Welcome and Introduction

00:00:00
Speaker
Can you take it on your own if you're strong? Well, no. But I'll totally get the first hit here.

Meet the Characters

00:00:32
Speaker
Hello and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop where you're alive, play 5E D&D Podcast set in the magical, mystical, home-brewed world of Eryth. My name is Mark and I'm the dungeon master and I just ate some cake and it was nice. To get ate up. I never get eaten up. He did it with 31 episodes, he only ever got through his whole intro speech. First time once. The joke is, I haven't written out it but then I always try and improv.
00:00:58
Speaker
And it's always the improv that goes right. Oh, it tells me something, I'm shit at improvising. Also with us for today's episode, we've got Danny, who plays the fighter, Sargeant Felsdrough. Hey-o! We've got Will, who plays the human-barred Carstan. Hello! And we've also got Casey, who plays the human champion, Princess Hella Mystic Guard. Hello.

Encounter on the Road

00:01:16
Speaker
You've got everyone. Lovely. Right, so we're gonna get straight back into it. Last week's episode, we were introduced to this lovely band of people. We met on the side of the road outside of the Gold Coast, heading west towards...
00:01:27
Speaker
Blackmouth, out of Goldview, which is the very south of Sleepguard, where we haven't been before. We came across Sandra Felserup and Helena Sleepguard walking. They came across a number of figures. They came across this Assimar human. Sorry, Assimar human. An Assimar who told them of Blackmouth slightly further along the way. We also met Karstan, who is our Bardan, Will's new character. He came running up a road and wanted to chronicle the story and heroicism of
00:01:56
Speaker
Princess Helen, a sleepguard, and kind of begged to follow along in their adventures to Blackmouth, which the group begrudgingly said, for now, yes, for now, until they want to kill you later, probably. We carried on Dalerite and came across a black plume of smoke which, in the distance,
00:02:14
Speaker
was odd. We approached it and came across a cart that was broken, battered, bruised, and also the body of a priest of Tirioni. Upon resuscitating this person, she spoke of the graveyard, the burial site, just to the north of where they currently are, which had seemed to have been attacked by the undead of some description.

Exploring the Graveyard

00:02:33
Speaker
She couldn't give a description as she was knocked out trying to escape. We approached the top of the rift and looked down finally after a amount of walking.
00:02:44
Speaker
this kind of broken and decrepit graveyard where we saw the house of the priestess of Tiriani. We also saw two of the mausoleum buildings which were still standing and a third building to the left which had been destroyed. In the centre was this large 20 or 30 foot monument with a number of graves dotted around. These graves are very low to the ground like a square block looking like an open book which marks the grave of every space. Apart from that there is no other noticeable
00:03:12
Speaker
The grave's kind of sticking out of the ground. This is where we find ourselves. We've just found ourselves just looking down on this. It's eerily quiet. What would you like to do? I'm taking good vibes here. Be on your guard. I don't think you've been to sleep guard before. No, but haven't. We have a problem with the dead here. Yes, that I know. I would suggest...
00:03:39
Speaker
Do you want to do? Should I advance, may I? I think so, yes. I'll sort of start to move into the, towards the shack. I'm trying to get a better view of the area. Can I, can I do a bit of a perception check around the area? Okay, you have to be a role for perception, please. Four. Plus...
00:04:07
Speaker
I'm zero. Oh no. Okay. Sorry. I thought I wasn't good. I thought you're not watching in terms of skills, are you? You're all fight, fight, fight. You look around and you, for a second, hear a crack.
00:04:20
Speaker
Like a bit of a noise off in the distance and off to your left behind the broken and battered the ashes of a smouldering mausoleum. You think you heard something behind there. Off to your left. Karsten will also look and sort of observe from where he is, just sort of cursing around what does he perceive. He perceives that this seems eerily quiet, too quiet, to use the phrase from Lylat Wars, hashtag N64. And there seems to be a
00:04:50
Speaker
some kind of magical something in the air and it's keeping everything very, very quiet and not making a noise like there's some kind of spell for silence in the area which is maybe masking or hiding some kind of noise because it's not like there's the normal noises of this land, the wind rushing through some of the smaller bushels, there's nothing at all.

