Ep. 3 - And Just Like That...Gaga Rocked, The Derby Flopped, and Khloé Popped

Oops!! We're Talking Again...
Avatar
46 Plays1 year ago

After a brief, slightly unplanned hiatus (blame anniversaries and illness), your favorite long-distance duo is back, and our takes are as hot as ever.

We kick things off with Lady Gaga’s history-making Rio concert and then enter our weekly segment “What’s In and What’s Out,” where we passionately debate location sharing—is it intimacy or surveillance? (Hint: it's both.)

We attempt to care about the Kentucky Derby and NASCAR (spoiler: we don't), before diving into the Season 3 trailer of And Just Like That..., where Jason gives a live blind reaction that no one asked for but everyone deserves. We debrief on shows like White Lotus, YOU, Hacks, and Real Housewives of Miami—including a moment of silence for Bethenny Frankel’s social media spiral.

We close things out with some chaotic energy: the possible arrival of Real Housewives of Seattle, Khloé Kardashian’s mystery popcorn, and the early reviews of Katy Perry’s new tour (they’re not good, and Jason tries to sing one of her songs, so... you’re welcome?).

So grab your popcorn (not Khloé’s), maybe share your location (maybe don’t), and let’s talk again.

Introductions and Long-Distance Friendship

00:00:04
Speaker
Hey, it's Oscar from Minneapolis where the winters are cold. And I'm Jason in Seattle where the coffee is bold. We've been besties forever since way back when.
00:00:15
Speaker
We even have the same birthday. Fate had a plan back then. Now miles apart, but the gossip's still hot. Pop culture, hot takes. Best believe we got a lot.
00:00:26
Speaker
So get comfy, grab a drink, and turn up the sound. Oops, we're talking again. So it's time to stick around.
00:00:37
Speaker
Hi, Bestie. Hi, Bestie. I miss you. i miss you more. all as you should.

Anniversaries and Celebrations

00:00:47
Speaker
Actually, I usually don't, but like when we don't talk for two weeks like this, I ah really do miss you. Yeah, i I'm excited to catch up with you.
00:00:58
Speaker
ah We took an unexpected hiatus last week with the pod. i think both of our lives were a little chows, and we both were just super busy.
00:01:11
Speaker
But we're we're glad to be back. Yeah. Well, you should tell people why we were ah taking a little bit of time off because we had you know important events in our life.
00:01:23
Speaker
Well, we both, I know I had spoke about it on the pod, but I celebrated my anniversary with my partner and then you just celebrated your anniversary as well.
00:01:35
Speaker
Yeah, four years and six years, right? Yeah, so yeah, four for me. So now we're I guess we are technically entering our fifth year. Then you guys are entering your seventh year. Yeah, it's craziness. Time flies because I just, we say this every episode, but we've known each other for so long. But to have now known each other so long with each other's significant others has been just quite quite the fun journey because all four of us get along so well.
00:02:03
Speaker
Remember when we used to joke about we know each other for almost a decade? Yeah. And now it's check
00:02:12
Speaker
now it's going on almost two decades. It's been a long time.

Dining Experiences and Travel Stories

00:02:16
Speaker
Well, tell me about um what did you do for your anniversary? We did a very nice dinner in this place called Butcher's Table. It's a steak restaurant and um it has like very high end Japanese Wagyu and ah they call it five star marble steak.
00:02:36
Speaker
and we had oysters and i walked in with this sparkly suit that i wore to the met gala last i saw the photo and remember everyone check out his instagram so you can see the picture too i should open it to like not private people can see it oh that's right you are under private i like my privacy i would ever whore you would add anybody that adds you
00:03:06
Speaker
Because I'm what? Attention whore.
00:03:12
Speaker
I love you. Okay, but you walked in wearing on this gorgeous outfit. it It was so sparkly. And I kid you not, every single woman in the restaurant come up to me and be like, I love it. I know i want to know where.
00:03:29
Speaker
You got it. And we got like free dessert and appetizers. Oh my gosh. Yeah. The people were just obsessed with like our vibe in the restaurant.
00:03:42
Speaker
I love it. Oh, yeah. Sounds like such a perfect night. Yeah. they They just love like a cute gay couple. You know, everybody in there is like older. We just came in there with our little faggy suit and they just love it.
00:03:56
Speaker
What about you? What did you do for your anniversary? Well, as everyone knows, we jetted off to Chicago. Super, super fast flights. Like you get up in the air, you don't even get to cruising altitude and then you're descending already. But we just spent a short weekend.
00:04:12
Speaker
We flew out on ah Thursday and we're supposed to fly back on a Saturday, but ended up extending our stay one more day because we were having so much fun. So we came back on Sunday. but um We went out to see the Irish dance show Riverdance.
00:04:27
Speaker
And then um we went to a couple nice dinners and caught up with a couple of friends in Chicago and got drunk and had fun. and And if anyone gets a chance to stay at the Virgin Hotel in Chicago, please do so. It was just such an amazing experience. And ah Richard Branson has ah penthouse suite there, and that's where he stays when he visits Chicago. And we were able to stay in that room, and it was just a very, very nice romantic experience.
00:04:55
Speaker
Went by really, really fast, but I'm glad we were able to escape and Minnesota for little bit. And especially with the weather changing, it was nice to to just kind of explore different part of the north.
00:05:09
Speaker
the north Yeah. And if your friends in Chicago are listening, i know the tea. ah There's a little tea. We can't we can't spill it on the pod, but it there's. And I can't wait to meet you guys someday.
00:05:25
Speaker
yeah Oh, yes. They're they're super, super fun, fun, fun boys. And and we'll leave it at that.
00:05:36
Speaker
Anyways. So, Jason, what are you drinking today? My boyfriend just poured me a very nice glass of white wine from the place that I took you.
00:05:48
Speaker
yeah the wine store in Pike Place. Oh, that that wine store. It's like kind of like an Italian deli slash grocery slash wine bar. Yeah, they have an old selection from Europe wine up there, and we picked this one.
00:06:05
Speaker
I don't even know what that is, but tastes really good. It looks really good. ah What about you? What are you drinking? I'm just here with my pink tumbler that you got me. The Bellagio. From the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
00:06:21
Speaker
I'm just drinking H2O tonight. A little boring, sorry. Do you want to share why? Well, it goes back to maybe our hiatus of last week, but it's just been going through it.
00:06:35
Speaker
Yep. to some health issues that I, um people who are listening should know that as you know your best friend, I am always worried and wanted to take care of you.
00:06:49
Speaker
And it was scary a little bit. about I'm literally totally fine. i am just on antibiotics, so I'm not allowed to drink alcohol. And I'm not actually allowed to eat a lot of things. So have it about another week and a few days left.
00:07:04
Speaker
And this not related to the UTI. No, this is something separate. That UTI has been long taken care of. Thanks for bringing that one up again. i appreciate that.
00:07:15
Speaker
But no, this is something separate, a little more serious, but definitely fixable. And it just is taking some time, but I'm i'm going to be fine. There's nothing to worry about.
00:07:26
Speaker
And it's just life. Sometimes life throws us curveballs and we just have to make the best of it.

