Hey, it's Oscar from Minneapolis where the winters are cold. And I'm Jason in Seattle where the coffee is bold. We've been besties forever since way back when.
00:00:15
Speaker
We even have the same birthday. Fate had a plan back then. Now miles apart, but the gossip's still hot. Pop culture, hot takes. Best believe we got a lot.
00:00:26
Speaker
So get comfy, grab a drink, and turn up the sound. Oops, we're talking again. So it's time to stick around.
00:00:36

00:01:39

Working on this show has mean so much to me. I'm joking.
00:01:46
Speaker
Thank you for being my ride or die. I always root for your success. You're fired. I was fired from the podcast. I'm being canceled. Four episodes in. This was such an exciting project.
00:02:03
Speaker
Now we can retire. yeah We've cashed No, you're not going anywhere. I won't let you. I invested too much money. Time, energy, and money. like We finally like tried to establish an actual schedule to get these episodes done.
00:02:18
Speaker
Yeah. The last three episodes has been a good trial run. And now we're on a... We found our groove. Yeah. What about you, Oscar? How have you been doing? I'm doing good. Yeah, I am finally done with antibiotics this week. So I'm excited to get back to normal life.
00:02:36
Speaker
And it's just been a rough two weeks. But I am already just so excited to be drinking again. ah Well, yes, that but I'm also just excited to like feel normal again. and The last couple of days, I feel like I've been bedridden and just like not feeling the best.
00:02:56
Speaker
It's finally like summer here. i think it was like 88 degrees yesterday. And then I think today is going to be 80 something. So it's summertime. I just want to be like outside. i want to get back into pickleball. I want to go on walks and hang out with friends. So I i can't wait to to begin summer and No more antibiotics for you. Cheers to that. No, i exactly. I'm

done. hope I never have to take another antibiotic in my life. And I'm not being sarcastic about that in any way.
00:03:27
Speaker
So what are you drinking today? i am drinking a repeat of last week of my famous white wine. It has ice in it. It has ice and a metal straw.
00:03:39
Speaker
Great for podcast. What about you? Well, I'm going to do this... yeah I don't think you know that I'm going to do this. I'm going to do this shot.
00:03:50
Speaker
Do you recognize this shot glass? I do recognize that. I got you that for Christmas. The years ago, and I already broke one of them, but it says cheaper than therapy on the shot glass.
00:04:01
Speaker
So where's my chaser? But this is 99 bananas. So call me like a 20 year old college kid. Here I go.
00:04:09
Speaker
Cheers.
00:04:13
Speaker
It wasn't that bad. Yeah, you need that much to deal with me anyway. I know. So you're drinking wine, you have your vape, and you took a Xanax. You're going be feeling really good.
00:04:25
Speaker
Also, wherere we're recording earlier than normal, so I'm curious how many naps you might be taking today. This is my Sunday. It's my day of rest. Oh my gosh. And you're in a different time zone. It's so much earlier for you. Yeah. I'll be okay. Don't worry.
00:04:41
Speaker
I love it. Well, let's get into quickly. Let's touch on the Mac Gala. It's kind of old news because it happened last week. Yeah, but it's still one of the biggest pop culture moment of the spring.
00:04:52
Speaker
And Oscar and I always ah follow the news every year. And we have our favorite moments. So what is yours, Oscar?

Lady Gaga Concert Incident and Travel Preferences

00:05:00
Speaker
I'll make mine quick, but I...
00:05:03
Speaker
was obsessed with Sabrina Carpenter's look. Oh, yes. She looked so good. I mean, she always looks good, but she's just this cute, tiny little thing. And I didn't know she was going to be there, actually.
00:05:15
Speaker
And so when I saw her pictures, i I literally thought she killed it, knocked it out of the park. Me too. I think she wore like a tailored suit, a trail, right?
00:05:27
Speaker
ah Let me pull up the photo. I don't know if there was a, you mean like a train? Yeah. I don't know if it was a full train. No.
00:05:37
Speaker
Oh, it it was. Yeah, it was. a Oh my God. I didn't even, i only saw pictures from her. You're right. I didn't, I only saw pictures from her from the front. It was even better than I thought. Holy shit. She looks incredible.
00:05:49
Speaker
Oh my gosh. I'm so glad to educate to you. She's so How did I not? I just saw literally like front forwards of her and then like close ups of her like torso and up.
00:06:00
Speaker
This entire look is just something else. That is those are some high pumps she's in. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Oh yeah. She's gonna look like um ah pine site little doll.
00:06:13
Speaker
She's like four feet tall. Yeah. She's so cute. What about you? What's your hot take? What's your favorite look? My favorite look is Coleman Domingo. I mean, he embodied the theme because I think it's dandy, which is African-American men style.
00:06:29
Speaker
And he showed up in two outfits that were both very, very cunty and amazing. But, you know, my favorite moments of the Met Gala is every little thing that goes wrong.
00:06:41
Speaker
You can't have a flawless event ever, right? So we have Anna Winter stain on her dress. Yeah.
00:06:49
Speaker
I love the meme that was like, someone's getting fired. We have Kim Kardashian's nail falling off. I didn't know about that. What happened? She was just on the red carpet and um she was kind of fixing her dress and she had like press-ons, which I don't really understand. And it just literally popped off.
