The End Begins: Fellowship of the Tabletop Finale

00:00:35
Speaker
Hello, everyone, and welcome to the final episode of this... Go! Shit! Hello, welcome to this episode of this shit. I tried to... It is, it feels like it. Okay. Hello, everyone, and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop, where I play fivey D&D podcast set for the final time in the magical homebrewed world of Aerith. My name is Mark, and I'm a dungeon master, and also for today's final episode! We have Ian, who plays Dragon Ball Barbarian, Drago! What is up? We've got...
00:01:04
Speaker
DARREN who plays the human fighter, Rogue Robin! So one more time, I need to be the one who ends the line. We've got Casey who plays the human champion, Helen the Sleetguard. Come on baby! We've got Callum who plays the name sorcerer, Folly Fizzmack in the 9th! Bring it on! And Will.
00:01:22
Speaker
Who plays? Who plays? Who do you play again? Will you play Karstan, Valhorn, Finbin, the third, Bard extraordinaire, son of his mother, Selma Hips, glorious all-round hero of a man and rules master. We have Will, hello Will.
00:01:56
Speaker
And also posthumously with us, we also have, we couldn't leave him after the final lap, so we've got Danny who plays the posthumor played.
00:02:08
Speaker
Claude. Hashtag too soon. Bonjour, everyone. Bonjour. We've also got... Oh, that's a crumpet together. Chewy. We've got chewy. And chewy. Dying as well. Give us a woof, chewy. Woof!
00:02:19
Speaker
Thanks Darren. I would have left that silence until he parked. That's really weird that Darren's wearing a dog outfit. Is it weird or is it just normal Sunday night

Reflecting on the Campaign Journey

00:02:29
Speaker
for Darren? So we find ourselves on the presser piss of the end of this campaign. Thank you so much for sticking with us for all these hundreds, god knows how many episodes you've done now.
00:02:39
Speaker
108. That's just the official ones. Not all the extras. If we're just going pure numbers, 108. At least there is 125 hours combined of our voices out there on the podcast world. Which means that when we die in real life, you can take the AI. He can make some AI. In 70 years time.
00:03:01
Speaker
to take our voices and make us basically real, because there's definitely enough content of all our voices to remake our voices. Yeah, but not my real voice, it's this voice. Yeah, that'd be great. Yeah, I don't think I talk like this a lot of the time. They did it in Superman, didn't they? We also did Gladiator with Oliver Reed. Oliver Reed, yeah. They reused his outtakes.
00:03:20
Speaker
They did Star Wars or Harking and we are like them. We're just clearly the caliber we have reached. To be fair though, if you take episode one to episode 108 part three, if that's the case for this, um, I think we've come a long way. Our progress score is good.
00:03:37
Speaker
I always think if you can look back at something you've done cringe at it, then you've shown growth. And I definitely cringe when I think... Trust me, when I listen to you back, I do cringe too, so I'm right there with you. Everybody cringes. Have you ever listened to a gnome in the middle of the biggest epic fight decide he's gonna get his nipples out? Because that's... It really came here. Yeah, you've really grown as a character. Yes, the nips

