think we'll come back to that conversation later what's that odd noise going it's very very odd
Character Introductions
00:00:34
Speaker
Hello everyone and welcome to this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop. We are a live play for the Adunu podcast set in the homebrew fucking world of Aerith. My name is Mark and I am the Dungeon Master. I've had a very strong coffee this afternoon. And also with us for today's episode, we've got Will who plays the human bard Karstan. We're going to escape from a prison.
Prison Escape Plans and Royal Intrigue
00:00:53
Speaker
We've got Darren who plays the human fighter Rogue Robin.
00:00:58
Speaker
yeah wow i i um i don't have anything sorry hello we've got uh casey who plays the human champion hell in a sleep guard hello everybody we've got danny who plays the human cleric claud it's time to prison break and we've got some fuckers in jail last week's episode we've also got calum who plays the gnome sorcerer folly fizzlebang the ninth
00:01:20
Speaker
went to a party in a Goldview jail. Your prison number is 6266181 and we also have Ian who plays the Dragonborn Barbarian Drago.
00:01:29
Speaker
what up and you're just six six six six six six six six on last week's episode of the fellowship at the tabletop we discovered that there was a two-headed orc then we discovered that there wasn't a two-headed orc but we didn't want to give it away because Claude seems to love this creature and would only look at it through the window and refuses to go into the pub we also followed along with Helena and Karstan as they went to the lodge and spoke to a Cassandra the owner and proprietor of the lodge where they figured out some key information about the family the royal family
Drago's Imprisonment and Folly's Predicament
00:01:58
Speaker
We saw them go off on the ship at the Royal Family, but one person either jump or get pushed off the boat and disappear. They were taken away, assuming that some member of the Royal Family, apart from Helena, might be in the city or might not be in the Heral Empire. We also followed along with Robin and Tali and Claude as they discovered and then undiscovered that this orc pub wasn't a thing. And then we dropped in briefly on
00:02:27
Speaker
Claude, no we didn't, we dropped him briefly on Drago and Folly, as they emerged victorious from their, well, journeys, out into the streets, saw two members of the Bikriskra, they didn't notice them, Drago went up, punched one on the face, they're now in jail. And... I mean, sure, when you put it as black and white as that, it might have been a stupid move, but you know, context is important. Absolutely.
00:02:57
Speaker
So that's where we currently find ourselves and we ended on Claude trying to send a sending message to Folly and it kind of bounced back as like a nonsense message, if you will. I used some very bad analogies and metaphors in the last episode.
00:03:14
Speaker
But it was like a non-sent message. It binged back pretty much. Claude then sent another message to Kastan saying something's up along the lines of something's up. Folly's in trouble. Kastan passed that on to Helena. And Helena ended on oh no. And we're going to pick up with you two just after your oh no.
Helena and Karstan's Search for Folly
00:03:34
Speaker
You've just learned that something's happened to Folly. You're walking towards the Double Ork Pub. Is there anything you and Kastan want to say, Helena?
00:03:42
Speaker
Do we know where they are, Karsten? No, all Claude said was that Folly's in trouble and... Sorry, have you been smoking something? What's going on? Where's your urgency? Sorry. I don't know. I just... Come on, we've got to go somewhere. Where's Folly? He's at the double-headed orc tavern.
00:04:13
Speaker
Right, well, how far away is that? Right, okay. Stop panicking. Stop. South, east, west, anywhere that there's a gap that should go through. Cast and we'll grab her by the elbow and drag her in the right direction. Thank you, that's what I needed.
00:04:32
Speaker
and you start making your way in the correct direction this time, kind of northeast towards the Double Ork pub. Again, the most misnamed pub in Goldview it seems so far. I nearly got that, I nearly got that.
00:04:46
Speaker
even nowhere near, you know it, we all know it. And you make your way along the roads, making your way there, passing by now some of these CRISPR checkpoints that have been set up that are designed to detect thoughts, reading into the populace and kind of crack down on any elements that might be either against the CRISPR's kind of position in the city, any royalist underpinnings supporting the royal family, despite the fact that no one knows about the royal family being missing, everyone knows about the royal family being missing. That seems to be the trait you seem to pick up at the moment.
