Robin storms back towards the party, goes straight past the party and goes for the single figure of Castan who is looting this body and he storms over and he says immediately, what the hell was that Castan?

Podcast Introduction

00:00:44
Speaker
Hello and welcome to this week's episode of The Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are a live play 5e D&D podcast set in the magical home brood world of Aerith. My name is Mark and I am the Dungeon Master. And also with us for today's episode we have Will, who plays the human bard, Karstan. It's D&D time. There's no need to be afraid. Darren, who plays the human fighter, Rogue Robin. Holy jingle balls, Batman. We've got Casey, who plays the human champion, Hell in a Sleepguard.
00:01:12
Speaker
It's tea time! Oh, it's tea time! What's tea time, Casey? What's tea time? What sounds like a completely different time, Casey? It's tea time! Oh my! Go, Danny! Go, Danny! I don't think you can beat that opening. Speaking of which, we've got Danny who plays the human player, of course. Hi.
00:01:40
Speaker
We've got Callum who plays the Name Stores through a Folly Fizzlebang, the 9th. It's Dieter. And we've got Ian who plays the Dragonborn Barbarian Draggo. I cannot do anything here. KG wins this time. On last week's episode...
00:02:01

Recounting the Battle

00:02:37
Speaker
I think of them at the Knights Templar of D&D, but of a magic variety and their sole purpose in this scenario was to thwart the forces of our patrons, of our friends here in the party, namely looking for the heretic known as Claude, who follows one of the illegal religions and is known to be a follower of Akiva.
00:02:44
Speaker
Hasterly Retreat.
00:02:59
Speaker
The battle was long and hard and fought over literally minutes that she didn't feel, but it took us like four hours to get through the whole combat. It was intense and fought really, really well. Massive things took place. Helena got dominate person cast on her and she turned on the rest of the party, causing massive amounts of damage, critting also against Drago.

Robin's Tension with Castan

00:03:22
Speaker
Claude went down, Foley went down, Charlie disintegrated a dude,
00:03:28
Speaker
Kastan let two of them go, two of the others run away, one of which Robin managed to catch up even after Kastan had cast a spell to make Robin miss. He still chased after... No, not at all. Yeah, of course not. Or cutting words. He used cutting words to make Robin miss, Robin chased him down and killed him anyway. We find ourselves in the pit black, in the rain, on the road to Goldview.
00:03:55
Speaker
We're on a wide path, muddy path, rocks around, corpses around. We have Drago, Helena, Karsten, Folly and Claude all stood pretty much in the circle with Tarly and this small halfling off to the side. Robin, you're up to the north behind a tree, hidden behind a rock at the moment, pulling Ghostbane out of one of the last members of the chriscora that was alive.
00:04:18
Speaker
A quiet comes across the group as the patter of rain on leaves and the fizz of rain putting out those fires of this now huge but now totally unusable cart lays blocking the great road to Goldview.
00:04:35
Speaker
You hear a voice come from inside the cart and you see a silhouette of the ginger hair of Frenna, the owner of the bar approach, Folly, Karsten, Claude, Drago and Helena as Robin, you start to make your way back.

Farewell to Frenna

00:04:53
Speaker
She looks at you all, blood-stained, battle-weary, folly on your last legs, clawed, covered in blood, drago covered at everyone, just worn out, to the absolute tea. And she looks at you all. Well, it was nice having you on board while it lasted. Have you got a healing potion that my friend is on the floor? Someone, quick, quick! The world passes out.
00:05:22
Speaker
I'm afraid I don't. I can check if I have any whiskey. Maybe that might ease his pain. Drago's going to kneel down by Claude and perform a medicine check as he's the one who dealt the damage to knock him out. Okay. Yep. Roll the medicine check. Just a check.
00:05:43
Speaker
Claude, are you down, Dion? Are you making death saves? Just as the combat ended, Helena stabilized me, so I have all the saves by one's area points. I'm just going to read that as I have passed out. Cool. My base. So you don't need a medicine check. I didn't realize that you'd... I could do with some health. I have zero health, but... A medicine check doesn't do anything, does it? It's to stabilize... No, you can just give me... It's the highest medicine check I've ever done at 21. You can get something nice. Maybe they'll be scented like oils or something.
00:06:13
Speaker
Out of 21, I'll give you that you feel, Drago, you feel like I've sent in connection to Claude and something seems to draw you towards a certain small pouch you have in your satchel by your side. A small collection of dried herbs that you've had for a while, never really used. You thought you'd smoke them all at some point if you could find the right time, but they never really came. And you take these and you crush them up into your fingers slightly and you do, you kind of push them into the gums of Claude.
00:06:42
Speaker
And for some reason, his eyes seem to flicker slightly. And it's going to give you a single hit point, Claude. You have one hit point. And when you come to, you can see the party above you. You can feel the rain hitting your face. But also, very faintly, you can just hear the buzzing, that buzzing that you know so well. And that quickly subsides as you come to.
00:07:08
Speaker
She runs off back into the cart to see if she can find anything to help you with. Talia still stood there opposite you, looking at you, with the halfling stood just off her shoulder, both looking at you. What do we do now?
00:07:23
Speaker
So

Karstan's Discovery

00:07:24
Speaker
at this point, Karstan having obviously felt the person die because he was in his mind, sort of staggers away a little bit from the group when all this is happening, and then he's going to stagger to the middle of the road, and I'm just going to start searching the Abriska leader's body, just in case there's anything on him that might be useful. Okay, yep, you can search for him if you want an investigation check. Yep.
00:07:53
Speaker
That's a 31. You find 58 gold pieces, a regular Potion of Healing as well. So that's a one... No, we've got a 2d4 plus one. You also find a note in his pocket and obviously there's his staff as well. Apart from that, there is a small pack of provisions for food and a water skin on his pouch as well.
00:08:22
Speaker
probably grabbed the provisions of that lot. Does the staff feel magical? Yes, it does. But the orb that was glowing at the top of it has now gone out. And it's quite a long note. It's actually a poster for a Wanted, for basically some fugitives. And as you read it out, it says Wanted. I'll put it in the chat.
00:08:51
Speaker
It says, wanted, for questioning regarding the highly treasonous events in Evershire, including arson and theft of property for the war effort against illegal religions. Theob Kriskra, under the governing of Delmont Trace and support of his Highness King Leopold Sleeker II, wished the detainment of seven persons, including one dragonborn of dragon heritage, one gnome, one small human girl, and one heretic. This group have also captured a number of, sorry,
00:09:18
Speaker
This group have also captured an individual of note within Sleetguard. For information leading to their capture, the reward is 200 gold pieces. For the safe return of this individual of note, is a 990 gold piece reward. Any person known to be harbouring fugitives will be subject to the full force of the Abcriskra's capacity for law and order across the realm. All groups of seven will be questioned by employees of the Centre for Policing or the Abcriskra. Was that from
00:09:48
Speaker
The king. Yeah, but I'm not read out yet, but I'm sure we'll discuss it at some point. Oh, OK. Sorry. So we hope we don't. I'm in the middle of the road where you guys are off on the side under a tree. So.
00:10:02
Speaker
Yeah, pretty much. So we are in the middle. We are seconds from battle now. If you remember at the end of last week's episode, Tarly came around saying about the halfling, saying he knows another way. He knows another way. Well, what are we waiting for? And she said, repeats that again. What are we doing? We can't stay here. Surely we've got to leave.
00:10:23
Speaker
We have. We've got to leave. I say we're head to Goldview and carry on as we can. I'm really sorry about the mess here and your cart as Drago speaks up and looks towards the owner.
00:10:38
Speaker
Frena comes from around the corner with a small bottle of whiskey, looks at Claude now upright and kind of alive and relaxes a bit. It's fine, I'll make my way back to Highhaven. Start building a new one, I guess. I'd like to say this for the first time this has happened, but we draw a lot of attention to ourselves. Are you sure you don't want to travel with us to Goldview?
00:11:01
Speaker
If the Upkrishva is who you're dealing with, then no. I think I'll go in the opposite direction and I will wish you Godspeed. I'm really sorry. I did two things that were really bad. Oh. The first was I went on your lovely, beautiful horsey car thing and now it's destroyed.
00:11:30
Speaker
And I put your life in danger. And the other thing was, I threatened to kill you because I really couldn't read the situation. I thought everyone was coming at me. And I realized you've now lost your livelihood. I have a little bit of money. Would it help if I gave you it? No, honestly, I'm, it's fine. This was a, this was a, it's fine. And she kind of rightly asked herself and looks down at the ground. I, uh,