00:07:09
Speaker
It's kind of funny. Someone's getting fired. Uh-huh. And then what about the rumors where Lisa and Rosa Parks?
00:07:19
Speaker
I send you this because um she was wearing a bodysuit. She looked really good. It looked really good, but she was honoring Rosa Parks and the bottom part of the bodysuit, which is technically the underwear, has faces of people in it.
00:07:38
Speaker
So people thought that that was Rosa Parks' faces. It was a rumor. what It was not. It was not. The designer came out and said it was like his friends and family. he made the flapping out that.
00:07:50
Speaker
Her team released a statement as well. They're like, no, this is not real. Fake news. Poor Lisa. Oh my gosh. She doesn't know. She's like, she's such a she's just like a very demure kind person. I don't think she means anything. No. And she looked so good. She looked great.
00:08:11
Speaker
And then the other thing with that was, I guess they wouldn't let her assistant in. So he pretended to be like paparazzi, like with a camera to get into the Macau. And it worked. I saw that.
00:08:24
Speaker
Did you see the box that Doji come in with? Yeah, I heard the drama with that. They're yelling at everybody. Yeah. And umbrellas and trying to get out of the elevator. Yeah. But, I mean, like, celebrities have have been doing the whole umbrella thing for a long time. and That's nothing new.
00:08:40
Speaker
Yeah. But, you know, bringing a whole box to hide your outfit is new. Which her outfit was great. mean, I love Louis Vuitton in general. So that outfit was something. i don't know if I have a full opinion on it.
00:08:54
Speaker
Every time I look at it, I think something different, but I definitely thought it was a choice. And i don't know if I love it or hate it but I kind of like it. Yeah. I mean, I don't know what else to say about it.
00:09:07
Speaker
I mean, I love Noji. You know love the music. Yeah, of course. I am going to get a lot of flack for saying this, but the one part that I don't like about the outfit was the LV tattoo that she put on her skin. Yeah. On her cheek.
00:09:26
Speaker
That was so cringe. Yeah. It was a little strange, but fashion. Fashion. It's all up for interpretation, opinions, and critiques. we're We're lighthearted over here. We're not going to rip on anybody

Travel Mishaps and Essentials

00:09:40
Speaker
like we rip on Katy Perry.
00:09:42
Speaker
Unless it's Katy Perry. Just kidding. We love you, Katy. Well, we'll move on from the Met Gala because we know that's kind of old news. So we just wanted to make that segment a little bit short.
00:09:54
Speaker
Well, jumping into our weekly Gaga segment, which might not be weekly, but we can't we just love her so much, so we have to talk about it. But we didn't touch on this last week because we were talking about her female artist's attendance record-breaking performance and didn't bring this up.
00:10:13
Speaker
But there was a bombing attack planned that was foiled by the Brazilian government. Gaga and her camp didn't even know about this plan of attack and the arrests until after she got off the stage.
00:10:31
Speaker
Insane. Yeah. Just chills. I know. So that made news. um I think they arrested at least one person in connection, but they think there were maybe three or four individuals involved, including underage kids. What were the motives?
00:10:48
Speaker
It sounds like there were some ties to some other extremist groups, and that's why they were able to figure this out and foil the plan. So I once again, I read this article over a week ago, so I don't exactly remember the details, but kind of scary when you have that many people in one place. But i do know that the Brazilian government.
00:11:11
Speaker
I just I just saw sorry, I cut you off. um I just read the article on this. This is wild. What is it saying? Because I kind of forgot.
00:11:22
Speaker
Like it's um it's not just like anti-gay, but it's like kind of satanic. Yeah, I remember reading something weird. It was like the reasoning behind it. It wasn't just like, oh, we hate the gays. It was like a little bit more deeper than that.
00:11:37
Speaker
Okay, now I'm scared. Well, good for Brazil to stop that from happening. know. So Jason, like what is in and out for you this week?
00:11:50
Speaker
Shit. My brain is not catching to Xanax. because you took a Xanax, had a vape, and are drinking alcohol. I feel good. i don't know what you're talking about.
00:12:03
Speaker
I'm just like, it's hard for me to talk, but I feel good. bet you do after those three substances.
00:12:15
Speaker
we both travel We like to travel. Are aisle or window seats in for you? And then is it one out for you? So do you prefer an aisle or a window seat? i prefer window seat always because um i like to rest my head when I need to take a nap.
00:12:38
Speaker
Mm hmm. and i always fly longer flights because i travel international a lot unlike you so um yeah i fly mostly domestic i do but i travel i i travel like once a month at least once a month yeah and internationally is like for me is like to mexico it's not very far you're going over to asia Also, this is kind of a self-roast because if you fly international and you want a headrest, that means you're not flying first class. so
00:13:12
Speaker
i mean, we could talk about first class if you want. I might have some bonus for you. Yeah, my preferred seat is first class. Okay, so you prefer window seat.
00:13:28
Speaker
Yeah. What about you? Well, to me, it depends. So i I typically, if I'm traveling alone, i like an aisle seat.
00:13:41
Speaker
I think we're both pretty much like, like we're especially domestically, like we were pretty loyal to Delta, right? So we're used to that airline. i can count two airlines that I've flown in the last five years that weren't Delta just because of where I was going.
