Introduction to the Podcast and Initiatives
00:00:10
Speaker
Hi, I'm Trent Maxwell.
00:00:11
Speaker
And I'm Lee Mason.
00:00:12
Speaker
We want to welcome you to our Live, Learn, Survive podcast.
00:00:15
Speaker
Since 2018, Lee and I have traveled the globe and met face-to-face over 27,000 children in six countries across three continents.
00:00:22
Speaker
We've created a series of award-winning children's books, Max's Rescue Squad, and are now founders of our Live, Learn, Survive charity.
00:00:28
Speaker
all focus on teaching teens and young adults life skills.
00:00:31
Speaker
They not only help themselves, but help others too.
00:00:33
Speaker
We take what we do very seriously ourselves, not so much as you assume we're here.
00:00:37
Speaker
So let's spend the next half an hour together with some fun, inspiration and kindness, and we'll try and learn something too.
Travel Stories and Upcoming Plans
00:00:43
Speaker
How are you this week, Lee?
00:00:45
Speaker
I'm sitting right beside you.
00:00:46
Speaker
You are sitting right next to me.
00:00:48
Speaker
Welcome back to Queensland, Maxie.
00:00:50
Speaker
It's good to be here.
00:00:51
Speaker
We've covered a few miles in the last week.
00:00:53
Speaker
It's 24 degrees here today.
00:00:54
Speaker
It's not even... Hello, winter.
00:00:58
Speaker
So, yeah, welcome back.
00:01:00
Speaker
Good flight this morning.
00:01:01
Speaker
Yeah, good flight.
00:01:02
Speaker
Everything was on time.
00:01:03
Speaker
You get a bit worried sometimes with school holidays, but yeah, everything was running smoothly.
00:01:08
Speaker
I'm here for two days and we're getting a fair bit done before we both head off next week.
00:01:13
Speaker
So we're going to get this podcast up and rolling and then we've got some filming to do.
00:01:18
Speaker
We've got lots of cool people to meet.
00:01:20
Speaker
Yeah, a bit of planning as well.
00:01:23
Speaker
Busy couple of days.
00:01:25
Speaker
So yeah, so let's start with a quote.
Motivational Insights and Real-Life Heroics
00:01:27
Speaker
Now, Magsy, what have you got for us?
00:01:28
Speaker
Yeah, the quote this week, Lee, is identify your problems but give your โ sorry, I'll start again.
00:01:37
Speaker
Identify your problems but give you โ Okay, you know what?
00:01:41
Speaker
I'm going to go with this, Maxie.
00:01:42
Speaker
Let's identify your problems but give your power and energy โ
00:01:49
Speaker
Sorry, a bit tongue-tied there.
00:01:51
Speaker
I was a bit of a typo and I didn't really correct that.
00:01:53
Speaker
This is why we're a team, Maxie.
00:01:55
Speaker
Identify your problems.
00:01:57
Speaker
Identifying problems, not being able to spell or speak.
00:02:01
Speaker
Give yourself some power and energy to get the solutions that you need.
00:02:06
Speaker
Accept it, find the answer, find a way out of it.
00:02:10
Speaker
We're moving right on.
00:02:12
Speaker
We're moving right on.
00:02:13
Speaker
So let's go with good news because we just, you know, we nailed that.
00:02:27
Speaker
Yeah, there's a fair bit of good news this week, Lee.
00:02:29
Speaker
I know you've got a story there.
00:02:31
Speaker
Yeah, I have a little bit of story.
00:02:32
Speaker
Do you want me to start with the story and then we'll talk the other thing.
00:02:34
Speaker
So, like, lovely, lovely story.
00:02:38
Speaker
Back in the USA, Emily Rains is an acute care nurse at the Greater Baltimore Medical Centre.
00:02:44
Speaker
We were very close to Baltimore when we went last year.
00:02:48
Speaker
So she was on a vacation on a southwest flight from the Bahamas to Baltimore,
00:02:54
Speaker
When a gentleman passed out, lost consciousness, no pulse, lucky Emily was there.
00:03:01
Speaker
So they rushed to the aid of the man, started doing compressions.
00:03:06
Speaker
The man was not in a good way, you know, slumped in his seat, not good.
00:03:11
Speaker
Anyway, they did CPR for seven minutes before the plane landed.
00:03:21
Speaker
They saved his life.
00:03:21
Speaker
Yeah, that's awesome.
00:03:22
Speaker
So, you know, it's like, you know, they basically, why the man start without having a heart attack, but they were just able to keep the CPR going until they was landed.