Gaga's Record-Breaking Concert and Fan Interaction

00:07:32
Speaker
Exactly. All right, so let's get into some of our topics for the week. Well, I was going to make a joke about how we should have a Gaga segment on every of these podcast episodes, but I think that might turn some of our listeners off.
00:07:48
Speaker
ah But we once again can't go an episode without bringing up current news of Mother. And last night she performed in Rio in Brazil. Her Mayhem performance, she...
00:08:02
Speaker
shattered ah record world record performance attendance. um That's right. 2.5 million people attended her show last night. Well, we're we're recording on Sunday. So that was last night, Saturday.
00:08:16
Speaker
um So this past weekend for the listeners, but, but yeah, that was on the Rio beach performance. She beat out Madonna who previously had the record of 1.7 million people at the same exact festival.
00:08:30
Speaker
My favorite part about this is that Gaga and Madonna has had the longest beef for the longest time. And Gaga beat out Madonna on this.
00:08:41
Speaker
And I bet that privately, Madonna is having a fit right now. And I love them both, okay? But I'm just so happy that Gaga has a win. I have a bit of an opinion on this as well. i I love Madonna's music.
00:08:56
Speaker
I hate her personality. I always have. And i I just have. And i I've always said that. And Gaga, I think for me, once again, I'm biased because I literally am i beyond obsessed with her. But she is all around from a parasocial relationship can understand is such a great person and such a good soul.
00:09:19
Speaker
And she deserves this. And that's not to say Madonna didn't deserve it either. She that's incredible. 1.7 million, but for two and a half million people to show up for Gaga,
00:09:31
Speaker
what was just I saw the visuals and the photography from helicopters in nearby apartments, and it was just insane, be the gravity of that performance and the energy and all the people. and i i just thought it was really, really special.
00:09:48
Speaker
I just thought that her gratitude to her fans were just so amazing. like I think she sent out- um she's She released a statement this morning, thinking, and just go to her Instagram to look it up if you haven't read it, but it is just, she she was so eloquent. I don't have it right in front of me. ah Otherwise, I probably would read it. But- um She was so eloquent in how she spoke about the performance and and her fan base.
00:10:17
Speaker
And she's beent she hasn't performed in Brazil in about, I believe, over 10 years. So I think they were they've just been waiting and they showed up. and ah Oscar, was that you that screamed Gaga? Viral clip. Gaga!
00:10:33
Speaker
So if you don't know what we're talking about, there is a viral clip of a specific fan screaming outside of her hotel, just wanting her because all these fans were outside of the hotel that she was staying in.
00:10:46
Speaker
And it was so funny. Well, let's listen to the meme real quick. Yes, let's do it.
00:10:58
Speaker
yeah
00:11:05
Speaker
da It's so dumb.
00:11:09
Speaker
And only true Gaga stans are going to understand some of these memes. But I think that's so funny. What's even funnier is then Gaga released a statement saying something along the lines of, I am just so blessed that i you know that I'm here. And she was like, every time I tried to get some sleep, I could hear all my fans outside.
00:11:34
Speaker
All I could imagine is that one person. And then she sent out pizza to everybody that was out outside of the hotel in true Gaga fashion, taking care of her fans, which I thought was so sweet.
00:11:45
Speaker
I didn't know about this. Yeah, so she she did. She released a little like statement about how she literally couldn't really they sleep because of all the noise and then still sent out pizzas.
00:11:57
Speaker
Well, that's why she's mother. Yes. but Just had to touch on that. We can move on from Gaga because we talk about her. And and in an honor, if you can see what I'm wearing. This is actually an art pop sweatshirt that one of our really good friends ah got me for, believe it was my Christmas present one year.
00:12:15
Speaker
But I love this sweatshirt. So I'm wearing it in honor of her record-breaking attendance performance yesterday. Yes. on The recognition she deserved. Back in the day for art pop that she didn't get. Yeah, this is yeah this is yeah specifically an art pop. So it's one of her best records. So go listen. Go stream.
00:12:39
Speaker
Unfortunately, this is not a Gaga podcast because if it was, our listener base would be very small. Well, maybe not. But 2.5 million people in Brazil might tune in. Exactly.

