Introduction and Welcome

00:00:00
Speaker
Nix was little bitch, he was not here in time. Oh, leave him alone, he was lovely!
00:00:22
Speaker
Hello, everyone, and welcome to this week's episode of The Fellowship at the Tabletop. Bellum Draconish. Draconish, apparently. Because it's not quite. We've got a slight sub-quest mission for you. We're going to go off with some friends and see what happens. Think of it like, well, I've literally no idea. Let's see what happens. We've got a couple of new additions to the table around us, the digital table this evening, afternoon, morning, whatever you're watching or listening.

Casey's Return and Life Update

00:00:48
Speaker
Firstly, welcome him back.
00:00:51
Speaker
After a long old time, I'm very pleased to say, returning to the table, we have Casey, who plays the halfling barbarian, Arnie. Hello, dearies! We've got Ian, the oldie, and the normal Ian, who plays a gnome rogue called Valbin Palebelt. Hello there. We've got James, who plays the fur-bolged monk, Lim Shorfoot.
00:01:14
Speaker
General Kenobi! Oh lord, here we go, Will! A different Will, Will Mark 2, who plays a dragonborn druid called Vasil Rogham. Stupid you are. We've got, returning again, one of our original OGs, Callum, who plays the gnome rogue Nimble Nim Shorfoot. I have a bad feeling about this.
00:01:37
Speaker
Hey guys, that's a lot of Star Wars coming up. That was all Star Wars. That was weird. Casey didn't do Star Wars. But hey, Case, welcome back. Case was too professional. We've missed you. We've really had to join the club. Yeah, I missed you too, guys. It's good to have you here. I had just had a baby. That's all. I mean, that's not just all. You can't just throw it out there. Well, no, it wasn't. Yeah. Yeah. That's where I was. Many congratulations, by the way. Thank you. You're a champ.
00:02:05
Speaker
She beautiful. A legend. And well, good to see you as well.
00:02:11
Speaker
Oh, thank you very much. It's been seven months. It's been a while, hasn't it? Right. Should we get into this craziness?

Planning the Heist on the Gerrymander

00:02:17
Speaker
Hail to yeet. Why not? So for those of you who have been listening for the last couple of weeks, you'll re-remember, re-remember, remember that Nix had spoken to a few members of his crew by sending a message about a possible job given to him by Tristan Green, something rather, green eye, green finger, green knob.
00:02:36
Speaker
something and something was breathing away and he said he had a mission, a job, a secret, a morally corrupt mission to heist some silks on a ship off the coast. We're fast forwarding a little bit of time and we're fast forwarding a little bit of action to bring us tonight, two nights I should say, a light film of rain and we find ourselves in the ocean
00:03:02
Speaker
on a large, maybe 30-40 foot long rowing boat with an old haggard man in the middle rowing and chatting away. Off in the distance you can see three ships, a large three-storey vessel in the middle with a number of torches lighting its exterior and two smaller, faster boats, one flanking either side. No lights are upon them. All sails are furled and anchors are down on all three.
00:03:28
Speaker
The ocean is choppy. You look back and see, far in the distance now, hidden by a shroud of cloud and fog, the port of Goldview, where your ship, crewmates of the Esmeralda, your ship sits docked, somehow untouched, untarnished, unburnt by the dragon attack that happened not a few days ago. On the command of your captain,
00:03:53
Speaker
You set sail in your small boat to intercept and to steal. Nay to borrow, nay to heist. Four crates of silk from the boat known as the gerrymander, along with anything else you can lay your dirty grubby hands on, so sayeth your captain.
00:04:16
Speaker
You're all sat around at different areas around the boat. We'll introduce you just in a second, but firstly to lead you through the jovialities of this adventure. I firstly want to introduce you to an old man who sits in the center, dark brown skin, but very gray eyebrows and goatee. He sits wearing a, what looks like used to be a white shirt, but it's now brown with age. He has sinewy muscly arms and he rose hard looking at each of you in the eye as he looks from person to person.
00:04:47
Speaker
Okay, do it, come on. Sensible. You got this. You got this. I love it already. Be the character. I haven't started yet. Well, hi, hi, my fellas. We've got ourselves some some some ships with some goods I need to take. This here one, and he points the ship in the middle, in the middle, this is the gerrymander filling up to the forehead with all the golds and the skillers of the kingdom.
00:05:16
Speaker
I've been doing the watching. I've been doing the looking. Oh, and I've been doing the seeing of the ships. They done got some skills on our next friend, but we got to take them crinkles. Oh, I've given myself cramp. He looks at you each very, very serious as he continues to half row hornched over. They done got some gods. They done got some civvies.
00:05:45
Speaker
They done got some mercenaries on board with them ships. They done got two ships that we need to get past before we get to the booties. They got some ships with some mercenaries near the gerrymander. They ain't no grab them for old fellas thrown the third here, no three. We gone glide past them without so much as a whisper and get you locked to the gerrymander.
00:06:14
Speaker
I don't forgot the plan that Kep told me to path on to you though here. Takes my map and he hands over a disregarded piece of paper that has broken down in inordinate detail, three layers of the gerrymander ship complete with walls, possible routes of trajectories of walking, possible traps, locations of treasure, literally everything. Literally it looks like a roll 20 map. It's incredible.
00:06:42
Speaker
Takes my map and have a nice day. Little old me will stay holding it toad and here in our little boat as I wait for you to come back. Now, the sniff I got from Dralak has fried my brains. I don't know my gringle from my forney.

Character Roles and Banter

00:06:58
Speaker
How about we do a little around the merry? I better pass your fisherman. I better-
00:07:05
Speaker
How better who is your daddy? What I mean to say is, how about you tell me who you are before I pass out? We got some time before I get there. I'm a slow rower. And he looks firstly over to Casey, to your character, and points out a finger. Why don't you tell us a little bit about what's going on over here? What do you want to know, dearie? I mean, I am who I am. Do you not see me?
00:07:32
Speaker
Well, I can just make you out through the thin film of fog that fall over your gorgeous face there. But for the listener case, maybe you could tell us what our grinkleberry is looking at.
00:07:45
Speaker
Oh, that's so nice of you to say about my skin. I rub lard on my face every morning. Do you know, not lots of people use lard, but I do because I just found it, it makes your skin so moisturised and so hydrated. You know what, lots of people use this stuff that you can buy in the shops, but I just swear by it. You should try it. You're looking a little bit, I've got some crow's feet just by the side of your eyes there.
00:08:11
Speaker
I don't think I slept in about 16 days. But why would the captain invite you on this here journey, young old lady, given that you're an intolerable age? Well, this is the old. My name's Lydia. You can call me Aunt Lydia, everybody else does, don't they? Isn't that right? And she sort of looks over at all the other chaps on the ship. Aye? She turns round with a quite gummy smile.
00:08:41
Speaker
What else do you like to know? I cook, I clean, I do everything, I'm the like dog's buddy on here. Nobody trusts me with a weapon and she's, she pats the great axe on her back. Well that's quite a hefty instrument you got back there. And don't I know how to use it? That, good for you lady. I'm very happy to have you on board my little, little filly strong the third. Yep. You sir.
