Halloween-themed Introduction

00:00:00
Speaker
It's close to midnight, the shadows creeping towards you from the dark. You close your eyes, you ignore the doctor who played your rhythm. You close your eyes, and suddenly you release Halloween. It's Halloween, happy, happy Halloween, from the fellowship of the tabletop.

Meet the Characters and Dungeon Master

00:01:02
Speaker
Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are a live play 5e podcast set in the magical homebrew world of Aerith in the Kingdom of Shadowmend. My name is Darren, I am the Dungeon Master and I'm going to run D&D for you this evening. With me tonight I have a host of wonderful players including playing the Dragonborn Paladin
00:01:31
Speaker
Drago, Ian. This is Halloween. This is Halloween. We have, playing the not a barbarian, but probably a barbarian human edic, Mike
00:01:46
Speaker
Apparently, if you say Darren Page three times in front of the mirror in the bathroom, he turns around and fucks up the intro. Thanks, Mike. We see playing the Gnome Ranger swarm keeper, Miki Callum. Hey, who turned out the lights? Thanks, Callum. You're welcome. I'll do it. We have playing the Tabaxi Bardlock Carl, our resident Wilbot one-shot extraordinaire, Will.
00:02:16
Speaker
Ooh, spooky! And playing the human ranger hunter, McKeever, we have our regular rules consultant, Will. Count the shadows, for God's sake. Remember, if you want to live, count the shadows.

Recap: Vault Adventure and Time Trap

00:02:33
Speaker
Okay, last week on the Fellowship of the Tabletop, our hero in Drago, and I'm not yet hero in the rest of the party, found themselves in the vault of the Bank of Jahira. They were able to, upon convincing what looked like a half-orc fellow teleporter, convince this person to open up a
00:02:54
Speaker
spell called Arcanic Gateway, or Arcane Gateway rather, that allowed them into the vault of Jaehera. After doing a bit of investigation work they found what they perceived to be and what they assumed to be the tome that Drezlin was after. Alongside this while this was happening they also managed to fill their boots with all of the treasure and jewels and wonders that they could find.
00:03:18
Speaker
Drago had a conversation with the now half-elf girl who was transformed into a half-elf girl whilst casting the spell Arcane Gate. It turned out this was the droid that he'd been looking for. This was Robin's sister, Rem.
00:03:36
Speaker
They didn't have long to process this information. For returning out of the vault, they discovered why the city of Fatherkeep is a judge to be trapped in time itself. Upon stepping out into the street, they saw turning left a wall of shadow that appeared to be creeping ever closer. They turned right and saw a wall of shadows that appeared to be creeping closer. And as we ended the episode, the face seemed to emerge through the shadow and start to move towards our party.
00:04:06
Speaker
And as such, can I ask everyone to roll initiative? Oh, donkey. I have a question as well once we're into this. Doesn't seem to be sending my initiative rolls, never mind. No, it's not sending mine either. Oh no, I've got yours. Oh, I've not got yours. Maybe there's a bit of a delay.
00:04:37
Speaker
I know he's trying to send it to the turn tracker fair enough. OK, can I get a 20 plus from anyone? Yes, that's Carl G Day supernatural 20 for a 24. OK, thank you, Edic. An unnatural 2018 plus two. OK, thank you. 15 to 20. Yay. What did you get, Miki? 17.
00:05:07
Speaker
10 to 15. 11. Our 8-old mum goes last. 11 from who? From McBenna. McBenna, thank you. Andrago, what did you get? 9.
00:05:21
Speaker
Okay, right. Top of the round, Karl, what you see as you emerge into the street behind McBenna is that these wall of shadows are now blocking the for a fair, blocking further away from a direction you've not traveled yet, and importantly, blocking the way from whence you came. You've just noticed that this shadowed figure has just emerged from one of the walls of the shadow to the right. It is completely vacant, but it does appear to be making this horrible kind of,
00:05:53
Speaker
noise which is audible to you from about 30 feet away. What do you want to do? Carl will just say what in the ever-living fuck and he's going to raise his lantern up high and you'll see it ignite as upon saying the word fuck he's going to shoot out an eldritch blast directly at this thing. Roll to hit. Oh dear. 14? 14 hits.
00:06:23
Speaker
Amazing. In which case it will take eight points of force damage and two points of cold damage, if it can. You turn and see the shadow and the

