Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop,

Introduction to the D&D Episode in Eryth

00:03:30
Speaker
Bellum Draconis. We are a live play 5e D&D podcast set in the magical home-brewed world of Eryth in the Kingdom of Drolak. Joining you for this week's episode, we have Willy Plays the Dragonborn Druid, Baal Valkon. Ooh, Bellum Draconis! We've got Ian who plays the Tiefling Wall at Warsaw and Nyx Karel. Hi! We've got Daron who plays the High Elf Artifice of Rains Haddow.
00:03:49
Speaker
Don't mention Bellum Draconis. I think I may have mentioned it once or twice, but I think I got away with it. Callum, he plays the Warforged Artifice at Alpha. My G and aim, Bellum. I'm Will, who plays the human cleric, Emron. Hello, would you like to hear about our new lord and saviour, Bellum Draconis? My name is Mark and I'm playing the human blade singer, Seth Farah, and by last but not the least, is our commander of combat, our... I was going to say, Dustin, our buttcrack, but that doesn't really have the same... What? Dustin, our buttcrack.
00:04:18
Speaker
No, like, Sandy Bum, like, because we're in the desert. No, no. There's been some stinker openers in our time and this one, this one's right up there, buddy. This is gorgeous. Oh, well. Takes the Sandy Biscuit. You could do it next time, then, mister. Yeah, yeah. You could do it. I did do it for 25 episodes and you made a game of interrupting me every fucking five seconds. So, fuck you. Episode 83 is going to be introduced by Darren.
00:04:42
Speaker
Last but not the least is our D&D of D&D Dungeon Master Danny. Thank you Mark, you're doing great.

The New Quest and the Mysterious Object

00:04:48
Speaker
Thanks buddy, I love you. We pan over to the wet and salty air of Sleepguard and we see an old shack behind his shop. Old girl sat squeezing one out, holding an orb.
00:05:04
Speaker
Ooh, unified discordance. Damn, Seth says the words needed to get himself back into the good books and the whole group is brought back in. Turns out there's some armed figures now in the room, including none other than the Sparrowhawk in a chair with a big old round table. Hedon says that he's part of the winged watch. Seth's also a member, and it turns out this winged watch needs to know a hell of a lot about every single fucking party member, apart from obviously.
00:05:31
Speaker
The Wing Watch are going to be meeting in Scotch Helm in two weeks time. Looks like there's a new quest for the group. And we also get the full poem. Turns out there's also some sort of hidden second verse which Don does subvert the message of peace therein.
00:05:49
Speaker
Oh, we also get some information about the Heral Empire. Turns out that that Kimdom dong-gong be splitting into an east and a west. And apparently as soon as that treaty was agreed, the moon done did some appearing. Anyhoo, the Sparrowhawk wants us to escort an obciscra prisoner V.I.P. to scorch helm.
00:06:10
Speaker
And apparently they will know if air is any attempt whatsoever to break them out, so we's gonna need disguises, we's gonna need to look like slavers, we's gonna need to get our shit together. That of Chris Grubunch, they're everywhere. They're all over the place like a bad rash. Speaking of which, I need to see myself a doctor. There is a high likelihood of some sort of attack on the road, but there's no payment because apparently, fuck that. Seth and Bart done did reveal their prophecies, Seth.
00:06:38
Speaker
revealed the boon that he would receive, Baal did not. What a bitch. They have Kriskra are actually, turns out, pretty good in Dralak and lots of people actually quite like them. They ain't the cunts they are over here in Sleekguard. Nyx wants revenge on Hope and that's a badass idea. And finally,
00:06:57
Speaker
Just when the group Don does the leaving all unified, Nick's Don sees a little glowy glow around a sparrow hawk and sees one who watches the skies. Oh, shit. So, you will begin to step out of the Sansweave Emporium, or at least this altered version of the Sansweave Emporium.

Discussing the Sky Object in Snake Run

00:07:24
Speaker
Seth, as you step through the door, one of Sparrowhawk's personal guard just thrusts a small coin pouch into your chest containing 60 gold pieces. The resources you were asked for and were promised to help you on your journey. One by one you filter out and Nyx, you are just caught in this moment of temporal pause as everything around you seems to freeze and you just see that silhouette of your patron
00:07:57
Speaker
encompass Sparrowhawk. Take a moment, you shake it off and you step out. You will find yourself in a fairly busy snake run mid morning. A lot of those who are laborers have left already and departed into various mines and farms that are found outside the town. You starting to see traders open up for the day.
00:08:27
Speaker
What's interesting, however, is that this object in the sky still pulls everyone's attention. Where normally you'd expect hustle and bustle and people really taking in their surroundings, every other head you look at is just looking up. There are artists that are stepping out to sketch it. There are bards looking at it and composing sweet melodies. There are people who are looking fear, people who are praying to it. No one quite knows how to take this object.
00:08:58
Speaker
Given the information you've received, you've given yourselves the day to enjoy what else Snake Runner has to offer, what would you like to do?

Strategizing Supplies and Logistics

00:09:11
Speaker
So, everyone will turn to look at the group. At least we've got a bit of direction now on what we need to do.
00:09:20
Speaker
I suppose we have options. I know we've still got the armory shop to go to on the blacksmiths and then the traders of our friends that we helped on the road. And it's also getting ourselves a cart. Now, I'm sure we'll have two carts and everyone will look towards Seth judging by what we were told.
00:09:44
Speaker
What? Why are we having two carts? We're going to have a prisoner cart, I think. Oh, yeah. All right. So obviously, we'll have two carts. So, and everyone, when I look towards Bao and service one, we've seen you prisk with horses now, is it?
00:10:01
Speaker
do we get horses to pull the carts because surely that's going to need more water? Are there camels that could pull the carts because they take less water? I don't know. But it's whether we all go and do the shops here and then send some of us off to get the carts or do we split our resources now? Some people go and try and get a cart while the rest of us do any shopping that they want as well.
00:10:24
Speaker
How about this? Oh, sorry. Rains, you go ahead. I mean, I think we have to conduct our business as soon as possible. We don't know who else heard Nix's misdemeanor. I'm not judging you, Nix. I'm not judging, not judging. But you said something quite inflammatory and we don't know who else could have heard it. In the room, though. In the room that we think it hasn't got out of, we think. We have to assume that it could. We don't have to assume. You can assume that it didn't.
00:10:53
Speaker
We absolutely could. That's not going to help us if it did. What's your point? My point is we need to move quickly. That's all. Why do you have to bring me into that? You just could say, guys, we need to move quickly. I'm going to go. Yeah, that makes sense. You don't have to take my name and just throw it in the mud. Next, you're good at making deals, right?
00:11:13
Speaker
You consider yourself able to negotiate with tough traders, right? Yes. So, Nick's and Seth, because Seth's got expertise on, he knows about his cards, because he's been telling us all the time. Nick's and Seth go and get the card. Nick's can negotiate, Seth can disguise himself. Anything that you two want from the armory or anything like that, let us know and we can get it. I've got a question about getting the card.
00:11:41
Speaker
Yep. We're just getting the cart. We're not getting the cart with the prisoner in. No, that's tomorrow morning. That's absolutely fine with me. I'm your man. What would we might also try and do if... Oh, sorry, Rains. I'm sorry. No, you're all good. Sorry, it's my bad. But we have to consider that this is a quest that's up for takers. We don't know that this guy's going to be waiting for us. I think we need to say... I think that was the... Oh, he is waiting for us. The appointment with the contracts with our employer.