00:03:34
Speaker
you know, they saved a life.
00:03:36
Speaker
You never, ever know.
00:03:39
Speaker
Never know when you might just need it.
00:03:42
Speaker
And that man was very lucky to have Emily on that flight.
00:03:45
Speaker
Must have been that.
00:03:46
Speaker
Is there a doctor on board?
00:03:48
Speaker
Yeah, he's very lucky.
00:03:49
Speaker
So it's very important to learn CPR
Education on Emergency Response and Team Dynamics
00:03:51
Speaker
So you never know when you're going to be in a situation where you're going to have to do resuscitation.
00:03:55
Speaker
And we have done videos.
00:03:57
Speaker
on the squad over time about how to do dr savcd which is danger response sent for help airway breathing compressions defibrillation and we talk about cpr and the correct hand placement so it's very important to make sure you tick all those things off and you never know you might be able to say someone's life exactly right exactly right so um yeah good news on that day so what else you got maxi
00:04:19
Speaker
So we've got some videos that we're going to be filming today, which is very exciting.
00:04:24
Speaker
That's going to take us all the way to the end of August to get all the filming done so we don't have to worry about while we're away.
00:04:30
Speaker
And then tomorrow afternoon from 4 to 6, we've got a group session with our lawyers up in Brisbane, which is very exciting.
00:04:38
Speaker
We'll talk a little bit more about that later for the winter of the week.
00:04:42
Speaker
So that's going to be good fun and some of the good news.
00:04:47
Speaker
Welcome Jasmine to the team.
00:04:51
Speaker
So now we've got four people working for us.
00:04:53
Speaker
Myself, Lee, Barney Complaints and Jasmine.
00:05:01
Speaker
She's changed my life already.
00:05:02
Speaker
It's only been two and a half hours.
00:05:04
Speaker
It's very exciting.
00:05:05
Speaker
So there's a lot of exciting things coming towards the back end of the year.
00:05:08
Speaker
And even more so, we're very hyped up, recharged and charged up.
00:05:13
Speaker
But even better, we're about to go on holidays for a couple of weeks.
00:05:16
Speaker
So can you imagine the things that we're going to be able to achieve after a couple of weeks of relaxing?
00:05:21
Speaker
The lesson in that is, you know, I do struggle a little bit with the back office.
00:05:27
Speaker
I'm not going to pretend I don't.
00:05:30
Speaker
And then you just find people that is their strength.
00:05:33
Speaker
So it's like focus on your strengths, people.
00:05:36
Speaker
Don't put yourself down for what you don't know.
00:05:39
Speaker
Focus on what you're good at and what you do.
00:05:42
Speaker
And I reckon, seriously, an hour of Jasmine would be the equivalent to four of Leigh.
00:05:50
Speaker
hacking it away with no office skills.
00:05:54
Speaker
So welcome, Jasmine.
00:05:57
Speaker
And we're all going to catch up tomorrow and have a nice coffee and that'll be great.
00:06:02
Speaker
So what else we got, Maxie?
Lifeguard and Firefighting Adventures
00:06:05
Speaker
We've got job of the week.
00:06:15
Speaker
Yeah, job of the week.
00:06:17
Speaker
So I did a lifeguard shift at Bondi.
00:06:20
Speaker
There's a little rescue that we did down there with Tom Buncey and so on.
00:06:23
Speaker
There's a few people around due to being school holidays here in Sydney.
00:06:27
Speaker
What's the weather been like?
00:06:28
Speaker
The weather's been nice.
00:06:29
Speaker
We've only had one day of rain the last couple of weeks, like you were saying about Brisbane weather.
00:06:35
Speaker
It's very dry winter, which means it's...
00:06:37
Speaker
It's going to be a hot and dry summer, which could bring bushfires.
00:06:40
Speaker
So, you know, towards, you know, further along the podcast, we'll talk about fire dangers and bushfires.
00:06:46
Speaker
But for the moment, the weather's been good.
00:06:48
Speaker
Everyone's been enjoying it.
00:06:50
Speaker
At the fire station, we've had a number of calls.
00:06:52
Speaker
We've had two fires last shift.
00:06:56
Speaker
One of them was a kebab shop fire.
00:06:59
Speaker
And then I've been a sec alarm, so those all responding appliances went to that.
00:07:04
Speaker
And myself and Piers were on the back and we ripped in and got the job done.
00:07:07
Speaker
There was a bit of a fire extension in the flue that went into the common roof space and we had to knock that down with the ceiling hook and some water.