Shadow Combat and Protection Ritual

00:06:35
Speaker
Eldritch Blast shrieks into it. It seems to unleash a kind of ungodly shriek, which I'm not even going to attempt when you strike into this creature. The cold seems to almost illuminate this creature where it strikes it right in the middle of the chest before dissipating.
00:06:53
Speaker
It's still upright and it's still moving towards you. It's going to use its turn
00:07:00
Speaker
to take the dash action to get within range of you, Karl. What you see is this unheavenly approach of the shadow, which appears to just move. There are no eye expressions. It just is literally a moving shadow. It doesn't seem to attack you, but the stench of it, it smells of rotten decay. It's now stood directly in front of you.
00:07:26
Speaker
Those of you who have a passive perception above 10 realise that you're now hearing two from the other side. So the one from the right, which has just landed in front of Karl, there are now 40 feet away to the other side, two more of these creatures that have just emerged through the wall on the other side.
00:07:44
Speaker
Edic, unless it's something that you need explaining, I'm going to wait for your hand until it is your turn, if that's okay. It is just something for explaining, sorry. Did you say above 10 or 10 and above for the passive perception? If you have a passive perception of 10 or above, you're now aware that, I mean, these creatures are making quite horrific noise. You'd have to literally be focused on the one to the right to not hear the fact that there is now stuff coming from the left as well. Okay, thank you.
00:08:12
Speaker
And oddly enough, that is the end of the Shadow's turn. The two that were spawned had to use their turn to do that, which means it now brings us to your turn, Edik.
00:08:23
Speaker
I'm just going to pile on to the one that's by Karl. I presume that it's come up to us. I always saw myself actually next to Karl when we were leaving, second to last out, and I believe Karl was the last when we came out of the vault. Yeah, obviously, I'm not going to... That's fine. You can get to this thing easy enough. Like this thing is sort of dashed over and he's all up in Karl's face and just the great axe comes down, just instants going for him. Roll to hit.
00:08:57
Speaker
25. You'd be surprised to know that that hits. Yes, roll damage please. Rolling damage. If you're a barbarian, if you haven't raged yet.
00:09:10
Speaker
Because otherwise you can add your strength bonus to your damage if you need to rage, just as a playing note there from Will to Mike. Thank you. I was going to ask about raging. I thought it was a bonus action that I did at the end. No, no, you do the bonus action first. Then I will... My friend, if you need to talk about raging, I'm your man. No, just... Okay, so this thing... This thing has come up to Karl in his face, like, really quick, like, there. And it's not so much of a rage.
00:09:36
Speaker
But it's more that edX sees this and his rage seems more like an absolute freak out so it ends the rage and just great taxes in. Yeah you've you've hit we know with that roll you can roll your damage please. So that will be i roll the seven plus two strength damage i believe from the rage so that will be.
00:09:59
Speaker
Yep, as you bring the axe down, the shadow just dissipates and just seems to disappear back into the air. There are now just the two behind you that have just emerged through the wall on the other side, that, edit, you have drawn first blood and got the first kill of the evening.
00:10:16
Speaker
um i said to the right the wall of shadows is still there there are no no shadows like gone yes i think they've just did they've just literally turned to dust seven points of damage well this one's already been damaged don't forget kyle damaged this one uh i guess then
00:10:34
Speaker
I can move as well, so I'm going to charge it. I'm going to charge one of the others. Okay, I'll say it took five feet for you to get to Eddock, so you've got, I presume, 25 feet of movement left. And how far away are these ones? They are 50 feet, so you'll get halfway. So he's just going, with the axe, just go for them, but it won't get all the way there.
00:10:55
Speaker
Yep, okay, so what the rest of you see, have not been able to react yet, is you see this creature arrived next to Khan and all of a sudden, Erik just reacts first, Han Solo shoots first and just brings the axe down and all of a sudden has, just seems to turn and start running towards the two that are the other side. So about turns and starts sprinting in the other direction. I like to think that because my intelligence is so low, he's not actually scared of this.
00:11:21
Speaker
He cannot comprehend what these are, they're just enemy. He's got predatory, he's just like, nope, must kill. Instant rage, charge at the thing. Miki, it is your turn. Is there any of the shadow creatures towards the door?
00:11:43
Speaker
You glance behind and you can't see anything yet. You do notice that the shadows in the room are still in closing, however. I kind of want to run towards the door. I'm trying to leave the bank still. So I'm going to start heading that way, but I'm still going to turn around after using my movement. And I'm going to take a shot with my hand crossbow as well.
00:12:09
Speaker
What are you shooting at? Literally, I'm shooting at the darkness. If the shadow creatures with faces and whatnot, I'm aiming in their general direction. So you're not aiming at one of the shadows that have emerged? You're just aiming at the general darkness? Well, yeah. I'm going to aim at the general darkness. I'm panicking right now. I am freaked out. Okay, nice. Roll the hit. Fine. 11.
00:12:37
Speaker
OK, I mean, it's a pretty big target. It's engulfing the thoroughfare. What you do is you shoot and the arrow just disappears into the darkness. You have no idea what has happened or what that arrow has done, but that's effectively what happens when you shoot an arrow at the darkness. It did kill Justin Hawkins, though, leading out of the darkness, unfortunately, in the parallel. He was just on stage, high pitched, and then out of nowhere, just in the opposite.
00:13:02
Speaker
Touching you, I'll fuck across the board. It disappears into the wall of darkness to the left. Misses both the shadows and just disappears straight into the wall of darkness. That's your action, unless you've got any bonus actions, Miki, you're done. I do, but I'm not using them.
00:13:24
Speaker
Okay, great, thank you. Ren is just going to stand next to you, Drago, and what she's going to do is she's going to bring her hands to her chest and the jewels are going to glow and then all of a sudden you will see two more versions of Ren appear next to her as she casts mirror image. Yeah, I know, it's kind of freaky. I can get us out of here, but I'm going to need your help. I'm going to need you to protect me.
00:13:49
Speaker
And what happens is the three wrens make their way into the middle of the street, directly outside the door. And she's just going to stand there with the three of them and she's going to look back at you and say, keep them away from me. And that is the end of her turn. We come to McBenna, it's your turn.
00:14:14
Speaker
So, setting the scene for me, Darren. Obviously, we're outside the front of the bank. We had one shadow in front of us that's dead. We've got a wall of shadow to our left coming down the roadway. The way we're doing it. And then a one from the right. And there are shadow creatures that have emerged from that right-hand side as well. One's emerged from that side and has made it to Karl. The two the other side are now coming towards... Is that on our left? Yes. Thank you.
00:14:39
Speaker
sorry I was just trying to get myself orientated and then ahead of us is that deeper into the city or is that sort of the way ahead of you are a row of buildings one of which is where the piano fell from um it's a thoroughfare so in front of you is literally a row of buildings you can go left down the street or right down the street so we're back into the bank we're boxed in you're pretty much boxed in yes okay and did I hear what the
00:15:05
Speaker
what Ren had said to Drago. You wouldn't have heard the first bit when she landed in the street and just turned to you all and said, keep them away from me, I can get us out of here. You heard that. Cool, okay. So McBenna will look around, see that he's got, there's no options to run away.
00:15:26
Speaker
So McBenna will move. Are the steps raised up above the street? Yes. So going back into the bank, you're in an elevated position by about four or five steps. Ren's currently in the street, as is Karl, as is Eddic. Miki is at the top of the steps, as is Drago. I'm going to probably stay at the top of the steps because I don't want to go back into the bank because the shadows are coming in from there.
00:15:49
Speaker
and I'm going to notch a silvered arrow to my bow. The two creatures that emerge from the wall on our left, are they within five feet of each other? They are... I'll tell you what, I hadn't decided, so I roll a d4 on a... Odds they are and an evens they're not. It's a one, so they are. They are, excellent. I'm going to shoot them, I'm going to use Horde Breaker as well. Okay.
00:16:16
Speaker
So I get to make another attack with the same weapon against the second one. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Love a ranger. Yeah. Lovely. So I will make a shooting attack into one on the sort of the left hand of the pair first, just so you've got your records. Roll to hit, please. Ah, it's a 10. Flies over the shoulder and misses, unfortunately. Excellent. I will then use my free action to make a shot against the second one.
00:16:44
Speaker
Yeah, just to check, because I'm sure you know this is a real consultant, do you have to hit to get the extra attack? No, it just says on each of your turns when you make a weapon attack, you can make another attack against the same different target. Fair enough, away you go. Don't have to hit. That's a bit better, 17. Yes, that hits. And that will take, lovely, 12 points of magical piercing damage.
00:17:11
Speaker
Yes, as the arrow absolutely carrains into this creature, just beneath the clavicle, you slam the arrow into this creature. It did not seem to enjoy that. Similar to the one that Karl hit, it gave out a kind of, it gives that a winter screech of pain. Is that the end of your turn? Yes, that would be the end of my game. Okay, Drago, it's over to you.
00:17:38
Speaker
Okay, Drago, after hearing Ren say, protect me, I can get this out of here, and then watching her presumably cast a spell that split her into three versions of herself. Drago's going to stand next to the spell cast Ren and ready his great axe. Feels weird to say that. And
00:18:05
Speaker
He's just going to stand in front of Ren wherever the enemies are. So if that's in front of her face, he stood at guard in front of her. If he's at her back, he stood at guard at her back. So wherever the enemies are positioned. It's two.
00:18:21
Speaker
It's to her left at the minute, so you're on her left hand side. Drago will just cover her left basically and great axis in front of him. Already in action for any of them motherfuckers that come near him. Okay great thank you so you're holding an attack. Holding an attack for any any shadowy spoofs.
00:18:42
Speaker
Okay, great. Thank you. Top of the round. We're back to you, Karl. You glance over your shoulder. Ren is now stood in the centre of the street. Drago is the other side of there. You're to her right. There are no shadows currently coming towards you, but you are aware that there are two coming from the other direction. What do you want to do? I'm going to turn back to Mickey.
00:19:03
Speaker
kind of just run up to his shoulder and say, we need to get that tome out of here now. Uh, don't know what the accent happened there, but never mind. Uh, and I'm going to try and sneakily grab it from him. So basically go up and hold him on the shoulder with one hand. So we need to get the tome out of here now. Uh, and with the other hand, see if I can get it into the, I'm assuming he has a pack. Um, I am so going to shoot you.
00:19:34
Speaker
Um, right. Come on, Papa needs a brand new pair of shorts. Thank you 23. I'll have a counter roll of perception, please. Callum. Christ almighty.
00:19:56
Speaker
Karl, as the nimble hand just seemed to completely bamboozle this gnome, and yes, you now have the tone.
00:20:07
Speaker
Cool. He's going to, as he does that, just tap him on the shoulder, turn back and select this new tome into the folds of his coat and latch it up and turn back and run towards the mage and Drago. OK.

