Speaker
Right as I'm bored. What plaything can you offer me today?
00:00:38
Speaker
got more rocket Ajax to bring back his body. Terminator X. Go. Go.
00:00:53
Speaker
Hello, everybody, and welcome to War Rocket Ajax. This is the Internet's Most Explosive Comic Book and Pop Culture Podcast, and we are your hosts. My name's Chris Sims. With me, as always, is Matt Wilson. Now, Matt, you are familiar with the concept of having NWA Sona.
00:01:10
Speaker
Remind me. It's like having a, like, a fursona. Right, yeah. But if you were a wrestler in the National Wrestling Alliance in the mid-80s,
00:01:23
Speaker
Yeah, okay, that's what I thought that was. i For a second I was like, like Ice Cube and Eazy-E? No, different NWA.

Fictional Wrestling Personas

00:01:30
Speaker
Different NWA. This is this is okay. this is I think we may have discussed this before, um but yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:01:38
Speaker
I'm familiar. i don't Have we discussed this before? we have Have we discussed it in the question segment of the show? Which we do because I don't like to ask people how they're doing anymore because we all know how we're doing.
00:01:50
Speaker
That's right. That may change, but it it hasn't changed yet. Hasn't changed yet. yeah Matt, my NWA sona would, of course, be Dirty Dog. ah spell D-A-W-G.
00:02:03
Speaker
who is He's he's he's a a good guy. He's a babyface, but he is a little bit of a rascal.
00:02:13
Speaker
And I have said previously that there would be a time when he would turn heel by winning the lottery and then he would be putting on airs. A lot like Diamond Dallas Page in the early 90s.
00:02:25
Speaker
Right, yeah. Prior to People's Champ era, Diamond Dallas Page. So Matt, my question for you, and and I will say, AC also has an NWA Sona, which is Sven the Shooter Shooterson.
00:02:39
Speaker
Uh-huh, I like it. Who is a shooter. Right, from Minnesota, clearly. Yes, from Minnesota. but With with that of Nordic heritage.
00:02:51
Speaker
A real Ole Anderson situation. Correct. For my wife. So Matt, I ask you, what is your NWA Sona? My NWA Sona is CC Swimming Pool.
00:03:05
Speaker
That's good. thats I love that. And the CC is for Country Club. Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh. So it's Country Club swimming pool. I have a big house right next to the swimming pool at the Country Club.
00:03:20
Speaker
And you could only hope to even get in the gate of the Country Club where I live, buddy. So you live at the Country Club?
00:03:31
Speaker
but In a house by the swimming pool. You But it's not my swimming pool. It's the Country Club. not your swimming pool!
00:03:41
Speaker
this There's layers to this, Matt. I like this because when ah when Dirty Dog turns heel, CC Swimming Pool could turn face.
00:03:53
Speaker
and We could have a real rehearsal of fortunes. yeah Yeah, it could be a double-turn match yeah at Starrcade, where CC Swimmingpool reconnects with his roots. You'll learn that CC Swimmingpool actually pulled himself up by his bootstraps and grew up poor.
00:04:11
Speaker
um but But he was flaunting his nouveau riche lifestyle ah up until now. ah Matt, it's nice that you think this would happen on a Starrcade. This would happen on a Great American Bash.
00:04:27
Speaker
it Yes, ah yes. We ain't finishing the story at Starrcade. If not an episode of Pro. Although I guess that's WCW. That's wc w this not NWA. Yeah, this might happen on Championship Wrestling from Georgia.
00:04:42
Speaker
Yeah, that's what it would be.

Patreon and Sub-Podcasts

00:04:45
Speaker
A.K.A. World Championship Wrestling, yeah. We got a great show for everybody, Matt. We do. We're going to rate some swords. Dirty Dogs and CC Swim and Pool are here with another great podcast.
00:04:56
Speaker
That's right. We're going to be rating some swords on the show this week. We're going to do one to ten of swords. Before we rate some swords here on the show, Chris, we do have some new patrons to thank.
00:05:11
Speaker
Over on Patreon. That's right, Matt. Now, these are the people who want to help support the show. They want to help us do what we do here on the show, whether it's talking about swords, talking about fictional 1980s wrestlers in Charlotte, North Carolina.
00:05:30
Speaker
<unk> ah whether it's discussing ah the comics of the day with the people who make them, our friends that we have on for interviews. They want to help us keep on doing that.
00:05:42
Speaker
And what do they need to do to do that? Well, Matt, I'll tell you what. All they got to do is go to patreon.com slash war rocket Ajax, where they can kick in as little as a dollar a month to help support the show, help you and me pay those gimmicks. They keep sending them mail call bills and maybe even take a trip.
00:05:59
Speaker
down to 748 Gimmick Street. That's right, Chris. Here are our newest Patreon supporters. Anthony Capraro. Thank you, Anthony. And Kevin Palma.
00:06:11
Speaker
Thank you, Kevin. If you would like to be like Anthony and Kevin, you can head over to patreon.com slash warrocketajax. And as Chris said, kick in as little as $1 per month to make sure that we do this show every week.
00:06:27
Speaker
And we keep doing all of our other sub podcasts. We just did comics catch up about Dawn. That's an over 90 minute comics catch up.
00:06:38
Speaker
we We go in pretty deep on those six issues of Dawn. We sure do. ah It is it is a a full examination of The six issues of Dawn 1995. It should be a fun listen, I feel like. ah But we there's Comics Catch-Up. There's Every Story Ever Special monthly.
00:07:01
Speaker
Ostensibly still Movie Fighters is the next situation. We'll figure that out soon. um I think that whole thing is on hiatus until 2026, probably. Movie Fighters?
00:07:12
Speaker
Yeah. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. but But those might come back. But you support all of those by helping us out on Patreon. And you get all of those completely ad-free if you're a paid Patreon member.

Gimmick Street Segment

00:07:25
Speaker
in your own special Patreon feed. At the $5 level, you get bonus content. That is stuff that I cut out of the show and put up just for Patreon. um Sometimes that is stuff we record, especially for Patreon sometimes. And that's writing that Chris and I have done specifically for Patreon. All of that stuff is exclusive there. And if you join at the $5 level, you get all that stuff immediately. At the $10 level, you get line-stepping privileges for our segments, which currently include...
00:07:54
Speaker
One to Ten of Swords, which is on this episode, and Every Story Ever. At the $15 level, you can join the Gimmick Street Preservation Society and name a location on Gimmick Street. The Gimmick Street Preservation Society member on this episode is Jason Nassi.
00:08:11
Speaker
All right. what's ah What's Jason got for us down at 748 Gimmick Street? At 748 Gimmick Street. Now, Jason said maybe... saving this for $7.50, but we are taking these as they come.
00:08:23
Speaker
So this is at $7.48. It is the Gimmick Street Preservation Society headquarters. Alright, interesting. That's recursive.
00:08:33
Speaker
Yes, it's it is the the building... I don't know if Gimmick Street Preservation Society is a private organization or a government organization. Maybe it's a public-private partnership. ah But nonetheless, this is the building where the society ah gathers, meets, and makes policy.
00:08:55
Speaker
There's certainly an endowment from it's weird because Gimmick Street has a mayor. Which you don't usually get from... Well, I think it's one of those honorary positions, like the honorary mayor of Hollywood.
00:09:11
Speaker
Maybe, but like it does it does have a certain amount of political power. sure Because there is an endowment. but So we do want to thank Stone Cold Steve Austin, the mayor of Gimmick Street, for ah his contributions to the Gimmick Street Preservation Society.
00:09:28
Speaker
That's what's 748 Gimmick Street, the Gimmick Street Preservation Society headquarters. um I guess that's where his office is, the mayor of Gimmick Street. um Nonetheless Well, I think he just works out of his home at 316 Gimmick Street.
00:09:42
Speaker
Oh, that makes he has a home office there, yeah. Well, he also has remember, we need to remember for four years from now that he has one at, uh, at what is it? It's nine 48 giving street. He has three houses.
00:10:03
Speaker
Anyway, uh, If you're at the $15 level, you could join the Gimmick Street Preservation Society and name an address on Gimmick Street. Put something at an address on Gimmick Street.

Gaming Comforts and Joys

00:10:14
Speaker
At the $20 level, you also join the Gimmick Street Preservation Society. They can do that. But you also get an annual t-shirt. um We have sent out all of the 2025 t-shirts. It's a great one this year.
00:10:27
Speaker
Yeah. It's always a great one. This is a great one. ah If you, for some reason, haven't gotten your 2025 t-shirt, um I still have some that I could send. So let me know if you want one. but And you've got to be at the $20 level. But let me know if you haven't got one and you're there. that's All of that stuff I just mentioned, plus the t-shirt, is at the $20 level.
00:10:50
Speaker
If you're unable to help us monetarily, we do understand that there are reasons why that may be the case. You can help us out in other ways. You can leave us a five-star review. on the podcasting app that you use, whatever that may be.
00:11:01
Speaker
You can also ah just spread the word about the show. Tell your friends and family, tell folks that you know about this podcast that you enjoy and the saga of our NWA Sonas and and how they they may have a double turn.
00:11:20
Speaker
Also, they could give us money. If you tell tell your friends and family, like maybe they could but yeah contribute to the Patreon. so It's very unlikely that you will tell your friends and family and they will care about Dirty Dog and Cece's Woman Pool at first.
00:11:36
Speaker
But they will get there. They will get there over time. yeah All right, Chris, with that, now that we've thanked our Patreon supporters, it's time for Comforts and Joys.
00:11:47
Speaker
Oh, let's do it.