00:07:16
Speaker
And then later on that night, I did notice here, Lee, you've got the zip line.
00:07:23
Speaker
Filter, hot and cold, shawking water.
00:07:25
Speaker
We went to the factory that makes those the other night.
00:07:30
Speaker
There was a battery fire in the comms room and it wasn't lithium-ion, which is a big problem that we noticed at least across the world.
00:07:39
Speaker
There have been a lot of lithium-ion battery fires, but this one was an acid and lead battery.
00:07:48
Speaker
The off-gas of that's quite toxic and, you know, we got the job done.
00:07:52
Speaker
We isolated the power and we managed to stop the fire spread.
00:07:56
Speaker
So, yeah, it's a couple of decent
Factory Visit and Anecdotes
00:08:01
Speaker
I'm in my days off now, so we're back next week, see what next week brings.
00:08:04
Speaker
But then I'm on holidays after that, so maybe next set we'll see what happens.
00:08:08
Speaker
Yes, exactly, exactly.
00:08:10
Speaker
So, well, as I've been, I see.
00:08:13
Speaker
The boys at the action station had it all covered.
00:08:17
Speaker
I was going to say, did they make you a cup of tea after?
00:08:19
Speaker
But they probably didn't.
00:08:21
Speaker
Taps weren't working.
00:08:21
Speaker
Taps weren't working.
00:08:23
Speaker
The zip people were pretty cool, though.
00:08:25
Speaker
It's really cool to see how they do all that.
00:08:28
Speaker
The technology there, they've been going since the 40s.
00:08:31
Speaker
Yeah, so they're clever people.
00:08:35
Speaker
All right, okay, what have we got next then, Maxi?
00:08:37
Speaker
We've got unfortunate event, Lee.
00:08:38
Speaker
What have you got for us?
00:08:42
Speaker
Following on from my spectacular 24-hour journey home, this week, obviously, we're going away.
00:08:50
Speaker
We've got a few things to try and fit in before we're going away.
00:08:53
Speaker
We had the car serviced, the other car serviced, and the filter needed changing.
00:08:59
Speaker
There was too much petrol in the tank.
00:09:01
Speaker
So Andrew has been running this petrol tank down.
00:09:06
Speaker
to get it to like quarter full.
00:09:09
Speaker
And then the guy was gonna come on and do it for us at the house.
00:09:17
Speaker
So we've been running the petrol down, running the petrol down.
00:09:21
Speaker
My car got taken to have something else done.
00:09:24
Speaker
There was a car swap.
00:09:25
Speaker
I had to take the other car to go out on Tuesday, hirgling across the other side of Brisbane.
00:09:31
Speaker
I'm down to one bar of petrol.
00:09:35
Speaker
Said something like, oh, good on you, Andrew.
00:09:39
Speaker
I'll fill your car with petrol for you, thinking the cheeky minx.
00:09:42
Speaker
He's just left me going out with no petrol.
00:09:46
Speaker
Filled it full to the top.
00:09:50
Speaker
Come home, I said to Andrew, I filled your car with petrol for you, to which he looks like, no, I've been telling you all week that I was like, oh, didn't get the memo, it's been busy.
00:10:03
Speaker
So now the filter's not being changed.
00:10:05
Speaker
We'll put that on the back burner.
00:10:09
Speaker
Communication is key.
00:10:13
Speaker
Bit unfortunate, first world problem.
00:10:15
Speaker
First world problem.
00:10:15
Speaker
Then under the store.
00:10:22
Speaker
I've got an unfortunate event this week, Lee.
00:10:25
Speaker
So last week when we were up in Newcastle, we went for a nice 100K Harley ride on the brand new Harley Davidson bike.
00:10:35
Speaker
It was a great experience.
00:10:38
Speaker
Some of the words were said by riding it.
00:10:41
Speaker
You were a natural.
00:10:43
Speaker
And we got back to the place where the bikes were from and the guys that were with, Joe and Stuart, said,
00:10:50
Speaker
Hey, do you want to come for a ride on the Bobcat, which is like a lawn mowing machine thing that swivels around like a digger Bobcat.
00:10:58
Speaker
So you were with all the boys' toys with Stuart and Jay.
00:11:00
Speaker
I had all the boys' toys.
00:11:01
Speaker
And they got me to drive.
00:11:03
Speaker
They showed this is how to go forward.
00:11:05
Speaker
This is how to go backwards.
00:11:06
Speaker
This is how to swivel and turn and so on.
00:11:08
Speaker
So I was driving around.
00:11:10
Speaker
in this open grassed area.