00:13:57
Speaker
So i pretty much primarily fly Delta. I know that changes for you. Like when you are traveling internationally like that, you might be flying Delta or like a Delta connection, but then you have to change airlines, right?
00:14:09
Speaker
Yeah, like only on the um America to the transit ah airport, I would find out. Yeah, but I was always trying to find out every time. Yeah.
00:14:20
Speaker
So I think we had kind of have brand loyalty to to Delta as just being longtime customers of them and medallion status and all of that. But when I'm alone, I really do like the aisle seat because i like being I'm also a but ah bulkhead person, so my seat is typically, when I'm traveling alone is one seat, because I like to, a little bit of extra legroom, and I like for the flight attendants to see when my drink is empty.
00:14:49
Speaker
So then if I'm sitting in the aisle, they're more likely to come and refresh my beverage, versus if I'm in a window seat. So that's that's my like little like self-travel

International Travel and Future Plans

00:15:00
Speaker
hack when I'm alone.
00:15:02
Speaker
can Can you tell the people who are listening about your T-shirts that you guys bought on your trip? Yes, my partner got us matching sweat hoodies for our anniversary trip.
00:15:14
Speaker
This comes back to window or aisle. So when I'm traveling with him, which is ah most of the time, our seats are... ah one C and d so still bulkhead, but then I'm in the window seat. So he'll be in the aisle and I'll take the window.
00:15:29
Speaker
And when I'm with him, i like being next to the window because i just like being, i like being together with him. it doesn't bother me that he's sitting to my left. Like I don't mind the window seat and we have our little rituals on the plane. We like to play cards and we like to have some drinks and do all of them.
00:15:50
Speaker
Dumb couple things together. The only other time that I would say a window seat is in is if I'm traveling alone and God forbid I am in economy because then I can sleep and I will. I'll take a window seat and I'll just sleep the flight. I don't really have an issue sleeping on planes typically.
00:16:08
Speaker
Some people can't, but I will have my three inches of space and just like pass out. So when traveling, do you do you prefer like a paper boarding pass or do you always use your phone?
00:16:22
Speaker
I always use my phone when I can. yeah But travel internationally, you would have to use a paperboarding. And that's why I have a very nice leather case for my passport that can house my green card and my passport and any boarding documents.
00:16:41
Speaker
And it's stylish. one for I got one for me, one for my boyfriend. Yeah, you should get one too. Yeah, no, I have a i have a really cute holder for my passport too, but obviously my passport doesn't come out very often.
00:16:55
Speaker
Most of my travel once again is domestic, and unless it's to Mexico. We've been talking about planning an Asia trip together, making a couple stops. I want to go back to Europe. I haven't been to Europe in a really long time.
00:17:07
Speaker
So one day. One day. i seriously wanted to go to Japan with you. oh my gosh, that would be amazing. You're going to have to cover your tattoo when you go into the hot springs, just so you know.
00:17:19
Speaker
What do you mean? In Japan, onsen, if you have a tattoo, it means you are in the Yakuza, which is the Japanese mafia. So you have to cover it Oh, interesting.
00:17:32
Speaker
Yeah. Prepare to cover up your inner thighs. I have no tattoos on my inner thighs, Jason. but the hell? I'm joking.
00:17:43
Speaker
You're something else. You're silly today. So do you like a paperboarding pass? Yeah, I always get one. So i when I get to the airport and i check my luggage, I just always ask for a paper boarding pass because I want to throw everything in my bag and not have to worry about it, like my wallet, my phone, because i have clear and TSA pre-check. So when I go through after I drop off the bags and I'm standing in line for security, especially if I'm with somebody else or with my partner,
00:18:14
Speaker
I want to just focus on getting through security. So I have my paper boarding pass in one hand to get me through security and then everything else, including my phone, is just in my bag. Even when I go through security, I'll just keep holding on. i mean, you can hold your paper boarding pass when you're getting screened.
00:18:29
Speaker
So I don't have to worry about having my phone out for my boarding pass and then having to put it in my bag and getting through. Like I can just throw everything in when I leave the gate agent, just worry about the paper.
00:18:42
Speaker
go through and then know everything that I came to the airport with is in my bag. That is why I like it. And then also then that's a place for the baggage stickers to go on the back. So then I can have the record of like,
00:18:55
Speaker
my bags, especially if I'm flying with more than one suitcase. So that's kind of my routine is just trying to get through as quick as possible and then not having to worry about forgetting my electronic device, like my phone in my pocket, or if it's still in my hand, like it's just put away.
00:19:13
Speaker
Speaking of like me throwing everything in my bag to going through TSA, what is in your bag at the airport? Like, what do you like to pack? So I like to pack my travel essentials in my Mono's bag, which I recommend everybody get.
00:19:28
Speaker
It's a leather traveling bag that can attach to your suitcase. It also has some kind of compartments inside that you can put your laptop. I always have my reader with me because, ah you know, I'm I have a gay ADHD, so I like to at least calm myself down with reading.
00:19:47
Speaker
um So I like my readers. I also, of course, bring a bag of my daily pills, my Xanax. um Just kidding. Like, you know, like your travel

Episode Conclusion and Audience Engagement

00:20:00
Speaker
essentials, you have your medications, you have your travel documents, but I organize everything in like a way that makes sense to me. Yeah.
00:20:11
Speaker
So are you saying that you, you will come through TSA with a carry on or do you check your luggage? I will carry on every single time if I can.