Halfling's Offer

00:11:58
Speaker
I'll search out for the horses, they'll be nearby, and I'll take one and ride it back to Highhaven. Or, or, or you could ever shy up, we've got a mate set, and they'd help you out, we'd put you up, or maybe help you build your wagon again. Oh yeah? Who do you know in Evershire? Wait, I think I'm in Blackmouth. I'm in Blackmouth! Okay, that's a bit far for me. Um, what was the name of the guy that ran the inn and his brother that we saved, and it was a massive... Have you?
00:12:28
Speaker
Have you got an address or a contact that should we in future wish to compensate and help you with your future endeavors? Yeah, I work at Highhaven.
00:12:44
Speaker
ask anyone. I'm not the most conspicuous of people. She flicks the hair out of her face. Just ask anyone for Frenner. Don't know where I am. Thank you, Frenner. We'll take some time to pull our resources together, but this won't be the last time you hear us and hopefully we can repay this debt. It's fine.
00:13:07
Speaker
I feel you're destined for more than just repayment, so whatever you're doing, make sure it's for a good reason. We will. She turns in the rain and starts to make her way out of sight in the darkness, away in search of the horses to the south, and she has left you. What do you want to do? Um, Robin, are you okay?
00:13:32
Speaker
Robin's on the edge of the battlefield, and as the blood starts to seep down in his body, what he presumes is rational thoughts start to return to him, and all of a sudden he can hear the voice of the Ob-Kriskerer.
00:13:49
Speaker
leader who was telling him visions of his sister's demise and he can hear the accent and the accent makes sense to him because that accent has followed him around recently and he hears a voice in his mind which says, let him go.
00:14:06
Speaker
And Robin's all of a sudden blood starts to raise again and gets angrier and angrier. And in the darkness, he pulls down his dark vision goggles and he glances back towards the party and sees them all gathered in a circle. But he sees one member of the party has broke off on himself and started to ransack the body of the leader. And Robin's blood boils. He thinks about the gallon in hollows. He thinks about wanting to leave. He thinks about Drago saying, we need to get out of here.
00:14:36
Speaker
and he thinks about which voice. It's the accent that he can't stop causing his blood to boil and he hears no, we have to go deeper. He thinks about someone who was tagged on to following a princess and somehow these assassins from the Sanguine land seem to be following us and Robin's blood boils. Robin storms back towards the party, goes straight past the party and goes for the
00:15:03
Speaker
single figure of Kastan who is looting this body and he storms over and he says immediately what the hell was that Kastan? What do you mean? Why did you want him to escape? And I'm not in the mood for your tales I suggest you answer now. Everyone else can hide this really tiny little thing. Why did you let him escape?
00:15:30
Speaker
Because he was beaten, he was trying to run away anyway. He come here to murder us! Yeah, well, and so we should do the same back. Two wrongs don't make a right. No, you're quite right, they don't. A-turns to the rest of the party and goes, Princess, how well do you know this man who started to follow you? Who? Castan.
00:15:59
Speaker
if indeed that is his name. Well, you know how long he's been with me and he has proved himself to be quite a dear friend.
00:16:14
Speaker
There seems to be quite a serious fight going on here. I saw everyone get involved, everyone apart from someone, until he appeared at the end and tried to help one of them escape. Doesn't look good, Karsten. I suggest you start giving us some answers. Listen, I think our attitudes are all in the wrong places at the moment, and I think we should just calm down. I understand where you're coming from, Robin, but we need to just
00:16:34
Speaker
calm down and we can speak about this more sensibly at a later date. We're all very tired, Claude has been through a great deal and so has Folly and I think we need to get ourselves to the next place of safety.

Robin's Warning to Castan

00:16:48
Speaker
Thank you, Princess. Fair enough. I appreciate that. Oh, there is one final thing, of course.
00:16:58
Speaker
You ever turn your magic on a member of this party again and I'll put an arrow in your throat. I did not use my magic against you, Robin. So drop the attitude. Oh, and there is one other thing. I'll take that note that you've just picked from that body. I will gladly share the note with anybody. No, I'll have it now. I'll share it with everybody, Robin. I will have the note now.
00:17:26
Speaker
Kastan will get up and he will then walk over to the party. I think the princess is right. We need to get somewhere that's not in the ruins of a cart. Robin sends out the invisible mage hand and it's going to go straight for the note wherever Kastan's put it and try and take it off him. Thank you Darren. So the main thing will be then whether or not Kastan chooses to relinquish the note or not really. So Kastan, I'm not letting go of the note. This arty arches.
00:17:55
Speaker
being pissy. I'm not going to release the note. Okay. So unfortunately, despite maybe even Carsten, you didn't even notice, but you've got such a grip. Your blood's kind of, your heart's kind of racing at this point because of the tension. Your hand is tight on the note. So Robin, you're probably the only one who notices that you send them invisible mage handout. It is invisible. You try to pull the note, but it doesn't seem to move. Carsten, you probably feel it like a strange flap of wind in the breeze as it tries to, something tugs on the note slightly. But I sense the magic of it.
00:18:25
Speaker
Give me an Arcana tech. All right. 19? Yep, you do. You feel magic. You're not necessarily sure where from, but you feel the magic, feel the Arcana strength that comes along with that wind. Ta. But no, the note doesn't unfortunately leave his grip, Robin. Carson, you approach the group. So Carson approaches the group. These people
00:18:54
Speaker
They've been following you since Evershire. They've got some kind of, they want you for arson and theft and something from Evershire. And then they say there's seven of us, so they've clearly been watching us since Her Majesty and myself have joined you. And they want someone back. I assume that's you, Your Majesty. You mean me?
00:19:21
Speaker
They talk about a person of note, which I can only assume is you. I thought we were talking about Claude in that instance. It says this group have captured an individual of note within sleep guard. That's got to refer to you. They think we've kidnapped you. This is absurd. If my father would have just got a word from him, I sent him a letter. I think this note, and he's going to hold it up and hand it to...
00:19:46
Speaker
to Helen and say, this bears the support of King Leopold of Sleetguard II. That is my father. But I, as I just said, I sent him a letter. He should have received word from me. I told him I was with the party. I haven't been kidnapped by you, as you well know, but he should know this. Will we have to go and see him?
00:20:12
Speaker
What else does it say, Castan, as Claude slummed on the floor trying to keep himself conscious? Can't read. It says, for questioning regarding the highly treasonous events in Evershire, including arson and theft of property for the war effed against the League of Religions, the Epchriska, under the governing of Delmon Trace and support of... What did we steal?
00:20:39
Speaker
I don't know, you tell me. We didn't know what happened in Evershire. That's all to you guys. But his high highness, King Leopold, Sleet Guy II, wished the detainment of seven persons, including one dragonborn of dragon heritage, one gnome, one small human girl, and one heretic. This group of... That could be any party you've said. Well, it does say that, Claude. It says that... What do you think it was? Anyone... How many of us are there?
00:21:08
Speaker
Seven. They say they're going to detain all groups of seven will be questioned by the Centre for Policing or the Acriscra. They've offered 200 gold for any information leading to their capture and nearly a thousand gold for the return of Helena. Sorry, can I just dip in? I just wanted to know what's going on around us? Is this quite a private spot to have this conversation?
00:21:36
Speaker
Absolutely not. No, you're basically on the high road. There is a massive burning cart behind you. There are eight or nine corpses slowly charring in the remains of fires and bleeding out. You can still hear the last one that died. This is very, very public and you're kind of in the middle of this, in the rain. Remember, this is a huge, huge pub on wheels that has been capsized and is on fire, blocking basically one of the main arteries out of Goldview.
00:22:06
Speaker
No, it's not private at all. How far away are we from Goldview? We haven't been travelling long. Was it like a day left to go, Mark? Sorry? I don't know. No, I'm asking Mark. I know, but is Mark going to answer? It depends, Castan. I can't remember how long Frenner had said it would take us to get there. I'm just trying to recall.
00:22:36
Speaker
No, I think she said a day. Oh, did she? Three days walking. So we've been traveling a few hours, so we're still a fair distance out. So Karsten, we should travel as a seven. Maybe, but we're going to have every day. I think everyone can agree that now is not the right time to have this conversation. And this conversation does need to be heard from all parties and all sides. But right now,
00:23:04
Speaker
and Drago points to the dead around him, the burning cart.