Battle with the Skeletons Begins

00:05:11
Speaker
Well can I say first because I'll go fast now, I'll just say to sort of a fill stop, a fill stop to
00:05:22
Speaker
Can you check that out first? Yes, Maddie. I know I'm not an expert, but things seem a bit too quiet. You know how normally there's some noise. I know I get a tang. Whether there's a magical thing over this area, I don't quite
00:05:52
Speaker
I mean, obviously. Thank you for your insight. It is a bit quiet, but that is quite obvious. Magical? I don't know any... I can't sense any magic. Shields up, my lady. Be on your guard. Can't stand more. So, put it from main pack down.
00:06:14
Speaker
He's kept his loo on his back, just in case we don't choose him. He's pulled out a crossbow and just slid a little bolt into his crossbow. And he's over there with his, like, brand new crossbow. I've looked like he's never been fired.
00:06:28
Speaker
Brilliant. Okay, so where you find yourselves, we've got a little map in front of us, a listener, we'll be approaching from the south, which would be down here. So we're going to place your models where you are. Okay, so we've got ourselves then in front of you, directly in front of you, which fell straight out in front of the moment slightly, is this central obelisk.
00:06:48
Speaker
To your left, you have the broken and battered and rubble remaining mausoleum, which, Helen, you heard a noise from around there. In front of you, there's two more mausoleums in front of you, and then just to your right. Directly to your right, though, is the shack where the priestess would have lived, you assume. So with that...
00:07:09
Speaker
We have heard this, Helen, you've heard this click. What are we doing? We've got your, I assume you've kind of readied the bow and some of the crossbow. Well, I've loaded it, because I've loaded it. So it's loaded, it's sort of resting, sort of, you know, this is new to him as well. He's not quite sure what to do. He's been told not to be quiet, so he can't play a nice inspirational tune.
00:07:31
Speaker
But, you know, it's fine. I think Phil's dropped knowing that we aren't particularly gifted with stealth abilities. We'll probably announce into the mausoleum, in the name of King Leopold II, step forth out of your caves. And you can hear that almost hit.
00:07:51
Speaker
a solid wall and it's like the sound is kind of absorbed, it doesn't seem to travel half as far as you're expected to in as much as you can't hear your own voice return as loud at all.
00:08:02
Speaker
there's a moment of quiet and then what you see approaching from around the corners of the mausoleum and from behind the rubble a number of skeletons which pop out either from around the buildings or out of the rubble and start to pull themselves out with these large black sheathed bows on their arms with sections of kind of broken rusted armour over shoulders over chests each different each
00:08:29
Speaker
sort of noise that seems to emanate from their mouths and all the sudden as they come out of the ground and come out from around these buildings making these noises the silence kind of cracks and breaks and you can hear sound kind of returns and you suddenly hear the noise of a few more of these you realise it's not just one there's five of these crutches that appear can you all please roll initiative
00:08:53
Speaker
Okay, did anyone roll between 20 and 30? Yes. What did you get? 26. Fucking hell cast down. It's going to get used to calling you cast down and not ill fear. Yeah. That can be difficult. 15 to 20? 18. 18, I don't know. I wanted to roll for that one. What about you, Flossop? Five. I'll take it before you.
00:09:20
Speaker
Okay, so we've got the order of Castan, Helena, these skeletons that have emerged from the ground, all wielding these kind of wreathing shadow bows, and a quiver on the back, and then fell struck at the end. We initially brought a castan on top of the round. What do you want to do? I've seen these skeletons just pull themselves out of the ground. So, Castan sort of, he sees these skeletons,
00:09:48
Speaker
He's a little bit taken aback, sort of, bugger me! And he's going to suddenly pull out, and he sort of lets go of his crossbow, and he sort of pulls out a little bit of sulfur into his hands, and he sort of says, take this, you buggers! Princess is here! She's here to hunt game and kick ass, and she's all out of game!
00:10:15
Speaker
I will cast third level fireball, sorry fifth level spell fireball. Fifth level fireball. Yeah. Third level. There. So you're aiming to these... So you want to catch all four of these skeletons? Central ones, yes. Central ones. So what do you need from me for them?
00:10:34
Speaker
Each creature needs to take a dexterity saving throw, please. Okay, the first one gets a natural one, which is the far left. The one in the middle gets 12. No. Next one gets a natural 20. It passes. The last one gets a 17. Meets it beat. So two fail, uh, two pass. Just the fifth level, does that mean you get like seven? This is 10d6. 10d6. You need to borrow some d6. No, no, I'm gonna go five and then do five again. Oh shit, yeah.
00:11:09
Speaker
So, full damage ones take 43 points of damage. And then the other ones take 21 points of damage. And sort of casts and sort of goes, fuck me! And then pulls out and just launches this
00:11:32
Speaker
fire will grow and grow as it reaches the central area and sends these flames and explosions outwards from the central point burning and scorching many of the skeletons, these five skeletons that have appeared also damaging the back, front, or the front