Intense Battles Unfold

00:03:59
Speaker
have.
00:03:59
Speaker
On last week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop we brought two of our fights, our final two fights, to their penultimate moments. We had Drago now alone facing off against Grazit, surrounded by the Blight in the middle of wide open combat. Swinging his sword up and I held him just before his first roll of two, because he has advantage on them, against Grazit.
00:04:23
Speaker
We also had my death knight back with the main party in the tower before they were to use the onyx river to destroy the book, the world away, throwing it into the rift and ending the blight. The death knight had been trapped in what can only be described as a hamster ball of a spell. A shiny hamster ball. A shiny, which he pushes around now, useless. And Elphir had just at the last second, as Robin had given him a final ultimatum on
00:04:49
Speaker
ending this and changing and returning back to what he previously was. Pulled up Ghostbane and as he brought Ghostbane down the figure of Elthir shifted and changed into that of Tali and Robin had dropped his sword at that moment. We are still technically in initiative order but we can say for the moment's time there is a lull, there's a pause in combat between you all. As you look now upon the face
00:05:18
Speaker
body voice of one of your long time friends. Robin, you have known Tylee since before.
00:05:28
Speaker
the blight before you joined Aerith when you appeared here on the Osran Islands so many months ago and she's looking back up at you her blue eyes staring up a look of dismay, regret and horror on her face as she did and you can still hear the echo over the tower of stop stop stop stop echo out there's a silence forms across the tower Robin you lower your sword
00:05:58
Speaker
as a group, what do you want to do? Inside check. Or perception check to see whether it's absolute, like absolutely, who is it? Sure, it's just some kind of magical illusion. Thank you. You gave me a, well, who's doing it? You're a caster thing, so who wants to do what? I'm proficient in insight. Are you proficient in perception? Well, this is a meta conversation. Wow. I'm not doing anything. I can't stand to seize everything. I would be too far away for this, so I'm out. Cast on, you go. What are you doing?
00:06:27
Speaker
I'm using perception. Does this image look like Tali or does it have the hallmarks of being some kind of illusion or something that is looking like Tali but not actually? Use your passive of 33. Oh yeah, that bullshit. However, didn't we have our friend on Twitter tell us that? Yeah, you can't actually use his passive. Yes, you can. The base of D&D actually, there's a whole thing on the D&D anyways that yes, the passive is the baseline.
00:06:52
Speaker
I can find it. Still, we love your support and I believe you. Thank you for talking to us. Thank you. I prefer that you can count on a breakaway. Listener's opinion, I won't lie. Listener, so you have to support all of us if you're trying to challenge World Tour Fight. Oh, God, yeah. Absolutely. I could find the writers doing it in an interview and say, yeah, it counts the baseline.
00:07:10
Speaker
Otherwise there's no point in having the feat that raises your passive. Do you know what I mean? I guess it makes you more nervous to find traps for that. Anyway, what is, what do you want to roll? I can roll as well, but my passive is the baseline. It's up to you, do what you like.
00:07:31
Speaker
It's your crazy perception. I'll also fight the first time on Twitter and find a way. Cadwen. Cadwen? That's the, that's the Twitter hero that tried to nullify Will. Champion. Keep trying. Thank you very much. You have our back. You have our support. Passive 28. As you look at Tali, one thing is for certain.
00:08:00
Speaker
one or the other is not true. So you aren't sure which image one of them is an image because now this either looks more right or less right. It's different but it's just clarified to you something was a right to begin with as well. What without here or with? Correct. Okay.
00:08:24
Speaker
And so it's almost like, you know, when you see, you watch something in like 720p and it's only when it boosts up to HD that you realize, Oh Christ, I was watching it on a potato. It's kind of like that, that only until this figure switched entirely that you realized, hang on a minute, something wasn't right to begin with as well. That's as much as I'm going to give you for that. So with that information, the rest of you are stood around.
00:08:53
Speaker
And our panting, bloody tarlie stood in front of you, in front of the rift. What do you want to do? She doesn't say anything. She just looks at you all. What the fuck are you doing here? I could ask the same thing about you! What do you mean? This is what we came here for! But not against me!
00:09:12
Speaker
You're not supposed to be here! Step out of the way please, we need to get to the rift. Listen, you can't do this. Why? Because this isn't how you end the Blight! You stab the- nothing can close this now. You think that stabbing a book with a knife and throwing it into a pit is gonna change anything. That's what he wants, it's been planted in your head. Don't you see it now?
00:09:39
Speaker
No, who? Who's planted it in? I don't know! There is a complete cud's wallop! Get out of the way! No, you have to understand and you can look at Robin. Robin, believe me, if you go ahead with this, nothing will change except those that have died will continue to die, and those that will live will also die. Robin, that is not Dali!
00:10:05
Speaker
Ask if something only you would know. You had an amazing relationship with her. There must be something you discussed. Something that Elthea wouldn't know that you would. Elthea and I, it is a complicated and long relationship. Think back. Think back to when he left. That's when things started to change in me as well. Think of our time on the mountains.
00:10:35
Speaker
Think of all those moments that you've... It started with him. So ask away. Oh my fuck, what the shit in hell in bollocks and what? Curveball. You're not here. I know. That's a fan. Who can hear the voice of Ian on the wind? I'm dying.
00:11:04
Speaker
Death Knight, come on. Just while this argument's going, I'm slowly pushing the Death Knight into the void on this glow thing. It's kind of rolling, yeah, it's got to go quarterstaff up as the first instant, and this thing's weightless, so he's kind of whacking it towards the void, having fun. Tali, look at me. She looks up into your eyes. What are you saying?
00:11:30
Speaker
I'm saying you've all been lied to. This is not the end. This is not how it ends. If we've got nothing to lose then there's no reason why we shouldn't go ahead and do what we've came here to do. Because how do you know it won't give her more power? How does it end then? I don't know. It's got to be worth trying and Helen is just going to get the book out of her bag with the Onyx Reaver and go towards the rift. She's going to grab your wrist and
00:11:59
Speaker
Gently at first. Helena, please don't do it. Just don't. Tolly, my people are relying on this. Family. Everybody. Your people are relying