Visiting June Forge Armory

00:12:11
Speaker
who is getting us to do the job from. But there are many of the wind watch here. I was going to say the name out loud, but okay. I'll just assume that we've got until tomorrow, because tomorrow we've got to go and get our man, the prisoner from the Acrisco, and right now we're free to get the supplies.
00:12:30
Speaker
But let's still argue. I think, yeah, I think we better move. What I'm going to just say about the cart, while we're there, I think, Nix, we could also haggle for maybe some rations as well, some water, some food, because they're probably going to be a place that kind of caters to people traveling to scorch homes. So they might give you a cart and here's some food and here's some water. And, you know, we could look into a horse or a camel, like you said, maybe just get an idea on money prices. Preferably a cart with cover. Yeah. If you find out, Nix, how much money you got on you?
00:12:59
Speaker
Not enough for all of this. Nope. I've got six, uh, one, two, three. I've got a bit, but not the kind of cash you lot were throwing around. We could go get numbers and then come back and meet you somewhere like at the trader's place that we, uh, we traveled in with.
00:13:14
Speaker
Yeah. How long are we travelling for again? It's about a week to get there, wasn't it? And we've got two weeks to get there. I think it's about a week and a half. Depends on if we get started. Two weeks. We need two weeks worth of rations. So at least, I reckon, we always plan to have more from the desert. So if we meet at Nomad's Bounty Traders, that's where the two gents that we helped on the road are based. So either of you want anything from the armory or do you want us all to go together later?
00:13:44
Speaker
I want to check it out, but I'm happy to go by myself. I also need to get some like, and Nick's will hold up his book, some components for more magical effects. Totally agree. As long as I hit those two things, I'm your man.
00:14:00
Speaker
Okay, well, we can scout out and then we let you know what the armory is like if you want to go over there. Just anything that's got some pretty daggers because he holds up his rusty ass iron daggers that he's had. You're after something. Okay, I'll keep an eye out for you. Anything else? Daggers? Just to add that, Seth, if you find a sensible cart that doesn't have
00:14:22
Speaker
shelter and it's a much cheaper price. I picked up the sheltered tent thing that I think between you, myself and Alfa, we might be able to secure to any car that we find. Now, we're going to have time in the morning to look at that because from what I made out in there, I might be recognized by the Ed Krispker. You definitely will be and Alfa stands out like a sore thumb because he's a walking metal man.
00:14:44
Speaker
So the three of us will have plenty of opportunity to secure and make a cart real boy before as well. Perhaps Emraam Nix and Baal will go and secure the prisoner. So we're meeting at Nomad's Bounty. Guys, can I just say this feels a lot like teamwork. Don't jinx it! Okay, so... Otherwise I'm going to be saying some words and you're all going to want to not hear those words. Chef, do you need anything from the armors?
00:15:13
Speaker
I'm all good with what I've got. I make everything I need. All I need is some water, some food, and a cart. Right. So you two are going to go for the cart. That's near the Criscra outpost. We'll go to the armourers. We'll meet at the bounty traders. How many hours until midday does it look, Danny? Two or three. It's the equivalent of like a quarter past nine. Shall we say meet at midday at the traders? Is that a good... Yup, sounds good to me. It gives a good point. Sounds like a plan.
00:15:42
Speaker
Are we going to be carrying this car around with us now? We're not carrying it. We'll push it. I assume it might be a car. You can get horses too to pull it along or camels. We'll just ask them to hold it until tomorrow morning. Exactly. They might be able to hold it for us. All right, let's no more talking. Let's just go. Break. OK, let's go. Nick's come this way and he's going to... Shit, I went the wrong way. I'm going the right way. Which way do we go? I just walked. Are you all right? Fuck.
00:16:15
Speaker
Just before you scoot away as well, Baal will come up to you Nyx, do once more a little kind of brush over your cheek with a thumb and cast, whilst he's doing obviously the various semantic components that he's doing there with it, but he's going to cast Eagle Splendor on you, give you advantage on Charisma checks.
00:16:34
Speaker
And just say, make a good deal with your nicks. Nice. How long's the last one? Absolutely. Next hour. Oh, run. Glorious. They're going that way. We're going this way. To the armory. To the armory.
00:16:48
Speaker
Okay, so we'll maybe do this in, well, chronologically. Sorry, Danny, we split the party. That's okay. You can split it all the way as you want, it's fine. So you arrive at the armory quicker than you would the toll house. Once you get a bit closer to the toll house, you'll find out a bit more what that looks like, but it's about a quarter of a mile walk to get to the toll house. The armory, however, is one of those other smaller bluffs, the other side of the main bluff.
00:17:15
Speaker
So you ascend this again, this spiral platform, just a couple of levels.

Dragonborn Blacksmith and Special Gear

00:17:23
Speaker
you arrive at this really beautiful frontage to this cave-like structure that has this black scale, this almost obsidian-like feel to it. It is smooth like quartz but it shimmers like onyx gemstones and it just has carved in and then gold embossed
00:17:46
Speaker
June Forge armory on it and the smell so who sorry who is there? It's M1 Rains, Baal and Alpha is that right? The smell as soon as you get close you just smell that and you particularly M1 that really familiar smell of of a of a smelted molten
00:18:11
Speaker
process and that unmistakable smell of when hot iron hits anvil and you are filled with a really comforting sensation. It smells a bit different. There are other things there. It's not on a cool breeze that you're used to. It is in this acrid heat. But for a moment, almost like Nick's when he just smells that whiff of salty or briny air, you have that as you feel that proximity to a forge appear.
00:18:39
Speaker
you step into this space and as you as you step in there's no real source of light other than in the far distant in this circular room in the middle of this room is this glowing um amber forge and the lights in this room the space is illuminated by reflections of this forge on various surfaces of metal on swords on great axes on on scale mail on plate on shields
00:19:04
Speaker
everything is sort of illuminated by this core of activity and you just see this humongous female figure moving around the center of the space using this huge hammer and working on what looks like a great sword from this distance and as you sort of get a bit closer you begin to make out details about this character this is a dragonborn and the scales that she wears matches that of the frontage it is this dark obsidian scale
00:19:35
Speaker
and she can't she doesn't really notice you but you just keep hearing that very rhythmic clang of metal against hot metal that's shaping and you are
00:19:49
Speaker
everyone impressed to say the least that this inventory exists in such a remote location. Everything here has clearly been handmade. There's a conflict, though, in the style. Your frame of reference is OK, Erith-wide in understanding how pieces are made, but you're certainly not recognizing your variant on Dragonborn. There's a bit of a slur in Dragonborn culture, those who are
00:20:19
Speaker
The slur that you often receive is looked after in Draconic, but essentially it means that you continue to live under the protection of a matriarch. When there are Dragonborn of other generations that aren't first born by a matriarch that just exist in Aerith as regular citizens.
00:20:38
Speaker
And you're certainly feeling that sensation here. There's a ritual of how you hold yourself, Balan. There's a reverence in which you hold your mother or sovereign mother in this case. You know that this Dragonborn immediately wouldn't be because you seldom see black-scale Dragonborn, so you know that there's probably no black-scale dragon in these parts.
00:21:00
Speaker
Rains, you can't help but be impressed somewhat. You've seen royal armouries of Shadow Mendian quality. And to you, Shadow Mendian forge work is elegant, right? There's a reason that you still take Shadow Mendian heraldry and the way you present yourself is a reason that you still rush into combat wearing Shadow Mendian themed and forged equipment.
00:21:26
Speaker
Alfa himself, I'm sure your entire bodice is made of shadow Mendian works. Yeah. But here, Emron, you're seeing a culture of Smithy that you're not really familiar with. You appear to be the only customers in the room. But what is clear is that if, again, these are really low ceiling spaces. So you have like a seven foot height above you. So all of you can touch the top of these rooms. What is clear, however, is that you feel
00:21:58
Speaker
Your passives are all high enough to know this, and you're all iconically charged in some fashion. You feel like a magical effect has been bestowed upon you. You don't feel like it's harmful, but you feel magically enhanced while you're in this space. And you just hear grunts between the hammer swings of this individual. What would you like to do? Sorry, they're in the rut.
00:22:26
Speaker
admiring your work here and looking to spend some coin ourselves if the price is right and what you have is correct.
00:22:35
Speaker
There's no vocal turn to this, but you just see a flourish with this black-smith hammer. She moves it like it's a cocktail maker. She flicks it around her wrist and puts it in a tool belt beside her. She walks over to her counter, grabs a rag, and sort of just wipes her brow, turns, and you see this really battle-stricken, scarred dragonborn.
00:23:03
Speaker
one eye missing sort of burn marks and abrasions in various parts of the visible face, a horn that seems like it's almost was severed off at one point. And she just looks at you, one eye open and says, I welcome your custom.
00:23:22
Speaker
Traveler, that accent I've not heard before. Shadow Mendian from the far side of the world, north part of the world. No point hiding it, I suppose. It's where we're from. It's where we sound. You're most welcome here. Welcome to June Forge Armory. My name is Asha Desertwind.
00:23:45
Speaker
It's a mighty fine forage you've got here, Asia Dejubwinden, you appear to be quite a fine smith. What you seem to have all sorts here, ranging from scale to plate, is there anything that perhaps that you wouldn't be able to cater for, like for instance, if one of those was there?
00:24:04
Speaker
looking for a particular type of armor. And actually, but while I'm here, actually, you