Karl's Betrayal and Battle with Banshee

00:20:23
Speaker
Miki, because he beat you on the roll, you're not aware that that's happened. Just so you're aware.
00:20:28
Speaker
Just as a question, obviously probably not in combat, but when we are out of combat, would I sense that the energy that the tome was given off has shifted?
00:20:38
Speaker
No. Why don't I say we'll find out when we get there? Is probably the answer to that. Do I feel like I made her pregnant? Everyone was drawn to the tome when we were looking for it. It seemed to have a natural instinct. I'm going to stay.
00:21:02
Speaker
I'm going to say the adrenaline of the fact that you were cornered by two walls of shadows that appear to be spitting out a fear or undead darkness are somewhat blocking your ability to sense what's happening with that tone right now. That's the way I see it, okay? It is the shadow's turn.
00:21:18
Speaker
those of you who are still paying your attention right which i don't think is any of you what you notice is that one more shadow emerges through the wall and you can now will audibly hear that on the left the two that are approaching the one that's yet to be hit makes its way to the nearest person which is going to be you edic the other one is going to take the dash action and go past edic
00:21:41
Speaker
towards at McBenna who has damaged it. I'm going to take Eddic's reaction first because the one that's been hit is going to run directly past you and provoke an attack of opportunity. Okay and is that just an attack? If you wish to use your reaction to make an attack against the one that's run past you can do. There's no downside to me doing that. So yes it's going to run past me and he's like oh no you don't and goes with the axe.
00:22:11
Speaker
to maybe 15. That hits, they're all damaged. Sorry, I'm gonna suck you up.
00:22:25
Speaker
plus 2 for the ray. Do I get the rage bonus here? Yes, you'll still get it. 10 damage. Okay, it's dead. Another one, as edit goes on a killing rampage, just turns to dust as it seems to focus its attention on the banner who's just shot it. You are able to just swing and decapitate it. You are, however, blindsided by the one in front of you, which rolls a 19 to hit. I'm a class of 16, so that's...
00:22:52
Speaker
Okay, it is going to be halved because you are raging. You take 2d6 plus 2, you take 9 points of bludgeoning damage as this armpit. Is that pretty halved? Oh no, it hasn't been halved. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. You're welcome. You take, it's rounded down, isn't it?
00:23:12
Speaker
You take four points of magical bludgeoning damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage damage
00:23:29
Speaker
Yep, you're fine. Thank you. Okay, that is the end of the shadows turn. No, it's not. The one on the right is going to use the dash action and is heading towards Ren. It's about 10 feet away from her. You can audibly hear it. Everyone else is around there, including you, Draghi. But it is dashing towards the first person that it's seen, which is Ren.
00:23:52
Speaker
Okay, that is the end of the shadows turn edic. It's now to you. It's your actual turn So he's taken the damage. Let's just say like he's turned Thrown in the axe on the other one Decapitated and taking a blow to the back for the other one has just from the other one to you. Yeah
00:24:08
Speaker
It's almost like the shadow passes through you and that's what does the damage even though it's bludgeoning damage. It feels like you've been hit by impact but you actually haven't felt the impact you've just felt the shadow pass through you but as it's done that it seems to have almost like bruised you and given you bludgeoning damage. So as the shadow has passed through me and done the damage because I've made the kill and I imagine that he's come in from behind and gone through
00:24:36
Speaker
the axe just continues the movement round which is one it just goes i declare it as a frenzied attack which doesn't do anything yet i believe it's subsequently that that happens so yeah so he's he's in a frenzy now
00:24:49
Speaker
You have to, you have to say you're going to enter frenzy. This is an attack. Yep. That's your bonus action. Yep. So friends entering friends is your bonus action. You can now make your attack as your action. Yeah. Okay. But I don't get the bonus frenzy attack until next turn, I believe. So next turn. Yeah. So he's in a frenzy. It's come around and he's just going to do normal attack onto the target right in front of me. Go for it. Amazing.
00:25:19
Speaker
hits roll damage 16 16 points of damage yes 14 so it's roll did you roll the 12 on the great axe it's no it's a 1d12 which I wrote plus 4 plus the rage that again yeah you're
00:25:42
Speaker
Okay, you kill this thing in one go. The sheer anger at this thing hitting you just means that your axe just comes round and literally straight down the top of the head, going down where the nose would be. You just go straight down this thing until axe hits nothing but floor. You feel it reverberate off the floor and this shadow just dissipates as your axe goes through it. Nicely done. And where was Ren in the original group?
00:26:12
Speaker
before I ran 25 feet to these two. She was still at the top of the steps. You're probably not privy to what Ren has said yet. No, I don't know what she said. I'm just honing in on the new skeleton. The only one that's now present. Yeah, literally. I don't care what Ren said. I don't care what anyone else is doing. I've killed that one. I've killed these two. And he's just turned and looked at the fourth one.
00:26:39
Speaker
if she was in the same place and i did 25 to get here and i've got 30 i'm just going for it and i'm just going to be fucking on in for the next round five feet away from it you'll be five feet away from it okay anyone else looking directly at this thing we'll just see coming up behind just edicts just running
00:27:01
Speaker
Do you remember those episodes in the original campaign where Drago just had killing sprees because he was a barbarian? That's currently what we're seeing from Eddic. Have you considered doing reckless attack yet? No. Maybe he will next turn. Anyway, for now... I don't have any notes on that. We'll talk you through it next turn. But for now, it is Miki's turn.
00:27:30
Speaker
Yeah, me get a little bit more kind of now, some of these shadowy creatures have been slain by Eddic, it's been a little bit more composed. His bugs are talking to him like, yeah, fine, fine. Well, come on, then get on, get on. And there's going to be a scorpion that's kind of crawls over him, goes onto his hand crossbow, goes on top of an arrow that's loaded, and I'm firing it at the creature that Eddic is currently sprinting towards.
00:28:01
Speaker
Yeah, roll the hit. Come on, something good. Oh, you son of a bitch. 13 to hit with the crossbow or hand crossbow. Hits. Yay!
00:28:15
Speaker
So I do eight points of damage with my hand crossbow. I'm also going to use my gathered swarm capability. So the scorpion that's landed on the arrow is also going to fling itself forward as it hits the target and it's stinging. It's going to go straight into it as well for an additional 1d6 piercing damage. Legend go nuts. I love that.
00:28:38
Speaker
It's only a natural one for the 1d6 piercing damage. Thank you. Yeah, this bolt hits and the bugs explode into it. They go into the shadow and just disappear, unfortunately, these bugs as they are engulfed in the shadow. No, Clarisse! You have done quite a bit of damage to this creature, but it is still upright. Do you have anything else, Miki?
00:29:03
Speaker
I mean, it's Callum. Of course he does. This is whoever he chooses to use. There's always something. No, I won't. Okay, thank you. It's Ren's turn. Ren is going to look at this. She's going to look back at Drago and look around at you all and say,