00:09:10
Speaker
You look familiar, but like I said, my brain is fried, and he's looking towards to Will, or he looks up towards Will and your character. Okay, so what you would see is this hulking dragonborn figure, kind of dark, shimmering blue scales, with kind of bronze horns, if you like, down the back as well. He's got two big horns that frame his face, most notably about him.
00:09:39
Speaker
is the fact that he's not actually wearing many clothes, by which I mean he has a single set of tighty wisies protecting his modesty. They are off white, they're not of a good color and he has most notably as well just a necklace of what looks like an oyster shell around his neck and down beside him he's got this
00:10:03
Speaker
hulking grey tax as well looking over at the moment he's just kind of bobbing up and down with the waves I suppose not really paying too much mind as I imagine he'd look up to did you say grinkleberry I've given you two different names two different names so far I'm gonna keep changing we don't know it's gringle from a thorny
00:10:34
Speaker
I think he'll just kind of look up and go. Yes, well, we're obviously going to need people of muscle on this kind of thing. I have strength of the bear. I have eyes of the hawk. I am stealthy like octopus in water. You need some help. You come to me, Vasio. I help you.
00:10:56
Speaker
Well we gonna need some muscle to fly past them mercenaries when we get a bit closer Dragonborn, so good thing we got me. And he looks behind him, what about these two hoke in my chokens behind me here? And he looks back towards Kalim and James, but what did they look at who we have in the back of the boat here maybe?
00:11:20
Speaker
Alright, I guess I'll go first. So the taller of the duo has a almost bioluminescent light blue skin, which is kind of similar to his eye color as well, which is catching even through the fog. He has a pair of
00:11:38
Speaker
almost greyish white mutton chops which then go into the full handlebar mustache. His clothing, while thick, seems quite elaborate. Quite, you know, accepting for like an entertainer sort with like frilled sleeves and like very acrobatic, relaxed boots and leg wear. As he looks over to the one sat next to him and goes like, well, I am one half of the famous
00:12:12
Speaker
Well, I am one half of the three falling halflings. You can call me Lim. Limbert Shortfoot. In this heart, this is my big brother. Hello there. I be Nimble Nim Shortfoot.
00:12:28
Speaker
The other half, the more handsome, dashing and devilish. He is nearly handsome, don't you think? Thank you, little brother. And what you see as this communication is going off is a small halfling. He's got
00:12:43
Speaker
A blonde goatee and very ragged blonde hair is wearing a very very tight fitting waistcoat and trousers just in a very deep rich brown but he's got a bandolier of daggers that is just going across his chest as well as a couple of daggers just positioned by his side. There's not been a lockpick, a safe
00:13:10
Speaker
or a woman that I haven't been able to get inside of sometime. Haha! Well, that's just... That's no problem for... I've got no words. That's okay. We have this effect on the people we're around. We are quite entertaining.
00:13:29
Speaker
I think the crystal of Ruth, my brain. And he turns finally to Ian, to your character who sits, I imagine, just off to the side from these two brothers. Are you there, Thor? What's your job?
00:13:46
Speaker
Hey, I'm Val Ben Pale Belt. I am a gnome aged 56. I'm the master gunner on the ship. If you look at me, you see tattered loose clothes, a short repair on my belt, a short bow across my back. I got some tatty boots and some pale skin. I got ginger hair, a ginger toolbar mustache, and a ginger mohawk, slightly graying at the edges.
00:14:14
Speaker
Well that's just fantastic. Thank you. It's so lovely to properly meet you all. Now listen my fellas, we're getting a bit closer now and like I said, I ain't got no memories of giving me from the captain about what the mission is or how we're gonna do it. All I know is that there's some silks on board and you're gonna need to get them. Oh.
00:14:38
Speaker
One more thing that I did remember that's just entered into my brain. Make you careful, cos if they lower them sails, the little ships full of the most sanitarys are gonna come a-rowin' and they'll make you bleed from your scums. Do you have any questions? I'm sorry, I actually didn't hear that last bit. What about the sails? Might I'm a bit deaf in one ear?
00:15:03
Speaker
If on the main, if you go to the gerrymander and you get on board and you hoot some hooting and they find you there, they're going to lower the sails and that's a signal to the other ships to come running and make your bleed from your scuns. From your guns? Scuns.
00:15:24
Speaker
All right, we're good to go then, my fellow grinkles. So let's get on the ship and make some ceiling of some cargo, get some silks up all up in here, and we're going to take them out. Listen, I'm doing the lift point. I can't help it too. Sorry, that was already answered. Sorry, you don't actually know where the silks are.
00:15:51
Speaker
I know exactly where them keep them tilks. Would you like to know? Well, if you look here on this here map, if you go to the top, which is the bottom, which makes perfect sense in my head, at the back side of the boat, whoopsie, you will see a couple of boxes that are
00:16:09
Speaker
that I highlighted for your convenience them four boxes of the boxes of the silks that's very hard to say without spin you get them boxes of silks and then you take what you like and the rest as they say is for you to take yourself
00:16:29
Speaker
Wait, is that on the second one? The middle one? No, he points to the top one. No, like I said, the bottom one. The bottom one up here. That one. Oh, right, I've got you, I've got you. I can see them now. Think of it like this. The top is the bottom and the bottom is the top and the middle, well, it always stays the middle. The middle's the lucky one. That's very strange. That's not how we used to do it in the orphanage.
00:16:55
Speaker
What you get up to in an orphanage is what you get up to in an orphanage. How close are we to the ship? We're about 10 minutes of hard rowing. And you know what? So that I can focus, I'm not going to talk anymore. I'm just going to row. So if you want to wrinkle and talk about a plan, you can talk about a plan. But I'm going to just concentrate on making a row. Would you mind me to row instead? I could probably do a better job. He's already rowing. He's dead to the world. What a fucker.
00:17:27
Speaker
Vasil, you're the quartermaster. What do you think we should do? Well, I have the best eyes. So I could see the boat. And if I could see the treasure on the boat, I could let you know. Now, I have strength of bear. I have climbing ability of monkey, like big monkey. I could jump into water and swim very fast. So maybe you use me as some sort of utility.
00:17:57
Speaker
I'll be honest. I don't entirely know. Well, it sounds like you can do this whole fucking read on your own. You want to stay on the boat? That's fine. I'll go by myself. I could take them all. No, we'll come with you. We'll come with you. It's times like this. It's times like this. I wish that Nix was here. If you don't mind me saying. Nix was little bitch. He was not here in time. Leave him alone. He was lovely.
00:18:24
Speaker
We don't need him. I used to wash his tidy weighties, never mind yours.
00:18:28
Speaker
Well, these don't need washing. I've got spurs and he'll reach down, hold a basacho that you can just see is just filled to the brim with more tighty whities. Are they all off colour as well? They are varying states of decay, yes. We may be able to find you some more tighty whities in the ship over there that we're going to... No, I do not need them. They are not off much use. They just protect bodies. Maybe not the tighties, maybe some other colour. Well, silks apparently.
00:18:58
Speaker
Well, I'm not wearing them to look nice. I'm wearing them because, you know, if they break, then it's just tighty white. I think you look very nice. I was very kind. I do work on my butt muscles, but top of my tail muscles. I see you early in the morning. You're always doing your butt press. I see it too. I mean, I call it the butt press. I've been meaning to ask you.
