Introduction and Theme Acknowledgment

00:00:00
Speaker
Hello everyone, welcome to the Fellowship of the Tabletop, Episode 2. Thank you very much for joining us again.
00:00:06
Speaker
I have a couple of editing notes for you all. If you hear throughout the episode any random background audio, that's not me trying to edit in any songs for dramatic effect. That is the Eurovision song contest that was on when we recorded this episode. Unfortunately my mic placement wasn't particularly good at the time and it caught some of the background audio. And try as I might, I haven't been able to edit it out.
00:00:31
Speaker
Did you hear any screeching or wailing in the background? That is all the Europeans trying to do their country justice musically. I've got a quick shout out to the person who wrote and produced our opening theme song. It was done by a guy called Joseph McDade. He's a friend of the show. If you google his name you'll be able to come up with his website and on there's a list of songs that he's... other songs that he's written and produced as well as links to his social media and Patreon. I heavily
00:00:58
Speaker
suggest you check them out. Anyway, that's enough from me. Enjoy the second episode of the podcast and hopefully see you all next week.

Meet the Players

00:01:35
Speaker
Hello, welcome to the second episode of Fellowship of the Tabletop. My name is Mark, I'm the DM for this session. Well, all sessions actually, I think, just till I get kicked out. We are a D&D Live Play 5e podcast. And with me, I've got four amazing people and characters as well to take us through this amazing adventure. Firstly, we've got Ian. Who's feeling much better?
00:02:01
Speaker
Lies. Roll for deception. You're still dead. You did say in the last episode that you were going to feel better and that your voice would be differing in the next episode. I know. But it's not. For continuity point, I kept a cold by licking the glass on anyone else who had a cold. That's disgusting. Disgusting, but also heartfelt as well. For the podcast, guys. For the podcast. What up? We've got Darren. Anyone want to swap seats?
00:02:32
Speaker
We've also got Will, you're studiously taking notes, I love it. Hi, if you have any lucky D20s you can send me, that'd be great. We've got Callum as well. Greetings all.

Recap of Previous Episode

00:02:45
Speaker
we're going to do is get to the habit of giving a really quick d20 roll to give us a nice quick give you guys a quick breakdown of what happened last session so i'll roll it as well um what we're going to say is that if you roll a 20 you get to pick someone if you get a one you do it you have to do it okay everything else in between just whoever gets the highest okay please all roll your d20 right lowest does it lowest yeah
00:03:10
Speaker
Just go round. I have an 18. Alan, what do you have? 20. Alan's a natural 20, so he could decide. Well, what have you got? 14. 14. I had a 16, and the means guys crashed into mine and made it a 14. So I'm... You get the 14 then.
00:03:26
Speaker
Brilliant, I got 16 because I crashed in days. Good luck, that's some pretty high rolls actually for everyone. So who actually is the lowest? I've got 14, 14. You've got to do 20, you get to just start. I guess two, it doesn't matter what we can roll, you pick. I guess who would you like to pick to start

Night Watch Planning

00:03:41
Speaker
this? I would very, very much like our croaky voiced hero to give us a nice quick recap in his superior tone. That's fine, you got it.
00:03:52
Speaker
Okay, so real quick episode one. We woke up in a mysterious strange place that we don't have a clue other than the DM knows about. We woke up, we walked from the beach to some trees. Two of us went hunting, two of us made camp. An old man in the camp from outside tried to shoot at one of the Scottish girls, missed. Then he introduced himself and we found out that the island is called
00:04:21
Speaker
There you go, see? I knew that. And there was some sort of key information about the N11. Anyway, we've got to survive in his terms for three days before we receive any help. That was it. The party went to sleep. Lovely. Thank you very much for that really rapid recap. As we did leave off, I was trying to finish it off with a really nice bit of wheel kind of close to our eyes before, well obviously reminded me that we need a sleeping order.
00:04:47
Speaker
Can we then quickly decide on an order for sleep? Now, elf bear as an elf, which is handy because it sounds, your name sounds, but like elf here, elf here. Spelt the same, I believe.
00:05:00
Speaker
So, thank you Mark. I need to sleep for four hours. And then the rest of these plebs have to sleep for longer. Okay, so let's decide on an order then. Talia can be part of that. Oh, sorry, Talia is our fifth member of the group who is an NPC that I'm playing as well, and she's a small Scottish girl, and she's a wizard. So there's five that could possibly take part in the watch. So, who would like first watch? Not me.
00:05:22
Speaker
No, Shailar is by far and away too tired. Elfie will volunteer. Thanks, Elfie. Because actually, I can stay up for longer than anybody and then just sleep for four hours. Lovely. So we've got Elfie starting us off. Followed by...
00:05:38
Speaker
Driver's taking the last watch. There's no driver's taking the last watch. I'll take the middle watch. I'll take the middle watch and the chair will take the middle watch as well. Well, after. We can share one. Yeah. And taking us through to the morning. Okay. So we've got that all done. So Elton, could you please give me a perception check, please? This is disadvantage, please, because you still are exhausted to show you the long-lasting.
00:06:09
Speaker
Hold on, hold on. So you rolled two ones last week. This week your first roll again. A natural one. A natural one. I'd like everyone to D20 and borrow. What's your Twitter handle again? What do you want, D20? Yeah, can I borrow a D20? My Twitter handle is... You might pick.
00:06:29
Speaker
My dice are going in dice jail. They're going to stay there in shame for a period of time. They are going to be dice executed. In a total of four rolls, you've rolled three ones. I'm going to bathe them in holy water at some point, it's fine. And these have all been your first rolls. Just you. So, you are blind, apparently. The winds and rains are pummeling down as night takes the island.
00:06:54
Speaker
As you look out from your canopy of trees and you can hear the rust of the wind, your eyes droop ever so slightly. It's a feeling you're not really used to being this tired. Normally you're so alert and so aware that you just seem to be in your own head, which means that you don't really notice much happening else around you. Your watch passes and nothing seems to happen. Say the rain starts to get slightly colder, you know, it's the air change temperature also slightly as the night takes us.
00:07:20
Speaker
It gets quite, so is it, do the clouds now, does the weather stay the same? Does the weather seem to stay? So we don't see starlight, we literally just see. Just see clouds and rain. Cool, thank you. So your watch is over and you're going to wake. I will then meditate, I will then wake up.
00:07:37
Speaker
Robin first, who can then decide what he's doing, if he's peering on up with someone, and then Althea will meditate. Okay, thank you. Shaynar volunteered to do a middle watch as well, do the right watch, so I will wake Shaynar, knowing that I'm tired and that a second pair of eyes could be useful. I love that. Anyway, Shaynar. It's time to watch Shaynar, and I'll be back to talk to Shaynar. Okay, before you do that, can you just roll a perception roll?