00:20:22
Speaker
Really? Yeah. Even travel internationally. No. Yeah. So the only bag I would check is the big, big bag that, you know, when I go home, I always buy a bunch of things. my Oh, yeah. Like if you're going home, you definitely have to check a big suitcase.
00:20:39
Speaker
Yeah, but I like my small suitcase and then I like my monos so that I have enough things. And if the other bag got lost, I still have my bags with me that have all of my clothes.
00:20:51
Speaker
Yeah. And travel essentials. So, yeah. Gosh, we couldn't be more different. So I always, always, always check my luggage. Always. i want to go through the airport not having to have a suitcase with me or worrying about it.
00:21:08
Speaker
I want to check it get rid of it and have it Even though I have to wait for my bag, I don't care. For me, it's ah like an inconvenience to stroll through the airport with luggage. So I never, ever, ever carry on.
00:21:24
Speaker
i always check my bag. Also, then I don't have as many limitations on what I can pack because you can bring more things if you check your your bags So for me, I always check my luggage and then I have just a smaller carry on bag that output like jewelry, poppers,
00:21:47
Speaker
poppers do fit the TSA requirements. So, yeah, sometimes I do actually carry on poppers. But no, I literally do. I carry ah i carry on. the bare essentials and I literally check everything because when I'm in the airport and wanting to get to my gate, I don't want anything weighing me down. I just want to get through security, get into the airport and not have to worry about having all this extra shit with me. But that's just me. That's I know a lot of people feel differently and I converted my partner. He used to always carry on his luggage and now he's he checks a lot of his luggage too. So yeah, I know what you guys are doing now in one C and one D.
00:22:26
Speaker
uppers
00:22:29
Speaker
I have to say, i guess I've never tried poppers on a plane, but there's a first time for everything.
00:22:37
Speaker
We're going to hear on the news, like my gosh two grown men getting a arrested. Especially in those first row ah bulkhead seats. They can see everything. Right. Imagine the smell of poppers. They're crafty.
00:22:53
Speaker
You spill it and then it's like the whole cabin.
00:22:59
Speaker
Oh my gosh. But no, when I carry onto a plane, I literally like once again, throw everything in my bag and I have my AirPods if I'm traveling alone, because if I'm with somebody else, I just talk to them the whole flight or nap.
00:23:13
Speaker
My AirPods, a charger and my phone. That's all I need. I don't need snacks. I don't need ah magazine. i don't need my iPad or laptop. I ah keep it so, so simple and i don't worry about anything else.
00:23:28
Speaker
Everything else just goes in the bag. And then with those bulkhead seats, you don't get under, you don't get that storage under the seat because there's no seat in front of you. So I just throw my bag up on top, get in my seat and call it a flight.
00:23:40
Speaker
Like to me, it's just, I've simplified that process and i i love it. It works for me, but I know so a lot of people, they they have to travel with like a million things.
00:23:50
Speaker
They need they need like All their food, all their snacks, they need a water bottle. they need mean, i I guess granted, we typically do get fed in first class, but it's the other thing about going into an airport is I feel like I always end up eating before my flight. Like I'll get to the airport early and find ah restaurant to have drinks and like a snack at.
00:24:12
Speaker
so then I then end up rarely eating the food on the plane anyways. Like what are what are your takes on air, not airport, but airplane food? ah hate it. Every single time.
00:24:23
Speaker
Even internationally? The only good food that I've ever had internationally was on Korean air. Wait, the only good food? Mm-hmm.
00:24:34
Speaker
Wow. Okay. Yes. Japan Airlines was a disappointment every single time. I'm sorry, because they try they always tried to cater to American taste, and it never it was never good, and the Japanese menu always ran out, because once again, i don't fly first class on international flight. Yeah.
00:24:58
Speaker
yeah But Korean air hits every time. like Okay. Yeah, because they always have the the thing that I like, which is bibimbap or beef bulgogi.
00:25:09
Speaker
Yeah, that sounds good. Yeah. I guess food-wise, domestically, it's kind of basic. like Even in first, I typically just pre-select like what I want to eat.
00:25:20
Speaker
But then once again, I rarely eat most of it. Like it's just, I'm already kind of fed by the time I actually get on the plane. It's just something that you just kind of pick like what you think is gonna be the best option or the best food for the flight, but domestically,
00:25:36
Speaker
especially for the Minneapolis market, and i travel to a lot of the same cities or hubs. So there's not a lot of diversity in the menu. You get offered typically similar items year round. It's not like they do seasonal options. It's for the last couple years, it's truly been the same couple things on rotation and sometimes just differed very, like,
00:25:59
Speaker
They'll differ slightly, but it's nothing that exciting. Well, I don't fly first class as much as you do, but when I do, sometimes i do have to avoid having a meal on a flight because i have a lot of dietary issues that make me uncomfortable and I don't want to fly uncomfortable.
00:26:19
Speaker
So I was trying to eat and I like the food in the Delta lounge, but sometimes I would actually not eat that much. And then I wait for the transit. If I go to Asia because the food in the lounge in South Korea is amazing.
00:26:37
Speaker
I bet. It's always amazing. One time I was in Taiwan for transit as well. Amazing as well. And then the best food I ever had was on the American Express lounge in Singapore.
