Introduction to the Episode and Characters

00:00:00
Speaker
Grazert has cast power word, kill.
00:00:31
Speaker
Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are live playing 5E, D&D podcast, set the magical homebrew world of Aerith. My name is Mark and I'm the Dungeon Master and I can see all you in the faces. So I'm not going to look at you. And thank you for joining us in this week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. With us for today's episode and our kind of run to the end, we've got Will who plays the human bard, Karstan.
00:00:51
Speaker
This is the end? Really? Nobody told me! We've got Callum, who plays the name sorcerer of Folly Fizzibank the Ninth. It's the final countdown. Darren, who plays the human fighter Rogue Robin. I am so excited. We've got Danny, who plays the human cleric Claude. Gonna get killed! We've got Casey, who plays the human champion Helena Sleetguard. And Ian, who plays the dragonborn barbarian paladin Drago.
00:01:18
Speaker
What up? That took way too long. It's the delay. Can we check your lag, please? This is happening. This is happening, guys. Poor. Poor, indeed. When we start, it means it's going to end. It's a pending doom. I'm going to get some energy up. Can we do some sort of class activity? No.
00:01:41
Speaker
on last week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. It's been almost a month, probably, since you've listened to an episode of it, so just go back and listen. I'm not going to give you a full recap, but basically, we have ourselves in a bit of a situation where we are surrounded by the blight deep in the blightlands near the tower of the tower. And we are working our way there. We have, unfortunately, though, come across, stumbled across, totally by accident, actually. I don't know what he's doing there. Grazert, who has appeared and has held up, cast... Yeah, thanks for that.
00:02:06
Speaker
Well, you know, I had this plan. I had this beautiful image in my head of us all riding towards the tower and then you'd go and sling him in there. You didn't have to come back. You can do it. Yeah. Who fell off first? You fell off first. Him and, uh, Folly. Him. This is good for a podcast. We're having to get used to beating around a table again. I think it was both me and Callum simultaneously. It was within the same round, I think. Within six seconds of each other. So to your fault, we all die.
00:02:35
Speaker
So we've got Drago and Claude who are staying behind to face the indomitable force of Grazert.

The Party's Dilemma and Decision Making

00:02:41
Speaker
We have the remainder of the party, which is Castan Folly. Danica Castan Folly. Let me say Darren, that's why. Robin and Helena on horseback.
00:02:52
Speaker
And we are still kind of in the same area at the moment. And that's kind of all I'm going to say really before we get into the beginnings of this. I feel like you're holding out on a lot of information for us, Mark. The dramatic effect. I was literally about to like give it a pause and start and then we'll interrupt. Stop being a producer.
00:03:13
Speaker
I'm just, I'm so nervous. I've got this nervous energy that I need to shake out on me. Oh my God. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He's going to have a wank, it's fine. He
00:03:39
Speaker
And Bravo doesn't actually wear many places. Like proper scary movie style, you take off the throw that's there and it should... The boulder's glowing. Well, land on my crotch. It's like a cushion. I've heard that one before, it won't work.
00:03:59
Speaker
What happened? What is happening? What's going on? I'm trying to give up. All seriousness though, listeners, thank you for tuning in for the finale and we hope that you enjoyed what's to come as much as we do. And you can follow us on Twitter and you can also find us individually. All right, fucking start. Now. Oh my god. Good god. A breath of wind whispers across the barren lands of the blight.
00:04:26
Speaker
In your nearest field of vision, you can see puffs of steam emanating from your mouth. You're panting hard. The air begins to creep colder and colder. The sounds of battles fade further and further as your heart beats faster and faster. The fourth Legion to the north, Sally's off into the distance. And in this heartbeat of silence, in this moment's pause between what feels like the inevitability of the end, for one or the other, you take a second to think.
00:04:54
Speaker
You think about where you have been, where you have come from. You take a second to think back on those you have impacted on your life and those that you have had an impact on. You think back to the Osran Islands. You think back to Clay Peak, to Bleakmoor, Evershire, Blackmouth, Goldview. You think of all those people that you could save.
00:05:22
Speaker
You think of all those people who at this moment, in this place, at this time, are relying on you. You think of those around you. Think of those comrades and friends and family that you formed over these past few months. A deeper, more resounding crack of lightning arcs through the air which jolts you from your memories. You look around, you see the desolation, the destruction, the death.
00:05:50
Speaker
You hear the horses bray. You see the nightmare horde of the blight surrounding your three flanks and you ask yourself a single question. Have I made the right choice? Have I done the right thing? Drag out in Claude you find yourselves face to face with an enemy that has eluded you your entire journey.
00:06:09
Speaker
Helena, Robin, Carstan, Folly. You are, as I mentioned earlier, on horseback. And you can see the standoff in place between these three individuals. You look north and you can see the fourth. You can see your way through. As you look up, you can see the fourth, making their way closer and closer towards the tower. The tower. The cracked black and bristling tower, your mission.
00:06:32
Speaker
You know you have limited time as the hordes of the Blight slowly begin to creep in around you. Their fate is that which will form the nightmares for years to come. But are too complicated, too visceral, too painful to describe even for yourselves stood in front of them. You have, all of you, a decision to make. A path to take and a world to save. Helena, Robin, Castan, Folly, firstly. What do you want to do?