Negotiations for Magical Items

00:24:09
Speaker
might be able to help me with something. Is there something in these armors that makes them more friendly for the desert? Because why I see it is a lot of people walking around in plate and lots of heat and this sort of stuff feels pretty special. And I wondered if it's got something to do with how it caters to the desert. I tend not to work with these. I expect you referring to the crisscross.
00:24:35
Speaker
They have some sort of smithy work that means they can wear this in such ridiculous conditions. But I am open to commission. Anything you want, give me the time and resources and it shall be.
00:24:54
Speaker
Oh, okay. I'm thinking about it. I've always been a big fan of the old splint armor, you know, where the metal is laid across and in bolts. How easy would that be? And you watch as this one
00:25:11
Speaker
a sort of channel you moved into. I imagine all of you have sort of continued to enter, and you stand sort of around the central kiosk, and you watch as the room itself just sort of rotates, almost like it's an archive, and she's just browsing through a catalog. She points to a piece of armor the far back, after a couple of rows have passed, and just says, this one won't quite fit your frame. Give me a few hours, I'm sure I could adjust it.
00:25:41
Speaker
Okay, great. Terrific. I have my own methods of helping armor fit to my frame as well. So if it's going to take you too long, I'm sure I can I can work with you to make that work. But the actual quality of your work is genuinely like I've seen a lot of smiths and shadow man and
00:25:59
Speaker
There's only one who I can think who would produce work of this quality. You pay me great compliment, traveler. My work is merely a reflection on the travels I've had and the battles I've fought. Oh, interesting. Anyway, I'm taking up enough of your time on the subject of that.
00:26:24
Speaker
one smith who could match your quality. They have to be in the room with me and I'll just start looking at the armour and we'll just leave Emron to this person. You gesture to who that is. She just makes a swift inhale. Points at you, Emron, and says, this one. Up in range is...
00:26:53
Speaker
very generous in his praise of my work. I don't pretend to call myself a master smith or what Reigns was talking me up there. So I don't believe he means to insult any of your skill in this situation. I take no insult, Smith. It's a pleasure to meet a fellow master smith as well.
00:27:19
Speaker
Indeed. Tell me, where does your forge reside? I have a forge in Sleet Guard. I was trained by the dwarves of Clan Shadow Shield of their guild. She nods knowingly. So, currently my own forge is in Sleet Guard, I would say.
00:27:45
Speaker
A long way away from here. That is a shame that you... Sleepguard is so... What's the best word? Lost for resources. It's all iron and steel. It's very rough and ready, is what I kind of make of Sleepguardian. But Shadow Shield, that is no mere
00:28:14
Speaker
Childplay, you've done some serious work. They've brought me up since I was young, so I owe a lot to their training. Well, you'll be welcome to work here any time. Thank you. As Raines was talking a lot, everyone's been looking at the quality of the work and the metal work.
00:28:37
Speaker
A is because obviously there's sometimes there's a trick to put out the cheaper stuff where the people see straight away because the average person will just buy the cheap stuff and you can charge for it. Everyone's looking. What's the quality looking like of the stuff that is around him? Yeah, make a perception check with advantage. Okay, I will do. Thanks. That's a 21.
00:29:04
Speaker
Yeah, this is a well-equipped inventory, but you get the same impression. You sense that her best stuff is not on show right now. Yeah. And everyone will sort of pick up, he's imagining there's like rows of swords and blades and a lot on places. My companions and myself, we've done a lot of traveling. I can't tell.
00:29:31
Speaker
We're after more than just your average weapons and armours. I'm looking for stuff that has been spell-tempered, stuff that has been imbued with any arcana to improve its quality. May I ask one of your friends there to shut the door? I'd be happy to show those wares. I'm going to look to the others.
00:30:01
Speaker
Yeah, I got it. Don't worry. Go to the door and just shove it.
00:30:05
Speaker
And as you do, the room again sort of begins to rotate and almost like in the reveal of the Order of the Phoenix where that street in London sort of moves up a row and another house appears. The same sort of thing happens here between the shelves that sort of rotate like library archives, this extra
00:30:34
Speaker
inventory appears, and she just says, feel free to browse, though I must warn you any funny business will lead to your demise.

Exploring Magical Weapons and Armor

00:30:51
Speaker
Of course, and everyone looks very pointedly at the group. I think you can take my word on it from one Smith to another. I honest, I will assure you, there will be no funny business
00:31:05
Speaker
These are my silver standard things. To see my other ways, I would require to see what happens next. And as you sort of peruse, this is the sort of things you come across. There is a shield titled the shield of expressions.
00:31:32
Speaker
and the front of the shield is shaped like a bit of a face. While wearing the shield, you can use a bonus action to alter the shape of that face. You're looking definitely along the armor route first, and then you'll return up the arms route. There is next something titled the cast off armor. As an action, this piece of armor
00:32:02
Speaker
can be removed or equipped. It is scalable in whether it's light, medium or heavy. That is essentially a shell blueprint that she would finish to suit. There is something called the smoldering armour.
00:32:28
Speaker
which produces odourless smoke whilst worn. It is a scale male, that one. Next, you see something called the Sentinel's Shield, which gives you advantage on initiative rolls and wisdom, sorry, perception checks, and is a plus two shield in its own right. Then you have something called the Mariner's Armor.
00:32:50
Speaker
While wearing this armor, you have a swimming speed equal to your walking speed. In addition, whenever you start your turn underwater with zero hit points, the armor causes you to rise 60 feet towards the surface. It's also decorated with fish.
00:33:08
Speaker
You've got something called the... Sorry, you'll all know this, I'm sure. You meta players. Adamantine armour. Very special. It's one of the hardest substance in existence. While wearing it, any crit against you becomes a normal hit.
00:33:25
Speaker
Then you've got some of the more higher shelf items. There you've got a piece of elven chain armor. You gain a plus one bonus to AC while you wear the armor, so it is chain male plus one. You are considered proficient with medium armor at the same time. And...
00:33:50
Speaker
That's it in terms of the armours. There's also a plus one studded leather as well. I was going to ask, are there any like non-named like plus one? Yeah, so then there's just some really tidy looking leather. Sorry, studded leather. And then you sort of come back down that aisle on the other side, you find an unbreakable arrow that can always be retrieved and can never break even under magical means.
00:34:18
Speaker
you find something called the Moon-Touched Sword. In darkness, the unshaved blade of this sword sheds moonlight and casts a 15-foot radius of dim light. You find something called the Trident of Fish Command. It has three charges, this Trident. While you carry it, you can use an action and spend a charge to cast Dominate Beast from any beast that has an innate swimming speed.
00:34:49
Speaker
and regains charges once per day, you then come across the sword of life stealing, which when you attack a creature with the weapon and roll a d20 on the attack roll, that target takes 10 necrotic damage extra, and you gain 10 temporary hit points.
00:35:17
Speaker
You have also got something called the weapon of warning, which warns you when you are in danger. While it's on your person, you have advantage on initiative roles. In addition, any of your companions within 30 feet can't be surprised except when incapacitated. And then finally, you have something called the mace of terror.
00:35:49
Speaker
It has three charges. While you hold it, you can use an action and spend a charge to release a wave of terror. Each creature of your choice in a 30-foot radius extending from you has to save on a wisdom save or become frightened from you for one minute. That is everything that is on these two shelves. That's awesome. And then she looks at you. It's expectantly as though to hear your thoughts. There are some mighty fine
00:36:21
Speaker
items of weapons and armory. Yeah, okay. They are. Do you perhaps... So let us discuss some of these items before perhaps we see what else there might be. Everyone will look to the others. Is there anything that catch anyone's eye at this time?
00:36:50
Speaker
A lot of stuff here, and Rains has got the fork out and it's just like floating around the room. There is just the weave. Everyone's doing that. Rains don't poke. I'm not touching anything. You don't touch this finery, you just point and admire. This is... Yeah, I thought you were good before, but this is... Yeah. Not for me, per se, but that armour that you can take on and off without any particular time impingement
00:37:14
Speaker
is particularly handy in these environments, short of not being able to find what the crisper are wearing. That one in particular is particularly useful. I agree. Yes, there is much great craftsmanship here. However, I have no need of anything on these shelves. Not to insult your services, but I am merely in need of spare parts.
00:37:45
Speaker
I ask if any of you intend to spend any serious coin today or I will revert to your initial catalogue. Apologies. Alpha, he's new. He doesn't understand. Obviously, we're discussing this now. He's completely dismissed what you've presented to us, which is lovely. Alpha, let's not be rude. I did say it was excellent craftsmanship. Right. But then you've dismissed it and asked to show us something else.
00:38:14
Speaker
blades of warning, do you perhaps have any daggers of warning? It would be a shame to alter these, but give me a few hours and some extra coin, I could. Just right, just keep an option, Dom. How about the sentinel shield? How much for the sentinel shield? As it is, no alterations, I presume. And she's looking a bit insult at this point that you're not taking things as they're crafted, but
00:38:43
Speaker
No, no, no, I'm not. Sorry. Yeah. Okay. Sorry. I could part with that for, well, my starting price is 20,000 gold pieces, but there is room. If you wish to take this shield, you clearly wish to protect against some quite serious things. Indeed.
00:39:14
Speaker
Before we start the dull practice and dance of negotiation, I'd be willing to half my price, initially, should the one who wields it, wield it in the jewel of the desert champions in Scorchhelm. I presume that's where you're heading. That is indeed where we were planning to head. Most who come to browse this stock.
00:39:44
Speaker
are contenders in that duel. I think there were certainly some of us who were interested. I don't know whether anyone looks at this. I hadn't had a chance to mention this. I know, I think Seth's quite interested and certainly I am as to whether we enter as a party or whether there's a someone who's to enter. I've not had a chance to speak to it to all of you yet. Certainly I'm prepared to enter. 10,000 gold with
00:40:13
Speaker
the caveat that the one who purchases this performs in that duel. And that is a mighty fine offer. Only problem is I don't believe between us we have 10,000 gold. I'm sorry to say. I have another curious shield if you're interested.
00:40:40
Speaker
Go on, I also have a courier's shield of my own, if you're willing to exchange. Maybe.
00:40:48
Speaker
She makes a sharp whistle and just one small vertical module appears from the floor and it's got this very thick glass between what you're seeing. Most of the objects you've just seen are in the same space as you. You could touch them if you wanted to. This is behind quite a thick layer of glass and she rotates it twice and
00:41:15
Speaker
What you're looking at is a buckler more than a shield, it's much smaller. This is an item I came across, not forged myself. It's made of wood you can quite easily perceive, and wood is not the most amenable resource here in Snake Run. This is what I've required over the years. I call this the brawler's buckler.
00:41:46
Speaker
It's a plus one to AC, not a plus two, but the wearer can continue to use two-handed weapons while it is equipped. In addition, the wearer can spend a short-rest hit die to enter a defensive stance and retaliate any hit with a 1d6 piercing damage back for one minute.
00:42:17
Speaker
Mechanically speaking, would that allow someone to use an item two handed if it's got versatile and still benefit from the Buckler? It could not even need to be versatile. It could be heavy and still have this equipped. I assume she's explained what it does to us. Everyone will admire the shield. That's a strong shield. There must be a story behind how you acquired this.
00:42:46
Speaker
Yes, one I was only willing to tell the person who purchases it. Of course. And what would it take or how much would it take to purchase such a thing? This is not my craft, so I do not attach such a hefty fee. 3000 gold pieces is the lowest I'd go with still the same caveat that this is used in the Jewel of Desert Champions. I see.
00:43:18
Speaker
And one's going to take his own shield off his back. I also acquired a shield in a interest in set circumstances. Perhaps you'd like to look at it. Absolutely. And one will pass over the shield. He's got the one that reflects the damage.
00:43:42
Speaker
And she lays it out on a work bench and begins to cast a very familiar spell to, to you reigns. I think it is an identify