00:29:19
Speaker
I'm going to get us out of here. And the glyphs on the back of her emeralds and her arms start to glow and she starts again drawing these circles, but they seem to now settle around the floor. She has started to cast teleportation circle. It's going to take a minute to cast. Damn teleport again. That is the end of Ren's turn. It is McBenna, your turn.
00:29:47
Speaker
Lovely, so there's only one creature still standing, isn't there? There is, it's just been shot by a crossbow bolt. OK, so I am going to use my bonus action to cast Hunter's Mark on it.
00:30:00
Speaker
So that's that, Cass. It's got a duration of an hour. Yes, Hunter's Mark is a lovely spell. Yep. And if it dies, it can bounce from another thing. That's fine. For the perks of our listeners, why don't you talk us through what Hunter's Spell is and does. So Hunter's Mark, you choose a creature you can see within range and mystically mark it as your quarry until the spell ends. You deal an extra 1d6 of damage to the target whenever you hit it with a weapon attack.
00:30:22
Speaker
And you have advantage on any wisdom, perception, or wisdom survival checks you make to find it. If the target drops to zero hit points before this spell ends, you can use a bonus action on a subsequent turn of yours to mark a new creature. So this spell currently has a duration of an hour. So even if half an hour was to pass and another enemy creature comes along, I could use a bonus action to move my Hunter's Mark to it. So, yeah. Great. Okay. Roll the hit. That's a 22 to hit. That hits are all damage.
00:30:51
Speaker
lovely so let's do the longbow that's 10 points of damage do you want me to roll the hunter's mark it's dead it's dead the arrow crashes into it and the kill has been given to someone other than eddic as this shadow dissipates as the arrow smashes into it
00:31:11
Speaker
And then as I've done that, so McBenna slowly just taking a couple of steps down the steps just to be a little bit closer to the teleportation circle when it goes off, obviously knows he might need to be within whatever she's creating. Interestingly, using my character's experience, are these creatures monstrosities of any kind? That's a good question. Let me consult the monster manual. Thanks.
00:31:39
Speaker
Sorry, that was me. Monstrosity, you ask, yes? Yes. I have favoured enemy monstrosities. No, they're technically undead. Cool, that's fine. I thought I'd check. That is good for me, though. It was a graveyard smash. Yeah. Cool, in that case, that is the end of my go.
00:32:00
Speaker
Okay, great. Thank you. Drago, it is your turn. It's also worth noting, McBenna, having had to get out of the gorgeous sortmare quickly, you would be aware of what Ren is casting. You don't know this spell yourself, but you know others who have a role in the range of the Rainier for casting this spell to get you out of the gorge quickly. Lovely. In that case, McBenna will say, we'll say, really then everyone, make sure you're in the circle when she casts this. We've not got long. Thank you.
00:32:31
Speaker
Drago, it's your turn. They're all dead, right? They're all dead at the minute, an eerie standoff. As the shadows, though, the walls are still inching by inches towards you.
00:32:47
Speaker
Okay, so Drago is still in a state of a stance of protection over Ren. He's casting a quick eye on what she's doing, and then he's going to use his previous experience and cast his eyes around the room to see if there's any other
00:33:05
Speaker
dangers that he should be aware of. In fact, when his eyes quickly cast along the room, he quickly remembers what he can do, shakes his head and just goes, oh, stupid, grabs his amulet and casts divine sense.
00:33:21
Speaker
Yes, okay, to the left, to the right. Massive pings for undead, though something hits you towards the end of the spell as a massive ping comes from the right-hand side and the amulet of Akiva starts to glow. What you will hear is the sound of this horrific whale.
00:33:45
Speaker
as in like a piercing, screeching cry of agony and pain. I need everyone to make a constitution saving throw. It's a banshee. Yes. Oh, thank God for that. Yeah, thank God.
00:34:15
Speaker
Okay. Jago, what did you roll? 22. Thank you. Mick Benner, what did you roll? I rolled a 17, but I have a minus one to my constitutions. That's 16 in total. Thank you. Edic, what did you roll? 18. Thank you. Karl, what did you roll? 15 from Karl. Miki, what did you roll? 19 total. Remworld for 22. This...
00:34:45
Speaker
screech passes through you all. It is horrific, it is horrifying. You all take 10 points of psychic damage. Motherfucker! What?! Had you have failed, for those of you who know what banshees can do, you would have dropped to zero hit points. Yeah, banshees are bad.
00:35:13
Speaker
Nobody failed, so everyone is still upright. Don't look for that. But you do see this horrifying female spectra looking like it's in morning gear with a hood descend through and these piercing eyes glancing at you all as it continues to sob and sob as it makes its way towards you. Top of the round, Karl, what do you want to do?
00:35:42
Speaker
Okay, so Karl's kind of getting up close to the circle. Probably not too sure what's going on, but knows that this person has got good magic for them. So he'll just kind of turn upon hearing that and obviously taking the damage. He's going to raise his lantern and once more send out that Eldritch Blashed. Roll to hit. So this is directed at the Banshee just for reference and it's a natty one.
00:36:08
Speaker
Now the horrifying visage of this Banshee just completely puts you off and the Eldritch Blast is shoots off to the right and completely misses. As that happens from the left hand side, two more shadows emerge. And that is the end of the shadows turn.
00:36:33
Speaker
Edic, it's your turn. There is a banshee directly in front of you. You can hear the murmurs of two shadows coming from the other side. What distance have I got if I'm back at basically at my original starting place, which is with the group? So the banshee is, and this is going to sound like I'm being a dick, but it's the actual, it's about 40 feet away at the minute.
00:36:54
Speaker
And the two shadows, they're about 50. They come in at 50 usually. Yeah. Well, with the 10 feet back the other way, yeah, they're about 50 feet away. OK. In that case, in that case. Do you have throwing axes? It tends to be a bit of starting equipment that you also have a couple of throwing axes. I do. I also have javelins. OK, you use javelin. I'm thinking that he's just going to lob a javelin at the banshee, I think, is what I'm going to go with. OK, yeah, roll to hit.
00:37:23
Speaker
hang on, I just need the distance first. So I've got 30 over 120. So is that going to be disadvantage? Yeah. So roll to hit. Hold on, you have movement to get a bit closer, should you wish, which can reduce that gap to under 30. Okay, so he's getting, I'll take the 10 to put me into the 30 range onto them. So as if it's more like athletic, he's going forward and he throws 21.
00:37:53
Speaker
Hits. And then does... I don't get rage on this, do I? Because it's melee attacks for rage. Correct. So seven, seven distance. Seven, seven damage. However, you have taken damage so the rage is still upright. You either have to deal damage or a melee attack, I think, or take damage to keep the rage alive. Because you've taken damage, the rage is still alive. Okay. So how much damage did you say you do? Seven with the javelin. Thank you. Thank you.
00:38:25
Speaker
at the end of your term? You're frenzying, so you can lob another jab then if you've got another one. Is it not just melee attacks, frenzied attack? Hang on. No, frenzied attack. You can make a single melee attack as a bonus action at the end of your term. Sorry. That is being stupid at range.