00:19:24
Speaker
I'm too shy to come over and to join you in your butt press, but maybe tomorrow morning, all being well, me and you can do some butt presses together. Listen, I think we're getting distracted here. Well, I don't know. Think about what we're getting on the boat. Well, OK, Lim, how do you feel we should go about getting this treasure?
00:19:48
Speaker
Well, like me and my big brother here, we have to work as a team. Distraction, get in there. Get out before they even know we've even got on there. You know what I mean, haha, right? I know what you mean. Okay, then you could clue us in. I mean, if you guys are quite sexy, then you may as well just, you know, shimmy up the pipes or something. I give them a 5 out of 10 for Dex Appeal. Hang on, my Dex Appeal's a lot higher than that. You know that more than most.
00:20:19
Speaker
or six or seven. I feel like we're getting closer to a plan, but we're not quite there. By the time this is over, it's going to be a 10. Trust me. Okay. How about in the first instance, we need to get on board that ship. Okay. I'll ship me up there. I'll chuck a rope down for you. You guys get on board. We can't do anything until we gauge where we got to go.
00:20:39
Speaker
We don't know until we see it. We need to get everybody on board first. We gotta go on the bottom deck. Right, well if anybody else is quite good at knocking some shit out of anybody, that'll be great, because I probably need a bit of support here. I tell you what, we stop them raising sell. They raise sell, more people come. We don't want this. So if you do the shimmy shimmy, you stop the sell.
00:21:01
Speaker
Then we're in for good time. No, no. The sail is up. We don't want the sail to go down. If the sail goes down, then trouble comes. We need to keep the sail up. Now I'm confused. It's the sail up at the moment. I'm going to take a look. The sail is up at the moment. It's up at the fucking moment. Can you not see? Your blind is apart. We need to keep the sail up. You make a good point though. Maybe we could... We could sail or charge it. Make it so that they can't move it down if necessary.
00:21:29
Speaker
Surely if we saber charge it though, that means the sail will come down. Not if we tie it to the mast instead of leaving it on the pulleys. Not break it. But when you're breaking something, no, when you're breaking something that's suspended, naturally gravity will bring it down. But this way you can saber touch. You shimmy shimmy. Tie it to the crow's nest. It'll never come down. It will still flap though, yes? Because I believe the flap is the thing that... It'll still flap. It'll still flap. It's fine.
00:21:59
Speaker
Limb can take care of that. Limb can take care of that. Don't worry. I have special tricks. They'll love it. It'll help us get onto the ship. No worries. Okay, plan. You do the sail. Old lady, you say you do the... That's what I said. And lady, what do you do with the boat? What is your plan?
00:22:22
Speaker
I'm gonna knock some shit out of some people. You just fling me up there and I'll just, you know, kiggle a bitch. I think you could throw her, actually. Vasil, you are very strong. I do have the muscles. I'd probably weigh about 200 pounds, I don't know. I think between all of us we could... One, two, hoof! Hoof? Yeah, that's the noise. I'd like that. I ain't hoofing no old lady. I told you less of the old. I ain't hoofing no lady. My apologies, madam. Thank you.
00:22:52
Speaker
No, I love you, big brother, but please do not insult your elders, OK? I've got nothing but respect for the lady. Are you trying to have sex with the old lady? How does this work? I mean, there's not many ladies on board, to be fair. No, I do miss my Brian, to be honest with you. I'll take anything as it stands.
00:23:13
Speaker
I'll keep that in mind when we're done here, but okay. That means me, big brother, and lady, if we get the deck, if we take control, then you'll... If you get the deck, I'll get the deck. If you get my drift. Oh, aye. I think we had some sort of plan. It sounds like... No, we don't. We'll do the next. It looks like... Who's the first to get on board the ship?
00:23:39
Speaker
That'll be me. Trust me, I can get up there, no problems. Right. And then you're going to throw down a rope, and we're all going to shimmy up it. That's the plan so far. Okay, who's going next? Well, Vasil, are you gonna throw me? Of course, it'll be me. I follow my big brother. I think Vasil should throw Aunt Liddy. I can do this, and I can make distraction at the same time. That sounds good. Sounds very good. I have excellent plan. Oh, fuck.
00:24:10
Speaker
Okay. I like where this is going. Nim. Or Lim. One of you say yes. Yeah. Which one do you think it is? I don't know which one is which. Are you mixing up again? Come on, it's so simple. I'm Lim, he's Nim. So funny. I'm not Lim, he's Nim. Come on, it's so easy. How are you gonna get it? Yes. Are we going to die tonight? I think so.
00:24:40
Speaker
We'll be fine. I think the captain sent the wrong people. Nonsense. You've got the three falling halflings. We'll be fine. Right. So the three falling halflings, are you going up together or one? Nimgo is up by himself. I'll be fine. Nimgo, are you going second? I ain't going second, yes. Right. Vasil, you throw Antliddie. Duh. I will then just
00:25:08
Speaker
piggyback onto you and you can climb up this is option yes i like but what happens when we reach the top and there's all the people there we win okay we've got for seal he'll be fine throw him overboard for seal are we looking to what sorry what i mean is are we looking to stealth or are we just going to
00:25:35
Speaker
Yeah, Avast, you motherfuckers! Listen, I can't do much else. I'm not very stealthy, so I'll just... Avast, motherfuckers! Okay. Yeah. I think it's Avast, motherfuckers. Avast still has plans. Okay, we've got two little stealthy tiny weeny ones. They do the sail, they also do the sneak, and they go down and they find the treasure that we look for, yes? So they are like the sneaky ones.
00:25:58
Speaker
And then you've got the big people like me, Vasil. I stand on the deck. I make sure no one kind of fucks with us. We also have an old lady. She's on the deck with me. I'll be honest with you. I'm not entirely sure about what you do. Well, yes. Sorry, I was enamored.
00:26:22
Speaker
I'm very stealthy, so I could go down to the deck below and... and... reconnaissance. Are we not on the top deck? We're definitely on the top one or the bottom. I'm fucking confused again. The top deck seems to be where the battleground will be, and then the bottom deck, which is where the treasure is, or the silt, as it were. Right, the silt's okay.
00:26:38
Speaker
It seems like Vasil's saying that that should be where the stealthy people go while you guys create a distraction. And we go and steal the silks and take them back to the boat and see if what else we can pillage. Yes, that makes sense. So we have a loose plan. Okay, we made the plan. It's fine. We made the plan. We'll execute the plan.
00:27:02
Speaker
That's the next step. It's foolproof. We will execute. Have we got any sea shanties to be singing on the way? I always enjoyed the sea shanties. Perhaps we not make too much noise. They might hear a tongue. Sir, sir has got such a beautiful voice. I wish we was here. Okay. He is very beautiful. If plan goes terribly wrong, then old lady and I will do the killing on the top. That's what I said.
00:27:30
Speaker
I'm going to have your balls if you carry on. Like dragon balls? Yes. That sounds like invitation that maybe I do have to deep butt press in the morning, but we'll get to that later. If plan goes horribly long, we're not doing the running, we're doing the fighting, yes? Yes. Yes. Then you can get a whole bear or wolf or whatever, what do you do?