Turning the Tide

00:11:47
Speaker
front wall of the back mausoleum. This white marble is now blackened with ash from this fireball that's gone up and also the backside of the monument takes a hit and you can see it start to wobble slightly on its place in the central area of this graveyard as it kind of wobbles from side to side, looking quite unsafe now. Amazing, so your first move was a fireball, fifth level, incredible. Thank you very much Castan. Helena, your turn. What do you want to do? I'm not alive. You're also alive, yeah. Oh dear.
00:12:16
Speaker
How much movement? 30. I can't, I have not enough to hit so I'm going to have to just run.
00:12:24
Speaker
I'll run to here. So right into, you look up behind the monument, getting close, probably next turn you'll be in combat range, but at the moment you're still kind of live range. So yeah, just saw what happened with the fireball, knowing that I need to act quickly, I've got my blaile in my right hand, shield in the other, and I just pound it straight through to go, yeah, behind the monument. Pound it straight through, nice. Awesome, thank you very much. Anything else you'd like to do, bonus actions or anything? No, I think I'm happy, yeah. No problem.
00:12:54
Speaker
skinny bitches are going to go next they are going to kind of taking this fireball but they're all standing and they're going to just
00:13:01
Speaker
They're just going to adjust their positions slightly, and all of them are going to ready their bows and try to take shots at the approaching humans that are coming towards them. This first one, the undamaged one, is going to take a shot at you, Helena, for aim and arrow at you. Does a 11 hit you? Sorry, a 9 hit you around the class? No. No, of course it doesn't mean you've got a 3-star on the class.
00:13:25
Speaker
The next two are also going to take a shot at you. That is a 12. It's going to miss. And a six. My lord, these skeletons are awful. So three of these creatures have been shot at you. The first two just missed the third one, up against the shield and you knock it aside as you're kind of sprinting in towards them. The one over the shoulder, the last one you find next to the broken and battered mausoleum is going to take a shot at Felstrup and will roll a 19 in total. Does that hit?
00:13:51
Speaker
you're going to take 7 points of piercing damage and 9 points of necrotic damage. So that's going to be 16 points of damage in total. What you notice is this arrow thuds into your shoulder that these aren't normal arrows and they seem to also share this kind of shadowy texture as the arrow is kind of coated, the whole shaft of it is coated in something as it hits it. As you pull it out you realise these aren't normal skeletons, they aren't normal arrows.
00:14:15
Speaker
You've taken that damage. The last one, just behind, doesn't actually have line of sight on anyone, so isn't going to take a shot. That is the end of their turn. Felstrop. Great. Just been shot on the shoulder. What do you want to do? So, Felstrop is going to run into the fray, pass Helena, and as it's going, say, on your right flank, my lady.
00:14:37
Speaker
And now I'm gonna put myself here. Okay, just next to the closest one on the left side of the board. But because I've got a reach weapon, I'm still sort of able to hit two, despite them being further away. And I'm gonna make a halberd attack at the one closest to Helena. Okay. So 19, that hits. So that's 12 points of slashing damage. I assume it's slashing? Yes. Slashing damage on the first hit.
00:15:06
Speaker
And then I'll take my second hit on the same individual. And that would be a 23. That hits.
00:15:16
Speaker
That is great, that's 15 points of slashing on the same person. I suppose you run up past Helena, you take a swing at the skirt in the first long swing of this halberd, cut straight through the shoulder joint, removing the hand with the arrow. This was one of the creatures of fire at Helena as well. And as you swing the halberd, you round up your head and move, come straight round to take the head off. This creature just crumbles into dust and falls.
00:15:40
Speaker
That creature has been slayed. Slayed. You just absolutely slayed. Is there anything else you want to do with your turn, first drop? Yep. Lovely. Top of the round.
00:15:49
Speaker
Your fingers must still be warm from the fireball as it left your body. On top of the right car stand, what do you want to do? So, car stand's a bit surprised, and you can see that the fell starts charging and damaged and destroyed one of the ones beside it. So, first of all, you go, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, because they hadn't died. But now he's been like, oh, actually, this might be all right.
00:16:12
Speaker
And he is going to, seeing how fast I was doing, I thought, better, better help him out. So he's going to move to his left, sort of putting the enemies between him and sort of putting, making sure that there are allies between him and the undead. I'm going to cast Faerie Fire. Okay, enough of the uninitiated. So Faerie Fire, it's the 24th of Q.
00:16:41
Speaker
And anything within that is outlined in a green hue. And... One second. You need to take a deck saving throw. That's 20 foot cube. Yes, that's 20 foot cube. Sorry. Thank you, sorry. So what he's going to do is he's going to cast it on the two ahead of felt drop and... Yeah, it's in range. You need to take a deck saving throw, those two please. Okay.
00:17:10
Speaker
First one gets a six, second one gets a four. So they both fail. Both of these skeletons are now outlined in this green hue, and if anything was invisible, it would also now show up. And a tap rose against the affected creature now have advantage. Awesome, really nice. So these two creatures suddenly, this flash of green lights appear almost for a second temporarily blinding as you look at them, but as it subsides,
00:17:38
Speaker
These two skeletons now seem to have an outline, a glow around them, almost similar to that of the Asamar you would have seen earlier on in the day. Thank you very much. Castor, anything else you want to do with your turn? No, that's it. That's my one action and it's a concentration spell, so that's why I'm going to keep going. Lovely. Thank you. I'll make a note of that. Helena, your turn. You've charged and you've seen some sort of one ahead of you. Take one out and mention something about the right flank. What do you want to do?
