That is fucking brilliant. God, it's gonna be rape religious after this. Rape religious? Rape religious mate.
Introducing the Characters
00:00:33
Speaker
Hello and welcome to this week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are a live play, 5e, D&D podcast set in the world of Aerith. My name is Mark and I am the Dungeon Master. And also with us for today's episode, we have Ian who plays the Dragonborn Barbarian Dragos. I am ready. I am so ready for this. Let me rage and hit, rage and hit. We've got Will who plays the human bard Kastan. I like this. This is exciting. Casey who plays the human champion, Helen a Sleetguard. I am indeed a champion.
00:01:03
Speaker
We've got Callum who plays the gnome sorcerer Folly fizzle bang the ninth. I'm going to lose my second character
00:01:14
Speaker
I'm faithless. That reminds me of the name from The Simpsons, where he sat on the button and goes, I am in danger. Ralph, Ralph. Ralph. There you go, Ralph. I'm in danger. That's folly right now. We've also got Danny, who plays the human cleric, Claude. Bonjour. And we've also got Darren, who plays the human fighter, Rogue Robin. Holy moly, it's Tim Curry. That's brilliant. I've left you last for that very reason because I made you hold on to your holy moly till then.
00:01:43
Speaker
I don't get it. I now imagine Erica being played by Tim Curry. Isn't Tim Curry a basketball player? No! I love you! He's the Home Alone 2 guy. He's also the legend guy.
00:02:03
Speaker
Wow, I totally missed the mark. Shows how out of touch I am. Anyway, moving on.
Recap of Last Episode's Exploration
00:02:08
Speaker
So, last week's episode, we found ourselves deep in the black-mouthed mines, continuing on in the aftermath of Foley opening a portal up to Lucian Blightbane, Helena Sleetguard's brother, who, as far as people were aware, was at the Spiritmon readout, fighting off the undead that was currently holding up there, the Blights and this portion of Sleetguard.
00:02:29
Speaker
Upon this happening, Foley then tried to do it again, and the character throughout the portal, Lucio Nash, threw a cup, or a piece of, yeah, it was a cup, through the portal, towards Foley breaking the concentration, thus showing that something could pass through this portal.
00:02:48
Speaker
The party then discussed numerous things and continued to crawl through this long dungeon, finding more pillars that had broken down, a bench that had been flipped by some creature that has the capacity of lighting itself on fire, igniting in some way, shape or form.
Encountering the Portal of Undead
00:03:00
Speaker
The party then came across a very disturbing room indeed. This room had the floor missing and about a mile below it they could hear screaming up, where thousands of undead pouring out of a portal deep below the black-mouthed mines.
00:03:15
Speaker
Upon moving round to the west and south, the party came to what must be a head, a real turning point in this mine. They came across four figures of these large wreaths with flame figures which were removing parts of the wall and placing them down behind
Recognizing the Foe, Eraqas
00:03:35
Speaker
them. A figure of a woman lying unconscious on the floor to the south. And then also the figure of a well-known foe for some of the party.
00:03:45
Speaker
They stood in front of Eraqas, the necromancer who was last seen on the Osran Islands a long, long time ago before the party had even landed in Sleekguard. They assumed this figure dead. Claude had been searching for this figure known as Eraqas but had never seen it before.
00:04:02
Speaker
But Drago and Robin and Tali would definitely recognise this as Ericast. He cast a quick spell upon himself, engulfing himself in ice. And just to give you a quick rundown of what the room looks before we go into initiative order, it's quite narrow. This room is quite narrow in quite a few areas, making it a rather difficult space to work. This isn't a nice open battlefield. These four figures are working on the southwest, sorry, the south, yeah.
The Battle Begins: Fire Creatures & Eraqas
00:04:30
Speaker
southwest corner of the map digging away that corner. Erik has stood just in front of a bookshelf which is between the party and himself behind him there is a large table which has a series of candles on it and this body is up against the southern wall nearest to another bookshelf.
00:04:48
Speaker
That is good to notice actually that this room has an interesting orange glow to it, not only from these fire creatures that seem to be digging into the cave walls, but also from a number of candles which seem to be placed around, almost in some kind of incantation, they seem to be placed in really specific places around the room.
00:05:09
Speaker
which let off this strange deep orange glow and the wax themselves are actually made of entirely black wax which seems rather odd as well. The party come down from the north looking south towards Eraqas and these four creatures. Eraqas looked up, smiled and breathed himself in ice and an ice shield that seemed to appear around him almost hiding his figure.
00:05:34
Speaker
Drago started to advance and drew his sword. So I would again be like, Drago, what is it? What's happening?
00:05:45
Speaker
So as Drago, because he entered the room with Dengon's deception, his sword in his hand, and as soon as he sees Eraqas, he would rage instantly and start charging forward. As he does so, you'd hear from Drago this low guttural, Eraqas! Because Drago would have recognised him straight away from the battle previously they've had. And that's it. You'd hear the word Eraqas shouted out,
00:06:14
Speaker
and probably as Eraqas turned, Drago would have gone into a rage straight off the bat. Instantly mimicking Drago's Eraqas, I will go, what? And I will summon my executioner's axe right above the head of Eraqas. Okay.
00:06:34
Speaker
Um, before we go any further with that, then, uh, we're going to go into initiative order. So if you could all roll initiative, please straight into it. Here we go. Did anyone get 25 plus? I'm gonna put that out there just in case. Oh, you will disappoint me. Did anyone get 20 to 25? 24. Hell I know. Nice. Damn. 24. Did anyone else get... I know, but it's not what you want on a, on an, um, initiative. Initiative. That's the one. Yeah.
00:07:04
Speaker
Did anyone else get 20 to 25? Okay, 15 to 20. 18. Yes. 19. Anyone higher than Folly's 19? 18? Yes. Progo 17? Yes. Who's that cast on? Yes, that is. Sorry. It's all right. And was anyone else in that bracket? Claude on a 16. Claude.
00:07:34
Speaker
Who have we got left? Just Drago. Talia. I got Tali. Don't you worry. You always think I forget her and I do. Drago was behind Folly. Yeah, I got you. Robin, what did you get? Nine. Oh, wow. Robin, that is lovely. Yeah, four plus five, nine. Oof. Not good at all. And in classic form, I roll really well for the baddies and then really badly for Tali.
00:08:02
Speaker
Lovely, so we've got an order. So, Helena, you see Drago just rear up, this anger seething through his body as he raged and pulls out his sword, Dangan's deception, and starts sprinting off, but you've got basically a head start on him. Just as you see him do that, you're kind of ready to go. Just before he is, he's kind of pulling his sword out. You've got the jump on him. What do you want to do?
Strategic Moves and Enhancements
00:08:24
Speaker
Right, hold on a minute. Where's Eraqas?
00:08:29
Speaker
Okay, he's behind one of the... Eric has a standing in front of the bookshelf closer to you looking at you. Yeah, okay, fine. And then there's these fire things. So I will leave Eric has to Drago. I'm going to go round... I'm going to go round him to the left of the bookshelf. So I've got 30 feet of movement. So where does that take me?
00:08:53
Speaker
there okay fine so i'll go 30 feet ahead so yeah so yeah i'll run there okay so you're running kind of over this broken pillar and towards ericasp but you're aiming to kind of go you know the passageway just behind you uh just just to the side to the left there is available you can run down there if you're planning on running around
00:09:15
Speaker
No, what I'm going to plan on doing is I'm going to plan to come... You can't get through there. Oh, I can't. I can't get through there. Oh, I thought I could. Well, then I'll probably go round then. Right. Sorry. Let me go back. You can get through this area here in front of the... to the right of the bookshelf. Yeah, that's where I'm... Yeah, I'm going to go that way round. So I'm going to make it... I'm going to be heading over to the flame creatures.
00:09:40
Speaker
Okay, you're heading towards the flank. Yeah, so I've gone 30 feet to the southeast, yeah. Okay, no problem. Avoiding the main part of Aracast at the front, kind of skirting around to the middle. Okay, lovely. Thank you very much. Anything else you want to do? No. Okay, can I just give you a quick note? Just a quick thing. You could either dash to add your movement again or you could dodge so anything hits you at disadvantage, just as you're interested. Well, I've got both of my flails ready.
00:10:08
Speaker
how if i dash where can i how much more movement have i got another 30 feet maybe i'll do that actually yeah i'm gonna dash i've got both of my flails ready i'm gonna dash another 30 feet is that okay yeah of course okay well and you're running up to the side of the table next to erikas but yeah i'm gonna go behind him yeah i'm gonna go behind him ready for these uh one of the flown creatures
00:10:35
Speaker
These flame preachers. Okay, lovely. Thank you very much. See you right up in the thick of it, straight off the bat. I love it. Thank you very much, Helena. Folly, you're up next. You can see Helena just sprinting off into the distance, into the melee, into combat right there. What do you want to do? Can I just double check? Could Drago would have sprinted ahead and I'm assuming Claude would have done the same.
00:10:57
Speaker
they're just about to but again you've got the jump on them just as they've really it's like you've realized the situation just before they have so they're about to do that as well but you just got you're just ahead of them in that you're thinking quicker everything kind of clicks quicker for you okay uh folly is just going to move forward a little bit he's heard the roar of
00:11:21
Speaker
Both Drago and Claude in regards to Kaelstan. Folly has no idea who it is, but he recognises it at the very least from Drago. So he's going to hide behind this little pillar here, turn around. He's going to cast Haste.
00:11:36
Speaker
but he's going to use it with Twin Spell, so he's going to spend three Sorcerer's Points and he's going to give both Drago and Claude haste for the next minute. Which basically means both of you, your speed is doubled. You've got a plus two bonus to your AC.
00:12:05
Speaker
you have advantage on dexterity saving throws, and you gain an additional attack action on each of your turns. Thanks, man. Jesus. So, go nuts. I don't know why you've gotten so excited about it, but I recognise this from you at the very least, Rago, and obviously with Claude recognising the name Eraqas after you, there's a lot of anger in the air, and it's like, okay, I'm staying the hell out of this, I'm going to let you guys deal with it.
00:12:37
Speaker
So Folly, what you've done is that big boulder that's just in front of you is probably about four or five feet tall. So easily you and the book, you can hide behind it and your backpack and hide it behind it as well. And as you turn back to the party, you cast double haste. Could you roll two separate D20s for me, please? Just straight. Because haste is first level, first level spell, second level. Third. Oh, third level. Yeah. Give me two separate straight D20 rolls for me, please.
00:13:07
Speaker
Well that's two. 8 and an 18. Yeah. Sorry, I'm really out your own dice Roger. That's absolutely fine. So I'm just testing you against the wild magic. Thank you very much for that. That's two sorcery points for twin spell, isn't it? It's three because it has to be equal to the spells level. So I've spent three sorcery points on that. No problem.
00:13:29
Speaker
Cool. So thank you very much. You both are hasted now. And speaking of hasting, Drago, you are hasted. You've got double movement. You've got an extra attack. You've got plus two to AC. I fucking love haste. What are you going to do with it? I can get us, but go for it. I'm so excited about it. I'm so excited because the adrenaline is pumping through my veins as if I was Drago. I'm running as fast as as fast as I can. Like my claws and my feet are digging into the ground and little dust particles are flying away. This intensity as he's
00:13:57
Speaker
just hauling ass to Eraqas. Sword is raising above his head and he's going to strike down with all his power on three attacks, all on Eraqas. Okay, would you like to roll to hit? Yes, I would. First attack, 14. That's crap.
00:14:20
Speaker
Eraqas doesn't even try to move, he stands unblinking at you as your saw comes down hitting into you, hitting into his side but it instantly just kind of ricochets away almost like you've hit stone and what you notice though is that this cold energy rushes up towards you and you take
00:14:45
Speaker
and you're resistant to cold damage, aren't you? I am. That's a four. So you take two points of cold damage. Okay. Okay.