00:27:59
Speaker
You're going to see some weird shit. You've seen Vasil fight many times. You know he's one of the strongest. He is the quartermaster after all. Oh yes. I have been saving something big. Yes.

Finalizing the Heist Plan

00:28:13
Speaker
I have new trick up my sleeve. Saved just for tonight. For the house. I can't wait to see it.
00:28:20
Speaker
Well afterwards afterwards I've got some lovely student dumplings for us okay so that's all in a backpack. Oh yum! Well that's more of a reason to get this done quickly come on let's do it. I love ant ladies dumplings. I've masturbated. Do what you do.
00:28:39
Speaker
Nice. Phyllis from the fair is starting to sweat slightly through the perspiring rain. Phyllis, what do you think of our plan? I think I was not listening to your plan at all, so I have no recollection about what you just said you were going to do. Sorry, I talk over you. I want to say, are you going to stay nearby with the boat or do we have to signal to you what is your plan?
00:29:03
Speaker
where I'm gonna be where you need me to be and I will be on the boat I will leave the boat where you tell me to leave it where we are where we are that's where I'll be but just a little a little and be a little quick mention e.g. asterisks in the margin so to speak something you ought to know about what's happened on the ship when you go down the stairs from the deck you're in the sleeping quotas where there's many a hammock lion and many a people sleeping
00:29:32
Speaker
You might want to be extra sneaky and make it quiet when you go past them if you know what I mean. Plus... It's perfect. We need our stealthiest people to go in there. You. I was just going to say that as well. One thing I should also mention as Rick's in the margin, one final thing before I stop speaking for a while, is that if you look on the middle map and he points to the middle map, the southern door to the sleeping quarters,
00:30:00
Speaker
if you were maybe to, if you see these small rooms just next to it, and he points to three small rooms in the middle, each with a door to the south, each with a person in it, these three are some of the meanest, greenest fighters out of all the places of the eleven kingdoms you can find, you probably don't want to fight them in particular, but if you block this door, and he points to the southern door of that area, with something or something else, you know what I mean,
00:30:30
Speaker
then they can't get out and you can't get in if you if you take my pickle no that sounds like a really good plan why didn't you mention that before because finally the crack is way off people are sleeping and we can't we can't make noises right no we we have to eat their pickles this is what you say listen old lady you're not getting and lady and we're not eating pickles what are you talking about
00:30:59
Speaker
I'm not in control of anything or what you do or what you say, but I'm just letting you know the way it goes. When you go down the stairs, that's when the people are sleeping. So just be extra hush, hush when you walk, walk. That sounds like we're doing the usual Esmeralda way, which is make it up as we go along. I think the captains would be pleased. If we can get those silks, then yes.
00:31:29
Speaker
So just a reminder about what y'all need to get that I remember from the conversation now that I'm starting to sober up after that stuff with Draddock is well and off. You need to get the crates of the silks, the four of them for 565 sweet, sweet golden pieces and there anything else you want to grab.
00:31:50
Speaker
up to in excess of, I think the DM said, 3,000 gold pieces on the bottom deck. Pick up what you like, and that's all yours, baby. Right, so just between us then, who's going down the bottom deck? If there's any self, then there's a couple of us that could do. I have many tricks up my sleeve. I might be useful. I have more tricks. Let's just stay up top.
00:32:20
Speaker
Yes, I have at least one more trick up my sleeve than little Nan over here. Probably two more tricks and two more sleeves. You guys stay up deck. Val, you go down. I'll join you when I've sorted out the mast. Sail, ship, that, yeah. Forgive me, if you sort out the sail, I believe we should all stick together.
00:32:45
Speaker
Well, if you want, but I'll be up here all the time anyway. What? In your head? In my head, as always. Just as an FYI, I'm going to use my psychic whispers. Oh, he did actually mean his head. And what I'm doing for the next, oh, lovely, six hours.
00:33:06
Speaker
I can telepathically communicate through any kind of woods or whatnot. I'm going to be picking Will Hobbs and Ian or Valsil and Val, and they can communicate with me as well. So it's full telepathic communication that I can do. It's like a walkie-talkie.
00:33:32
Speaker
It's a little bit of an advanced technology, but yes. It's a bit of a one-way thing. Well, that ship looks like it's getting awfully close now. You're right. I think we're about... And the little rowing boat bobs into the side of it. I think we're almost there. And he looks up. Oh, wait. We are there. Yeah, please don't crash the boat into the ship.
00:33:59
Speaker
You're on the northern side of, he didn't tell us where to pull up, so he's just on the northern side of the boat and near the front starboard side of the ship. Bow. Are we off the port bow or off the starboard bow? Starboard. Yeah. Port's left, isn't it? Yeah. Port's left, then you're off the starboard's right. Then you're off the starbing side.

Executing the Heist

00:34:23
Speaker
If you look up there and he points up to the ship, that's here, the ship. That's the gerrymander. You go, go get some boys. Slap on the butt. Only metaphorical. That's disappointing. And then he's going to like an NPC just kind of shut down. You can't, you know, you can no longer interact with the NPC. We send this sneaky, sneaky first. You do the sale. We follow.
00:34:51
Speaker
Not right, big brother. You know what to do. Leave it with me. I'll be back in a second. Is there anything around us where I can actually climb up or is it just...
00:35:02
Speaker
or wood, flat wood on the side at the moment. It's all wood. There is a series of rope, rope rigging on the side of the ship at that height that would usually be used to contain and hold barrels, empty barrels over the starboard side of the ship, but they empty at the moment. And so it does leave you perfect rigging almost for you to climb up. And if you give me an athletics check or an acrobatics check with advantage, please. I will go for acrobatics then. Then acrobatize yourself up with advantage.
00:35:34
Speaker
24. Yeah, I mean it was 10 to pass. So yeah, I think you passed. Even my fail, my level one passed. Yeah exactly.
00:35:42
Speaker
Yes, so you managed to climb up it dexterously, you're going straight up to the top and jumping in on and jumping over. What's your plan? I'm going to climb up into the rigging and then I'm going to reach into my little toolkit. I'm going to pull out just a little bit of a mirror on a stick and I'm just going to poke it up slightly above the deck and I'm just going to give it a quick look around and just see where the guys are, if there's any on deck that I can actually see.
00:36:06
Speaker
okay as you notice as you move the mirror from left to right you notice at the very front of the boat uh the not the aft the opposite i should learn nautical terms what are the what the hell the front of the boat helm helm the helm of the boat the bow is the front bow the bow bow the stern is the back bow the bow of the ship or the front of the ship um is another set of doors there's like a lower section than two higher sections on either end of the boat and the um
00:36:34
Speaker
stern of the ship, no bow of the ship, there are a set of double doors which you know is where most of the navigation takes place. You know that there are at least two people inside there. The doors are shut and the windows are drawn shut as well. As you slowly turn the mirror around looking around the deck, it is almost empty safe form on the far
00:36:52
Speaker
The back left portion of the lower part of the ship, there are two individuals who seem to be fixing or jiggering around with one of the small rowboats that hangs off to the back. Their backs are to you.