Striking a Deal with the Blacksmith

00:43:49
Speaker
spell. Yeah. That's me. I cast that as well. And she learns the properties instantly and says, yes, I will be curious about such an item. Would you be willing to exchange or take this as part payment towards your,
00:44:12
Speaker
brawler's buckler. 2000 gold. Okay. Okay, right. I think we need to as a group. I've got some rules looking for. Forgive me, we are whilst we have some coin, we are somewhat limited in our
00:44:41
Speaker
resources as it stands. Perhaps you could tell me what you're willing to spend and I could show you a few items already I'm willing to park with at that price or what you're looking for in general other than in points it rains this gentleman's new suit of armour. We're looking for armours that are slightly stronger than existing armours, weapons that are slightly stronger than existing weapons.
00:45:10
Speaker
Mechanically, I'm talking about plus one stuff, but obviously, you know, that's obviously not what it's called in Yeah, as I'm wrong says that rains will chip in with I couldn't help but notice the studded leather appears to fit that category and I'd be curious to know its price Yes, of course Apart with this one for 150 gold pieces Okay, you've got yourself a deal that's
00:45:36
Speaker
I should tell you something and he'll point to, he'll just take something to take the shadow menu and one out because I never thought I'd find better still than this, but well, there it is. 150 gold. Yes, more than happy. And if I was to throw in the, how much would you charge for a set of splint armor as well? Just as it is. As it is. So as the player's handbook? Yeah, as it is in the player's handbook. So that's another 200 gold.
00:46:07
Speaker
OK. If I buy the double, can you give me a 10 gold discount? Certainly. M1 appears to be saying something, but he appears to be lost for words, like he's muted. Sorry. And we'll walk over. Certainly, splint mail is something I'm interested in as well. Do you perhaps have any splint mail that has been hardened in any way?
00:46:37
Speaker
I have one, not necessarily hardened. And she goes to this column with specialist goods, rotates it two more times. This is a piece of split mail. This comes from a region known as the Arctic horizon. I'm not sure you're familiar. Brains as I fly up.
00:47:07
Speaker
was forged, so they say, by a race known as the Genasi, or an elemental race. This is known as the vest of frozen lands. It affords you the regular, shall we say, protection,
00:47:34
Speaker
but you are no longer affected by extreme cold or extreme heat. You are resistant to cold and fire damage whilst wearing it.
00:47:47
Speaker
that's a mighty impressive pace of armour. Certainly, would be interesting that, would we not, Rains? Yeah, we would. Rains is looking at it and he's just looking for any marks in primordial to see the true craftsmanship and signs of the Genasi. Because Rains is fascinated by the Genasi. This one is behind glass. You can't get close enough to look for those. There's nothing forthcoming in the distance
00:48:16
Speaker
Yeah, this is how much? 1200. Let's start there. Wow. Okay. If we represented you in the games, 11 make the price. 1100 not represented me just sponsored sponsored by
00:48:44
Speaker
Making people know who equipped us, that kind of stuff. Yes. Alright, 1100. I'll be honest, it's an amazing piece of armour and I am, I would love to spend, you could spend days admiring that craftsmanship. I have a counter offer, should you be interested? Go on, all those.
00:49:11
Speaker
800 and one hour with your friend and just points to Alpha. I wish to understand what that is. That is a creature of metal, but I sense something more. I have seen one of these before, though this one seems a bit more sentient. Body forged by myself.
00:49:39
Speaker
When have you seen one of me before? When was it? Hmm. A story I would tell once we agreed purchase. You are a Nakavolo, I think was the word. OK, this is... I think... I think we can find a deal here, particularly. I've got it. I've got Alpha, if you're willing to give up the title. Yes.
00:50:09
Speaker
Okay. Well, I was going to say, I think that story in itself. I am on the premise of one additional question by myself that must be answered truthfully. A new concept for me speaking with machine, please. I am not a machine. I am an individual.
00:50:33
Speaker
With my own method of thinking and my own personality, please refrain from calling me a machine if we are to proceed. She nods. Your question?
00:50:53
Speaker
Have you ever seen anything like this before? And Alpha's just going to reach out and he's going to pull out the same stone that he took from Magnus after he's all dissolved and just show it to. He's rolled something. Perhaps.
00:51:22
Speaker
I've seen many stone. I've seen many ore. I'm familiar with that. Alf is going to look to Rains and Emron. If you wish to make the deal, then I am perfectly capable and accepting.
00:51:46
Speaker
As long as you're happy to be part of the bargain, Alfred, I don't mean to put upon you. I won't hurt him. I just want to understand what it is. Okay. What he is would be a better. Thank you. So we've got the studied leather and the normal splint, mate. Was that what you were showing? That deal is done. Oh, that's done.
00:52:11
Speaker
Whoever is in charge of that, please remove the appropriate amount of gold. I've already done it for any 50 gold. Okay. Um, then yes, we'd happily bargain over this split male era now 800 gold. It is yours. Okay. I'll deduct the 800. Can I arrange the fit for any physique in particular? And when I look to reigns, do you mind if I wear it?
00:52:42
Speaker
Well, one of us has to take it. And if you take it first, I have the means to, should the time come that it's passed to me, I have the means to make it fit anyway. So scale it to you. To my barrel-like chest, please, Master Smith. You should be ready in the hour. And then I'll take an hour with your friend.
00:53:04
Speaker
Of course. Disclaimer, Rains has the ability to, through his arcane artistry, to turn up suits of armour to his size. So yes, get it scaled to him and then we'll go from there. Please deduce 800 gold from your account. And you are now in possession of the best of the frozen lands. So it is scale armour properties.
00:53:31
Speaker
You are resistant to fire. You are resistant to cold damage. Cool. Well, make something in the system so it shows that. She'll then look to you, Baal. Anything for yourself, fellow scale. I'm but a poor boy. Nobody loves me.
00:53:59
Speaker
You keep rich company. No point in my name. I do, I do. And Baal will kind of shrug and look around the shop. You'll see him looking a little bit kind of not necessarily intrigued by anything there. More so, his eyes been resting on the forge, resting on the fire. Maybe not here for arms or armour then.
00:54:25
Speaker
And she, again, rotates the shelving and the archive round. And there's a collection of just curiosities. There aren't many. There is something called the Champion's Tusk, which is essentially a horn, a war horn, that gives plus three to intimidation and glows blue whenever foes are near.
00:54:57
Speaker
There is a ring, a golden ring, which gains plus three to perception and always sheds five foot of light, followed by five foot of dim light. There is a cloak called a elvish scouting cloak. It's plus three to stealth. And if you remain still for 10 minutes, it turns the wearer invisible.
00:55:29
Speaker
And there is a cane called the navigator's cane, which is plus three to survival, and the wearer will always know north. For those less concerned with metal, leather, and everything else, I appreciate the effort. I have nothing to barter with.
00:55:57
Speaker
Bar, we'd be happy to, because it would benefit the party, help pay for anything that we need or that you think would be beneficial to our travels. Hmm. Uh, and he casts his eyes back over the items again. I don't see much use for that one. And he kind of points out the, uh, the cloak as we'll mostly be on the move. The other two have plenty of uses for us.
00:56:31
Speaker
The king certainly sounded interested in what you felt. Well, it will help with our journeys, will it not? If you wish me to lead the way, then by all means. How much you wanted for that king? My lowest price, since neither of you have offended me. 150 gold. Happy? Yeah, sounds reasonable.
00:57:02
Speaker
Then it is yours. Do you think Nix would like the cloak? What do you reckon, Reans? I think Nix is an entity unto himself and will probably come here in due course. That is true, you probably will. Okay, we can at least tell him that there's some good stuff he might like here. Otherwise, there is everything that you can expect to purchase of common value that you would find in the player's handbook.
00:57:30
Speaker
And that will also just quickly pipe up. Alpha, don't you have some sort of weaponry as well that this master smith might be able to have a look at? Indeed. It is what I need spare parts for. I do not mean to insult you on this, but I don't suppose you may have seen anything like this before. And you're just going to whip the pistol out and put it on the table.
00:57:58
Speaker
This is one of those hand cannons. Yes, I have seen one or two in my time. I'm afraid mine suffered some irreparable damage on a misfire. I am looking for spare parts to repair. The parts we have readily available this remotely are likely to cause more harm than good.
00:58:25
Speaker
In Scorchhelm, you'll find an associate of mine. He is an artificer, looking around the room, maybe like yourselves. He'll able to help you with that. It's fine powders and I don't have the time for small materials.
00:58:48
Speaker
You'll find him in the district that now belongs to the fizzlebangs. Ah, you won't miss the shop. Let me put it that way. What is your associate's name? Depends on which day of the week you speak to him. Just tell him Desert Wind recommended you get some help here and he'll take something off the price, I'm sure.
00:59:18
Speaker
Some days he is a giant, some days he is a gnome, he is... multi-morpheus, let's say. Hmm, an interesting trait. I shall be sure to ask him when we get there, and I thank you for your assistance. Just be wary, he's a bit of a stock magic addict.
00:59:42
Speaker
you may struggle to get sense out of him one day but don't let that deter you just return another you'll be dealing with an entire different version of him most peculiar as someone from this area you perhaps might be able to help us myself and a few of our party are after specific spell components and we're struggling to find them you wouldn't be able to
01:00:12
Speaker
Suggest where we could go that might be able to sell them or perhaps you sell them yourselves. I don't know it depends what you need I have a selection of powders and metals The bounty traders is probably your best bet. It's the closest thing we have to a general good store. I Mean certainly for myself. I'm after Ruby dust and Silver powder silver
01:00:41
Speaker
I could part with some silver, but I would charge quite the premium. You may be better waiting till you get to score a channel. It's a bigger space of trade, and here we don't tend to have luxury items like that. Of course. Obviously, we're also looking for diamonds first. You're in the wrong place. Okay, I thought so. Worth asking, we don't want to go, you know,
01:01:07
Speaker
running around town trying to find them when it's easy to ask you if you know whether anyone will sell any. Try the nomads. One of them is a bit gormless but the other one you get conversation out of but otherwise scorchum or going back to gold view I think are your best bets. Okay. I assume, sorry Imran, I assume this word that you'll want with alpha you will want in private.
01:01:33
Speaker
Ideally, I'd like to be able to close the shop and not worry about any thievery. Like I say, you'll be unharmed. I just wish to understand how that works. Okay. Well, deal's a deal. We're taking the armour, so thank you, Alfred, for accommodating. I am intrigued in the story, so do not worry. Rains will probably join him rather than just putting out his share of the gold for the rod, and we'll just offer the rod to Baal.
01:02:04
Speaker
I think we're about done here then. Actually, if I may, seeing as I am unable to procure parts for my particular hand cannon, as you have dubbed it, do you perchance have a crossbow of some description or something similar that has ranged capabilities? A crossbow, take your pick and consider it a gift.
01:02:36
Speaker
Thank you very much. Alf is going to have a lock-in. No idea what he's looking for. Takes the diamond-studded one. He's going to pretend he knows what he's looking at with these crossbows, but he's just going to take a random one. Again, it's a wooden-based objective. Wood isn't the mastercraft here. So you have hand crossbow or heavy crossbow? Those are your two choices. I will take a hand crossbow. OK, so feel free to add that to your inventory.
01:03:06
Speaker
Thank you. I can't remember just quickly that whether you said it was an arrow or bolt that like would come back and be difficult to lose. An arrow. Ah, Jane. I thank you for your patronage. Thank you. Thank you. And please, adorn these items as you agreed, should you enter the Jewel of Desert Champions. I could do with the prestige.
01:03:36
Speaker
Of course, thank you. Your friend will return soon. Please, Alpha was it. Indeed. Step this way. As you wish. And you are led into a chamber beyond a chamber that any of you have seen before, as you three are ushered to leave and the door sort of shuts behind you.