00:14:53
Speaker
More angry again, and just a little bit surprised that I missed the first time around. Another grunt as I go in for another attack. 18. He stands there again. You pull up dengue and deception and let it loose again near his head. He doesn't even move as it slams into the side of his ear, hits his shoulder and the sword kind of parries. The same thing happens and you take seven points of cold damage that has been halved. Oh, motherfucker! Let me just do the maths here, sorry.
00:15:23
Speaker
So it's a 2, then a 7, so it's 9 points in total. Thank you. It's a tough fight. OK, getting angry using his third attack, thanks to Haste. He's just swung down on the first, then tried to do a straight shot with the second shot. And the third here, he's going to do to try and hit anything he can. He's going to level the sword mid waist height and do a 360 spin on it to try and...
00:15:52
Speaker
to try and just hit it. I love it. With a 26 motherfucker. Firstly, inspiration, you get inspiration just for the fact that a 360 spin is great and I love to imagine him trying to do that in a really tight space that makes me giggle. So you get inspiration, that's a 1d6 you can use anytime. Secondly, that was to mitigate the fact that again he doesn't move as this
00:16:13
Speaker
Sword comes hitting into his left, sorry, into his right arm as you spin round to hit him. It clangs against the side of him again, causing another five points of thrust damage. He hasn't even tried to put up a hand to fight this off. This hand is just down by its side, unmoving. Are you saying that I missed? I'm saying you hit him, but it did zero damage. Oh my God. Uh... What?
00:16:42
Speaker
That's the end of my go. That's the end of your turn. Karstan, this is your turn. What do you have to do? Karstan seeing everyone charge ahead and then seeing Drago sort of like unleash his radiance, Errikath, and nothing affect him. He's going to move forward.
00:17:00
Speaker
to the down pillar sort of just forward and to the right of folly and i am going to cast can eric has make a wisdom saving throw please you can indeed what are you casting i'm casting tasha's hideous laughter uh it's an 18
00:17:20
Speaker
Ah, so he passes that. So with that happening, he feels a little bit deflated, like, because he's desperately trying to help and he thought maybe he could distract Eric Hasp as unable to. So he is then going to as a bonus action, I am going to give Bardic inspiration to Helena. Thanks.
Eraqas' Powerful Magic Attacks
00:17:45
Speaker
Be careful your majesty and it's 1d10 that you can add to an ability check attack roll or saving throw. Nice. Is there anything else? No that is the end of my go. Lovely thank you very much. So up next is Ericas and he's looking directly at you.
00:18:08
Speaker
Drago, and he just smiles, a wry, small smile with his red eyes and dark skin staring into yours at almost equal height. And you hear these glottal sounds that seem to come out of a deep part of him as he just starts chanting words that you don't understand some kind of a weird draconic language for you now. And as it starts to emanate through you over and over again, he repeats it, repeats it.
00:18:37
Speaker
Helena and Drago, I need you both to make a charisma save please, a charisma saving throw. Fourteen. Six. So both of you, this is going to apply to both of you. What you suddenly feel within you, you feel a sudden realisation of your own mortality.
00:18:57
Speaker
you realize very very clearly that eventually life will come to an end and eventually you will die and become dust and fall away into the winds and sands of time Eric has just used a spell called declaration of mortality on you you are going to take each of you are going to take 20 points of necrotic damage and you both have one level of exhaustion
00:19:24
Speaker
Holy shit. I'm guessing this isn't charmed or frightened before I come up with some valuable defense. No. Well, that sucks. That's two levels of exhaustion for you, isn't it, Ian? Yeah. That is. Thank you, Will. Sorry, just checking. I've got to get something in early, because I know when you guys kick off as a party, you're violent.
00:19:47
Speaker
Now I'm joking. What else is going to happen after he's just cast that is, Eric has his one hand, he still has his large black book in it. And in his right hand, he brings his hand up. And as he brings it up, what seems to appear within his hand materializing almost out of his sleeve, this black material starts to form up into a sword as he swings it down hard upon you, Drago. That's going to be a... Motherfuckers not gonna hit me. He ain't gonna hit me.
00:20:16
Speaker
21 against your armor class. He's gonna hit me fuck Okay, I did roll really well for him by the way been rolling like yeah, no shit
00:20:26
Speaker
I feel like I need to clarify that. Oh, that's not too bad. That's eight points of necrotic damage. Half because I'm raging. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Straight. That's necrotic. Necrotic's not physical. And four points of slashing damage that has been halved. Sorry, I did it in the wrong order. Normally I'll do the slashing first. So four points of slashing. And then what did I say? Eight and four. I've had 12 points. That's right. Yeah. That is the end. You're glad to hear. At the end of Eraqas's turn. Claude, you're up next.
00:20:56
Speaker
Claude is going to see all this going on. Did I get the, you know, before we started initiative, I've summoned my axe above his head. Yes, that is done. Is that the bonus action for this turn or was that done before? I'll consider that the bonus action for this turn, as it technically would have to be like a surprise, but I'll let you have it as I like the image. Okay, so starting with the bonus action,
00:21:23
Speaker
Axe, the spiritual weapon axe is going to take a hit at aircraft. Okay, roll to hit. That is a 15. 15. So as that strikes down, the same thing happens that you noticed before. This white, cold material seems to push the axe back. Does your axe have any HP, so to speak? No.
00:21:46
Speaker
Okay, so I'm assuming it's just materializers and can withhold, it can take damage so to speak. So the axe seems to be pushed back five, let's say ten feet away from him though if it can't take damage. It's been pushed back towards you ten feet. Okay, then as my first of my available actions,
00:22:06
Speaker
I will cast Bless on Drago, Helena, Folly, Karstan and Robin.
Blessings & Battle Strategies
00:22:15
Speaker
So everyone is blessed and can add a default to all saving throws and attacks. Nice.
00:22:22
Speaker
And as my second action, I'm literally going to American football style, charge with this 60 speed of movement that I've got now, leap over that bookshelf and like proper rugby tackle air cast to the ground. And just scream as I'm going, master's coming for you. Amazing. Can you first give me an athletics check to see if you can clear the bookcase? Hey, it's like waist height.
00:22:51
Speaker
No, no, no, no. It's shoulder height and he's seven foot tall. Okay. Well, I still have, um, even if I make it, I've still got 50 feet of movement to get over it and back down. Oh yeah. That's absolutely fine. I'm just thinking whether or not you actually get on it. That's the thing. Yeah. Yeah. I'll do that pretty well, mate. That's a 25. Yeah, guys. Okay. So as you manage, are you having to rugby tackle him? Yeah, yeah. Like proper. Like a grapple. Linebacker challenge.
00:23:18
Speaker
Nice. So in terms of D&D, is this looking like a grapple then? Is that what you're doing? Yeah, I guess. But with the hopes that the momentum might knock him prone. Okay, no problem. So give me a, oh, let's go for a strength check. Yep, straight strength. With advantage, because you've got your entire body weight and your armor corralling down on this man.
00:23:36
Speaker
That's a 12. OK, you managed to run up and clear this bookshelf, kind of absolutely clearing this by about a foot and a half over the top of it. Ericas turns at the last minute to see you and very quickly manages just to move his body out of the way, kind of back handing you down as you fall just to the left of him between him and the wall. You've now kind of got him in a pincer movement between you and Drago. He's in the middle. But unfortunately, you've missed him on that approach on the other side. OK.
00:24:05
Speaker
And you're also, you're not prone. No, you're still upright. So I wouldn't consider that an attack, really. Well, no, I consider it an action. No, I would actually consider that. Yeah, because it's your second thing with haste. Yeah. Yeah.
00:24:20
Speaker
OK, cool. Thank you very much, Claude. Was there anything else you wanted to do? No, I'm all out of stuff. Lovely. Robin, up to you. What do you want to do, mate? So, first things first, I'm going to take a shot at Aerokas, I think. OK, roll to hit, please. 20, not natural. The arrow flies over Karstan's left ear, perfectly aiming towards Aerokas. As he turns at the last minute back from...
00:24:44
Speaker
clawed towards Drago, this arrow hits him on the side of the head. You pull back this bow with such force and ferocity that it seems to jolt him ever so slightly but causes no damage. The arrow is instantly obliterated.
00:25:00
Speaker
Well, try and shoot him again I guess. Okay, roll to hit. 27 to hit. The same thing happens again as Arrow slams into the side of his head. The arrow destroyed again, two arrows down. But he doesn't even seem to notice as he turns back to Drago. Is there anything else you want to do with your movement? Yeah, I'm going to. Robin is going to then all of a sudden just background this corner and try and process what he's just seen.
00:25:29
Speaker
just moving away from the battle north hiding away behind to try and just to recuperate and think okay Robin's basically using the time between this turn and his next turn to figure out to use his battle master nuance to try and figure out how to make this field work
00:25:47
Speaker
and he's not getting many solutions at the minute. But that's my turn. OK, thank you very much. So these creatures that are behind, it's their turn to move now, and they are, all four of them have spun around from their job and are going to engage separate people. The one most northern approaches Claude as he's closest to Ericas. The next one is going to skip Drago and move straight towards Helena. The next one is going to smash up onto the table, making a beeline past.
00:26:15
Speaker
Helena and the one closest to the woman in the corner is going to move up also. They seem to be aware of their situation and where they're being attacked from and are very carefully approaching the situation, aren't just bum rushing the first thing they see. This seems odd, this doesn't seem like something these creatures would normally do, they work on their own for all intents and purposes. You can assume these are being controlled by Eraqas.
00:26:39
Speaker
So the first creature nearest to Claude is going to take an attack and what it's going to do is it's going to stand in the same space as Claude. These are air elementals, sorry these are not air elementals, these are fire elementals and as such it's going to move into your space and when it does that I need, oh no you don't need you to do anything but Claude you're going to take eight points of fire damage. Okay.
00:27:07
Speaker
And if you're in the same space, this goes for everyone. If you're in the same space as one of these creatures on the start of your turn, you will take damage each time, okay? This creature while it's there is then going to these two long, almost like...
00:27:22
Speaker
They're not really hands, but you can assume this is where the hands would be, almost too long kind of branches of flame. They're gonna come out and slam down internally upon it as it kind of splits and hits down on it, changing form and shape at all time. So the first hit it's going to make is a nine against your armor class, Claude. Miss. The second one is a 25 against your armor class. Hit. I'm guessing that hits. Claude, you're going to take
00:27:53
Speaker
10 points of fire damage, and if you have anything on you that's ignitable, it's on fire, but I don't imagine there's lots on the outside that's ignitable.
00:28:03
Speaker
Oh, I like your beard, though. Let's just say that a little singe, so you get partially get your shield up. You've got a shield, haven't you? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bastion. You've got Bastion. What great name for a shield, if I do say so myself. You might have to get Bastion up to cover a little bit of this damage, a singeing part of your beard, but not much of it. A little bit of seaweed starts to catch fire, because I imagine you've still got seaweed in your beard. Yeah, that's probably flammable now if it's like dead and rotten.
00:28:27
Speaker
Oh, God, yeah. So that's it. That goes up. You managed to put it out in time. I just want to save the beard.
Fire Elementals' Tactical Maneuvers
00:28:32
Speaker
I love the beard. I can't see you without the beard. Thank you. That's my thing now. It's kind of like... Actually, I'll get back to that anyway. So you have that done to you.
00:28:42
Speaker
And that's all that creature is going to do. The next one is going to move up and do the same thing to Helena. So Helena, straight away you're going to take three points of fire damage. And the first one's going to be an 11, sorry not 11, 15 against your armor class. Misses. Is that a miss? Cool. And the next one is a 9 against your armor class. Misses.