Night Watch Antics

00:08:01
Speaker
Just roll a perception roll, normal perception roll, please. Roll a perception? Yeah, just give me the, you have this kind of sensory watch.
00:08:06
Speaker
That is, because I took that as one of my expertise as a row, that is a 19. Lovely, thank you very much. Okay, so I've got a sense of what you were looking at then, okay? Lovely, so what, yeah, top line.
00:08:20
Speaker
As the rain is falling, Robin, at some point, as they're both sat in a campfire, will just say to Shader, don't blame me for what you did, Shader. Jalfia may have chosen to take whatever this creature was and take it as Tiamat. I don't blame you for killing him. But I understand this. I truly believe that Bellprax was just the hand that murdered your sister. Robin, did you see the fear in the eyes of Bellprax as it ran into the cave? It was incredible. I'd not seen anything like it, but...
00:08:50
Speaker
I never knew him, as you did. I only knew him as Bell Prax. I don't forget what I did, but I hope it's something that we can move forward from. Understand this, Jedi, that whatever killed your family also killed mine. Together, I swear to you, we will find the way of avenging them.
00:09:12
Speaker
And that's what Robin would say before just going back into the... and shade or leave it there as well. As you continue to watch as the rain continues to form, you again also notice a shift in temperature, also slightly cooler breeze, so you can feel the cooler air coming in. You can smell the salt, you can hear it off in the distance, the tumultuous ocean, as it seems to be lashing at the sky above it. Ooh, that was nice. Are you waking up next? Well, I guess it's going to be drago next, isn't it? Do you want to wake in, or shall I?
00:09:44
Speaker
I'm feeling better. I'll go for it. Good luck. The shade I was going to cautiously walk over to Drago knowing he's a bit of a grumpy dragonborn and just tired of it. Drago snoring away, by the way. It's like a proper like... He goes to start off by gently
00:10:07
Speaker
Okay, so you can hear the waves and you can hear Drigo snoring. Drigo snoring, take your hands. It's going to be a gentle tap on the shoulder to begin with, just with a little bit of a shake to see if he does stir at all from his deep sleep. I'm aware you're there. I still continue to sleep.
00:10:28
Speaker
the snores become a little bit more defined so they just suddenly change you know when you just kind of wake up like you've got a child who needs your attention you're just like if i if i pantomime snore maybe they'll go away so drago's doing a bit more of a
00:10:52
Speaker
A bit of an age old trick that I used to do with other people when they tried to pull that crap on me. I'm going to take a bit of cloth that I have just carrying round and I'm going to tie it round Drago's nostrils and mouth as he still pretends to... What is this? What? What is the meaning of this? It's your watch.
00:11:23
Speaker
And I take that rag off my nose and I throw it at you. I'm hoping it's full of dragon snot. I'd like to aim at his face. He does feel a bit sloppy. I would also roll to catch as well before it hits my face.
00:11:41
Speaker
I'm going to go for the dickmojo competition. I'm going to steal disadvantage. Give me a disadvantage roll for throwing the rag at Shader's face. Just a d20. Yeah, plus your dex modifier. It's a ranged tag.
00:11:58
Speaker
Oh, that's a shame. That would have been brilliant. That's pretty good. Yeah. Fourteen. Okay, yeah, you managed to toss the rag successfully at Shailon's face. Shailon, would you like to give me an athletic check to see if you can successfully grab the snotty rag... Before when you brought the snotty rag. With a disadvantage, yeah. With a disadvantage, yeah. Okay.
00:12:23
Speaker
And then a two... Seven. So seven overall. You do not manage to catch it in time. You're still a bit groggy from the watch. It's cold, so you're joined to a little bit cold. You've been still for a while. You don't quite get your hand over time. It just hits you on the side of the face and on the neck really. It was still worth it. Draggy's just walking to the watch centre.
00:12:45
Speaker
And that listeners is what we will do. We will not, well ignore the plot and dick around with each other. You still do roll a one. We wish we could say it's the first time the barbarians have done this. This is what the game is going to be. Can you, Drago, could you give me a
00:13:27
Speaker
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
00:13:31
Speaker
No, you don't feel like a snitch. No, you're awake. You stay awake for your watch, but you need to stop really watching and just kind of continue to do bits and pieces. What might you be doing if you're not keeping out of the watch, what kind of things? Taking my sword out, getting a whetstone and just shouting in the blade. Despite my comrades doing a ejaculation hand movement towards my face, Drago does not do... He does not partake in self-pleasure.
00:14:00
Speaker
This is why you roll natural ones, Will. Yeah. So, yes, he would take his greatsword out and he would be just sharpening a whetstone and he would lose himself in that and ignore everything else. OK, thank you. Because everything else is beneath him.
00:14:13
Speaker
As your watch starts to come to an end, the rain continues to fall, but the sun starts to rise ever so slightly, and you get a semblance of light. And as the party starts to stir, the rain finally stops. And for the first time since you've been on this island, there is quiet, except for the ocean. There's no more of that pitter patter of rain, because the relief kind of comes over you as your point of exhaustion, everyone has been relieved. And if you lost one of your points,
00:14:43
Speaker
That was gone as well. Have we managed to dry out some water? Has the fire been able to keep going during the night? Yes, the fire's been managed to keep going because you managed to collect some wood prior to sleeping. The fire that Talia made was good enough to keep it going, or the flame's good enough and then healthier, you managed to continue and keep going. You just made how dry we are now. Dryer. Dryer. You're done.
00:15:06
Speaker
I'd say. There's a measurement, you're not sodden because you probably have some wrong clothes out which were wet and then through the night your body temperature's as well. So it's damp. So what's the, um, Talia kind of sits up and kind of rubs her eyes after having a pretty wet and awful night's sleep. What's the
00:15:25
Speaker
What's the plan, that, man?