00:11:53
Speaker
Chris, what's comforting you and these in these times? Matt, I am continuing to play my my second full playthrough of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
00:12:08
Speaker
And look, I talked about this game a lot when it came out, so I'm not going to go through everything again. But boy, those really are the best games ever. Breath of the Wild and Tears the Kingdom, they're as good as they get.
00:12:21
Speaker
Have you discovered anything new in this new playthrough? I don't think so, because rode this thing pretty hard the first yeah time.
00:12:32
Speaker
I feel like I did, if not everything there was to do, pretty damn close. The the the only thing i did't I know that I did not do was get all the Koroks, because there are 1,000 of them, and that's annoying.
00:12:51
Speaker
But I'm thinking about doing that this time. But I am approaching the game slightly differently. ah Because i initially had a very fun experience of getting to kind of the point where they're like, alright, here's act two of the game.
00:13:07
Speaker
where we really focus on getting Princess Zelda back. You need to go to this location and get this thing, and then we've got to figure out where the Master Sword is. And then there's, if you're me, a moment where Pura pauses, and Link shrugs, because, you know, he doesn't talk a lot.
00:13:25
Speaker
And Pura goes, oh, you've already been there, and you already have the Master Sword, because you've just been wandering around this game for 100 hours? Okay, cool. So I'm doing things just in a little bit of a different order. i did...
00:13:38
Speaker
go get the the the Master Sword ah pretty much as soon as I could. i you know like Matt, you know that I sometimes get heavily into the role-playing aspect of non- or or maybe semi-role-playing games.
00:13:54
Speaker
like I would limit the amount of things I would carry around with me in Fallout, for instance. right And right I feel like if I'm Link, the hero of Hyrule,
00:14:08
Speaker
the the The Hero of the Wild, in particular. Then... Not having my right arm and not having the Master Sword is like not having my right arm twice.
00:14:23
Speaker
True enough. So you're going to go to the Master Sword as quickly as possible. Yes. I did forget that in this one it's based on stamina, because in Breath of the Wild it's based on hearts.
00:14:35
Speaker
But you know what? It all worked out just fine. So yeah, I am replaying this game. I'm playing the Switch 2 version ah because ah it is a it's ah a free upgrade if you're a Switch... Whatever Nintendo's thing is.
00:14:52
Speaker
Whatever the thing is that's not PlayStation Plus, but it's Nintendo. Switch Online, whatever it is. I don't know. Whatever puts N64 and Game Boy Advance games on here. Mm-hmm.
00:15:06
Speaker
You can get the... It's Switch Online, I think. Yeah. You can get the Switch 2 upgrade ah if you already have Breath of the Wild or Tears the Kingdom. And since I have the cartridge, I just pop that bad boy right in there and I'm off to the races.
00:15:22
Speaker
ah So I'm definitely noticing like a decrease in load times, which is nice. ah Which, honestly, I didn't notice... being bad in Tears the Kingdom on the Switch in the way that they were bad in other Switch games.
00:15:40
Speaker
Basically, it actually kind of breaks the immersion a little bit because the depths load a lot faster, so you're not falling as far through the weird little Willy Wonka tunnels.
00:15:52
Speaker
Right, yeah. Yeah. Because that's how they hide that's how they hide the loading. That's how they hide the loading, yeah. Now Matt, you... notably famously, do not like the depths.
00:16:04
Speaker
i it's not I mean, they're they're not the most fun for me. They're not as fun to explore for me as the above-ground parts of the game. I will say, exploring the above-ground parts of the game in Tears of the Kingdom is not as fun as it is in Breath of the Wild.
00:16:20
Speaker
Because I feel like there's you know everything happens on the surface in Breath of the Wild, and so there's so much more to go through and so much more of that feeling of discovery. Yeah. oh But, fucking love the depths, dude.
00:16:33
Speaker
They're creepy and weird and dark. I think what I dislike about the depths is that there are so many invisible walls. And you don't know if they're there or not.
00:16:48
Speaker
So I did a lot of like, because I just wanted to like, you know, go wherever down there. And you're not really allowed to do that. Because... Like, all of a sudden there'll be a wall, and it'll be a dead end, and you'll have to turn around. Like, that kind of frustrated me in my first playthrough. Well, you say invisible walls, but... they're written i mean, they're visible walls. They're just visible walls. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And... They're just... You don't know, like because there's some places where it seems like there's a wall, but you can climb to the top of it, and it's really just, like, a plateau.
00:17:26
Speaker
Right? Mm-hmm. But... you You don't know when you're going to get that and when you're not. um And to me, that's kind of frustrating. I can see that. I can see that being the case. ah But one of the things that I did, I think, in this playthrough and in my previous one was I did all of the like towers, all the little Assassin's Creed towers first. Yeah.
00:17:50
Speaker
Because mostly the walls and the depths map to where water is on the surface. So it's a little easier to get your head around if you can yeah cross-reference it. Yeah, that makes sense.
00:18:03
Speaker
yeah and if i And knowing that in a second playthrough may would maybe make it easier. yeah but What I'm getting at here is, fucking love this game.
00:18:13
Speaker
It has made me love Zelda as a series in a way that I never loved... any of the other Zelda games. And I am someone who famously did not like Ocarina of Time and never played Majora's Mask because I didn't like Ocarina of Time.
00:18:33
Speaker
And you know i I would say like the best Zelda games are Link to the Past and Link Between Worlds. a Breath of the Wild and Tears the Kingdom being such a different experience has made me really love the the series as a whole and kind of the, you know, the meta narrative and all that fun stuff. but But you have to admit that there was, there's absolutely no way Breath of the Wild exists without Ocarina of Time.
00:18:59
Speaker
Zero chance. I mean, yeah, I just don't think Ocarina of Time is good. Yeah. You know, I mean, Matt, there's there's no way that Batman Year One exists without the case of the Chemical Syndicate either. But sure one of those is good.
00:19:13
Speaker
i do think you had to play Ocarina of Time in 1998. ninety ninety eight I did, bud. i Didn't like it. I think the the transition to 3D struggled.
00:19:28
Speaker
ah my Zelda games were always the ah the handheld ones, like Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, actually made by Capcom and not ah Nintendo R&D One. But, you know, it's making me like it.
00:19:43
Speaker
So ah that is what is bringing me a lot of comfort as I ah traverse the wilds of Hyrule once again. Because that dang old Prince Zelda, she sure can't stay out of trouble.
00:19:55
Speaker
Matt? What is bringing you comfort in these times? Well, very similar to you, Chris, I'm just going to talk about a game that I was playing last week as well and that I've continued to play and that is continuing to bring me comfort. I'm not quite ready to recommend it as a joy just yet, but I'm considerably further into it, um and that is Metaphor Re Fantasio, which ah i last time I talked about it on last week's show, I was like, I'm not quite sure if I like it,
00:20:26
Speaker
I'm definitely to the point where I'm like, I do like it. I'm still like a little overwhelmed by the archetype system, the class system of the game, only because i know I want to do it all.
00:20:42
Speaker
And you really got to work through like leveling up all of those classes, So I'm trying to be very intentional about who I assign which classes to.
00:20:56
Speaker
i worry that I'm assigning a class to the wrong person or an archetype to the wrong person. Then I'm going to put it on somebody else. But, you know, that's how that goes. um But I've played considerably more of the game, and I've gotten to the part where you finally have enough allies that you can switch your party in and out.
00:21:18
Speaker
um Because, you know, you have four, like, main party members at any given moment. And so once you get to five, somebody's got to be benched. and And I got to that point. And the story development that leads to that involving, like, the singer. Mm-hmm.
00:21:37
Speaker
Is really good. i yeah like that I think that was the moment where i was like, okay, I'm in. ah she's She's great. Yeah, she's a great character. And um the whole like kind of sequence leading up to that is is really good. um i really I really had to get used to the way that that game, and I assume the Persona games, deal with time passage?
00:22:04
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Because it is so different from other RPGs. Because in other RPGs, you can just fuck around forever. Yes. Right? Like, you can fuck around as long as you want before you go do the next thing.
00:22:19
Speaker
In Metaphor of Fantasio, and again, I assume Persona, you get a limited amount of days to do the stuff you have to do before the next big thing happens. Right?
00:22:32
Speaker
And usually it's enough time to do most of the main stuff, like most of the main side quests. But it is really interesting to me that it like sets a time limit on that stuff.
00:22:45
Speaker
Yeah. the The Persona games very much do that. ah they are They're ah built around the school calendar. ah So in Persona, you have day and evening.
00:22:59
Speaker
Basically, you have day and afternoon. And day is usually you go to school. Yeah, in in this game, it's it's afternoon and night. And it's like morning doesn't happen. You gotta sleep in, man.
00:23:14
Speaker
Yeah. um but Hulkenberg wants to sleep in. the The whole thing, the the timing of this game involves this...
00:23:26
Speaker
like campaign to be the new king. Because the game starts with the king being killed. And the bad guy of the game just wants to take over as king, but forces, cosmic forces, create a situation where like the king is going to be decided by like the consent of the people. I thought this was wild, because i mean i think I've talked about it before. i In my D&D games, I will have NPCs have conversations like, wow, it sure is great that we live in a world where the Divine Rite of Kings is real.
00:24:06
Speaker
ah Because otherwise this would be really fucked up. ah But I don't even know why I'm saying that, because of course the Divine Rite of Kings is real. This game... This game is operating on the premise that the divine right of kings is real, but also so is democracy.
00:24:22
Speaker
Yes. well the The king in this specific case is being chosen via... um Not voting, but like some cosmic will that knows who the most popular candidate is. yeah it's and People are not allowed to vote against their ah conscience in this in the game. yeah It's just known.