00:29:03
Speaker
So these two large kind of arms of fire come up and you definitely jump from one side to the other with your two flails out ready and armed as both of these hits come crashing down and miss. That's the end of their turn. The next two creatures aren't going to, well actually the creature that's up on the table is close enough as it's got quite a long range on this so he's going to do the same thing. Two attacks on you, Helena. The first one is a 24. That hits.
00:29:30
Speaker
That hits, so you're going to take nine points of fire damage from that one. And the next one, oh, I'm rolling very well, it's a 21. That just hits. That just hits, yeah, it's a 15 plus six.
00:29:40
Speaker
And that is 13 points of fire damage. So as you're busy holding up this one creature, these two other monstrous kind of arms of fire come crashing down across your back, catching you. And again, if you've got anything flammable that's out on the open, that also would have caught fire. But imagine if you're wearing your helmet at this point. Yeah. Yeah. I don't think I've got anything flammable.
00:30:01
Speaker
No, I think you're fine. You're safe for now. And I think the magic nature of your armor would have kept most of that away from breaking through into your clothing underneath as well. So I think you're fine there. Right. I've been rolling very well for these guys. I was going to say I'm sorry, but I'm not. The other creature on the far side that hasn't engaged is going to use its action to dash actually. It's going to move the other 30 feet.
00:30:24
Speaker
moving around this pillar that sits in the middle of the room away from this miasma of fighting towards folly castan tali and robin who are at the back of the party and that is the end of their turn tali is going to see this creature coming it's going to move forward a bit notice this creature
00:30:42
Speaker
crawling around the corner and she's gonna shout forward to the other, Karsten! Folly! Luke! And she's gonna point over to the other side. Not really knowing what to do, she just pushes herself up against the wall and is gonna take the dodge action as she kind of starts to panic as the kind of heat of the damage against her own face continues to kind of simmer and burn away as she remembers not only half an hour to an hour ago that she faced creatures similar to this and was very badly burnt on the face. And that's the end of her turn.
00:31:12
Speaker
Top of the round. Helena, what would you like to do? I would like to attack the flame ethereal that's attacking me. Okay, roll to hit.
00:31:23
Speaker
That is 20 non-natural. That was 10 bludgeoning damage. Lovely. So you take the big swing with your flail. You're nothing but consistent, Helena. I like it. Yep, that hits as well. I will take my right hand
00:31:44
Speaker
and I will smash it as high as I can. I don't know how big are these things. These stand at about 10, 15 feet, not 15, sorry, 10, 12 feet tall, so quite towering over you, but all of it is just this this flaming creature. You can make out just within it as it surrounds you. What seems like the shadowy figure of a humanoid almost within it.
00:32:04
Speaker
OK, well, I will take my right flail and I'm going to smash it as high as I can into the body of the aerial, which would probably only sort of get towards the stomach area, I can only imagine. And then that will come back on itself as well and hit at the same place. And then can I do my bonus action in the other hand? Yeah, absolutely. That is a 25 to hit.
00:32:31
Speaker
Oh god yes that hits again well done. High hits you got there Kate. Seven bludgeoning. Yeah I'm rolling okay. You're rolling pretty damn well. And then can I action surge? Yeah you can absolutely. Okay roll to hit. 22 to hit. Jesus yep that hits. Seven bludgeoning damage.
00:32:50
Speaker
consistent again you've gone 10 10 7 7 yep 25 to hit my god casey this is yes absolutely um but yeah that's seven uh bludgeoning damage again on that one it's clearly consistent casey that was incredible so that was um you've just gone i mean what is it like when you action surge what does that mean how what what what do you kind of do
00:33:10
Speaker
I think that my movements are very quick and they're powerful and they're intense and I will yeah my right hand obviously comes in with the double attack one across the front of the chest or the stomach and then back again over the over the same sort of points and then the other
00:33:29
Speaker
The other hand comes right in and I'm going to go straight down on it as much as I can. I'll sort of jump as well at the same time so I can really put my power into that second hit and then I can back up as well on that hit. Lovely. So this creature looks like this kind of... As these hits come smashing in, one, two, three, four, five hits, they're all kind of flailing from all sides, way flailing. But the creature is still standing, ready to go. Is there anything else you want to do, Helena?
00:33:57
Speaker
Um, no, I'm probably going to stay because if I move, they're going to get an opportunity to. They are indeed. Good point. So, uh, that's in your turn. Folly, your turn. You've just seen Helena go hell for leather. Then she just, um, Folly seen this one that's trying to sneak up on the, uh, right side or the east side of the actual map. Um, he's going to turn.
00:34:22
Speaker
back and just move back a little bit near Tarly as much as he can around about 25 feet. He's also seen however that physical attacks at the very least don't really do much against Eraqas but obviously from what he's seen it is some kind of magical entity so he's going to attempt Firebolt against Eraqas as well and just see what happens. Okay roll to hit please.
00:34:52
Speaker
Surely Fire. Surely Fire will do something. Well, twenty-five hit first. Oh, sorry, I rolled two there. Just the first one. I got nine on it anyway, so twenty... eight to hit. Okay.
00:35:08
Speaker
It hits him, squaring the side of the head as you make him out over the top of the bookshelf. Again, this fireball just explodes into icy shards, covering down in front of you. Some of them almost managing to hit Karsten, who's about 25 feet away, in your direction. It has done zero damage to him. He has not taken a single hit. What do you want to do, Folling?
00:35:30
Speaker
No, I'm not going to do anything at the moment. Folly's just going to stay back and hide best as I can next to Tali away from some intense fighting. Okay, lovely. Thank you very much, Folly. Drago, this is your turn. You're up face to face. This creature has just approached and you've taken some rather hefty damage from Eraqas this round. What would you want to do?
00:35:53
Speaker
I'd like to regroup from where I'm at. Seeing that Claude is my ally behind him, knowing battle enough that I'd get advantage on this, I'm feeling pretty good on my chances to hit him, so I'm going to swing mercilessly. Mercilessly? Yeah, thank you. Against him. Okay, roll to hit. 25!
00:36:18
Speaker
As you close your eyes and swing your sword directly towards Eraqas's face, as the sword hits in, your heart sinks as you look over and realise that it has done the same thing it has previously done and has just ricocheted off his body. You're going to take three points of cold damage that has been halved. I forgot about that.
00:36:41
Speaker
As it swings back and this cold icy pain leaks into your arms and wrists.
00:36:50
Speaker
This might take him out of advantage if it works, so I'm sorry, Claude. I'm going to use my dragon breath as dragon fear to try and just out of frustration so it's not any icy particles that's coming out of my roar here. I'm going to roar into his face just out of pure frustration after missing him all this time. And I'm going to endorse dragon fear, which I need you to make a wisdom saving throw of DC 14, please. Is this frightened? It is.
00:37:20
Speaker
He's immune to being frightened. Well, fuck, I wouldn't know that. So I'm just gonna roar at him anyway with Jack of Fear. Yeah, I'm gonna, you have to anyway, because of, yeah. So he, as you let out this guttural, visceral roar that seems to shake the very body of the room, Eraqas continues to wryly smile in your direction. Oh, he's fucking smiling. One hand still on the book, one hand down by his side, immovable, unmoving, unchanging. Is there anything else you want to do, Drago?
00:37:49
Speaker
I don't think I can, is that everything? Castan, while you're on there, it's your turn. What do you want to do? Because I've just seen Drago scream at Erichas, and I knew what I was going to do, but now you've still is immune to the frightened state. Can I make a perception check to see if I notice that Erichas can't be frightened? Yes, of course.
00:38:10
Speaker
I mean your passive perception is so high, I'd say from the look on Eric has face you can tell that this doesn't seem to work and the drago roaring like that is a pretty terrifying thing and that's not going to get him nothing well. Right okay that then decides what I choose to do because yeah the thing I was going to do to him has no effect on things that owe me to be frightened so.
00:38:34
Speaker
You're welcome. What I'm going to do is I'm going to expend a fifth level spell slot, and I'm going to cast Banishment on the two creatures closest to Helena.
Eraqas' Banishment Spell
00:38:47
Speaker
So can they make a DC 17 Charisma saving throw each? Because the first one rolled a 19, which is the one on Helena. And the next one, that is a six. Okay, so...
00:39:02
Speaker
One of them is now banished. So the one with the light pop is banished. It disappears from this realm. Okay. If it goes for a minute, if the spell lasts a minute and it's not from this realm, it will disappear forever. If a minute passes and it is from this realm, it will then return. Correct. For me. So yeah, thank you.
00:39:25
Speaker
Awesome. Is everything up to you, Carson? Noting everyone backing away, Castan is also going to back away towards where Tali and Folly are. Okay, so backing into the corridor kind of away from the fight slightly. Yeah. Okay. Lovely. Thank you very much.
00:39:46
Speaker
Banishment is just the most awesome spell to pull out at this time. Thanks, Will. Well, I was trying to get two at once, hence why it was the fifth level, so annoying. It's still a great shout, though. With that happening, Eraqas is up and Eraqas is going to see what's just happened.
00:40:08
Speaker
It's one of his creatures and he's going to turn his head round to look directly at you, Kastan. And with his one free right hand, he's just going to point his finger out towards you. And can you make a charisma saving throw, please? Come on, man. You got this. Boss it. Sixteen. All of a sudden. Oh, God. Your world goes dark.
00:40:31
Speaker
And instantly, light returns and you find yourself in this strange place. The water seems to ooze and move like oil across an open empty barren sea. You see a single
00:40:47
Speaker
tower sticking out of the water off of an angle and you see the remains of a ship burning off into the distance you're stood on top of this tower looking out across an endless black sea horizon with no end in sight unable to move incapacitated you have been banished okay my creature comes back by the way but i banished yep
00:41:15
Speaker
um yeah that's it that's me at this fight then unless you can break and break concentration i'm trying what's going to happen now is that after that's going to happen he's going to turn back to you drago bring it and he fucking bring it look at you and all of a sudden he just looks at you back from looking at castan when you've just seen castan disappear and all of a sudden you hear this one bell ringing off in the distance seems like it's coming from
00:41:45
Speaker
From back in the cavern from where you've came this LOUD bell getting LOUD at echoing through dooooooo
00:41:53
Speaker
echoing through getting louder and louder can you make a wisdom saving throw please he's casting toll toll the dead on you i'm gonna kill him i'm gonna fucking kill him that's a 20 bastard what you managed to do as these bells ring ring ring in your head you bring up your one free hand and smack yourself on the ear which causes your actual ears to ring uh blocking out the sound of this this toll the dead bell that's ringing in your head and it has
00:42:21
Speaker
no effect. That is the end of Eraqas's turn. Claude, you are up next. You're sandwiched between Eraqas and a fire elemental. It's not the kind of dream you imagine having normally, but here you are. What do you want to do? I'm going to start off by making a movement with my open hand like I'm swinging my axe and my spiritual weapon is going to take a slash attack at the back of the head of Eraqas.
00:42:51
Speaker
Okay, roll to hit, please. That is an 18. As the axe comes back into range and takes a swing at the back of the head, again, the same thing happens. It gets pushed off it, into the wall to the west, as it seems to be pinned there for a second before it's freed. It hasn't managed to hit, no. Okay, and still hasted, I am going to cast a level five Dispel Magic on Aerocast. Okay, just remind us what that does, please.
00:43:18
Speaker
So I can choose one creature, object, or magical effect within range. So I'm choosing the creature of Ericast. Any spell of third level or lower on the target ends, but hold on, because it's a fifth level. Any spell of fifth, any spell that is fifth level or lower immediately ends on Ericast. Okay. Anything higher than that, we do a roll-off. You sexy bastard. What is the roll-off? So the DC equals 10 plus the spell's level.
00:43:45
Speaker
What you notice is the ice that seems to be surrounding Eraqas instantly falls away to the ground as Eraqas looks over his shoulder for a second at Eukla before looking back over at Drago. What do you want to do? Okay, and then with my second action being surrounded by this fiery fucker and Eraqas, I'm going to cast Word of Radiance. So the flame elemental and Eraqas need to make a con save, please.