00:05:16
Speaker
You make your way around the corner and you come to the double orc pub. And you can see outside as you approach from quite some distance, quite a lot of people around, but just outside, you see Tali kind of almost backward moonwalking away from the door and then walking around the back of it, followed by Robin turning around muttering something to himself, a smirk on his face, and he follows Ryan to the side of the building. You're too far away to really kind of shout over and you draw a lot of attention to yourself, but you have seen them make their way around the back
00:05:45
Speaker
of the building, what would you like to do?
City's Dangerous State and Sewer Plans
00:05:49
Speaker
Sorry, just quickly to Darren before the hand. Sorry, just to point out that Danny was only just sending that as Robin came back round the corner in the last episode. And he sent it to everyone as well, didn't he?
00:06:09
Speaker
No, so I sent it to you, Karsten, and said it aloud, so the problem would be here at the same moment. So you guys learned a bit at the same moment. Sorry. Yeah, I'm moving time around ever so slightly just to make this work, but yeah, pretty much that's, you've seen him, as you come around the corner, it's going to be a couple of seconds before he...
00:06:28
Speaker
Yeah, I see what you mean, Darren. I see what you mean. But for argument, for the dramatic part of it, now that bit happens. We've traveled, you've had that conversation now, and then you've looked and see Robin. That's pretty much where we are. You're across like a small square from the Double Ork pub. Come on, Helena, this way and Carsten will drag her around the corner, meet up with others. Right, said everyone. What's the plan? Oh, brilliant. So,
00:06:57
Speaker
I might have took Folly into quite a dangerous spot. And then Folly insisted that he go on alone. And I said, okay, if you go, but I'm going to check in hourly like a good mum does. And... And Claude, what do you mean dangerous? What's happened to Folly? So I'm just going to look up and down the entrance of this alleyway.
00:07:23
Speaker
So Princess, while you lived here there was a small operation of stock magic suppliers that were in the undercity and Folly wanted to find them so I showed them how to go get out where they might be and I said I'll check on you hourly. Can you please get to the point? I checked on him this hour and my message didn't get through so he's in some sort of
00:07:52
Speaker
problem trouble right yeah where was he last um i can take you there but everyone's very worried about me being seen well i'm sorry claud i'm more worried about folly at the moment because we don't know what's happened to him yeah i'm gonna miss a little guy i don't mind if we if we split again i don't mind if you'd rather stay together i understand no i feel most safest when we're here to be honest i think it's dangerous of splitting up i think
Group Trust and Strategy Debates
00:08:22
Speaker
The way things are going in this city, if we start getting picked off one by one and split off into separate storylines, things are just going to get chaotic. Yeah, I agree. There's just a lot of us that's all to be moving at the same space. I will take you to where I lost Saw Folly on one small condition. What? Robbie. Give Christ an hug.
00:08:50
Speaker
We don't have time for, you know... I mean, I'm happy to be hugged by Robin. I'll hug you. The last time you guys spoke, it was very angry at each other and I think we just need to accept that we've got each other's backs right now.
00:09:08
Speaker
We've talked since then. No, that's really not necessary. Only evidence.
Kriskra's Control and Sewer Navigation
00:09:13
Speaker
Shake hands, do a little, you know, secret handshake, something so I can show that, yeah, you definitely have each other's backs. Because I don't want to leave either of you in danger knowing that you might run away from the other one when they're in peril. Cast down hugs, Robin. All eyes on Robin.
00:09:37
Speaker
Robin's going to very awkwardly put his arms around Carson and just pat him. And then he's just going to immediately say now, now Claude, there is a realm follow me. No, no, no, no, no, no. There is a realm of possibility that probably might be ignoring you rather than no, no, no, no, no.
00:10:06
Speaker
We came to a gentleman's accord. I will just check in intermittently. If I didn't hear from him, I will come and find him. And he agreed to those terms. So I have reason to believe he's in his bottom-other. Plus, with the way that magic works, you know if your message has been received.