00:24:46
Speaker
I'm ready to embrace that system. and And also, like so you, as a candidate for king... um this This unnamed character that people call by different names, um because you gave this guy a name, he's got a popularity rank, which the more stuff you do, the lower it gets, um which is which is really good. like I mean, like you the closer to number one you get.
00:25:12
Speaker
um ah that That stuff that stuff's is fun. like and And I'm getting better and better at... like Like managing the combat and stuff in the game. So I'm i'm having fun with it. I think I'll be recommend ready to recommend it pretty soon. Speaking of recommendations, aka joys, Chris, what's bringing you joy? Do you have one?
00:25:33
Speaker
I do, Matt. ah Like I said, ah replaying Tears of the Kingdom, using all the amiibos to get all the all the costumes. Because you know I got some amiibos, dawg.
00:25:45
Speaker
I know you got some amiibos. You know that playing Tears the Kingdom the first time, i went hard on amiibos. It has engendered a real intense feeling about the franchise. So I went ahead and bought all three of those big ol' hardcovers, which I did not own, but I bought Hyrule Historia, Art and Artifacts, and ah the Zelda Encyclopedia. ah The big ol' books,
00:26:14
Speaker
published by Dark Horse, that are massive, oversized hardcovers, that are just stuff about Zelda. Hyrule Historia is like ah an official timeline.
00:26:27
Speaker
Art and Artifacts is purely an art book that just ah reproduces ah like all the art from the instruction manuals. And if you are a fan of Tunic...
00:26:40
Speaker
ah then, buddy, you get that in there, too. oh you can You can compare and contrast. And then the Zelda Encyclopedia, of course. It is an encyclopedia. i don't necessarily I don't necessarily want to want to do this.
00:26:55
Speaker
But if you do want these books, they have been out for a while. Maybe they've got them at your local ah ah bookstore. But if they don't, I will say they're like $20 each on on the large bookstore website.
00:27:11
Speaker
ah They're worth picking up, especially if you like art books, especially if you like the history of video games, especially if like you like nice ah representations of oh beautiful mid-1986 characters.
00:27:30
Speaker
anime style art of Link in them, or you want to see like how the original illustrations from the Link to the Past manual ah were redrawn in a slightly more modern style for the ah Link to the Past Game Boy Advance release.
00:27:47
Speaker
oh You can go check all that stuff out. I love it. They're on the shelf next to my Dragon Quest art books and Dragon Ball art books because there is a lot that I really love about this.
00:28:00
Speaker
And Matt, so many fucking swords. I can imagine. I can only imagine. So many swords. So definitely, if like this is very late to the party. I think those books came out like 10 years ago.
00:28:15
Speaker
Yeah, I know Hyrule Historia was a while Yeah, Hyrule Historia was a while ago. I think there is like this would be like an updated version. actually don't know that for sure. It's good. They're good. They're good and I like them.
00:28:28
Speaker
Matt, what is bringing you joy? Well, Chris, I routinely recommend things on here that you can watch on YouTube. And i think we're we're in a different era of YouTube, or or what's becoming a different era of YouTube.
00:28:49
Speaker
Because it is increasingly becoming a time where makers of media that like air on airs on television...
00:29:02
Speaker
or that it' like archived media in particular, um are stopping thinking that they're going to put their stuff on streaming services and just putting it on YouTube.
00:29:13
Speaker
That's why the WWE wwe Vault channel exists. Because there's probably not going to be an archive of like WWE pay-per-views anymore after next year.
00:29:27
Speaker
Because it's all leaving Peacock. And I don't think it's going to Netflix or that yeah ESPN app. so So it's like... The one thing that company has.
00:29:41
Speaker
I know. That massive tape library. Yeah. i I think they're just going to put it all on YouTube. I mean, it like for free? Yeah.
00:29:51
Speaker
Because they've got like... The w WWE Vault channel, the WCW channel, and there's an ECW channel now, too. And they've put up some like entire pay-per-views on there already.
00:30:02
Speaker
mean, TNA has uploaded a lot of their shows. like like a lot of their... important for certain values of important TNA shows, like, in their entirety on on YouTube. so So there's that. And then there's also, like, shows from other countries that don't hair air here in the U.S. and that aren't on any streaming services here in the U.S. And so, like, increasingly, those things are just getting put on YouTube. And I think the sort of, like, canary in the coal mine for that was Taskmaster, which...
00:30:37
Speaker
They tried to do like a paid streaming service for a little bit in the US, and it did not work. And so they just put everything up for free on YouTube. So other shows are doing that too. And there's a show that I loved when I got to watch it in the UK.
00:30:54
Speaker
And I've seen clips of it, but now there's just like... Dozens and dozens of episodes of it on YouTube but that you can just watch. And I've been watching it a lot. I've had it on in the background during work a lot. And that is the game show Pointless.
00:31:12
Speaker
Do you know anything about this game show, Chris? I have never heard of it. Okay. So what Pointless is is, or the easiest way to describe it, is it's a reverse family feud.
00:31:25
Speaker
because So it's strangers in love.
00:31:31
Speaker
um No, the pet the the there are teams of two on Pointless, and they do know each other. um But they do a survey of 100 people. That is still the same.
00:31:43
Speaker
But instead of asking them like opinion questions... or Or questions without defined answers. They ask them questions they ask them to name things in a category that have very defined answers. Like, for example, they will have people name, like, um U.S. states with a coastline.
00:32:09
Speaker
Okay. Okay. And these are all English people. So, like, they don't know a ton about U.S. geography, which is very funny. I mean, I don't expect them to. Like, I couldn't tell you where Guernsey was or whatever. But, ah you know, they don't they think Detroit's a state. That's funny. um i I have recently seen an awful lot of of TikToks about ah British people finding out how big Lake Superior is.
00:32:38
Speaker
Yeah. Due to the popularity of Gordon Lightfoot's The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. 50 years stay this year.
00:32:47
Speaker
So they'll they'll ask him a question like that. And then what they're trying to do is not just get a correct answer. But they're trying to get an answer that is not only correct, but that also the fewest people said.
00:33:03
Speaker
Okay. In the survey. Or in the the group of 100 people that they um asked the question of. So what they're looking for is the most obscure correct answer. And the reason that the show is called Pointless is that if nobody out of the 100 gave the answer that you give, that answer is pointless.
00:33:27
Speaker
And so in the final round of the show, you have to get a pointless answer. to win like the the jackpot. which ah It's also funny because it's a shockingly low amount of money.
00:33:41
Speaker
It's like 3,000 pounds in a lot of most of the episodes. it goes up If nobody wins the jackpot, it goes up by 1,000 pounds every episode. I'll take 1,000 pounds.
00:33:53
Speaker
Sure, but like considering that like you know usually Jeopardy winners win like 20 grand... US. The fact that they only win like 3 or 4 thousand pounds is is ah funny.
00:34:08
Speaker
It's a fun show. and You know what that is, Matt? that's That's some real CC Swimming Pool talk. Yeah, that's true. spent 3 thousand pounds on Walker Shortbread.
00:34:19
Speaker
ah But it's a very fun show. And it's very fun to kind of try to figure out which correct answer will be the one that the least people said.
00:34:32
Speaker
like So, for example, in the one where it's like U.S. states with the coastline, the one that the most people said obviously is California. Right. right But like, what are the ones people say the least?
00:34:46
Speaker
It's like Delaware. i I was going to say, I bet nobody over there knows about Alabama.
00:34:56
Speaker
Well, that's... Yeah, that's Gulf Coastline. There's coastline. There is a coastline. i guess Maybe the Alabama would have been included, yeah. But I think the one that people said the least was Delaware.
00:35:07
Speaker
e ah And so and that's kind of the fun of it. like You can get a correct answer, but like did 85 people say it?
00:35:19
Speaker
Because you're trying to get the lowest score. And so if you say one that a lot of people said... you get a higher score. um And if you get it wrong, you get 100 points.
00:35:30
Speaker
Okay, now see, that has sold me on it. Yeah. Yeah. And Richard Osman, who people know from Taskmaster, is the co-host. He's kind of like the...
00:35:43
Speaker
the like facts and figures guy on the show. And, uh, he's really enjoyable to watch too. So, um, there's tons and tons of episodes of it on YouTube. Um, they have a channel that's just pointless TV UK and, um, it's like full of full episodes of it.
00:36:02
Speaker
Um, recent ones and older ones. I think that show started in like,
00:36:09
Speaker
2008 maybe. And they've got episodes from back then too. That look like they're much older than they are. o
00:36:18
Speaker
British TV. British TV. Alright, those are our comforts and joys, Chris. It's time to talk about some comics. Let's do it.

Comic Book Reviews

00:36:29
Speaker
The texture's choice this week is Batman Deadpool number one. By Grant Morrison and Dan Mora. This is like. I said this on our text thread.
00:36:39
Speaker
This is like the opposite. Of the other Deadpool Batman comic. That came out. Because I talked about how that other. Batman Deadpool or Deadpool Batman comic. Was like.
00:36:51
Speaker
Not in a bad way. But it was kind of like Baby's first comic. Right. This is a comic. That has. References to.
00:37:04
Speaker
Amalgam. Not just references to like characters. Like Spider-Boy's web gun? Yes, Spider-Boy's web gun is this. Dark Claw it' is in the book.
00:37:19
Speaker
Dark Claw is just here. Hell yeah, he is. Batman gets put in a Lazarus pit and becomes Dark Claw for a little while. Yeah, and if you're thinking, wow, that sounds like some shit Chris and Matt would like.