00:11:13
Speaker
And then there's actually footage of this too, which in due course I'll release to the public.
00:11:18
Speaker
When we've, you know, a bit of time.
00:11:22
Speaker
Until then, I will make sure that it doesn't set a light until I come to the terms.
00:11:27
Speaker
But I showed you just again before.
00:11:29
Speaker
We did have a good pickle.
00:11:31
Speaker
So there's only two people that have seen it yourself, Piers, and obviously Joe and Stuart that were there live.
00:11:38
Speaker
And then I was driving around on the grassed area and then I didn't know how to stop.
00:11:45
Speaker
So I ran into like the garage area and broke like three or four pots and knocked a lot of stuff over.
00:11:56
Speaker
And yeah, so basically there's footage of me losing control, crashing.
00:12:04
Speaker
Yeah, so it wasn't a really good moment.
00:12:07
Speaker
It's quite embarrassing.
00:12:09
Speaker
And I could see how Stuart goes, I can't believe I let Maxi drive my $50,000 brand new Harley Davidson, and then he does that to a $10,000 Bobcat.
00:12:21
Speaker
I reckon, though, it's good that you drove the Bobcat after the Harley because if you'd have done that first, I don't think he'd have been anywhere.
00:12:26
Speaker
You wouldn't have been able to sit on the Harley, never mind about driving.
00:12:31
Speaker
That's not happening.
00:12:32
Speaker
Well, you know, it was unfortunate, but it was incredibly funny.
00:12:37
Speaker
And I await the day that the world gets to share it.
00:12:40
Speaker
Might be sooner rather than later.
00:12:42
Speaker
Well, we'll see how we go, Maxie.
00:12:44
Speaker
We'll see how we go.
00:12:46
Speaker
Anyway, right, what we got next?
00:12:47
Speaker
Where are we on to now?
Humor and Safety Tips
00:12:51
Speaker
What have you got for us?
00:12:53
Speaker
Well, here's a question for you, Maxie.
00:12:55
Speaker
What did the clock do when it was hungry?
00:12:58
Speaker
What did the clock do when I was hungry, Leigh?
00:13:01
Speaker
Well, it went back four seconds.
00:13:06
Speaker
I have heard that one before.
00:13:08
Speaker
Sure, what from me?
00:13:10
Speaker
But I really do enjoy that.
00:13:12
Speaker
That's a really good one.
00:13:14
Speaker
So come on, what have you got for me?
00:13:16
Speaker
Oh, mine's a bit long one.
00:13:17
Speaker
So you can do a double up.
00:13:18
Speaker
Oh, do you want me to go again?
00:13:19
Speaker
Yeah, go again, and then I'll finish off with mine.
00:13:23
Speaker
You know, once I paid 20 quid.
00:13:27
Speaker
to see Prince in concert.
00:13:31
Speaker
But I partied like it was 1999.
00:13:41
Speaker
Were you around for that song?
00:13:45
Speaker
Okay, so this one's a little bit different.
00:13:47
Speaker
The one-liner dad jokes sometimes work, but this one's a bit... Do I need to sit back in my chair and relax?
00:13:52
Speaker
Yeah, you have to listen.
00:13:53
Speaker
Is it story time with Maxie?
00:13:55
Speaker
Okay, I'm listening.
00:13:56
Speaker
All right, so a magician was performing on a cruise ship and had a parrot as his assistant.
00:14:02
Speaker
The parrot would always ruin his tricks by shouting out secrets.
00:14:08
Speaker
One day the ship hit a rock and sank in the middle of the ocean.
00:14:12
Speaker
That's very unfortunate.
00:14:14
Speaker
The magician and the parrot managed to escape, swim to the top, grab onto a plank of wood, and they were stranded for days.
00:14:22
Speaker
Finally, the parrot looked at the magician and said, okay, I give up.
00:14:26
Speaker
What did you do with the shit?
00:14:33
Speaker
I had to concentrate.
00:14:34
Speaker
There was a lot of information there.
00:14:36
Speaker
I had to concentrate.
00:14:37
Speaker
I was very concentrating.
00:14:39
Speaker
What did you do to the ship?
00:14:41
Speaker
That's very, very good.
00:14:42
Speaker
And when does it come back?
00:14:49
Speaker
So have you got any more?
00:14:52
Speaker
You may get two little ones.
00:14:56
Speaker
I've got one more, actually.
00:14:57
Speaker
It's on the same page, and then I can delete it out of the phone.
00:15:00
Speaker
I went to the zoo and saw a piece of toast in a cage.