00:44:14
Speaker
What's the effect you're going for on this, just so I can check misses? It's just radiant damage. Lovely, no problem at all. So what is it again? What's the role? Con 17. So the elemental fails, Eraqas passes.
00:44:29
Speaker
The elemental takes 15 points of radiant damage. Lovely. Thank you very much. Anything else you want to do, Claude? No, that's my turn. Lovely. Thank you very much. Robin, your turn. What do you want to do? You've just seen Karstan disappear out of existence. You're hidden behind. You've seen Folly backing up as well as Tali back up. What do you want to do? Robin's then going to bim around the corner and instinctively notice that the ice has disappeared from Eraqas. Is that correct? Correct.
00:45:00
Speaker
I'm gonna launch a shot at Erikas. Okay, roll to hit. Oh God, natural 19, so close. At 30, let's add the d4, 31 to hit. The arrow, you pull back and then you almost hear the training you've had previously from back on the sword coast and you pull back slightly further, taking a more deft aim as you lose the arrow. Erikas turns his head the last minute to see this arrow flying towards him as it hits him square, a perfect shot between the eyes.
00:45:30
Speaker
and the arrow instantly is obliterated. Okay, Robin's composed himself now, so he's not going to try that again. Holy shit. Going to shoot the elemental in front of Helena. Okay, so you're moving forward a little bit to be able to do that. Okay, that's fine. Yep. The one in front of Helena. Yep. You'd have to move slightly in front of Folly because there's an area in front that has a, it's a large kind of boulder blocking your view there. If you move just to the... What about here?
00:46:01
Speaker
Yes, from there, if you move across to the left to kind of hugging that wall, you can get a shot on that way, yes you can. Okay, that's what I'll do then. Lovely, okay, take the shot. That's a natural 18, so that's a 29 to hit. That does hit, absolutely does hit. Okay, it gets us a sneak attack because it's engaged with Homer. That's 20 points of damage on that shot.
00:46:21
Speaker
Lovely, thank you very much. It takes another eight points of force damage and moves away from Helena giving Helena an attack of opportunity. Lovely and I imagine it gets pushed back onto the table and gets shunted back onto the other side of the table almost where the body of this woman is laying as well to the south of this area and Helena you do get an attack of opportunity if you'd like to roll to hit
00:46:48
Speaker
29, the hit. 29 hits. God, you're rolling well. 12 points of bludgeoning. 12, lovely. Thank you very much. As you manage to swing at this creature as this arrow pummels into the side of this fire elemental, pushing it off onto the other side of the table. A corner of the table is kind of lit with the embers of it slipping off the table now. Robin, back to you. Do I see the lady on the table?
00:47:12
Speaker
she's not on the table she's kind of lying on a makeshift bed in front of the bookshelf on the floor so from that angle no you would not yet be able to see her lovely the end of my turn thank you very much robin uh over to the elementals it's going to be their turn so we're going clockwork
00:47:30
Speaker
Fashion as we normally would to start off with as we started around within one of these creatures sphere Claude you're gonna take five points of fire damage doesn't have to take that because He's she's at this creatures been pushed away and this creature gonna take two swings Claude at you The first one is going to be a 25 against your armor class. Oh
00:47:51
Speaker
hit you're going to take 10 points of fire damage and it's going to take a second swing at you and that's a 20 unnatural miss so the second it comes down just glances off hitting the wall off to the side uh not managing to make contact with you and that is the end of that creature's turn the creature that's been engaged with helena is going to actually ignore helena and is going to take a similar route to
00:48:19
Speaker
the previous fire elemental and is going to take its movement to move itself away from the fight and start to curve around where the other fire elemental is. Bata's first movement is you're also going to take the dash action moving through the space of the other elemental as it can using all 30 feet to move up towards the ranged portion of the party and that's going to be the end of its turn. The second one which has yet to engage with Helena is going to jump down off the table landing upon Helena's position
00:48:48
Speaker
instantly applying one point of fire damage to her and he's going to take a hit and that's a natural 20 against your armor class. I'm going to cancel out the natural 20's doubling bonus.
00:49:01
Speaker
Okie dokie, no problem. What's that you've used? Sentinel at Death's Door. Gotcha, I knew it was something to do with the Sentinel, but I was getting that confused with something from World of Warcraft, I thought, but, yeah, no problem. So it just counts as a single hit, is that right? Uh, yes, a regular hit, so you took one point of damage from the fire, so you're on that, and now Mark's gonna tell you what's happened.
00:49:19
Speaker
So it makes it 26 basically against your armor class and you're going to take 13 points of fire damage. As you see this creature take a swing and you're really not ready for expecting it to come off the table. You're still looking at Robin thinking what the hell just knocked that fire elemental away from me. This creature jumps down the table slamming down upon you but something, some aura.
00:49:38
Speaker
some deep darkness seems to hold up almost an umbrella a shadow of shield above your head just for a second holding some of the damage away before the other hit catches you on the back of the neck um attack damaging you quite badly there uh that's its first attack it's second attack now you're ready for it that's a 22 against your armor class
00:50:00
Speaker
Yes, that hits. I've been rolling really well tonight, unfortunately.
Pressure from Fire Elementals
00:50:04
Speaker
I'm sorry, guys. Sometimes I roll like shit. Remember the, uh, remember the griffin. Uh, that is going to be 12 points of fire damage again. Okay.
00:50:13
Speaker
That is the end of his turn. The last airfire elemental has yet to attack, has all its movement, and is going to make 30 feet of movement up to there, and then is going to take 15 feet of movement to get himself on the point of which where Robin is and kind of engulf Robin. Robin straight off the bat like the others, you're going to take a straight seven points of fire damage.
00:50:36
Speaker
That's the end of the elementals turn. Tali is going to panic slightly that this creature is almost on top of her. She's going to move back slightly away from it. She's going to look at the creature, realize it's made of fire and cast... She's going to cast Frostbite, which is a lovely little evocation cantrip that she's been looking through her father's book for. And this is a consave, which... Oh, it fails.
00:51:04
Speaker
That's a kick in the dick, really, isn't it? And it is a single d6 of cold damage. That's three points of cold damage against this creature, which is yet to be in combat. Small amount of ice bursts out towards this fire elemental, catching it on its right shoulder. That is the end of Tali's turn as she kind of shouts, Folly, do something! That's the end of her turn. Top of the round, Helena, you've got another fire elemental upon you. What do you want to do?
00:51:33
Speaker
So Helena is going to turn around and really quickly, and with all her might, because she knows it's right behind her, she's going to fling her one flail just at this thing, wherever it's going to land. Okay, yeah, roll to hit. 18 to hit. Yep, that hits. 11 bludgeoning damage.
00:51:57
Speaker
Okay so you spin around and crack this creature across its torso taking out portion of it. You see some of the shadows start to pour out as its essence seems to be draining away but it's still upright. Okay it's gonna it's gonna take another um I'm gonna take another attack back at it. Okay roll to hit. 33 to hit. Oh yes that hits.
00:52:18
Speaker
nine points of bludgeoning damage and that is exactly the number we needed as this you turn around and catch this creature swear on the head as the the shadow inside splits in half on the flames kind of burn out into just a little waft of smoke that rises above your head as that creature has been smitten. Folly you've got a fire on top of you what do you want to do? Folly is going to try and make the most of his movement at the minute basically run away from it but he's actually going to
00:52:46
Speaker
move a bit further down towards where the fighting is actually all going off. So we've got 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 there. Okay, it's going to take an attack of opportunity against you.
00:53:05
Speaker
Go for it. Because you've moved out of its sphere. It's a non-natural 20. So that is going to be 10 points of fire damage. OK. Then it's over to you. What Eve's going to have to do, and he's praying to God this is going to work, because he's seen the arrows that Robin has been using have actually had effect. So he's going to cast animate objects on Robin's arrows, actually in his quiver. It's going to end the haste.
00:53:35
Speaker
but it's going to bring the arrows to life and basically you can obviously all move them round and deal damage with them now. Okay. Just give me a second. So how many arrows are you? I can, because it's definitely not going to be a medium sized object because that's quite large, medium to medium. They're only going to be small so I can do 10. I can do 10 of these arrows that I can bring to life.
00:54:03
Speaker
Okay, do these cameras... We've done this before with teapots, didn't we? We did. They were all bludgeoning kind of things. Because these are arrows and they have had effects, he's going to basically imitate them in the same manner as if they were being fired from an actual bow. So he's basically going to summon them. He's basically going to summon them out of the quiver, bring them to him, and then this one that's actually been attacking him, he's going to fling all ten arrows straight at him.
00:54:31
Speaker
That's a fire golden or whatever this flame thing that's been following me around 15 to it that hits. Oh cools Okay, so does that count for all of them then so 66 damage Wow on those arrows This creature is dead, but I feel like you need to kind of tell us how this happens because it's pretty incredible basically these arrows have bounded out of Robin's quiver probably without him really noticing and
00:54:59
Speaker
summoned all above Folly's head and literally in just a barrage one after the other in rapid succession they're just gone and they probably pierce straight through this flame elemental with each single one that passing through it just as it distinguishes lower and lower to the ground until it just evaporates into nothingness.
00:55:18
Speaker
I'll give you that only because that was sick. However, I do also need you to roll a percentile dice for me because as you've used Tides of Chaos previously, I could have stopped you having the spell, but I wanted you to do that because that was sick. Could you please roll on the Wild Magic Table as you have used your Tides of Chaos? Can you give me a percentile? D100 please.
00:55:41
Speaker
63 oh you have cast fog cloud on yourself so a 20 foot sphere radius of fog centered on your self spreads around corners the area is now heavily obscure and it lasts for the duration of the spell or if a moderate or greater wind dispels it so it's
00:56:03
Speaker
counts as heavily obscured so you would not be able to see through it at all unless it was blown away in some description and it's 20 feet around your location. Is there anything else you want to do? No, I'm gonna leave it as that for now. Drago, your turn. What do you like to do? I want to take the book out of his hand.
Attempt to Disrupt Eraqas' Power
00:56:22
Speaker
Okay, go for it. Is it a strength thing?
00:56:28
Speaker
Is it contesting strength? Okay, yep, I think you can just go for a straight strength check against his strength check. Oh, that is... hopefully. Oh, you're at disadvantage, remember? Bastard. I am. That makes me sad. Ah, so 14. He rolled 18 on that, so as you go to rip the book out of his hand, he manages just an icy grip just to hold on. You both got a part of this book and you pull, manages to pull it out of your claw at the last second.
00:56:57
Speaker
I hate this fight and no I can't do anything okay just stand in front of him I'm sorry you find yourself still looking as a second tier rolls down your cheek as you stare into this bleak oblivion like state that you have never seen before with your arms in your head you start to quiver and shake ever so slightly I'm so sorry Will
00:57:22
Speaker
No, it's not your fault. Is it all right? It is my fault. Well, when I come back, I'd like to put an effect on myself once I'm back, but I'll talk to you about that. When and if I ever come back. When and if you ever come back, absolutely. So next up, it's everyone's favourite, Eraqas.
00:57:42
Speaker
Yeah, give him a round of applause. Are I, for one, welcome our new and living overlord? And what he's going to do, he's going to, after you've tried to snatch the book off him, he's going to look directly at you and his free hand, the non-book hand, is going to reach up to your neck and he's going to grab a hold of your neck there. Could you please make a constitution saving throw? Remember, you're at disadvantage. Are you for saving throws as well?
00:58:10
Speaker
No, he's not. It's just ability. Just ability. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's just a common saving throw, which I think you have advantage on anyway. 30. Fuck me. Okay. You're still going to take some damage though. Just halved. Oh my God. That's loads. Okay. Um, you take 20 points of necrotic damage has that that has been halved.