Privacy Concerns and Digital Streaks

00:12:51
Speaker
all right. So we're going to...
00:12:53
Speaker
you much
00:12:59
Speaker
Shut up. Chows.
00:13:02
Speaker
All right. So we're going to head into a segment that we attempted last episode, but we actually had some audio problems. So if some of you didn't catch on what we were trying to do, our new weekly segment will be what is in and what's out.
00:13:16
Speaker
So Jason, do you want to kick us off here? For sure. i think what's out for me is location sharing. So elaborate on that. So if you live under a rock for the last 20 years, you wouldn't know about location sharing.
00:13:32
Speaker
I'm just joking. But, you know, like Snapchat, find my friends on iPhone. I think it's really out. Because I think sharing your every move is basically exposing too much of your personal life.
00:13:45
Speaker
And most of the time when you share your location, you forgot that you already shared with a friend. And then, you know, you you get caught in a white light. You would tell them, I'm almost there.
00:13:56
Speaker
And then you're not. You haven't left the house. You're still in the shower. Yeah. You're still jerking off in the shower. Oh my god. Yeah. You did this to me one time. yeah and and And it's actually really scary sometimes because like you got stalkers, you know, on Snapchat, for example.
00:14:18
Speaker
i realized that I shared my location with people on Snapchat. Oh yeah, I'm on Ghostbought on Snapchat. No one can see where I'm at. And then one time this random guy like texted me like, oh, you're in my town.
00:14:32
Speaker
And I was like, oh shit. No. So it's out. it's It's just not safe for you Just make sure that every time you share your location, you have an end date and make sure you only share with people you trust.
00:14:44
Speaker
Yeah. For me, i think it is pretty much out, but I do have a couple of caveats to that. I do believe it can be a really great tool for safety.
00:14:55
Speaker
Say you're going on a first date or you are going, you know, to ah you're traveling alone and you just really want to know maybe your parents or your best friend or someone to know exactly where you are at all times. It would make sense.
00:15:09
Speaker
But in general, It's pretty out for me. I think for a number of reasons, i I understand why these services exist and are available on these platforms, kind of like what I just explained.
00:15:22
Speaker
But I think like in general, As humans, we don't always have to be so connected to technology. We don't always need to know where everybody is at all times. I think it's okay to have trust in each other and to allow people to do the things that they want to do and not feel like they're being surveilled all the time.
00:15:47
Speaker
1000%. That's kind of how I feel. But I do understand the importance of it in specific situations. So for me, location sharing is definitely out, but I do think that there are some exceptions.
00:16:00
Speaker
And those exceptions revolve around safety. Yeah. Also, like when we grew up as kids, we didn't need to share our location. We have to learn safety. Yes. The right way.
00:16:12
Speaker
and even as us in our generation, it it was a little different time than it is now. And I understand parents like wanting to know, especially in, we live in cities, right? So especially wanting to know like where their children are and who they're hanging out with and needing to know everything about everybody that they're around.
00:16:31
Speaker
And sometimes it's okay not to know and to once again, have trust in you, in the child that you rose and that you brought up that they have good values and morals and not need to know all the time and not have to worry about them.
00:16:45
Speaker
It's different. It's a case by case situation and scenario. I think, especially when dealing with children that have phones, mean, most children nowadays have phones. I definitely didn't have a phone until I was in high school. That was just the way things were back then. and but But I understand why parents today feel the need to keep tabs on where their children are at all times, but I don't always think it's necessary.
00:17:10
Speaker
Agreed. Yeah. All right. What about you? What's what's in and out for you? Well, I think what might be in, and we could debate it, is maybe streaks. We can talk about streaks.
00:17:21
Speaker
And once again, if you don't know, if you've been if you're a boomer and don't have Snapchat... Streaks are the number of times that you communicate with somebody back and forth within, I think, a 24-hour period.
00:17:34
Speaker