00:10:28
Speaker
Yep, and he hasn't. So he's either unconscious or dead, very far away, no longer fully, or something else has happened. Oh, do we have to be so pessimistic? In other news, everyone, the Christmas taking to all of the city, there are checkpoints, be careful, the royal family aren't here anymore, and things are getting really bad.
00:10:53
Speaker
I think we might need to expand on that at some point. Let's just get the one thing out the way before we introduce another. So this really isn't where I grew up anymore, is that right? No Claude, it's very different to what we're used to. And your family, are they okay? I don't know Claude, we just need to find out where Foley is and then we can have a big discussion with him. Yeah and then we'll find out.
00:11:19
Speaker
All we know, Folly, is that this would be a really bad city to piss off the people running it in. I mean, Claude, sorry. Yeah, I mean... We wouldn't want to start any fights in the street. If Folly's in trouble, I'm knocking down everyone in my way to get to him. Listen, as much as we hate the Ebercra, and God knows I...
00:11:46
Speaker
And Terriani knows I do not like the Obcrisco. I think we should stay on their right side as opposed to their wrong side, just for the sake of getting around the town. If the Obcrisco are running the city, it may be that they also have the city guards working for them. So you may have sleep guardians following instructions. And the last thing you want to do is start hurting your own people. OK.
00:12:16
Speaker
I'm going to make a little detour, but I promise it's for the right reasons, just to be honest. And then, Mark, I'm going to go to the half roof in and find Kennard, instead of leading him to the place where I lost Saul Foley. But I'm not going to make it on that I'm going towards Kennard, but I probably realise I'm heading in the wrong direction.
00:12:38
Speaker
Yeah, Robin probably wouldn't notice as he doesn't know his way around the city very well. Helen, it's probably been a while and you're busy in your own head, but Carson, yes, you're very aware in your high perception, you'd know that you're being taken the wrong way. Claude, this is, we're going back to Canada Place. What are you doing? I'm going to take this back to Canada Place. Right.
00:13:00
Speaker
I don't think... It sounds like we might not be able to travel on our surface very easily. Lord, you said you were going to take us to Folly. No, I really wanted to do that. I wanted to save the little man.
00:13:11
Speaker
But I think Kenard might be able to help us get there subterraneanly, if you know what I mean. I get what he's saying. I get what he's saying. You say you need to go underneath. Oh yeah, it is. Because you see, I know where I dropped off Folly and it was in the sewer. So I think Kenard's our best bet because I don't like being down there. I just think the quicker we do this, the better. That's why I thought Kenard, because I'm not known for my haste.
00:13:36
Speaker
Right, well then let's just get there, let's see Kennard, let's get underneath the city and get to volume. Yeah, yeah. And let's hope you're crisp or don't stop us on our way. I'm going to knock down anyone on our way. Right. The DM just smiled.
00:14:01
Speaker
And it managed to pass most of the blockades along the way. Most of the streets, these back alleys are now actually more packed than usual. Many people seem to be taking the same idea as you, Claude, in trying to avoid the main streets where possible for one reason or another.
00:14:15
Speaker
They rolled very low. Every journey you make, I roll a dice to see who you might come across, and then a perception of that group as an individual. There would have been a few members of the Chris Scott on the main road, but they rolled so low in terms of perception, they wouldn't have passed you at all. They're off alleyways away from you at all. You managed to make your way there without really coming across any one of importance. Most of the local populace don't notice either.
00:14:42
Speaker
Even as you're travelling in a group of five, you're relatively inconspicuous as a group of normal, boring-looking humans. You're none of the noted people that the wanted poster was looking for anyway. So any sleep guardians who might be wanting to dub you in, they don't notice anything of note.
00:15:01
Speaker
you make your way back to the half hoof inn, you make your way back to the half hoof inn, open the door up into the dark oak stained pub area, you see a calm canard behind the bar and it's quite quiet in there at the moment, one table with a few people sat around it but aside from that, no one else there, he looks more relaxed, he's leaning on the bar with a book in his hand, slowly
00:15:25
Speaker
thumbing the pages of what looks like a book as he slowly sips on an ale.