00:07:04
Speaker
Thank you for joining us on this week's episode of The Point. Holy shit, that was a great opening. So we're not that far away from Claude and Drago, are we? No, you're approximately about 40 feet away from them. That's fine. So I'm going to also give, I'm going to give Bionic inspiration to Claude.
00:07:26
Speaker
Okay, and Drago, you've still got Bardic Inspiration from the previous episode, so you've got your D10 to use whenever. Claude, you also have a D10 to use whenever for any D20 rolls. Go get them, Claude. So really, the plan is to leave them. We're not going back for them. Robin's going to just stir his horse towards the tower, and he's just going to say, the time for looking back is done, Helena.
00:07:54
Speaker
Drago's made his choice. He knows what he wants to do. One life for millions, Helena. We know what we have to do. We have the resources, the materials. We have the experience. Yeah, let's go with that. We've got a book and a dagger. It's all we need. Well, exactly. She's just going to kick on the horse to make it gallop.

The Battle with Grazert Begins

00:08:16
Speaker
Yeah, I'm going to spur my horse into a dash and just take off towards the tower. Okay, Folly, cast up.
00:08:23
Speaker
Well, I ended the last episode on the back of Helen, of course, so I'm still there. Of course you are, of course. Knits out. Knits out. He is standing dramatically, just rubbing his nips, like...
00:08:39
Speaker
No, her arm is like cutting through your nips. This nipple thing comes from the very light. I have no idea. I mean, to be fair, the eye's cold of the arm and that might feel all right. It might feel quite nice. It might lactate. Like braces. You might lactate. We don't know what no one's doing this person. I'm sorry, what is the temperature? Well, you can see your breath. It's a balmy four degree. It's, you know, nip.
00:09:17
Speaker
I was just seeing if there was anything else I could cast to help.
00:09:26
Speaker
I do have a wish, in fact, yes I do. I'm going to spend seven of my bardic sorcery points too. No, there's nothing I can do. You're not falling, you can't do this. Carson's going to look back and try and fix this image of Drago and
00:09:43
Speaker
Claude facing it against Grazit so that he can write about it at a later time and then he will turn his horse away and catch up with the others. And I'm imagining that Robin we've kind of got you at the front of this flying V formation with then cast down on the right and Helena and Folly maybe on the left as you head up through this kind of open sea. I'm imagining it's kind of like the seas of
00:10:07
Speaker
The Red Sea. The Red Sea parting almost as the lines of the obsidianus kind of hold back the waves and the ocean of the undead, or not the undead, the blight that follow either side. And cast them as you fit that image and you try and take it all in, the camera kind of pans over to those three and the concentration, the stillness that
00:10:30
Speaker
seems to emanate from this this this triumvirate of individuals firstly you see your friend drago you see your friend claud and then the other figure to the south furthest away from your nine foot tall humanoid small human eyes skin a dark black stretched over a muscular torso head holding a series of six tiny black horns and thick black hair almost covering them
00:10:54
Speaker
a topless apart from these two small metallic pauldrons on the shoulders, legs with ancient armour upon them down to his bare feet and across his back, which now he reaches up for, there's a long arched greatsword that has a little wave to it, which he pulls out with a single hand and holds down and you can see the blade just dripping, something green that seems to fizz on the ground for each drop as it falls.
00:11:21
Speaker
As the rest of your party turn and make their way towards the tower, Grazert stands, sword in hand, looking at you both, and is motionless. He doesn't say anything, he just looks from Drago to Claude and then back again. Is there anything you want to do or say? I will just turn to Drago.
00:11:45
Speaker
Still looking at him, don't want to make eye contact with Jaro. I just say onto his shoulder, do what you do best. Don't think about me.
00:11:57
Speaker
Are you ready for this? Drago's bouncing on the balls of his feet. Eyes locked with Grazer as well, not looking at Claude. Just hand and fingers strengthen their grip on Dengon's deception in his hand. I'm ready. Okay, let's do this. Final time. And Drago's going to set himself, Claude's digging to the ground, and he's going to run forwards towards Grazer.
00:12:27
Speaker
And as your feet pound through the dirt towards Grazet getting closer and closer, you realise now quite seriously how surrounded you have become. The blight arm moving in there, walking in slowly, turn after turn, second after second in on you as Grazet stands, perfectly still, sword in hand, perfectly balanced, seems ready for what's about to happen. Could I ask that you both roll initiative please?
00:12:53
Speaker
Okay, we've got some information to get off you. So, Claude, what did you roll for? 18. 18, thank you very much. Drago? 22. What's your Dex modifier? Oh, plus one. Okay.
00:13:07
Speaker
My heart is fucking pounding. Drago, top of the round, you are running directly towards this open level ground around you. A few stones and rocks, but nothing that would cause any kind of issue when it comes to your combat. What do you want to do? Okay, so I'm running towards Grazette and the rage is palpable.