Sacrifice and Loss: Folly's Choice and Claude's Death

00:12:15
Speaker
on you, Helena. You have to survive this. I told you this. Give me the book and give me the dagger. No, I came here to do this and I... Someone else has to stab the book, Helena.
00:12:26
Speaker
You can't do it. Why? Because you'll die. Whoever stabs the books dies. I saw it in your vision and I spoke to Cole about it and he knew this too. Then why did you give me the book? Why give me the river? Whatever Drago's reasons for are now lost with him. But you can't stab this book. You cannot die here.
00:12:51
Speaker
You've got to stay and be queen or go and find your parents so they can rule. You have to help sleep guard rebuild. Well, we're wasting time. Somebody needs to stab the book now. I'm sorry, Tali, how are you supposed to know any of the reasons behind the book, the rift, the blight? Because of the connection that Elthir and I have had since day one, since the beginning, since we came through into this world.
00:13:21
Speaker
And since his fall and his demise in with Grazit, things have never quite been the same. Can I just quickly... I want to cast a spell at fifth level and I want to cast Hold Person on everyone. Okay.
00:13:45
Speaker
Everyone. Everyone needs to make a wisdom saving throw. And the death knight? The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void. The death knight's in the void.
00:14:12
Speaker
What is the, what are the semantic, what are the elements of it? Basically what is happening, Folly is fiddling with a small piece of iron that is in his pocket. But does it have that gun in your pocket? There is verbal somatic components to it. So he is kind of talking to itself in a low whisper because he wants to, he doesn't want any kind of
00:14:38
Speaker
come back on this. He does not want any resistance. Everyone's arguing, everyone's focusing on Tali, so he is trying to do this subtly. You would hear some muttering, but you wouldn't see what he's doing, Caster, mainly because you just had your nice dramatic moment facing forward. You can hear Folly muttering something behind you. Yes. No, you're not looking at him.
00:15:05
Speaker
You still need to be, I thought you needed to be looking in line of sight at the target for counter spell. I thought so. Oh, I just done a rule thing. I'm so impressed. You see a creature within 60 feet of you casting a spell, so you've got to see it. Yeah. Okay. Only because I would have said you could have seen it if you, but you just made that lovely dramatic speech, which for me, you were looking at the kind of mental. What's the same?
00:15:32
Speaker
They're 18. No, no, what was it? Oh, wisdom. A Tally roller one, a natural one. So it was like a four. So she's held. Damn, that rolled over. Six. 17. 17.
00:15:47
Speaker
Oh my god. Oh my god. It's been Agatha, it's been Folly all along. Yeah, Folly's just gonna now shove you all into the void. Before you decide what you're going to do, everyone freezes under the control of your spell. The camera.
00:16:10
Speaker
He's like, oh shit. You son of a bitch. And shifts over the muscle. The lines, the lines of undead fighting across against the obsidianist as the carapans to a slowly encompassing circle of the blight stepping in.
00:16:25
Speaker
One step at a time towards Drago towards Grazit Grazit down on almost one knee blood pouring from his face Drago blood pouring from his skull As the sword came up for that swing down you had one of two rolls to make you made your first What is your first roll?
00:16:42
Speaker
So the first roll, so the sword was piercing through Grazert's skin and the hilt of the blade was cracking against Grazert's face as I was pulling back up and that was a 28 on the first. I'm going to go for the advantage. I was one off a crit. Definitely 28. 16 points of slashing damage.
00:17:08
Speaker
How would you want to kill? 12 points left. That's why I paused. Because I thought if you hit, that's the damage. 12 points of damage left. How would you like to kill a demigod? So as the blade...
00:17:33
Speaker
As the hilt hits the face of Grazet, it's done with such ferocity and strength that it cracks Grazet's head back all the way. You hear an audible ck in Grazet's neck. As then past the hilt, the blade follows up and it slices through the Adam's apple of Grazet and then carries on through the cleat of the jaw and the bridge of the nose and finally in between the eyes as
00:18:01
Speaker
this flourish and final attack takes all of Drago's strength and he gets down to both knees as the blade simultaneously hits the air and blood splatters and flies up as you see Grazette probably looks surprised for a moment as his face starts to tear into two and you've just got Drago
00:18:25
Speaker
covered in Grazette's blood his blood he doesn't know as the rain comes down as these two halves of his body thud into the rain either side they both twitch slightly and then start to fall into ash as it into the air and
00:18:40
Speaker
forms into a small black shroud similar that to you remember from years and years and years ago that you remember from your father before that starts to build up speed quicker and quicker than falters stops tries to build up speed again got quicker quicker falters stops and then this ember happens from below and suddenly these this black mist starts to burn and
00:19:01
Speaker
and becomes almost like the burning bush if you want a biblical reference there as you hear the scream the voice of grass it scream out louder and louder echoing across the grounds before coming to a silent end as the still vertical rain continues to fall almost no other noise seems to penetrate through to you except the noise of that and the very labored breathing of Claude
00:19:34
Speaker
In that silence, as Grazia is operating away, you hear Drago, dangle deceptions too heavy now.
00:19:47
Speaker
It's hit the floor and he's panting, he's on his knees and he just lets loose every ounce of barbarian and paladin and religious rage from the death of his father, from everything Grazette's done to losing his friend, part of his family, Claude. And you just say this.
00:20:14
Speaker
And he looks over once he hears Claude's panting breath, drops Dengon's deception and just on all fours crawls over to Claude and takes his friend, one of his arms goes over to brace Claude's shoulder. It's done. Claude, we did it. Claude, we did it. He's gone.