Disguises and Negotiations with Kareem

01:04:02
Speaker
And as Alpha U stand there in the dark for a moment, we're just going to cross over to the other side now of Snake Run, where Seth and Nyx were then truly a quarter of a mile down away from the settlement. And in front of you are two large structures.
01:04:21
Speaker
To the left of you, built into the side of this rock, is this toll house. It also looks a bit like a fort with an open front. There is hewn stonework, relatively new, the structure doesn't look like it's been there that long. And it is riddled with a criss-cro. It has
01:04:41
Speaker
three levels to it, like a watch level at the top, and then it sort of spans over the course of the road itself. So you sort of have people being stopped for inspections regularly. And you can see to the east of you, a road that is signposted headed back to Goldview. It's this very broad road, about 40, 50 foot wide. And to the west of you, a road that's signposted to Scorchhelm.
01:05:09
Speaker
Also to the west of you is this other complex. It's essentially a caravanisserie, a big open area with lots of hitched up camels and horses, lots of carts, lots of people trading. The sort of place where you would find vehicles and mounts should you need them. So where would you like to go first? Or where would you like to go just in general?
01:05:36
Speaker
Before we'd get any closer, I'd kind of set the kind of stop nicks and be like, oh, I need to do a spell in a minute to hide this. And he's going to point to his very unique face. And he's going to just quickly nip down an alleyway or hide himself some way, hunch down maybe for a second, and then cast Disguise Self and come out looking like
01:06:03
Speaker
What he's going to have done over the last couple of hours of being around whilst taking everything else in is taking in kind of really, really banal, regular attributes of people around. So trying to find an average and he's trying to emulate average.
01:06:18
Speaker
So that be in terms of skin complexion, height, build, gait, facial complexion, all those are trying to just get like the most forgettable person he can possibly create and kind of try and emulate that through disguise self. It's interesting because it's hard to pick a race. You definitely perceive in that the time you spend here that human is the minority.
01:06:47
Speaker
those who speak. It would still be human. In the humans you do see have a more sandy like quality to their skin pigmentation. You've got
01:07:00
Speaker
those who are clearly travelers, like it is quite diverse. People tend to come here to explore their vices, but humans are always sort of seen with a bit of suspicion because they aren't the majority. But it would be easy enough for you to sort of look like someone not from Sleetguard, if that's what you were trying to do. Hmm. Okay. With that information,
01:07:26
Speaker
Okay. Nick's will be down next. Seth will be down going to hunt you over like thinking about like the final kind of thought to this spell before he activates it. And he's going to have a little thought to himself and kind of remember what you've just told me. And then he can look up at Nick's for a second and kind of look him up and down.
01:07:41
Speaker
hmm give like a let's see if this works and he's gonna try and um disguise self as a as a tiefling okay that his only frame of reference of tieflings are either kind of battle tieflings that he's met fighting the undead and then nix
01:07:56
Speaker
he's forgotten many of the others so he's just going to go of nicks and then he's going to alter a few things to make him look almost like a brother okay or like a relative so there are similarities in horn structure and size color complexion build um to try and kind of copy that a little bit okay it's it's not the most challenging for you to do tieflings are half human but given their their composition um yeah you look like a slightly broader slightly uh
01:08:25
Speaker
Smaller horned, slightly shorter version of Nyx. Sounds pretty much perfect for Ian and I actually as well. So you are two tieflings as far as everyone perceives. So instead of kind of stand up and kind of look towards Nyx like
01:08:49
Speaker
Wow. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think you've just... Why would you change back? That's perfect. I don't really have a choice. Honestly, Seth, the world as a Tiefling, through Tiefling eyes, you're going to walk out here, literally a new person. Everyone's going to greet you with a smile. It's going to be warm and fuzzy towards you. Ignore the devil thing. Don't worry about it. I don't. People will love it. And you won't want to change back, my friend.
01:09:18
Speaker
Well, I thought, you know, it looked less odd being a Tiefling and a human. It's just a pair of brothers. Are you still going to be called Seth? Because it's not really a Tiefling name. Oh, shit. What would you recommend then, Nix? Glix? No, it's too similar. No, no, no. I see where you were going there.
01:09:39
Speaker
Or maybe you just don't say my name and I just don't call myself anything. Dicks. Brings to mind. That's not just because of our chat. That's in the corner of my screen that's going, Dicks, Dicks.
01:09:56
Speaker
Yeah. How about we park the name thing and I'll just start. Yeah. I'll be the stoic quiet one and I won't say much, but listen, I was doing some sums as we came over here. Um, some thinking about, you know, long travel, which I used to do in the army. We're going to need a lot of supplies.
01:10:13
Speaker
I hope the others haven't been splurging their money on frivolous items in some fucking Beckwater place here, because we're looking at six people, six, you know, big hulking people, probably going to be fighting as well. Plus, we've probably got to feed the prisoner, seven, plus at least one animal for 14 days. By my estimations, that's over 112 Russians, 112
01:10:41
Speaker
with the skins of water that we need. There is a bloody lot of supplies. I feel like I've been sweating. I'm sweating. Hoodwinked here by taking this on.
01:10:54
Speaker
Maybe this should have been a group thing. I don't know. Well, we were just going to get the, you know, prices. Yeah. And I recommended this because, you know, maybe if we get the cart, they might lower the price of supplies or supplies than the cart, you know, like a bulk. Why are we taking a cart? Remind me of that just quickly to carry it all to carry us to, uh, like I can carry my own rations. Yeah. I really want a cart though. You know,
01:11:20
Speaker
That's so okay, just so I know where we are in the order priority, rations and cart, because by all intents and purposes, we're going to have a cart with old matey prisoner boy. I think the whole thing is one prison, it's just a cell on wheels, I feel. I don't think it's going to be anything fancy.
01:11:39
Speaker
Okay, so you want a car? I'll try and find a car. We've got Sandy Boy, you saw rain in the desert, it wasn't particularly effective, he almost passed out, oh no. Alpha kept falling apart. We're a bit broken in the desert, some of us. So I thought maybe those little bitches can sit on the back and we can do all the heavy lifting. Okay. Keeps us moving, and the sun gets hot. I'm all about keeping moving.
01:12:08
Speaker
But you're right. Supplies come first, but it might be a nice little bulk deal maybe, but we'll get some numbers and hell, whatever ball did to you, we can definitely use that. Oh, yes. It looked like that might help, but put a spring in your step. One of many things speaking. Shall we just choose a place randomly? Or I think the place with all the carts might be a good place to find carts. All right. That sounds good to me. Let's go. They've got Kembles as well. They're smaller than ball though. We have a ball.
01:12:37
Speaker
Yeah, I'm not going to rewrite him though. We can't expect him to carry our cards for 14 days. I don't imagine he'd be particularly happy about that. Hold on, are we actually getting some means to pull this card as well? Not us. Yeah, we're looking, I'm not going to pull it. This is turning into quite the expense. Yeah, that's right. I hope the group haven't been spending their money on, you know, stuff.
01:13:00
Speaker
We'll see. I'll see what we can do. I'm not hopeful. Now, you can always argue like, oh, you know, my brother's the expert and I would be looking at the car and I will give you a nod or a shake of the head if it's worth.
01:13:15
Speaker
the money. I will not say a single word. You just barter for a really good price. Usually I just care if it floats. That's my history on such things. Let's just go. Fuck it. Let's roll the dice and see how they land. These will not float because they have wheels, you see. We will need to do a lot of changes to make it boat worthy. I like this one here. Like you said, with all the carts on. Yeah, let's go there then. We'll just... Okay.
01:13:44
Speaker
I'm not a good actor, but just, I'll just shut the fuck up. Follow my lead. Okay. Okay. I'm sweating. My palms are sweating. Are your palms sweating? Why am I sweating? Knees weak. Arms are heavy. Right. You go. I'll follow after.
01:13:58
Speaker
Okay. Oh, yeah. Good. We both stopped. I feel like we're really close now, like a bit too close because you both turned around at the same time and now we're like really close. It's like looking in a mirror. What's up, Nix? I'm going to just, and Imitate and Barl, Nix is going to just stroke with his thumb, the cheek of Seth, Tiefling Seth, and cast guidance as a little bit of purple electricity comes down from my thumb and it's just kind of, I do have to touch my face.
01:14:29
Speaker
It's just giving you a bit of good luck. Alright, great. Also, I'm just going to step it back a little bit too close to me. We also tell to dress as a company. Like, we've got to buy some clothes because we don't match at all. And again, I don't know. Isn't it just the bands? No, because that's a different group. They're going to know we're not them.
01:14:52
Speaker
We're imitating a specific group. Do we need our own group? We do need our own. That's what they intimated there. Come up with the name quickly. You know what? Maybe the group have already sorted the club. I'm worrying. They're smart people. I'm sure they haven't gone down a little too tall. I had an idea. You're stepping on my idea, but I'll tell you anyway, just to bring us a little bit closer together. I thought that. Really close idea.
01:15:14
Speaker