00:58:34
Speaker
How am I alive? It's fine. Oh, a little break in your voice. How am I alive? I'm going to break him some way. I'll get there. With its eyes, it's going to look over to where Claude's trying to run off to. And he is going to let out, almost from his chest, this blue beam of white light streaking towards him. He's going to cast Ray of Frost on it. And that is a 23 against your armor class.
00:59:02
Speaker
Thank you. You're going to take 11 points of cold damage and your speed is reduced to 10 feet until the start of Eraqas's net. That is the end of Eraqas's turn. We move on in round four to Claude. He's been hitting the back with a Ray of Frost which seems to really, really cramp your style a little bit. What would you like to do?
00:59:27
Speaker
I will rush up to Helena and cast a level for Cure Wounds. 27 points of healing. Wow, nice. And then I'm going to shout over to Drago. Drago! Teddy bear! And then with my bonus action, I'm going to have the spiritual weapon make an attack at the fire elemental.
00:59:58
Speaker
The one that's nearest to Drago? Yes. Okay, roll to hit. 24 to hit. That hits. And it takes 12 points of force damage. Lovely, thank you very much. And I just use the remainder of my movement to sort of head back in the direction of Eraqas.
01:00:20
Speaker
Okay, lovely. Thank you very much, Claude. Robin, back up to you, you've got a fire elemental on your person. Some of your arrows have just been nicked by the way as well, so you'll turn arrows down. What do you like to do?
01:00:32
Speaker
What Robin is going to do is with his left hand, he's going to reach for arrows, realise there's less there than he expected. He's then going to take his right hand instantly to his sword hip and just bring about Ghostbane like a flash and the sword's going to come swinging across to try and hit the fire instrumental in front of me. Sounds good. Roll to hip. 14, it's now 17 to hit. That hits.
01:01:00
Speaker
Okay, it takes 17 points of flashing damage. Very nice, thank you very much. I'm then going to take another swing at it. Okay. As this first hit comes up from the hip, I imagine, as you unsheathe it, you bring the sword kind of up and out across the body, taking that damage. Yep, sorry, what was your next one to hit? So the next one's 20 plus, it's a natural 16 plus. Everything, yep, no problem, the other hits.
01:01:28
Speaker
That takes 14 points of flashing damage from the second right. Nice and consistent. I like it. Thank you. Bonus action because I can feel the heat disengage. I'm going to take my full movement. I'm going to see the smoke behind me. So I'm not going to disappear into the smoke. 15, 20, 25, 30. And end up with that pillar. Just that side of that pillar.
01:01:52
Speaker
OK, so moving kind of away from the battlefield, so across to the west behind a small pillar away from it, giving yourself some distance between that and the fire elemental. Thank you very much, Robin. It is the elementals turn.
01:02:05
Speaker
It also is not going to go towards the... Sorry, you're the one closest to Drago first. So this creature firstly, Drago is going to move up on you like a birch. He's going to engulf you. You're going to take straight off the bat two points of fire damage, and then is a 22 against your armor class. Yeah, that hits. You take nine points of fire damage, 20 unnatural against your armor class. Yeah, that hits.
01:02:34
Speaker
12 points of fire damage. Okay. As these two long arms, as you're still currently engaged with his tug of war with Eraqas over his book, these two big arms come thumping down upon your person, taking out a large chunk of damage. That's the first fire elemental. The second one is going to move down.
01:02:57
Speaker
to you Robin is going to engulf you again taking eight points of fire damage and that's 22 against your armor class hit nine points of fire damage and then a 19 against your armor class meet and beat
01:03:14
Speaker
11 points of fire damage. Yep. As these two arms, as you think you've got a second reprieve, your back's to this pillar. As you take a breath in, these two big swings smash down upon you as well. That is the end of their turn. Tali is going to move up into this fog and start calling out. Robin. Karstan.
01:03:45
Speaker
Folly! What's going on? That's gonna be the end of her turn. Helena, top of the round. We're currently over the body of this unconscious woman. You've just had a shitload of healing given to you by Claude. What do you want to do? You still knelt down next to this lady?
01:04:01
Speaker
Yeah, she feels a bit more strength come upon her now because of her healing, and she's going to, now she's put her flails away, get out her shield, and then she's gonna, with the other hand, scoop up the lady on the desk onto her shoulder. Okay, no problem. And move her full piece of movement.
01:04:27
Speaker
I know because you know where I'm going because the pathway that I was going to go has now been blocked by the other guy. Can we move east or is there that bright thing blocking the way?
01:04:44
Speaker
That small bright thing is another one of these small black candles of the strange orange light emanating from it that just seems to have been stuck to the wall that seems to still remain away from the brickwork that's been decimated and destroyed by these fire elementals.
01:05:00
Speaker
It's a weird thing I've investigated that, isn't it? OK, yeah, if I pass it, though, I'm going to be in this little corner, right in the bottom right hand corner, and the flame elemental could probably get to me. I need to put her in a safe spot, basically.
01:05:19
Speaker
What would Helen do? She thinks back to her training she's had in the Heral Empire, the military background she has. She's done the right thing by going after the helpless person. Yeah, she is because she's going to scoop her up and she's going to go east. Can I bypass the flamey candle to the bottom right hand corner? 5, 10, 15, 20.
01:05:44
Speaker
you can get to that corner it's not blocking the way it's literally like a candle just stuck to the wall like you would like you've seen anywhere else around the area but this is different because it matches some of the other candles in the area as well that's okay i'm going to yeah i'm going i'm probably just going to stay there i think i think that'll be the safest place i've basically took her off her
01:06:09
Speaker
pedestal plinth thing that she's been on and um bed yeah okay fine and then um i'm gonna drop i'll say drop her i'll place her on on the floor there just so that i i know that i can protect her if i stay around that area lovely okay lovely thank you very much that's it that's my turn
01:06:27
Speaker
Cool, thank you very much. This is part of round five. Looking good. Folly, your turn. You're surrounded by fog. As for the third time today, you feel your font of iconic ability has just been emptied into the material plane and the spell has just appeared out of nowhere that you've never been able to cast before, but can discern. It's fog. How bad can it be? What do you want to do? He's still trying to...
01:06:53
Speaker
figure out where he is at the moment because he can't really see anything can he not really not around you 20 feet around you they're just all filled with smoke he's just going to move down like southeast towards the bottom of his cavern as much as he can just being careful but he can't really see anything else so he's just going to move down about 25 feet and he's not going to do anything else okay that's all he's going to do
01:07:24
Speaker
He's still being followed by his arrows, by the way. He can still sense where they are. No problem. And you're just on the edge of the fog as well, so you can see out of the fog, you can see Robin engaged with this fire elemental, and you can see Drago engaged with another one, and Erika still stood stoically still. Oh, so I can actually see these fire elementals. Yeah, you've got 30 feet of movement, and the fog is only 20 feet. You're currently stood on the edge of it at the moment. You've got another 10 feet of movement, if you wanted.
01:07:52
Speaker
Oh, so I've moved out, the fog's not been centred on me specifically. Yeah, I thought that as well. I thought I was the fog and the fog moved with me. No, no, the fog spell is, you have to basically pick a location and then it's 20 feet from that location, like Fireball wasn't cast on a point. So as you move, the fog stays where it is, you just cast it centred on
Complicated Battlefield with Fog
01:08:11
Speaker
yourself. Sorry, I had to probably make that clear enough.
01:08:13
Speaker
Right, okay, no, that's better. Okay, I have moved out of the area of effect of the fog for now then. He's going to fling the arrows with all the accuracy he can muster with his magic at the flame golem that is attacking Robin at this moment in time. So is this your animate object spell again? Yes. How long do these arrows last for? One minute. Wow, that's impressive.
01:08:42
Speaker
Unless you break them, you can actually attack my arrows. I will let you know that. Thank you. I mean, I have got a spell up here, so I'm just... Darren would be pissed! I dread to think how this is going to go, but let's roll to hit. And just bring that up. That's a nat 1. Oh no. Oh, I have rolled 2 there, didn't I?
01:09:11
Speaker
That would be a natural one. Oh no. It would be the first one. Oh shit. One to five. Can you roll a d20 for me please? I don't want to anymore. Um, 80 on that d20. You lucky bitch. I was going to have you shoot Robin with his own arrows. That would have been so bad.
01:09:34
Speaker
And you probably would have dined him with the amount of damage you do with it. Cool, no problem. So the arrows meander off. You seem to lose concentration as the fog seems to have broken your, not concentration, but your awareness of where everything is. And you fire the arrow off as you see, pierce your eyes through the fog. But unfortunately, they just miss off to the side. Anything else you want to do, Folly? No, no, I don't. I'm going to stay here for now. Lovely. Drago, your turn. You currently have a fire elemental on you. What do you want to do?
01:10:01
Speaker
Erick has to still in front of me as well, isn't he? He is indeed. He's beaten up. Drag is in a rage. With the amount of damage he's taken, he's breathing a bit heavier and he tries to calm himself and fails because he's a raging machine and looks Erick as dead in the eye and says,
01:10:24
Speaker
So be it and spits blood in his face Takes ten guns deception and he's going to it's probably not gonna work, but I'm hoping for something Good from this sword. He's gonna bring it down aiming squarely for that book
01:10:41
Speaker
just to cut it in half or something, or his wrist, just to break his wrist down or something. He's just going for the book. And he's going to Reckless Attack as well, which gives you advantage. Okay, so you get advantage on this. Roll to hit, please. Yep. First attack is going to be 25 plus the d4, plus the d4, 28 to hit, going for the advantage roll. Oh, where's the 20? So 28 on the first for the book.
01:11:11
Speaker
and the wrist, whatever you want to call it, whatever's... As you swing Dangon's Deceptions down this massive greatsword upon the book, the sword hits and slides up the arm, and as it feels like you're hitting stone yet again, you do no damage to the book or to Eraqas. Fuck. And Eraqas just turns his head to you. Oh, it's not his turn yet, so he's not gonna say anything, but he's gonna say something.
01:11:41
Speaker
At the end of that go, Drago's sword falls down, not to the ground, he's not let go but the tip of the blade is resting against the floor and Drago is visibly using it to steady himself up.
01:11:56
Speaker
I'm gonna, yeah, I'm not gonna roll back on that because I think it was good for you to do that. But with haste and the spell ends, the target cannot move or take actions until after its next turn as a wave of lethargy sweeps over it. But what I'll say is, because you chose to reckless attack as well, your reckless attack overwhelmed the lethargy at that moment. The attacks hit, hit, hit, did nothing, and then this sense of dread overcomes you as well as a sense of lethargy and you're going to kind of fall to one knee
01:12:23
Speaker
As the haste ends, the bad thing about haste is that you basically miss a turn if the spell ends and the spell has now ended. So next round, you'll be incapacitated and unable to use your action. Sorry, Daniel, what was that? Just me as well. That will be you as well, yep. So that'll be when we come to you, which is after Eraqas. Yeah. Kastan, you continue to look out bleakly over this environment as you think for a second, you can see some form of life, a bird or something.
01:12:52
Speaker
but then you realise it's just a fleck of tear in your eye as it rolls down your cheek again. Is there anything that Karsten will be thinking about whilst this is happening? He's actually panicking in his mind. I'm just looking up the rules for madness at the moment for when I come back. Yeah, maybe on the short-term table. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But no, that's it. He is absolutely panicking.
01:13:18
Speaker
Right now. Nice. Ooh, I like the idea about rolling on the madness. That's a really good shout though. Um, just in terms of a character trait moving forward, really nice. Uh, yeah, continue to have a look at that. Sorry, Will. It's going to be Eric Kast's turn now. And what he's going to do is he's going to turn
01:13:44
Speaker
to Drago, well he's not telling us Drago, Drago's still there. And he's just going to smile at him and say, you're not a quick learner, are you? And he's going to cast Banishment upon Drago. Drago, can you make a charisma spell save please? Okay. Wish me luck. Come on. 20. You're not natural.