00:13:30
Speaker
point inside of me, both hands on the hill of Dengland's deception and I'm running with the sword as I'm starting to run. I rotate the sword so it comes from behind Drago's head and as he
00:13:45
Speaker
I'm assuming I can get to Grazep. Yeah. Okay. As soon as I'm within striking distance, I'm going to bring Dengal's Deception with both hands and all my might straight down on top of him. Okay. Roll to hit. Interesting question. If you kind of visualize where Drago is, Dengal's Deception, how much bigger is Grazep? He has a head taller than you. Fair enough.
00:14:14
Speaker
Okay, roll the hit. Let's do this. 24 to hit. Hits. Yes! Wow. Already doing well. I've really wanted like an actual one. Easy, easy. 24's pretty good. 3rd level boss. 21 points of slashing damage. Add radiant. 2d8. 8 points of radiant damage. 22, 30 in total. Yep.
00:14:42
Speaker
Not a bad first hit. As the sword comes slashing down, it almost glows with this imminent energy. You can hear the buzzing of Akiva in your ears as it slices down across his chest. He doesn't move, but you see the damage and he doesn't even, there's no reaction to what you've just done.
00:15:01
Speaker
Okay, Drago's eyes narrow as he witnesses the zero reaction that Grazia has given, shakes his head just to kind of rid these thoughts so he can get himself back in the battle and readies his stance. From his lead foot to his back foot, he's going to take Dengong's deception and just strike for the heart of Grazia in one plain movement. Okay, roll to a hip.
00:15:25
Speaker
That's 29 to hit. Yep, that hits. Mark's just stomping the AC into the health of the monster. I don't have that thing where 19 is a crit, do I? No, no, no, no, no. What, you won off a crit? I always won off a crit. I won off a crit, that's 29, my lord. 16 points of slashing damage and 3 points of radiant damage. Oh, 2d8 and you got 3. Yup. That's disgusting.
00:15:55
Speaker
But I hit him, I hit him. Power of Akiva is in me. And the power of Claude is beside me. This guy, I, yeah, okay, I'm feeling it. Drag is feeling confident. He's gone into this fight and because of the first hit striking, which is not what happened the last time these two met, his confidence has suddenly just jumped up a notch where before,
00:16:17
Speaker
He was steely determination. Now there is a slight hopeful edge that's kind of overtaken himself. And as he finishes his go, he's just going to hold out Dengong's deception in front of him and study, analyze Grazia. He's going to study his position, his hand on the heel of his own blade, and where his feet are set up, getting ready to kind of lose himself within the fight to come. Okay, awesome. Thank you very much.
00:16:47
Speaker
Grazert looks at you looking at him, he's getting a bit weird now, and is just going to touch the tip of his sword against the ground in front of careful. I wouldn't know where that was going. Grazert looks at him and touches his tip. And he touches the tip of Drago. I mean, he is a rather sexual beast. No, he's going to touch the tip of the sword against the ground just in front of you, Drago, and this
00:17:17
Speaker
a strangely iridescent black light seems to ripple out from that current position. And it fires in a cone towards both Drago and Claude.

Drago's Desperate Stand

00:17:29
Speaker
Could you both make constitution saving throws, please? No. How about that? You got inspiration. And just remember, you have to use inspiration before you know the result. So you can roll the dice, but you have to use it before Mark tells you whether it's the same thing. If you want to use it, no.
00:17:48
Speaker
I can take that all the way to the bank. Did you say? You can use Baddick Inspiration. Fucking using that. Yeah, 1v10. Thank you. Because that was a 10. 16. Okay, and Claude, 22. I don't like it. Cool. Okay, so Claude, you take...
00:18:13
Speaker
10 points of Thunder damage and 10 points of Necrotic damage. And Drago, you take 20 points of Thunder damage and 20 points of Necrotic damage and you are knocked prone as he's cast in a 5th level Evocation destructive wave and this energy of just kind of
00:18:37
Speaker
The kind of world itself and evil itself combined emanates out from just as the very point of his sword touched the ground almost like electricity when you get two wires that really shouldn't touch. This energy just fires out towards you both. Yes, casting destructive waves. I rolled a 19 on my concentration check, so the holy weapon is still in effect. Thank you for checking that. This is going to be a real quick battle. He smiles up at you both.
00:19:08
Speaker
Smiles up. Top down it. Oh, down, yes, of course he's taller. I'm used to, you know, it being me. I smile up everyone. And he's just going to rest his sword in his hand on his shoulder, kind of the point of it ending up behind his neck. He's going to rest it there and look back at you, Claude, your turn.
00:19:27
Speaker
You said Drago made it to him in one turn's movement. Yeah, you had the same kind of distance if you wanted to get in. Yes, so I will use all of my movement to get... Is it possible to get into a flanking position so I can get behind him? Yeah, there's open ground so you can still make it behind him. Yeah, so I'll get myself into flanking position so Drago would be able to attack with advantage.
00:19:42
Speaker
I'm going to use my bonus action to use Eyes of the Grave on Grazit, so the next hit he takes from, well, anything, but Drago, it's fully vulnerable, so it takes double damage from everything that's hit. And then my action will be to take the dodge action, please. Okay, thank you very much. Top of the round, Drago.