00:18:02
Speaker
I'm going to go straight for the right, the guys on the right. Yep, next door's Lindor. So I'll go straight up to them, get my one flail and swing it as hard as I can at his face. Nice, okay, give us a roll for that please. Right, 24. That definitely hits, yep, that hits. Perfect. Nine bludgeoning.
00:18:28
Speaker
I've gone in with my flail, swung it as hard as I can at his face. It's wobbled up a bit. He's obviously sort of seeing double. And then I take it again and go around the other way. Nice, yep, broad hair. 14. That hits. 13, bludgeoning damage. Lovely, thank you very much.
00:18:51
Speaker
And as he's had these two big swings, run of face, the second shot, he manages to get like an arm up to protect his face. His arm, his forearm takes the brunt of that second hit. But again, this seems to shatter part of his arm as he tries to defend himself. But we've done some good damage to him. He's looking a bit blackened as well from the fireball earlier as well. Lovely. Anything else you want to do? No, I don't want to do anything. I'd like to give you the option just in case. No, I don't want to do anything. OK, amazing. So these guys are going to have an attack back at you.
00:19:21
Speaker
The first skeleton will go from the far left to the far right, so the ones nearest to Felstrop will deal with first. These two see you approaching. Oh, I'm doing a sentinel attack, the one that tried to retrieve. Okay, so once you've tried to reach it, you're going to sentinel attack? Yeah, now if I land the hit, he has a speed of zero. Okay, cool, yeah. He's trying advantage as well, because it's an attack roll. Perfect. That's a 26. Yes, that hits.
00:19:47
Speaker
14 points of slashing and he has a speed of zero. So he's tried to run away and he literally just kind of cut his feet off pretty much as he kind of stands there, lets out this scream as he realises now he has no room to move and because of that he's just then going to break up his bow and try and take a shot at you. Does this count as being in melee because it's your melee but not his? He's in my range but not his. Therefore it's in melee so it would be disadvantage as well.
00:20:17
Speaker
11 against your armour class? Miss. Okay, so he takes this one shot at you and literally you only remove. The arrow just kind of bounces off your armour as he attempts to hit you. The second one is going to see his fellow skeleton man in plight. He's going to take a shot at you his own. I'm rolling dog shit. That's an 8 to hit you. Miss. Perfect. Mark. Mark. As the end.
00:20:36
Speaker
His muscles don't roll well. I'm a good roller for my own characters. I'm for NPCs, but for buddies. They always roll dog shit. The last one that's not in combat and hasn't actually been touched yet is going to sneakily try and take a shot over at you, Castan. He's going to take a hit at you. That's going to be a 13 against your army class. God damn it. The last one that's currently engaged in combat with Helena is going to put his bow down and just hold that like a short sword, and he's going to try and take a spin.
00:21:05
Speaker
At you, it rolls a natural 20. So you net a 24. It needs a piece. It hits automatically, yeah. That's 12 points of slashing damage and three points of necrotic damage. I'm resistant to necrotic. You have it so it's one point of necrotic, so it's 13 points of damage in total.
00:21:30
Speaker
one, it pulls this short, this short black seal out and just stabs it into your leg as you've kind of taken his arm down. He's kind of stabbed this into the side of your leg, taking it, taking a shot to your left leg.
00:21:42
Speaker
And that's the end of their turn. Felt rock, your turn. What do you want to do? Okay, I'm going to continue the events on the left flank, and I'm going to position myself between the two skeletons this side. And I'm going to continue my attacks, the one that I managed to sentinel attack before. So... This is a lot of no legs. Yeah, nothing about legs. And is it still an event? So the spell persists, because it's Contrasion, I think. Lasts a minute, here you keep it. That will be a 25 to hit. That hits, yeah.
00:22:12
Speaker
And nine points of slashing damage with my first attack. That creature, without the legs, you can just quickly swing, as you move into position, swing the halberd eye almost one-handed, just removing, cutting through the abdomen as the creature just returns to the place. Okay, cool. Cool, in which case I'll do some sort of Darth Maul-style pirouette with the long blade and attack the guy that's now behind me. Lovely, wrong to hit.
00:22:40
Speaker
That is the seven points of slashing damage on the individual at the first away from the fray. Yeah, to the most northern one. Okay, clearing the area. Thank you very much for that. Anything else you want to do? No. Cool. Top of the round, are these quick rounds? It was only four rounds, it gets through, we're getting a lot, there's a fifth, a third round? Yep. I like it. Right, cast on top of the round. This chap's just fired a shot at you, missed, but it is
00:23:08
Speaker
probably but you are now aware that he has got your name. So Carson has seen that, he sees the princess take a dagger to the knee and
00:23:19
Speaker
I got the arrow to it. And Castle will go, remember your training your majesty, go for the face! And I'm going to give you inspiration. Yay! It is Bardic Inspiration. Bardic Inspiration is a bonus action. So you can now add 1d10 for the next 10 minutes. You can add it to 1 ability check attack roll or saving throw. Can be added after seeing the roll but before knowing the outcome. So you go 1d10, that's your d10. Oh thank you. Sweet. That's me giving him some inspiration. Lovely. Going for the face.
00:23:49
Speaker
And then seeing this one coming towards me, I'm going to sort of look towards it and go, and sort of, he sort of looks towards it and whispers, my monk should bear the mat. And this whisper sort of travels over towards the skeleton and he needs to make a wisdom saving throw please.
00:24:14
Speaker
He gets seven. He failed. So he will take 3d6 damage. Is this what I think it is? This is Distant Whispers. Oh, Distant Whispers, okay.