00:15:06
Speaker
The sign said, bread in captivity.
00:15:12
Speaker
Oh, they're getting good.
00:15:13
Speaker
They're getting good.
00:15:22
Speaker
Yeah, tip of the week this week is hike.
00:15:25
Speaker
So a couple of weeks ago I went for a hike with Piers out in the Blue Mountains.
00:15:30
Speaker
And I actually didn't come up with the idea for a hike video.
00:15:33
Speaker
It was just after the fact when I got home.
00:15:35
Speaker
I thought I filmed myself for a couple of minutes explaining what I did, what safety precautions we talk, and how to be safe and well around hiking.
00:15:44
Speaker
So, yeah, this week's video is about hiking, making sure you know exactly your location, telling people where you are, going with
00:15:51
Speaker
going on a hike with someone's important yeah have a satellite phone or have a phone for reception have a first aid kit have some food water hot and cold clothes for different climates because uh you know it could be nice and sunny and warm and then as soon as the wind comes or through a shady canopy area in the valley it can get quite cold so you always need to be prepared and uh yeah so it was a really good video um
00:16:16
Speaker
It was a great video, Maxie, because as I was putting it into the Rescue Squad and adding the lessons to it and things like that, it basically...
00:16:27
Speaker
Struck a chord to me how many of our other lessons are relevant to that lesson.
00:16:32
Speaker
So know where you are.
00:16:33
Speaker
Tell someone where you're going.
00:16:35
Speaker
Pack the correct stuff with you.
00:16:38
Speaker
It's so important.
00:16:38
Speaker
And, you know, as a girl that, you know, I mean, I was a Venture Scout.
00:16:43
Speaker
I did a bit of hiking back in the day.
00:16:46
Speaker
You know, being prepared, you know, you...
00:16:49
Speaker
In our climate in Australia, yes, it can be serious.
00:16:53
Speaker
If you're somewhere else in the world, it can be life and death.
00:16:56
Speaker
So, you know, Andrew was once, you know, managed to get off the Dumfries and Galloway.
00:17:03
Speaker
He was in that area just because he almost got okay enough kick.
00:17:09
Speaker
But as he was walking off, the mountain rescue were coming on because there was snow and there were people stuck.
00:17:17
Speaker
you know, having the right stuff if you go in to places where there's not mobile phone call.
00:17:22
Speaker
So it was really interesting.
00:17:24
Speaker
I think it was so relevant how that activity related to so many of the other lessons that we do.
00:17:31
Speaker
You'd be surprised how many people do pass away or get stuck in the Blue Mountains just in Sydney.
00:17:37
Speaker
That's just one part of the world.
00:17:38
Speaker
Can you imagine all the other parts as well?
00:17:40
Speaker
And the thing is, if you're not prepared, you put in all the people together.
00:17:44
Speaker
lives in risk as well and yes it is their job that's what they do and that's why they do it but if you
00:17:50
Speaker
they don't need to go out into dangerous conditions or well and good.
00:17:54
Speaker
Just for a reason that you've just not, you know, packed correctly.
00:17:58
Speaker
You know, if you slip, you fall, they're all other things.
00:18:00
Speaker
So many different factors could happen.
00:18:02
Speaker
But if you've just got the right stuff with you, you're giving yourself the best chance.
00:18:05
Speaker
So excellent, Maxie.
00:18:10
Speaker
I'm glad you did, Lee.
Musical Appreciation and Environmental Facts
00:18:12
Speaker
Moving on, we've got the Maxie's Wrestling Squad playlist song.
00:18:17
Speaker
So it's a bit of a funny one.
00:18:19
Speaker
I've known Pink Floyd for a long time, but I only know a couple of songs.
00:18:23
Speaker
Yeah, a couple of songs.
00:18:25
Speaker
And I was at work the other day and we'll talk about, you know, monumental albums and bands and so on.
00:18:33
Speaker
And I got chatting to the crew about Pink Floyd and they'll tell me about the โ
00:18:41
Speaker
Getting Stuck on the, was it Dark Side of the Moon?
00:18:45
Speaker
I'll tell you, Zach.
00:18:47
Speaker
Is it Dark Side of the Moon?
00:18:48
Speaker
Dark Side of the Moon, yes.
00:18:52
Speaker
And you've got to listen to it.
00:18:53
Speaker
50 years old this year.
00:18:55
Speaker
You've got to listen from the start to finish.
00:18:59
Speaker
Got the headphones on and had surround sound and went from speak to me into breathing the air to on the run to time, the great gig in the sky, money, us and them, any color you like, brain damage, eclipse.