00:37:32
Speaker
yeah like It has so many deep cuts. It has so many things that are just like throwing you right into the deep end. It is FHO. And I loved It a rules.
00:37:46
Speaker
yeah I have always wondered what Grant Morrison thinks of John Ostrander killing Grant Morrison in Suicide Squad. Yeah.
00:38:00
Speaker
And I feel like we now have the answer, which is hilarious. Well, he it is addressed in this comic, yes. it is yeah Grant brings back one of their most beloved characters, Grant, yes in this issue, and directly talks about that bit from Suicide Squad, and and rewrites it, because Grant has cosmic keyboard that can change canon, and...
00:38:26
Speaker
they rewrite that out of existence. I loved that so much. There are bits of this that I was cackling reading. yeah it is a It is a comic that, like many of the best Grant Morrison comics, is really good if you've read 800 other comics.
00:38:50
Speaker
Yes. But if you have, boy, it's great. it's It has Deadpool holding Batman in the Superman holding Supergirl pose from Crisis, which is also the Superman holding Batman pose from Final Crisis. Yes.
00:39:09
Speaker
ah it's It's very fun to see Grant getting metatextual about their own work. like There is no difference between...
00:39:24
Speaker
Grant Morrison writing this comic and an extremely talented fan of Grant Morrison writing this comic. it It is very much Grant. ah Well, if if there's any time that Grant could do this, it's in the comic that he put put Deadpool in, right? Rodney gag in this about like um Batman continually asking Deadpool about Deathstroke is ah really great.
00:39:51
Speaker
um Also, the bad the the villain of this is Cassandra Nova. um Yeah, like I said, an extremely talented fan of Grant Morrison yes yes would absolutely make Cassandra Nova the villain ah but if they only got to do one.
00:40:05
Speaker
Yes, if they only got to do one. Yeah, I loved this. ah it's It's so metatextual. And the whole kind of conceit of it happening because eternity and...
00:40:20
Speaker
the embodiment of the DC universe. Does she have a name? Kismet. Kismet. That's right. um Eternity and Kismet um had a one night stand. Yeah.
00:40:32
Speaker
Eternity and Kismet just kind of hook up every now and then. Yeah. And that's, that's where all of your crossovers come from. That's, that's where amalgam comes from. That's how little crossovers are made. Yes.
00:40:44
Speaker
Yeah. It's, I, I've, The best Grant Morrison comics are the ones where you read it and you're like, oh, of course, I absolutely should have seen this coming.
00:40:56
Speaker
And of course, the perfect character to be in the Deadpool book that is crossing over with the DC Universe is the writer. Yes.
00:41:08
Speaker
That's great. That's beautiful and hilarious. There's a couple of backups in here, too. There's a Hellblazer Doctor Strange thing by James Tynan, Josh Williamson, and Scott Snyder, drawn by Hayden Sherman, which is very good.
00:41:23
Speaker
Pretty good, yeah. There's a Nightwing and Wolverine thing by Tom Taylor. That's didn't read pretty good. Harley Quinn and Hulk by Mariko Tamaki that's cute. And a G. Willow Wilson static Ms. Marvel ah story as well. Very fun. very fun But the the main event, obviously, is ah is the Grant Deadpool Batman stuff. And I hate to bring this up every now and again, but there were definitely parts of this that reminded me of of Grant's Batman run.
00:41:54
Speaker
And can you imagine if Dan Mora had drawn that whole thing? Matt, don don't don't make me pine for the world we don't have.
00:42:06
Speaker
I know. and There's a lot of things I wish were different, Matt. Dan Mora kills it on this, though, man. Maybe maybe third on the list is that Dan Mora or Chris Burnham had drawn all of Batman R.I.P.
00:42:20
Speaker
Yeah. A book that you wanted to talk about quickly um is two issues of Marian Heretic. The first two issues of that series. Yes, this is ah this is the new book from a friend of the show, Teeny Howard, writing with Joe Jaro on art, colors by Walter Bayamonte, letters by Jim Campbell.
00:42:43
Speaker
I mean this in the most positive way, because you know that we're fans of Friend of the Show, Teeny Howard. This feels like the most Teeny Howard possible book.
00:42:57
Speaker
It is about a ah nun who is a heretic, who a literal Marian heretic, because ah she believes in the divinity of Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, ah who, in order to spare the lives of the other members of her convent, becomes a witch hunter, and then is immediately...
00:43:26
Speaker
ah like told by the leader of the local witches that she should be a witch. And that what she is actually doing is witchcraft.
00:43:37
Speaker
And that she should rebel against this ah version of the Catholic Church. I just feel like my thought reading this was like, oh, this ah this is a Teenie Howard comic where Teenie Howard meets Teenie Howard.
00:43:51
Speaker
Like, oh, there's a there's a no someone with a complicated relationship with religion meeting a witch who wants her to rebel. ah Great.
00:44:02
Speaker
Great. I love it. ah It's an absolute hoot. I am unfamiliar with Joe Jaro, but this book is beautiful. I've seen Teenie posting stuff from it on socials.
00:44:14
Speaker
ah There's a really cool quality to it where it's very difficult to figure out in the first two issues like when it takes place. Because it feels like very like it feels like Berserk in the in the first issue. Like very nebulously European fantasy inspired. But then in the second issue, there's people dressed normal and some dudes have machine guns.
00:44:41
Speaker
So it's it's interesting in that regard. i think it's a real ah kind of like, you know... TD cut loose, just doing whatever. New Rules Just Right, Outback Steakhouse.
00:44:52
Speaker
Love it. but I really liked it. Highly recommend it. The first two issues are out. I caught up on them both today, and ah they are an absolute hoot. So give it a read.
00:45:04
Speaker
Especially if, like me, you are someone with a, would say, fairly significant academic and entertainment interest in ah saints and Catholic ephemera.
00:45:18
Speaker
One last book I want to discuss quickly is um the final issue of One World Under Doom by Ryan North and R.B. Silva. um I would probably say that this event went on too long. It probably should have been like six issues instead of nine.
00:45:36
Speaker
But... It does end in a very, very interesting way. As I mentioned last time, and I'm going to spoil the series, just FYI.
00:45:47
Speaker
As I mentioned last time, issue 8 ended with ah Valeria Richards um getting getting hurt. And this issue resolves that and resolves the whole Emperor Doom thing in a very different way than Emperor Doom did before.
00:46:07
Speaker
40-some years ago, the Emperor Doom graphic novel. Doom just ends up giving it all up um in in negotiations with ah the Ashanti and the Living Tribunal to bring like or ah bring Valeria back to life.
00:46:26
Speaker
And so he gives up being emperor, he gives up ruling the world, he gives up being sorcerer supreme, and um it ultimately he gives up his life.
00:46:37
Speaker
And ah he comes and finds Reed Richards, and he takes off his mask and he hands it to Reed, or actually he disintegrates as he gives it to Reed. ah printed on the inside of the mask is his last will and testament, which he has made Reed Richards the executor of.
00:46:54
Speaker
Wild? Yes. Dude kind of loved that. Yes. And it leads into a new series ah starting next month, which is called The Will of Doom. So it's very similar to Death of Doctor Strange in that way.
00:47:10
Speaker
and I do kind of love that. um Like, I think... One World Under Doom, like I said, I think it got stretched a little too thin and and could have been tighter um ultimately. But where it ended up, like where it started was great and where it ended up was also great, I feel like. And and was kind of a surprising way of telling this story. Because it ultimately became about like the one person, Valeria, who Doom actually cares about.
00:47:46
Speaker
And will upend everything to make sure that she's around and okay. Not a perfect event, but stuck the landing, I feel like, pretty pretty well.
00:48:02
Speaker
And it also sets up the new Sorcerer Supreme, ah who will be getting her own book about being her being Sorcerer Supreme pretty soon. Who's the new Sorcerer Supreme?
00:48:12
Speaker
It's Scarlet Witch. Oh, interesting. Yeah. That's it for our comic segment, Chris. Let's rate some swords. Let's do it. but when i swing my swords they ya chop up oh Here's our first submission.
00:48:24
Speaker
It's from Sean Bell.
00:48:28
Speaker
And we recently rated the Clan McLeod sword from the movie high Highlander. Yes, we did. Connor McLeod sword, specifically.
00:48:40
Speaker
Well, that's not the Clan McLeod sword. Right, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's what I'm saying. it's It's the katana. It's the katana that Connor McCloud has. Yeah, the one that he gets from Ramirez. This submission is also from the movie Highlander, but it is the Kurgan sword. Ooh.
00:48:58
Speaker
Now, it's been it's been a minute since I've watched Highlander. I was actually going to watch Highlander with ah some friends who hadn't seen it ah last week, but I was sick. So I didn't get to go watch...
00:49:12
Speaker
highlander and refresh myself on all the swords in that movie. So, the Kurgan sword is... That's Clancy Brown. That's Clancy Brown. That is the sword that Clancy Brown's Kurgan, who is the villain of that movie, keeps in like a carrying case and assembles like a submachine gun.
00:49:36
Speaker
That's the shit. Yeah.
00:49:41
Speaker
I mean, I can tell you that's the shit. Yeah. um It's got... I think essentially... It's like one of the Klingon knives that like the the the the extra blades pop out.
00:49:56
Speaker
It's got the extra blades in the hilt. Yeah. and And I think you would essentially call it a a broadsword, probably.
00:50:09
Speaker
Or maybe it's not wide enough to be a braw sword, maybe just a long sword. but ah But yeah, it's it's pretty sweet.