A New Threat Emerges

00:24:24
Speaker
So he takes eight points of psychic damage. Nice. And must immediately use its reaction to move as far away from me as possible. Yep, so he'll move right behind the mausoleum like that.
00:24:43
Speaker
I get up to try and make skeletal noises and then try and basically run away behind the back of this mausoleum. Now the furthest distance away from you is possible, but also in line of sight actually with Felstrop. He's coming on the other side of this small graveyard. Thank you very much for that. Next up, Helena, what do you want to do? You're currently in full. He's just had a shot for the leg. So he's gone for my leg. I've actually gone down, but because it was quite quick,
00:25:07
Speaker
I've gone down and sort of done a bit of a spin on myself as well. And then I've used my flail to just get his legs. So I've gone in with my flail on his legs so that he goes down. Awesome. Go to heaven. 21. 21 hits. Thank God.
00:25:23
Speaker
Eight bludgeoning damage. Eight points of bludgeoning damage. Thank you very much. You managed to take a good strong swing at this creature's legs. One of its legs pulls up and out and literally kind of flips off the skeleton's body. So it's there on one leg though, but it still looks quite agile and quite stable in its position. Okay. Second attack.
00:25:44
Speaker
after seeing the roll and thinking you can choose to add that, this is after you've added everything together, with four marks as well that it hits, you can decide to add my detentual roll if you choose to. You have to decide once you've added it together. Well I only got it for two hours, haven't I? Ten minutes. You do know that 14 hit last time. Ah, sorry, I haven't remembered that. Yeah, I remember that. So, 14? Sorry? Yes, that hits. Great.
00:26:11
Speaker
Nine, bludgeoning, damage, please. Lovely, and as you kind of come back to a stable base, you bring your flail down on its kind of aim for the head, misses slightly, catches the shoulder with the damage done already, and that whole arm in part of the ribcage falls and crumbles to the floor. It is still standing with the dagger in its right hand, looking back at you, but this creature looks very worse for wear. Now, it's literally like the Black Knight on Monty Python, missing an arm, missing a leg. Go on then.
00:26:39
Speaker
That's the end of your turn, Helena? Yes. Lovely. This creature will just start with it just because we're covering it in combat. It's going to take a flamethrower to swing back at you with this dagger to see if it can catch you. And does a 9 hit your armor plants? No. No, we're near. So it takes a round and you just manage to quickly back out of this hit very easily. Dulse drop. The one you're currently fighting...
00:26:57
Speaker
he's going to take a shock, he's also going to do the same, pull out a dagger, a short sword and take a swing, again this is kind of a wreathed and smoky, ashen blackness as well, and that's a 22 against drama class. It's going to hit.
00:27:12
Speaker
That's ten points of slashing damage, three points of necrotic. Okay. The last one that's currently trying to run away will also try and now seeing you, Felstrop, in kind of his line of sight. He can't get line of sight from anyone else. No, he's not actually. He's going to move the other round, the other corner of the mausoleum towards you, Felstrop, so that he's got line of sight on Helena. He's going to take a shot at Helena.
00:27:38
Speaker
16 against your armor class. God damn it. I hit you once. I mean, that's quite impressive. I've literally got to roll like a 20 to hit anyone. Let me show you, it takes another hour. I can try to shoot at you back again because this creature in front of you is already on its last legs. Your mind is elsewhere and you notice and your shield pulls up just in time to block the hour as it ricochets off your cool little shield. That's the end of their turn.
00:28:02
Speaker
I'm going to just manoeuvre myself again. So I'm between the enemy I'm currently engaged with and the one that's now appeared from around the corner of the mausoleum. And I'm going to stick him with the pointy end of the chap that I've already begun working on. If I'm too down, how's it going? 14, that's okay. He takes six points of slashing damage. And I follow up with the second attack.
00:28:31
Speaker
Great, anyway, now 29. 29 does it.
00:28:36
Speaker
Eight points of slashing damage with the second. Lovely, thank you very much. You take these two big swings with your halberd across this creature. One catches off his arms again as he tries to cover and rear up to protect himself, which hits his arm to the side, taking a glancing blow of damage. The second one comes down lower to that captain counter pelvis area, knocking him off the centre of gravity and taking a chunk out of his, I think I was gonna say spleen then, but it's not a spleen. The area where it's spleen. Yeah, exactly, that kind of whole nascent area.
00:29:06
Speaker
Thank you very much. Top around. Get through these quick. I like it. I've forgotten your name. What are we, Karstan? Karstan. What do you want to do? You see your two newly acquired acquaintances embroiled in combat with skeletons. So, sitting there and sort of thinking to your life that you've really enjoyed this.
00:29:27
Speaker
move down to the corner of the ruined mausoleum and peering around the obelisk. Can I see the one that I scared off earlier? Yes, you can't quite see the one behind the monument but you can see the one that Felsrump is currently in combat with in fighting.
00:29:42
Speaker
So I'm going to see that Felstrop is currently fighting one at the back. I think that one's sort of not taken a fireball, but it's still up. He's going to say, oi, bony, get some skin. And I'm going to do Vicious Mockery on the skeleton. So can you take a wisdom saver, please? 15.
00:30:19
Speaker
So it takes seven points of psychic damage, and it now has disadvantage on its next attack roll before the end of its next attack. So it's got disadvantage. You've got advantage. These guys don't have a chance. Good lord. We don't want to have a chance. Good point. Right, thank you very much for that cast down. Great bit of work there. Helena, you're up next. Okay, this dude still isn't down. This dude's still up. He's looking black knight-esque, one leg, one arm. Okay, I'm going to take my flail and I'm going to bring it with
00:30:48
Speaker
Oh, I can't with both hands actually. Breathe it with one hand, but still, as hard as I can with the energy that I've got left, I'm gonna try and chunk it right down on him so that at least he gets sort of pushed into the ground a bit. Okay, lobby, brought a hit please. Okay, 23. 23 deflow hits.
00:31:09
Speaker
And nine, ten. Ten bludgeoning. Ten bludgeoning? Well I only have three HP left so you literally bring this down and crush not only its skull but its whole rib cage and its pelvis as your flail just comes down straight through this creature and just crushing it into the ground. But you notice as it starts to crush the life of this creature or whatever reanimated life was in it releases again, turns to this dust on the ground, doesn't stay as broken bones which you think is quite interesting. Yeah, okay.
00:31:39
Speaker
Anything else you want to do? So what's your movement? I have got my movement. Yeah, I'm going to move 5, 10, 15, 20. I'm going to engage with him. OK, and obviously we've engaged with the one that's been running away from Kastan. Amazing. Thank you very much.
00:31:53
Speaker
So these two creatures are going to take a turn now. They are the first one that's engaged with Felstraw who's going to take a swing and get a 20 unnatural. Disadvantage. Disadvantage. Thank you. It gets a 8. Natural. Natural 8. Miss. Ah, that's a shame. So he takes a swing at you with his short sword wreathed in shadow and ash and misses horrifically. The other one with you, Helena, who's going to take a swing was a 10.
00:32:15
Speaker
No. No, so both of these hits won't miss as these two martial prowess characters start to really show these skeletons this is how you fight, you in the sills. That's the end of their turn, fells drop, you engage your combat with both. Okay, I'm going to continue working on the skeleton that has been a pain in my ass for the last two rounds.
00:32:35
Speaker
Still on. Yeah. Until we get to a minute, until we get to a round. Rolled off his little rolling board and fell onto an actual 20. Very nice. What round is on by the way? Oh, that's a 25. 25 points of damage. Yeah. Fuck me. Okay, yeah. Nice. Yeah, you've taken a big old swing out of this one.
00:32:58
Speaker
You've decimated this thing as you bring this halberd, how do you do it? How do you do it? Yeah, I think seeing that Helena has just now sort of finished off her skeleton and moved to help me, I'll just flick the halberd up in the air, grab it with two hands and just do a right skewer of the skeleton, right through its core. Cababbing it. Yeah, bring it out.
00:33:19
Speaker
And then, yeah, watch as the bones just fall to the floor. Absolutely, if that creature is killed, thank you very much for that. Then, I will do my second attack on the one, and I'll move into flanking to give advantage for me and Helena. I'll take the 27 to hit. That definitely hits.
00:33:44
Speaker
You have those 15 points of damage to that one. Okay, he takes this, again, that's just for like, in the back piercing through the ribcage. He kind of pulls the, pulls the hub, it pulls the hub out, ripping a few of the ribs and trying to free himself from this little endeavour he's found himself in, but he is still standing. Before Karstam gets to go,
00:34:05
Speaker
The monument that had been shaken and hit from this hit starts to rumble and vibrate slightly. It is going to fall over. There are four ways it can go and let's say it's one to the right
00:34:22
Speaker
to the south. What's the best way of doing this? One, two, three, four. North so they can do it. North, east, south, west. North, east, south, west, one, two, three, four. It's going once, it's going north. This massive tower
00:34:39
Speaker
out from its current point and collapses onto the ground, marginally missing.