Teleportation and Loss

00:38:49
Speaker
so he's done the throw and then he's just going to continue on at the banjo, closing that gap for the next turn. Terrific, yeah you're about 10 feet away. So I'm 10 feet away. Okay and your turn, Miki over to you.
00:39:06
Speaker
Oh, it's time to go big or go home. Um, the banshee that is just kind of in and freaked us all the fuck out. Um, I'm going to take a shot at it with my crossbow. I'm going to be speaking to my books again. Um, and I think I will go for Holly this time. Just climbing up onto my, what was that? Holly.
00:39:29
Speaker
OK, just checking. Yeah, I'm just going to get Holly calling up onto my crossbow and I'm going to fire an arrow as well. I'm also going to take the sharpshooter chance on this one as well. OK, so the sharpshooter chance, which I never really used as Robin, is effectively you take a minus five to accuracy to potentially do a plus ten to damage, right? Yeah, I should know it because I had had Robin for long enough.
00:39:58
Speaker
But let's see how this works out. Plus for our listeners who are listening, it also means Calamity has to ignore the 30 feet range on his hand crossbow. I rolled a 26 to hit. With the minus five. With the minus five it's 21. Yeah well that still hits so you get to add your bonus damage as well. So I will do this first.
00:40:23
Speaker
Okay, so nine points of damage with my hand crossbow, which is max, plus 10 from the sharpshooter. So that's 19. And then my extra little scorpion that I've put on there for an extra six does another two points of damage. I need a total which will be 21 points of piercing damage. It's pretty obvious that that should do more damage than it does. No, it's got resistance.
00:40:49
Speaker
unless you. Right. Yeah. Okay. Silver weapons were there for you all and I've got them as well. It's fine. Okay. Right. So damage total was 21 points of piercing damage. Okay. Yep. So half that and it's, it's, it's down to 10, isn't it? It goes in favor of the
00:41:12
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, it would do. Okay, great. Thank you. You notice from that shot that it goes right through the jugular and it just seems unperturbed by that, which is probably quite unnerving. Ren's turn. Ren is going to turn to you all and say, I'm about halfway there. If you've been keeping track, there have officially been enough turns for her to be halfway through casting this spell. How long's the casting time? One minute.
00:41:40
Speaker
Yeah, but it's, no, no, it's, it's not players turns, it's rounds. Oh shit, then no, that hasn't been. It's 10, it's each round is six seconds. Each player's turn takes place within that six seconds. So it's 10 rounds to cast. So each of us has 10 goes before we get to the minute. Fuck. Okay. It's just got a hell of a lot harder.
00:42:09
Speaker
Does she have Quicken spell? She does, she's a sorcerer. I don't think that would help, but... What does Quicken spell do to it? That wouldn't help, that would just make something out of bonus action. Yeah, it makes you do a spell as a bonus action, you've still got the... You can say editor's note, it's my power. Everyone's hearing this. Sorry, Darrin, I didn't realise you were about to TPK it. Mate, you're the DO. You choose how long this spell takes.
00:42:38
Speaker
Well, Ren does have something which she's had ever since I first discussed her through with Mark, so that may need to come into play in the way that I didn't think it would. But for now, all you need to know is she's continuing to cast the spell. McBenna, it's your turn. Thank you. So McBenna will have continued walking down the steps. He'll now get to within the circle. I'm going to use my bonus action to shift my Hunter's Mark to the Banshee.
00:43:05
Speaker
and I will then shoot the Banshee with my silver arrows. Go for it. Ah, that's only a 12. Meets and beats. Lovely. So that will do seven points of piercing damage from the silver arrows. Yep. Followed by a
00:43:37
Speaker
five points of damage from hunters mark which i'm unsure about but magical damage right which means well it's it's it says it's it's whatever the weapon damage type is so i would assume it counts as magical piercing because it's coming from a magical source because it says it's whatever the weapon type is that's damaging the creature itself okay great thank you
00:44:08
Speaker
Drago, your turn. There are two shadows in front of you, you're also aware of this Banshee. The shadows aren't near you yet, they're 50 feet away. If you're keeping track, you also have a spear, so you have a projectile as well. Because Miki gave you a spear. Bollocks, how far is Eddic from me? Eddic is now... How far away are you from your original starting point?
00:44:36
Speaker
Because Darren knows the theatre the most. Yes, I've got that. So Drago from the top of the steps is 10 feet, but it's 10 feet down. So his distance to you isn't altered. It is still up to the right, 30 feet to you, because the Banshee's 40 feet away. He's 30 feet away from me. And how far are the shadows to rain? 50 feet, 50 feet. And I've seen them move.
00:44:59
Speaker
in the previous round yeah you know we know they're gonna move they can move they well you've only seen one get to eddick and one try to sprint by you've seen one dash which brought it up to carl really quickly in my mind in terms of feet 60 feet a normal dash oh god if it chooses to dash this is such a calum move you've had loads of turns to decide what you're gonna do i know uh who's closest to me
00:45:27
Speaker
Apart from Ren. Carl is still nearby. It's probably Carl. I'll be on your shoulder, yeah. Miki isn't far either. Miki, Miki, Miki, Miki. No, it has to be Eddic. I'm in the circle with Ren. Oops, I'm at Benner. Pretty much all three are within proximity. The only one who's not is Eddic. Hello, I ran away.
00:45:46
Speaker
Because I'm mad. OK, for now, because you're too far away from me to give you this nice little sexy thing, I'm going to keep my eyes on whoever is nearest to Ren. Axe is held in defensive stance, but one hand does come off the bottom hill of the axe and just reaches around, woof, to touch Ren, woof, at the back of me, and I'm going to heal at 10 points.
00:46:16
Speaker
with laying hands. Nice. Yeah. That's the end of my go, I think. Wait. I heard you asked for consent. I touched it in an appropriate place. Can I just say that right now? I know. This is a safeguarding issue. Yeah. How far is the banshee?
00:46:46
Speaker
from you. 40. You said 40 feet from us, didn't you? Yes, but Drago's the other side. Drago's another five feet on that, so 45, 50 feet. We'll say 50 feet. Okay, cool. That's the end of my go. Thank you. Cool. Carl, top of the round, your turn.
00:47:06
Speaker
Okay, turning over and looking at Ren quickly, I'll just say, you best hurry this up, it's not looking good. And I'll turn back to probably one of the shadows after completely fucking it up on the bank sheet. And I'll bean off another Eldritch Blayashed. Okay, go for it. Okey dokey. Hopefully this one will actually land. Ooh dear, maybe 14 to hit. Yes, hit. Excellent. It's eight points of force, two points of cold. Okay, nice.
00:47:38
Speaker
Crashes into the Banshee. It continues to wail. I actually missed the Banshee's turn. It's not the Banshee that will... I don't think Karl was attacking the Banshee, were you? He was attacking one of the shadows. Oh, shall they? All right, yeah, yeah. Well, that hits. How much points of damage was it, sorry? Eight force, two cold.
00:47:54
Speaker
Yeah, it's still upright, but you do manage to hit one of the shadows. Retconning, it's the Banshee's turn. That should have been before Karl. Apologies. The Banshee is going to move towards you, edit, and is going to try and take a corrupting touch in your direction. Doesn't it hit? Got a cream for that somewhere. It rolls, it rolls 10 to hit. Okay, so 16 armor class in there.
00:48:24
Speaker
to miss is it comes towards you and you're just able to back out of this material like flaw. Yeah, he's going to take a step backwards and go thinking that that's how you do it because he's heard others. He's just got no concept of he just knows it. So he's just gone back and said it and thinks that it works.
00:48:43
Speaker
It's the shadows turn after that lovely image and that one of which is going to sprint towards Karl and take the dash action and then level with Karl. The other one is going to take the dash action and then level with Drago who stands between it and Ren.
00:49:02
Speaker
That is the end of their turn. Edic, your turn. Bunchy is now engaged with you. It's moved forward and is now five feet from you. It's engaged. So I am, because I've read the rule in my time, I'm going to recklessly attack it, which gives me advantage on any strength rolls. I believe to hit. Until your next turn, any creature that tries to hit you will also have advantage. Also have advantage. I'm willing to take that. So going in with a great axe, because that's what's done.
00:49:32
Speaker
So I rolled twice, and I choose the bigger one. Yes, that's the advantage. Always choose the bigger one. Always choose the bigger one. He hits with a 19. He certainly does. I just assumed. Sorry. No, he does. After we've established the HE for the Banshee is 12, so. Okay. And we know that the shadows is somewhere between 10 and 14, because 10 missed and 14 hit. Oh, man. E high HP. So that's 14 damage.
00:49:58
Speaker
OK, yeah, it's you similar, unfortunately, to Miki. Realise that probably hasn't done the damage that you hoped it would. OK, and he's going to look at it. OK, and he's going to look at it a little bit, I guess, that that didn't happen. And because he's frenzied attack, just contemplate for a second and go again. Yes, roll to hit. You also get advantage on this. I do. I do. I'm going for it. Amazing. I'm going for it. Ooh, 12.
00:50:26
Speaker
Meet some beats, Sankhana. Good job you had the advantage. That's very good. And he's going to do 16 points of damage. Okay, great. Thank you. As you cleave into this banshee, it's still upright, but all of a sudden now, you can actually see the shadow wall behind you. There are physical holes appearing in this banshee where it's been pierced and slashed. So nice work. Is that the end of your turn, Edic?
00:50:54
Speaker
Yes, I don't think I can do anything else other than disengage, which I don't want to do. Okay, Miki, it's your turn. Yeah, I've seen that the barrage of attacks that have gone at this banshee have had some kind of effect due to holes and slashes. I'm going to summon on a beetle style friend called Oliver of mine. Oliver, I need you to take this and go at that. So I'm going to attack