Survival Strategy Debate

00:15:27
Speaker
Very simple. Sorry, Tom. You've just got to stay here for three days? Well, you said survive the island. What does that actually entail? Because this seems like a pathetic place to stay. Just, you said survive. Well, should we just stay here, then, and just relax? I'd quite like to... I think Driver wants to... I'm hunting him out. I'm putting it out there. I won't be staying here long. I'm going to go and... You said he hated it off west, right? No. No.
00:15:58
Speaker
Damn it guys seriously seriously he headed east and then I think he started to swing towards the north that would have been brilliant he really could have just gone by drago yes I think I agree with drago I'm not happy just to sit around I certainly think we should
00:16:18
Speaker
try and maybe find, there may be a better place than this to shelter and or find, I'm sure Coyne can probably get us, maybe he was just being an arse. I hope the day of exploring our terrain might be wise rather than trying to antagonise the natives. I'm hunting him down, I'm going to find his footprints.
00:16:37
Speaker
He's the only thing alive worth talking to that we've come across. It's been raining all night. He said there's a settlement. He made it especially clear not to follow him. He made it exactly clear that we should survive on a rain. I'm no one's pawn in this game. All the rain, I don't think you'll find any tracks. I think it'd be difficult to follow. So what do you propose? Stay here in the trees? No, I should only go exploring, but... I say we take better means of our surroundings.
00:17:05
Speaker
See what we can find. We don't know how many days walk either way. I am heading west. Can search for this man. Half rations we can last perhaps five days. Let's start packing up my stuff. And Jardo walks off west, right? Packing up my stuff, packing my stuff. He doesn't say any more. He's just got his head down, he's said his piece and he's just starting to roll up his bedroll and stuff. I'd say in Elvish, he'd just say he's heading west.
00:17:34
Speaker
Yes. Then we'll follow him. We don't need to tell him he's not going in the direction of the man. Well, that is true. I agree. He didn't cut onto the bit. He didn't cut onto the bit I said after it, which is fine. So, yes, I agree. Well, now, Alfie not. Let's follow and I start packing up myself as well.
00:17:55
Speaker
Okay, Tyler kind of nods along. Shit. Okay, we're going west then. Yeah. Just fucked up. Shane and I are going to put on a bit of a grumpy attitude pretending that he's not pleased about trying to keep the entire party together and following this man, but obviously secretly he just knows. Drago. Drago is an idiot. Where, and obviously out of canon, where is he gone? I thought it was west and then he's swag.
00:18:18
Speaker
But he started west. He walked a little bit to the west and then the last thing he saw he kind of swung round to the north. No, that's all I did. Last thing I saw was him to the north. That's fine. I guess you started ahead of east. No. And then went to the north. Oh no, it is east. But we're going west.
00:18:36
Speaker
East the first time. No, so we're all getting confused here. Imagine the trees in the middle, Robin and Drago went west and then did a rainbow round and came back in from the east. He appeared from the west the way in which they first went and went and Drago was trying to smell what he could smell. Right. And then went back west. You saw him kind of curl up towards the Delaware. Because which way is the coach from out of position? South.
00:19:07
Speaker
Okay, I think it's best we stick together. So Drago, if you wanna go find this guy, let's go. Okay, cool. So- Mr. Drago, just a- Mr. Mr. Well, I- Yeah, I looked forward to- Something like that before. You don't have to be so mean to me, Jesus. I wasn't mean, I've never been called Mr. Right, well, you obviously haven't been among nice people, but then, listen- He looks at present company included. Okay, well, you know, maybe you need to spend more time with- I don't know. Listen, you-
00:19:38
Speaker
When you went out on your hunting, was it just the same? Did you see anything outwished that might be useful? We saw, and he looks towards Robin for clarification, we saw some structure in the distance. It looked like the remnants of the building, maybe two stories high. From this distance it looked abandoned, but it might be a good focal point to start from.
00:20:10
Speaker
Yeah, it still used to line up. Let's head there then. I'm heading out of the trees. It's wet. It's wet. That's what it went. Exactly. I'm heading and looking for footprints. Okay. So the structure you saw was to the east. Sorry. The structure you saw was kind of northeast. Dragos wanted to go west.
00:20:35
Speaker
But Drago, surely, Drago, going to this landmark might be... Could he not be from there? Well, I think he headed west. Now, if memory recalls, he might have started heading towards the north. So it might be worth us heading in that direction to start with. And this structure might give us a vantage point to be able to perhaps see if he's from somewhere, we might see
00:20:59
Speaker
buildings. I mean, he did say he owned the land. My dad used to own the land and he used to go wandering around. Yeah. He might just be having a wander. He might not tell us. Or he might be the game keeper and be keeping up poetry. There is too much talking and not enough doing. Let's head north. No, I'm going west and I'm going to try and find his footprints. I start scaling the ground to where the west was and trying to descend the footprints in the ground. Okay, so draggers go off to the west.
00:21:29
Speaker
to look for footprints to see what's going on there. Elphie, Shader, and Robin. Tali, are you going to come in as we're heading towards the structure north? Yeah, I think that seems like a sensible thing. I'll come with you. And Tali's going to just cut him onto the end of that. So we're looking for footprints as the pipe splits for the first time. Drago, we're heading north towards the structure if you fail to find anything. You know where we are.
00:22:14
Speaker
how he introduced himself to other side but hardly be surprised if he's watching us now. You guys kind of start walking off towards the North East to where Robin can lead you where he saw the structure. Bear in mind, I think I said it was about a day's
00:22:19
Speaker
I'll be fine. I'll be fine. I'll be fine. I'll be fine. I'll be fine. I'll be fine. I'll be fine. I'll be fine. I'll be fine. I'll be fine. I'll be fine. I'll be fine. I'll be fine.
00:22:32
Speaker
that's the direction but he went that way so there's a chance we might um i'm looking out for signs of passage as well but you probably do it here um so as you start to walk away do i go you look and probably master into yourself i've looked down to the ground and start to try and make out any tracks anything you can discern from uh your publication could you give me a investigation check please yes you're not with disadvantage the first non-disadvantaged
00:22:56
Speaker
Oh, my investigation is poor. You do a lot of investigating though, don't you? I know, because I like being alone. So yes, I would be muttering to myself, self-righteously, like a fool. It's like, no, I'll show them. I'll show them all the one person on this island. I'm going to find him.
00:23:17
Speaker
So I've ordered four which means a lovely six in total. Luckily you're not blind though. As you look down in the ground you notice puddles around from the rain that's been left over.
00:23:35
Speaker
And you can kind of make out where your party have kind of come from. You can see the five sets of tracks walking in, two tracks go out, two tracks go out. You can kind of make out where everyone's kind of come, gone. And then most of those are kind of filled in the water. And you can then also see very clearly in the mud, fresh, one single pair of fresh footprints that seem to be facing into the camp that are much, much, much newer
00:24:04
Speaker
from that time you can probably discern that they were there just before dawn because they're that fresh, there's no puddings of water in their fresh footprints. Aside from those two very clear human-looking footprints, there are no other footprints around that you can kind of make out where they come or go from, unfortunately. I'm so sorry, Diem. Joago carries on west and is just on the lookout.
00:24:33
Speaker
for any evidence or sign in his pure belligerence and not wanting to return to the party with his dragon tail between his legs. So he'll just head off and with the hopes to stumble upon something. I'm so sorry. We'll see you next session. I know, I know. So that'll be me done.
00:24:57
Speaker
Okay, so you start walking off, you actually meet the coastline at some point and you start kind of following it along. You see more of the same kind of dark or obsidia-coloured rocks that seem to make up this coastline with a dark sand underneath it. Aside from that, the scenery stays very similar to what you've come across previously. You keep an eye out for prints, the bushels and the little tufts of grass amongst the rocks seem to continue.
00:25:23
Speaker
as you follow along this coast, hoping to come across some sign of this man that the party seemed to have met earlier yesterday. Returning to you guys, we're walking and we can see a speck of a distance as Robin points towards the area where this structure seems to be and you can, Elfie especially, your elf eyes can make