When you're walking through the stands here and you saw everyone in their own little groups and they had the colours, like the ones with the orange scarfs that we had, I thought that was pretty cool. And I was like, maybe we should have something ourselves. So I bought this green dye and I've got hold of the orange bit of sleeves that we had. I was just going to dye them green and give them to us. And... Is that what happens when you dye orange green? Does it turn green? I think this dye is pretty strong. The place I got it from is very reputable. And apparently I have an acorn that could grow a tree in an instant.
01:15:44
Speaker
Well, that was at a left field. Okay. Was for me too, but I bought it. Fair enough. Yeah, that might work. I think I'm overthinking it. I'm just, I'm, you know, nervous. This is, this is like my domain, you know, with this sparrow walk, the guy we met and all that stuff. And he, you know, he's a big deal. He's important. Yeah. I'm sure he's not that big of a deal.
01:16:07
Speaker
I know he is so important because him and the people, the group that we met... You know, we should just get to go into the carts, I think. Let's talk about it later. We shouldn't talk about it in person. Arrowhawk. Shadowhawk. What is even that? Let's go to get some carts. Let's not say that loud. Let's just keep walking. Okay. Look.
01:16:26
Speaker
There's someone we could talk to, maybe. So you head into the Caravanessary. I don't think I'm pronouncing that word right. Caravan-sary is how it's written, and I've only ever read the word.
01:16:39
Speaker
But I'm going to go... I always look at Caravanassery. Caravanassery. Caravanassery. How many of the cart sellers are there? Is it just like one? Or is there multiple? This is like a loading bay at the same time. So what you're seeing is a lot of cargo tuning and throwing and you're seeing a CRISPR sort of march in and holding inspections and stuff.
01:17:00
Speaker
But a lot of the commerce seems to center around this one individual, this one individual who has this almost like throne-like lifeguard chair almost above this really ornate purple and gold embossed rug that's just sitting on the sands.
01:17:17
Speaker
And as you go past, you're seeing like, like almost like walking through a car showroom, you're seeing a couple of different models, you're seeing, you're seeing carts for sale and they're bundled together that they're like wagons that you can lift. Then you're seeing these slightly bigger, sorry, carts. And then you're seeing these slightly bigger structures, which are wagons. And then you're seeing these slightly bigger structures as well that are also wheels.
01:17:37
Speaker
And then you're also seeing cutting. I'm so sorry. So I'm seeing all this. Am I seeing them from different vendors? No. So they're all like clustered and people are sort of looking around. But there is there. Everyone is looking and going back to one point and it is this this individual is very opulent individual. That'll tell you more about in a second. But while you're still sort of looking at the product,
01:17:57
Speaker
as well as carts. There is cattle is the right word. There is mounts, livestock creatures that will pull working animals, let's say, that range from camel to horse to elephant.
01:18:12
Speaker
And you can sort of see that the... Fucking elephants. The pens that they're in are a lot more opulent in that scale. So camels and donkeys are sort of at the lower end and you have horses and then you have two or three very choice elephants that are really well-prestined and there are keepers near these animals as well that are clearly vendors themselves.
01:18:36
Speaker
And as you sort of burrow through, you keep picking up the word Kareem, Kareem, Kareem. Everyone's talking about Kareem. And then eventually- But we don't talk about Kareem. We don't talk about Kareem. You eventually get closer and you see this individual who's sat on this raised throne, only about eight, nine feet in the air, but he's sort of looking at everything. And he himself has these orange
01:19:06
Speaker
This orange iconography has this orange turban that has this orange sash that attaches to his wrists and as he sort of speaks he's almost able to manipulate shade around him. He wears this really ornate sort of gold sleeveless vest and just shows these arms that are caked in hair.
01:19:25
Speaker
and then he has these very elaborate sort of gold embossed trousers and he is just sort of looking at every vendor and he has these sort of under vendors that are doing a lot of business for him but he is interested in the high profile individuals that are coming in occasionally taking conversation and the whole time sipping from this really ornate carafe of wine and then he marks two tieflings appear and he has matched your gaze in that moment the two of you and he just sort of
01:19:53
Speaker
almost queen-royal-like rotation of the hand gestures for you to approach. At this, Seth would lean over to Nyx and kind of, with his back to, well, his head turned away so he couldn't be lip-red, would just say, I think that's Kareem. If what we got told earlier was correct, he also runs the mines outside of here. Works for Vossen. Just giving you info.
01:20:24
Speaker
Thanks. Aside from that, I don't know, but this guy looks fucking rich. Maybe going for the whole bowing. Oh, fuck you do it. I don't know. My hands are so sweaty. Okay. Okay. Nick's just shakes himself off and he steps forward. Ah, greetings, esteemed merchant. Kareem. I am Nick's corral. This here is my companion, Seth. We are interested in your wares.
01:20:58
Speaker
He marks you for a moment, and then climbs down from his throne, and stands, he's quite a short individual, about four and a half foot, still human, but pretty short, but confident in his lack of height against two, you know, six foot and horned teethlings, just looks up at you. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, devil-borns.
01:21:26
Speaker
Yes. The pleasure's all mine. Us! You look upon the most famous individual and snake run. Bask in my power. Go on, bask in it. Bask in it. Go on.
01:21:45
Speaker
Believe me, we're bowing. Do some bowing, maybe. Oh, do's that necessary? Oh, Seth is bowing? Yes, of course. With a flourish, Nix will bow. It takes his hat off. Quickest way to feather my ego. Good old bow. Good old bow. Thank you, boys. Now, what can I do you for? Oh, well. I smell coin. I can always smell coin.
01:22:13
Speaker
That's good. Your nose is rather delicate, but I must confess, your cart has pipped my interest. However, I was just wondering, what's the price going for such a fine vessel? I don't deal in a small fry. Where are you going? What do you need? How many people do you need to hold? How many bandits are you likely to get accounted by?
01:22:40
Speaker
on a day-to-day, like how many people want to stab you? Do people, do people do kind of want to bandit us quite a lot? Well, his name's Seth, I've seen his Wanted poster, so, you know, you're gonna get some trouble. I don't think he's wanted, are you wanted? I don't think any Tiefling's are wanted around here. There's someone, the chrisca posted it yesterday, someone called Seth, I'm imagining it's you.
01:23:05
Speaker
Instead you travel with five or six others. I don't see them, but I imagine they're somewhere in town. You can almost hear the sweat pouring out of Seth's face. I can hear the sweat pouring out of his face. That's just the heat. It's very hot here. For a tiefling, I don't think so. I mean, you know, I'm a little bit warm too. Regardless, we're on our way to Scorch Helm and we are in need, apparently, of a cart.
01:23:34
Speaker
Something to pull said car I like the look of the elephant and rations to cover. About a hundred and fifteen rations you find that in town I don't deal with food don't do a free doesn't agree with me some days but the car wonderful I feel like we're making headway will you pull it.
01:23:55
Speaker
A weird, kingly person, a rather rotund, blacksmith, a... I think Baal's gonna walk, to be honest. So, a very, very heavy metal... thing... person. A metal person? Kind of, yeah. Never heard of a metal person before. Well... Imagine dealing with one.
01:24:26
Speaker
That's interesting. Seth that this is going to kind of like shoulder forward a little bit and then muscle must mumble quietly. Just wears a lot of armour. He's not made of metal. Make a deception for me.
01:24:43
Speaker
A deception. He can add a d4. Nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm going to do that. I'm going to do that. A deception is rolling. Oh, thank the fucking Lord. That is a crit for 22 plus. Don't add the d4. You can choose. I choose. You can choose. Then I'm not going to add a d4. Oh, that's a 22. A person who wears a lot of metal then. All right. A metal man. Yes.
01:25:10
Speaker
So what's that? Four people? One walking? That makes about six years. I mean, we're swapping change as the day goes on. Just a cart. I mean, how much is your cart? This is taking a long time to really establish. I'm putting pieces together here, my friend. That man there is Seth. You have six companions. You're the one the abcrisco are after. You need to get out of here in a hurry.
01:25:32
Speaker
Yeah, see, now you're making a lot of assumptions here, my friend, when I was hoping to come to you for the whole package, and you've already told me that I have to go and fuck off elsewhere for the food. So really, look, I'm just coming to you about a cart and a waste of... I don't sell fucking sandwiches, all right? You want to go get some scran, fuck off and get some. Well, that's all right, but I'm sure that I can find some other place here that will sell me everything I want. But if you could just tell me the price of the cart and whatever it is that we need to carry the damn thing,
01:26:01
Speaker
We're sorry. How quick do you want to get there? I sell you the car. I got a price for the car, but the animal that gets you there has different costs. You want to get to scorch helm, is it? Yeah. Four days, one week, or one and a half weeks. I mean.
01:26:29
Speaker
Oh, one and a half weeks fine with me. I've got nowhere to be now. We've cured everything on our side, right, Seth? Seth will nod. Sweating. Well, if you want to take it slow, take one of the donkeys.
01:26:46
Speaker
Okay, your finest donkey and whatever cart that can pull. Yep. There's what, for six of you? I could do that all, let's say, and you're in a hurry. So I'll be sympathetic. 80 gold, 80 gold for the donkey and the cart. Right now. Okay. See, that's okay. You're obviously a man of taste and you're a man who knows a lot about people without even us having to describe or say anything.
01:27:13
Speaker
So that's not a bad, that's quite an agreeable rate. Please. Is there anyone else selling carts or is it just you around here? You're in my space now, boy. Okay.