00:50:20
Speaker
It's pretty sweet. it I mean, it rules. it is It's a very basic sword. But yeah, man, it's it's i mean it's it's brilliant in its simplicity, you know?
00:50:35
Speaker
Yes. yeah I just love that it gets a scene where he, like, unboxes it. That's great. And assembles it.
00:50:48
Speaker
That's so great. Which is not a thing typically done with swords. ah No. No, it's not. like Guns all the time.
00:50:58
Speaker
Swords, not so much. Yeah, you do generally want swords to be in one piece.
00:51:08
Speaker
Whenever possible. this one This one, he assembles and otherwise carries around in like a briefcase. That is worth like a full point by itself.
00:51:20
Speaker
I think so, too, yeah. I like that it has the little ah extra blades. I like that it is assembled like a ah like a like a gun.
00:51:32
Speaker
That's so funny. Yeah. just Oh, and and and he can like he can alter the length of it. like It can be used as a shorter sword, and then he can attach more of the blade to make it longer.
00:51:47
Speaker
Uh-huh. Oh, man. Now, we could get one of these for $619. I found one cheaper than that. I found one for 520, I think. That's British pounds.
00:52:00
Speaker
Oh, okay. We're on the same websites. Look at this sword. Royal Armouries Museum Shop? Yep. Oh, it is 520 pounds. You're right. Yeah. God, that's so funny.
00:52:11
Speaker
Does Highlander... It's been a while since I've seen it. Does Highlander know it's funny? That's a great question. That is a truly excellent question. i don't think like there needs to be like a like a Danny McBride Highlander remake or anything.
00:52:31
Speaker
But I do think there could be like, like, uh, the, the ready or not guy could do i make a remake of Highlander. So I just quickly searched like Kurgan sword, um, on, on the web.
00:52:48
Speaker
And I got this result, which is the sci-fi science fiction and fantasy um stack exchange site, where someone asked, how does the Kurgan sword work?
00:53:03
Speaker
Uh-huh. Uh-huh. And i'm just I'll just read this post. In the first Highlander movie, we see the Kurgan in a hotel room assembling his sword. It was a bunch of segments that fit neatly together, like something you would buy at an Ikea for weapons. Yeah.
00:53:16
Speaker
Okay, hang on. This concept I'm really liking. Even the blade came in multiple segments. From what I understand, a blade needs to have a certain amount of give.
00:53:30
Speaker
Like a highway, it needs to be able to deal with a certain level of fluctuation and bending. Otherwise, it would just break when meeting substantial resistance. right Now, the reason why highways are not made of interlocking segments is because the bending and fluctuation would not happen in the same direction.
00:53:44
Speaker
and the segments would push against each other, resulting in warping and deformation. We can expect the same from a problem from a sword that has a segmented blade. I'm aware of other segmented blades in fiction, but there are those are less swords and more bladed whips.
00:53:59
Speaker
The Kurgan sword operates purely as a standard bastard sword, so how does he his blade not break on impact? ah And most of the answers are just like, it's a movie. Yeah.
00:54:14
Speaker
But ah ah apparently, um Scalagrim, who is a guy who talks about swords on YouTube, has ah said that it would like not work.
00:54:27
Speaker
No, it absolutely would not work. Would would functionally not work. Yeah, but but people aren't immortal either. you're Right, yeah. and And they certainly, if they had immortality, would not...
00:54:41
Speaker
watch the fabulous Freebirds wrestle in Madison Square Garden. Yeah, man. i You know why it works? Because it kind of rules. Yeah, I mean, it's it's stupid, but great. Which is exactly our lane.
00:54:58
Speaker
i think i think it's a, I would say, solid six. Okay, so you we we gave the McLeod Katana, the Connor McLeod Katana, seven.
00:55:12
Speaker
i think I think six is good, yeah. Yeah. Because I think we have to acknowledge that like it functionally doesn't work. Yeah, look, I say it rules, but it rules in a way that's dumb.
00:55:29
Speaker
Which is great. but But conceptually, it's yeah it's fun. Yeah. um Yeah, the the assembling assembling the sword is so funny.
00:55:43
Speaker
here's our next submission. It's from Deez Knotts.
00:55:48
Speaker
Deez Knotts has submitted Payment Day, the King's Sword. It's carried by King Amathar of House Rocks. From Dimension 20's A Crown of Candy, Lou Wilson's PC carries this sword, and Lou Wilson himself carried it, because yes, a fan made the sword for real.
00:56:08
Speaker
And there's a clip of that. I believe he gave it to Chris Pine. Yes, we will continue. The sword is roughly five feet, six inches long, and the pommel of the sword actually smells like peanuts.
00:56:22
Speaker
Later gifted it to Chris Pine on the Jimmy Kimmel show. As of now, its whereabouts are unknown. For those of you who don't know, I know I've talked about it before. It was the first season of Dimension 20 that i really got emotionally invested in.
00:56:38
Speaker
ah Crown of Candy is Game of Thrones in Candyland. It is an intense, serious, very dramatic, high like character death a story in the of political intrigue and the succession of the leader of an empire, and everyone is food.
00:57:03
Speaker
And our heroes are the Candians. ah So ah Amathar is like rock candy. He's like a man made of rock candy.
00:57:14
Speaker
oh And the rest of the main cast, there's ah there's ah like ah like a peppermint guy. There's a a chocolate Easter bunny.
00:57:26
Speaker
ah There's Amathar's captain of the guard is a gummy bear. ah it's It's very good. ah The bad guys are like bread and vegetables. oh'll But... This sword is incredible.
00:57:47
Speaker
Because it has a great ability. ah Which is... ah That fits its name. Because all of the names of the the weapons... Because like Game of Thrones, all the magic weapons have names.
00:58:00
Speaker
ah are jokes all about candy. So there's like Flickrish the Twizzling Blade. right yeah ah And there's Payment Day, of course. Because it's, you know, it's paydays.
00:58:14
Speaker
But also, the name fits what it does because it is a sword that if you get a critical hit on someone who has killed a member of your family, they need to make a constitution save or immediately die.
00:58:31
Speaker
And, spoiler warning, that's how this campaign ends.
00:58:39
Speaker
It's fucking payment day. ah that is a ah That is an ability that i I know I have used it for, ah like like, I've used something similar for stuff before, but that in particular...
00:58:54
Speaker
i oh The sword that I have tattooed on my arm from my D&D campaign has a similar ability. oh Because I think that rules. and like That is a perfect narrative and ah and gameplay mechanic blend.
00:59:12
Speaker
ah Plus, it's fucking huge. It's a great sword, and I love a great sword, Matt. it's It is gigantic, yeah. ah Yeah, the real-life one that is true to size is hilarious.
00:59:25
Speaker
It's so big. like i the I was just looking at the video of Lou Wilson showing what the fan-made version looks like and it is it's almost too big to hold like it's unbelievable and then in the jimmy kimball clip where he gives it to chris pine it's like chris pine does a little bit where he like knights him with it and he's like barely moving be like i doubt that it's that heavy um but it's it's man it's sizable
00:59:59
Speaker
Yeah, man. it's I love payment day. I don't know if it's as... i don't think it like flat out completely owns as much as the Dragonslayer or the Master Sword, but I would be willing to give 8 or 9.
01:00:16
Speaker
Okay, this one's all you. I'm i'm i'm leaving this up to you. because Yeah, i would get I would give it a a solid nine. Okay, nine it is. I have not watched that season of Dimension 20, so I cannot speak to its effectiveness. I have only seen it at this point, the the fan replica of it so It's... ah ah
01:00:42
Speaker
the i mean you know The whole point of Dimension 20 is that it's ah improvisers doing comedy yeah while playing D&D. And I think Lou Wilson, the ace, the ace Lou Wilson, the once-in-a-century talent, is... Fabian Seacaster from Fantasy High is a is a very silly character who has like some pretty serious moments. But like that is a character who is probably...
01:01:10
Speaker
like probably the most famous moment of that character is him fucking it up to the point where he almost dies. And you see the absolute commitment of Lou Wilson and Brennan Lee Mulligan.
01:01:24
Speaker
and they've talked about it of Brennan being like, is the most popular character in our flagship IP going to die in this session? And how can I come back from this?
01:01:37
Speaker
Amathar is a full on, like actual badass character. Like, for as as goofy as Crown of Candy is as a premise, the fact that they're playing everything so straight, and that Amathar is a genuine, absolute badass who has this badass sword, and it pays off so perfectly, it's great.
01:02:01
Speaker
I love it. All right, that one got a nine. Yeah, i i it maybe sometime I will eventually get around to watching those, but it is just a big ask. Those are those are long episodes.
01:02:15
Speaker
And in if i if I'm trying to watch it while I work, I will inevitably miss something and want to go back and figure out what I missed.
01:02:26
Speaker
um So it's it's... I know it's like it can people will say, like oh, you don't have to give it your full attention, but... like if I meet miss a story beat or something, it's hard for me to catch back up.
01:02:41
Speaker
So it's, it's tough for me to watch those like in a kind of not giving it my full attention mode, you know?
01:02:52
Speaker
All right. Here's our next submission it is from David Austin and David sent us to, but is ah is telling us to, we can choose from these two based on a description.
01:03:04
Speaker
Okay? So, yeah Chris, choose from one of these. One, a mythological sword turned metaphorical sword.
01:03:16
Speaker
Two, a constantly overshadowed but nevertheless awesome sword. Alright, I want to go with the second option because i cannot deal with metaphorical swords. Okay.
01:03:30
Speaker
Okay. are you just yes anyway I'm guessing it's the Sword of Damocles? It is. it which Which was a real sword the story. Yes. But is unremarkable.