Approaching the Structure

00:25:46
Speaker
out. What can your elf eyes see? They can make out a small structure
00:25:49
Speaker
ever so slightly off in the distance and you can start working your way towards that. Just as an FYI I did this as a side note because we can do stealth for like the first time. We can, we can. I will be looking out for as we're going any signs of like travel routes and like because obviously there may be tracks that you use a lot just and it's just keeping an eye out and I think just
00:26:13
Speaker
Trying to take in, get an idea of where we are. Yeah, absolutely. We've got a very high natural perception having you as well. What is your kind of passive perception? Um, passive perception is to 16. Yeah. So I'll bear that in mind anyway, that you're constantly kind of all looking out for that kind of stuff as well. Is there any conversation about anything that wants to take place on this walk? It's not something like that. It's quiet now. It's not here. What do the rest of us think?
00:26:45
Speaker
His recklessness has often been the brunt of boring any damage that we encountered. The problem is, what I don't want him to do is go out there and start murdering locals. Well, we can't control that. No, but, you know... This is an unfamiliar place. Exactly. Unfamiliar people and unfamiliar territory. If the worst should happen and Drago beat Drago,
00:27:11
Speaker
at the very worst case we can disown him. I've learned one thing about Drago. He'll either kill or get himself killed. I have no doubt that those are the two kind of paths available to him. One of those I'm very happy with, one of the others we can deny. Talia picks up at this point. He didn't kill me. When I was meeting you guys. But he wasn't exactly happy. And let's say you were a man who owned land and was going to offer help if he acted like he did towards you.
00:27:41
Speaker
I hope you'd rather angry, like ask Firebolt on him or something. And then he would then react, and unfortunately, Draugr tends to get into a lot of trouble. Oh yeah, I can imagine. He's quite an angry man. He's a very angry man. Angry man, you're a dragon man. Yeah, he's an angry dragon boy. Go on, what do you like? Can you, I have everyone roll, except for Draugr. Can everyone roll a perception, please? Take your pass over to Tyre.
00:28:04
Speaker
Let's go with Robin to start with, what was your 25? 25, my lord. Elthu? 22. 22 and Shader. I won the four foot dwarf. 12. 12, that's still a double digit number compared to a normal rules no Shader, so that's much better. Lovely, you hear a slight call. I bet it. That sounded like your butt.
00:28:36
Speaker
like that just off from behind you towards the coast and as you swivel back you do see a single bird kind of flying inland it's flying quite low and you would be in range possibly to shoot at it if you will but I will say what is your regular range of hours 120 feet? I've got a sharp shoot
00:29:01
Speaker
I was right for it. I think 400 for a long bow. Is it 400 and that counts at disadvantage? No, it's a shout shoot, it's been ignored long range. Okay, so this is within your kind of remit. You could shoot it if you so wish. Does it look like, is it a sea bird or is it a land, is it a predator? It looks like a sea bird. So a sea bird. From your experiences of birds of the sea on your time here on the sea coast, it could be a seagull.
00:29:32
Speaker
Is it flying inland? That's the first bird we've seen. I'd go for my arrow but I'd put it away and go it could be much more useful as a navigator at this point.
00:29:48
Speaker
Yes, and it's odd there's only one. It's not going to feed us, but it could be heading in the direction of the substance. Or somewhere, shelter indeed, it could. Good idea. Which way is it heading? It's heading north, so it would fly kind of over your left shoulder and be off at your kind of ten o'clock. Where's the structure in relation to this? Your twelve o'clock. Shall I keep my eye on it?
00:30:13
Speaker
I suggest we keep heading towards the structure and keep track of the bird. It's odd that it's only on its own now. It just doesn't quite seem usual. Well, we'll keep tracking it and at least we have a direction now. I'll have to leave that to you two. To me, that's food. Yes. You're warm and welcome to try and throw that thing at him. I nod towards the axe a little bit.
00:30:33
Speaker
It seems to carry on in its trajectory north and then start to pick up altitude as well into the kind of foot, so almost into the distance, out of view, into some kind of mist further away. You continue walking towards a structure, right? We keep getting closer and closer towards it. As you get probably within about 500 feet of this structure, you notice that behind the structure,
00:31:05
Speaker
broken wall of a building, which looks like it's built out of the stones, the same dark rock off the cliffs. It looks to have had almost, the top of it seems to have a slight arch to it, it seems to have almost a point of colour effect above it, which is not what you're used to seeing in that kind of stonemasonry work. So you're recognising it. However, before you get close enough for that, you notice behind the structure a massive
00:31:34
Speaker
something huge just kind of move behind it ever so slightly. I suggest a cautious approach. By that I mean, sorry, behind the structure you can kind of see through the window as well. So behind the window seems to kind of move and something behind the hole. I wonder whether it's fine now. Yeah, whether it's fine. If it's raining we can hide properly. This structure was, what, Dave's walk? I think it was slightly closer. Yeah, we've been, we've picked up pace and just kind of
00:32:03
Speaker
How far away are we from construction? 500 feet. So I don't know what time of day is it, roughly. Oh no, sorry, late afternoon. We're going to mid to late afternoon. Perhaps we should. What's the natural light like in the area? Is it well lit or are we... Yes, it's still... I'm the bad man. I'm the bad boy. It's still well lit. Damn. Okay. Not sure. Otherwise I can... Well, it's 500 feet.
00:32:30
Speaker
I suggest we go cautiously. I agree. And stealthily, maybe we should. I mean, we've tried. If it's seen us, then there's no chance, but we could try. I agree. If it's seen us. If it's seen us. If it's seen us. A huge, short-wearing man. I think we'd like to continue closer, but this time, perhaps, going stealthily. OK, could you all roll stealth, because entirely we'll roll stealth as well. She rolls a natural 20. Wow. She becomes the shadows. 10. Robin? 10. Oh, lordy. Hang on.
00:33:00
Speaker
I've got a 10 and finally but not the least out of it. I've got a advantage to our roll. Why? Because I've got the cloak of elven can, you have advantage on dexterity stealth checks, make the hunt. Thank you for mentioning that for our listeners. Thank you. I've got a... I've got 25. 25, yes. I rolled a 15.
00:33:26
Speaker
All right, we get it. You've got bad... That's great. That's a great amount of drag on the party. You never get to use it.
00:33:34
Speaker
It's like having all the gold in the world, but no one would spend it. It's like rain on your wedding day. That's not learning. Don't you think? Don't you think? So you managed to move up with quite the deft touch amongst you. I wasn't enjoying the fact that you get to try to do this and move stealthily. As you get closer, you notice that this thing that's behind it seems to have wool. It seems to have long, shaggy hair to it.
00:34:03
Speaker
and then you suddenly realise that what you thought you could see behind it
00:34:07
Speaker
its head comes up and you realise how massive this thing is you can see a mammoth behind this structure as it kind of comes up and kind of shakes its face and there's a tree or two behind the structure as well and it kind of rubs itself against it and then kind of steps out slightly looking around the trees to grab leaves and kind of put them into its mouth in this huge, huge mammoth steps out from behind this structure.