01:14:12
Speaker
You sense your body starting to almost take on a less corporeal form as your fingertips almost at Marty McFly style start to become a bit invisible and see-through. You manage to channel your energy deep into your hands and kind of keep yourself here on this plane of existence, so to speak. No, quite literally, on this plane of existence as you manage to fight that off. This seems to enrage Eraqat as he pulls back and he's going to cast
01:14:40
Speaker
chill metal upon you and he's going to reach out with his hand and kind of reach out towards your face with his hand and you see out of the the kind of broken and battered black
01:14:52
Speaker
long-nailed rusty hand this white the wisps start to move towards you as suddenly you feel everything made of cold metal which metal which is dengon's deception starts to become immensely cold and i'm talking colder than we ever would have really thought of you know and you are a creature of the cold anyway can you make a constitution saving throw with advantage please jeez
01:15:19
Speaker
you doing to me? uh 14 on the first oh that's what i'm talking about 24 lovely thank you very much so i ain't done yet do you feel your sword become cold colder than anything else you've ever experienced before but then all of a sudden you get this faint vibration from the end the tip of your sword as
01:15:44
Speaker
the letters on the side of the sword start to, the old letters start to appear that you know spell out the word for Shani as this other slightly deeper blue energy pulses down the sword pushing back the freezing cold that was there and this natural
01:16:04
Speaker
chill of your body of the ice dragon kind of returns to you as your sword seems to have given you a helping hand and that is the end of Eraqas's turn well played uh Claude you have no movement because of haste ending and you cannot use your action but is that
01:16:23
Speaker
So I have a bonus action and free actions to do, yeah? Yes, a bit of talking. I will, again, just shout out, Drago, touch the bear! And for my bonus act, yeah, spiritual weapon on the fire elemental that's on Drago.
01:16:42
Speaker
Okay, yeah, roll to hit. Thirteen. That misses, unfortunately. Just misses as the axe swings over your head, as the lethargy of haste wears off on you. You kind of gesture over to the axe to swing, but unfortunately you haven't got your eye on it and it misses the fire elemental ever so slightly. Okay.
01:16:59
Speaker
Lovely, thank you very much. Claude, Robin, your turn. You've got a fire elemental up in your grill. What would you like to do? I'm going to take two swings of it. Okay, we're all to hit. A 19 to hit. That hits. 11 points of slashing damage on the first strike. Yeah, thank you. That is a 22 to hit. That hits. 12 points of damage on the second strike.
01:17:18
Speaker
Thank you very much. As you take these two swings into it, you see again this black shadow almost kind of pouring out and controlling his little bits of flames start to be appearing out as this creature starts to lose control of its form, but it is still standing.
01:17:34
Speaker
Okay, bonus action, disengage. This time, I see Folly, and I move back towards him and I go, one, I want my arrows back, two, please kill it. Brilliant, thank you very much, Robin. Fantastic, love it. Amazing, thank you very much, Robin. The elemental that is currently on Drago, you're going to take your seven points of fire damage straight off the bat, so you've got
01:18:00
Speaker
seven points of fire damage and then he's going to swing at you with a 12 against your armor class. That misses. And then a four against your armor. That misses. The creature is then the one that is currently engaged with Robin is going to move around the pillar that was in front of it and move directly towards Robin yet again covering it as it just can with its 30 feet of movement.
01:18:20
Speaker
You're going to take four points of fire damage, and that's a 17 against your armor class. Sorry, I've muted my mic. Yeah, that's a miss. Right. Sorry. So just to reiterate, that was two straight misses from the fire elemental on Robin. And that's the end of their turn. Tali is going to stay in the fog and just kind of stand a bit closer to the battle, but still within the fog, kind of groping around, trying to figure out what's going on, ending her turn.
Strange Candle's Impact
01:18:47
Speaker
We're hidden behind the very southern point of this space, away from everything with this woman that is lying down next to this weird candle that's lit. But the woman is now safe, hidden from everything that's going on. What would you like to do? I would like to investigate the candle, please. OK, give me a roll of investigation, please. That's a 13.
01:19:09
Speaker
OK, very clearly upon looking at this, this does not seem to be a normal candle. The flame seems to be of a very strange colour. The wax does not seem to be of a natural colour either. Upon closer inspection, this gives off a very strange light. OK, can I try and put it out?
01:19:29
Speaker
Yeah, how would you try and do that? Take my fingers to a tisp. You tisp it, love it. Tisp. I'm going to tisp it. I would like to tisp. Roll to tisp. I'll let you tisp it with no roll, don't worry about that. As you tisp this flame, this small flame, suddenly Erica spins round and he looks shocked for the first time as that candle has been put out.
01:19:56
Speaker
That's the end. Anything else you want to do, Helena? Can I take that as your turn? Sorry, are you in action for that? Yeah, no, it's all right. Am I able to take her and just do some, just get some movement? So take her round, just round the other side of the wall, to the right-hand side of the wall. Am I able to take her round there? Absolutely. So moving yourself so there's a big old pillar between you and Erica, between you and the elementals, between you and the combat. Yes.
01:20:25
Speaker
Lovely, not a problem. So you've moved with this woman who seems her eyes seem to be flickering and you can hear kind of from her mouth as you're moving her. So you know she is kind of semi-conscious so to speak, okay? Lovely, thank you very much. Folly, your turn. What would you like to do? You see an air elemental on Robin just in front of you.
01:20:47
Speaker
I want to fling more arrows at it. Nice, roll to hit. 20, not natural to hit. It hits. It's over 20 anyway. It hits, whatever it is, if it's above 14 it fucking hits. 72 points of damage. Fuck me. Yes, you absolutely obliterate this one yet again. The arrow is definitely moving around, not hitting Robin, but just taking the creature out as a
01:21:11
Speaker
all fire through and over this creature, taking it out. I'm going to say because you put them through two lots of fire, two of the arrows are burnt to a crisp, but the heads of which the silver heads would be recoverable if Robin chose to look for them, or if you chose to look for them if you want to be a good colleague and a good comrade, they would be retrievable after the combat. Anything else you want to do? Yeah, he basically turns Robin and says, you'll get them back when I'm done, I promise.
01:21:41
Speaker
And that is just going to move 25 feet closer to where Drago and Eraqas and the last flame elemental actually are. Lovely. Drago, your turn. You've just seen for some reason Eraqas's face change and show emotion for the first time as his eyes shift over to a corner, a corner of which you can't really discern why. What do you want to do? I can't do anything, can I?
01:22:06
Speaker
of course this is your turn of exhaustion isn't it from the haste so we'll skip over you sorry drago he has a bonus and a free action oh sorry yeah you do get a bonus action if you want oh god fine i take the bastard bear on a damn satchel uh look at in the damn fucking beady ass eyes and i'm like akiva whatever you need to do
01:22:31
Speaker
Now's the time. And let's see, let's roll that dice out. What the fuck happens to me?
Eraqas' Last Stand
01:22:37
Speaker
Roll religion with advantage. Well, that's, that's, that shows that with a, that's a nine in total. That's how in tune with religion, Drago is. God damn it. I haven't set the DCT at 10. Thank you, Drago for that. Carstan, you're still looking into the abyss. I'm afraid. Sorry.
01:22:59
Speaker
He did the thing. What thing? Oh yeah, you said you didn't say what happened after I got the nine. Well, I've got a I've got a spell prepared for it. Oh, right. Okay. Nothing happens. I was at the DC at 10. Nothing happens as you stare into the bear's eyes.
01:23:17
Speaker
Yes, as I thought. So I'd cast a glyph of warding on the bear and it triggers at a point when I decide it and he gets the spell activated. What? Shit, I forgot that. Yes, absolutely. So what was the spell? What? So the requirements for triggering the spell were if Drago was
01:23:40
Speaker
significantly injured oh my god and looked a bear in the eyes and what was the spell you got five cure wounds wow holy shit that's amazing oh my god brilliant i don't know why i forgot you did that but yes um roll up the healing for that then um danny if you'd be so kind and then you can tell in how how you managed to save his ass 35 points of healing good shout on board what a good
01:24:10
Speaker
Thank you very much. That's just brilliant. Kastan. Yeah. Still crying. I feel so sorry for Kastan. I feel sorry for the player. Kastan, you're still, yep, you're still lost in the play and unfortunately having a little crying. It's sad, I know, but needs a blast. Erick Hass, it's his turn and he is going to very quickly, he's going to firstly cast a spell which you recognized before where he chants these phrases. Elongalagra. Counter spell. Level four. I'm in line of sight now, you bitch.
01:24:42
Speaker
We're kicking your ass now. This isn't... It's an action. It's not a spell, so to speak. Yes, OK, I'll let you have it, though. I'll let you have it. It's a fourth-level spell. Ha! This is where Eric has used his own counter to counter your counter. Quite possibly, but if he uses a spell slot, then I don't care. He... Yes, so that's level four, so that fails, doesn't it?
01:25:09
Speaker
Yeah, if it's a level four, then the meat and then it just cancels. What were you going to cast out of interest? Declaration of Mortality, which is where you took a Christmas save and then a level of exhaustion. Oh, my God. Instead, he's just going to cast Banishment on you instead. Oh, for God's sake. Christmas spell save, please. I can't do it twice. You've got some spells left, Folly. I'm using my inspiration on this one as well. Twenty six.
01:25:38
Speaker
Yep, that's fine. The same thing happens again with the edge of your fingers start to fall away and you quickly manage to shake it off. That is the end of his turn, but for the first time ever... No, he's not going to move away. He's going to stay exactly where he is and we're going to move on down the list. Claude, now it's your turn. Now you can actually have a turn. What would you like to do? Would Claude have seen
01:26:03
Speaker
Helena extinguish the candle and then also seen, like, I'm behind the bookshelf. So I don't think I would have seen Erica's reaction. I just might have seen her put out a candle. That area in the middle that you're just behind, sorry, you're just in front of, is a table. Oh, okay. Would I have seen that one and one made two there? Give me a perception check, please, with advantage. Because you're not in kind of combat, you're quite free of everything. Natural one or eight?
01:26:34
Speaker
You see her put the candle light, and then she moved around the corner. That's all you can really discern. OK. OK. I will just use my bonus action to take a spiritual weapon attack at the fire elemental. You can use your actual action. Oh, OK. Cool. You've got a full turn, I'm considering. I'll start with a bonus action then to do the hit. That is a 19 with the axe.
01:27:04
Speaker
Yep, that hits. Nine points of force damage. Lovely, thank you very much. And did you say I do have a main action still? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, I'll do... Oh, sorry, sorry, that's nine, wasn't it? That's exactly the number it needed and it's dead. Oh, perfect. That last fire elemental has been killed. I will do a sacred flame on Eraqas.
01:27:30
Speaker
Okay, he rolled a hit. It's a Dex save for him. Dex 17. You got rolled a 19 plus 3, so 22. Okay, I'll just sit there and cry. Okay, more and more of the party are sitting there and crying at the moment. You brought so many of them to the knees. I have. Robin, your turn. The fire elemental has been killed around you. You seem to have a clear line of... There's no flames going off around you anymore. What would you like to do?
01:27:56
Speaker
Okay, I take one look at Foley and admire the sheer power of that spell. Nod. Pluck one of the arrows out of the sky around him. Pull my bow and I'm just going to shoot at Eric S. Okay, roll to hit.