00:19:12
Speaker
Whole point of this is it's a whole experience.
00:19:16
Speaker
Never realized how powerful
00:19:21
Speaker
I didn't realize that, Maxi.
00:19:23
Speaker
There's a lot to it.
00:19:24
Speaker
You know, I'm not into the psychedelics or anything, but apparently it gives you a bit of an out-of-body experience and close your eyes and listen to it.
00:19:32
Speaker
For its time in 1973, they were well and truly ahead of their time.
00:19:39
Speaker
Yeah, like I knew their songs over time.
00:19:42
Speaker
Yeah, do you know what?
00:19:43
Speaker
Pink Floyd, you know, knew the songs, knew the war, all that kind of stuff, but it wasn't like, you know, it wasn't one that, but you're right, there's those iconic albums like Sergeant Pecker.
00:19:53
Speaker
I think it's one of the highest albums in the top ten ever, I think, yeah, for how long it was in the,
00:20:02
Speaker
In the charts for.
00:20:05
Speaker
So the song today is Breathe in the Air.
00:20:21
Speaker
So we're going on a little bit of sitting, aren't you, okay?
00:20:32
Speaker
We should look up more.
00:20:33
Speaker
I'm going to write this down for future.
00:20:36
Speaker
Iconic albums, yeah.
00:20:38
Speaker
Joshua Tree, you two.
00:20:40
Speaker
I was very, yeah, a bit different, a bit random, but, yeah, I'm glad I did.
00:20:46
Speaker
This is the album.
00:20:47
Speaker
If you get a chance, get a bit of time, get it on Spotify and have a listen.
00:20:50
Speaker
Thank the boys for that bit of wisdom.
00:20:52
Speaker
I'm going to tell them I'm going to take that on board and listen to that.
00:20:57
Speaker
What are we doing?
00:20:59
Speaker
What else have we got then?
00:21:00
Speaker
So we've got the playlist.
00:21:01
Speaker
That's looking good for the holiday.
00:21:02
Speaker
Where are we at next?
00:21:15
Speaker
Yeah, so crazy fact.
00:21:16
Speaker
I've got one here, Lee.
00:21:18
Speaker
I just got the one today.
00:21:20
Speaker
Did you know that about 71% of the Earth's surface is covered in water?
00:21:28
Speaker
This includes oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, and even underground water sources.
00:21:33
Speaker
However, this is the interesting part.
00:21:37
Speaker
Here's the fascinating part.
00:21:39
Speaker
Only about 2.5% of that 71% of all the water on Earth is freshwater that is suitable for human use.
00:21:47
Speaker
The majority of Earth's water is saltwater found in the oceans, making freshwater a limited and valuable resource.
00:21:55
Speaker
It reminds us just the importance of conserving and managing water responsibly to ensure its availability for future generations.
00:22:02
Speaker
So that means that 68.5% of the earth is salt or unusable water.
00:22:14
Speaker
I didn't realise that fact and when I saw it, it was really interesting.
00:22:19
Speaker
What have you got?
00:22:20
Speaker
Well, I've got a fact about Costa Rica.
00:22:24
Speaker
Because I don't know if we spoke on Sunday that we did.
00:22:28
Speaker
We mentioned the lovely, lovely people of Costa Rica.
00:22:31
Speaker
So I thought I'm going to give a fact about Costa Rica.
00:22:35
Speaker
So there's areas in the world that are called rare blue zones.
00:22:42
Speaker
Have you heard of the book Blue Zones?
00:22:44
Speaker
Well, interestingly, Andrew...
00:22:47
Speaker
just gave the book to Talia.
00:22:48
Speaker
So make sure you take it away with you.
00:22:52
Speaker
And Costa Rica is one of the world's blue zones.
00:22:55
Speaker
And it's basically, there are areas in the world where there's really high life expectancy.
00:23:02
Speaker
And it's about like, it's, you know, and there's a peninsula in Costa Rica called the Nicoya Peninsula, and it's dubbed as a high longevity island.
00:23:12
Speaker
And yeah, it's like, there's other areas, five regions.
00:23:16
Speaker
There's one in Greece, there's one in Japan, there's Lima Linda in California and Sardinia in Italy, and these are the blue zones.
00:23:23
Speaker
And it's like got very high life expectancy.
00:23:27
Speaker
And there's a book about it.
00:23:29
Speaker
And Andrew gave his book to Talia.
00:23:32
Speaker
So take it away with you.
00:23:34
Speaker
But other things about Costa Rica, one of the happiest countries in the world, probably why they live so long.