00:20:04
Speaker
You're prone. I'll take half a movement to stand up. You're in front of him anyway. Okay. So Drago will stand up and kind of try and brush himself off a little bit. Uh, he's going to, he's going to remember what he can fucking do because it's been that long and shit's already hit the fan. So bear with me.
00:20:33
Speaker
Okay, so yes, Draghi is going to stand up. He's going to shake himself off. Breathe deep and strike again. Do I get advantage? Okay. Well, the first one was 29. Rolling well. And the other one was 26. So 29 hit first off.
00:20:51
Speaker
Oh, nice, yeah, cool. I'm going to, I'm, yeah, me, yeah, what is it called? Grazet is, as the sword comes down, he doesn't even move from his position. The sword comes down directly towards his skull, towards his head to cleave his brain in twain. He just disappears out of him and he's the teleport legendary action. And he's gonna appear directly behind Claude.
00:21:13
Speaker
So I strike thin air. Yes Okay, so as a as this bonus action drago is going to enter a frenzy Rule notes, so you can't interrupt his action because it happens The point is the reaction so his turn and then you use your reaction to then react to his turn Yeah, but it's not limited like I literally just read that there. I was like at the end Yeah
00:21:44
Speaker
Yeah, I really appreciate that, thank you. I'm just going to keep the DM in line here. I love the Danny's face, I don't want Danny to feel disheartened by the fact that he's the eye to the grave just for news. Yeah, so the whole point of the lead reaction is too, because of the whole action economy is to give the bad guy a better chance against a party of players. So it's a reaction and the point is they renew each time you turn, you're going to use one react.
00:22:08
Speaker
Each reaction can only be used once. You can't use Teleport again in a damage turn, but at the end of your turn, they refresh. Yeah, that's something I was getting confused with. Cool. Thank you very much for clearing that up, William. You're welcome. So you hit anyway. I'm going to stick with Teleport anyway because that's what he was going to do. So that's 19 points of damage, 10, a slashing 9 of radio. Double to 38.
00:22:33
Speaker
The shoulder this hit comes smashing in just glancing off his skull and hitting into his clavicle almost the shot comes in and as you kind of pull down on the sword to kind of push through his body that's when he disappears and shimmies behind shimmy's he doesn't shimmy behind behind cast start okay as my sorry
00:22:53
Speaker
As my sword suddenly comes free from not being able to hit a person, it hits the ground from the force of the blow that I was inflicting at the time. How far is he now? He is five feet, ten feet away from you. He's basically, you move forward five feet. I've still got half my movement, so with Dengone's deception held out in front of me in a defensive position.
00:23:13
Speaker
Drago's going to sidestep until he's behind Grazat, so we're constantly clawed one side, Drago the other, and that's how we're going to chain our movements. As a bonus action, I'm going to enter frenzy. Okay, that's my goo.
00:23:32
Speaker
I still don't know how to do this game. So as a second attack, I'm going to, from Dengel's deception being a middle plane, he's going to do a 360 spin and just slice the mid-width of Grazette for a 29 again. You're rolling so well. So well. It's like another 29, two 19s in a row. Oh my lord. He's going to fucking die, maybe.
00:23:59
Speaker
Shame that damage is a heap of ass. That's 13 points of slashing and 10 points of radiant.
00:24:12
Speaker
Nice. So I'll do that again? It's at 26 in total. 13 and 10. 23. Doesn't double, it's only the first hit though. Sorry, okay cool. So yeah, that was 13 points of slashing and 10 points of radiant damage. 20. As Dengel's deception, glowing holier than thou.
00:24:30
Speaker
Pierce is the mid-width of Grazette. Drago's still kind of steely determination back. Hope slightly knocked a little bit by your last movement against me, but there is fire within Drago's eye. Right, and he's going to, it's Grazette's turn, he's going to be a little bit taken aback by this, kind of the closeness of your combat that you both are bringing towards him. And he's going to attack Claude first. He's going to attack first time with his- Disadvantage.
00:24:59
Speaker
Oh yes, you are taking the dodge action. That's a natural one. So yes, he's going to miss that first attack. Woof, it flies past. He's going to spin around and take the second attack against Drago.
00:25:15
Speaker
That is not particularly good, but... Might say AC is shit, so... There's 15 against your armor class. No, that misses! And cock. Yes! Okay. He takes his two swings, misses, and he's going to look up at you, Drago, and then smile as he casts Crown of Madness. So, can you make a Wisdom saving throw? Oh, it's not a charm spell. Yeah, charm. Because I can break through that shit. So, Drago will...
00:25:42
Speaker
look back at Grazette and smile himself as he shakes his head. As he doesn't, he's immune to charm because he's raging like fuck.
00:25:53
Speaker
Yep. I remember that. And then he'll, he'll take one hand up from Dengon's deception and raise it up in front of Garza's face and do a bring it motion. Oh, like in the matrix. More like the rock. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Well, anytime that anyone needs to lay some ass kicking. Yeah. I was expecting this.