Planning the Next Move

00:23:08
Speaker
We're in a shining beacon of shit and we're at the epicentre of it. I also have to remind you it's my family we are talking about and I do not wish for that to make public.
00:23:20
Speaker
Let's travel on. I don't know these parts. I don't know the best way to go, but I do think we need to go. If we need supplies, I suggest we get them. I've managed to get some from the leader. He had some rations on him because I don't know what of our stuff has survived that crash or what we've still got us from the mountains because we exhausted a lot of our rations on
00:23:43
Speaker
We'll be in Goldview soon. I can take you around town. You don't need to worry about supplies. It's all covered. I just need to still be able to breathe by the time we get there. Claude, anything you were joining us? Well, I'll go, I'll wait, take you to the gate, and then I'll go in separately. Right. We should go further into the woods.
00:24:04
Speaker
Helena's going to press on. Right now I need to be able to get my breath back. So if we could just find somewhere safe so I can have five minutes, that'd be great. Helena, we should head further into the woods. There'll be more cover there.
00:24:18
Speaker
I think Castell makes a great shout. I agree. I think deeper into the forest, at least. Let's get some cover. Can I maybe even get some rest? Can I interject? And the halfling stood next to Tali, who's now leaning up against the burning wreckage of the cart, cleans off his rapier and puts it back into his side. This is the same halfling, Claude, that you had an argument with earlier on. He is bruised and battered on one side of his face, bleeding from his ear on one side, still wearing his rather posh clothing as well.
00:24:48
Speaker
I did volunteer to take you, you know, the lady, the girl here, and points to Tali, did say just now that I would take you and you bloody ignored her. It was a bloody good thing you'd ignored the lady. She's got some good points to make. I have, I know a place you could go. You'd bloody just find here, but you weren't bloody listening to me. You're busy having your conversation with this bloody armored bearded fucker man. You know, him. Yeah. Points to go.
00:25:18
Speaker
Are you hurt? Sorry? Are you hurt? I noticed that you were unconscious when everything blew up. Fuck you. Don't know what you're talking about. I've never been healthier. He turns around and points off to the back. And he definitely says he's got a big old cut on the back of his head. We need to go this way. Off to the west. You coming? Folly, what do you think as another small person?
00:25:45
Speaker
I believe getting off the road is a paramount of foxing.

Folly's Risky Retrieval

00:25:50
Speaker
It's a paramount important. Folly actually wants to quickly kind of run back into the like pub on wheels that are still on fire and it just gonna see if it can grab some whiskey or something out of there that might have survived the accident. Okay yeah give me a uh give me an acrobatics check please. I actually have a plus in that for some reason. Surely that's like siphoning petrol from a burning vehicle.
00:26:19
Speaker
17? 17, absolutely. So you managed to make your way into it. The fire is getting quite bad at this point, despite the rain that's pouring outside. You managed to make your way to the bar that is now on its side and you find in and amongst the smashed bottles of liqueurs, you managed to find a small vial of what you can assume is whiskey.
00:26:36
Speaker
You pick it up and start to make your way out. But as you start to do so, part of the wreckage starts to collapse in front of you. Burning embers start to come down in front of you. Could you give me a dexterity saving throw, please? Just follow yourself from PTSD because this is the second burning inn he's been in.
00:26:57
Speaker
You managed to almost notice, you hear the crack and almost get taken back to Evershine when this happened before. And you do a barrel roll forward, just missing it, allowing you to escape unharmed as you step outside of the pub. Yes, you now have a small bottle of whiskey. Excellent. Folly's just going to put that in the rucksack for now. Okay, now we can go. Okay, fair enough. Lead on.
00:27:22
Speaker
Okay, well it's just over here. I know these parts of the woods quite well. Shall I view first? Very nice, very nice, very nice, very good, very good. I have been here for quite some time now. Follow me, follow me, and he starts leading off.
00:27:36
Speaker
Okay, we can lead on quietly though, surely. Karsten's going to be falling behind sort of near Claude. Yeah, could someone help me walk? I'm going to help Claude walk. Drago was next to you anyway, so noticing because of some inferior link. Or the fact that I literally cut you in, Twain, will put his arm out.
00:28:04
Speaker
to hold you. The only thing I was going to ask is if Folly, while on the go and walking through the forest, because obviously he's got a little bit of familiarity, would he be able to on the move craft some kind of healing potion with his alchemic abilities?
00:28:23
Speaker
We've played it so far that you've needed to kind of have like a station and spend time in it. So unfortunately, you won't be able to do like an on the go job. Unfortunately. Okay. Sounds like the DM does not permit you. The video does not permit me. He does not. Um, Robin, where about to you in this, in this, um, this walking order? Robin, before everyone moves off, we'll just say, I can let this go until a more convenient time.
00:28:50
Speaker
but Karsten tried to help them escape. I know what I saw, and I want my answers to that. Yeah, fair enough, Robin. We hear you. But like you just said, now is not the right time.
00:29:04
Speaker
And as we're walking along, Carson does say quietly so that our new friend who's leading us into the woods, because that always ends well, can't hear. He's like, Robin did make a good point though. How do we know, with this rewards, anyone who tries to help us could just be manipulating things to capture us and turn us in for the reward? I'm just saying, following people into the woods is never normally a good sign in stories.
00:29:32
Speaker
He's one guy against all of us. I would bet on us. I don't know, Draggo, but we don't exactly look the best that we've ever looked. Karsten, right now we don't have any choice. As much as I do agree with your distrust, look at us. Have you got a better idea? No, but I mean, you look all right. You'll be fine. You're a big, strong Dragonborn. Just keep your wits about you. That's all you can do in this situation.
00:30:00
Speaker
And as you continue to make your way into the forest, the halfling at the front, whom you still haven't even asked for the name of, by the way, it carries on walking ahead of you and you get deeper and deeper into a thicket of trees. The trees are of a dark wood colour, still looking relatively alive, unlike the Shadowview Forest you remember to the north, which is more deadly and more
00:30:21
Speaker
affected by the blight. This seems still very much like an old part of the wood. The thicket's increasing. He pushes his way past it, sometimes catching brambles on your faces as the small halfling makes his way deeper and deeper into the woods. And he opens up into a slightly larger area and points off to about 500 metres away through some trees.
00:30:41
Speaker
This direction, just over there, it's a lovely little point. I used to play, me and my brothers used to bloody have a great time there before we left. Just there, promise you. Perfect for a little, like capital camp, if you know what I mean. Just bloody over here, okay? And you watch yourself, Claude. If that is indeed your name, you bit it, fucker. What's your name? Oh, sorry, I was using that as a passover for Claude, Claude, the other thing, Grom. Ology, sorry.
00:31:10
Speaker
Just as we're approaching and I know the driver is supporting me on one arm, I'm just going to whisper into his ear as we go. I don't think I have the energy, but there's something between Robin and Karsten. You're going to have to figure out. I think they have to figure it out. Don't forget the last time me and Robin spoke, you were in that room. Yeah. Things are a bit heated on all sides now,
00:31:39
Speaker
It will be okay, but sometimes you have to let the individuals talk it out themselves through no persuasive conversation through us. Okay, just don't let it come to blows. Claude, they're part of the same party. It'll be okay. I know, I know you're thinking about health here. Not everything shakes out like that. Anyway, me and you need to have a talk.
00:32:10
Speaker
there's some weird connection here let's rest yeah you continue to walk through the thicket of trees and true to his word as he turns a corner you see the halfling stood in what seems like a small protected
00:32:35
Speaker
almost a meadow-esque area which is probably about 60 feet in diameter protected on all sides by trees and letting in small shafts of moonlight in through the trees.