00:20:45
Speaker
Claudia, you have the capacity to respond if you wish. Just with whatever strength I have left, lift off the ground my shield may be like a centimetre or so. And I'll just turn to try and go save Lucian. And then I'll let all my breaths go.
00:21:12
Speaker
and Claude falls limp in your hands as he references to his shield. I will. I will. Thank you for more than I can describe.
00:21:42
Speaker
thanks for my life rest rest peacefully my friend your death wasn't in vain
00:22:00
Speaker
And as the body falls limp, Drago is going to take a hand and just press it gently across Claude's face to close his eyes and then let his body rest on the ground. Right. Okay. Okay. Okay. Lucien.
00:22:27
Speaker
He's going to grab Claude's shield and brace it in his right hand. He's going to get back up on one knee. Come on, focus. Come on. Hang on. Hang on to deception. Grab Stengon's sword and sheaves it in his bag.
00:22:48
Speaker
Lucien! He's going to look around for Lucien. And through the pummeling rain you can make out the face down torso of Lucien whose kind of legless body lays face down in the dirt about 10 feet away from you.
00:23:05
Speaker
Drago's gonna limp one strong foot and then his other foot as it can't bear the weight and then just catches Drago as he's walking forward. So it's a limp over to Lucian. Lucian! And gets back down on one knee, on his left knee, shielding his right hand, his left hand goes out and he just shakes Lucian's shoulder. Lucian! And he turns him around face up. And you can see him kind of shallow breathing.
00:23:34
Speaker
Drag is going to close his eyes. He was going to do this for Claude, but after Claude's final thing, he's going to close his eyes and summon any power he's got left and do lay on hands. He's going to put his hand on Lucian's chest and just concentrate for a moment and he's going to regain 15 points of health.
00:23:56
Speaker
And you can see the wounds on his legs start to heal over as his blood loss comes to a slow... His wincing breathing slows also. It becomes more kind of stable in its breathing. And though he is still obviously not in a good way. I got you. His eyes flicker open. He doesn't say anything. I got you. Don't worry. We're going to get out of here. And Jug is going to look around. How close is the horse on dead? Talking about 25 meters, 25 feet away.
00:24:25
Speaker
And is there any horse, is brood around? I assume not. Is any other horses, Lucian's horse, still around? The horse, his horse is around, but it's headless. Can't do much about that, can I? It's around you, literally. Yes, quite literally. It was cleaved in halfway. And just so, just unclear, Lucian's got no legs, right? Right. And only one arm.
00:24:56
Speaker
Well this is going to be interesting.
00:25:10
Speaker
Yeah, that's essentially it. So Drago's, he's done lay on hands. Claude, what have you done to me with your final request? Lay on hands, Lucian's up and breathing at least, he's not up. Drago's, so as we're leaving it, Drago's just kind of come from concentrating and healing up Lucian and he's just still on his knees and he looks up for the first time in what feels like an age and
00:25:40
Speaker
mentally clocks the thousands of a dead that's heading inwards. And with that moment of serendipity and knowledge in your heads, the death of Graz is still echoing across the lands. We fly back over to the tower deep in front of the big chunk of the tower, falls down into the blight as Folly steps forward just after beach ball rolling. One of my undergribblies off into the rift.
00:26:07
Speaker
and then casting a whole person on everyone else. Tali is frozen still, looking up, imploring, Robin, Robin looking down, cast down, looking across, palms open, almost furrowed brow and Helena looking, resolute, hand maybe in satchel, reaching for the book and for the, what was it called? The rift, putting it with the middle fingers up. Folley, you step forward in the resolute quiet of the area. You see the undead probably about two minutes away from reaching you.
00:26:39
Speaker
Yeah, Folly takes things in very quickly and realises it doesn't have a long time, so he's actually basically heading towards Helena, he's grabbing the book, he's grabbing the reaver, and he's going to be heading towards them as soon as I can alter. There is, over the rift, apologies, there is a small stone kind of jutting out that seems to be, if you were to want to drop something in, the easiest way to do it.
00:27:08
Speaker
Right. Yes, just give the impression of like a... It looks to be like a specific space where you can... If it was a computer game, it would have a little, you know... Yeah, it would have a light, an exclamation point, that kind of thing. That's all Folly was looking for, an obvious point. And as he grabs the book and makes his way over to there, he is talking while he's doing this. And he goes, I always told you that one life is worth sacrificing for millions.
00:27:34
Speaker
There should be no discussion about this. It's clearly got to be me, and I'm very sorry to put you all in this kind of position. Robin, you have people to take care of. Karsten, you have a story to tell. Helena, you have people to lead. I'm the only one who in this world does not have anything. I hope that by doing this, I might be able to see those that matter to me the most again. But for now, this is all I can do.
00:28:05
Speaker
Goodbye to you all. As you continue to walk up towards the jutting out moment, you see something start to happen to Tali. And she flickers. And then switches back to Althea. Still frozen. Still under the oppression of whole person. But it's switched into the form of Althea. Same expression looking up at Robin. Still frozen as you make your way through.
00:28:32
Speaker
Obviously, the spell or whatever was working under her has failed. Worn off. OK, so I'm assuming I've had a little bit of time just to do something if I wanted to. We're on the whole person for a minute. Yeah, yeah, yeah. OK, this is literally a six second action as I walk past. Elthea.
00:28:59
Speaker
Would I get a sense that it was a spell that's worn off? Can I make an Arcanic check for that? You can make an Arcanic check, yeah. Oh shit, that was