00:26:50
Speaker
Like that's a different class. That sounds magical. It's a different class. It's good. Yeah. I think too, even here domestically, If you can fill up in the lounge and like have, i mean, the food's not terrible. So if you can have like a decent snack or a meal and get your couple of glasses of wine in before your flight, then you're kind of golden, especially if you're not in first because, you know, I love the extra room in first, but it's not always worth it, especially when you're paying x amount of dollars for a ticket and you're not going to eat the food.
00:27:22
Speaker
it It's not really worth the price, right? Most international airports have decent dining options. So just grab yourself something at the terminal and call it a day.
00:27:33
Speaker
But i I just don't understand people that feel like they need to bring full meals onto a plane. I don't know if you've seen this, but it came across my For You page, and I'm trying to get off of the algorithm.
00:27:45
Speaker
But there's this account. She calls it something like charcuterie. Like, I don't know. But she she packs all this food, and she doesn't fly. She's flying in economy. So she's in a...
00:27:58
Speaker
at least three person row. And to sit next to this woman, i would kill myself, but she's putting like pasta in like a thermos through TSA and sandwiches and ah bringing all of her condiments with her and is making what i to me looks like a mess, but is a full meal on a flight, a domestic flight.
00:28:24
Speaker
And I went to the comments on these different Tik TOKs thinking they, this this is rage bait and that everyone would be hating on her.
00:28:35
Speaker
No, everyone loves the content. There's flight attendants in the comments saying, oh my God, this is so cute. And all I can think about is if I was sat next to this woman, i would not, I would, I would not survive the flight.
00:28:51
Speaker
I would. I would, it would not be good. I would ask for a seat change. I would ask for seat change. And if I could not get a seat change, I would at 20,000 feet be opening that exit door.
00:29:06
Speaker
I just don't get it. Like it's so they're so bizarre, but people, I guess love it. And she's now trying to make a company out of it to make these like charcuterie boxes to sell.
00:29:18
Speaker
for but economy people. But the food is so random. It's not like cheese and crackers. It's not true charcuterie. It's like weird food. Now, if that's food that don't smell like charcuterie, then it's fine.
00:29:33
Speaker
But like a whole package, warm milk, Yeah. Weird. A thermos? no and then i saw another And then I saw another TikTok of this woman who ate like five hard-boiled eggs on a plane in Economy.
00:29:49
Speaker
Same thing. If I was sitting next to that, I would i would not be okay. um I don't think you are running into risk of sitting in Economy anytime soon. it's so find You never know.
00:30:04
Speaker
Fall from grace. Oh.
00:30:08
Speaker
um What about upgrades? Like, do you, do you book, like when you book your tickets, do you just book like below what you want and then hope for an upgrade because of your status? Or do you just book the seat that you want? I have a bone to pick with my boyfriend and you.
00:30:24
Speaker
You guys, why is it you guys always get upgraded, but not me. Yeah. And I was the one that reached platinum the fastest among the three of us last year. and this one time i was out with my boyfriend and he got upgraded and I didn't.
00:30:45
Speaker
Oh my God, that leads me to the next, like something else I was going to ask. If you're with your partner, like if I'm with my partner and say we were not flying first and one of you got upgraded and the other didn't, would you take one for the team and sit with your partner in Comfort Plus or Economy or would you take the upgrade and leave your partner in the back of the plane?
00:31:06
Speaker
I thought I would take the upgrade, but after being the partner who didn't get the upgrade... And seeing him getting meals and ah drinks and like literally like 10 feet behind him and seeing all of this shit happening.
00:31:23
Speaker
i would never do that again. I would be the partner who asked for the upgraded seat if I don't get upgraded. That's funny. Treat me.
00:31:35
Speaker
I think for me, i'm maybe I'm still in that honeymoon phase, but i really i like being next to my partner when we travel together. At that point, I really don't care. i know we do travel first a lot, but I don't care where we are on the plane. I don't care if it's a three-hour flight or 40-minute flight like it was to Chicago the other week.
00:31:54
Speaker
As long as I'm next to him, that's what matters most to me. That might change in a couple years, but...
00:32:02
Speaker
That's right, because then you guys can still do poppers together.
00:32:07
Speaker
I think traveling alone is different. I definitely want to be in front of the front of the plane. But when I do travel, especially even with friends, like i want to sit I want to sit with my friends. It doesn't really matter like where I'm at on the plane.
00:32:20
Speaker
When I'm alone, it's like, yeah, I kind of prefer to to have the finer things in life. Yeah. Yeah. No, i would i would agree with you. If I'm traveling with somebody and I get upgraded, i would either offer them the seats or not take it at all. But for you and my boyfriend, I would take the seat.
00:32:43
Speaker
Yeah. You deserve it at this You deserve an upgrade over us one of these days. Yeah. yeah I was so mad at Delta because I booked a first class ticket all the way to Vietnam last year just so I can reach platinum first.
00:33:01
Speaker
And then I didn't get upgraded first. It happens. So I guess that leads me to my final travel question for you. are you Are you a sleeper? Like, do you sleep on planes?
00:33:13
Speaker
I am And do you need assistance with that? Like, do you take, do you like like a little wine? Do you take like a Xanax? Like what, like some people can't sleep on planes. Some people like to take a little, you know, enhancement to make their trip a little bit more relaxing.