Evaluating Travel Options

01:27:29
Speaker
You can try with the aquisca.
01:27:31
Speaker
You could try and get in and lift off someone who already has a car. There's a bunch of people going to the scorch helm soon for the duel. You could jump in with them. But I get the impression you want to travel solo. Not really. I like the idea of traveling with a bunch of people, especially with Quiska. They are upstanding folk around here. No, they fucking ain't. I want to see the cart.
01:27:55
Speaker
Which of you, from the fond ways that I can see with my eyes, which is the cart that we may purchase, may I look upon it and bask in the mechanical brilliance? Oh, fuck.
01:28:17
Speaker
Go for it. And he points over to a cluster of three wagons. They're all identical, but they hold about six. People sat down and there's some shelving underneath and a covered top. A bit like something you

Debating Transport Upgrades

01:28:27
Speaker
expect to see out of a Western. He'd go over and kick the wheel of one lightly. It's like just testing the, and kind of just turn and instantly thumbs up to, to Seth. So. Sorry, to Nick's. So 80 gold gets us the cart and the donkey. Yeah.
01:28:46
Speaker
What if we to upgrade our four legs to something with a little bit more speed? Like I said, the elephants will get you there in four days, the horse in about a week. How much is the elephant? And the wagon. And the wagon. Like, you got to understand, you must take into account here the long-term investment potential of such a purchase here. We are
01:29:11
Speaker
quite well known around here and we could become loyal patrons of your establishment. Envision a mutually beneficial relationship wherein my continued patronage is rewarded by favorable pricing and perhaps even exclusive discounts on future acquisitions. I mean all we have to do is engage respectfully in exchange of offers here.
01:29:35
Speaker
My steam merchant, I am confident that together we can reach a mutually beneficial agreement that satisfies both parties and a posturous future. We could even advertise your wares in this upcoming competition that you've already mentioned. And a wise merchant knows that satisfied customer is a true treasure. And that's what we're all after at the end of the day.
01:30:06
Speaker
Like a persuasion check, Nyx. I'm sweating now. Don't forget your eagle splendor benefit. Don't forget your spread eagle. Sorry. I get a varnish, you say? Yep. Someone does. From the spell, yeah.
01:30:27
Speaker
After using Bol's sexy ass advantage, I got a crit, which is a 23. That's two crits back to back. He looks at you. I have one vice in this world, boy, and that is flattery. I do you the elephant. I do you the wagon.
01:30:55
Speaker
Celebrate my name along the road. Putting a good word for me in the capital. 150 gold. I will strike that bargain with you right now, sir. Or I have a counter offer. A man of many talents, I will hear it. Word on the street is...
01:31:21
Speaker
and he just