Triumphant Victory: Drago's Conquest

00:29:08
Speaker
a nine. You know... Something wasn't right. That it was a spell. That's it. You don't know which way. Okay. As... As I walk past Elthea then... I'm just gonna look up at him. And I'm gonna say...
00:29:27
Speaker
You don't deserve Drago as a friend. And I'm going to carry on going up to the end point and finish what he started. So Bag is going to be going in the book. OK.
00:29:43
Speaker
You stand up over the swirling mists of the rift below you. You pull up the red, leather-bound book of the world away. This old, evil religious tome. You take this swirling black dagger in your right hand.
00:30:01
Speaker
Take a deep breath in and you sink the dagger into the book and drop both into the rift below as it starts to topple down. And for a moment nothing happens as it gets lower and lower and lower until it disappears from your sight and then there's an almighty crack above your head.
00:30:19
Speaker
As you look down to your hands, you see on the tips of your fingers a black liquid seems to grow and spread up your hands moving higher and higher as it spreads up your arms moving further and further. Gosh, this feels like... Oh my god. Folly is gonna just, while this black ichor starts to like, seep up his hands and his arms, he's basically going to remove the rucksack from his back and he's just gonna sit down.
00:30:48
Speaker
and it moves further up until it encompasses your arms up across your chest cross your torso your legs down to your boots and up to your head up your neck up until it goes on the back of your head and finally around covering your eyes and it does so a force just slowly tips you and pulls you in
00:31:07
Speaker
Sorry, into the rift along with you as you slowly, but you don't kind of fall. You kind of are tucked down, pulled down by something else, something ulterior to you. And as you pass down the rest of you for a second watching this frozen, you can see probably the corner of your eyes, this all kind of taking place.
00:31:30
Speaker
another loud crack and you just hear this almighty rumble as the power of this book and the rift starts to kind of push these two almost tectonic plates of the world back together forcing these souls back down into the rift below
00:31:49
Speaker
The ground cracks around you as well and the buzzing, this buzzing invades your ears. You see wisps of black mist whip around through the rocks, almost reaching up tendrils, almost reaching up. This buzzing gets louder and louder and louder. And for many of you, this is the first time you will have ever really experienced this. They don't seem to do anything to you though, for the three of you that remain.
00:32:15
Speaker
and they don't seem to do anything to you. But suddenly the whole person drops and you can feel just this almighty kind of earthquake basically taking place all around you as the rift closes back and shuts. But once it has shut, the rumbling continues and parts of the tower begin to crumble down and fall down. But the spell has been released to you. You three are free. What would you like to do?
00:32:37
Speaker
Althea stands there and he is also free with you as well, looking from person to person. I'm going to grab him and I'm going to start dragging and making our way to the doors. I'm going to help him out of this tower. Okay. And you start dragging him out, but as you start... Yeah, sorry, that's what you're doing. Any other guys, what are you doing, Helena?
00:32:59
Speaker
Whilst in Hold Person, Helena watching, sort of the eyes being anything that can flicker, whilst watching Folly doing what he was doing and saying what he'd said, a little tear would just fall from her face, underneath her helmet, saving her face, I suppose, so anybody else couldn't, you know, see that strength weaken. And when she sort of, the holding person stops,
00:33:22
Speaker
She'd grip hold of her flails again and she's ready to go for Elphir just before you will take him. That's Robin, Robin would take him. Okay, yeah, and Karsten. Karsten will run over to Helen and go, Helen, we need to get out of here, let's go, and sort of take me on her arm. Okay, and you quickly make your way out of the tower and just as you do so, the remainder of the tower starts to collapse down on yourself.
00:33:45
Speaker
All that's really remaining are these two doors that slowly fall back onto the rubble from the other side. The pillars with flames are all but extinguished now. And as you look out over the battlefield, you see something part horrific, part heroic taking place.