00:51:23
Speaker
again with my hand crossbow to begin with in the hopes that this will hit, otherwise the rest of the turn needs jack shit. Oh, come on, bigger, bigger, bigger. OK, 24 to hit. Yeah, that hits. Lovely. I will roll for damage on that to begin with, which is seven points of piercing damage. Yeah. My dung beetle's thorns are also going to dig into this banshee for another
00:51:53
Speaker
d6. Unless this is magic, it's also reduced. Yeah, it's another three points of piercing damage that gets reduced. But the seed that I gave Oliver was a sneering strike.
00:52:09
Speaker
that I'm going to try and do is a bonus action spell. The next time you hit a creature with a weapon attack, a writhing mass of thorny vines appears at the point of impact and the target must succeed on a strength saving throw or be restrained. This turn or next turn? Right, the strength saving throw is now. Okay, what do you need from me? A strength saving throw, yeah? Yes.
00:52:37
Speaker
Ooh, it's got a minus three modifier. Wow, that's a 10. You fail! Banshee has a strength score of one, which gives it a minus three modifier. Yes, it's a 10. Okay, so yeah, the Banshee is restrained. Oh, no, it's not.
00:52:59
Speaker
It's got an immunity, a condition immunity to being restrained. Sorry Callum. Strength modifier with dog, it has a condition immunity. No, that's right. Now that's fair enough, that's fair enough. Okay, okay. You ain't doing that shit yet.
00:53:16
Speaker
Yep, okay, so you have done the damage, but unfortunately it is not restrained. Ren's turn. Ren is going to, the jewels in her hand are going to glow, and she says, holy shit, we've probably got about, well, not long, but the bad thing is, is I no longer know where it will be teleporting us to, but it's better than staying here, right? And that's the end of her turn.
00:53:45
Speaker
Look, Ben there, it's your turn. Lovely. So McBenna will hear that and he'll sort of look over and be like, Hey, squirrel boy, you better want to get over here. Otherwise you're going to be left behind. And then I'm going to shoot the Banshee with my silvered arrows again. Go for it. Kill it. Kill it now. Oh.
00:54:15
Speaker
That's a 13 to hit. Yes, hit. Thanks. Then that's 11 points of magical piercing damage, followed by a further three points. So that is 14 in total magical piercing damage. You needed a two on the hunter's mark.
00:54:39
Speaker
And the Banshee just disintegrates into shadows like everything you've seen before. The Banshee is no more. However, there is the slight issue of the fact that there is a shadow in Drago's face, unless you've got anything else to do, McBenna.
00:54:54
Speaker
No, that would be my go done. I'm going to switch my Hunter's Mark to the one facing Drago ready for next turn, but that's it. Okay, great. Drago, your turn. One of these rotting decaying shadows is right up in your grill. And Drago's going to swing his great axe for an attack in what feels like the first time in a year. And let's see him fail. Fourteen. Hits.
00:55:28
Speaker
15 points of slashing damage with a silvered great axe. He takes a moment to get used to the weight because it's not Dengong's deception, but he brings it down over his head and as an axe cleaving a piece of wood in two, that's what he does for the shadow. It's a pure hit. Are you smiting? No.
00:55:54
Speaker
Okay, great. You hit this creature and it seems to cleave it almost in half, but it still seems to be mangled, but upright as it stands in front of you. Is there anything else to do with your turn? Yeah, I'm going to attack it again.
00:56:10
Speaker
How do you do that as a level 4 character? Because I don't. I'm just used to it. Yeah, sorry level 4 characters. You don't get multi attack. Yeah. A smite would probably have finished it off, which is why I was asking. No, I'm not in a smite mood. He's not burning the spell slots when he got three.
00:56:28
Speaker
Okay, right, but it's still upright and it's still stood in front of you. You will hear, it's too far away this time to inflict on you what happened last time, however, but you hear from the right wall the unmistakable sound of another Banshee is starting to materialise through that wall. That's the end of the new Banshee's turn. Top of the round. That's the end of Draghi's go, you just hear
00:56:55
Speaker
I think we might need to stab a book. Been here, done it. Nice. Karl, it is your turn. OK. Shadow within your grill as well. Shadow's all up in my grill. As that's kind of coming in, I'm looking around and I'm trying to work out when the fuck we're going to teleport out of here. Kind of sheer fear coming over. It's cat-like eyes.
00:57:25
Speaker
is going to look around at the rest of the group very, very swiftly. And I'm going to hold a spell. And I'd like the trigger action to be just before, if I can work out, just before our teleport goes off. You'll have to make an arcana check because this rends a much more powerful caster than you. OK, yeah, no worries. Shall I roll that now? Or do you want to roll it at more time? Roll it now.
00:57:55
Speaker
Okay. And I'll keep them out of it. Three.
00:58:02
Speaker
OK, it's going to be difficult to predict that because you've never teleported, you don't know teleportation circle. And as Ren says, and I do have this in my notes, it's a good job as well that something can happen that causes the spell to be cast quicker, but your destination will change to something much more random. Ren is losing control of this spell in a way that she still has control of it, but she's losing control of where you're going, basically. So it's really hard for you to
00:58:32
Speaker
To predict that unfortunately car But still surely you can hold the action and do it when you think it's happening Yeah, I mean you'll see when the spell is cast and then you can do it. I I'm so sorry. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's fine. I'll keep that I'll keep the spell hell I'll keep the thing in my face. I'll kind of brace for the hit that is most likely incoming Just checking are you casting a spell? Is it a spell slot or just oh, it's concentrated
00:58:58
Speaker
If you're holding it, it costs the spell slot. That's fine. That's fine. And I might lose it. That's fine. I will. I think Callum's right. You can only hold it for a round. Oh, right. Okay. Or lose it regardless.
00:59:14
Speaker
If I can drop it, I don't want to use it. But if you're playing what Karl would do, you have heard Ren say I'm not far away from casting this and I'm not sure where we're going. I'm close, I'm close. Here it comes. That is my first campaign sister. Take that out of your mouth. No Ian, I've never heard that before. You're obviously not listening to me.
00:59:43
Speaker
It's the earplugs, man. I'll hold the spell. I've ticked off the spell slot for it. I'll take some trait on it. Great. Thank you. The Shadow's turn. Yes, you're not surprised to find that the one in front of you, Drago, is going to take a swing at you. And seven to hit. No. The one in front of Carl is going to roll a 12 to hit. Doesn't hit.
01:00:13
Speaker
I'm comparing Mark Brewer's shit monster dice. Okay, yep, they both miss. That is the end of the shadows turn. I'm really glad that Banshee got his whale off, otherwise I wouldn't have actually played a glove on you. Eddic, it's your turn. The Banshee is gone. There are two shadows back the way you came. How close are the shadows next to each other? So the one next to Karl is about
01:00:39
Speaker
Yeah, Karl you can get to if you use all of your movement, the one next to Karl. You can't get to the one near Drago, it's the other side. Okay, then so 30 feet movement. Yep. Yep, then 30 feet movement. And we'll do it again. We'll do reckless attack. Just straight in. Bolting along. D-D-D-D-D. Two hit. Two dicks.
01:01:08
Speaker
What do you want? Do you want the 20 or do you want the 26? Well, if the 20 is natural, that's better. Oh, hang on. I don't think it was. No, it wasn't. Well, you've hit, you've hit. Oh, hang on. No, it was a 20 plus six. The 26 was natural plus six. You've got to quit, my friend. You've got to quit. Because you want that, because that doubles. You did a thing. That was my damage dice. That was useful, considering... Actually, no, this is the shadow. It doesn't have the magical resistance that the Banshee did, so you go nuts.
01:01:37
Speaker
Cool. So, yeah, for the first attack. Oh, it has rolled the two already, which is nice. That wasn't good. 11. Damage? Yes. Yeah. I believe that includes the crit because it automatically, I'm on D&D Beyond it, automatically rolled to D6. Oh, yes. I'm frenzying to hit this again. D12. Yes, yes, of course. Go for it.
01:02:07
Speaker
14 and... Come on. The advantage. Let's go. 25, not crit. Yeah, that hits. Roll damage. Okay, rolling the damage. 14.
01:02:25
Speaker
Nice. Okay, yeah, this one disappears as you crush through it. This one is dead as well. Eddic, your kill count is ridiculous. Barbarians. I'm four. You go right through it, and to be fair, McBennigot the Banshee. But yes, that is... I still count as one. That shadow is dead, thank you. Miki, the only hostile present is the shadow in front of Drago.
01:02:54
Speaker
And I will most certainly be aiming for that shadowy presence in front of Drog. Come on, fire by me. Give my hand a crossbow. Accidentally forget to fire and then be like, oh no. 21 to hit. More damage. Actually, don't bother. It's got one hit point. Oh, I rolled max damage anyway.
01:03:15
Speaker
Okay, yeah, I've just seen it. Drago did 15. It's not one hit point. Yep. This crossbow bolt just goes through it and it is decimated. It is no more. Ren's turn. All of a sudden the teleport flickers and Ren's like, this thing is open, but I ain't got a clue where it's going. And that's the end of her turn. The teleport is now glowing bright. So that unleashes Kyle's held action as you see the teleport is now cast. Okay. So.
01:03:43
Speaker
Carl is going to, with this happening, kind of quickly stare around the room and he's going to say, Mickey, get the tomb in quick. And as I shout that in your head, Mickey, you will hear, may you rest with the raven fucker in this eternal tomb.
01:04:04
Speaker
And with a bonus action, I'm casting my cutting words again to reduce the saving throw by a D six. And I'm casting dissonant whispers on you. Oh my God. Don't care.