Banishment and Strategy

00:34:44
Speaker
You've got a bit of it here, Helena. That's literally marginally missing, Helena. So you see this massive moment come tumbling down behind you. You can see it's still smoldering with the ash and smoke of the fireball that Castan released earlier. In the place of this monument, you see a creature standing tall,
00:35:06
Speaker
and wailing as you look at this creature it looks like the figure of a woman wrapped in blooded black sheets its palms are open in front of you and its face and head are knocked back instead of eyes there are these two stakes sticking out of both eyes and out of hands are these two huge mouths with teeth out of palms of these hands and instantly you can hear this
00:35:33
Speaker
groaning grieving noise just kind of run your paw into the air filling your ears and this noise is incessant coming from three mouths practically as it sounds like a horde of creatures but it's all coming from this one being they must roll to see where they go in the
00:35:53
Speaker
turns to see you, the ground around you of the ash and silt of this monument starts to swirl in circles around this creature forming almost like a protective cyclone around this creature and as the wind spins it picks up these groans and moans as it spins around this figure moving faster and faster and faster. You notice though this pressure starts emanating your heads
00:36:20
Speaker
that seem to come directly from this wind. It turns to, oh, it just happens to be looking at you, Castan. The only person it's technically looking at, which happens to be you, Castan, if you see this humanoid-looking figure wrapped in this blooded sheet just appear out of the ground, the first thing it's going to do is release. This is a morning whale. Not a morning, this is a morning. He had the joke, it's my favorite joke. A man walks into a graveyard and sees another man squatting down next to a grave and says, morning. He goes, no, I'm just taking a shit.
00:36:52
Speaker
We set up this great baddie and then- The first thing that it does is, so the first thing that conduct casters life is... Fuck! And it's going to point these two hands out of the pines of turns towards you as the noises get more and more intense and intense and this actually affects everyone within a 60 foot radius that is not undead. So all three of you, can you all make a wisdom saving throw please? Is this a spell? Yes.
00:37:17
Speaker
Can I? I'd like to do my reaction then. Okay, bear with me for just a second on that. Bear in mind, Casey, you're indomitable as well, so if you fail, you can re-roll. And you can have four out of the inspiration. You can have the inspiration if you need it. Just remind me what you can do. And you're going to use your reaction. So we'll just go with those who aren't doing anything different yet. Twenty-one. Twenty-one, so you pass that.
00:37:39
Speaker
If it's my counter spell, what if it's a spell? Oh, you're doing counter spell. I'm doing counter spell. Sorry, sorry, go ahead then. So, if it's casting, if it's a third level or lower... It is a third level spell. Yeah, or lower, it fails and has no effect. Okay, so...
00:37:52
Speaker
and to sort of start holding out the memories of how to stop. He's pulling at his neck and pulls out a chain, which has various religious symbols on it. A bit like the guy from the moment, he sort of finds one that sort of works and sort of waves at it and sort of sends some magical energy towards whatever this is. And as you do that, the two hands seem to get pushed back and the spell is instantly stopped for a second, the sight flown around you.
00:38:18
Speaker
pauses for a second before picking up again, but you have managed to counter that spell so you don't need to use any of your roles. So you've used the counter spells as a third level counter spell back. That's that creature's turn. Now we go to the top of the round, cast down. This thing is just appeared from- So it starts off only with his various religious symbols, sort of going through them, sort of waving at them. Can it make a charisma saving focus?
00:38:47
Speaker
That's 11. It's failed. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry. 15. It's still failed. What are they, 20? So I've cast Banishment on it. Okay. So if Tali is native to this plane, it goes to a harmless thermoplane. If it's native to a different plane, it will go there. Bear with. Just checking, there's a lot of information on this creature.
00:39:15
Speaker
The creature suddenly just disappears from this plane and seems to have disappeared and no longer exists. Okay, cool, gone. That's my... Actually it's a... I assume this is quite high, I can't actually see, but it's probably 10 foot high. Guys! I sort of... sort of peered around on the other face but...
00:39:40
Speaker
You can see that they're still there. Please, it's managed to banish this creature either temporarily for a minute or if it's not native and my spell doesn't end in the minute, it can permanently banish there. Amazing, lovely. So remind me if it's native to this plane. So if it's native to this plane, it goes to a harmless demi-plane where there is incapacitated, it remains there until the spell ends, at which point it reappears in the space it left or near to an occupied space. Gotcha.
00:40:07
Speaker
If the target is made for a different plane than the one you're on, the target is banished from the faint popping noise returning to a tower plane. If the spell ends for a minute to pass, the target reappears and the spell is left. Otherwise, the target does not return. Okay, lovely. Thank you very much for that. Eleanor, your turn. This tower has just fallen inches away from you and this skeleton is still up in your face. What do you want to do? Yeah, it's probably gonna... I'm gonna see this tower fall pretty...
00:40:37
Speaker
Thankful that I'm it didn't catch me and know that we you know and knowing that this thing's just been and gone Don't know what's around us. We don't know what's around the corner We don't know if anything else is gonna pop up at us. We do know that this guy in here It's been quite easy to kill them so far so we need to just get this sink on so we can move on Okay, so I do the deed do that deed advantage
00:41:02
Speaker
15, 10, 25 to hit. No advantage, let's see if you go for crit. 25, yeah that absolutely hits. 10 bludgeoning. 10 points of bludgeoning now as you bring your mace down hard on the other side of this creature knocking out some of the bones again from it within it but still standing. Great, second hit. Still about to hit. So 22 to hit.
00:41:32
Speaker
and lots of balls on here and 10 bludgeoning dice. It's really easy to take the HP off when you round it up and look into 10 and it makes it very nice. 37, 27, 17. I'm just going to give it some more health back. 179, that's what I know.
00:41:50
Speaker
So you take another swing at this creature, knocking again, lower hip maybe towards the femur, the leg taking big chunks and chips out of its leg as it lets out this growl towards you as it realises its time on this plane is limited, thank you very much. He's going to then take a hit back at you. Yeah, 22 to hit.
00:42:07
Speaker
Sentinel attack. Nice, okay. You still make the hit, but because you hit someone that I'm near, I get a hit as a reaction. I love fighters. Okay, so that's what we have. Sentinel, we've done the feat. Have I, do I go first with you? Yeah, you go, you go. Oh, so 10 points of slashing damage, 3 points of necrotic, so that's 1 point of necrotic. 11. 11 in total.
00:42:39
Speaker
Glory be to the realm. Do I double the dice or do I roll it twice?
00:42:46
Speaker
We played double the dice. We roll the dice twice, don't we? Yeah. We roll the dice twice. Okay, that is 11 points of slashing damage. As this creature reaches out to take his swing at Halimah, you try and catch it before, so catching it at the start of the net, as it rolls deep, because I imagine you have to kind of push your halberd out almost one-handed and Muslim like a pirouette-y kind of stamping motion. Catching it slightly, not putting it off and managing
00:43:12
Speaker
to cause some damage to Helena, but managing to do your own damage as well as its shoulder joint seems to start hanging the hand that it was currently attacking with. That's the end of its turn. It's now your turn again, fell short. I will... Yeah, I'll do another attack after the bastard. That is a 16 to hit. That hits.
00:43:41
Speaker
14 points of slashing damage. That creature has been hewn in twain and has fallen from the realm of existence. I'm not sure about what's happened and not really able to see that the banishment happened but no there was a thing there. I'll then go 5-10.
00:43:59
Speaker
you see it's about 10 foot up so i'll go the rest of my movement there and i'll be on top of the ruined obelisk looking at the point where the creature was and now i see visibly that there's no creature there so that's the end of my turn lovely it is i'll just give you the loadout it is from this plane so we'll be coming back
00:44:17
Speaker
So, do you want, we can use this as a couple of seconds if you want to do any talking whilst this is waiting. So, as Carson sort of, uh, Carson sees him, he sort of pants a little bit, um, so he can fit his sweat on his brow, going, whew, I don't know how long I can keep that away, guys. What's, what's, what's going on? Whatever that...
00:44:38
Speaker
lady with the stakes in her eyes was. I didn't see her, I was too busy killing these skeletons. Can you just, can you explain? It rose up out of the ground, it had stakes in its eyes, it had eyes where its hands were. Hands where its mouth were. Mouth where its hands were and I just reacted and I bashed it. Enough of this chaos. What can you see? There's nothing here. If it is to return I'd suggest packing up a bee. Yes, I would too.