Secret Deals and Sabotage Proposals

01:31:22
Speaker
sort of pulls you in, and you go to this covered area almost, this sort of tent that exists behind his throne where no one else is really hearing, except you're welcome to follow, he doesn't sort of exclude you. He will follow. What on the street is that chirp? The chriskera moving something in the morning. What would happen is, I'll give you what you want.
01:31:50
Speaker
No cost at all. You get about a mile down the road, maybe, or the thing that you've crisked or after gets about a mile down the road and the cart that the cargo is in just stops working, you know, axle breaks, wheel falls off, birds, shit everywhere, I don't know. But you all, six of you, have to get back here sharpish just to, you know, get some more supplies. You get back to that cart and it's gone.
01:32:20
Speaker
Elephant for free, cart for free. Bob's your uncle. I love the way that you think. How about this? I will give you the very agreeable and notable price of 150 gold. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, my brother. I'm sorry. But the other problem is, and he turns to, uh, to
01:32:50
Speaker
Karim. The other problem is that the metal person that we talked of, he's really heavy sometimes because of the crude mud iron from the north. So that's why I'm happy we got the elephant. He's going to just kind of look at Karim for any kind of thoughts on that. He looks at you blankly. Asta's next.
01:33:21
Speaker
Okay. You don't care about iron. Why would you? Because you sell elephants. Which elephant can I ask? I got kicked in the head as a child. What elephant? Which elephant will we purchase so I may pet it? You can drop the facade. I know you're not a tiefling, mate. Yeah, I am.
01:33:51
Speaker
But to keep the conversation going and the goodwill between two parties, let's just pretend that he is. So, you can have any pick of them free elephants over there. They can all do the job in the right amount of time. You were about to grease some terms, Nicholas. Yes. Uh, next. Very hard. No, on the Nicholas there. Kareem. 150 gold. However, regarding your request,
01:34:22
Speaker
See what I can do. If I have the chance, the situation presents itself. That's advantageous to me and the group around that I'm travelling with. I will destroy, say that it hits a bump in the road and one of the wheels falls off. Who's to know? And I'll bring us back here. If I'm successful in this, you give me back my 150.
01:34:49
Speaker
and we can see how it goes. This way, if

Merchant's Threat and Silence Tax

01:34:52
Speaker
I'm unsuccessful and the opportunity doesn't present itself, you haven't lost anything and we carry on as we did. We advertise and speak well of your name in all avenues. But if I am successful and it works out well for me, I get my gold back. Here's the thing, Nicholas.
01:35:17
Speaker
If you don't, take my second offer. There's gonna be people on the road looking for that boy. But we'll take the first, you can try and be the hero. And then we could just add my silence tax on top. You want the prisoner? I don't know what prisoner you're talking about. You want the cargo?
01:35:45
Speaker
What are you, what's in it for you if I break the car? I just assumed it was because you, of course, would come in and buy a load more cars, but I'm getting the sense that there's something a little bit deeper to this request. I'm not going to divulge too much. You can understand, I'm sure. That's making it really hard to say yes. You understand. We're very similar people, I feel. I've got about seven interested parties in that individual that you, Chris, are currently housing.
01:36:14
Speaker
Okay, so it's the cargo you're interested in. Gotcha. I'll tell you what, 150 gold, and I'll see what happens. You don't have anything to lose there, and if you want to throw people towards us, you're more than welcome, as long as there's no hard feelings if they fail.
01:36:42
Speaker
Strictly business, Nix. Strictly business, Karim. I can shake on 150. You can make a mic. You can shake on 150. And Nix will rip his hand on his long leather coat just to clean up some of the sand and offer it out. And he reciprocates and you shake. So please introduce 150 from your character sheet. You have 150.
01:37:08
Speaker
Yeah. He's got all the fucking money. Oh, thank God. Do you remember? He told Alpha a story and Alpha gave you all his money. And then he took all the money from the cave with the rest of us but hasn't spent it. So, boys, now the second part. My silent tax.
01:37:37
Speaker
yes your wanted poster is about 600 gold these days so um i could claim that i could do half now and i will just pretend that you're not who you are 300 gold for my silence or 600 and uh the chris were gonna pay me what's

High-Stakes Bet on Duel Outcomes

01:37:58
Speaker
it to be
01:38:05
Speaker
I mean, Seth, is there anything you want to say here before I just jump on in? Yes, Seth. Because I feel like I'm not the wanted party here. No, you're not. Seth's going to... Just interested in getting a bead on what you're doing, Seth, before I jump in. You can physically see Cogs turning in his head and...
01:38:34
Speaker
he just freezes up and just stares back at Kareem. Not trying to be intimidating, but just totally unsure how to proceed and just open mouth. Hey, Kareem. And Nix will put an arm around Kareem and usher him back from the shadows more into the open again. I don't know why you're doing this to us. We had a good deal going on. I feel like
01:39:02
Speaker
There is some more gold for you to be earned. Probably not against Seth's name, but more from us buying your wares in the future, especially if we do well in this tournament. I just wouldn't want you to wreck any potential future business for measly 300 gold when there's a lot more to be made for me and my party down the line. Are you sorry? I'm going to cast Charm Person as my arm goes around him. Go for it.
01:39:31
Speaker
What's the save I'm making? 14 wisdom. That's the one where they know they've been charmed afterwards, right? Yeah. Okay. So you cast your spell. It does what you expect it to do from your end. Yeah, I'm just waiting for his response. And he looks at you and he puts an arm around you to reciprocate. Ah, he's going to cast something in return. He just says,
01:40:01
Speaker
You see, I'm minded to enforce my attacks because, my boy, if you, Seth, or any of your metal friend, or any of your other three traveling companions that you've made quite clear, enter the Jewel of Desert Champions, you're not coming out of that jewel alive. I've got friends in that jewel. I've got enemies in that jewel.
01:40:31
Speaker
But there are some individuals in that drill that will eat you for breakfast. Do you understand what I'm saying? I feel like we have a far greater potential to explore this chain of thought further. Hear me out, my friend. Let's park, Seth, and that whole idea of this silence tack just to one side.
01:40:59
Speaker
Let me paint you an image in your mind. You seem very confident that me and my party would fail, probably with our lives, in this duel in Scorch Hill. Am I correct? Because you, you know well, you know more. You certainly know more than I do in this part. Are aware of how difficult that is to succeed. How about this? We pick
01:41:29
Speaker
one person here that we trust both of us trust we go and visit that person and we put down right then and there a bet 1000 gold each on who wins if we win i'll take your thousand gold but and as you're so self-assured that we will fail if i fail
01:41:59
Speaker
And I'll make sure that word reaches back. My money will stay here. You partake my 1000 gold. That's worth more than your silence tax. That's more worth more than all your carts right now, judging by the 150 I've just paid you. And doesn't add a little bit of spice to the upcoming competition. Hey, Savvy. So you're suggesting
01:42:26
Speaker
I delay my request for the tax, and we... You bet on a fighter. I bet on a fighter. Is that right? Is it a single fighter that we bet on? Because if so, absolutely... There can only be one winner. I will bet on a single fighter. You bet on a single fighter. And whoever... A thousand gold apiece? A thousand higher in that order?
01:42:54
Speaker
The highest person wins, yes. Let's keep it simple. Why muddy the waters? If my guy wins, I take your money. If your guy wins, you take my money. I will leave my gold here. It has to be in a trustworthy place, though, that I also agree to. Just so you know that, you know, if it was me that I picked and I die, my gold doesn't die with me. Word will reach back. You can collect your winnings.
01:43:22
Speaker
I'm coming to watch too, mate. Like, you know, we could keep all your gold till we get there. I like this offer. All right. We'll pick this up in Scorch Helm. We forget about this silent tax. For now, yeah. We'll pick this up in Scorch Helm, but we have to agree, names now on who we're picking. So, which fighter are you putting your thousand gold behind?
01:43:53
Speaker
I have a friend. Goes by the name Emron. I'm putting my money behind him. I don't know that name. Must be a newcomer this year. A newcomer. Okay. Fairly confident. Okay. I'm going to put my name against the name I know. Someone who's going to probably win the lot. Could I? No.
01:44:21
Speaker
What is M1? No, I shouldn't ask questions, that'd make it unfair. All right, here's what's gonna happen. You and me, we're gonna shake hands here. Silence is over if M1 wins. My silence is enforced if the Valkyrie wins.
01:44:44
Speaker
And that

Reflecting on Possessions and Challenges

01:44:45
Speaker
is where we are going to end this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop, Bellum Draconis. We got us a car. That wasn't expected. I know. We've got an elephant, people. We've got an elephant. We've got an elephant. I would be happy with the donkey. We've got an elephant though, man. That is conspicuous. That is conspicuous.
01:45:14
Speaker
Why are there an elephant in the desert? Four days though. Elephants cross the desert, it's alright. Four days. How do you think, you know, Hannibal... No, not Hannibal. Who crossed the... Hannibal did the mountains. Enron Carthage. Hannibal Aydre. We got an armour you up, boys.

Gonna do a montage. I know that everyone could morph out a fucking Super Saiyan fairy and let's go Valkyries as well, right? We all remember. Yeah, we all know who the Valkyries are. We know who they think the Valkyries are. Well, yeah, true. However, that was amazing and we hope that you all enjoyed that too sitting there listening and loving us because we love you. Thank you for making us party every day. We, like I said, love you for it.