01:28:11
Speaker
That's a 20, not natural. That arrow smashes into him, but ricochets off to the side, causing no damage. Robin, that's your turn. There is no elementals left, so he can't go. Tali is, again, kind of groping forward out of the fog. It's going to appear out the other side and see Drago and Eraqas
01:28:32
Speaker
arm in arm kind of not arm in arm that sounds like you're hugging it's like kind of you were were you kind of in combat together and look confused and unsure and he's going to roll an attack against eric has rolling a four plus four plus eight which the
01:28:48
Speaker
the fire bolt moves towards but then hits the wall off to the right the side which is just stone and is going to miss unfortunately ending her turn. Helena top of the round you've moved this body around the corner of the safety now away from it as you can hear a muttering quietly to herself putting out that small candle what do you want to do? I am going to pick her up run my full length of movement
01:29:16
Speaker
So kind of north, up and away from the battle. Yeah, 30 feet north, yeah. Take her with me. I'm probably going to dash another 30 feet, but as I do dash, I'm going to shout to the rest of the group. It's the candles! And that's all I'm going to shout. Lovely, and you're dashing the other 30 feet. Yeah, the other 30 feet, so.
01:29:39
Speaker
Yeah, there we go, that's it. So I've got completely to safety, hopefully, and yeah, just gave them a little bit of a clue just to explore it a little bit more.
01:29:47
Speaker
lovely thank you very much uh folly your turn you hear this it's the candles echo out from behind you from hell and as she runs past you up the corridor uh what judge um just obviously hearing that um apparently it's about the candles and obviously seeing robin take one of the arrows that i borrowed from him uh and it do nothing uh folly just going to carry on moving uh south to this table here um
01:30:15
Speaker
knock off one of the candles with his quarter staff so it's on the ground so we can actually get to it and just stamp on the fire to put it out. Okay lovely, another candle has been extinguished. I assume it's obviously a nice bit of out action there and then it can use its final bit of movement just to move down to the next one as well. And you hear again as Ericas reacts again to the candle being extinguished. Thank you very much Drago, you hear over the rage
01:30:44
Speaker
It's the candles. I'm stood in front of Erica still, eye to eye, right? Yep, you are. But I hear the candles. Do I hear that? You do. Nice. And am I right in thinking, looking at this map, that there is a candle behind me? There is a candle just to your right on top of the bookshelf, easily within arm's reach.
01:31:05
Speaker
Okay, cool. I'm going to, with Dengon's deception, just still down by my side, feeling a bit more raised up ever since looking at that bear and feeling a bit more triumphant. I'm going to look at Erika's and move slowly back, as I say, I might not be learning, but my friends do. And as I do, I'm going to slice the candle behind me.
01:31:31
Speaker
Nice. She's in front of you, just to the right. Absolutely. Taking this candle out, what a good line, Ian. Thank you very much. As the candle is extinguished as well, you see the expression quickly changing on Eric has his face from one of control to one of lack
Banishment and Return
01:31:44
Speaker
of control. Deep into round seven, Karstan, you can feel something happening as you start to become more free.
01:31:53
Speaker
Your waist and your arms and your legs start to free up slightly and you realise then you can drag your feet ever so slightly. Would you like to move around? No, he would crumple to the floor. Literally just crumple to the floor? Yeah. Okay, no problem. So you just fall to the floor and I can't, but you can now, you can move your hands, you can move your feet, you can move yourself. He'll be in the fetal position. Okay, lovely. Thank you very much for that harrowing image, Will.
01:32:19
Speaker
It's Eric has, and he is going to cast a spell. Were you waiting for me there, Mark? No, no, no, no, not today. I was trying to find the right spell I was going to use. He's going to cast two. He's going to, the book's going to be lowered down to his side and he's going to, with his hand, cast Ray of Frost with this white, sorry, a frigid blue white beam streaks across
01:32:46
Speaker
from his hand towards you Drago and it's going to be 18 against your armor class. I haven't got haste, yeah that hits. Okay, so you're going to take 15 points of cold damage. Has that been half? And your speed is reduced to 10, no that hasn't been half. Cool. So that's 7 points of cold damage and then he's going to do...
01:33:10
Speaker
He's going to try banishment again and he's going to go for his last 4th level spell swap. Can you make a Christmas spell save please? Oh this would be shit. I certainly can. I haven't got my d6. Oh come on roll. Come on roll 20. Love me roll 20. I'm feeling shit. I am feeling shit. 7 in total. And d4. That's with the... That's with it.
01:33:36
Speaker
And as he does that, you notice again the same feeling but the exhaustion, the energy that's had to gone into this fight seems to take its toll and suddenly your being kind of flickers out of sight and instantly you disappear. And for a split second do you see the crumpled body of
01:33:54
Speaker
a human on the floor of this now for the second time you've been there tower which appears in this deep black sea and pulsing red and blue sky above you this is somewhere you have been before and you're aware of this but you are stuck perfectly still as cast down pops back into existence an exact look at this as a crumpled feet in the fetal position crumpled on the floor cast down is back in the fray
01:34:21
Speaker
But Drago, you have been banished. Lovely. You say to yourself in a bat in the water. Yeah, I recognise where I'm at. I remember exactly where I'm at and I'm like, oh, not again. Oh, shit. Derek is a turn. Claude, your turn. What would you like to do? Right, I'm going to... You heard that as well. Yeah, great. I'm going to use my movement to just tap and extinguish that first candle closest. Yep.
01:34:49
Speaker
that has been extinguished. 10, 15, 20 and extinguished that other one. They are both out and you can see now that you can hear again the same noise of almost desperation now from Eric has as he realizes now really clearly that everyone's kind of cutting onto this. Yep. Okay. And then I will main action dash 10, 15, 20, 25, 30. So I'm 10 feet away from Eric has, uh,
01:35:20
Speaker
And then my bonus action... I'm going to send... Can I see the candle that's to the north? The candle that's next to Tali? No, that's in fog. She would not be able to see that one. Okay, can I see the one by folly? Yeah, yeah. Okay, if you allow it, I'd like to move my spiritual weapon. Yeah. And make an attack at the candle.
01:35:44
Speaker
Yeah, I think that would be absolutely fine. Yeah, no problem. I would consider it just the same way that we have with Drago where you could just lop it. It's not, you know, it's not gonna fight back. It's not gonna cause, your blade's not gonna get stuck on it. I'm happy for that to have been extinguished. Perfect. Okay, and I'm just gonna look at Ericas and say, I'm taking your head now. Brilliant. That's terrifying and hilarious. I don't know which is worse. Lovely. Thank you very much, Claude. Robin, your turn.
01:36:12
Speaker
you've noticed everyone cutting on then you've heard Helena scream that from the corridor you were aware of there being another candle in the fog somewhere if you give me ah sorry I'm playing it for you go ahead what do you want to do no I was gonna say do I notice any kind of like glow in the fog yeah I was gonna give me a perception check or investigation whichever you prefer because you have been in that area before
01:36:35
Speaker
prefer investigation, which will make that a 21. Absolutely. So you remember very, you can see it's very off to the distance. You can make out roughly entirely. You can hear her breathing and you can see as she runs past a flicker that start, that seems to obviously have been affected by her running past. And you can discern from that, that there, yes, is a candle in that area and you could move towards him. I will use my movement to move towards it. I will extinguish the candle.
01:37:02
Speaker
suddenly the air seems to become still everything seems to become quiet for a second even the running water sound you can hear from the distance seems to quieten slightly as Ericas lowers his book ever so slightly and eyes start to look down that's all he does okay I step out of the fog and I see Ericas
01:37:27
Speaker
and I'm going to shoot him. Please do. If I still have my action to do that and that's it. If my action took its dingus from the candle then I'm done. No. Okay. Go for it. Cool. I'll consider it a bonus action to do the candle anyway. I'll spend a luck point because that's a natural one. That would be the anti-climatic emerging from the fog. Shoot some stuff from the fog. Yeah. That's an 18 to hit.
01:37:57
Speaker
that hits. Is Claude stood next to Eraqas? Just about five feet away not in range. Lovely, sneak it out. Seven, thirteen, fourteen points of damage on that arrow.
01:38:16
Speaker
Lovely. This arrow thuds into the side of his shoulder as he looks down realizing that it's hit. Claude, you can also see that it's hit. Tali has also seen that it's hit. Folly, you've also seen that it's hit and suddenly we are causing damage. Is that the end of your turn, Robin?
01:38:32
Speaker
If you want to say that extinguishing the candle used up one of my attacks, then yes, it is. Yeah. Yeah, so I'll go with that. Did that break his concentration? Take your concentration check. He does indeed. He rolls a 12. Tali is going to see that this damage is working and it's going to cast a firebolt at it causing it for 15. So that's going to miss, unfortunately, hitting the fire, the bookcase and lighting some of the books on fire just in front of her. Oh, shit.
01:38:59
Speaker
she says as she moves back a little bit into the fog thinking it might give us some reprieve and some protection.
Final Strike Against Eraqas
01:39:05
Speaker
Helen, on top of the rounds, what do you want to do? Well, seeing as though I'm out of the battle slightly, I'm going to just sort of look into the lady's eyes, sort of tap her on the cheeks a little bit and say, can you hear me? Are you okay?
01:39:26
Speaker
Who are you? Don't worry, you're safe. We'll get you to safety and we'll talk more then. Just keep breathing and try and stay awake. And she kind of lightly nods to you through the obvious kind of sweat you can see on her forehead as her eyes flitter open and closed. Is that the end of your turn? Yeah, that'll be the end of my turn.
01:39:46
Speaker
Fantastic. Folly, your turn. You've just seen Robin smack an arrow into the side of Eraqas as this spell seems to have been broken. What would you like to do? Folly, now seeing that we can actually do some damage to this magical bastard, it's basically going to get on par level with Eraqas.
01:40:06
Speaker
and basically going to summon all the arrows that he's got left over which is seven at the moment. Two broke and Robin stole one of his arrows back and he's basically going to let loose with an attack and all the arrows in a flurry. Would you call it a folly of arrows?
01:40:25
Speaker
I will be calling it a folly of arrows now, definitely. That was brilliant. That was horrific. That was fantastic. A folly of arrows. But hopefully I get a decent roll now. Come on, Callum.
01:40:40
Speaker
The arrows are turned round. They hit him instead. So what did you roll, Callum? I rolled a four. I've not done this once yet, but I get to add a D4 for it, for bless, because I got blessed and I'm not using it at all. True. You haven't used it. I put that on it. That takes me up to eight.
01:41:02
Speaker
Do you add your modifier? Like your plus seven or something? I do have a modifier to it. It's a plus eight, so I've got 16 to hit. That does not hit, unfortunately. Fuck. They're like the bullets in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. They start to go in the right direction and then just career down an alleyway. Yeah, they're pretty much like that. Brilliant. Sorry, Folly. That does miss, unfortunately. Don't be so dramatic.
01:41:30
Speaker
Drago, you look out over this plane and you know exactly what's happened. You know exactly what Eraqas has done to you and Well, is there anything you want to do? You're stuck on the spot No, there's nothing I can do over then Just sit down and wait Okay. Well, you're stuck on the spot. You can't you can't move but yeah, I got shit. Okay. Yeah, well just wait Gotcha spit cast on
01:41:59
Speaker
Karsten, you're back in this realm. You are in the fetal position. You are back. What would you have to do? You want me to roll to see whether it's short-term or long-term madness? Essentially, he's, you know, being in another plane's unhinged him a little bit. Let's go. It's up to you. Let's go short-term.
01:42:18
Speaker
okay so i've already i've already rolled the the short term uh essentially um this character has retreated into his mind she's gonna lie there and he has this almost vague look in his eyes he's now paralyzed for the next 10 minutes and essentially he's retreated into his mind shit well that's um fucking hell well that's yeah it's big but yeah i think i think you played that to the t will because i think that's exactly what what cast i would have had to have done going on to a different plane like that so fair enough so
01:42:46
Speaker
You are just rigid still on the floor in this fetal position, retreated into your mind for the next 10 minutes. I've had a good game today, Will. You've done really well. But I think more than anything, it's a really interesting character development thing. But anyway, we'll get into that later. Thank you very much, Kastan. Eric Kast is going to turn to Claude and is going to just say... He's going to turn his head to you and just say, Your time on this plane is fleeting.