00:37:08
Speaker
There is no one else on the deck apart from those two. They're back to two. They're very involved in their work. They're holding a torch nearby to light them as they seem to fix or cut through some wood to repair one of the small rowing boats to the port side of the ship. So there's no one that can see your mirror at the moment. That's fine. I'm just going to quickly telepathically communicate with Valsal and Val, saying two guys to the rear of the ship, back to two orders. They seem a bit distracted. Keep it quiet.
00:37:37
Speaker
And then I'm going to clamber over to the top of the ship, still being as quiet as what I possibly can do. And I basically just want to cut the rigging a little bit just so it falls down so they've got a little bit more of a room to grab onto. As long as it's not going to obviously come away from the ship. So I imagine it's like circled over if barrels and whatnot are normally kept into it. So I'm just kind of cutting it a little bit so it flops out.
00:38:00
Speaker
Well, could you first give me a, this is going to be just an overall for now. It's not going to be for this one event. It's kind of like how I like to run stealth worlds. Just a stealth check, please. I can do. Generalized stealth check. 15. Lovely, thank you. So you managed to lean back over and cut a few bits of the rigging, which allows it to fall a bit more slack, making it easier to climb up. It's not so taught to the hull of the ship now. Yes, that's taken place. Lovely.
00:38:29
Speaker
so after i've done it i'll just send him another message saying come on come on get a move on let's go sorry come on come on get a move on let's go uh lim will turn to the other two and he'll just like go double thumbs up he says he's good hey are you ready yep i forget are you have you already gone up he hasn't gone up yet but he obviously can't he doesn't have the voice in his head it's only youtube
00:38:54
Speaker
So that's great. Yes, it's very good. Off you go. You can go. He just nods enthusiastically and starts to clamber up. Okay. Could you give me an athletic check with advantage, please? Can I do acrobatics? Yeah, of course. Yeah, sorry. One or the other. DC's lowered slightly because of the help that your brother has given you to the rigging. Did you say with advantage? Yes, please.
00:39:17
Speaker
Two bad rolls to start with. That's a nine. They were both a nine. If Callum hadn't cut the rigging to make it easier, that would have failed. It is a nine to pass, so meat to beat. That could have ended very badly. You start climbing up and actually the cut pieces are getting away slightly. The cold sea water
00:39:40
Speaker
sticks to the ropes and the mould and milled you upon them makes your hands slip and it just so happens that your left foot gets stuck in the rigging and hold you there just half a second longer for you to grab back on with your hands and continue to climb up slightly sheepishly but you do make it up without any problems. Have you been drinking?
00:40:01
Speaker
It's too sticky, the seawater. Right, I'll get into position. And as he gets onto the deck, and he's going to use part of his Furbolg magic, and he's going to use a hidden step. And suddenly, as you see this pretty bulky, pretty tall Furbolg, just gone as he disappears. Until the start of his next turn, he is completely invisible. Ooh, that's really cool. And as he does that, he moves into position.
00:40:30
Speaker
Close to those two guys are our observers. Okay, could you give me a stealth check with advantage, please, given that you are... Yes, we can. I don't know what the odds are. I rolled a 12. Twice!
00:40:49
Speaker
Wow, that's similar twice, twice. Yeah, that's fine, that's absolutely fine. You managed to get into position and you can hear them now. No, no, don't put a bit of wood there, put it over there. Oh, come on mate, back off, I know what to do with some wood. Yeah, you bit. And they're just kind of bickering back and forth about how to fix this Rome boat and paying no attention to you. So you two are up there doing that. The other three that are down on the boat at the moment, are you guys, is the plan, is you're staying there or what's going on with you guys?
00:41:17
Speaker
I think it's time for you to throw her. Aye, I can stand, stand open legs, closed legs, what do you like? You want me to just throw you straight onto deck or we do stealthy stealth? Well, you could go stealthy stealth, but I'm ready to whack this great act into someone's neck. Okay, you need to clench your buttocks on three. One, two,
00:41:45
Speaker
I'm going to shut up. I'm going to try and throw out my Aunt Liddy from where I am, up under the deck. I don't know how it's going to go.
00:42:04
Speaker
Right. Oh my Christ, you're strong! What I'm going to need is an athletics check from you, Vasil, to start with. Let's just start with that and see what happens. Come on for a crit. I've never wanted a crit more than in my life. It's rolling.
00:42:31
Speaker
It's a 15. OK, OK. Remember, we are level three, four level three. So, you know, they're really believable. The ship isn't too high up and it's a solid base and actually you and she's got the height. She's up, up, up. And I feel like she goes directly like a bullet straight up in one straight line. And Aunt Liddy, can I ask please for you to make a acrobatics check, please, to see how graceful a landing you can stick.
00:43:02
Speaker
You're just going to see Nim there going, oh shit. Ooh, okay. That's a 17. Hey, beautiful. I imagine it's like a superhero landing. One knee, one foot, one hand. Black Widow. Black Widow, yeah. Yeah. Or the other hand, maybe on the gray axe on the back about to draw it. Yeah, her dirty white apron is sort of like just caressing the floor.
00:43:27
Speaker
And with you up there now, just so I've got an overall, like I've done the other two, now that you're up there, could I just get a generalised stealth check from you, please, Casey, for Aunt Liddy? It won't naturally impact what you're doing right now, but if it's awful, it might impact something later on. I think they're more interesting than just making you do a straight roll for her. That's a 12.
00:43:47
Speaker
Thank you. You're not up on deck and you can see next to you the figure of of Nimble Nim Shorford. So next to you, but no sign of Lim Shorford. He seems to have disappeared from sight. Is there anything you want to do while you're up on deck before we pass back down to the other two boys down? I'll just give him a wink. Oh, lovely. I have five. And passing on quickly back down towards where Valben, Valben?
00:44:16
Speaker
Yeah, Valben. Is that it? Valben. Valben. Valben, both belts and where the seal Rohan are who are still currently on the boat after a dexterous and incredible athletic feat of throwing a small human, well, not human. Well, are you a gnome? Your early morning buttocks worked out. Definitely works for you. That is very good. Thank you. And I'll kiss the biceps.
00:44:45
Speaker
Now I'm going to climb on your back. Oh, that was a joke. Okay, climb aboard. Don't touch detail. Okay. Here we go. And I'll go ahead and climb up. And given that you've got him on your back. I'm like Grogu, just on your back there.
00:45:07
Speaker
is a gnome but he's still a bit of added weight so let's instead of with advantage we'll just have a straight um athletics or acrobatic role um please that's a 23 oh yeah it's like a rocky montage oh it's like uh luke with yoda on his back in um the original trilogy it's looking gorgeous
00:45:28
Speaker
all the way up as you get yourself up. So while that's been happening and you're climbing up, James, a limb sure foot has come back into view again as you're...
00:45:40
Speaker
Furbog skill only lasts for six seconds. That wears off. You're still behind them. You're still, they're still not paying any attention to you. All this kind of happens at the same time. The last thing to appear before you appear into position, sorry, appear again, Lim Shorford, is that Vasil and his backpack, otherwise known as Valve and Pale Belt, appear on the deck of the gerrymander. We're now all on the deck. What the next move gon' be.