Post-Battle Reflections and Celebrations

00:34:00
Speaker
The forces of the obsidianists, the forces of the sleepguard surge are still fighting the Blight. But what you notice, these wisps aren't just coming up around you. These wisps are coming up across the entirety of the Blightlands. And as you search from person, you start to notice something strange happening.
00:34:14
Speaker
these wisps were coming up and grabbing the ankle or foot of one of these people, members of the blight and yanking them down under the ground almost as if their souls were being ripped back down below them as Akiva strength continues to grow, the buzzing getting louder and louder as these members of the blight start to go more and more and more and more and more upon the thousands they start to dissipate until
00:34:38
Speaker
as silence, and across these open barren lands there is silence. The rain continues to pour, yet the sun breaks through, releasing a sea of colour onto this sepia world, the forces of the living real.
00:34:59
Speaker
There is silence, then there is cheering. It sounds sporadic at first, but soon forms a chorus, a chant of unity. A single word echoes through the warm rain, echoes over the slow-fallen rainbow as light cascades down on this barren land. One word echoed is life, life, life. Drago.
00:35:31
Speaker
If you'd be so kind, may I describe what you see, please? In my mind and my futile mind.
00:35:41
Speaker
In my mind, Drago figures out quite quickly, there's no out. In my mind, you do the last thing you can do, which is probably take a stand. Yeah, it would have been over Lucian's body as my mind is playing out the shield resting on top of Lucian to provide protection. But Drago stood one foot
00:36:02
Speaker
either or of his body and Dengong's deception once again raised as high as possible which probably would have been at mid length and his knees would have been buckling and the tip of the blade would have been shaken as he's trying to
00:36:17
Speaker
summon all the strength he's got to take on one final stand. Because you took that final breath maybe in your mind and swing Dengron's deception for the final time as it comes thudding down it misses and hits nothing. As that first figure we've got tugged down back into Akiva's underworld and as all those members of the people of the Blight, those figures, those demons, those hellhat creatures that surround you start to get pulled one at a time.
00:36:43
Speaker
until there's just no one around save maybe four or five hundred feet in the distance you can see a single obsidianist soldier looking around just as confused as you are until he just sits down and figures out a small flask of water and just takes a little sip and sits on the floor that he's probably half a kilometer probably away from you it's you and an alive Lucian
00:37:06
Speaker
It's Helena, Robin and Carstan stood outside the remains of the tower, which was once owned by the Sleepguard Surge, which was not owned by the lambs of the Sleepguard. Now. Free. Free from the blight, free from pain, free from evil.
00:37:28
Speaker
As soon as we're out of the tower, Helena's gonna grab Elsa by the throat. Even if Robin's got hold of him. What the fuck have you let him live? She's gonna say to you, Robin. He feels really light and limp in your hands now, by the way. Nothing like the fighter you are currently facing. He feels like a skeleton almost in comparison. Just really light. You can fuck him around. He's like, nothing to him, really. Okay.
00:37:55
Speaker
Robin's going to look at Alfa and then look at you and just say...

Confrontations and Tensions Arise

00:38:01
Speaker
Look at him, Helena. I am. Can you not see the damage he's caused? I don't dispute the damage that he's caused. Why should I not kill him now? Tell me one fucking reason, because we've just lost one of our parties!
00:38:27
Speaker
These are your kingdoms, your grace. If you decide that he is to die for his crimes, then that's fair enough, but I ask you... I ask you to finish what we've came here for, for first. Drago and Claude felt there was something in him worth saving. We should hear what they have to say before you make any decision, but
00:38:59
Speaker
you decide he's to die for his crimes. As I say, this is your kingdom and this is your decision. She's going to be shaking with anger as she holds his whatever he's wearing around his neck and then she's going to throw him to one side and she's going to storm off taking a few steps to the south back away from the tower
00:39:28
Speaker
and she's just going to try and get herself together emotionally. Castan, while this is up and going on, what's Castan been up to? He's not sure. He knows what he wants to say, something to interfere, but he doesn't think this is the time now. Going over to where Hannah's thrown him, Castan's going to get some rope from his pack, and I was going to bind Elphir's hands,
00:39:57
Speaker
So like if he's a prisoner, then Carson's going to bind his hands for now, and then obviously we can then deal with him what we need to do. And then, and then if Elton reacts, I'll respond to that. He's limp in your hands and just allows the rope to be placed around his wrists. He's not saying it, not making any eye contact. He looks dehydrated, looks ill, looks unwell.
00:40:24
Speaker
Robin without any saying anything is just going to walk up to Karsten and Elthir, pick Elthir up out of the dirt and just start to walk in in the direction back towards Drago and I see in the direction in which Helena is gone as well to the south. Walking beside Robin Karsten they were like perhaps if Elthir is still whatever he was or whatever perhaps a worse punishment is for him to live
00:40:55
Speaker
with what he's done. Is death not too quick for him? That might be something to talk to Helena about. Robin is in one of those situations where he just cannot process his emotions and he's just going to say almost numbly, these are Helena's lands, these are her people who have died. He'll glance at Elfie and then just say,
00:41:26
Speaker
Her judgment will be the end of it. And he's just going to keep marching in towards the South. You walk for what feels like an eternity. Through the cooling, cleansing rain, the sun and colour in the sky, your legs are heavy, your brain tired, your eyes drooping as you walk, almost pulling your golem like Althea along with you at the end of a string.
00:41:54
Speaker
I'll be behind him, supporting him all on his back. I thought you'd just categorise Sheldon. No, it's a... I've basically picked him up off his feet. I'm allowing him some dignity because he even... He remembers Elf his pride and his...
00:42:09
Speaker
pride in his past and where he was from, and if he's going to, if he's walking to the gallows he will walk to it rather than be dragged to it, if any of the old elf here is in there, and he's just going to walk him down to where Drago and Heron are in that direction.