Mammoth Encounter

00:34:35
Speaker
What would you like to do?
00:34:37
Speaker
I think we pause and go... Can I make a history check to see if I've perhaps ever seen a pitch one of these in a book at all, as being 300 years old? Otherwise this is an entirely new creature to all of us. Yes, give me a history check please.
00:34:51
Speaker
I thought it was happening, Robin was going with his bow, but the sheer majesty inside of it, he's almost overwhelmed with awe at seeing it, and he just lets the bow down. 18. 18, yes. You've come across these. They are known from where you're from. There's stories of them on the Sword Coast, and prior to that as well, you've heard stories of these huge elk-like elephant cross animals that have roamed. That's maybe known in the north perhaps, but that's it.
00:35:22
Speaker
I am studying it with my Know Your Enemy, just so I can find out some things about it. Okay, yep. I get to just remind me, and this is what Know Your Enemy does. I will check the player's handbook just to reaffirm myself that I get this right. Thank you. I'll take your word for it. You can buy the player's handbook from all good retail stores. Or use D&D. Or use Mabel via D&D Beyond. Or use D&D Beyond. It's hard for you to...
00:35:44
Speaker
I am allowed to ask you, I have to spend the minute looking at it, and I'm allowed to ask the... So the number stands there for 59 seconds, and then it instantly splits away. I'm allowed to ask you to do the outside of combat, you can then send a message to the room, do attention to the creature, Eagle Superior.
00:36:04
Speaker
and two of the following characteristics. Let's say again to everyone, so I can tell how to land it. So how this officially works is I from studying this can discern certain things about it. There are a list of things that I can ask which are strength score, dexterity score, constitution score, armour class, current hit points, class level, if you have a class I doubt the man that does, or fighter class.
00:36:28
Speaker
to me. Again, doubt it. So two out of those words. And I have the answer superior, equal or higher.
00:36:39
Speaker
I would like to know... So have your stats ready as well so you can... I'm ready. My armour class is currently 17. I would like to know what its armour class is in relation to me. Inferior. Thank you. I would also like to know its current hit points, which I sis at 77. Superior. That creature, I've seen it in books. I think you can sometimes perhaps find the odd giant that might have one, but that's not something
00:37:11
Speaker
I don't know many that I've ever seen. I've never seen such a thing before. No. And Shader, you're looking at it hungrily. I'm... No. I say to Shader, it looks pretty sturdy, my friend. And this is someone else's land. Let's not be poaching.
00:37:29
Speaker
Shader will go and walk up to it and start approaching him, but cautiously... It's caution, he's not trying to do stealth, he's doing this slowly. To try and not be deemed even though, compared to the moment this dwarf coming near it is extremely tiny, he's still approaching him cautiously, to not be seen as anything. What's your height? I am four foot.
00:37:57
Speaker
So he's approaching it cautiously, trying to get close to him. Basically all he wants to kind of do is just make sure that this huge creature in front of him sees him as a friend, so he's kind of just palm open out kind of thing for now. I'm trying to animal handling this. Perhaps you would like to get animal handling, too. I think I'm going to ask you to roll for, yeah, roll to d20 for animal handling.
00:38:28
Speaker
You're proficient in that skill, aren't you, Colin? Yes, I am. I am proficient in it. What did you roll? I rolled a four as a basis thing. I get a boost for it and it will take you to nine. The mammoth does kind of look over to you, catches you out of the freezes for a second and you walk even closer to your turns.
00:38:48
Speaker
kind of flaps its ears once or twice, it moves round over so slightly, lowers its head down to see you, as you move closer it starts to jutter over so slightly and then lets out this loud, loud cry and then starts kind of, what am I trying to say, trundling towards you at the same time.
00:39:07
Speaker
quicker and quicker and quicker as it picks up its pace towards you. Can we all roll initiative, please? Oh, shit. Meanwhile, actually, before we go to that, meanwhile, Drago sees one of us. I'm all alone. Flies away as he used to walk down. There's no one here beside me. So you're still walking to the west? Yes.
00:39:27
Speaker
Okay. Joago's having a good time. He's by himself. He's trying to discern anything that's going on. No. Yes, he's just walking to the west until that's the only information he knows. I even told you of something else and you've forgotten that again. It's great. Alright, can we kill him a little bit of rudely? So, the way we're going to do combat for this is that we're going to have him on board and on that because we helped him. It's just a...
00:39:54
Speaker
However, what we will try our best to do is describe what's happening, kind of fit into the mind, but we also like to play with maps as well, so it's a bit of both of those. Because we have miniatures. We do indeed. I'm just going to go grab the maps. Hey Ian, do you want to get your... Oh no wait, you don't need your miniatures. I mean, he's not likely to be trampled by a... You don't will, but he could be the only one of those.
00:40:13
Speaker
Okay, we've got the map. It's all set up now. Shader, where I've got you is just to the left of the structure that you can see up in the distance, the two-storey structure with the window. The mammoth is going to be in front of you also. He's going to be played by a single figure because I don't know how many... Actually, he'll be played by a teacup because teacups are big. Wow. And because the teacup will replicate the kind of space that this mammoth is taking out. Huge. What's about four? Ten feet across.
00:40:41
Speaker
And probably in relation to it as tall as the teacup as well, in relation to poor Oceania. Maybe it wasn't tall actually. So you're about now probably 30 or 40 feet away from it. Elphir, Talia and Robin. This is you Robin. That's Talia and that's Talia, this is me.
00:40:58
Speaker
are with Elphir at the edge of the map looking at this giant man if he started to kind of trundle in on them. So please may I have your initiative order. Did anyone get 20 plus? 21. 21. 20. So Robin at 21 and Shader at 20. 15 to 20.
00:41:21
Speaker
10 to 15. So with my plus nine to my initiative, I rolled a three, so I'm at number 12. Oh well, Theo. Hey, with a plus nine to my initiative, it doesn't actually matter what I roll, mate. Fair enough. And to start us off, Robin, first attack or first move of our comeback, what would you like to do? I'm going to take the high option.
00:41:47
Speaker
first off the bat because i'm not entirely sure how this is going to go down i think we need to be you need to be you need to screw yourself we can do that yeah seems to go behind a tree and then take that there are a couple of trees kind of dusted around this space i'm going to then move i'm just going to back in and draw an arrow
00:42:04
Speaker