00:23:40
Speaker
Over 500,000 species of wildlife.
00:23:44
Speaker
And there are over 200 volcanic formations.
00:23:49
Speaker
What a great, cool, interesting place.
00:23:52
Speaker
So if you listen to the podcast in about three weeks, I think it's scheduled for the first week in August, Costa Rica lifeguards, have a chat with them.
00:24:03
Speaker
That's going to be a good chat.
00:24:06
Speaker
There's a bit of a fact about Costa Rica.
00:24:08
Speaker
And when you listen to the lifeguards, that'll give you a bit of an insight behind them.
00:24:13
Speaker
That's a good fact.
Community Engagement and Future Content Planning
00:24:25
Speaker
All right, not much has changed from last week, but there was a great training week last week.
00:24:31
Speaker
We do have a community event tomorrow with the lawyers in Brisbane, which is exciting.
00:24:38
Speaker
There's about 40 or 50 people.
00:24:40
Speaker
It's going to be different to other times we do it.
00:24:44
Speaker
It's going to be a lot of hands-on.
00:24:46
Speaker
We've got to get the resource dummies out.
00:24:48
Speaker
We've got to get the throwbacks.
00:24:49
Speaker
We've got to get the smoke alarms.
00:24:51
Speaker
We're going to have a bit of dancing to staying alive with the resource dummies.
00:24:55
Speaker
Yeah, showing the 10-minute rip video.
00:24:57
Speaker
So it's giving a lot of education to the lawyers that look after us and their families.
00:25:02
Speaker
So it's kind of like a staff day, really, which is very exciting.
00:25:06
Speaker
And, yeah, really excited.
00:25:08
Speaker
They're amazing people, and we're looking forward to ending their week with a bit of fun.
00:25:13
Speaker
Yeah, it's going to be good.
00:25:14
Speaker
So that'll be great.
00:25:14
Speaker
It's going to be good.
00:25:15
Speaker
I'm looking forward to that.
00:25:17
Speaker
And we spoke about videos.
00:25:18
Speaker
We're doing videos at the moment.
00:25:19
Speaker
So there's the next videos you could expect.
00:25:23
Speaker
We're doing breath work.
00:25:24
Speaker
We're doing take a break.
00:25:27
Speaker
We're doing EpiPens again.
00:25:30
Speaker
It's been eight, nine months since we did EpiPens.
00:25:32
Speaker
It's crazy how Chris hum flies.
00:25:35
Speaker
We're doing life jackets.
00:25:36
Speaker
We're doing stand-up pad boarding.
00:25:39
Speaker
And we are also doing Triple O and cross streets.
00:25:43
Speaker
And also, you know, winning the week, we've got Jasmine and we're all going to go and have a coffee tomorrow.
00:25:49
Speaker
And talk about all the different types of planning, things.
00:25:51
Speaker
There's so much planning going on.
00:25:54
Speaker
And then another thing here, from doing the training for the 42, maintaining the training going forward, just kind of every day or every two days try and move the body.
00:26:05
Speaker
It's so important.
00:26:07
Speaker
It's good for your mind.
00:26:07
Speaker
It's good for the body.
00:26:09
Speaker
And also, again, Lee, I was just talking to you in the car.
00:26:13
Speaker
On my Kindle, I've been reading a lot of books.
00:26:14
Speaker
I've got two books on the go at the moment.
00:26:17
Speaker
I used to be one of those people that's like, I have to read one book.
00:26:19
Speaker
But now I've realized you can dabble between two or three.
00:26:24
Speaker
And you were saying your audio book.
00:26:27
Speaker
Yeah, I've got my audio book.
00:26:29
Speaker
I've got my new iPad.
00:26:31
Speaker
I have not put social media on my iPad yet.
00:26:35
Speaker
because it's going to be my relaxed technology.
00:26:38
Speaker
So I've got Audible on there and, you know, Pinterest.
00:26:44
Speaker
I want to look up and read, you know, I want to do something.
00:26:46
Speaker
Yeah, things like that.
00:26:47
Speaker
So, you know, while I'm away, I will put my phone down and...
00:26:54
Speaker
um i mean i'm catching up with a lot of friends and things like that so it's going to be a busy time but um you know not not have that constant addictive pick it up pick it up you know and all the rest of it that's what we're going to be doing yes because um you know one of the videos we're going to do is the importance of taking a break and you do have to go and um
00:27:16
Speaker
refill your cup because you can't um with julia roberts eat pray love yes yes
00:27:24
Speaker
So when we're eating a lot of great food, we're going to be praying to the good Lord of, you know, mindfulness and then take it, you know, kind of cleanse the system.