Forest Refuge

00:32:48
Speaker
The tree is also blocking out the majority of the rain which patters on the leaves and drips down off to the sides leaving this central area of dried leaves
00:32:56
Speaker
protected, warm, and seemingly safe from the intrusions of the road. You've probably travelled for about half an hour away from the road here, so you're half an hour off the track, so a good distance from the main road. And he kind of turns to you just as with his wide arms. Well, what do you think? I wasn't lying, was I? Bloody don't lie. Mark, sorry, as we're travelling, Carson will sort of look behind him. How obvious are the tracks we're leaving?
00:33:26
Speaker
For your eyes, quite obvious, but you try and think of what it'd be like for the layman's eyes. Challenging, but a well-trained tracker would be able to follow this. Okay. Thank you for bringing us here. He's going to turn to the group. At least we can rest here for a bit, but looking back, guys, we've left the trail that any tracker could follow.
00:33:55
Speaker
I trust your keepers safe car stamp. Yeah, I mean, I've not got much magic left, but sure. I'll use my sword if I have to. Yeah, I think we can all trust each other to keep each other safe and we need to get in the dry. Thank you very much for this.
00:34:16
Speaker
Yeah, you're welcome. Can I stay here a bit as well? A bit dark, you know? You look like a well-hardy bunch, and I don't know if you saw me out there, but I fucked a few of them up as well. Nah, fucking took it to them. Serves you, right? Yeah, Claude, saying I'm part of the chris-cra. Ooh, the chris-cra stabbing a chris-cra? I don't bloody think so. Ah, bloody stab the bloody shit out of that one. What do you know about the chris-cra? Well, not a fan of it, tell you that. Bloody telling people what to bloody do all the bloody time. Fuck off. Inside, inside, inside check.
00:34:46
Speaker
roll away i'll just use my passive that's it 28 my friend 28 um as you look at the small half length through your bleary and bloodied eyes you see the truth
00:35:02
Speaker
You see a man who, you know, is telling the truth and is very, very kind of venomously, emotionally strongly truthful about what he's saying. Despite the weird, annoying, repetitive expressions he has, he's honest in this expression. I'm going to communicate that just to Drago alone, and then I'm going to find a place to rest. Yeah, let's all get it. Are we stood outside?
00:35:31
Speaker
You're in kind of like an enclosed area in the forest that's surrounded by thick thickets of trees and large oak trees that gives the impression of kind of solitude. Above you, it's majoritivly covered by leaves of the overarching trees. There's a bit of moonlight coming through. It's almost a protected, it feels like a protected area of the forest, covered over with leaves at the top. Okay, as Karsten, nope, as Claude, the other party member with the sea,
00:36:01
Speaker
goes over to rest. Drago will walk over to Robin.

Robin and Drago's Pact

00:36:07
Speaker
Oh, I assume it's further back. Further back. Listen, I know your emotions are running high at the moment, but do you have a potion or some sort of healing thing for Claude just in case we are being tracked?
00:36:28
Speaker
I have nothing, I'm afraid. I'm out, I'm sorry. No, that's okay. Do you know anyone who would do anything? Did Karthdan mention that he picked up a potion? Because if the answer to that is no, then Robin wouldn't know. No, he didn't. Then Robin has no idea. All he's doing is carrying a staff. Fair enough. I think the only remedy we have for him is rest.
00:36:55
Speaker
I think that's a remedy for a lot of things, Robin. And maybe after arrest, you should air your thoughts, but arrest first. And Drago gives Robin just a look between friends. Robin looks at that and says, I know what I saw, Drago, and I know that if I tell you this with sincerity, you all know that I'm telling you the truth. He tried to enable one of them to escape. He tried to stop me from killing him.
00:37:30
Speaker
Yeah, I'd be pissed if it was me. You got to do what you got to do. And I'll say, Robin just kind of looks at him and he says, he's even naive or malicious. Both are dangerous. Drago shrugs as if defeated. You're right. You've got to question him about it. Do you trust him if I allow him to wait till morning?
00:37:58
Speaker
You know what he's like. You know what his skill set is. I trust him. I trust you more and your judgment. Don't forget, though, Claude can make it so he tells the truth as far as I am aware. I'm not going to let this go, Drago, until I have the truth.
00:38:25
Speaker
Didn't ask you to. Should anything happen to me, and I appear to let this go before time, I tell you this is my friend, because it will be, because Carstan has done something to me to make me let it go. If that happens, I'm entrusting you to pursue it for me. Um, if that happens, he'll, he'll meet my blade. Don't worry. It's so nice to see you two getting on, to pulling out on the car. I would just say to him, if he's willing,
00:38:55
Speaker
to allow Claude to put him in a situation where he can only reveal his true motives for letting them escape, then fair enough. Robin, I don't know if putting spells on each other is the best foot forward. I know that's what casting did to you. I would question him first. You've got a keen eye, keen judgments. Don't get lost. Keen judgment. I missed it with Bell Prax and I missed it with Elf here. I'm not sure what.
00:39:25
Speaker
my judgement is worth but...

Doubts about Castan

00:39:30
Speaker
It could be for many reasons why he let him escape and until we, until you talk to him without, and of all people I know the hypocrisy here, without the anger and the rage you might not need to resort to spells but as a fail safe don't forget that Claude does have that ability.
00:39:54
Speaker
and we stand behind you. They were dangerous, Drago. They're not going to give up. If any of them did manage to escape, it's bad for all of us. Yeah, I know. You're right. But we can't. We're stronger together than apart. Oh, I'm not going to
00:40:26
Speaker
That extends for me and you and our previous conversation. I ask you to bite back on rage and anger out of experience and shame before. They touched into something, Drago.
00:40:53
Speaker
these men, whatever they are, they touched into the same visions that that creature, that thing was able to touch into. If the Obkrispirasara is an extension of him, and they have martial control over the laws of this land, we're fighting a far bigger enemy than we could even begin to imagine.
00:41:19
Speaker
These are big thoughts to have before we rest. Just to have our backs. And Drago, as you mentioned that, and probably by the signs of things, Pat, Robin on the back. Actually, yeah, just before that conversation would just end if you, if you permit me, Drago would hold out just a hand for Robin to grasp.
00:41:49
Speaker
he chooses. Robin nods, grabs the hand quite firmly as a subtext of we've come a long way my friend and if you ask me to sit on this and approach it with a calmer head I will. And Robin then nods, takes out his pipe and then just finds whatever form of calming herb he can and just goes to Drago. I'll take the first watch.
00:42:15
Speaker
And one thing you will notice, Robin, that strikes you slightly odd, but maybe you don't notice it until later in your watch, is that when you grasped Drago's hand, there was a faint buzzing, almost like the connection zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
00:42:38
Speaker
something that emanated from Drago when you when you clasped hand so in for a second before letting go again something you seem to recognize but can't quite put your finger on and only maybe it dawns on you later in your watch as that scene kind of finishes the camera will pan over to now a collapsed clawed down against probably the back of a tree maybe looking into the small area what do you want to do? I'm just going to try and
00:43:08
Speaker
Uh, Beck and Robin over at any point and after seeing this conversation between Jago and Robin, not hearing any of it, just seeing that they talk privately. I'm just going to try and make sure I catch his eye or make every F2 catch his eye and then try and with what strength I've got left, I should him over.
00:43:27
Speaker
I'm not going to make you roll for it because that could end up in a whole fucking episode. No, it's fine. Yeah. Um, you managed to make the gesture relatively clear. You, you know, feeling bad, but you're not feeling like you can't communicate Robin. Uh, yeah, it's obvious to see. It's up to you whether or not you do anything about it. Robin takes a deep sigh, starts to feel a bit of doubt, a bit of remorse. Um,
00:43:52
Speaker
linking Carstan to the likes of Elphir and Belprachs on the rush of blood to his head starts to creep into Robin. The calmer head, the trusting head which has failed him so many times before still starts to return despite everything.
00:44:10
Speaker
and he walks over to Claude with his pipe lit and just sits down next to him and says, I'll take the first watch as Drago sees Robin shift his direction back to Claude and Robin Drago will just head out just to the edge of the trees and sit with just length against the tree with his sword down by his side. If Claude could do the equivalent of a D&D fist bump in the air to Drago, he'd be doing that right now.
00:44:40
Speaker
We'll probably need to come back to Carstan who will have been doing something during this. No worries, yeah. As will Folly. Yeah, right. Okay. Yeah, so Robin will just sit and focus probably further and take like a good three or four minutes of inhalation before I even speak. And I'll just say, I'm going to be out for the count this evening. If you could make sure that all of us are okay in the morning, we'll do that thing that you asked.
00:45:14
Speaker
will find your sister, together. Robin takes a deep inhale of breath and drops his head to the floor. And for a second, if you could see his face, you would probably realise that there's an overcoming of emotion. And he will just say as he stares to the floor as his voice starts to break. Thank you. And he'll get up and go outside.
00:45:44
Speaker
It's alright mate, I'm just going to give him a little salute and then I'm going to fall asleep.