Final Showdown

00:45:07
Speaker
Oh, take cover behind the ruined mausoleum or something. I'll be here. Can you take it on your own if I'll stop? Well, no. But I'll totally get the first hit here. We'll be ready. We can go back onto the top of the hill, Your Majesty. I've actually managed to slow it up. Yes, I do. And sort of look down on it and go from, I think I've written a book, two-sided a pincer? But I cannot tack unless I am near it. Yes, but you could then charge in and use the momentum to...
00:45:37
Speaker
No, I much prefer to come up here with you. Okay, okay. Carson goes back up to the side. He's up on the hill waving down about 30 odd 35 feet away probably from the combat as the two martial characters position themselves on this ruined obelisk waiting for this creature to return.
00:45:58
Speaker
I think we literally. And there's a silence as there's a weight and the karma starts to subsiding. So I'm going ready in action in the event that the creature reappears. I'm going to take a attack at it. I'm also ready to crossbow shot. I'm picking from the crossbow, found on the ground right now. So you're still from there, from where you currently are. Yeah. Because you're kind of, your catch fells drop. Oh, I thought I'll have angled sort of straight away. I'll assume you would if it's fine. Shoot me in the ass. I'm not the fucker. Anything you want to do? Do you want to ready something as well?
00:46:30
Speaker
put my shield away. Yeah, absolutely. And get my other flail out please. Hell yeah, we're going double flail. And you are proficient in dual weapons I believe. Yeah. Silence falls and you can start to re-hear your kind of heart beat as your breath starts to slow from all three of you. If you pack your brow down, re-change your weapons as hell and you switch to your dual flails
00:46:53
Speaker
Car stands there, shaking with a crossbow, waiting for this creature to reappear. And then suddenly, with the same pop that disappeared, this thing appears directly between Helena and Felsdrop. And instantly, Felsdrop's halberd comes crashing down upon it. Roll to here, please. Natural 20. Damn, Daniel. 14 points of slashing damage on the first attack. Thank you very much.
00:47:24
Speaker
20 something to hit. Yep, that hits. And 13 points of stashing, sorry 12 points of stashing on the subsequent attack. 12. Yeah. Lovely. Thank you very much. Cool. So it's taken a big old- That was my ready action from a- Yeah, no, it was a ready action. Yeah, as his head hits- My flails are behind my head and yeah, as soon as I, we'll get, I'll just pull them straight out and
00:47:53
Speaker
Hit, hit it. Hopefully one of my left hand will come in at its neck and my right hand will come down sort of like below the stomach. Nice awesome I like it. Okay 23 hits. That hits. 12 bludgeoning. 12 bludgeoning. Damn it. Are I still at an advantage? Yes. I didn't do the advantage but no advantage.
00:48:23
Speaker
That's 100% correct. Unicorn hashtag, no, ah, unicorn correct. Unicorn correct. Okay, so roll double damage. Unicorn correct. Oh my god, so what's that, 10, eight. That's an eight, and four, that's plus six, plus six, was that right? That's 24 points of bludgeoning damage. No, you're never plus six, once, then. Oh, I'm sorry, clear. That's fine, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, then. 18 points of bludgeoning damage, damn. You can swing at a single attack. Single attack. You do all of them, you get your bonus attack.
00:48:53
Speaker
How do I do that? Basically, you've gone 1-2 with your lead hand, your right hand, and then you get, because you get your bonus action to use your opponent on the benefits. Do my roll to hit. So that's 26 to hit. Yep, you hit. And unicorn crits, acre 6. 14 points of damage.
00:49:16
Speaker
So you're just absolutely pummeling on this creature as it stands there mowing in grace. The wind starts to pick up around you again, the cyclone continues around you. Thank you very much. You also cast and you also had it ready to action. So Karthon feeds it up here and like pulls the trigger of his crossbow. 26. That hits. You guys are rolling so well.
00:49:41
Speaker
that takes 10 points of just normal piercing damage. Normal piercing damage has been taken, thank you very much. It then is going to take its turn for the first time, I think. Yeah, that's an idea. I mean, it's worth it. Firstly, what it's going to do is it's going to try a similar, it gets into the same position as I'm pointing a hand out to either of the two creatures, either side of it. So, hell of a hand.
00:50:08
Speaker
The first drop is going to point a hand out to either of these mouths that seem to be screaming in your ears as this morning sound starts to pick up and become louder and louder and actually spreads to a 60-foot radius, so cast on. Yeah, cast on is going to include you as well in this. Can you please make wisdom saving throws? I'm going to use endowment to
00:50:36
Speaker
Okay, Danny, as fell short, what did you get? Nineteen. Nineteen, so you pass, you are fine. Car stand, what did you get? Eight. Eight, you failed. Yeah. And Helena, what did you get? Sixteen. Sixteen, means it beats, you just passed it. You just passed it. Kel-san. Oh, not Kel-san, keep saying it. Car stand. Car stand. Think about car.
00:50:59
Speaker
I know that Kel's not in the middle of the characters, so it's kind of like you're getting confused. Silly me. You are now frightened. Yeah, I forget. For one minute, you can repeat your saving throw at the end of each of your turns.
00:51:11
Speaker
But with disadvantage, if you're within earshot of this creature, so within the 60 foot, probably further for you because you're so perceptive, you can hear them from miles off. So that's your problem. You go, use your strengths against you and you pass it. So yeah, you two pass, this discordant noise spreads from the center. You manage to both resist it. At the urge, you just turn and run away from this disgusting creature subsides and you can return to your senses. Top of the round, you're running.
00:51:39
Speaker
Oh, no, it just says, I can't willingly move closer. Yeah. So, the card stands, and I'll be like, oh, shit! And so, drops his crossbow. And doesn't quite, he's a bit unsure. He sort of looks towards Belstrop and says,
00:52:09
Speaker
over the face. And so we're going to give you inspiration. Thank you. Inspiration. That's the point of my bonus action. And then doing the only thing he knows how to do. I'm going to viciously mock the woman. Let's just say, oh, pansy.
00:52:30
Speaker
You're ugly! Brilliant. And couldn't you make a wisdom saving throw please? She can. 25. Yeah, that's a good roll. So, she passes. In that case, nothing happened in Sarah, nothing. She does not, unfortunately, take any damage if she passes the wisdom. Saving throw. Helena, your turn. What do you want to do? Save again, because I've got, well, I've just hit on the side of the lady's body.
00:53:00
Speaker
Yeah, it's hit the other side of the lace body and she's going to just take it again and probably do it the other way round. So, you know, swing back, so the left hand goes sort of by the bum and the right hand goes up at the front of the face. 27, so hits. That hits. 12, bludgeoning. Lovely, thank you very much. Texas First hit, hit to the face. And 16 hits. Meets and beats.
00:53:30
Speaker
11 bludgeoning damage. Thank you very much. You also have your bonus hand now as well. Yep, they still hit, thank you. Great. 23 to hit. 23 hits. And then 7 bludgeoning damage. You guys are rolling. So what was fifth suggestion? Should I have only taken my safe throw for fright at the end of my go? Or is it an action? What's it say? Oh no, take it.
00:53:57
Speaker
A frightened target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns with disadvantage if you're within earshot. So yes, you can. Oh, cool. 21. Disadvantage. I rolled a 19 and a 18. Fuck me. Yeah, so suddenly this wave of virtual fear washes off you at the end of your turns. Having insulted it, I feel a bit better about myself. You did. Thank you. It is sharp and pointed. It looks a little tear comes out of its creature's eye.
00:54:24
Speaker
Lovely, thank you very much. They don't exist anymore. Straight to fast drop, your turn. Okay, I'm going to make my two attacks a day. 16 on the first. Hits. Okay. 10 points of slashing damage. Make a second attack. 25.
00:54:50
Speaker
13 points of slashing damage. Building an action surge. Action surge. You're doing all again, kids. Wrong dice. Good enough inspiration. 20 non-natural. 20 hits. 7 points of slashing damage. Lovely. And a fourth attack. Fighters.
00:55:17
Speaker
Not so good. 14. Oh, you missed. Oh my god, you missed it. It finally manages to hold up as furious attack as this habit comes thrashing down. Helena, you see the fells drop just going to absolutely tire on this bitch, taking hits and hits and hits out of it. The creature then, on its turn, stands up and is kind of over with you all and isn't happy with this all. And it's going to let out this discordant Friday.
00:55:42
Speaker
When she's getting her hands, she points up and puts her hands up towards either side of her actual mouth to make like three mouths, of course, as she kind of calls up and out. This disturbing hymn seems to echo through the air. Can you both, so Helena and Felseroth, please make wisdom saving throws. Fifteen. Natural one. Ninety-one, baby. I failed to say it. Goodbye.
00:56:13
Speaker
You both take 24 points of necrotic damage as he seems, wisps of black mists that picked up in the cyclone moving around, you wisp into your ears as his necrotic damage seems to seep into your being and you harm for Elinor because you are fuel resistant to necrotic damage. And then as his bonus action,
00:56:38
Speaker
it's going to pull its hands across its chest and throw them open, releasing this wave of sand which hits over you and everyone within 50 foot radius, which includes you as well, can you all make constitution saving throws, please? Helena, what'd you get? 22. That passes, thank you very much. Cast that, 14. That fails. 25. 25 passes, so this is going to affect all of you. So, you, so, Helena, it fails, you take,
00:57:13
Speaker
cast down, you take 18 points, sorry, yeah 18 points of thunder damage and you are stunned. You are stunned for one minute. And you two are now also in for things done for 24 hours. Well, from that speller, basically it's like if you pass it, it overall works on you. Okay, so they're powerful, but if you pass it, that's it. That's the end of its turn, whatever you want. You're stunned at the top of the round. So, sort of, sort of,
00:57:43
Speaker
Gotta have a rock spark and go, oh, oh dear. And you can't do anything. Can't do anything, thank you very much. Helena, your turn. There's always this crucial tummy, I'm out of pain. Yeah, I feel frustrated. Also, Helena fills for straight tissue and she's angry and she's agitated and she gets both of her flails and she does another sort of swing around her own body and she puts all of her body weight in trying to whack this thing off, off, off this tubby thing. Okay, lovely. Gives her all her head in peace.
00:58:13