But then I'm going to take the hide option. Not to rule for it. So you're going to move in behind the rest of the country. So I've literally just gone back left on myself and just tucked behind that kind of foil that's there. OK, I've been taking the hide option. Lovely, thank you very much. Do you just need to roll? Do you want me to roll still for that? Yes, sorry, yes. Well, the creature knows where he is. Yeah, give me a still for a cruise. That is a 17.
00:42:24
Speaker
Yeah, you managed to successfully hide yourself, almost like the mallet is more concerned with what's going on with Shader than what's going on with you. Shader, your turn, what do you have to do? Well, Shader's not going to be able to hide from this thing, as it's spiraling down towards him probably at quite a high speed. So what he's going to do is rage to begin with, because he needs protection from this thing, but he's actually going to ready a dodge.
00:42:51
Speaker
action instead of attempting to take this thing. You can just take the dodge action. Straight off. Yeah, you can't do it when you just take it. Well, yeah. So dodge, so when that thing had its turn, it couldn't happen. Yeah, exactly. Fine. Yeah, that's where you're taking the dodge action. I will take the dodge action. Lovely, thank you all. Look at that, two prepared actions off the bat. No one's wanting to do... I've only just realised the size comparison between my character and this thing. I mean, I did make it out that you could see the figure through the second story. I know, I know, but still. It's a woolly mammoth.
00:43:20
Speaker
I know. Can I just check? Could you hear echo from the west coast? Dm, can I just check this structure just off to the west? Does that exist? Sorry, yes. After the left of where you are, that does exist. You would not have been able to have seen it until now because it was obscured by the trees and by the building in front of it. So there is a second equally broken down old structure that seems to have had some walls in a very dilapidated state. We're talking maybe 100, 200 years old from your knowledge at the moment.
00:43:51
Speaker
Lovely, thank you. Elphard, your turn. Elphard's going to turn to the group and perhaps turn to say, we're not here to just mindlessly slaughter things, let's try and scare it away rather than just butcher it and he's then going to move sort of up and to the left behind Shader. So he's going to move 30 feet so he's just back into the
00:44:25
Speaker
am I actually going to go far left of Shader and I'd like to take the hide action then in these trees to try and hide as well. Okay so they're hiding as well. Join me to roll. Yes please give me a stealth please. 17. Yep yeah absolutely fine so you managed to dodge between the trees and again this man with his more interested in in Shader to be able to do anything he doesn't even look at you he's going for it. Hopefully I understood what I just said.
00:44:53
Speaker
Talia is going to launch a firebolt but she's going to launch it in front of it so she fires up over the top of Shader and it lands on the ground between Shader and the wooly mammoth hoping that she's listening to what you've said and she's trying to figure out a way to scare this beast away.
00:45:17
Speaker
It is not scared away. It doesn't seem to be affected by that because it's the mammoth's turn and the mammoth is going to continue to trundle forward towards Shader. He starts to lower his or her, can't tell if he's having a look at the genitalia or this wooden mammoth yet.
00:45:40
Speaker
lower its head down as well, and this one's a running position, like it's building up speed, it doesn't look like it's slowing down, it's looking like it's going to be aggressive. Top of the round, Robin, what do you like to do? OK, I'm going to use the search option to survey what's going on here. Is there any sense that there's anything else in the proximity, any immediate danger? Give me a perception check, please, Robin. OK, Robin, he takes his perception.
00:46:07
Speaker
and he rolled a 22. And this is the only man that's there, the rest of the surroundings seem to be as quiet as the rest of the other islands as you've explored them so far. This seems to be the only thing in the vicinity that you need to worry about at the moment. That's the end of my turn, I'd like you to search into an action. Yeah, absolutely. Okay, thank you very much. Shader, your turn. We're a raging barbarian. I am a raging barbarian.
00:46:37
Speaker
doo-doo-doo. He's realising he's not going to stop this great, big, literal mammoth. He's going to try and hinder it a little bit. He doesn't want to get too close to it, so he's going to throw his mighty axe of Olaf for
00:46:55
Speaker
The listeners, as they heads up, for those who are not aware of this weapon, basically, as I can throw it, it will return to me naturally, but I can only do it once per round. So I can throw it once, that's it, but I will have it back for the next term for clarification. So I will, first, I'll throw on my text about aiming, which obviously for its legs, just to try and weaken or at least slow down its approach to me. Okay, lovely, yeah, I'll go for that, thank you. Cool.
00:47:23
Speaker
And I roll 21. That hits. And damage it takes.
00:47:33
Speaker
What do I add to it again? 6 because I've made a show. 11, 19 points of damage. I need that splitting or... No, no, no, thank you very much. I'm so great at maths, guys. I'm like so into maths. So good at maths. Thank you very much, Shader. Is there anything else you want to do? Any movement? Yes, I'm actually just going to move.
00:47:54
Speaker
to this side, to the left of the map, to the right-hand side, well, my right, to the left-hand side of the map behind the structure that we'd all kind of come to investigate in the first place. You're still...
00:48:10
Speaker
Well, either way, the structure is to shade ours back. Yes. You've still got eyes on the mammoth, but the structure is to shade ours back. Nice. OK. Lovely. Thank you very much. My turn there. Loggy, thank you very much. Elphir, your turn. What would you like to do? I'd like to cast Minor Illusion. OK. I'd like to cast Minor Illusion. And essentially, I'm going to use Minor Illusion to create
00:48:41
Speaker
and a large, like a big flash of light about 10 feet in front of it to essentially try and scare it and start it and rush it away. Okay, do you need to do any checks for that or is that just? So the creature uses action essentially it happens
00:49:06
Speaker
You create sound or its volume can range from a whisper to a scream. If you create an image or object or something, it must be no longer in the five foot cube. Oh sorry, it can't create light, so actually I'm going to create a massive, I'm going to make it sound like a massive roar of some kind of predator from where I am. From where you are. Sorry, because I can't, it can't set up light. So it's a massive roar of a predator from my direction. If it wants to investigate, it has to make
00:49:38
Speaker
I don't think it's allowed us to do much investigating. No. I'm going to just roll and say, yep. OK. It definitely hears it. It starts, or it fights it. OK. You notice its eyes kind of grow wide and open as well after it hears that. Because I'm hoping it will cover up. And then that's my action. So, yeah. Talia, thank you very much. Talia's turn. She's going to see a little shadar. Love is acting.
00:50:07
Speaker
Manus kneecap pretty much at his front right leg and this sudden loud, visceral roar comes from Malthea's direction. For a second she turns, almost hoping it was Drago, but she looks over and can see no giant dragonborn approaching out of the shrubberies.
