like i Do you have bread? i at least start, yeah, I made some. be Okay. Was it good? No, but I made some.
00:06:25
Speaker
Nancy, why wasn't it good first of all, it's not that hard to make. It's just a pain to do it every day is the thing. Right. But this is what I need help with, guys, because I have done it for several days.
00:06:39
Speaker
And my you know thing got bubbly and happy, and I thought I was like ready to make... to actually cook, make the dough, made the dough and make like bake to to bake it. Okay.
00:06:51
Speaker
And Grayson, it was his first day home. And he's like, oh, you're making sourdough. And he was like, so excited. And I was like, I put it in the oven and then it like was getting so cooked, but like it was kind of raw and it didn't rise.
00:07:09
Speaker
Like it just didn't rise. Like, I followed the instructions and you're supposed to like, you know, punch it down or whatever and reshape it and then let it rise again and then put it in the oven. Well, mine didn't do jack. Did you bake it in a Dutch oven that you had preheated? No. See, that's what, maybe that was the error. I think, so what I like to do is heat up my Dutch oven and then I put parchment in there. What do you mean you don't have a Dutch oven? Of course you do. That do have ah that doesn't sound right.
00:07:38
Speaker
You don't have a Dutch oven? Yeah. You don't have like a late cruze, like pan with lid. No. What? What? Wait, Kathy. I don't have the equipment, I guess. don't know.
00:07:52
Speaker
I mean. Linda, I was going to also ask if she didn't scrape out the hooch, would that make a difference? No. It just makes it more sour. I mean, people stir it in or they pour it out.
00:08:03
Speaker
Everybody does little differently. Well, Grayson a little bit of it and was like, mom. Yeah. This is not good.
00:08:12
Speaker
And I don't think the sourdough- Don't give up, honey. It takes practice. There's also um quick rise, like yeast bread that you can make.
00:08:24
Speaker
that you use the discard. So try that today because it only takes a little bit of time. But I still have the starter. Yeah. I still have it in my refrigerator. And if you don't want to feed it every day, just leave it in the refrigerator. You can ignore it for a couple of days. Then you feed it. But if you know you want to make bread, you need to start the day before you're going to bake it. If you're going to make real sourdough, it does take time. So you have to plan. So you've got to do... To let it rise, you mean? Yes. It's got to do its fermentation. Well, I even put it on our third floor,
00:08:58
Speaker
is like so much hotter up there. And I let it sit like all day and it did nothing. I was like, dude, come on, like rise. Well, I feel like you should ask Santa for a Dutch oven. You also need that. How are you going to bake it if you don't have to have a Dutch oven? I mean, just do a quick bread, do like a quick rise, like everyday bread with your discard. And then try again with your sourdough another day when you have more time to focus. Yeah. I mean, I was disappointed because everybody was like, sorry oh, let's have a sourdough. Okay. Don't be sad. You can do it.
00:09:36
Speaker
i am trying I know you can do it. I have faith in you. Yeah. I was kind of down. It just takes, it's, ah some of it is the science, but some of it is a feel. You kind of get the feel of the bread making and you will figure it out.
00:09:50
Speaker
You can do it.

Funny Family Stories & Toasts

00:09:52
Speaker
um Linda, are you so happy your house has to be full, right? Like, is everybody back? Is everybody Everybody's back. Everybody's home. We've had a lots of extras, lots of extra kiddos here, which has been fun. And the energy is high again, which I love. So I have to tell you guys something funny too.
00:10:11
Speaker

But on Sunday, we had to go to a lacrosse tournament in Maryland. So we were up early. And when we came down to the kitchen, there were like chip bags all over, chips on the floor.
00:10:34
Speaker
i was like, what in the world happened in this kitchen? And I go in the door to get like a Ziploc bag, because I needed put something in it for Carson for the day. My son made himself a sandwich and put it in the drawer.
00:10:48