01:43:16
Speaker
and he's going to cast sixth level freezing sphere so can you please make what you see is the small white ball almost like a snowball appear in his hand as he pushes it out towards you
01:43:31
Speaker
and it grows getting bigger and bigger and bigger as it starts to kind of get larger and larger to the size of like a football, then suddenly explodes out with massive energy out in a 60-foot radius, which actually means that Folly is going to get hit by that as well. Tali is not big, mainly because the bookcase is blocking it and he's aiming it towards
01:43:54
Speaker
You, Claude. So this is both of you actually that are going to be rolling for it. Can you both make a constitution saving throw, please? Can I have your rolls, please? 22. 24. You. Twats. Okay, will you take half damage? Which is still going to be massively high. I hope so.
01:44:16
Speaker
I mean, what? No, I don't mean that. Let's just quickly get those da-da-da-da-da dice going. Jesus. What the hell? You have 23 points of cold damage each. Wow! That's 6, that's 10d6. Just, uh, yeah. Claude is down. Oh. Oh shit. Claude is down. Hang on a second, just a quick check of that spell.
01:44:41
Speaker
That is Eric Kast's turn. Claude, can you make your first death saving throw, please? Two. That is your first fail. OK, this is getting too dangerous. Robin, your turn. You've just seen this explosion of cold energy emanate out from the area. What would you like to do?
01:45:01
Speaker
Okay, I see Erikas and Robin's going to take a deep breath and use his bonus action to cast second wind on himself and regain 14 hit points. With that done, Robin's going to take out Ghostbane.
01:45:22
Speaker
Actually, no, he's not. He's going to keep his bow in his arm. And like Tom Hanks at the end of Saving Private Ryan, where he's just sitting there with the pistol, shooting at the tank as it rolls towards him, he's just going to unleash two arrows at Erica. OK, roll to hit, please. 50, 26 to hit. That hits. Claude's unconscious. The sneak attack is gone, unless there's anyone else near Erica. No.
01:45:50
Speaker
That is 15 points of piercing damage, and he needs to make a comm save, please. 18. Fuck him. I was just hoping to bring Drago back. I'm going to shoot him again, though. He's got to do a concentration thing anyway, Annie. Which he fails. Drago appears back on exactly what he was previously in. Oh, shit's getting real. I'm going to unleash the second arrow into...
01:46:20
Speaker
Okay. Roll to hit. 25 to hit. That hits. Yeah, that's it. Nine points of piercing damage on that one. Thank you very much. The second arrow thuds into his shoulder, almost hitting the exact same spot that the first arrow which pierced Eraqath's shoulder hits. Is that under your turn, Robin?
01:46:41
Speaker
I'm just going to say to Folly, just an exhausted kind of voice. Folly could really do with the rest of my arrows hitting him now. I am trying. Tally is going to step out of the fog.
01:46:57
Speaker
Robin you would see this a calmness over her face for the first time since a while as she has her own book open in front of her and a single finger pointing towards Eraqas and you can see these small sparks of electricity flying off her fingers as she says to you
01:47:16
Speaker
I've been practicing Robin and she's gonna launch lightning bolt towards Eraqas he has to make a dexterity saving throw which he rolls a three sorry five in total so he's going to take oh geez this isn't working very well so eight for lightning bolt
01:47:35
Speaker
Yeah, I think it's 1d8 for Lightning Bolt. Yep. 25 points of damage. You know, the hits through him. And just as Drago, just as you appear, you see this creep, Eraqas just kind of shaking and shuddering with his energy pouring through his body. Oh, I feel good about seeing that. I do. I feel very good. He's not looking healthy. Let's just say that. That's the end of Tali's turn. Top of the Rhine, Helena. Anything you want to do? No, not really.
01:48:03
Speaker
Okay, just staying with the woman out of combat. Yeah, gonna just stay with her, yeah. No problem. Folly, your turn. You've just seen her get absolutely fucking lit up by Tally and Robin. Dragos reappeared. Claude's down. What do you want to do?
01:48:14
Speaker
Not wanting to really risk any Drago rage, Folow's just going to move south a little bit and put himself in between Drago and where Claude is currently on the floor to try and give himself a nice clean line of sight. And he's going to try and blitz him again with his folly of arrows. I love that name. I love that trademark. Darren, you're losing all your arrows.
01:48:39
Speaker
don't roll a natural one please no i don't want to roll a natural one i know i don't come on calum um i get to roll a d4 as well for blessed so 20 not natural no um you get blessed anymore you don't get blessed that is down do we not no one's blessed nobody in which case again it's a 16
01:49:05
Speaker
And again, it misses the arrows. You should fly overhead and spin back round as your second kind of volley of arrows miss, unfortunately. I'm sorry, I really wanted to hit with these, Callum, because they're so awesome. We're into round nine. Drago, you just reappeared. Get this castle in front of you. What do you want to do? Well, my rage has ended because I didn't take or do or damage when I was in banishment. Absolutely. So my mind is clear. Do I see Claude on the floor?
01:49:34
Speaker
You do. I'm going to disengage from Erica, so move over to Claude and do a medicine thing on him. Okay, so you can't disengage and do the medicine because they're both actions. You can just move away. Am I engaged? Yeah, I was going to say, am I engaged? I just appeared out of thin air. Oh, no, then no, I'll consider you're not engaged. Yes, I was just using flavour text. Yeah, I'm just going to move over to Claude, clasp his hand in my dragon hand.
01:50:04
Speaker
and just be like, your time isn't over yet, friend, and do a medicine roll. Okay, roll your d20. What do I add to this? Your medicine. Sorry about this, man. It's not very high, but it's worth a go. An eight.
01:50:24
Speaker
Okay, you're unable to help him. Well, you think you've helped him, but you're not sure if it's actually done anything. Do I have a potion on me? Karstan, you are still a quivering wreck on the floor. He's completely frozen, like he's just staring blankly. Eraqas, he's going to turn to Robin, sorry, not to Robin, he's going to turn to Drago, who's appeared again, and say,
01:50:50
Speaker
So glad to see you again. And he's going to, in your back, cast Deathly Frostbite, which is this freezing cracking in your skin behind you as he casts it. That is... Countersmell. OK. It's a good trip. I would say. Yeah. No. So it fails.
01:51:18
Speaker
So that was his first. Then he's going to be annoyed at the fact that this keeps happening and instead is going to turn to Folly. Actually he has to move to get to you and he's going to do the same thing again but to you Folly this time. So he's going to move around so he's in line of sight of Folly and is going to look directly at you and cast it on you instead. Oh for fucks sake that's 11 against your armor class.
01:51:46
Speaker
misses then he is out of actions and out of terms that is the end of his turn moving on swiftly we have now claud don't roll don't roll a one 13 13 that's your first pass we have one pass one fail thank you very much claud for that robin your turn what would you like to do okay i'm going to
01:52:14
Speaker
take out ghost bane walk around very calmly and just drive ghost bane as hard as i can into the ribs of erica roll to hit then please robin natural 20 oh shit roll the damage 39 points of damage total then 39 points of damage total that is exactly
01:52:40
Speaker
the amount of damage the amount of hp that erikas had remaining robin how would you like to kill erikas the lunatic okay robin's going to drop his bow and he's going to withdraw ghostbane having seen him decimate his friends he's going to walk around and just as erikas head comes up to him he's going to drive ghostbane into his gut
01:53:08
Speaker
see the squirms of pain in Eraqas's eyes and normally where Robin's quite calm and measured and there's mercy there is none he just pushes the blade further and further and there is no emotion in Robin's eyes as he Eraqas drops to his knees and then Robin eventually puts his boot onto Eraqas's chest and just slides the blade out of him and then just uses his boot to push Eraqas down to the ground
01:53:35
Speaker
And as Erika slumps on the ground, you see a now familiar black ichor leak out of the wounds which now seem to emanate from his body. There is no puff of smoke and ashen signs on the floor like in the Osran Islands. The silence takes over the area as the rushing sound of water returns to the dungeons of the Blackmouth Mines.
01:54:01
Speaker
Claude, you're still down at the moment. Does someone want to do something about that? Should we just continue? Stay in initiative because every six seconds I've got to keep making sayings. Exactly, that's what I'm thinking. So we've just had Robin. Robin, you still have movement and an action. No, you've used your action. So you've still got movement. Would you allow me to a bonus action just to unclip the potion that's on my belt and just hand it to Drago?
01:54:28
Speaker
Yeah, I'll give you that. Okay. And then what Robin's going to do is he's just going to... Instinctively, that's all he's got. All Robin's got in the last final six seconds is to unclip. He sees Claude, and without even thinking, just unclips the potion from his side and just offers it out to Drago. And that's the end of my turn.
01:54:50
Speaker
Okay, thank you very much. Talia is going to use her movement to sprint round, run round, quickly looking. Oh no! Oh god! Someone do something! And that's the end of her turn. Helena, top of the round, you hear a quiet come across the battlefield that have been echoing up from the south of your position. Anything you want to do?
01:55:09
Speaker
I don't think there's anything I can do. I'll wait in anticipation of what's going on. Lovely. Folly, your turn. You're right up next to the fallen Claude with Drago and Tally. What do you want to do? Folly, now obviously seeing the danger has ended, summons from his bag a scroll that he picked up back in the last town. Just a nice scroll of healing word.
01:55:34
Speaker
Not a third tier stock magic scroll. Not a third tier stock magic scroll. No, I'll stay off that one on this particular occasion. But basically, it's 1d4 healing plus my spellcasting modifier. Okay. So nine points of healing.
01:55:53
Speaker
put on to Claude. Thank you very much. Your eyes flicker open as the piercing pain and ringing in your ears starts to slowly subside. As you sit up and look around you can see your comrades, your friends, Tarly.
01:56:09
Speaker
Drago and Folly standing over you, looking concerned. As you look just past Drago, you see Robin stood with Gophbane out with black ichor upon it as he looks down at the body of now the fallen Eraqas. I will, uh... Drago probably isn't putting an arm out, but I'll just... My hands aren't yours, man. Oh, okay. I'll try and pull myself up. I won't say anything. I will pull my executioner axe off the back.
01:56:39
Speaker
put my executioner's hood on, walk up to the body of Erichas, and just cleave the head clean off. And you manage to deftly, almost like you've had years and years of practice, remove the head of Erichas the Lunatic, and he's now in your possession. And I'll just... Does he have long hair?
01:57:04
Speaker
No, he's got no hair. He's like a skull. Okay. I will use his tongue and make a little hole in it and tie it onto my person.
01:57:16
Speaker
Dude, that's brutal. Yep. I love it. Oh God. Amazing. And as the others, you look around, Helena, you probably popped you on the corner at this point and can see this all kind of going on. The wave of combat finally coming to an end. Drago, Claude, the lethargy of haste slowly wearing off as the majority of the party has stood around quite close.
01:57:41
Speaker
proximity after this arduous and actually the longest battle we've actually had 10 rounds on the fellowship of the tabletop and Tali turns to you stood in the middle where's Karstan and as you all look to her that's where we're gonna end this super long combat driven episode of the fellowship of the tabletop where we finally managed to kill Eraqas the lunatic
01:58:05
Speaker
I have no idea. I haven't the world played, Mark. Can I just say two hours, 120 minutes, we were trying to hit that. You think that's two hours? The episode's three hours and 23 minutes. It's going to be interesting edit.
01:58:26
Speaker
But now's not time to talk about that, Mark. Well done. That was amazing fight. I think we all agree. We love you for it. And that was intense. Probably the hardest battle we've ever been.