00:33:30
Speaker
Are you guilty of that? Why do you think I packed my pill box with me? Well, that answers the question. i need mama little pills before I can deal with the flight.
00:33:43
Speaker
I rarely try to take medication to help me sleep on a plane big well because normally if I need it, I'm already exhausted, right? So I'm able to sleep on the plane. But there are horror stories of people taking Xanax or having you know a little bit too much wine before a flight because they want to sleep.
00:34:03
Speaker
And then there's a delay or they have to deborah. So I would not want to be all comfortable in my seat and ready to take off and something happens and then you're like on a Xanax or had a little bit too much to drink and now you're forced to get off the plane.
00:34:20
Speaker
I typically try to avoid medicating myself just for that reason. Well, that happened to me when we moved out here to Seattle. Remember?
00:34:32
Speaker
no no, remind me. We were with our cat and then our plane on the flight to Minneapolis to Seattle was diverted because there was a medical emergency. oh that's right. Yes, yes, yes.
00:34:47
Speaker
Yeah. And we splurged and booked first class because we were flying with our cat. Well, you the cat. Yeah. ler who was on yeah Who was on cat Prozac and I was on human Prozac.
00:34:59
Speaker
because I was stretched and stressed because he was he's very terrified of public places. We got diverted and my boyfriend deported because he needed to go to the bathroom because the bathroom did not work anymore or some some reason or maybe there's the dead person is in there.
00:35:19
Speaker
ah But But then he couldn't re-board. So here I am so sitting by myself and a screaming cat because the Prozac is now out.
00:35:31
Speaker
And- wore off of a cat. And I had to take and another Xanax to just- Oh my God. Teal myself out. My saving grace was the flight attendant was a jam and she saw my situation and she gave me another two glasses of champagne.
00:35:50
Speaker
So- On your Xanax. I don't think she saw me taking this NX. God, you must have been really relaxed on this flight. I was Zen when we were back on track. oh Yeah, I just have this irrational fear that something bad's going to happen and that I'm going to want to be alert. So as much as I love my drugs, I just try to avoid them on the plane.
00:36:18
Speaker
It's all right, though. Like, you know... Bad things are going to happen. You can't avoid it. Yeah. All right. So another thing about travel, like yes or no, is travel pillow still a thing?
00:36:30
Speaker
So interestingly enough, I was actually going to ask you about this. I don't travel. Like I said, I'm a minimalist on a plane. I throw everything in my bag and I don't have any, anything with me other than my phone pretty much.
00:36:46
Speaker
And i I do have a tendency to, when I do sleep on a plane, end up with the worst neck pain because I don't travel with a travel pillow.
00:36:59
Speaker
But I think it's just one more thing that I'm lugging around in the airport. So I don't travel with one, but I know people love them. So maybe it it could be helpful.
00:37:11
Speaker
For me, but I don't i don't use one currently. I think you should, especially the one that you can roll into a tiny little package. I have them. I have my travel.
00:37:22
Speaker
It's very small, but like just in case that you don't get the seats you want, you can still lean a little bit. Yeah. And keeps your neck straight. so Yeah.
00:37:34
Speaker
I... Highly recommend. We'll we'll put our Amazon store fund in the comment. Link in bio. Link in bio. Our 1.5% commission.
00:37:46
Speaker
I guess also when it comes to neck pills pillows, depending on the class that you're in, a lot of times, not every plane, but when you are in first, the head rest is mobile. So you can actually move it to kind of contour your head.
00:38:00
Speaker
So it's kind of like a built... It's not as supportive as those neck pillows, but it can kind of help you keep your head in place if you do decide to take a nap. I need to be Lysol-ing those things down because I bet they're so dirty, but you can kind of like...
00:38:15
Speaker
form your head into it and then it can kind of keep you upright if you decide to like take a nap so that is kind of nice it's not on every plane but i guess that would be like the alternative to me lugging a neck pillow around i don't know yeah it does well uh speaking of goonie and poppers um the other one The other advice I have for you guys is always bring an eye mask and noise canceling headphones or earplugs.
00:38:44
Speaker
I think those are that's for overnight flights. Even for day flight? I think if I'm alone, yeah. I mean, a lot of times I have my AirPods in anyway, so you can just put on noise canceling.
00:38:55
Speaker
hu So I'll do that. the The thing is, i think there's, well, I don't recommend wearing noise-canceling headphones for a long period of time.
00:39:07
Speaker
There are actually studies right now about it being like bad for you. Really? Why? for more than three hours. It's just you shouldn't use headphone for long period of time, period.
00:39:18
Speaker
It's going to decrease your hearing over time. And then it's going to make me your but brain rot if you do poppers as well. so Well, our our brains are rotting every day, Jason. Take the poppers out of the equation. Like we are the epitome of brain rot.
00:39:34
Speaker
We are. It's embarrassing, actually. We're trying to rot less. Yeah, good luck. Good luck with that. I know, it's bad. Another favorite thing that I do while I travel internationally is going to spas in layovers.
00:39:55
Speaker
in What kind of spas? Korean spas. Seriously, girl, for $30, you can shower. You can hang out in a hot tub.
00:40:07
Speaker
There's a steam room. You can get a blowjob. I'm not going to speak to anything that is that I can confirm money or deny. you You can take a nap.