Creating Safe Haven

00:45:50
Speaker
Lovely. Just passing over to Carstan? No, Folly, we've got Folly first. Oh wait, Carstan, is yours going to affect everyone else? Yes. Then we might as well go...
00:46:04
Speaker
to you first, my man. So Castor. While all that's been happening, Castor has probably gone into the middle and he's probably gone to Helena and said, Helena, I can create the magical hut to protect us all while we're in this glade. Maybe you should gather everybody while I prepare to cast it so that we're more protected. I think that's a grand idea. I shall do that.
00:46:38
Speaker
It's actually, Daddy, it's me rather using spell slots and casting it as a ritual, so it doesn't cost a spell slot. Good idea. It takes 10 minutes. I'm assuming then that you would have been doing that kind of starting that whilst we first got there before the conversation took place. Yeah. It would take in five, six minutes or so of this time. Yeah. That way it's not like everyone went around like, while the comments are going on, Carson's getting this ready.
00:46:51
Speaker
There you go. It'll take me 10 minutes to cast it, Mark. That's the important thing.
00:46:59
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. No, I was just twiddling the fingers or fingering the bums. Absolutely. So, Helena, you're sitting on that bit of information for you to tell as and when you want. Folly, what are you up to? Mine's going to kind of coincide with Karstan, seeing as he's put that up first. After he casts Tinyhut, I think what Folly would do is the area around the Tinyhut would basically cast Alarm, again, as a ritual spell, but he's going to make it so that basically
00:47:29
Speaker
Anybody aside from himself who crosses over this threshold. It's going to set off a mental alarm in his head Okay, okay So anyone apart from yourself? Any yeah, it's just me
00:47:43
Speaker
who can pass through it freely. Anybody in this party will set it off because it's based on anybody who is tiny, or no, above tiny, will set off the alarm. Lovely. Just going to be a mental alarm in my head. No problem, no problem. So, Helena, the cast has just lent over to you and told you he's going to make his party hut, that he's going to set up for everyone. What's Helena been up to?
00:48:08
Speaker
Um, Helen is going to be feeling quite overwhelmed with everything that's gone on. Um, obviously with the, you know, she was taken over by charm and, um, set to attack her fellow party member. Um, and she's feeling, she's feeling like, you know, she feels violated. Um, and she's quite angry that it's happened to her. Um, but she's not letting that affect her at the moment. So she's being quite defensive and, um,
00:48:39
Speaker
She's showing a lot of willpower and just to, to plow on through until they get to the next, the next place where they can sort out the next thing. And I don't know, you know, she doesn't know when she's going to face that with the rest of the group, but she's going to be quite melancholy within herself. And she's going to be keeping herself to herself for quite the first time within a long time.
00:49:02
Speaker
since being with the party. So yeah, she's going to seem a bit quiet. She will take Karstan's advice and get everybody else to attention so that they know that Karstan's going to build the hut so she'll get everybody together. Bloody magic card, sounds bloody exciting to me. And your little halfling hobbles along close nearby, starts looking around. Wow, never been in a magic ad before, bloody brilliant.
00:49:31
Speaker
Yes, it's quite good. Castell is quite good with his magic. You can go on in as soon as it's ready. Bloody brilliant, man. And it's safe. No one's going to, you know, come in and diddle with our willies while we're there, eh? It's all right. No one's going to come in and diddle with our willies. What's that supposed to mean? Play with our penises, you know. Flap our dicks, you know. Winkle with our penises. That's the thing that I knew about. And Helena's going to walk away from that conversation.
00:50:00
Speaker
What's wrong with her? It was just a bit of light banter, I thought. Oh, bloody hell. Some people can't handle it. If you handle a blade pretty bloody well, we almost took the dragon's almost bloody head off. Yeah, I almost happened. He's muttering to himself as this happens. Charlie leans over and goes, Valgorn, shut up.
00:50:23
Speaker
Being annoying. Ah, ah, bloody hell. It pulls a little book out and sits down. Oh, did

Reassurance and Progress

00:50:29
Speaker
you read my book then? It sits down. Tali is just going to quickly pop over to where Robin and Claude are at. Claude, now you're, I assume, zonked out. And Tali's going to pop down next to, sorry, Tali's going to pop down next to Robin and just take a second as he continues to puff on his pipe. I heard what you said about you being a bad judge of character.
00:50:54
Speaker
And I just want to say I think you're wrong. I think you're a good judge of character because, well, you say nice things about me and I did pretty well in that fight if I'm being honest. I'm getting further through my father's spell book.
00:51:17
Speaker
It's working, Robin. And that's because of your support. So don't be so hard on yourself. Hey, it's going to be all right. Once we get into a gold view, hey, things will be better. Kennard will help. And we can end this. We can end it. And we can do something here. We can be a force for good. We can help.
00:51:51
Speaker
I'm glad that you feel that you're improving, Charlie. You know how important I think that is to all of this. What did you do exactly?
00:52:12
Speaker
He fired an arrow at me and I managed to, I've been practicing the spell shield and I managed to just kind of, I didn't even think about it, I just kind of used it and it deflected the shield. Sorry, it deflected the arrow and I've never been able to do that before so I was quite happy with that. That's a step in the right direction, better than just firebolt.
00:52:39
Speaker
Robin looks at her for a second with an inquisitive look and then smiles and just says, it's good, Tali, you should be pleased with that. Thanks. I just, you look a bit forlorn and we need you, Robin. We need you being strong. Don't disappear into yourself again.
00:53:04
Speaker
Not yet. Don't tell Claude that either, and she gestures over to now the fully unconscious sleeping, resting Claude. No, I won't.
00:53:20
Speaker
Keep yourself strong. And she gives you a pat and then stands up to walk away to find a place in the hut to fall asleep. Probably just pointing to Val Gorn and telling him where to lay down whilst he reads over his book in the hut. Darren wanted to insight check the fuck out of that, but Robin just wouldn't do it. Am I right in thinking that Tarny just has a lackey?
00:53:44
Speaker
Did she just point at something for that small gnome to go somewhere? Yeah, you can sleep over there. That's amazing. I think she would, only because we've used this hut a couple of times and we are all creatures of habit. They would definitely have places in the hut they'd sleep. I think that's brilliant. I think that's awesome that in terms of hierarchy in the party, Carly's above someone. You sleep there because everyone else has a little place.
00:54:13
Speaker
She's a teenager, of course, she's going to be funny. I know, I just think we've never had an example in this whole thing where Tally's had the gusto just to kind of go and to make it so natural as well. I just love that. In terms of like character grade, I was all on board. Tally comes along and says, that's my spot. Yeah, literally. You don't go here. Guys, I would love you to come with me.