And i will give this kind of fifty fifty on My partner and I communicate both through Snap daily and on text message.
00:17:45
Speaker
So we have a pretty good streak going. And i I think it's fun. I use it as entertainment. like We make sure that we snap each other at least once. Well, we snap each other more than that typically.
00:17:56
Speaker
But we find it kind of funny and like almost a game when we're traveling together because we're together to like find funny ways to get in our snap so that we don't lose our streak.
00:18:07
Speaker
So if I look at my phone, what are we at? We did lose our streak, but we're right now at 831. So 831 days. That's sweet. That's four years.
00:18:21
Speaker
i can't do the math. I don't think it is. yeah i can't do math. I have a calculator right here. yeah but What would I calculate? 831 divided I'm bad at math.
00:18:35
Speaker
You know, I i think that... two and It's two and a half years. Two and a half years. So we did lose it at at like halfway through our relationship, I guess. but But we're we're working on rebuilding that.
00:18:49
Speaker
see So I think it's in for fun. I don't think people need to be putting in societal pressure into their snap streaks. I agree. That's my opinion. I agree. i think it's just a fun thing to do.
00:19:01
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, it's low pressure. It's like a high five, like on a daily basis, right? Yeah. You, I, I mean, I like it. I think it's in as well.
00:19:13
Speaker
i have a, um, have a random streak right now with a stranger on Duolingo. um my gosh you have to tell me about this. Yeah. so i Because I'm not on Duolingo and I want to learn like 10 languages. so Yeah.
00:19:29
Speaker
for For the listeners, I'm learning Spanish. So anybody can speak Spanish to me. um Please reach out. um What's that? What's that? um And in Escuela, and the Azul.
00:19:44
Speaker
Bridesmaids. Speaking of Consuela. Everybody go stream Bridesmaids the movie. It's our favorite. One of our favorites. So on Duolingo, I'm having this absurd streak with a stranger for almost 90 days now.
00:20:00
Speaker
And it was kind of like egging on each other on like who will break the streak. So is it because you're educating me since I'm not on Duolingo. So do you have to are you speaking back and forth with this person in the language?
00:20:16
Speaker
No. Like you do the lesson and then you get you do the lesson and then you can send gifts and you communicate with each other.
00:20:28
Speaker
So after you do your lesson, than you get the point for the day and then you could talk to the other person or nudge them and tell them, give them a message like, hey, you haven't done it. Like it's already 11 p.m.
00:20:44
Speaker
And then the other person will get a notification. That they have to do it. That they have to do it. Oh, that's so interesting. So, but this is a random person. Like you don't really know who they are. I don't know them that well, but they live in Seattle.
00:20:58
Speaker
Oh, wow. Okay, cool. Yeah. But it's just like, just absurd and it's fun and it makes me motivated to go on Duolingo. So yeah. Well, and then you're alert you're still learning. So it's it kind of like a win-win.
00:21:11
Speaker
Wait, and how long did you say the streak was with this person? Almost three months. Wow. Good for you. Yeah. It's my new year resolution. That's some commitment. It is to some stranger.
00:21:26
Speaker
So Jason, i have to ask, but I feel like i already know the answer. What did you think of the Kentucky Derby this past weekend? i love it.
00:21:37
Speaker
i have a feeling you have a feeling you didn't watch it. I did not. Me neither. Yeah.
00:21:45
Speaker
Neither one of us care enough. Like we tried. And here's the thing. It's been going on for so long. And I thought it'd be something I'd finally get into because you can gamble. You can bet on the race, right? I'm like, oh, that sounds like something I should do.
00:21:57
Speaker
In my whole 32 years of being on this planet, have I ever done gone to an event, gone to it, gone, watched it? Nothing.
00:22:08
Speaker
Like I've never, never one time. The only headline that I caught out of it was that Gracie Potter, I guess, sang the national anthem and did an amazing job at the Star Spangled Banner. So I may look that one up. I have not seen it.
00:22:25
Speaker
I have not listened to that yet, but I guess that made a headline, but I don't know about the race. um I live in an apartment building who did ah derby party and I wasn't feeling the best yesterday, but I was hoping to stop down. They were having mint juleps and having a contest for best dressed and they had a local burger joint cater the event um for the residents.