00:26:16
Speaker
Let's do it. The middle finger, for all the listeners, will just raise his hand and then the middle finger instead. Okay, thank you very much for making my big bad feel like this is a reminder of the first time before we even started recording where I had my monologue planned for my first big baddie at the Yawning Portal and you won shot him, do you remember? I do.
00:26:38
Speaker
I see what I'm so sorry. Grant, it's your turn. Claude, it's your turn. Okay. Claude is doing his best to disguise how unwell he's feeling and is going to take a deep breath and use a level seven spell heal and give Drago 70 hit points. Holy shit. Holy is right. And then...
00:27:03
Speaker
Sadly, I'm going to explode the holy element of his... of Drago's... of Dengon's deception. Damn. To cause an effect. But it will mean that Drago no longer adds the 2d8 radiant. Okay. So, Mark, I believe you make... Okay. Constitution saving throw. He passes. He passes. In which case? I choose. Doesn't even know what the DC is. You take half of this damage.
00:27:33
Speaker
I don't know, I've only got 3 and I thought I might as well use it. You take... 16. Sorry, half. 8 radiant damage. Holy shit.
00:27:49
Speaker
Okay. And that's my turn. We're still in flanking army, so I don't need to play around in the movement. Correct, you are still flanking. That's my turn. He's going to cast Crown of Madness on you, Claude. Can you make a wisdom saving throw? You're asking a cleric to make a wisdom saving throw? Yeah. They can make that for days, mate. 27.
00:28:12
Speaker
They can make them for days while you're like plus 10 on your hand, you're like plus 10 and it was the same place. Yep. You pass. Let's not anger the DM here. You know? And he's going to snarl at you. Grr, off our mental tissue. Grr. Oh, just like that, um, Darren, just like that. Grr. No, more seriously than that. He's got an evil look in his eye. More evil than an evilness.
00:28:39
Speaker
Uh, that is the end. Yeah. Pink Eye. That's the end of, uh, Claude's at the end of your turn. Yup. Drago, your turn. Dare I ask, what would you like to do? Uh, Dengong's Deception's gonna, uh, reach up itself. No. Drago's gonna take Dengong's Deception, reach it over his head and slam down on the first attack.

The Race to the Tower

00:29:01
Speaker
I'm still in advantage. That's 26 as a first hit. What? Yes.
00:29:06
Speaker
20 is the second hit. I haven't got radiant damage anymore, right? No. 14 points of slashing damage. You have advantage, but not if you needed it. And then as dengue deception goes straight down, it's going to go from the ground straight back up for a second attack. Okay, roll to hit. 21 on the first. 21. And 13. Does 21 hit? It does.
00:29:37
Speaker
Guys, 19 points of slashing damage. And then, because he's frenzied, he gets a third attack, so as the dengel deception reaches up past Grazet's face, it comes right back around and down into the middle for a third attack. For a 20.
00:29:58
Speaker
Oh no. That's 20 to hit. That misses. At the end of that series of attacks, he's going to turn and he's going to lift up Wave of Sorrow, his own sword, and try and hit you with it. I rolled a 2, so that's 13 against your armor class. Second one is going to be a 19 against your armor class. That hits. Okay. Yes, finally. Should we hit you with it? Should we hold a bait or fly? Thanks, Will. I've got loads of room here, you see.
00:30:29
Speaker
We are going to roll some dice. You are going to take 19 points of slashing damage. Halved? Yes. No, that hasn't been halved. Okay, cool. That will be. It's magical slashing damage. Doesn't matter. He still halved it. And 15 points of acid damage. Acid!
00:31:00
Speaker
That's the end of my go yeah what that was all in my go okay
00:31:12
Speaker
Okay. Okay. Uh, so Drago is going to, um, after taking that damage and feel the acid sear, uh, through his own skin as the, he's starting to feel the burn off from the inside. He's going to reset his stance, shake his head, try not to lose any resolve and, uh, bring dealing on deception up in a defensive stance. He is still, uh, he's still in the game. Okay.
00:31:41
Speaker
It's Grazert's turn. He's going to turn to Claude. And he's going to say... I'm going to have to go for it. He's going to turn to Claude and say, enough of this. And he's going to point the finger towards you. And he mutters a word under his breath that you cannot hear.
00:32:08
Speaker
Um, Claude, how many health points do you have? 30. Grazit has cast power, word, kill. Okay. That's a word of power that can compel one creature you can see within range to die instantly. If the creature you choose has 100 hit points all the fewer, it dies. Otherwise the spell has no effect. Reaches out, and a single finger.
00:32:37
Speaker
points towards your face, towards your head and a small thin black beam just slowly moves towards you and just touches you on the head and you just sit down on the floor and just sit kind of on your bum still upright still cogent for now but you're just sat on your bum for all intents and purposes you're not yet
00:33:06
Speaker
deceased, but you are... Is that making any sense? No. You're dead. Okay. But you, for the purpose of cinematography... It's like bleeding out. A chance for you to have a word. Yeah, sorry. I had a, once I hit a certain threshold and I roll a dice, I use it on the next. Just nothing I can do to bring him back.