00:46:13
Speaker
I think Nim would just communicate again with Vasil and Valven. Firstly to Vasil just saying that Limb's over near the two guys. Probably see him now. No longer invisible.
00:46:30
Speaker
You guys stay up here. As they look over, he's like pointing at the closest guy and then doing like the little choking motion with his hands. How many guys on the ship, sorry? On the top? There are two. We can see two. We should just... and Valben's gonna make a snapping neck motion. Quiet them.
00:46:56
Speaker
Not death. We could KO them. They're merchant vesselers. They're not pirates. But we could just knock them out and have the whole of the top to ourselves.
00:47:07
Speaker
I can make a gesture to Limb, just where he's like wrapped, kind of puts his arm up and then wraps it round. Maybe we should have two people there, rather than just KOing one for then the other person to turn round and go, oh, what happened here?
00:47:27
Speaker
Maybe it's too advanced. I am getting to it, but I'm just describing that and then obviously pointing to Vassil to go over as well and do the same. Lim looks back a little bit more confused as he then shakes his head and does the slice across neck thing, like no kill. Yeah, he's going to see Nim there going, no, no, just crossing his hands back as well. He follows that with nothing enthusiastically and give it like two thumbs up.
00:47:58
Speaker
Bezia will just kind of whisper to Aunt Liddy next to him, you want to take his head? You've got the big axe. I kind of motion for it to go over. She'll say happily. Oh God.
00:48:13
Speaker
So, Aunt Lydia, are you making your way over to where Lim is with our two men on deck? Yes, yes. Okay, could I ask the... I've already got a stealth check from you. Could I just quickly get a stealth check from our two last characters to join us on stage here? Valben and Vasil, can you both just give me a stealth check just so I know roughly what you're working with up on here? Yes. Go to Valben first, what did you get?
00:48:44
Speaker
Ten! Okay, and for seal? Six.
00:48:52
Speaker
Ahh! So, Aunt Lily, you make your way over and you notice as you step over there's this kind of large great area which obviously can be retracted where this cargo can go down through which you step over casting shadows down below. You notice as you walk over the central portion of the ship where the central mast is just to the very, very center of the ship as a series of steps going down, wooden steps going down to the deck below. You notice there's only that one step going down below.
00:49:17
Speaker
As you walk around the edge of the mast, you look up and see the large unfurled sails flapping freely in the wind, a signal to the other ships that all as well. You notice also the far back end of the ship, the after the ship, the
00:49:31
Speaker
The stern of the ship, whatever, back of the ship, are two large doors that are shut at the moment as well. From looking at the map that Vellestrom III gave you, they're no-grigglies up in there that you can see, he said. You have two enemies or two people in front of you that you want to dispatch. Lim is standing equidistant between both of them, aren't Liddy? Where would you like to go? I'd like to go behind the one that's closest to the double doors, please.
00:49:59
Speaker
Okay, very nice. So now we have one behind each of them. Over to you two, Lim and Aunt Lily, what would you like to do? Well, Lim's going to follow suit and he is going to try and subdue him. You know, just very typical choke hold. Okay. Could you give me a, let's go for a grapple. Could you give me a, we'll do a contested athletics check. You get advantage because you're taking him by surprise. Okay.
00:50:32
Speaker
Five. You have advantage if you take it by surprise. Don't forget the advantage. Six. I think stealth is going out the window very quickly. I just get what you're intending to do as well before we trigger. Yeah, and Lily's going to reach delicately for the great axe on the back of her and
00:51:02
Speaker
slowly pull it out with great strength. She'll yield it at the back, ready to swoop down on the neck of that one. Okay, could you roll to hit, please? You going for a KO or a kill? I love it. She's going for the kill. She's on the neck. She's going for the kill. Oh, bitch, it's 22. That hits. Please roll your damage. This is...
00:51:33
Speaker
at 12 points of damage. Okay. Thank you very much. Cool. Nice. So this all happens at once and I'll just regale what happens. There's an intake of breath from almost everyone. There's a stillness in the air.
00:51:52
Speaker
Almost the seagulls, far from the distance, stop coring as well. The rain slows, the air stops as everyone waits and seems to move in slow motion as you all watch the hands of Aunt Liddy go back to her great acts, pulling it out silently, deftly, and then in a single motion, lopping across at the man's head.
00:52:09
Speaker
As that happens, the arms of the large furballed monk slips into a hold trying to grab a hold of the other individual. But as he's doing that, the great act that lops through the head continues to come directly towards him. And you have to slightly move back, Lynn, in order to not have your own neck cut by this great act that comes hurling round. The head, I imagine, like in something from the Suicide Squad, pops up
00:52:37
Speaker
off the body and in slow motion kind of turns around to look at you limb as this is all confused but the man has slipped down
00:52:47
Speaker
and away and he looks up and as he looks up the head of his friend falls into his hands I roll for this it was half of d20 one half screen one half it'd be just sheer terror it's the sheer terror half he's just there holding his friend's head looking down and looking at it shaking for a couple of seconds and you two are the closest but the rest of the crew are available what do you want to do I said don't kill
00:53:11
Speaker
I must say, Lim looks almost just as shocked as... Right, yeah. Noticing that Lim is not doing anything, she's going to go for it again with her axe. Oh my God! Okay, roll the hip. He's also kneeling down, he's prone, so you could get advantage as well. Where did we hire her from again? I've forgotten!
00:53:32
Speaker
We shouldn't have used that, pirates are us up! Pirate finder! Was it advantage? Yes. Oh, you beat me too, I'm Prinder. No, no, plenty of fish. 80-17. Yes, roll the damage.
00:54:05
Speaker
15 points of damage. Jesus. You behead him as well. Into his lap falls his friend's head and his own as the bottom slumps down against the side of the broken ship. A tuft of his shirt grasped in the nails he was trying to stick into the rowing boat on the side of the gerrymander.
00:54:29
Speaker
They're both brutally, brutally murdered and almost silently. I like to imagine, Aunt Liddy, you did the one head, you saw him slip out and then like a double swing just brought it up and just bolted it right down before anyone could do anything. And again, there's this stunned silence on deck for a few seconds. Well, Aunt Liddy also turns to
00:54:52
Speaker
Is it Valsin? Vaseel. Vaseel, sorry. Vaseel. Oh, she didn't say anything, sorry. She just turns to him and she just goes...
00:55:03
Speaker
Maybe we can leave this part out of the story to the captain. Here's what we're gonna do, here's what we're gonna do and I'm just gonna kind of quietly as I can push the bodies and the two heads into the rowboat that's actually there and just gently lower it into the ocean. Could you give me a slight hand check please?
00:55:26
Speaker
Yes, I can, quite happily. Also, is there anything that they don't care? I don't think I have anything for that. I did a nine on slight of hand. Actually, you're a halfling, so you have lucky. Oh, thank you, James. Yes, I rolled a natural one, so I'm going to use the lucky feat of halfling so I can re-roll. Nice. Thank you, James. I forget. OK, it's a 10 now. OK, no, that was literally the pass, so that was fine. You lower it down. It squeaks a little bit, and you slow it down.