Celebrity Sightings and Reactions

00:22:49
Speaker
So I really wanted to make it down just just hang out for a little bit. But I didn't make it to that. That would have been probably my closest my closest experience to such event.
00:23:02
Speaker
But who knows, maybe in in the in future years, it'll be something I will add to my schedule. Yeah. I cannot wait to see you wear a ridiculous hat. hat Yeah. Fascinator.
00:23:16
Speaker
Fascinator. you I feel like you would be the one to go all out. i would. i would totally. Yeah. yeah you you would You would win that costume contest. Absolutely.
00:23:30
Speaker
mean, would have to compete with you, but think we would have gone all out. And, you know, we both like to gamble, so would love to go sometime with you. Yeah, I'd just slap a 50 down on some horse that I don't know anything about and hope that they win. Yeah. Yeah.
00:23:45
Speaker
Hope the horse is... mean, I'm sorry. I the horse is... It's fast. You can't say that.
00:23:54
Speaker
So um another thing we need to recover from that.
00:24:01
Speaker
You're something I don't know what to do with you this episode, but I'm Charles. Yeah, but clearly. Another thing I want to bring up also is um that is super straight is the NASCAR race that is going on.
00:24:16
Speaker
Because my boyfriend watched both the Kentucky Derby and NASCAR while he worked. So I get to listen. And um to today, Lisa was on the NASCAR field and she got interviewed by people.
00:24:32
Speaker
And nobody know who she is. like Why would anybody there know who she is It's so funny. And like every reporter was like clamoring trying to get a interview with her.
00:24:44
Speaker
But the people who are famous in the Nazca world were like, who is this girl? Why is she here? And she's so gracious. She's like, yeah, I'm having fun. And they're like, who do you root for? And she's like, everyone.
00:24:59
Speaker
ah What a diplomatic answer. that's so That would be me. Yeah. Once again, for people, it's like ah Lisa is member of Blackpink and was in White Lotus. So we're not talking about there's a lot of Lisas out there.
00:25:13
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. and um In other pop culture news, i'm we're a little late to the game on this, I think, bringing this up. But I want your opinions on, and just like that, the new trailer came out.
00:25:27
Speaker
Jason, you have not seen it. um Can we do a live reaction, please? We're going to pause and then I'm going to watch while you're looking and where i will tell you how I feel about it.
00:25:40
Speaker
All right, so we are going to take a quick break to let Jason watch the trailer, and then we're going to have him react to it. All right. We'll be right back.
00:25:52
Speaker
I couldn't help but wonder what's in store for season three. Oh, my God. Watch the trailer now.
00:26:05
Speaker
Oh. Oh. Oh my god, I'm gonna cry. um my god.
00:26:16
Speaker
That feels like classic. that That's like classic Sex in the City. Does it? yeah
00:26:24
Speaker
i'm I'm excited for it I thought season one was very interesting. Season two was better. And then this season three is... um I just texted you the ah official poster.
00:26:37
Speaker
So this season is called Summer in the City, which I think is great. You know, New York in the summer, and you have all the ladies together. My only critique so far... I have two critiques.
00:26:51
Speaker
Are... I loved the days of just the women being together their relationships with each other. and Do we need all the children involved?
00:27:07
Speaker
No. No. But Oscar, you have to understand that like the women who watched this back in the day are now having children of their own.
00:27:18
Speaker
And it's more relatable to that demographic. But to the gay people watching, we're like, just throw the children away. Just go hoes. Yeah. yeah That's why I like the character. Her name's Seema, right? Like she's dating and I cannot wait to see like her single life and dating. No, absolutely. Yeah.
00:27:39
Speaker
And then the love triangle with Aiden and whatever new mystery man in town. Like that's hot. I love that. No, it's going to be exciting. I can't wait. May 29th. So we still have to wait about a month until the first episode. I think they're going to do like a weekly thing. So we have like usual. So we have to wait.
00:27:58
Speaker
We have to wait. It's not like you on Netflix where they all come out at once. So mark that on your calendar and we will definitely see what we think. So then my one other critique is once again, and this has come up time and time again with the movie between the movies. And then now the show is the fashion, the clothes.
00:28:21
Speaker
I don't think young Carrie would be caught dead in half of what she's wearing. I think it is just a disgrace.
00:28:32
Speaker
It's a disgrace to humanity. It is disgrace to other women who would just get it. Whoever told her that she gets the vernacular that she thinks she possesses.
00:28:45
Speaker
Here's the thing. Here's the thing. like Like, Gen Z are fucking, like, copying Carrie's style back in the 90s. It's so bad. I'm not even kidding. Back in the 90s was better, yeah.
00:28:56
Speaker
Yeah, no. gen Young Gen Z's girls are wearing what these women are wearing in season one or two. And now, as these women...
00:29:09
Speaker
graduated to this new era in their life. Like they are abandoning all of the fashion sense and that's okay. I'm fine with that, but it's just like, just do a little bit better. Like make it more, you know, like interesting.
00:29:22
Speaker
Yeah. It's, it's pretty bad. i mean, Carrie would never even wear what is in that poster. i just sent you that poster, but it's not young. Carrie would not like, would not ever think that she would get older and wear that.
00:29:37
Speaker
It's atrocious, actually. That's my opinion. Yeah. However, i do like the vibe of this season. I'm excited. i am excited. I'm excited that there was a lot of feedback the first season and probably a little less feedback second season. And now hopefully this season is kind of knocks out of the park.
00:29:57
Speaker
o Agree. Yeah. And just like that.