01:04:18
Speaker
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. Right. This is all happened in a mental workspace. So I don't hear this. No one hears this. Just a little whispers. You don't hear it. Yeah. Just to confirm because this is delicious. Definitely not heard it. It doesn't get my popcorn. What is where are the birds gone?
01:04:41
Speaker
okay so am i doing another wisdom saving throw here it's a wisdom saving throw i think you still get advantage do you want to do your d6 again i've rolled mine already i'll let you know what it is okay i think me oh that is bad okay my first roll was a four on my wisdom saving throw
01:05:09
Speaker
Oh, I fucked this up. Mine is one. I rolled a one, which is the minimum, but you will now take three D six points of damage, which is terrible. Only five points of psychic damage. And you've got to immediately use your reaction to get as far away as possible. Use your full movement to get away from Carl. Indeed. Which is, uh, 30, no, 25 feet.
01:05:37
Speaker
Yeah, I'm gonna use all my movement and I have to I have to run away into the bank left or right I've got to go left Okay, so is this away from the portal?
01:05:52
Speaker
Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We've just heard in context for me and the audience, we've heard Karl go quick, Miki, get the tomb in the teleport. And at the same time, Miki turns heel and runs away from the teleport. Yeah. I'm running in further into the bank. This is a thing. This is when you're running towards one of the wall shadows.
01:06:18
Speaker
And Drago then will suddenly still think that Miki's got the book. So Drago will then... That's what I mean. So yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So everyone believes that Miki's still got the book and we've just watched him. For no reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason. For no apparent reason.
01:06:45
Speaker
Um, McBenna will just look confused and be, and suddenly look around and go, Mickey, what the fuck are you doing? And, um, he'll, he'll, he's going to stay in the circle because he's also wearing the shadows and he, he, yeah, that's, there's nothing, he's going to hold an action. If a shadow comes out of the wall closest to Mickey, I'm going to shoot it. But that's it.
01:07:15
Speaker
Okay. Drago. This is fucking great. I can't do anything. I can't do anything. How far is Miki now from me? That's the question. So to run past you, it's about 20 feet from you.
01:07:48
Speaker
Okay, I'm going to... You hear out in your head, Miki. A command. Stop. As I've watched you just turn about face with a book and peg it. You need to make a wisdom saving throw of 12. And I've got to do it with advantage.
01:08:12
Speaker
Okay, so the first one's 12. There you go. You don't... I don't have to hear what you say. I don't have to hear my voice go, come out and stop. And you just piss off. But I wouldn't know if that failed or not. You just keep going. But other than that, after doing that, Drago just kind of stays around Ren, axe in hand, feet apart at a ready stance and just kind of looking bewildered at Mickey.
01:08:41
Speaker
And then he looks towards Benno. You know him, does he do this? And then that's it. Karl, your turn. It's background to me again already. Amazing. I'm waiting by the portal, kind of looking around the rest of the group, just out. Let's go. We got to get out of here. Let's go. Okay.
01:09:08
Speaker
Left wall, thick shadows emerge. Right wall, thick shadows seem to come through at this point. Yes, you can unleash your held action, McBenna.
01:09:20
Speaker
Thank you. This is without Hunter's Mark. It's a bonus action to move it. That's 25 to hit. One of the creatures that's closest to Mickey takes nine points of magical piercing damage. Yep, flashes into it. Still upright, but it does take the damage.
01:09:40
Speaker
OK, thank you. That's the shadows done. Your reaction. Sorry, quick question. So obviously, Ren's casting the portal. Is the portal... Is it now cast or is it just a case of death? You know upon Ren's next turn, this thing is teleporting and everyone not in it is not going with it. So you've got to Ren's turn. You're safe.
01:10:07
Speaker
It's Eddic and Miki who aren't safe and on the subject of which it's Eddic's turn. Sorry, I missed that. When does the portal bugger off?
01:10:18
Speaker
End of Ren's turn. So if you're not in the circle at the end, I mean, I've said it now, but on a meta level, would Eddic know that that's when the spell is going to go? McBennah would, because McBennah used this spell before. Okay, so Ren did shout out at this point. Yes, she has shouted out. Shout out the rules, like you need to be in it. McBennah said multiple times you need to be in the circle when this thing goes on.
01:10:44
Speaker
And now you've heard Ren go, all right, this is about to go off. So it is meta, but also at the same time, you have been given all the information. You are raging. And for aging, it depends on how I don't know how your rage and frenzy mind works. Drago was very tunnel vision when that hit that point. And it's tunnel vision. It's because that's it. You've got to be unconscious to lose the concentration of rage. So how far away is Miki from me?
01:11:16
Speaker
If Miki's gone the other way, you were to the right with the Banshee, Miki's to the left. I was next to Karl, because I piloted him on that one, I believe. If Miki's gone 30 feet from Karl, Miki's 30 feet from you. He went 25, I believe. I went 25, I've only got 25 feet. Yeah, 25 from you then, so you have 30 feet. So 30, I can get him. So I'll do the 25 and I'll grapple him. I'll try and hold him down, which I believe is an attack action.
01:11:45
Speaker
Yeah. If you're trying to grapple me, it's your athletics versus my acrobatics or athletics. Yeah.
01:11:54
Speaker
Well, you're muted, but I consume rules confirming that's the rules. Sorry. So seeing Miki run away and the interactions that they've had previously, the loyalty, he's got some form of wanting to make sure that Miki is safe and he thinks Miki's going the wrong direction. There's no concept in his mind that there's any deception going.
01:12:18
Speaker
He just wants to get Miki to the safe place. He's seeing him run away and he's just gonna chase him down. So he's just pelting after you. Miki, he's sweaty! And instead of like a nice way of doing it, just gonna barrel into him at full speed and try and hold you in place.
01:12:40
Speaker
Bearing in mind, Dissonant Whispers only makes you use your reaction to run away, you don't have to continue running after that. You literally, it's like the shock of the action, just so you're aware, Callum. It's, oh god, I'm being attacked, run away, and then you stop. Thank you. Okay, it's the final turn before this teleportation goes off, and it is your turn, Miki.
01:13:03
Speaker
So I didn't know whether... I think that was still my test. I think Mike was grappling with Mickey too. We re-decided whether Mickey is going to contest the grapple. OK. Well, at the moment, would I still be under the effect of dissonant whispers? It's your reaction. No. Just a reaction. So, no, I'm not going to contest the grapple. So, OK. In that case, do I have to declare that that was a grapple?
01:13:33
Speaker
Or can I? No, it would be a grapple. It would be a grapple. You've kind of paralled into me and then you've just kind of lifted me up off the ground with both your hands kind of thing and that's just no resistance. Lifted you up. Can I do a second movement? Or no? You can finish your move, but you've moved some of your movement.
01:13:54
Speaker
Yeah, and you've used your action to pick so I can't do the rest of the movie You can't spend the dash you you can use the other five or whatever. You've got left to turn back the other way But you can't use a dash action to move another 30 feet Can I throw I Mean if the deal because yeah, there's been a lot happen here Yeah, I'm gonna rule no, but it is now
01:14:26
Speaker
miki's turn i'm gonna do the five bags i am going to do the five-back salmon twenty-way from the fourth okay great so you could use his action to try and break the grapple if unless edit tries to let him go and then miki could leave him okay well it's miki's turn in all fairness um i think all miki would do he's going to stay grappled uh with
01:14:55
Speaker
Eddic and just be like What the hell am I doing? Let's go. Sorry. I think I got scared. Let's go. Let's go I'm just gonna point towards the portal as if I'm like Gesturing to somebody carry me over there carry me over there I mean you probably know that it was car that attacked you because you heard his voice I'd according to the spell. I wouldn't do not I
01:15:17
Speaker
No, only one creature your choice within range can, well, it says, within range can hear. If you'd like me to roll a deception, because I obviously would try to change my voice with it. No, that's retconning. If you're saying you won't recognize it, you won't recognize it. I don't, yeah, I don't think personally I would recognize that spell from him. Yes, no, DM decision made. So yeah, that's all I'm doing. I'm telling Eddic to get me back to the portal.
01:15:46
Speaker
Ren glances around quickly at those faces in the portal and then she looks out towards Eddic and Miki with the look of, I'm sorry, and what happens is, boom, Bena, Drago, Carl and Ren, teleport. The circle is gone, they are gone. Oh my God, those of you left,
01:16:17
Speaker
Edic, can you roll a straight d20 for me? And Miki, can you do the same? Yes, I can. And then if you could do that five more times for your new stats, that'd be great. Ooh, not good. I got an 11. Okay. Six. Between you, you managed to put together this epic standards, these shadows surround you, where you take down the combined 17 of these shadows.
01:16:48
Speaker
before you are consumed by the darkness. What happens for those of you who teleported is you suddenly come to face down on what appears to be a timber deck. You can smell the salt of sea air. You all come to and you're on the deck of a fishing boat.
01:17:18
Speaker
You glance around looking for Miki and Edic and realize that they have been lost. Lost to the city that is trapped in time. I am going to have to ask for an editor's note here because I have about 10 minutes more worth of content. However, do we feel that that's an ending point? Yes.
01:17:49
Speaker
because it leads to open. So if we need another one shot, you can have us pick this up.