00:50:26
Speaker
And she looks back towards the mammoth and he's going to launch another firebolt, almost to try and match where Shadaa has hit his as well. He gets a seven overall and therefore misses it, flies off over the top and then disappears as her magic kind of reaches its final range. And she kind of, ah shit, she swears to herself under her breath. The mammoth is going to, after this war happens,
00:50:51
Speaker
is going to adjust its course ever so slightly. It's going to, because it's moving at quite a fast pace here, take a few, it will bypass Shader and start to almost curl itself round the building. It's moving itself away from the noise, but obviously it can't slow itself down, it's such a giant thing. So Shader, you've missed it for now, but it still, its eyes are massively distorted and it doesn't seem like it's being spooked running away, like it's just,
00:51:18
Speaker
Yeah, that's where we are at the moment. Third round, Robin, what would you have to do? So it doesn't seem like it's running away. It just seems like it's moving away from that noise. You can't tell. You can't tell. OK, I'm going to say to Tally, it doesn't know we're here. Let's see where it goes. And I am going to... I'm going to ready a dash, which means if it comes round there,
00:51:48
Speaker
Robin's going to bowl out in front of it. So Robin says I'm going to ready a dash, so should it come this way towards yourself and Talia, then you're going to move. I'm going to say to her as well, if it comes this way, get ready to run. OK. So you've ready that dash. Shader, your turn. The man has just pulled on past you at some incredible speed. You get a real sense of the size and the scope of this creature. What do you want to do?
00:52:15
Speaker
Shaydhar is still not trying to kill it at the moment, he's just trying to I suppose slightly hinder it or scare it off but hopefully by injuring it it's just going to limp off and then recover by itself at a later stage. So he's just going to move a few feet to turn and face the back now of the mammoth as it's running away from him.
00:52:37
Speaker
What he's basically going to throw is actually going to try and go for another one of his feet just from the back. Okay, yep, lovely. Go for that shot then. And I roll 19. Oh 19. Good roll so far, Callum. Right, so yeah, that hits. Well, they're not natural ones. Hang on.
00:52:55
Speaker
damage only, that is 13 points of damage. 13 points of damage, lovely. Thank you very much, so this hits into the muscle, I've got a hamstring wheel on the back, left leg, and it kind of takes the hit and it continues to move on its path. Elphie, your turn, what should I have to do?
00:53:19
Speaker
who's heading in that direction. So it's heading sort of, it's curved around the ruin to get back to Shader. That's what you're saying. Elthir will turn position where Shader, you threw your axe, didn't you? He's gonna say, Shader, get away from it, find some cover, and let's get out of here. And Elthir will continue to stay where he is.
00:53:48
Speaker
and see whether we can just, like, get away from this mammoth. Okay. Perhaps just break this line of sight and just leave. Or let it leave. Let's have a look. So, odds. She does it.
00:54:02
Speaker
and I keep the rule going. Does it last a minute? Yeah, so that's going on for 10 minutes, isn't it? Yeah. Cool. Tylie's listened to what you said, but in the panic of the situation, she just tries to strike out. She sees Shadoff still trying to hit this thing and slow it down, and it's going to fire another firebolt at its
00:54:19
Speaker
It's the front right one that Shayla initially hit, which does indeed make contact and it takes six points of fire damage from that leg. You can see the fire and smoke singe the leg area of the mammoth as well. Tylee is going to tuck herself in quite close to Robin behind the tree to try and get some more cover. Suddenly thinking that was a really bad idea.
00:54:44
Speaker
The mammoth as its roots moving away from this roaring noise continues to curl round itself and back on itself and it kind of ends up in the ruins. However, what it does is... Yep, it manages to absolutely pummel its way through the ruins as it starts to curl itself back round again.
00:55:07
Speaker
towards the party, but it's still not quite made around. It's still got about 180 degrees to turn itself around. It can't just turn on the spot because it's still moving at quite some speed. But as it hits the structure, the two-storey structure, it starts to crumble and the rest of it kind of falls into just rubble on the ground as it's just absolutely running through the structure. You can probably tell from that this is what's happened to this building if this mammoth is local to this part of the Austrian islands. And that's the mammoth's turn. Robin, your turn.
00:55:39
Speaker
Does it appear to be still continuing its trajectory with it? You can't tell at this point. You can tell it's turning and coming through the building. I'm going to come, I'm going to, while it's moving, I'm going to move 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, get to this one and hide behind this one. So you've moved kind of more into the centre of the map? I've moved into the centre of the map. A man would do. And I just turn to Tally and go, have I did last time? Don't do it again with it.
00:56:14
Speaker
Is that what you want to do, you want to say hi-bye? Yeah, okay, yeah, we're all still forgetting, please. I'll spend a luck point on that. Why would you rather two? Okay, yeah, so you're spending one of your luck points for a day? It's not great, but it's better. It's a 14.
00:56:26
Speaker
Okay, as far as you're aware, it doesn't seem to see you. Is that all you're doing? Yep. Lovely, thank you very much. Shadar, your turn. You've done 32 points of damage to this thing so far. Yeah, still just moving on. Lead DPS, another party thing. Shadar sees this thing as just trampled straight through the structure. Obviously he's now viewing this thing more as just
00:56:57
Speaker
Kind of a familiarity with it, it's in its own rage, it might not actually stop, it might just keep going until it gets tired, which who knows how that one could actually be. No, his comrades are round, it's a little bit of a threat, but Shadon's always in a bit of a rage himself, so he's not too sure. He's still just trying to not kill it entirely, just hinder it enough so it becomes less of a threat, where we might be able to make a clear escape, because he does not think for a second that we can actually kill this thing.
00:57:26
Speaker
So he's going to roll for attack on the same leg as what both he's attacked before and Tari's attacked before. Gotcha, yeah. So we'll just roll for that. Oh, for god's sake, it's an eight. Oh, eight. And I've just realised, I get dual attacks and I've been going for one. No, no. I'm going for an anti. Is that what I was doing? Is that including any modifiers? That's including my modifiers to show.
00:57:58
Speaker
And then it goes, it's kind of falling to the rubble but instantly just appears back in your hands at the end of that. So unfortunately you do miss that one. Elphir, your turn. This thing's starting to spin itself back, right? You've seen it just demolish this two-story building as it runs through. Yeah. I'm going to cast Darkness.