TV Show Reviews and Recommendations

00:30:01
Speaker
Now, let's talk about some other good TV that had come out this year. You don't watch a lot of ah sci-fi fantasy shows, but um we are very caught up on The Last of Us and Severins and Oscar. I think those are some prestige really good TV that our listeners should watch.
00:30:25
Speaker
I really love those shows that really make us think about and the current climate. Severance is one of them. like It really messed with how we treat our work life right now because the premise of the show is you can sever your work life and your personal life.
00:30:47
Speaker
And I thought it was such a good, cool concept. And this season has given me everything i wanted. And White Lotus, you love White Lotus, right?
00:30:57
Speaker
Of course. Everybody needs to be... I don't care if you're straight, gay, bi, whatever. i don't care how old you are. i don't care anything. That show is A++++++ plus plus plus plus plus every season. you And you can start, i mean, I would start at the beginning.
00:31:12
Speaker
It makes a little more sense, but it is incredible television. i love that show. I feel like typically I'm more of a dark comedy, psychological thriller, kind of true crimey guy.
00:31:28
Speaker
Also even dry humor. like i love like ah I love a lot of different types of shows and and movies, but I will say that The Last of Us and Severance are on my list. I just haven't really gotten to them.
00:31:39
Speaker
We just talked about White Lotus and how I feel about that. I'm almost done with the latest season of You, and that's been on Netflix now for, gosh, i don't even know how many years, because I think this is season five, I believe, and that just dropped, think, a couple weeks ago.
00:31:56
Speaker
You, I definitely, if you haven't seen that, it's incredible. And of course, you stars Penn Badgley, who is probably most iconically famous for his role in Gossip Girl.
00:32:08
Speaker
But the fact that he plays this completely opposite character in this long standing series on Netflix has been such a journey for years and years now. And it's a show that I'm super, super into.
00:32:20
Speaker
Is that a show that you'd be into? Like that you would would you watch you? i would, I would. And all I knew about it was the, the meme that some lady from Fox news were like, you, like, what do you mean you? Oh my gosh.
00:32:37
Speaker
Oh my gosh. That is so funny. I'll pull that. I'll pull that clip and put it in the the episode recap on the Instagram page. Yeah.
00:32:47
Speaker
pan bashley can get it like he's so hot so hot yeah god incredible show so i'm only i think i'm a like two-thirds done i just started the last season a couple nights ago because i haven't been feeling the best but i've been been binge watching it for a couple nights now and i think i'm Getting to the end of it. And I think maybe another corrections corner next week, but I think this is the last season. i don't think they're going to bring the show back.
00:33:13
Speaker
So I think it's kind of run its course, but I will say i really liked the series and this never happens. But in my opinion, this season has been the best season.
00:33:26
Speaker
That's very rare to say about a show that's been on for so long. Normally you kind of get yeah little, they kind of get a little, yeah but this is a very strong, strong season. I love the writing and it's the twist and turns and keeps you thinking and guessing. And I'm excited to see how it all ends.
00:33:47
Speaker
And I think it will be the end of, end of the ah series. So you sold me. and I might start. So good. Start it. And knowing your partner too, I think both of you will really like the show.
00:33:59
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. I might start What do you mean you?
00:34:04
Speaker
So um another really good tv moment that happened recently was in Hacks. And I do not want to spoil you because you haven't watched that episode yet. yeah that i think I'm like two episodes behind, but I'm trying to stay on top of it because I'm loving this season.
00:34:23
Speaker
However, all I have to say is that this is so related to the podcast because if you listen to the last episode, we had a huge deb debate about poppers. And... There are poppers in hacks.
00:34:38
Speaker
Yes. No. Debra Vance. Don't tell me. poppers...
00:34:49
Speaker
Wait, she's been around these gays for decades and she's never done poppers before? yep Her first time. Okay, that's all I want to know. cannot wait for you to watch it. I think tonight now I know I'm going I was going to finish you, but now I'm going to watch the v last couple episodes of Hacks and I'm behind on.
00:35:07
Speaker
Yeah. Oh my gosh. It was iconic, honestly. You were going to love it. and Okay. Sign me up tonight. Yeah. I'm down. Well, of course, it would not be an episode of Oops, We're Talking Again without touching on The Real