01:03:42
Speaker
Yeah, but we're not doing that one. We're not doing that one. Somebody else might submit the Sword of Damocles, but we're not doing it here. The other one, the constantly overshadowed but nevertheless awesome sword,
01:03:56
Speaker
is Serpico's Silph Sword from Berserk, which does whip ass. No, wait, that kicks ass? Yeah. I was talking literally yesterday... about ah the the scene where Serpico is fighting Guts on the mountain path. On the cliffside, yeah. Yeah, on the cliffside, where Guts ah can't use the Dragonslayer, and how much that fucking owns. Now, I don't that i don't think he's got the Silph Sword ah then, but still. Serpico's great, actually.
01:04:31
Speaker
But the Silph Sword is great. it It is essentially a sword... like a small sword that generates wind. Like it's a magic sword that generates wind.
01:04:44
Speaker
Yeah, it's got wind elementals in it. Yes. ah And it is like Serpico.
01:04:53
Speaker
The sword is like Serpico is like a counterpoint to Guts in that he is a small, effective, quick good fighter He's like the you know he's the good he's the the tough little guy, while Guts is the tough big guy.
01:05:17
Speaker
But also, like the Silph Sword is the counterpoint to the Dragon Slayer, where it's all finesse. Yeah, because Serpico
01:05:27
Speaker
Like, his affectation is that he's never bothered, right? Yes, yes, Like, he's just chill all the time. like Rob Van Damme. At minimum, he never shows it.
01:05:40
Speaker
he Yeah, he never shows it. Guts, yeah um I don't know if you know the title of that manga. It is Berserk. Guts goes fucking wild. Guts got that dog in him.
01:05:51
Speaker
Guts is always bothered. Yeah, guts Guts is so bothered that he exists in the intersists. yeah Some of the, like... like Some of the coolest moments of swordplay in Berserk are like Serpico moments. Because isn't bad fighting, obviously. Yeah.
01:06:13
Speaker
because guts is not a guts isn't like bad at fighting obviously But Guts is not a technique guy. and And he rarely gets into sword fights. like Occasionally he will. like yeah He sword fights with Nosferatu Zod, for example. I mean, you know he he beat Griffith.
01:06:34
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, Griffith beat him first, and then he beat him later, right? yeah like In the rematch. but So I'm not going to say that Guts is not a eight an able swordsman.
01:06:47
Speaker
But he's not it's mostly that his sword is eight feet long and made of wrought iron. Right. Like, Guts can use technique, and he is a technician, but more often than not, he just powers through a fight.
01:07:07
Speaker
Like, he doesn't have to use technique because he can just swing that giant sword once and cut ten guys in half. Yeah, man. And they don't see it coming. Like, they have no idea that that's what's staring them down, right? Serpico is like all technique and will cut one guy in half, but he will do it extremely well.
01:07:35
Speaker
and And quickly, and then move on to the next guy, yeah. like Like, arguably Serpico is as good of a fighter as Guts is.
01:07:47
Speaker
like yeah he he he he is very skilled. And once he gets the Silph Sword, he's even harder to stop.
01:07:59
Speaker
yeah It's so absolutely like basic storytelling, but Isidro getting fire elementals because he's hot-tempered...
01:08:12
Speaker
And Guts having this giant piece of iron that you cannot break. And Serpico having these wind spirits that are quick. Like, it's so basic, but done so well.
01:08:28
Speaker
Yeah, and just... Yeah, just smart. Like, if you're going to have an adventuring party. Because, like, you know, by the time you get to the...
01:08:41
Speaker
Millennium Falcon arc. ah the so The Falcon of the Millennium Empire arc, Matt. I don't want to get ah ah trying to get a C&D over here. ya ah Yeah, we'll we'll go with the Dark Horse name. um By the time you get there, and the Fantasia arc is definitely, like, Berserk is a story about an adventuring party.
01:09:04
Speaker
yeah And so each member of that adventuring party is essentially... They are essentially an RPG party where you've got like the big, strong fighter guy, the small, quick guy, the the magic users... ah And a child. ah The child Isidro.
01:09:31
Speaker
And... Well, I guess, yeah, by that point, Farnes is also a magic user. Yeah. um Although she's kind of like a She's not fully a mage, right? She's like a a paladin or something.
01:09:48
Speaker
She...
01:09:51
Speaker
Farnes complicated. She is very complicated. Yeah, like Farnes... She goes through a lot and has a lot going on.
01:10:04
Speaker
like like what you know you You have your tank, your rogue, your caster, your masochist.
01:10:13
Speaker
but but like what what is it what it Isn't it like a paladin who's kind of like a knight who also uses magic? yeah like ah like ah yeah Yeah, and she is like a a holy knight at one point.
01:10:26
Speaker
As for the sylph sword, I also really like the the look of it, the design. It's a it's a metal feather. So it looks cool. ah Just, you know, again, very simple idea, but done really well.
01:10:44
Speaker
Yeah. It ain't going to be a 10 like the Dragon Slayer. but No, but it's pretty fucking good. It's an 8 or 9. It's great. Like, yeah. We have Judas Sword is a 9. Payment Day is 9.
01:10:59
Speaker
ah The Sword That Was Death is an 8.
01:11:05
Speaker
Uh, let's see. The Pure Nail is an 8. Durandal's a 9. Soul Taker is an 8. I think maybe the Silk Sword is an 8. I think it's an 8. It's a good-ass sword.
01:11:19
Speaker
The Emperor's Flaming Sword from Warhammer 40k is an 8. Fucking hilarious. ah Twilight is an 8. The Soul Sword is an 8. I mean... There are a lot of very good swords that are eights. So i'm i'm yeah very good pleased I'm very pleased to give um the Silph Sword an eight. If five is an average sword, I guess 4.5 would be an average sword, because there's no zero.
01:11:45
Speaker
Then, yeah, like ah an eight's a good sword.
01:11:50
Speaker
All right. Our next submission is from Owen, who says... And he had a hell of a time picking a speed for his first submission, but decided to go over the top ah with the first Tsurugi, a.k.a. the Fusion Sword, a.k.a. the only cool thing about Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.
01:12:17
Speaker
Okay, i I never saw Advent Children. Nor did I. I never saw the movie. um But they are the six swords, which is ah which are a match set that lives in Cloud's Motorcycle and combine into one big mega sword. So it's another sword that combined that is made of pieces that combine into one a big sword.
01:12:39
Speaker
um i mean, I'm looking at it, and it does look pretty fucking cool, actually. Yeah. it's it's It looks cool. It is not... I mean, it looks dumb as hell.
01:12:51
Speaker
it's It ain't as good as the Buster Sword. Like, it's a downgrade from the Buster Sword. It is a downgrade from the Buster Sword, but I do like the idea of a sword that is six swords.
01:13:03
Speaker
ah a Yes, it is a sword that is made of six swords. Yeah. um And there's even a ah diagram on the Final Fantasy fandom showing how the different components combine.
01:13:17
Speaker
ah that's That's pretty good. Do you want me to send you that page? Oh, I'm looking at it. Okay. Here are the various components. There's the main blade, which has the handle. That's what I call Matt.
01:13:31
Speaker
the I'm the main blade, yeah. ah Then there is the hollow blade, which which forms the front of the completed assembly. It is hollow and forms a V-shape, save for the top and bottom of the blade. Uh-huh.
01:13:48
Speaker
Uh... Then there... and And that has its own separate handle, um but it's not at the bottom. It's kind of like... It's... It's it's not exactly like a Batleth handle, but it's, you know...
01:14:04
Speaker
It's like built into the bottom of the blade. Right. Like, ah instead of having a guard, the blade just goes all the way down to the bottom of the handle. Yes. I don't really... i i wish I had a better way to describe that, but... um Then there are the back blades, which are two mirrored sawtooth-edge long swords with angular tips and long back hilts.
01:14:27
Speaker
And then there are two side blades, which are identical mirror image swords that are significantly smaller and shorter than the other four. And they have a gear mechanism that allows the handle to be folded up.
01:14:40
Speaker
You gotta have gears, Matt. Yeah. Gotta have some gears so these things can... It's so silly. Yeah. But I do kind of love it. it's I mean, it's very similar to the Kurgan sword, right? like Yeah, but more.
01:14:57
Speaker
But more, yeah. so One more? i yeah I think we gotta give this one a seven. Seven. oh Well, that that's appropriate. It is apparently seven swords.
01:15:12
Speaker
o Seven swords? it's I think it's six. It's six. It's six pieces. It's dumb. I love it. Yes, it's the main blade, the hollow blade, two but back back blades, and two side blades.
01:15:27
Speaker
So it's six. It's six pieces.
01:15:32
Speaker
Okay. I think we gotta give this one a 7. It's pretty great. all right and um It's a Megazord sword. A Megazord? It's not just in Advent Children.
01:15:45
Speaker
It is also in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. I think everything's in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. Yeah. ah It also appears in Dirge of Cerberus...
01:16:00
Speaker
Final Fantasy VII, but not in anything playable. It's just in a cutscene.
01:16:08
Speaker
i Do we... Are we coming down and saying that a sword that is multiple swords is better than a sword that's a gun? Because Squall's Gunblade is also ranked at 7.
01:16:26
Speaker
But the Ritterpalash is a five. hu
01:16:34
Speaker
That makes me want to make it a six. Because i like that I do like the gunblade more.
01:16:42
Speaker
Matt, I don't know if I'll ever truly understand you.
01:16:48
Speaker
Why do you say that? Because you don't like a sword that's two swords. You don't like a sword that's three swords. You're okay with a sword that's six swords, but you like a sword that's a gun.