Gathering in the Tiny Hut

00:54:39
Speaker
Carson's building his famous hut.
00:54:42
Speaker
for us all to stay in tonight, should you wish for some comfort, some food, and some shelter, and protection, of course. You know where we are, and she'll guide anybody who wants to follow her either. Does anyone want to not go within the tiny hat? Probably a short. I assume I hear this from my watch, because I didn't move too far out. Yeah, no. Yeah, that makes sense. It's a good idea.
00:55:08
Speaker
Anyone? No, Tyler goes in, Valgorn goes in as well. Everyone, no matter who anything, everyone goes in. I'll just grasp on Robin's wrist. I won't do anything. I'll just hold tight onto his wrist as that announcement's made. I don't know what this means, Claude. Is this you want me to go in the hut? Is this you want me to stay here with you? Snoring. Guess I'm staying here then. And Robin will just keep a watchful eye over the...
00:55:37
Speaker
the recovering Claude as he smokes his pipe. Well, he's asleep. Oh yeah, okay. The cast and we'll look around. He'll look to the others. Are the other two not joining us? I'm not too sure. They obviously didn't follow me in. I don't know what we're going down to eat. So if anybody has any ideas. Hang on.
00:56:04
Speaker
Dragon walks outside to Robin and Claude. Robin, we should really get him in. Robin gestures to the wrist on his hand and goes, I don't speak Claude, Drago. I know that you do. What does this mean? This means I'm picking him up and Drago leans down and picks him up.
00:56:27
Speaker
Disney print style and uh and and walks walks him into the threshold check for that. Yes I will. FYI I weigh close to 350 pounds. Do you know what I was gonna say for 100 pounds?
00:56:48
Speaker
How's her 15? Just, yep. You managed to, it pulls a bit on your back and you can feel the exhaustion from battle, but you managed to pick him up just about. Seeing Drago's compassion, Robin will add like one eighth of the load and we'll just hopefully tip it over the edge. He won't be contributing much, his strength isn't his thing, but he will see Drago's compassion and he will add one eighth of the carrying weight just to hopefully help
00:57:19
Speaker
and it does, you manage to take the weight of one leg, or take the weight of the arm that's grasped on your wrist, allowing Drago to take the rest of the weight. You manage to kind of haul the now sleeping snoring claw into the tiny hut, and we are all safely under there. I'm assuming you might want to have a watch order for the night now that the hut has been formed. Is there anyone I take the first?
00:57:42
Speaker
Drago will take the first. I'll take it with Drago because Robin's not feeling nice. Robin didn't take much damage in that fight. And it's still just, do you know when you like, you know, you can't go to bed because your brain is still racing. Robin's just going to use the watch to switch his brain. You can have it on your hide on. We can make this conversation in game. You can do the watch by yourself if you want. No, I company would be good for me. Fair enough. OK, Drago and Robin on the first watch.
00:58:12
Speaker
I'd quite like to do one with Castan. So we might probably write the end, Claude, if that's OK. Yeah. Helena can go next, I suppose, after these guys. After Drago and Robin. Er, no problem. I thought you were like, no. Er, no. Never mind. How many do we need? Four. What are you following on, Charlie? He needs to take third.
00:58:40
Speaker
We need to cover eight hours. Yep, so two hours apart, four of you. Lovely. Okay, Tyler's going to join you, Helen, on the watch. She's going to lean over and go, oh, I'll give you a hand there, Helena. Oh, thank you, Tyler. I appreciate it. Clarly? I did say, Tyler. Oh, sorry, it must be my ears. Apologies, your hands. Are you sure you don't want to go to sleep?
00:59:08
Speaker
No, I mean, I will for an hour or two, but I'm fine. Sorry, I thought I misheard you. I'll turn in for the night. Good luck, everyone. I'll wake you. Thank you. And she's going to turn over to go to sleep along with the halfling, who's also going to take her sleep.
00:59:29
Speaker
Before Carsten turns in, he's probably going to pass Folly the staff and be like, Folly, the leader was carrying this. It feels magical. I don't know whether it'll be used to you or just in general.
00:59:43
Speaker
I can have a look at it. I'll have a look at it when I'm more in the right mind. I figured you might need some time to rest, but I figured you might find more use of it than anybody else. Appreciate it. I should certainly tell you its properties, yes. Carson will bed down waiting for to be woken with his clawed watch.
01:00:09
Speaker
Okay, Drago and Robin, first watch, you're up. The others are slowly going about their own business, sorting themselves out, slowly getting down either to bed or just resting or taking time to themselves, looking over, healing wounds, et cetera. And you do have the first watch as you step out of the hut, I assume, to watch over now the quiet glade in the dead of night. Is there anything you want to talk about or do you want to leave the watch? Quiet. Drago does not want to
01:00:39
Speaker
It's not a conversation. It will probably be companion silence. There's something about that. Yeah, but it's comfortable silence as well. So Drago's point of mind would obviously be on everything that's happened recently going over certain events and
01:01:06
Speaker
trying to dig deep into some of the things that's going, these buzzes and tingles and fairies. And yeah, but if Robin's also doing the same thing, then it will be, if Robin agrees, Darren agrees, it would be that kind of mutual silence between two old friends just watching over. Yeah, Robin's talked out, Robin's using this as a call down prior time. So yeah, there's nothing left for Robin to say this evening.
01:01:36
Speaker
And as the quiet two hours pass, nothing seems to happen on the watch. It's quiet. It's not even a wisp of wind deep, this deep in the forest. No rustle of leaves, no nothing, just quiet. You can hear movement, distance movement, just the natural movement of the world. Nothing to detract you from your watch.
01:01:59
Speaker
As your watch comes to an end, you wake up Helena and Helena, then you wake up Tali as you take the watch. Tali yawns. Sorry, Ian. Just as could Drago wake up Helena? Once Drago and Robin's watch ends, knowing that it's Helena and Tali, I think naturally Robin would go and wake Tali up anyway and Drago wouldn't attempt to do anything to dissuade that. Instead, Drago would go with Helena.
01:02:30
Speaker
Um, Helena? Yeah, yes. Sorry, it's your watch. Oh, that's fine. I thought there was something that needed to be awake. But for what? I thought there was an emergency. Sorry. No, no. The watch was fine. Me and Robin didn't notice anything. I just wanted to...
01:02:52
Speaker
We haven't spoken much, me and you, ever really. And Drago seems quite nervous in his demeanor. We haven't really touched base, me and you, during this
01:03:14
Speaker
Well, I don't know you, Adam. Listen, I know that Carstan calls me Princess, but you really, you know I'm Helena and I'm just Helena and you don't need to be nervous around royalty. I don't wish anything from any of you. I think you've all been very good to me so far and I really appreciate your friendship. Cool. I have never called you Princess.
01:03:44
Speaker
Don't plan on calling you princess.