00:33:35
Speaker
Are you asking me, the DM now? Yeah, just in general, like a potion, does that bring that back from that? We need a resurrection spell. No, he, yeah, yeah, he, this is like, he bypassed all the death save and that kind of stuff, it's just... He turns to you now, Drago. Just holds his hands up, sword in one hand, open palm in the other, looking towards you. Is this not better? You wanted more power.
00:34:05
Speaker
Is this not the way this was always going to go? Join with me, Drago, and together I will give you what you want. What you crave. What you need. That's the end of his time. Just pausing there a second. Oh, thank God. What time are we on? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:34:39
Speaker
I thought it might be a con save. I thought there was a con save in there. I can cancel out a natural 20 and I thought, I don't think clerics have a counter spell. I looked, I was like, I'm just going to check he doesn't have a save. That's why I paused in that moment because I was looking going, hang on a minute, because with this integrate, there was the constitution saving. It's one of those. That's it. It's one and done.
00:35:07
Speaker
hoping they've got the monster down. I thought this was coming, that's why. I watched him roll the dice as well, I was like... That's why I healed you for so much, because I felt like something like that was... He was watching Mark's face when he rolled the dice. He did bring it back to full health. Mark's face was looking quite glum when he rolled the dice next. That was the Shader face.
00:35:29
Speaker
And I could tell because you all went oppressively quiet and you're like, oh no, it's that thing. Right. It was when you said the same, pretty much the same kind of thing. I've rolled it now. Kind of do it. Yeah, literally. I'm like, I can roll. No, I can't roll that back. So with here, with Graz at open palm facing you on with that revelation towards you, Drago, the camera is going to move back and out and rush towards our four heroes making their way towards the tower. It's probably out of place a little bit with that song.
00:36:00
Speaker
And the hooves, the hooves of the obsidian horses pound the pound, pound apparently, the wet, peaty earth beneath you, clouds of steam rise from their backs as their nostrils, and their nostrils as they suck in the cold, acrid air. Your fingers are numb, the horse nearby holding one of your companion strikes the mangled corpse of one of the blights, and you hear a thud to the ground. You see the littered bodies of the war thrown haphazardly around. You hear a crackling note echo from the fourth.
00:36:28
Speaker
A rallying cry. Your horse without warning breaks into a higher gear of speed towards the tower. Please can I ask that the four of you make animal handling checks please as your horse has basically jumped into a higher gear. Can Helena do it with advantage because I'm technically on her horse? Why don't you get advantage on her horse? Because I can help. If we need to turn it the extra way she's got a little bit of extra weight. No it's basically can you... Can you stay on the horse basically? Yeah so it's individual. Let's try though.
00:37:03
Speaker
Let's start with your faces all firmly with joy, I'm sure. Helena, what'd you get? Four. Brilliant. Robin, what'd you get? Six. I'm sorry. Oh my God. Are we still within the ring of... Are we out of the ring of... You're out of the ring of the blight, but you're in the corridor of death here.
00:37:26
Speaker
Folly, what did you get? Five. Oh my god. Oh my god. I feel really happy. This is the highest roll. Fourteen.
00:37:36
Speaker
You are the only one on your horse. This was literally just a quick, just do a quick animal handling check and then off we go. The three of you as these horses kind of peter into a higher gear and you're not off your horses, you'll get a dexterity saving throw to see if you can maintain positions on it. So could I ask please that Helena, Robin and Folly, could you please make dexterity saving throws to see if you can stay on the horse? I'll tell you the DC as well. It's going to be 15.
00:38:07
Speaker
So, Folly, what'd you get? Nine. You are not good on horses at the moment there, my friend. I'm not good on anything. Robin. Twenty, not natural. OK, cool. Thank you. And Helena? Four. OK. Well, it kind of works because you're both from the same horse, so maybe you've just got the Usain Bolt. You picked a really bad route, I think. Or maybe you've got the Usain Bolt of horses, and as it just takes up that second speed, you guys just whoop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, bo
00:38:35
Speaker
For the second time, you two, that remain in your horses, Robin, only just by a hair's width do you manage to grab hold of the reins and pull yourself back into position on this incredible beast that just, you didn't think it could be sprinting any faster and suddenly breaks into a faster speed. You look about and you do very obviously see them both fallen from their horses. The horse is still galloping alongside you. What do you two want to do? Can I try and reach and grab the reins of the now rideless horse?
00:39:05
Speaker
and bring both that and my horse to a stop so we can pick them back up please. Yeah, it's going to be a bit of a... Would you want to get the horse closer? I'll lean in from the other side as I was... The idea is that we're imagining that the reins live and grab the reins and try and pull on mine and the horse's reins and hopefully it'll respond and start.
00:39:23
Speaker
Gotcha. What kind of role would you do for that? What would you want for that? I was trying to think one way. I would imagine animal handling, unless you want to give me something else. I was thinking about the... Slow of hand or... No, we'll go with animal handling. But do it with advantage if Robin's helping from the opposite side, or I'll give you the advantage. You do it because my animal handling is cash. Okay. Cash. Yeah. Okay, good job with that advantage here. But it falls in eight. And that's with the bonus. And that's better.