00:40:19
Speaker
um and In someone's mouth. That never happened. I never confirm. i p plead my fifth. And, you know, seriously, like they have like really good, like even massages.
00:40:34
Speaker
And i bet they do. Even. i'm trying to be serious for a second.
00:40:43
Speaker
I'm kidding. I mean, this is why I fly Korean Air, because I think Korean people got it. They just like know exactly what you need.
00:40:54
Speaker
Yeah. um Yes. for your For your feet, for your mouth, for your back, everything. I got to travel with you more often. ah let's Let's do our bestie plastic surgery trip to Korea.
00:41:14
Speaker
I know. i need so much work done. And it's it's cheap there. It's so inexpensive. you You need so much work done anyway. so I know. i mean, I'm looking at your face right now and I'm thinking of things that would help you out too. Yeah.
00:41:31
Speaker
For the record, this is all natural. I can tell.
00:41:43
Speaker
yeah We got to change that, babes. Block.
00:41:50
Speaker
ah But no, oftentimes those flights are like more expensive than the actual surgeries to get them done over there. And they do it well. And they're super nice.
00:42:01
Speaker
You just got to your research. Do your research, figure out what's best. And yeah. So yeah, that's my other tar travel tip, which is go to South Korea and do all your plastic surgery.
00:42:13
Speaker
We'll be booking that trip next year. Sooner the better. yeah do you have a hot take on layover as well? Most of the places that I travel to don't require a layover.
00:42:25
Speaker
And I would rather pay slightly more money to not have a layover sometimes is unavoidable, especially when I do my rare inter quote, international travels to Mexico, ah then you kind of are forced to lay over and, and usually switch aircraft or an airline, just depending on where you're going.
00:42:46
Speaker
Um, and it's pretty much inevitable most times to other places in the world from where, Minneapolis International Airport is that you typically will lay over on one of the coasts and before you get in the air to travel abroad.
00:43:03
Speaker
So I avoid it as much as possible. And sometimes it's even worth flying to Chicago to fly international first to avoid an additional layover because they are able to accommodate bigger aircrafts and have more destinations available. So Chicago being so close, sometimes you just fly there first.
00:43:26
Speaker
Technically, that I guess would be a layover, but then you're avoiding another coastal layover to get to, say, Amsterdam or wherever you want to go. So that's kind of my take is I just try to avoid them.
00:43:38
Speaker
Even if I have to give up Delta, if there's another airline that can avoid and a layover for me, depending on where I'm going and the timing that I need, i just try to try to get away without without needing one.
00:43:51
Speaker
Yeah. But always bring your poppers. No layovers, just poppers. the i The irony of this is like I truly always travel with my poppers and my carry-on. I do.
00:44:05
Speaker
I don't know why I'm not using them in the airport, but I i just always pack them on my little carry-on bag.
00:44:16
Speaker
Can I tell you like a recent random travel story? Please do. So I was traveling recently and we had ah really turbulent flight. and it's interesting because i don't mind the turbulence because I actually find it kind of relaxing.
00:44:33
Speaker
And i know turbulence is... it's pretty safe. Like if you're it, it turbulence doesn't mean like something bad is going to happen. Right. But this was a pretty turbulent flight.
00:44:43
Speaker
And the one thing typically ah when you're sitting in first class is despite the turbulence, they're still going to serve you. So you're still going to get food and beverages.
00:44:57
Speaker
They might reduce the frequency of them tending to your cabin, But you're still going to get essentially what you pay for. But what they will do is they will halt or eliminate service for main cabin completely.
00:45:11
Speaker
And recently we were on a flight and they did that. But I didn't I wasn't aware of that. I didn't realize that they had eliminated service for the plane because we were still getting our food and and beverages.
00:45:24
Speaker
So it was pretty turbulent. It wasn't crazy, but i just as a safety thing, i think when you have... maybe like 100 people in the back of the plane, it's safer for them to not serve any of them versus in the and first class, it's typically 20 people or less. So it's easier to manage that.
00:45:43
Speaker
So I didn't realize that anything was really amiss other than that there was some noticeable turbulence, but everything was fine. like We still like had our got our meals and we're drinking wine and whatever.
00:45:55
Speaker
Then the flight actually got turbulent. And everyone had their food and their drinks. This lady sitting directly behind me, her literal glass of red wine,
00:46:09
Speaker
I don't know the word, like exploded. i don't know what happened to this glass of red wine. I'm sitting in front of her and I'm wearing a light gray new sweatshirt hoodie. It was super cute.
00:46:22
Speaker
Because I always travel athleisure wear. Like I'm comfortable on a plane. I do not dress up, but I wear something cute and comfortable. I want to be relaxed. And I had red wine all over my sweatshirt.
00:46:37
Speaker
And there's nothing you can really do because it's like, it's not her fault. It's yeah the turbulence of the plane, but it's like wine all over the left side of this sweatshirt. And she was fuck.
00:46:49
Speaker
And like, she was really apologetic, but then her seatmate, I don't think they were traveling together. She's like, Oh my gosh. She, she like taps me and she's like, Oh my gosh, I, this is why I travel with the essentials that she pulled out. No joke. This bag that had literal every single travel essential that you could ever possibly imagine, including a tide pen.