Encouragement for Helena

01:03:47
Speaker
No, I know. I mean, I know the cast and calls me princess. I know that there is there is that that place where people put me that pedestal that they put me on. And I you know, I don't wish to be on there. So I appreciate you not thinking of me as royalty and thinking of me as plain Helena is which which I am.
01:04:10
Speaker
yes okay i just i just wanted to say like i i have seen my fair share of battles um both in this world and another
01:04:25
Speaker
And I've been brought up to respect those who command and wield strength in battle. Okay. And I really just like watched you in the battle just gone. And Drago is almost like kicking the floor as he's playing with this. Just...
01:04:53
Speaker
You did good. I respect your warrior talents. If you've got any pointers on being stronger, maybe we can catch up one time, but it's OK if you don't. Helena's going to put her hand on Drago's arm and apologize. I'm sorry for what happened.
01:05:20
Speaker
I'm sorry for turning on you. I have no memory of it, but I then do. I was looking at myself through someone else's eyes and I'm not sure whose eyes they were. I know it was... Jago kind of puts both his hands up and is like, but no, no, no, no, no, no, not, not, not. That's fine. I have been charmed like that before and, and, and bear you no ill.
01:05:47
Speaker
Yeah, so good job. And Drago kind of reaches slowly a hand out and just pats your shoulder. But Helena looks down at the hand to thank you. Good night. Sure. Good night. Yeah. Yeah.
01:06:10
Speaker
and then Drago just turns away from that awkward moment and just goes and lies down. Just look at the general chat channel if you want because that's what we all saw. That's what we all saw mate, we all saw you doing that.
01:06:32
Speaker
Dolly's already awake at this. She's listening to most of this conversation. Looking very incredulous over like I both feel like, what? And she's looking between you both. And Helen there, you probably make eyes over because you did see you'd wake her up. And already incredulous looking at you. Watch Drago walk away and mutter to himself and sit in a corner somewhere. What was that? Oh, Dolly, you're awake. Good. And Helen is just going to get straight up and put her boots on.
01:07:01
Speaker
and go get ready for outside. I'm entirely still looking incredulous at this point. I'm just going to wander outside and sit on a nearby rock, start thumbing through her father's spell book as you join her,

Watchful Discussions

01:07:14
Speaker
Helena. Is there anything you want to talk about while you're out there? Or are you happy just to let the watch pass? I might make a few comments about the book. And yeah, so I might say to her,
01:07:28
Speaker
any new spells that you, any new spells? And as you approach, you see how quickly, can you make a perception check, please? Fucking Jesus, that was an actual one.
01:07:41
Speaker
Oh. To be honest, you're busy looking at the grass nearby the sunlight. The moonlight is very low at this point. You can't even see anything. Do you not even pay attention, to be honest? You're still a bit confused as to what the conversation was that was happening with Drago, to be honest, or what he was trying to really say and why that strange buzzing in your ears hasn't quite gone yet. And as you sit down, you entirely quickly flicked away from the page she was currently on to a page further to the left of her book.
01:08:09
Speaker
earlier in the book if you will and then kind of looks over at you. So everything alright after you went mental? What do you mean? When you went mental you started... You mean the thing with Drago? You started moving really quicker then you started bashing on Drago like a big windmill.
01:08:31
Speaker
Yes, yes. I mean, I was trying to figure it out myself, but maybe it was just in the moment. I know I was charmed. I know somebody had control of my thoughts, my mind. It's not been the first time, I'll tell you. I could maybe help you teach a thing or two about how it works. Might protect you from it in the future. I don't know if it'll do you any good, but at least I can explain to you how it works, maybe. I'm listening.
01:09:01
Speaker
don't know a lot about it but hey over the next couple of nights if we're still alive and if we get a decent bed in Goldview I'm sure we will I know places oh I forget but yeah if we find somewhere decent to sleep um I can talk you through some stuff if you're like at least if you know how it works maybe you can you know fight it fight it in some way yes I think that'd be very helpful thank you Charlie no problem
01:09:29
Speaker
Anything you'd like to share with me now? How are you finding what's just happened? She pauses for a second. It just keeps following us, doesn't it? I don't know what it is, but this thing, it keeps following us.
01:09:52
Speaker
this constant danger. And I think the sooner we get to the blight, the sooner we figure out what we need to do with the onyx reaver, the sooner we get through this and find out where this rift is, the sooner that will pass and we can relax. It will end.
01:10:18
Speaker
Aye, it will. That's what I keep telling myself, and that's what Drago and Robin have been telling me. It will end. It will. You've been all on a journey, and I know that Castan and I have joined you a little bit later, and I can't say that we haven't had our fair share of battles already. But we all want the same thing. We all want the blight to end. We all want to see the light
01:10:49
Speaker
That's what we're all looking for, Tali. Let's hope we can find it. One way or another. I think together we will. And she's going to turn and just look out into the darkness, keeping watch. Is there anything else you want to say, Helen? No, I think I'll go quiet. Lovely, once the watch kind of ends, she'll... I'll get him up. Tali stands up and goes over to Folly. Folly gives him a kick in the backpack and gives him a little shake. Folly!
01:11:23
Speaker
She's going to pull the lip pipe that's still in your mouth out of your mouth. I've decided you smoke in your sleep. Pull that out of your mouth like a pacifier and Folly, wake up. Helena is going to slowly go back to her bed. And again, she's quite sad about things. She's not really smiled much in the whole day and she's just going to slowly take off her
01:11:49
Speaker
her weaponry and her boots get into bed. She's, again, very thoughtful, melancholy. Yeah, quite solemn. Yeah. She's going to be thinking about her father's note and her mother, the blight and the previous fight, just everything that seems to not be making sense to her and things that she needs to fix. Feelings that she's starting to feel that she doesn't quite understand about Drago.
01:12:18
Speaker
We've all been there. We've all been there. I mean, come on. Who doesn't love a scale? Exactly. Wow, now let's be careful here. This guy is my life. So as that thought ends and Tali goes over and gives Tali, sorry, Folly, a few kicks in the backpack to wake him up and Folly slowly comes to you. She goes, Folly, it's your watch. You're getting up.
01:12:48
Speaker
yes yes yes i'm getting up i'm getting up all right well i'm going back to sleep then so folly uh your watch is lonely unfortunately there's only you there um is there anything you want to do or say do you want to watch are you happy to let it pass um i did a couple of things he wants to do folly is quite happy to have like um a solemn watch um he's very happy to have this time to reflect um majority of what he kind of puts down his rucksack and he's kind of just sat on top of it
01:13:18
Speaker
He's actually going to use his Tinker proficiency, Tinker scores. He's going to construct a little clockwork device. That's basically going to be of Claude and his acts. And it's basically, as you wind this thing and it does his action, it's basically going to be like him beheading something. So it's going to be positioned like his executioners.
01:13:45
Speaker
kind of situation. Okay, that will probably take longer than the two hours, so I can say you make a good... I can say that with my tinker proficiency it takes one hour. Oh, I'm stand corrected then. I will ask you just to roll perception with disadvantage for your watch, just as it's an hour's worth of solid work on the little device. Keeping my alarm is set.
01:14:13
Speaker
Absolutely. Yep. The alarm is still there. Absolutely. It's not a problem. Okay. Well, I rolled a two. No problem. Thank you very much. Lovely. Ah, I rolled a natural one. So nothing happens. You're fine. The alarm isn't set off, but you're quite certain you can pay no attention to the outside world knowing that your alarm is fully intact around the camp as you walk away. Well, I'm sorry. I'm going to say just something for the second hour. Yeah.
01:14:39
Speaker
For the second hour, he is basically going to pull out the vial of whisky and he is going to be drinking that throughout the next hour. He's never... Folly is very, very used to just being powerful. He has never really had to struggle with anything in these...
01:14:57
Speaker
Kriska has just made a laughing mockery of his magical prowess and he is taking it quite hard at the moment but he feels a lot to Claude just for that fight because he