00:39:49
Speaker
17. Nice, you managed to pull the horse slower and your own horse slower into position. Just as it feels like it's about to break and pull away from you, Robin grabs the other side of the reins and between you both you managed to control this incredibly fast horse. Both Helena and Folly though, you've taken four points of bludgeoning damage as you've flooded into the ground. You've fallen off a horse in your tiny. I know. But yes, you are in a position now where you have the horse under control.
00:40:17
Speaker
How far have we lost? What's the stopping distance of a horse? We've worked hours from physics now. It's about 40 feet you've managed to travel since you managed to grab hold of a horse. Realise what's happening and also stop the horse. And what's happening inside of us?
00:40:35
Speaker
You've got about 50 feet of space either side, and it is hand-to-hand combat. You're talking, which is the next thing I was going to talk to you, and the forward phalanx of the horses are pretty much stopped, not stalled, but stopped because you can see through. You can see through to the tower. You see soldiers fighting monsters of every capacity, battle in its kind of rawest form, good versus evil. The rain is pouring down at this point now. It is heavy, fast rain pouring over you, almost blocking bits of your sight.
00:41:03
Speaker
Have myself and Helena kind of stabilise on our feet. Yeah, I'll say you're back up on your feet now. And again, looking around, you realise the kind of position you are in. Can I just turn to Helena quickly and say, quick, jump on the sack.
00:41:16
Speaker
Sorry. Get on my back, come on. Right, I'm quite heavy. Yeah, you are. So, Helena's going to jump on his back. Yeah, it's the only thing I can't, it's just trying something. You're going to see how fast he can actually fly. They stopped, but I've still got fly on, so I'm going to see just how fast I can actually fly with Helena on, technically on my rucksack.
00:41:41
Speaker
You have to break concentration check before you know. Oh yeah, true. I'll do concentration check first, that's fair. That might actually change things. I don't know how much I weigh. No, it's a straight D20 for concentration. I rolled a 16 anyway, so I've still got fly. Okay, I'm going to have to Google this. How long is that going to take for? If it's going to be a pain in the backside, I can redo something. I can't count that at a time for. What, fly? 10 minutes.
00:42:12
Speaker
Okay. What is your carry weight limit?
00:42:27
Speaker
And I will work out how heavy plate-mail armor is and give you a generic athletic. Be on your couchy. Yeah, well, I can't... Yeah, that's probably a lot more than what Elinor weighs. I was just trying to look, Fred, but I don't know where I'm looking. Yeah, 135 pounds. Yeah. You weigh 142 and a half pounds, currently, with everything on. It's not as bad as what I was expecting. What do you want unencumbered if you have it? And that's unencumbered.
00:42:49
Speaker
No, no, that's your total weight. That's how much you weigh. Yeah, yeah. Don't worry about that. The incumbent is for count. Very personal. Sorry, I'm asking you about your weight. Oh, hell no. So you are encumbered, but there's... Okay, right, right. Okay. What happens when you're encumbered? I've never been encumbered. I think it's half your speed. It can't be. But it would half your speed if you were walking. But it has nothing to do with the magical properties of flying. There's nothing in it that says anything particular about a flying weight. But this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to add in a check.
00:43:19
Speaker
an athletics check. Okay. Or a strength check. Strength check. Just strength check, I think. Straight strength. We add your modifier. You mean take away my modifier. Yes. 12. Okay. Cool.
00:43:40
Speaker
go ahead whilst this is happening robin is just going to just look at this confusion it's just going to shout move back in there i'm trying i'm trying i don't know what his plan is but i think it's working so what was that one yeah with helena on my back still i'm not aiming for height as much i'm just trying to get
00:44:00
Speaker
just slightly above the height of the horse and just try and get enough speed while they slow down to put us back on the horse. That's all I want to do. Okay. You get probably about halfway towards about 40, out of the 40 feet, probably get 20 feet there at that height, kind of horse level height.
00:44:18
Speaker
before Helena just thuds off the backpack and just falls hard to the ground. I try to kind of piggyback her but it's just too damn heavy and you were kind of like faltering as you were flying anyway like a plane that's too heavy. Don't worry, I'll just make a run for it. Let's just get back on the horse! Come on!
00:44:39
Speaker
Yeah, I'm running for the horse. That's what I'm doing. I will fly alongside her at the very least. Okay. I won't leave her behind. I'm going to ready my bow and just put anything that comes towards Helena. I'm going to provide cover and fire for. And the arrow thuds into nearby.
00:44:54
Speaker
zombie looking creature that seems to have broken through the ranks as you look right now you see the number of the obsidianis along your area of this this kind of thin passageway through the blight start to crumble and die in a fall as the undead see the blight seem to kind of pour in behind you now running you down chasing you down urged on by some other force and
00:45:14
Speaker
As I said, the rain's pouring fast and heavy over you all. It's muting the size of the combat. It feels like this is only now a small battle, not the gargantuan fight that this thing really is because the rain seems to remove the echo, the sound from these encounters. You hear no echoing cries of war. Only the panicked breaths of the mortals and snarls and whelps of those creatures drawn from the tower. You managed to make it to the horse. Are you staying flying, Folly? Or are you? No, no, no. Just in case I'm still wrestling back on the horse.