Reality TV Updates and Feuds

00:35:22
Speaker
Housewives. We have to talk about it.
00:35:25
Speaker
There's been some headlines in the news this past week or so that we want to touch on. So I know, Jason, that you have not watched all the franchises of Real Housewives, but you really do love some of them.
00:35:39
Speaker
And I think one of them that I need to get you into is Miami. I don't think you've seen that franchise. Very good. They just released the new trailer for Miami. So Miami's coming back. So I just wanted to touch on that. If there's anyone listening that loves Miami.
00:35:53
Speaker
larsar Is Larsa still delusional? Of course. She's cray. yeah And we have Marisol, the, was going to say alcoholic, but alleged. She's coming back. We have, okay we we have, we have ah the the trailer looks great.
00:36:08
Speaker
So, so it looks like they did release the premiere date for the, ah they believe this is now season six. Which has spanned, i think, like a decade. It's insane how long this show has been like on pause how we've had to wait for this show If you know, you know.
00:36:26
Speaker
But I think it's June 11th is when the first episode premieres on Bravo. So I don't know if that's June 11th, Bravo, and then streaming on Peacock the 12th because they normally might take a day in between. So anyways, so June 11th, mark your calendars if you want to watch Miami.
00:36:43
Speaker
We have some other news that has come in this past week. There's alleged rumors of a new franchise filming. And Jason, do you want to maybe talk about this?
00:36:55
Speaker
Yes, in the city that I live in Seattle. So there is rumors that, whispers that Bravo is quietly filming in Seattle.
00:37:07
Speaker
And what I'm most interested to know, will it be tech-wise, tech-wise? Will it be rich lesbians with espresso martinis?
00:37:19
Speaker
What kind of people that they will cast? And I know it's going to be revolve around tech because it hasn't been one single housewife franchise around tech wives.
00:37:31
Speaker
And they are a different breed. so I can... I think it's really exciting. These rumors have actually been swirling for, i feel like a couple months now. I think that was like pre-casting.
00:37:42
Speaker
There were things leaked about them looking. And then now it looks like this is actually probably in either pre-production or they're actually in the process of filming. So I think there are quite a few alleged rumors and info out there that this might actually be happening. Yeah. Yeah.
00:38:04
Speaker
For the listeners, like my boyfriend and i was inducted to this social club in Seattle that is a very nice networking social club.
00:38:17
Speaker
And i knew that there are a lot of important tech people that belong to that club as well. And i would be gagged if one of those people are in this franchise.
00:38:33
Speaker
um because I just went to this event called Met Gala that they throw every year. And there were just a lot of crazy, wonderful, rich ladies there that I bet would make a very good addition to this show. So I cannot wait.
00:38:49
Speaker
Yeah, I can't wait either. And I think Seattle iss a great city to have ah franchise out of for a but the format of that show. In other Housewives drama, we have real estate mogul. Well, i guess that's more her husband. But we have Kyle Richards from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills purchasing $6.9 million dollar mansion adjacent to her arch nemesis, Lisa Vanderpump slash ex-co star slash rival.
00:39:19
Speaker
However, um she was outbid. So the deal fell through. She really wanted this property and the deal actually fell through and it just kind of mar reignited their feud because i they still have not really made amends from seasons past.
00:39:38
Speaker
And to me, it's interesting that she would want to purchase a property so close to her. What are your thoughts on that? I think it's kind of weird. Like, is it a coincidence or like,
00:39:49
Speaker
trolling Yeah, I didn't look up the exact property, so maybe there's a reason she wanted this. um It looks like this would have been under her name, not under the agency or Mauricio. So it's also interesting she's house hunting because obviously she's been having marital issues. So Is she looking for a home in a specific price range that she can kind of move on with her life? Is she going to continue to live under this under the same roof with Mauricio?
00:40:21
Speaker
Listen, divorce vibes, divorce vibes. ive I mean, i've I understand her mindset. And if she wants a forever home for herself, I think I respect that.
00:40:34
Speaker
But I just think is's it's such like a weird coincidence that she's buying near Lisa Vennepalm. Or wanted to buy that particular property. and Yeah. She didn't end up getting the home. so But it to to me, it's interesting. There must have been something about this house that she really that really drew her attention. And she clearly knows a lot about real estate since her whole family is in the business.
00:40:56
Speaker
so So earlier, before we recorded, you were mentioning something about Bethany Ghost Florida? Yeah, so Bethany Frankel, some with more Housewives Tea here.
00:41:07
Speaker
She's been so unhinged. I love her. She's such a polarizing human being. loved her. Sorry, I love and hate her, but I love the New York thing on TikTok. No, Chanel. just love her. Chanel.
00:41:21
Speaker
So I love and hate her. Continue. I really loved her on the show. And then we really saw her come not from rags to riches because she did come from money and grew. She was pretty privileged as growing up, but she like wasn't a housewife when she was hired for the show. Like she was very broke in rich person standards when she started at that show and she built a complete empire.
00:41:49
Speaker
And then she sold part of her business for a reported hundred million dollars to Jim and beam. And she's, kind of incredibly successful.
00:42:00
Speaker
And what's now coming out is, I mean, she moved out of the city during COVID times um of New York because of how she felt about it. They moved to the outskirts. I think she has ah property near the Hamptons and she's always been flipping houses and making money that way.
00:42:19
Speaker
and think she even had a real estate show with another Bravo Leopardy. That's what they call him. This woman has been everywhere. literally everywhere and I literally can't stand it. So her TikTok is chows. Her TikTok is um unbelievably unhinged. She needs to be stopped.
00:42:37
Speaker
She needs to be in a mental institution. she needs psychological help. And now the newest news is she is moving to Florida of all places for quote, a simpler life.
00:42:53
Speaker
What? Yes. Simpler wear. She's going to post like 50 chaotic videos a day. Like what the fuck? So Bethany, definitely not one of my favorites in this day and age, but she did pave the way for Roni. And I think that show was so iconic with her on it.
00:43:16
Speaker
I wish her the best in fucking Florida. And mean, I love Florida, but I i can't imagine living in Florida. And she has been very outspoken about the New York political situation and and all of that for years now.
00:43:31
Speaker
So I wish her the best. I feel really bad for her daughter. i want her daughter to be happy and to not be scarred from her mother's completely unhinged behavior.
00:43:44
Speaker
So we we we just, we want, we want Brynn to turn out normal. You know what? i you and I can just toast to her success of failure with a skinny girl cocktail someday soon.
00:43:59
Speaker
I will say to you, Bethany, who's not listening, that if you could do one thing for me, it would be to please bring back your cilantro lime, a skinny girl popcorn, because I bought that religiously and then you took it off the shelves. So bring it back.
00:44:14
Speaker
Then you can redeem yourself with me. Listen, like just send Oscar popcorn and you can redeem yourself. Speaking of which, Khloe Kardashian's popcorn with protein.
00:44:30
Speaker
Yes, it's getting released. I think she has an official website for that. It's called Cloud? K-L-K-L. thought that was so hard.
00:44:42
Speaker
Oh my God. K-L-O-U-D. I think that's how you spell it, Clout. That is... eight no no, no. It's Chloe. It's K-H-L-O-U-D, popcorn.
00:44:53
Speaker
And Chloe is literally chasing Clout. don't know. But of course, Momager Chris is very involved in this new business venture of Chloe's. And um it is released on her. She has a website for the popcorn and then in Target stores. So um I'm excited to try it. I think she has three flavors of the popcorn.
00:45:16
Speaker
I'm not the biggest Kardashian fans, but I do love Chris. I think Chloe is very funny. um I don't really relate to Courtney or Kim that much, but um I stopped watching their shows couple years ago.
00:45:29
Speaker
But it's entertaining to see some of the funny clips here and there that that kind surfaces memes and you see on the internet not