01:17:01
Speaker
the But the sword that's six swords combines into one sword.
01:17:07
Speaker
Yes.
01:17:10
Speaker
The sword that's two sword is just two swords. Yeah.
01:17:18
Speaker
I would say let's take let's take this down to six and put it on par with the Kurgan sword, which I think... i think it took I think it's as cool as the gunplay.
01:17:30
Speaker
i I disagree. I think the gunplay is good. I don't think it's one less than the self-sword. so Yeah. yeah Alright.
01:17:43
Speaker
i'm i think that's I think that's good. The next submission is from Stephen Wilcox. ah wilcox Um, it is, okay. This is just a real sword that Steven has.
01:18:00
Speaker
Oh, okay. Um, Steven says, hello, I am sitting submitting a sword that is very personal to me. I've had it for over 30 years now, but I also acknowledge that it's not a very good sword. This is definitely a bottom shooter. For you for your review, I submit my personal practice fencing foil.
01:18:19
Speaker
Now, here's the thing. Why would you do this to us? But also,
01:18:28
Speaker
did we say at the start of this that they would be fictional swords? ah we've We've had a couple of real swords, Matt. We we did have the Norwegian Sword of State. We the Norwegian Sword of State. ah we've Have we not ranked Joyeuse? Because Joyeuse is real.
01:18:46
Speaker
I don't think we have ranked joyous. I don't think we said it had to be a fictional sword. I guess not. um I will say, your practice fencing foil, when stacked up against, say, Excalibur, shan't farewell.
01:19:02
Speaker
Yeah. um Or the Sword of Omens, or you know, ah you know other good swords.
01:19:14
Speaker
Here's what I don't understand. Why do fencing foils have pistol grips? I think because they're so often used one-handed. I mean, I know that it's like, you know, a fencing foil is a sporting sword.
01:19:28
Speaker
I guess we could probably ask our our buddy Ben, who is a fencer. Yes. But, like, i don't know. I don't i don't like that sport foils have pistol grips, because I think that makes them look less like swords.
01:19:44
Speaker
And I'm shit like i am not an expert in real life swords, so I know I'm wrong, but that is a belief that I hold. Well, I think a lot of swords,
01:19:57
Speaker
like even smaller swords, usually have the grips that they do so that you can hold them with two hands. But I don't think you're ever going to want to hold one of these fencing foils with more than one hand.
01:20:11
Speaker
ah But that's just ah that's just a guess. I don't know for sure. Steven, feel free to write in and let us know. i mean, let us know why ah they to have pistol grips. Matt, here's the thing.
01:20:26
Speaker
Steven is Patreon backer. okay Line stepper. yeah Listener of the show, presumably. it's it's i mean that that is That is debatable at this point, but we'll find out.
01:20:41
Speaker
why would why would Why would you send us a sword and be like, it's not a very good sword, and then be like, I've owned it for 30 years and it has served me well? well yeah i mean ah Steven at the end of the email says, it is a standard, non-electric fencing foil.
01:21:00
Speaker
It has a very scratched up guard and a pistol grip. It has a red tip on the end so as to not hurt anyone. It has been in many bouts and served me well. Yeah, man. man
01:21:13
Speaker
like just It's obviously got some sentimental value to you. I mean, i don't think it's a one.
01:21:22
Speaker
and i you know i think it's a two or three, probably. I mean, Matt, we have...
01:21:30
Speaker
Look, I'm not saying I disagree with you. I am saying that in the past, we have been very harsh... to swords that we have deemed as not being able to perform the function of a sword, which is chopping dudes' heads off.
01:21:50
Speaker
Sure. ah but this But, you know, a fencing foil has the the the purpose of sporting, not the purpose of cutting.
01:22:02
Speaker
Then... if it's If the purpose is not cutting, Matt... But look, the there's there's a value and a use to a to a training sword, right?
01:22:17
Speaker
to That's not um killing people, but that helps you learn how to use a sword that you can then use to cut dudes heads I am not saying that I want Steven to kill people.
01:22:30
Speaker
No. I don't think Steven should commit the sin of murder. But you gotta use this sword, or a sword like it, dulled sword, ah a practice sword, to learn how to use a real sword. To to to effectively use a real sword later.
01:22:51
Speaker
i just feel like I just feel like I'm going to feel bad about the rating that I want to give this sword when you're over here saying things like, it has served me well.
01:23:01
Speaker
I think, but but also Steven said it's a bottom You're asking me to rank your dog? it's Steven also said it's a bottom chopper. So I think as long as we don't give it a one, it's fine.
01:23:16
Speaker
And it's probably a two. i don't know, man. I don't know. Give it a two. I'll take the fall for it. You'll fall on this sword?
01:23:27
Speaker
If it's upsetting for Steven, I think it's a two. Alright. I'm looking at what else we have at at two. ah Because it's not... We've gotten more good swords than bad.
01:23:42
Speaker
The two... the The three that we have at two, two of them break immediately. Yes. One of them is just too much.
01:23:55
Speaker
Yeah. Alright, Matt, you can call this one a two. but But the other ones... But the ones we have at three... are
01:24:05
Speaker
Well, you know what? We gave the Singing Sword a three. And I'd say this is as effective as the Singing Sword, so maybe we give it a three.
01:24:15
Speaker
Matt, the Singing Sword's alive. That's true. Alright, we'll keep it a two. um Look, ah you said you would take the fall for this one. Yes, I'll take the fall for it being a two.
01:24:28
Speaker
I was trying to talk my and myself into it being a ah a three, but I think it is a two. Yeah. Okay. All right. Next, our next submission is ah from Jason Ledoux.
01:24:45
Speaker
ah Well, Jason writes, I know this won't rank very high, but I always remember this sword as the one that cut Medusa's head off in one of the best scenes in cinema. It's Divine Temper.
01:24:59
Speaker
which is Perseus' sword from the 1981 film Clash of the Titans. I don't know why you're out here saying that's not a, like, won't fare well. That's a cool sword.
01:25:11
Speaker
It looks great. Yeah. i ah i love ag gladius. Yeah. it' ah It looks cool. It's got, like, ah that that that nice little, like, a semicircle hilt.
01:25:28
Speaker
um With the the jewels encrusted in it. um I think, you know, i think probably the thought here is that it's small, but it gets the job done.
01:25:41
Speaker
i mean, it's it's not a knife. It's not a knife. It's definitely a sword. That bad boy's a sword. And it cut Medusa's head off, man. It cut Medusa's head off.
01:25:55
Speaker
Again, i don't know why you would i I don't know why you didn't believe in this sword. It's beautiful, actually. Yeah, it's very simple. Yeah. But it is, you know, like... It's a cool-looking sword. It's got some filigree in the blade. Yeah.
01:26:16
Speaker
Yeah, it's nice. I like it. Now, what is... what is what it ah I can't wait to call him Scott Ledoux. That is a guy who was in the AWA.

Sword Discussions

01:26:26
Speaker
Jason Ledoux. Jason Ledoux. Thank you. ah Now, what did Jason call this?
01:26:31
Speaker
It is called Divine Temper. That's a great name. i I did not see it referenced... as such in a while.
01:26:44
Speaker
or it like a I didn't see that reference anywhere else as being the name of the sword. That's a cool name.
01:26:51
Speaker
um i well Funny enough, Jason sent this link to a so ah website where you can buy it. and ah don't Don't threaten me with a good time, Matt.
01:27:03
Speaker
This version is much bigger than the version in the movie. Yeah, this is a this is a longer blade. Yeah. But you know what? It was cool as hell. this is a I guess this was made as a commission in 2020 and sent to somebody specifically.
01:27:21
Speaker
um I love the the like opalescent jewel in the pommel. yeah Yeah, they did a great job. um the The people at Fable Blades... Yeah, see, this this is elegant in its simplicity.
01:27:37
Speaker
Yeah. This is an elegant sword, and it cut Medusa's head off. I think it's great. um
01:27:45
Speaker
I don't know why the assumption was that it would fare badly, because i think it's good. Yeah. i would i mean this I think this bad boy's a 7.
01:27:56
Speaker
I think it's a 7, too. I immediately thought 7. Yeah. Yeah. on ah On a good day, maybe an eight.
01:28:06
Speaker
But today, it's a seven. In the dome, an nine. ah Nine stars in the dome. Nine stars in the dome for a Divine Temper.
01:28:17
Speaker
ah Yeah, good. like ah just Just an elegant, pretty sword. all right yeah You said we could buy it on this website. I don't think this is for sale on this website. No, that that' specific crafting of it is not for sale.
01:28:36
Speaker
I guess you could commission it from the people who run that website. you know i got it You know I gotta look at the rest of the swords gallery on here. Oh, you know there's a handrail.
01:28:48
Speaker
Of course there is. Yes, of course there is. um I'd be disappointed if there wasn't. Yeah. Let's see. i assume these are all things that... Oh, there's one section that's swords for sale.
01:29:06
Speaker
Oh, okay. where Where's that at? ah None ready made it this time. Oh. Oh. Please inquire about commissioning your piece. Hey, Matt, I'll be real with you. Yeah?
01:29:17
Speaker
fucking love swords. I know, man. I know. Oh, there's a whole a category of master swords in here. Oh, I... I know. i'm on I'm on that page.
01:29:30
Speaker
Yeah. God, that's a good-looking Anduril.
01:29:34
Speaker
That's got the White Tree of Gondor on it. Dang. No, that's the Blade of Elendil. Yeah.
01:29:44
Speaker
All right. One last one ah for this episode, I think. One last submission. This is from Tim Pascoe. A lot of the Master Swords you can buy don't actually look like the Master Sword.