00:45:41
Speaker
Because you're back on the horse and are you jumping on the horse as well, Hannah? I imagine you're holding on to your shoulders, your legs swimming in there. You managed to get on the back of the horse and we're about 10 feet and the ranks have fully broken through now and they are literally following you along, closing up that final gap. You are now totally cut off from Drago and Claude behind. It's just forward, you've only got the north now to go, the south has been taken from you.
00:46:07
Speaker
You see a soldier of the obsidianus as you get back on your horse fighting a beast which seems to be this horrific cross between a wolf and a demon. He catches your eye and screams, HELP US PLEASE! Passage through to the tower. To get through to the tower now is narrow and tenuous. Beyond the thin black line of mortal soldiers you can just see the sea of the blight pushing down on them, waiting for another crack. A gap to your north to break through and trap you. What do you want to do?
00:46:35
Speaker
Now, if we falter, all of this is in vain. You don't think we should help them? How? If we stay and fight, we lose anyway, and their deaths are in vain.
00:46:48
Speaker
Robin's not saying anything. He's disagreeing with Karstan and just steadies his gaze towards the tower. Phil's wrapped with guilt and not helping people, which is his natural instinct. But we'll just kick his horse into a canter. Folly, is there any way that you can turn and face the rest of... I've got the horse. I know where we're going. Can you turn and face the rest of what's behind us and do something for any sort of support?
00:47:12
Speaker
One second. Let me just check my spell book. I will see. I mean, short of just chucking some fire bolts in there and just trying to take down a few of the blight that way. Pissing into the wind. Yeah. It's literally like a tiny grain of sand into an ocean at the moment.
00:47:29
Speaker
You could pertain to any of the faster outliers that make their way closer to be specifically picking them off, like how Robin was just like anything that gets close. Yeah, I think Folly's still going to be quite reserved because he doesn't know what's going to be ahead when we get there. So, Helena's request, he's going to turn round. He's still got like a hand on the shoulder of Helena, just to steady him and make sure he'll obviously...
00:47:49
Speaker
be prepared in case he gets a little bit too erratic on the horse. Of course, the staff is going to be out and there's going to be fire bolts flinging from this thing left, right and center, just any creature that he can see. Okay, lovely, lovely. Almost like a horse with the exhaust of the horse is just fire bolts. Yeah, does it get a speed boost by doing this? Yes, absolutely, you do. No, you set the horse on fire. If the DM will permit, yeah, you have roast horse now, if I didn't.
00:48:13
Speaker
Now, as this image of I see a steely-eyed Robin out front, just staring down the shard of a tower in front of you as it gets closer and closer, taller and taller, cast down in the middle between the two, kind of looking between Folly and Helena and also Robin in front, looking at the undead, checking the forces of the obsidianity to get closer and closer.
00:48:32
Speaker
Helena, and fully behind, Helena gripping onto the reins of a deal, I fully firing off fire bolts left, right, and center to hold back the blight. As they get closer and closer, 10, 15 feet away from you, as you break your horses into a gallop, and they start making their way towards the tower. And that image, just the camera pans there, and you kind of rush off towards the tower, the undead, agh, kind of following before, with such power and such speed.
00:48:55
Speaker
That's where we're going to end this week's episode of The Fellowship. Oh my god! Oh my god! A wall of fire when he hits the door. A wall of fire just to stop coming to us. Hang on, you overestimate how many spell slots I have left. I assume you've got a million. At least one million. Okay. Well, there you go. I can't believe Danny left. I can't believe it's casualty. Chewie!
00:49:22
Speaker
I completely blacked out throughout all of what you guys were doing. I could tell. Well... I was out. You were lost in your own thing. I have no idea what had happened. Something... And I had to just put it from my mind. Robin doesn't know that Claude Stish died. No, I can't. I have no idea. We can't even see them. They are outside. We've just ended the episode. Hey, Danny. You okay? Yeah. Let's do it. Let's do it.
00:49:46
Speaker
That is it. That's it. I don't know what else to do. Total party thrills. Yeah. We're joining us on this episode. We love you. It's twice now that Trago's gone into a battle. Cheers.
00:50:03
Speaker
Fuck. We've broken here right now. Yeah, like throughout the entirety of that second act there, listeners, I was... I cannot tell you what the other half of the group were doing despite being here in the same room and their voices, you know, being loud and proud. I was lost in a sea of despair, I guess. Wow. So yeah, please come back because it's fun to be here, isn't it? Come back next week and listen to us.
00:50:32
Speaker
die horribly i don't know what to do normally i try and end it on a high you need to segue so what did you guys do is it something funny we've still got it was a chance to save the blight okay okay okay there we go save the blight we've still got a chance to save the world against the blight all right there's my segue so we've still got that to tune in to find out if we can still save the blight and end the blight that's why it could happen either way
00:50:59
Speaker
That's the way it's going. Please, please tune in next week. I mean, come on, you will do. Let's be honest. You need to know where this shit goes. I need to know where this shit goes. So if you wanted to find out more, I guess, there's a Twitter page, a combined one, which is at Photoshop table. Then if you want to go one step further and follow us individually, you can do so.