Journey Home with Their Fallen

00:42:23
Speaker
And finally, what feels like an age past is the sun high in the sky, rain still pouring down, you come across remnants of the living.
00:42:32
Speaker
Soldiers on the side who lift a flask to you or nod a head as you walk past them. Single soldiers battered, bruised, many nursing injuries, many groaning in pain, many dying. And then you see a single figure approaching on horseback, sits tall, proud, draped across the back seems to be another body.
00:42:56
Speaker
as you see the figure of a trotting horse.
00:43:18
Speaker
a series of bodies stacked up on this horse and across the front of, in front of Drago, you just go, you know, let you do it. Okay, so if the horse, I think it is, had made its way back. It's just a badger, we found it. It's a random horse. No, it's your horse. Brood. It's a brood. It's a brood.
00:43:44
Speaker
You did your Gandalf call for Shadowfax and he returned. King of the horses. So I feel like Shrago would have been at a loss of what to do for the first time in his life and he would have heard this.
00:44:00
Speaker
of this horse coming out of this mist as he sees brood clip-clopping, as we've said before, towards him. There would have been just a pure breath of relief expelled from him as he
00:44:16
Speaker
Claps Lucian down on the shoulder and just goes, I'm gonna be okay. I'm gonna make it Brood and his brood comes over Drag I would have stopped him I'm gonna do the best way possible Lucian and just try and muster the strength to lift him up on to broad brood strap him down He uses his one good arm to kind of put himself up and moans in pain as he does it but gets himself up and then
00:44:43
Speaker
Drago would have reassessed what he's got, so Dengon's deception would be behind him. Claude's shield, is there a name for that? Bastion. Bastion would be tightly strapped against Drago's arm, giving him free reign over both hands, and Drago would have secured Lucian and then looked at the body of one of his own, and he would take the reigns of rude walkover to Claude.
00:45:11
Speaker
We will find a respectful place for you, my friend. And lift him up. And, um, Jago gets onbrood, and then...
00:45:20
Speaker
Once again, strength permitting, Paul's clawed up even if it takes a while bit by bit to where Claude's actually riding on brood in front of Drago. So you've got Lucian behind and then you've got Drago's hands on the reins and in between Drago's hands is Claude kind of sundown and he would have gone off towards the tower. So we've seen that figure, that silhouette approaching and
00:45:48
Speaker
probably looks quite odd to you noticing Claude kind of slumped there and a stoic looking drago and what seems like the remains of a body on the back of the horse and it comes into view drago i'll let you i'll let you describe what kind of happens what do you do when you get closer and you see your friends when you see three of your comrades so you see four of your friends
00:46:13
Speaker
Drago would just move through towards you. It sounds nice to be a proud soldier, but he would be noticeably shouldered down on one side, blood across. You don't know if it's his blood or Grazette blood, but he's covered in blood and sweat. And then as the horse fully forms in front of you and the image fully forms, you notice three distinct bodies. You'd see Claude
00:46:46
Speaker
You'd see Claude, and then you'd see Lucian at the back, and his eyes would
00:46:57
Speaker
out of coming out of a stupor like instead of just going with the the ride emotion once he sees you guys he shakes his head looks shakes his head looks and forces his eyes try and focus in on you all and he crosses each of you and you just see his face has almost a serene expression as he notices that there's people here that he loves and they're still alive
00:47:28
Speaker
Seeing Claude in front of Drago, Castan said I sort of like get out one of the health potions because Claude's set up so it doesn't go and then sort of run forward with the health potion. Saying quickly, pass me Claude and we can get him healed. No. We need to do it now. Castan, there's no healing him. He's gone. What do you mean?
00:47:59
Speaker
And Drago would steady brood and swing a leg over. And you can tell it's a heavy movement. Every movement he makes, it's heavy, it's laden. And he'll carefully take Claude into his arms. But Claude's quite heavy. And Drago's quite weak at the moment. So as Claude slips into each of Drago's arms, Drago goes back down to the floor, knees, and lays Claude on the ground. He's gone.
00:48:29
Speaker
Grazia. Grazia killed him. He didn't make it. But there has to be some kind of way, like the teddy bear or anything. I don't know. I saw his life go.
00:48:46
Speaker
going to rub it through Claude, kind of find a teddy bear and shove it into his arms. Helena, Lucian, he's alive. Yeah, Helena's knees have just buckled as you've just said that Claude's gone and then she notices that Lucian's on the back of your horse. So she's going to buckle up the strength and run over to Lucian, picking him up off the back of the horse to put him down onto the floor as well, assessing injuries and
00:49:12
Speaker
Seeing what she can do and he wins his eyes are open at this point as he gets as he kind of tries to Fuck what the fuck happened? Oh Trying to be the hero as always this yeah, I know what What should I do first? Tell me just look around Look around
00:49:40
Speaker
Yes, but we've also lost.
00:49:45
Speaker
Chargo is going to look up at Robin. Castan, you're with Claude, aren't you? Yeah. And look at you and you get a look of, oh, you're alive. He's going to look to the body you're carrying. He's next to me. I'm not carrying him. He's staying. He's stood next to me. So the final thing in front of you now
00:50:11
Speaker
of Robin and Elphir. Just like when you first met them in fact. Drago is going to look at Elphir into his eyes as deep as possible. Are you you? He's going to look directly back at you and this skeleton of an elf man, elf man, with a man that you once know and the tear rolls down his cheek and he just
00:50:41
Speaker
don't know. His gaze drops and he just drops to his knees and sobs quietly. Draghi's going to go over to him and also Draghi's going to kind of limp over to him and then he'll also drop to his knees and he'll put his both arms around Elthir, kind of hold him as he's sobbing. You seem you. I'm sorry for everything.
00:51:16
Speaker
He just continues to sob. His head kind of, you know, like when you cry so much, your head just kind of bobs up and don't make any noise. He's just doing that over and over again and kind of just rocking back and forth. He has no words. He just, he just sobs. As that happens, Jago is going to, cause he's in front of Robin now, he's going to look up at Robin. He's back. What have you done? He seems like healthier.
00:51:45
Speaker
Robin, still slightly crestfallen and shell-shocked, is just going to say, Folly did it. He's gone. Folly did it. Folly did it. He stabbed the book.
00:52:10
Speaker
as a recognition starts to pass through Drago. He saved everyone. He did. The play. It's done. It's done.
00:52:31
Speaker
potions or anything. Lucian, he's bleeding. No, no, I'm honestly fine. You've got no legs, brother. I'm not going to make a Monty Python joke, but honestly, someone else used it. You lot have saved us all. Or once you've found something, just anything, just to help him up. A little whisky would be lovely, actually, if you've got me. Car's head will produce rose bottles and perhaps some alcohol.
00:53:04
Speaker
Well, Helen, I'll take her helmet off. Is there anything on her like material-wise that she can sort of rip off to be able to tie up his legs and sort of stop bleeding and things like that? Yeah, you can make a tourniquet out of it. You've probably got some basic kind of satchel or pack, whatever you have, some basic materials you could use that with. Or indeed you could, under your armour, you would have had like some padded underlay to hold plate-mail armour anyway, which you could have ripped.
00:53:26
Speaker
Yeah, cool. Yeah, she's just going to rip off whatever she's got, sort of showing she can take off some plate armor and rip off that, tie it around the bottom of its legs to stop the bleeding. Yeah, absolutely. We're talking just below the knee. So it's kind of shin height that it cut through, which does seem to help. And the bleeding has already slowed for some magical means. Drago's lay on hands, but this helps him further in allowing the blood to start the clots and you can clean the wound and wounds.
00:53:55
Speaker
For later Fixing healing whatever you want to do. Yeah, and he kind of looks up and just just nods. Thanks I'm glad I'm glad you're all still here I'm glad some of you made it Drink drink this and drug is gonna give one of the two greater healing potions to elf here and
00:54:24
Speaker
He just holds it and wides it on and poses his arm down as it kind of almost looks.
00:54:32
Speaker
Thor's hammer style. No, it's in that Drago would have taken it off him and bit out the cork and literally tilted Elthea's head back. Robin would support Elthea's head as he sees what Drago was doing. And you just see him kind of choke cough through this as the tears continue to kind of pour down his face. As you look into his eyes and you can see the whites of his eyes and the colour of his eyes that were turned away from this black purple mist that consumed them for
00:55:02
Speaker
all these months and strength seems to return to him but he doesn't look at you he can't look at you he won't look at you and after consuming the potion you see a strength return to him