01:29:58
Speaker
Well, I think there is a degree of like, if you want it to be functional as a real sort, it maybe can't look like the one in the video game.
01:30:10
Speaker
but Maybe. Yeah. But they just look they just look a little bit off. Yeah. I think the proportions in the video game are probably not conducive to real sword swordmanship swordsmanship in swordplay. But that's just a guess. You know what I was thinking about while was playing Tears Kingdom, Matt?
01:30:34
Speaker
Hit me. Link is strong as hell. Yeah. Link can do a standing backflip while wearing plate mail. Yeah, man. He's a burly boy.
01:30:47
Speaker
He don't shiv. Yeah, even even though he looks like a twink, he's a burly boy. Hey, never underestimate Twinks. okay um This submission is from Tim Pascoe, which is an interesting one, um because I don't think either of us has played this video game.
01:31:09
Speaker
um But Tim submitted The Barrier Breaker from Claire Obscure ah Expedition 33. Yeah, I have not played it. um Tim says, due to it being a pretty recent game, I understand if you would like to table this submission for now, if you're interested in playing. I am interested in playing. That is a game I've heard a lot about. It is apparently getting so um a lot of nominations for Game of the Year.
01:31:35
Speaker
ah I am interested in playing that game. So I do wonder if we should wait until we have an opportunity to play Claire Obscure, Episode 33, before we rate the Barrier Breaker.
01:31:54
Speaker
Probably for the best. Although, you know what? I do like that name. Yeah, let's let's take a look at it at least. ah um I'm just going to search for it real quick.
01:32:09
Speaker
That thing's wild looking. That is wild looking. That's a sword? How would you hold that? that that That thing looks absolutely nuts.
01:32:22
Speaker
Vibes-wise, I love it. It's good, yeah. oh Okay, i I kind of see how you would hold it now. It's it's not all of that stuff coming down over the handle.
01:32:35
Speaker
ah In three dimensions, you could fit your hand in there. Yeah, you you got ah you got You gotta get in the guard on that one. Yeah. um Cool looking. I'll tell you that.
01:32:49
Speaker
Cool looking. the Vibes are strong yeah on that one. It is a Mayel.
01:32:59
Speaker
And it's base attacks, deals void damage, and scales with defense and agility.
01:33:07
Speaker
Damage scales with defense and agility? Yeah. breaking shield It breaks shields by attacking, ah but you will steal your opponent's shield. That's pretty cool.
01:33:19
Speaker
That's why it's called Barrier Breaker. That actually whips ass. yeah That does indeed kind of rock yeah pretty hard. ah But I do want to play Clare Obscure at some point. Yes, I think we will have to table this one ah with the promise of eventually returning.
01:33:38
Speaker
yeah The whole thing about Claire Obscure is like a bunch of developers from Ubisoft like just broke off and made their own game. right Isn't that the idea is that what it was? i have no idea.
01:33:52
Speaker
I believe that's what it is. like ah like A bunch of people who worked at you Ubisoft were like, well, we we can't do stuff we want to do in you know Assassin's Creed games.
01:34:09
Speaker
So we'll break off and make our own. And that's what we did. And that's what they did. So it was like professional AAA studio people making an indie game.
01:34:21
Speaker
Cool. Yeah. ah Yeah, I should see if that's like cheap. And if if it is, i'll i'll I'll buy it and play it.
01:34:34
Speaker
And we'll come back and rate that sword. But since we can't rate that one, let's do one more, Chris. Okay. This is from Robert Headley. ah It is Dracul Mihawk's big-ass sword Yoru from One Piece.
01:34:53
Speaker
Okay, I have not seen this sword in action because I really saw it out on my One Piece read. But I have seen, i think maybe I've seen him use it once.
01:35:04
Speaker
Matt, this sword's hilarious. it's I'm looking at it right now. It's so big and not in the direction you're thinking. it's This is too much.
01:35:16
Speaker
Is it too much or is it just enough, Matt? It's three times wider than the dude. and i'm Not the blade, just the the cross guard. Yeah, it's shaped like a cross, but Like the kind that Jesus was crucified on.
01:35:35
Speaker
yes But the blade is curved like a pirate cutlass.

Speaker
And it's huge. definitely It definitely looks like it's different sizes and different drawings. Oh yeah, much like the Dragon Slayer.
01:35:54
Speaker
i I would hate to to have to do this... I also feel like maybe we should table this one because I know that Mihawk becomes a ah more... like I've only seen him do like a couple of things, like a couple of scenes where he's shown up in what I've read.
01:36:14
Speaker
So I know he becomes more of a ah a concern in ah the book as it goes forward. But I will say, the vibes on this one are also great.
01:36:28
Speaker
It's so big. I mean, it very much in the vein of... I mean, you this one doesn't come in pieces, but very much in the vein of the Kurgan sword and that Advent Children's sword.
01:36:43
Speaker
this I feel like this sword falls into the category of great but stupid. Yeah, that's that's like the second best kind of sword. Matt, this motherfucker wields this thing one-handed.
01:36:56
Speaker
I do like that it's got that like kind of ebony ah colored blade. Yeah, the black blade is very cool. Black blade, i I do like that.
01:37:09
Speaker
i that is That is one way to get me, is to have a non-traditional colored blade. It's so big.
01:37:20
Speaker
Yeah. And the crossguard, if the Dragon Slayer had a crossguard... that was in like proportion to the rest of the blade, it would not be nearly this wide.
01:37:34
Speaker
Okay, so since we can't since we are not going to be rating that one ah
01:37:43
Speaker
for now, Robert did send a backup. Do you want to do the backup? ah If possible, yes. But if if it is another one we can't rank, then that's that's three, and we've got to retire.
01:37:54
Speaker
Okay, this is one that we can rate, but there is no extant imagery of it. Okay. So we can't put a picture in the sword sheet.
01:38:07
Speaker
Okay. The backup is from Robert is Myron, which is my talking sword friend. Our ongoing, currently on hiatus, Morkborg campaign.
01:38:25
Speaker
Matt, I mean, I think you'll agree with me when I say this. Myron sucks. Yeah, Myron sucks. but Myron myron like is an okay sword. um like Myron is somewhat effective as a sword, because he's like, a you know...
01:38:42
Speaker
Like a plus one short sword or whatever. Yeah, he's he's a magic sword in a low magic setting. So he's, you know, he's definitely got that. But he also, ah ca Casimir is not a good fighter.
01:38:57
Speaker
No, Casimir is not a good fighter. Like, i mean, I will say this. Like, Casimir has no skill yeah as a fighter. um And so it is like Myron who is doing most of the work for him.
01:39:11
Speaker
Yeah, I'm i'm not shit-talking, Matt, when I say these things. It is by design. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's all part of the game. Myron sucks on purpose, and ah Lord Casimir also sucks on purpose.
01:39:27
Speaker
Well, the thing about Myron is, like as a sword, he's not so bad. um As a sword, fine. As a sword, fine. Yeah. Yeah.
01:39:40
Speaker
as a But like the talking element of him... like so you but you You might want to compare Myron to ah Duck Newton's sword.
01:39:52
Speaker
right ah Beacon. well beacon But the thing about Beacon is that Beacon like encourages Duck Newton.
01:40:03
Speaker
Myron
01:40:06
Speaker
is unhelpful at every turn. Myron doesn't want to help. Myron doesn't want Casimir to pull him out and use him. And only reluctantly does so.
01:40:23
Speaker
um And complains about everything. yes So that's that's the difference. yeah Myron is is capable of performing the duties of a sword, but does not enjoy them.
01:40:34
Speaker
Yeah. I'd say Myron is a three through and through. Actually, know no. Because the singing sword is alive and does not serve the purpose of a sword.
01:40:47
Speaker
And that was a three. So i'm going to I will say Myron is a four. All right. I mean, what what better can make no argument against you, the creator of Myron.
01:41:01
Speaker
Well, go creator. Go creator, yeah. created Myron together. because because um Well, actually, like the fact that I have a talking sword was just like by random chance. Because I rolled for that.
01:41:15
Speaker
yeah All I got was a bag of teeth.
01:41:22
Speaker
um i think i I'm trying to remember if it was just a thing where like I just had an ancestral sword, and then we jointly decided that it talked. Yeah, because because L does the voice.
01:41:35
Speaker
Yeah, or if it if or if it talks on the roll. I really don't remember. But it's it's very funny because I have a talking sword and a talking horse. And they're both assholes.
01:41:46
Speaker
Well, the talking horse is different kind of asshole. Barbarister? Yeah. ah bar Barbarister, yeah. The talking horse is kind of like well-meaning, but also snobbish.
01:42:02
Speaker
Yeah, um notably, Barbarister the Talking Horse does not get along with my character. but There is intense enmity there. Yeah, yeah, but Barbarister likes Casimir.
01:42:17
Speaker
Yes. Myron hates Casimir. Yes. Like, I think Myron doesn't think that Casimir deserves him.
01:42:29
Speaker
um Because he was he is like a family heirloom. Role-playing games are fun. They are. Alright, we gotta be done. ah Thank you for everybody's submissions. Hopefully we'll play Claire Obscure and read more of One Piece and be able to catch up on those other submissions we we couldn't rate.

01:44:33
Speaker
And then there's a lady with a crossbow. Yeah. With like a sniper scope on it. yeah A fully modern bow hunting crossbow.
01:44:44
Speaker
Yeah. We will not be ranking that on this list, but I was looking up pictures of Magic Swords. so Well, there's the video game Magic Sword, which I've never played. I don't know if it's any good or not.