00:27:36
Speaker
And when you give yourself that, sorry, no, I was going to say, and love just, you know, we're in love what we do, but, you know, keep that energy burning to the love of what we do to educate people and, you know.
00:27:48
Speaker
Well, you have to have a break from it and then you miss it.
00:27:51
Speaker
If you miss, if you don't have a break from something, then you don't miss it.
00:27:54
Speaker
And it's like, and when you have a break and you will talk about this and then, but you may let your mind, that's when you have even better ideas.
00:28:02
Speaker
You can't be creative when you're tired.
00:28:06
Speaker
There's no company in the world that sat exhausted around the boardroom table and can't come up with brilliant ideas.
00:28:12
Speaker
And you know what I've realized too,
00:28:14
Speaker
Even though we've always been told there's not enough time, everything needs to be so fast-paced, so fast-paced, but we do have time.
00:28:20
Speaker
We do have time, and you've just got to utilize your time better, and then when you do that, you come up with better ideas and better structure, and that's what we're doing.
00:28:30
Speaker
Yeah, and we've really made a point of doing the strategy before we go away so it can all settle and we can think about it when the ideas will come when you're not expecting them to come.
00:28:42
Speaker
So, yeah, exciting.
00:28:47
Speaker
What do we have next, Maxie?
00:28:55
Speaker
Yeah, so reflection this week, Lee, we were just speaking about it before, but from the first meeting with the lawyers in Brisbane, you know, four years ago, three, four years ago, to helping us get our trademarks and our registration, to helping us get our charity status, to becoming a supporter on us in everything we do, to getting us to come into their office.
00:29:20
Speaker
and showcase to the staff family and kids within the group set and we're going to be able to you know we've met sort of a handful of their team and tomorrow we're going to meet so many many more which is absolutely um really awesome and um they're going to do it as a little bit of a fundraiser for us too for the charity and it's just going to be um
00:29:42
Speaker
really cool to, you know, they do very serious, intense work lawyers and hopefully we'll bring a little bit of our live and survive magic to their office to end the week.
00:29:52
Speaker
Yeah, it's going to be gold.
00:29:55
Speaker
You know, yeah, thank you again for the opportunity.
00:29:57
Speaker
We look forward to it and we're doing Brisbane tomorrow and we're doing City.
00:30:02
Speaker
So we've got to take all the resources.
00:30:04
Speaker
We've got to take the kids out.
00:30:06
Speaker
Taking the kids out of the day.
00:30:07
Speaker
So, yeah, that'll be that.
00:30:10
Speaker
So I'm looking forward to it.
00:30:12
Speaker
We've got 30 minutes again, Maxie.
00:30:14
Speaker
I know, 30 minutes.
00:30:22
Speaker
Rule for the rule.
00:30:31
Speaker
Yeah, so the rule for the rule book, the stoicism books that I read, there was a really good passage the other day.
00:30:38
Speaker
It basically was just keep the flame flickering within your soul.
00:30:42
Speaker
Keep the flame going.
00:30:44
Speaker
You know, keep fueling it.
00:30:46
Speaker
Whatever you do, just keep it going because as long as that flickers, there's light shining within you.
00:30:52
Speaker
Yes, yeah, keep it flickering within yourself because it's like the other thing that it's like, what do they say, happiness is an inside job.
00:31:00
Speaker
You've got to keep your own flame burning.
00:31:03
Speaker
It's so important.
00:31:04
Speaker
You can't be responsible for anyone else.
00:31:08
Speaker
It doesn't matter how much you love them.
00:31:10
Speaker
So keep that little fire burning bright in yourself.
00:31:16
Speaker
There we go, Maxie, 31 minutes.
00:31:18
Speaker
We've got to get onto these videos.
00:31:24
Speaker
So we've got one more podcast next week.
00:31:26
Speaker
One more podcast next week.
00:31:27
Speaker
Which by the time we do next week, my suitcase is going to be packed.
00:31:31
Speaker
Because I'm the first one heading across that hemisphere.
00:31:37
Speaker
And then it's going to be there, showtime.
00:31:40
Speaker
Or no showtime, as it were.
00:31:42
Speaker
So, yeah, we'll see everybody for one last time.
00:31:45
Speaker
And then hopefully we've got some great episodes for you to keep you occupied while we're away.
00:31:50
Speaker
All right, everyone, have a great weekend.
00:31:52
Speaker
Look after yourselves and we'll see you next week.