Appreciation for Claude

01:15:09
Speaker
generally does believe he would be dead without him right now. This is why he's crafted this little clockwork figure and I think at the end of his watch he would basically take the clockwork figure and just kind of
01:15:22
Speaker
try and sneak it into Claude's pack as almost like a little gift for him as a thank you. Amazing. And then before settling down on the top, he looks like after his watch. Okay, do you want to give me a slight of hand? Actually, no. I mean, Claude, you're so out of it, I bet. This is the, you know, and you're recovering from one hit point. I'm just going to consider you're out for the count. So easily managed to slip it into his pouch. No pun intended. And he now has a
01:15:49
Speaker
little mechanical beheading clawed akin with beard and belly and matching armour to boot as you detach the head of a arbitrarily criminal. And I imagine the head kind of comes away then comes back. Yeah, it's timed with the axe. The axe comes up, yeah, it's absolutely really nice. Out of kind of scrap metal bits and pieces like that. Yeah, I can really picture that. That's great. That's really awesome, Folly. Good stuff.
01:16:18
Speaker
Finally, follow your watch ends. You've got Claude and Karstan that said they are going to take the last watch. So you've probably placed this on Claude's person. And then would you wake him or would you wake Karstan? I would wake Claude first. Very, very gently. Just kind of starting at the face, just kind of a gentle few taps and almost with a kind of whisper to him. Claude. Claude, wake up. I feel amazing.
01:16:49
Speaker
That's the best night's sleep I've ever had. Are you okay, Folly? What can I do for you? What do you like a feast? I'll make you one. No, no, Claude, it's fine. It's just your watch. Tell you what, get yourself in there, have a good couple of hours, I'll get a calf's turn up, no worries. I shall leave you with you. By all means, do shout if you need me. Folly, I love you. Aww, that was lovely.
01:17:17
Speaker
Folly is going to pause for a moment at that and just kind of slightly look to one side and just go, I love you too, Claude. And the sides of Folly he would actually go and just embrace Claude's leg. And outside. A manly hook. Yeah, reciprocate. And then, yeah, I will help Folly get back to his place of rest and I will move towards cast down to make a B-line instead for Drago.
01:17:46
Speaker
Okay. Not straight away. And I'm just going to kneel beside Drago very quietly, because I won't be wearing my helmet. And I'm going to cast Bless on Drago. And then I'm going to use Ascending Spell on Drago to just say, and the voice is going to be a keeper, it's not mine. What happens next? Claude is with you.
01:18:18
Speaker
And then you will receive the benefits of bliss. And I will go over and wait the cast down and head outside the hut. What the fuck?
01:18:28
Speaker
As you go outside the hut, Karstang, you're awoken. I get the benefit of the long rest at this point. Yeah, I'm considering you've got your long rests by now. I'm trying to check. Okay, Karsten will sort of shuffle himself awake and follow Claude out.
01:18:51
Speaker
And as you both do that, you both cast on you more so than Claude. Notice again this buzzing sound as you step outside of the hut that emanates, that you seem to remember always seems to happen when it seems bad things are near. You feel this tingling on the back of your neck. What would you like to do? Claude, is everything safe out here? I believe so.
01:19:22
Speaker
I don't know, I just... I've got a very strange feeling. Just accept it. I have a serious thing to say. OK. I believe... I believe tomorrow people are going to ask you a lot of questions, Castan. Yeah. And I think they're going to look to me to try and make sure you answer them carefully.
01:19:52
Speaker
Right. How are you going to do that? Well, I have the ability to make sure people tell the truth, but I know what you did. I know what you did and it's what I do. Rule number one is preservation of life. It's a big word. I hope you know it. Preservation. Rule number one,
01:20:22
Speaker
preservation of life and i think that's what you did and i'm in your corner man i did it because i had to claud i couldn't i know i know you saw some people that are like your people and if i was if we were fighting you know members of the hailstorm search i'd be like guys what the fuck i'm just healing everybody you know that that would be me so i'm saying is i understand thank you and in the morning
01:20:50
Speaker
If said Inquisition is asked for, I'm only gonna cast a little daylight spell on you, not a spell that Robin and Drago have been speaking about, but if you could just, like, go with it, so that they don't, you know, look at me like, what's Clem doing? He's not doing the right spell! I appreciate that, Claude, I... Yeah, if Robin does want that cast, then...
01:21:20
Speaker
How very hypocritical of him. I care about you, mate. And you saved the princess and that means a lot. I only did what I had to do and... I saw it. rather than be angry all he wants. No. He's... He's in a... He's in a really hard place. You've got to understand, he's been pulled out of his world and thrown in this one. Like, it's really tricky. And you and me get it.
01:21:50
Speaker
Folly and I have spoken about this as well. Yeah, so I had a favour, otherwise I will cast the spell Robin wants me to cast. Okay. If you'll accept it. Yeah, yeah. I don't think that we should enter as a seven tomorrow when we get into Goldview. I think it's too dangerous
01:22:18
Speaker
We can, I can hide you. No, no, no.

Seeking Phil Strop

01:22:21
Speaker
I think that you should take the princess, right, and go find my mate, Phil Strop. You might have met him. The princess says you met him.
01:22:33
Speaker
Yeah, I did. He was a good guy. Yeah, he might be stationed there, if not, whatever, but he used to give me a couple of orders every now and again, and the king really trusts him, and another princess really likes him. So maybe you could find him, and they'll get you in the city, no worries. But also, if she just turned up at the gate, they'll let her in. Yeah, they will then.

Rendezvous Plan

01:22:56
Speaker
I mean, could you come and find me?
01:22:59
Speaker
Once she's in the city, we know she's safe, and I'd really like to show you around, because you haven't seen Goldview the way that I've seen Goldview. I'd like to show you, I'd like to see Goldview in a real way. No, no, if the princess is a king and shit like that. I'll do, I don't mind doing that, Claude. Okay, well, I tell you what, if we do go this way, and this is what we agree, could you meet me at the double walk pub?
01:23:29
Speaker
It's hard to miss. No, it's not hard to miss because... He's one with a two-headed orc. He's a two-headed orc, and he's the only fucking two-headed orc in Goldview. I've never heard of the two-headed orc. It sounds like something I would have heard about. Honestly, mate, it's a spectacle. Is there a certain, like, how long do you want me to wait before we come and meet you?

Karst Dan's Honor

01:23:50
Speaker
I'm hoping that if I travel with everyone else, we'll go straight there. So you just take it to someone who should be recognised and help her.
01:23:59
Speaker
And if anything happens, find Felstrop or her family. Okay, depending on what time we get there, we'll... I'll make sure we get to you before dark or whatever. I mean, I can find you if I have to, but... That's a bit scary, but thank you. When all of a sudden done, Karst, Dan, you have protected Helena's lead guard more than most knights of this realm.
01:24:30
Speaker
If it doesn't work for you in Sanguine lands, I'd be happy to use whatever influence I've got left to make you a Knight of Sleek-Up. Wow, that... I feel for thought, but you protected us this far, and I think your intentions are good, mate, so think about it. Thank you, Claude, that means a lot.
01:24:59
Speaker
Cast down the night, cast down, fin, bin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin, fin,
01:25:30
Speaker
And as Carstan and Claude's conversation comes to an end, sorry, there's a couple of pangs in there, Danny. As Carstan and Claude's conversation comes to an end, Carstan, you really do notice this buzzing start to pick up.

Drago's Mysterious Disappearance

01:25:47
Speaker
more so, and more so, and more intense. And Danny, sorry, Claude, you start to notice this buzzing more and more. You are very aware of what this buzzing means, and you are very aware of what this, what is exactly about to happen, okay? The buzzing becomes really intense, so much so, but near the end of our watches now, it almost wakes everyone up. And as you look over, you see Drago. Drago sat upright,
01:26:09
Speaker
and you can see him looking down at his claws as he sits upright looking at his hands and his hands are turning to this black smoke as you hear this voice that kind of seems to come from within Drago somewhere but emanates out towards you all. Your time begins now, Drago.
01:26:32
Speaker
You must come with me. Your trials await you. And in an instant, he just disappears into some smoke which kind of settles onto the ground and the buzzing is instantly stopped. And as you stand around, looking, no sword, no satchel, no drago, Tally stands up. What the fuck?
01:26:59
Speaker
That's what we're going to end this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop. What the fuck? Oh, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
01:27:26
Speaker
bits and pieces if I mentioned it before you've been aware of it yes but it's it's uh right at that end moment you've all kind of woken up you were hearing it like it kind of woke you up or kind of got you up or took your notice uh and then drago has now just disappeared um because Claude and I are outside we wouldn't see that would we I assume you would have gone back in because the buzzing would have come from inside I gave you some dramatic license to know
01:27:53
Speaker
known as well yeah i didn't know whether it was just all around us so i just want to clarify that point before we start the next episode and i asked that's a very good point we don't know what's all around us and if you wanted to know what's all around us we update sometimes on twitter so you can find out at