Healing and Redemption

00:55:14
Speaker
but he still stays on the ground sobbing i've got one more anyone anyone else looks over at the group great healing potion robin's okay i think i don't know robin would say to helena that helena you should drink this
00:55:34
Speaker
and she's just going to take it from you and just whack it back. How much health does she have now? It's 46. Oh, 44, sorry. Thank you. And then Helen is going to go over to Claude and Neil by his side, holding his head up. Sorry, what was that?
00:56:02
Speaker
Sorry, five, four, nine. Not very much, but sure. Here. Does Claude have a teddy bear on him? Many. Yes. Can I get one out and hold it in his arms? I'm going to put his arms around it. So he's holding it, press it through his chest. Did he do anything? I didn't enchant it anymore. Okay.
00:56:22
Speaker
The actor's there, though, and he, yeah, you can face the table. Okay, at that point, I'll then leave it. It looks like he's sleeping. Yeah. Does, like, tuck thunder is right in the, in the kind of pit of his right elbow, tucked there with his arms across his chest, looking rather peaceful. Yeah. No distinct damage to his, to his face that you can tell he's just seemed to have fallen asleep. You were a good friend, Claude. I hope you rest well.
00:56:49
Speaker
As Drago watches that beautiful image with the teddy, at this point, because he's already done the potion, he's just given Helena the other potion. He's left Elthir with Robin and as Drago gets up, he claps Robin on the shoulder.
00:57:09
Speaker
He goes and stands by you guys and also kneels next to Claude just watching what you're doing and just likes being in close proximity with Claude's body. Robin will head over, leaving Alfie Maimon terribly, and he'll just kneel next to Claude. And never knowing what to say to Claude, we'll just kneel next to him and rest a single hand on his shoulder. Thank you.
00:57:41
Speaker
He died saving me. I know. Cos that's dead. Miss Jago just weakly looks up at you all. We won.
00:58:07
Speaker
and slowly but surely as you look around you see soldier after soldier at the obsidianus approach. One in particular stands slightly taller than the others
00:58:22
Speaker
and I like glow seems to emanate from around him as he pulls his hammer off you see the battle weary tired gaunt face of Vance Vance Skullblade he looks at you all and without saying anything walks over to Claude and goes to help carry him I will carry him back to spirit mind redo where we can talk further about what you wish to do
00:58:54
Speaker
Where is your friend, the gnome? He didn't make it. Then we will carry his name, if we cannot carry him. Spend as much time as you want here. You will be heading south, and then back to base, if you are all more than welcome. Heroes of Sleepcart.
00:59:26
Speaker
emails and just gestures over to a few of the soldiers and kind of asking almost with your permission and then in a gesture, if they may help escort the body of Claude back. And if everyone was happy with that, they would have picked him up kind of onto the shoulder, proper military style, and started walking him back the soldiers slow, calm, but understanding of what you have just achieved, what you have done. This the rain
00:59:58
Speaker
No, I was just going to ask as the body of Claude kind of journeys off beyond this.
01:00:08
Speaker
Just kind of Drago looks around everyone and he's trying to get his strength back and his mind kind of clear with everything that's just going on. And he's just taking a moment to appreciate breathing and having his friends around him. He looks over to where the tower, what happened to the tower? Collapsed. Collapsed in on himself. Yeah.
01:00:39
Speaker
Just the rubble and the remains, probably the two large open doors you can see resting on it. It's probably all that remains. And just kind of shakes his head towards it as acknowledgement of what's preceded him. Robin will then say, in the quiet, we need to decide what to do with Elphir. Maybe that's a...
01:01:06
Speaker
Question for another day? Yeah. I don't know about you, but our emotions will be pretty high right now. You're not going anywhere. Robin will glance at Helena, who was intent on killing him a minute ago. And we'll look for what the reaction is. I've lost all of my fight. You do what you want.
01:01:35
Speaker
I will lead my people if that's what I need to do to move forward, but I feel that I'm dealing with a lot of sorrow and loss, and I think I'd like to process that as a priority. So, you want to save him, Robin? You do so. Probably will walk back over to Elf here.
01:01:59
Speaker
who withdraw goes Spain and he'll go to the rope that's currently bounded his hands and he will cut the ropes and look at Elphir and say, you have a chance Elphir, your life is long and by the grace of the people here who are willing to forgive you, you have a chance to put right what you've done wrong.
01:02:28
Speaker
For folly and court's sake, don't waste it. As he then shakes off his coat and walks back towards the rest of the party. Elva takes a moment and looks down at his now newly freed wrists.
01:02:49
Speaker
and watches them fall to the ground before looking up low over his eyebrows at you all like a a spurned dog if you will after you've just told it off but more sorrowful and then takes trepidatious steps in following keeping a distance not out of fear or suspicion or anything like nefarious just knowing he needs to be he needs to stay a few steps behind
01:03:19
Speaker
Helena will just turn to Robin on his way back on his return and just say to him, I don't mean any malice here Robin, but I just need you to know that if this comes back to bite you, if Elthea puts another toe out in line, I am holding you personally responsible. As you show your grace, I'll swing the sword myself. Good.
01:03:45
Speaker
Okay. Everyone, come on. Gather your things. Try and clear your mind as best as possible. Let's get out of here. We did it. By the grace of our friends. Come on. Come on.
01:04:08
Speaker
And Jhaga is going to step up and try and shake himself, prepared for following France. The rain stops and the sun remains. High in the sky, cloudless, warm with a cool breeze. You can hear leaves. You can hear life. You can hear nature. And hope. And opportunity.
01:04:42
Speaker
Did you slowly make your procession your way south? That's where we're gonna leave it. For this campaign. Fellowship.
01:05:01
Speaker
the tabletop I was gonna say make your role initiative from a very different personal personal level thank you all so much
01:05:16
Speaker
That was an epic. Oh my lord. Folly! Great job. The whole person, I didn't know where you were going. I kind of knew where it was. You know what I realised is, Folly took off his backpack and we sort of left it there. Well that's why... No, no, no. I did look at the tower. That's exactly because I was like, I've got my mate's axe, I've got my mate's shield, I've got my swords. The bag that none of us can lift is going to stay there, like sort of with the stone. Let's get my mate's bag. Now Folly's got the two months old and dusted with.
01:05:44
Speaker
So if you can't carry it all, it'd be... Well, no, the next person who picks it up, it tunes to them, they get the abilities. Oh my god, maybe that can be a key. There's like a sword in the stone after, kind of. Yeah, yeah. That was incredible. Just leave it to the next character that I'm making.
01:06:01
Speaker
to our listeners that have stayed with us and listened to everything. Man, there's some of you who have listened from episode one. God bless you all the way until now. We hope you enjoyed that poetic, beautiful ending and hopefully it was everything you wanted it to be and more. Certainly from my point of view, that was a lot more than I thought we'd get and that's down to Mark.
01:06:23
Speaker
and the players for my own personal point of view thank you to everyone here the cast members you guys are epic and amazing it takes a lot of work and effort to get this podcast out every single week with a i will i'll put myself out there with a good story and everyone steps up to the plate every time and from the bottom my heart i appreciate it and especially
01:06:43
Speaker
given the journey that the world has been on since we started recording this it has been definitely a cornerstone of light in my life so thank you all very much and i love you i love you all it's been fun it's been fun uh and on top of and on top of that there's nothing this goes ahead without you editing it and putting it together and keeping us all on track we all edit as well
01:07:04
Speaker
I know, but you are the taskmaster that keeps us in track. Setting us up every single time. Absolutely. And so without that, we'd lazily fall into the mist like many other podcasts do. So thank you too. Aw, thanks. It's been a pleasure. Thankfully, that's not the end of us, though, because we do have an epilogue planned where you can hear what happens to the characters

Epilogue and Farewell

01:07:24
Speaker
after this. We don't want to leave it on a down sombre note. We're going to leave it on a high, airy note, I hope, maybe. I don't know. We'll see where that goes. We haven't lost people.
01:07:32
Speaker
But tune in next week for the epilogue. Yep. Cool. You can hear what goes on afterwards. So you'll get one more chance to hear the adventures of
01:07:46
Speaker
our party. We never came up with a name. No, you never came up with a name. The Follies Fockers. Heroes of Clay Peak. That's what we were called. And then you went, we didn't say Clay Peak. You've just been called the Heroes of Sleepguard. Oh, there you go. So yeah, tune in next week to hear more to the final epilodic adventures of the Heroes of Sleepguard.
01:08:05
Speaker
Sleep guard. Sleep guard. Sleep guard. I'm knackered, absolutely knackered. If you wanted to keep up to... Danny, man, like your character. And Callum, like, guys. No, Claude went out. It was brilliant. Yeah, 100%. I did not see that coming. When you did the whole person, I was like...
01:08:29
Speaker
No idea what you're doing. I thought you were going to kick Elthea down at Spartacus. I did think that as well. I thought you were going to kill him in front of everyone. Actually, I was going to cast Disintegrate on him and just like, this is for Shader. And that Tali moment, oh my lord. I need that explaining a little bit. Was Tali always in Elthea and vice versa? Or was it just an act?
01:08:48
Speaker
The main part of Graza is that he is a shapeshifter, and so if Graza was sharing his innate capacity to shift shapes with Elfia, it was Elfia's, I saw it as Elfia's final ditch. He was very low on health, 38 health points left. It was his final ditch opportunity to try and sway not your body, but your mind. I probably saved his life. It stopped for a bit more. Absolutely. We've been action surge, four attacks. Yeah, you would have killed him. You would have killed him then. So that was his last ditch effort and actually did keep him, yeah, has kept him alive.