00:55:55
Speaker
At this point, Lim goes next to me and is like, I confused, brother. I thought you said no kill. That was the plan. Never mind. She just walks both their heads off. I know, I know, I know. Don't worry about it. The plan is still not to kill. These are going in the ocean and we're going to pretend like this never happened.
00:56:19
Speaker
okay we're all up on deck and everything is fine everything is fine at the moment um it's yeah you're probably hearing nim going around saying that everything's fine everything's fine everything's fine
00:56:32
Speaker
And we have a series of doors to the front of the ship. We have a series of doors to the back of the ship. We have the stairs down, and we have the mast with the sails upon it. We have one rowboat still up, and we've got, hopefully, the boat with the phelostron in it just off to the north of the starboard side of the ship. That's where we're at the moment. What would you as a group like to do? Probably watching all this as it goes on, Valben, Vasil, what you guys,
00:57:01
Speaker
what was the plan it's all going to play it's good this was not the plan kind of going to plan and then but never mind moving on uh shall we sabotage the mast yes it's going to start to carry on let's carry on do you want to see if you can find something
00:57:24
Speaker
Heavy with your bear strength. You see those doors at the front of the ship? Maybe we can bar them, block them off with something, I don't know. Just have a look, see what you can find. Well, I mean, if I'm going to stay on the deck, I could always, you know, stand here and bar it myself. No, no, no. I think we should, once we've sabotaged the mast, we should all move down together. Stick together.
00:57:47
Speaker
No one left behind. Interesting. Interesting plan. Okay. Yeah, I'm going to look around. Is there anything that looks kind of weighty that looks like it might be useful? I don't know whether the doors have, I'm just imagining handles for some reason, because that'd be useful, that I can kind of even stick an all between or like anything that I can use to barricade
00:58:17
Speaker
the doors to the bow of the ship? Yes, so you've got the rowing boat to the north on the map, to the starboard side where you could take one of the rowing oars and try and jibby it to bar the doors. You do also remember from the map that Felistron gave you that the back room or the back of the ship is empty and from his makeshift drawings it looks like some kind of
00:58:46
Speaker
quarters where there could be a table or kind of larger item to bed, perhaps things like that, larger bits of furniture. So it's up to you which you want to want to go for, really. Cool. I'm going to calmly stroll to the back door, then put an ear to it, see if I can hear anyone. And if not, work my way in. Firstly, could you give me an investigation check? I can certainly try. That's a naughty one, baby.
00:59:16
Speaker
You are certain that there's absolutely no one there? Okay.
00:59:27
Speaker
this way and I'll push it open brazenly and the doors back open onto a kind of a medium sized room quite large actually a relatively warm there's one or two uh kind of fires lit on the wall small uh small torches on the wall the room is absolutely empty and you notice there's a kind of a large wooden table to the north of the room a bed to the south and another number of small kind of um
00:59:52
Speaker
of sideboard tables. What you also notice though as you walk into the room that kind of you turning round to the north side of it there are two chests that are locked at the moment as well. I'll turn back to the group and go hey I found this silk with one it's good come see. The silk downstairs downstairs on the lower deck. Yeah it's right here look it's in the they've got the treasure we found it.
01:00:20
Speaker
Yeah, Nim's gonna go and have a look. Nim, Nim, can you do the mast? Do the mast! You were gonna do the mast! God damn it! Fine!

Cliffhanger Ending

01:00:32
Speaker
While they're off looking at the treasure, I'm going to try and... Well, I'll look at where the signal point is, where they'll lower it, and if there's a way to sabotage it. If there isn't, then I'm going to try and scale the mast, and I'm just trying to tie it up from the top so it doesn't respond to any levers or pulleys or anything like that.
01:00:52
Speaker
Okay, we'll return to that in just a second, Calum, if that's cool. So we'll take the guys who've gone in, inside the chest, one of them you open up and it's filled to the brim with paperwork, all kinds of notes and papers that have taken from the previous journey to the ship, merchant logs of money, incoming money, outgoing, et cetera. The other one though, unfortunately, it's just filled full of silver pieces to the brim.
01:01:21
Speaker
Yeah, we'll take some silver. There's no silk in here, though, Vassil. No, look, it's a metaphor. Silk is like the goods. We have the goods. I think we're looking for actual silk, though. Like, actual material. Okay, okay, Vassil will take this to the boat. I take the papers, too, because, you know, they keep a log of where they go, who they see. We may take it back to captain.
01:01:46
Speaker
Well you burn the notes, you don't get to read the notes, you don't read the notes, you don't see where they've been, you get more treasure this way, the captain will be happy. I am thinking about survival. She starts to scoop the silver in her apron. My intention is to basically
01:02:06

try and lift up one of the chests and carry it back towards the where we came up uh to start loading the boat with my first bit of treasure. I've got this wonderful image that you carry this big ass heavy chest all the way over. Here we are over the ship and drop it straight down on the rowboat and it's just going pow as it out awaits. Oh snap!
01:02:31
Speaker
Well, that's not what I expected. That was not what I had in mind when I came up here in Beva. Yes, so you have a choice really, Will, for this. If you try to pick up the silver one, that's going to be a check, a rather heavy check. It is, I mean, silver's flipping heavy. The paper one, I'm not going to even make you roll for. That would just be, that would just be a simple enough lift. So it's up to you which one you go for.
01:02:57
Speaker
With Aunt Liddy already rifling through the silver one, I'm not going to butter out the way. I've got a lot of respect for Aunt Liddy. I'm going to take the paper one with a big old smug grin and take it back to the side of the ship. It still probably weighs about seven or eight kilos, given that the chest is a good quality weighty chest. I do with one arm and the other one. I do more flicks. So you get to the edge of the boat.
01:03:22
Speaker
You get to the edge of the boat where you can look down, you can see a fella strum just kind of staring meekly into the distance, still with oars in hand, staring off like a frozen NPC off into the distance. What would you like to do? I just need to check my intelligence score. No, we're good. It's not a positive, but it's not a negative. He'll look back round and go,
01:03:48
Speaker
I'd be right back and I'll climb over the side with the chest in one arm to go and load the boat. OK, so one armed. OK, give me because Callum gave you the advantage by loosening the rigging, let's go with just a straight athletics check or a graphics check, whatever you prefer. So 10.
01:04:09
Speaker
Yeah, that's literally it. You give you a nice, low one and you hit it every time. And yeah, she managed to get down the rigging, one arms, chuck the first crate down. And Felistron just kind of looks over at you and, well, look at what we got here. We got here some gold or some silver or some silks. Maybe what did we get? It is metaphorical treasure. You stay put. You leave with the treasure. I hunt you down. I eat your face. Let's go.
01:04:38
Speaker
You make it abundantly clear I'm not going anywhere without my grinkle friends, you know that. And I'm going to take the same role for you to get back up. It was a pass anyway, so I'll give you the pass again for that.
01:04:49
Speaker
As you get back up on the deck, however, as you pull yourself up, you notice also that the rigging is quite wet and quite tricky. And as your arm and legs get up onto the side, and as you bring that other back leg over, your stealth check is going to come into effect now. And boom, you hit the deck hard, making like the top bit of the deck kind of shudder a little bit. Everyone in the far room at the back, you feel it as well. As a moment of silence, I'm just going to have to move you into positions because something's going to happen.