we're back to your cast again so it's a 15 foot circle centering just in front of it I'm hoping if this giant ball of darkness appears now this doesn't interrupt the

noise i'm still making through still a loud noise coming from here but this is a concentration yes so the dark sky occurs with the other one it just lasts for a minute yeah uh so we've still got another 10 uh a few rounds uh but so it's going to be centered just in front of uh i think it's a five ten fifteen so it essentially ends just in front of shade up but will encapsulate in front of

Speaker
this mammoth. Okay, yep. That's the angle it's facing at the moment. So this large ball of darkness appears here. Between you and the mammoth. You're part of the party in the mammoth. Yeah, I'm hoping that the mammoth will see this thing and perhaps get spooked by it.
00:59:20
Speaker
run off. Okie dokie, this tiny trickle of light begins as a small bead on the ground spreads out into a large spherical shape of just darkness, no light enters, no light is returned and you can hear a hum from it as well.
00:59:40
Speaker
Thank you very much. Talia takes your word of wisdom this time and she second act for 20 for Talia or the mic I would just say. Stealth her ass off behind the tree. She becomes a leaf and disappears behind the tree taking your advice on it. I already rolled for you and I'm off.
00:59:59
Speaker
You see the man that just disappeared for a second as it kind of enters this darkness. Well, totally, yeah. And then you see it as it does appear at the other side at a totally different angle now, heading away from your party. It seems to have been successful in managing to spook this monolithic creature. Robin, your turn. Anything you want to do? I appear out from behind the tree. I see that it appears to be leaving.
01:00:28
Speaker
and I will ready a shot in case this goes awry and it comes charging back towards Shader. But apart from that, I'm just going to let it go. Okay, Shader anything for me? In all favor, I'll see it going away, he's no longer a threat, I'm just going to let it go on its merry way. Out there? Same. Okay, and Tyler's not going to do much anyway, and the mammoth is, his next move, moving, hits through these trees, further away from the party, and just kind of tries
01:01:00
Speaker
We didn't kill the nature. You didn't kill the nature. It didn't kill you. You didn't kill it. That's like a really weird combat mode. Oh, combat! Let's not fight it.
01:01:14
Speaker
I don't want to just start slaughtering nature. That was a very interesting bit of comment. So as you see a kind of trundle off into the distance that the camera's going to pan over, flies along the Ozrin coast, and you can see the footprints, they are footprints as well, along the coast of a rather

downtrodden. It's raining on this part of the island as well, because you've walked for a day almost in separate directions.
01:01:36
Speaker
No, no, it's raining just on the west coast. It's a kind of pathetic fallacy, if you will. He's fine. You see this dragonborn kind of trudging through the wastelands of this area of the Uzren Islands. In front of you, you do see a figure appear finally off into the distance. And it's a figure, and you see a smaller creature down by its feet as well. And he's just standing there with his arms crossed. As you get closer, he goes, all that!
01:02:08
Speaker
I recognise you. I think you're the one I've been looking for. What do you want with me, young man? I refuse to play your game, old man. What game may I ask you think you're playing? Your pitiful trial. You wait here three days and I will come back for you. I am no one's pawn in a big game. Tell me what this place is.
01:02:37
Speaker
take me to a place where others reside. I will get to the bottom of why we're here and you're my first step in a bigger puzzle. You're either going to help me or you're going to regret not helping me. He takes a moment looking at you in the eye in silence as the rain starts to come down he looks down towards his dog
01:03:01
Speaker
And by now you notice it's the same, it's the kind of leather clad poncho, gray beard, black head dog. He just sits down on the floor in the rain. Sit down young man. Let me tell you something. As you sit in front of me takes another second and have you ever lived in a place where the actual elements attack you? Where the earth comes to life
01:03:32
Speaker
where the sea stands and the winds roar and physically hurt you and your family. Have you ever lived in such a place? You have no idea what I've been through, me or my family. That's why I'm asking you a question, young sir. Here on the Osrin Islands we face unknown and unparalleled perils.
01:03:58
Speaker
Our small tribe of people trust no one for a very good reason, the same reason you are probably looking for answers. You must understand that I am not the leader, I am not playing a game, I am not a proan or whatever it is you might have called me earlier, or you a proan for that matter. However, we have rules and conditions here that I am not in control of. I am just a fisherman.
01:04:27
Speaker
But I know for a fact that if I was to take you back to my settlement, my life would be in danger. Your life is in danger right now. I have a choice about that danger, not this one. I want to look after my people too. You must understand that if you can prove yourself strong and worthy,
01:04:50
Speaker
Think of it this way, the Osrin Islands haven't been visited by a dragonborn, a dwarf and some kind of elf and I'm armed in many, many years. We are a human island and when you come here and I get told you've
01:05:04
Speaker
A boat has brought you here. I'm the only one who goes out in those oceans. I'm the only one that goes in the cold Gulf. So why would you lie to me? How can we trust you? It was not a boat that brought us here. And be aware that you did not speak to me. No, I'm very aware of that. And that others do not speak on my behalf. Of course, every man in Dragonborn for himself. I woke up here.
01:05:31
Speaker
And I am trying to find out where I am, what's going on. And all I see is a little man and his dog getting in my way. I was born here. I woke up here. I walked my lands. And I see four or five unknown people lying to me. I will take you to where you need to be to get some answers. But I have to be able to believe that I have done everything my settlement would have asked of me.
01:05:59
Speaker
To be able to do that. So why can't you tell them that I have indeed waited three days? Because I'm not a liar. And I cannot do that to my family. Oh, you're not going to go back to your family if you don't take me to this settlement. He looks down in size. I stand up. And I withdraw my sword. You've got a choice, old man.
01:06:26
Speaker
you can give me the heading to your settlement and I will depart by myself there you need not be involved all your life can end here because right now you are blocking my path and the man slowly looks up still seated looks you in the eye it's a sharp intake of breath and we'll find out what he says next episode
01:06:55
Speaker
on the Fellowship of the Tabletop. Thank you so much for listening everyone. I'm sorry to leave you on the cliffhanger, but Drago, you built that up beautifully. Cliffhanger, ready to fall. I got to do something from my boneheaded decision at the start of the episode. I'm going to travel west.
01:07:15
Speaker
You idiot. So much for listening. Thank you for getting through your second episode. I hope you've enjoyed it. Sorry, I'm taking over. No, that's okay. That's all right. I'm still kind of reveling in the fact of, unfortunately, killing an old fisherman. I'll take his dog. I'll take his dog and I'll have it. And eat it. I love how you have the party kind of juxtaposition of three of us sparing the life of an ancient mammoth and another one threatening to murder an old man.
01:07:41
Speaker
Yeah, completely. It's good. You know when you start going down the path and you're like, oh damn it, I've got to carry this dude. But inside you're like cringing with every word you say.
01:07:53
Speaker