Celebrity Relationships and Tour Critiques

00:45:38
Speaker
one again. Yeah. I think you used to love Kylie a lot.
00:45:42
Speaker
I don't know how you feel about her now after she started dating Timothee Chalamet. Are they still together? They are. I was not aware of this. They just went to like the Oscars and whatever together.
00:45:56
Speaker
i feel like they're an um unlikely pair. I think they're cringe. Yeah, I think so too. Speaking of that, let's close out this episode with cringe of the week.
00:46:07
Speaker
Yes. What is yours?
00:46:12
Speaker
We've been talking about this all week, so I cannot wait. The amount of memes and... memes and clips that have been sent back and forth between the two of us in the past week has been insane over this topic. But can we take one second to talk about Katy Perry's flop of a tour?
00:46:37
Speaker
This is not a Katy Perry hate podcast. if We love her We just need her to stop like whatever she's doing. Yes, it's it's we We know we shit on her the other week about her 11 minutes in quote-unquote space.
00:46:55
Speaker
But girl, what are you doing? What average higher Who did you hire for choreo? What I want to know is like who is this choreographer?
00:47:07
Speaker
Because they need be they need to be fifty one fifty Like, what? i'm so confused. It's bizarre. Because then we have other pop icons on tour.
00:47:18
Speaker
We have obviously Gaga, who has a trillion tour dates this year. We have um Beyonce, who just started our tour. Then we have Katy Perry. And what is she doing on stage?
00:47:31
Speaker
She is using AI for her visuals. What the hell? Like, it looks so bad. Cringe. Low energy.
00:47:44
Speaker
I don't know what's going on on stage. What I've been seeing clips so of that tour all week. I mean, we have these incredible artists like Gaga and Beyonce on tour doing and insane things on stage.
00:47:56
Speaker
And then what is Katy Perry bringing? AI. She needs to fire her choreographer because I don't know what any of those dance moves are. What is this? what is What the fuck?
00:48:08
Speaker
the Robot chic? Bizarro. And and the death drop that was assisted and then like she was looking up. a look up yeah like The memes were funny, but girl, like give us nothing.
00:48:23
Speaker
This is a far cry from her peak days. I think she's just lost her energy for this entire tour. i agree. Yeah. And this is not a Katy Perry hate podcast.
00:48:35
Speaker
We love her. We just need her to hire better people. Girl, we're going to get Joella in here like shitting on us. You're right. I don't hate Katy Perry.
00:48:47
Speaker
i I just, I really don't listen to her. i don't, I mean, I have a couple of songs that I used to listen to her. There are just like so many artists out there just giving it their all.
00:48:59
Speaker
Yeah. And let's not forget her debut. I've been listening to some of her old songs when she was doing like her Alanis Morissette kind of vocal. like Do you remember those songs? like She was like...
00:49:16
Speaker
prior man Do you know what I'm talking about, right? Do that again. Like thinking of you.
00:49:29
Speaker
song no song let me pull up the lyrics real quick. I'm serious. going to love this. One second. Like an apple falling from a tree, I pick the ripest one.
00:49:46
Speaker
ah still got the seed. what the actual fuck is going on right now. I am thinking of you.
00:49:57
Speaker
Thinking of you. a terrorist. To the one listener that's left. Actually, it's just the two of us at this point.
00:50:11
Speaker
That was a very good rendition of Thinking of You. Okay. i'll give I'll give her that, I guess. Well, she needs to come back. to that Katy Perry, then I will go to one of her shows.
00:50:24
Speaker
Yeah, Katy Perry is not on my tour bucket list for this year. Yeah. Well, it looks like we made it through another episode, episode number three.

Episode Conclusion and Personal Plans

00:50:36
Speaker
not too much chows.
00:50:38
Speaker
Yeah, it was this was a good one. i really liked the topics that we covered. What's on your agenda for the next next week? I'm going to be watch out for any filming of possible Seattle Housewives franchise.

00:51:11

I just want you to be like, well, like, yeah, yeah like don't die on me. Like I, know you promised the plan. You promised me that I would die first. So you better outlive me.
00:51:30
Speaker
Just you wait. yeah Amount of poppers that I do. I better die first. Not just the poppers. base And what about you, baby?