01:05:18
Speaker
I wasn't in that room. I've noticed you've moved me. I was in the mast. I've got to say, weren't I near the mast because I got told up. Apologies. Apologies. You did indeed. And before that just happens though, because we're kind of running things.
01:05:38
Speaker
Simultaneously. We're also going to quickly check the state of the mask to see if we can do that. That's kind of happening as Vasil's been lowering the treasure down whilst Aunt Lily's been rifling through the silver and I'm sure Lim is doing probably something similar. Lim will be with Nim. He'll be by his side. Go in to help him if he can.
01:06:00
Speaker
No problem. So it's just Lydia going through the treasure like an absolute fiend, like a pirate. Well done. So over at the mast, we've got Lim Nim and Val Bin. I love it. I wanted to go for the... Lim Nim and Val Bin. I like it. I like it. It's your job to break the sails to stop them calling for aid. You look at the main function to lower the sails and it's a basic rig pulley system.
01:06:31
Speaker
It's without actually, the thing is, if you cut the ropes, the sails will fall. It's gonna fall. I want to lock the pulley if there's any way to lock the pulley for it. If there isn't, then I wanna climb up and basically just tie the mast to the crow's nest or something like that, basically anyway, where it's either gonna keep it up there or at least make it very difficult to pull down.
01:06:53
Speaker
Okay, I'm going to go with the more interesting option, and I'm going to go with... You're going to make me climb, aren't you? I'm going to make you fucking climb, you know. Yeah, so we're going to have to climb up. Limp. You're going to climb up, yeah? Nim. Limp. I'm Nim. He's Limp. He's not climbing up. I can't believe he gets this wrong again. Why does he not get it? I'm Limp. He's Nim. What knots are you going to use?
01:07:23
Speaker
Sure, Shanknaught. No. No. Use the square knot. We got taught knots. You were there in the class. Use the square knot. Look, I'm sorry I might have phased out a little bit during knot class, but I remember the square one. It's fine. You should listen to him. He's gone now. He knows his stuff. I know he knows his stuff. I just don't like to admit it. I think you do a good job, little gnome.
01:07:52
Speaker
Okay. All right. Square knot, square knot. Fine. Come on. I give you a push up. Yeah. Yeah. You're going to have to give me a bit of a leg up. Okay. With the alley from your brother, could you give me an athletics or acrobatics check to see if you can get, I'll be going up to the crow's nest. Um, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Pretty much. I was just going to try and
01:08:16
Speaker
loop the mask around the crow's nest just to try and keep it up. Okay, there is a rope ladder on the way up to the crow's nest. It is loose. It's a loose rope ladder that takes you up to a small platform, which in the mask continues up to the crow's nest above it. So it's two generic kind of rope ladders to get you there. So it'll be two checks, two options to fail, Callum.
01:08:38
Speaker
So for the first one, I'm going to give you with advantage because you've had the alley-oop from your brother to give you the push up. So could you give me the first, I'm going to imagine you go acrobatics check with advantage, please. Yeah, acrobatics on the first one, 22. Yep, that passes. You managed to pull yourself up. A slight gust of wind blows moving the ladder slightly, but you climb up to the first little platform. Looking up, you see the second set of ladders just above you. Could you please keep giving a straight acrobatics check, please?
01:09:03
Speaker
As the wind blows the rope like it's like you're just going to hear it. My second check is a 13. Now is that a fail or is that a pass? Because I do have something I can do if it's a fail. Why did you tell him that? Oh no. Yeah, you shouldn't. No, no, I'm being square. I'm being fair. And it would be a fail. I can do it multiple times anyway.
01:09:33
Speaker
Of course you do. Hold on, let's do it. And we've reached this time again, listeners, where Callum reached his town under his desk, and he whips out his calm book of bullshit. And he's looking through the pages. We got tonight, Callum. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Soul Knife, Si Bolstered Knack. You just made that up. You went Phil Boris Johnson there. You just made that word.
01:10:01
Speaker
If you fail an ability check using a skill or tool with which you have proficiency, which I do, I can roll one of my psionic energy dies and add the number to the check, potentially turning failure into success. How many energy dies can you do this? It's a D6. I only expend the die if I actually turn it into a pass. I can do it four times.
01:10:26
Speaker
And then I've also got an ability that will refresh one of those titans. I also have a cloak of invigibility. So I will roll psionic die and get a 5, turning it into an 18. Okay, that passes and you manage to make it up to the crows nest where you'll be able to jig the sails in order to hold them in place. Could you please give me a slight of hand to check, please, Helen? It's going to make me burn through them all doing this, aren't you? Yeah. 18.
01:10:54
Speaker
That passage, you managed to do a perfect square knot as told to be done by a valve and pale belt down at the base of the deck. And I managed to tie off at the top there, which means the sails are stuck in place. They will not be able to move unless someone climbs up there and removes the knot that you've so established at the top of the mast there. You're up there, just one, I'll do one athletics check for the whole thing to get you back down if that's okay. Athletics or acrobatics? Acrobatics, what? Either or.
01:11:26
Speaker
Can I add anything for him to be at the bottom to catch him? You know, like an acrobatics act? No, Callum's got enough in him. He just has to fly. Fourteen. Yeah, that's fine. To come back down. What I would like to do as well, just the second set of swinging rope ladders, I would actually want to just kind of cut them and then slide down the mast if I can do. Okay. It's the GM thing. Fuck it out.
01:11:55
Speaker
That's different then. That's different. So the second set is in the lower set. The lower set, yeah. Right. Could you please then give me... That is going to be an athletics check to hold on with one arm, cut with the other and then slide down. So that'll be an athletics check, please. Oh, this is going to be painful. Three.
01:12:20
Speaker
I'm not going to waste diet on that because nothing's going to turn that into it. I have no bullshit prepared for such a low roll. No, we'll still got them. You got this thing that says re-roll whatever you like, whenever you like, your DM's too tired to give in.
01:12:38
Speaker
It's not even a natural one, so I can't re-roll it with lucky. I have nothing. Put a lot of alcohol in, managed to fit yourself inside it just before you hit the deck. I'm afraid I have nothing for this. I'm afraid I have nothing.
01:12:52
Speaker
Excellent. Not for athletics. I've fallen to my death now. You take two points of bludgeoning damage as you slip from the 15 feet up, you slide down a little bit, your grip falls, you cut through the rope, the ropes are cut, you fall down, boom, hit the deck. And ironically, but not really ironically, you hit the deck at the same time as Vasil hit the deck. And all you need, you hear from the ship down by Felistron the 3rd, a little symbol comes out.
01:13:19
Speaker
symbol as you both hit the deck almost simultaneously and you just hear a what was that and that's what we're gonna have to leave it for this week's episode of the fellowship of the tabletop suicide squad edition next week to see what happens with our intrepid crew and their journeys to steal from the good people of Goldview
01:13:45
Speaker
We were the baddies. We're pirates. I feel like that meme from a place that the cat would be. It's just like pirates. Suicide Squad though, I'm loving that label. It does feel like that though. But anyway, that's what we're going to leave it for this game.