Future Storylines and Character Flexibility

01:17:55
Speaker
I think it's a bit of an open ending as well. And also, I think it's a very last of us one ending where it's like equally bad and successful. I think.
01:18:06
Speaker
I like that. I think all of a sudden out of this, we've got a a future of Big Bad and Carl and Will's got another character in Ben. I don't know. There's something to be played with here. I mean, can we promise we're going to pick? Yeah. Can we pick these guys back up? If you literally I think if we ever need like episodes where Mark's like, I can't do it, but we can get together and we need to fill even in another in another world.
01:18:36
Speaker
Like, say that, who's your fucking other character, Will? M. Ron. M. Ron dies. You've got someone to pick up. Yeah, but McBenn is in that. This is Darren's company for McBenn. So Darren could have taken us back to Sword Coast. Open ending. We don't have to clarify that right now. So just end it as you were, Darren. That's that's great. I think it's a good place. It's a really excellent place. But no promises that this get picked up, but it doesn't doesn't

Open Questions and Character Reflections

01:19:05
Speaker
matter.
01:19:05
Speaker
like in some ways it's so strong i'll be sure it will but i'll play with you darren right me and you mate thanks mate um i'll go i'll come back in after silence and say and that's where we're going to leave it then yeah okay if you're happy that if that's where well yes there was a nice little reveal coming up but this has trumped it this this is it's going to struggle to come in now after we've lost two characters so good
01:19:29
Speaker
Yeah, I had in my mind, anyone left behind, they roll the collective D20 and that's how many they managed to take out before they're consumed. Let's go, let's go, let's go. I always still feel it. Okay, yeah. And as you glance around and wonder what happened, that is where we're going to end it for this week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop.
01:19:52
Speaker
Oh my gosh. I only knew you for like a week, but we had a thing. Edic, it's been an honor. It was the best of friends I made out of you. I am so sorry. You guys, your characters were the most amazing, please. I love how I lost our relationship. He took out the guy who killed the most.
01:20:19
Speaker
The one who was with the book of bullshit, like you took out two of the most powerful. But if he is a right, horrible person, then he's done well. Well, doesn't get meek. He doesn't have the book. Carl does. Oh, no, we know. We know with the book, no words.
01:20:40
Speaker
Everyone knows that this has been lovely. I've been epic, thank you so much. It is very Halloween-y. Really enjoyed it. Hill, any time Will plays a character now, I'm just going to kill it. And we've got our resident, wait till old Gell comes back in, he's going to get shot in the face. Any character Will plays must therefore be a knob at some point. Absolutely.
01:21:08
Speaker
So much for the lovable roads. So good.

Acknowledgments and Farewell

01:21:11
Speaker
That was delicious on so many levels. I'm shocked. And so, audience, we leave you with so many questions and potential new plotlines. And that's the way that this dice has rolled on this short but very, very amazing campaign. Give it up to Darren for being our pseudo DM.
01:21:35

ending. You've made so many books homeless now, Carl. I hope you're happy. Although they were consumed with you. Do you think they were the only ones I had? They were just the ones I could bring. If it's any consideration. They're dead, man. Well, we are back to our regular scheduled programming next week. We will pick up on the aftermath of a rotor and nicks.