00:47:08
Speaker
And she gave it to me. And ah for the next like 10 minutes, I'm dabbing this, like drawing up this tide pen all over my sweatshirt with these white wine stains or red wine stains. And, And it was just so nice of her. And like, we got napkins to clean up the wine on like the seat and the console and everything. But the red wine actually came out of my sweatshirt, my brand new sweatshirt.
00:47:32
Speaker
But I'm glad. But then when we landed is when I noticed the apology that the flight attendant gave the the main cabin about them not getting service. And that's when I realized, oh my God, they actually cut service for the whole plane except for first class.
00:47:51
Speaker
That is, i guess, maybe the downside sometimes of like, of travel when there's a couple of bumps in the air, but we made it through that trip and survived. the Did you turn around and ask her, are you Mrs. Iglesias? Yes.
00:48:09
Speaker
Did you tell her that there was a colonial woman on on the on the wing? the wing. Help me, I'm poor.
00:48:19
Speaker
This should be open. This is the 90s. This is the 90s. Civil rights. Stove. Are you an appliance?
00:48:31
Speaker
are you I'm a flight attendant. That's my name. Whatever, stove. Stove. Once again, Bridesmaids, one of the best movies made.
00:48:42
Speaker
Yes. We can quote it every day, all day. um my gosh. Well, that was really fun. Yeah. Travel. because what Is your next trip but Paris?
00:48:54
Speaker
Yes. Paris. And i am gearing to have a very open period this year for Christmas and New Year. So think about that.
00:49:06
Speaker
Oh my gosh. So exciting. If there is no recession and we have to be recession budget girlies, then we'll see about that. I just wanted to finally go to Asia with you someday. I know. We're going to make it happen.
00:49:23
Speaker
yeah Yeah. And come back with new faces. Yep. I'm going to come back with an enhanced face and you're going to come back with a new face. um'm I'm going to come back with my own face and your face in my bag.
00:49:38
Speaker
If you keep on talking to me like that.
00:49:42
Speaker
I'm kidding. You're gorgeous. Thank you. Take those glasses off again. Let me see those eyebrows one more time. Yeah, they're great. No, that someday, babe, I'm going to a facelift and I'm going look like a cat. like it's i you' and I'm serious. like People want to look like Asian people now. like Seriously, like the cat eye look, I'm going to look so cunty-y.
00:50:06
Speaker
Oh my God. going scream, grab that and put it on the Instagram. You better not.
00:50:14
Speaker
Well, thank you for talking travel with me today. Anytime. Yeah. What do you have ah going on this next week and the beginning of summer? So I'm going to World Pride.
00:50:27
Speaker
Very excited about that. Is that in June? Is that next month? It is. It's D.C., right? In D.C. is exactly one month from now. Oh, wow. Nice. I will have things to update. And things I will not update.
00:50:39
Speaker
um Yeah, I'll make you spill everything. Privately. was going to say. Might be one-on-one conversations. Yeah. But I'm looking forward to a ton of things coming this summer.
00:50:53
Speaker
the new movies that are coming out that I i love. i am looking forward to the new Superman movie. who okay. Yeah, I'm such a nerd. I'm DC comic Marvel nerd. So I love that.
00:51:09
Speaker
I really like the Thunderbolt movie. I don't know if you guys would care, but it's the best entry of a Marvel super movie in a long time. And I love Florence Pugh.
00:51:21
Speaker
She can say whatever she wants to me and I'll do it. Love it. Yeah. What about you? What excites you for this summer? Gosh, there's just so much going on It's finally getting nice here, which has been really great.
00:51:33
Speaker
I thrive off of the sun, so I'm ready for lots of pool days, hanging with friends, drinking seltzers, grilling. You know me, I love to grill out, so I'm excited for lots and lots of grill nights. Sausages, wieners, brats, poppers.
00:51:56
Speaker
Next month, we're off to a friend's birthday party in ah San Diego, which we're really excited for. And then about two weeks later, we're off to one of our favorite places, Vegas, for a hot summer ah vacation, which is going to be really, really nice.
00:52:13
Speaker
What are you doing for Fourth of July? um So 4th of July, my partner normally throws a party. So I think I'll be spending time out with his dogs and friends mutual friends. And he redid his patio last summer. So he has a gorgeous, entertaining space.
00:52:32
Speaker
So I'm really, really excited for more grill food and some cocktails and hopefully some beautiful, beautiful weather and fireworks in the driveway and all of that kind of nostalgic 4th July fun.
00:52:43
Speaker
What are you doing for the fourth I actually don't have any plan. No, nothing? Yeah, I think Seattle is going to be very fun. We watched the fireworks from our friend's apartment that has the view of Space Needle last year.
00:52:59
Speaker
So we're just going to do ad hoc, like not planning anything and then just wait to see what happens. yeah We can even see the fireworks from our apartment too. so Oh, nice. Oh, perfect.
00:53:10
Speaker
That's really, really nice. I know when you lived downtown here, you could see the fireworks from your building's rooftop as well. So we, I think one year, might've been for the aquatennial fireworks, but kind of same thing. Like we were able to come party at your apartment and see the fireworks there. So it's always nice when you don't have to fight for lawn space and mosquito infested things.
00:53:34
Speaker
parts of town to see fireworks. You can just stay your building, which is nice. But remember that party though. That was really fun. It was. Yeah. Lots and lots of fun.
00:53:45
Speaker