25 to hit. That hits. Can I have my D8 thing? Of course you can. Apologies. I see. He's not sorry. Uh, 10 bludgeoning. Yeah, that hits. You capture this creature square on the side of the jaw. The jaw seems to want to move out the opposite way. Fantastic. Oh, if I'm still on it. 16 hits. Meets of beats. 10 bludgeoning.

You laughed him, but I didn't. Thank you very much. You took another shot on the same bail, the same jaw, the jaw falls off. One of the mouths no longer is working. Oh my, yeah, that's good. My bonus is 26 to hit. That hits. With seven bludgeoning. Doesn't matter when you had two health points, it's the final hit. Hits into the inside of the head, your flail actually gets stuck in its head.

And that's what we're going to leave it for this week's episode. The Fellowship of the Tabletop. Thank you so much. Good bit of combat on that one, guys. Great work on a new character for all three of you. Amazing stuff. Fireballs banishing, dual wielding, action surging, loads of stuff going on. Super exciting. Thank you very much. Next session we'll probably swim back over and see what the rest of the party are up to and see what's going to happen. But well done. Well done, guys. Great stuff. Thanks, Pat.

You can ask us any questions, get involved, ask us any questions you might be interested in knowing the answers to, and maybe we'll just tell you the answers, or maybe not. Who knows, really? Who knows? But you can find me at Hasterly World DM. Danny, where can we find you? At Total Clarity Thrills, Will. At Natural20, Will. Casey. At Unicorn Quit.