Half Hoof Inn Strategy and Secret Entrance
00:15:30
Speaker
He looks up through the smoke as the door opens and a smile reaches across his face again as he stands up and closes his book. I see you've gone back. You're looking for a place to crash for the night.
00:15:44
Speaker
Can we come and talk to you and I'm going to cast silence so none of the patrons can hear what's going on. So there's like a sound barrier between the tables and the countertop where the bar top where he is. Gotcha. Yeah. Yeah. So there's like there's no way anywhere you would pass through. Gotcha. Yeah, of course. Come over here, have a chat. Where are the others? My friend Folly seems to have gone missing in the region of
00:16:14
Speaker
the um where the stock magics uh hold out in the northeastern area of the city that i led him to we will struggle i think to move above ground is there any way you can help us navigate in the sewers to get there because that's where they're held out yeah i know of a few ways to get you into that area i think i know the holdout the entrance you're talking about but what are you intending on doing do you think he's
00:16:43
Speaker
been captured by, what, by stockies? He's a stockie, wouldn't he just walk freely in? I'm worried he might have been captured by something worse. Folly wouldn't have been caught by the stockies at all because he's very elusive, but there are people in this city what can overpower his magic, and I'm worried they might be involved. How do you know he's in danger? I have. I have a connection to my friends, Kenard, even you.
00:17:18
Speaker
Oh, that's the sendings thing you do, the sending. Dali mentioned it last time, where you put the message in your head, that thing. Right. And so what, that didn't work? No, he didn't even receive it, which means he's either in danger or in danger. Oh, he's dead.
00:17:38
Speaker
Yeah. But, you know, that's fine. I can fix that. It's just if they're torturing its poor toes. Things aren't going well in the city, Kennard. Things are getting worse. Yeah, Castan has learnt that it's a lot worse than we feared.
00:18:02
Speaker
Hi. Things are really picking up pace here. Yeah, we- They're really getting their trip into the city. We went and spoke with Cassandra. She was really helpful. Oh, good. Oh, good. I mean, to be honest, I don't care too much about this place. I'm only here for Jamis. And to be honest,
00:18:26
Speaker
Well, we'll talk about it later. Don't worry about it. It's not important. But listen, just thinking about this, you're not going to have much luck getting into a stock magic holdout. None of you are stockies and they've got a password. It changes quite recently, all the time actually, from what I hear. Again, I think if we get to his last known location and then we'll work from there,
00:18:52
Speaker
I don't think that it's the stock magics that have him because, you know, he blends in. They love him. Who doesn't love him? And then I think, oh, there are some people that don't love him and maybe they've captured him. Lord, could you ask your boss to tell us what's happened? My boss? You mean the master?
00:19:18
Speaker
Yeah, your boss. Cannot know and no one else in this pub can hear us. I'm not sure of that. You can always ask your boss if he follows with him because then we'd know whether he was dead or not. Yeah, I could.
00:19:34
Speaker
But I gave my only way of communicating to him efficiently to Drago before he went on his walk. So right now it would cost a very expensive spell slot to do that. And if I've got to heal the poor little Folly, or God forbid, one of you, I don't want to use that one right now.
00:19:57
Speaker
Speculating is only going to serve to waste time. We need to find where Ollie last was and get on his trail. With Robin, like, this is where Robin's in his element, you know, chasing panic. So help Robin and us. Wait, yeah, I'm, uh...
00:20:18
Speaker
I'm on it. Let's go. You want to go now? Yes. Yeah. Do you need anyone to watch your bar? I can find someone. My mate Tims is here. He could maybe fill in. Yeah. Go on. Get him if you want. You fucker. Now dig yourself out of this hole, Danny. Yeah. Get him if you want. Where can we find him? He was at the castle the last I saw him.
00:20:40
Speaker
I don't think me walking to the castle's a good idea. It's actually my only friends other than Mr Tim's, other horses out in the stables. Robin's just glancing at Helena to see if she's starting to share his impatience. Claudia, maybe we just let Kennard think about his pub himself and we hurry along. Yeah, yeah. Helena's chewing on her gums. She's that annoyed. If anyone's hurt fully I'll kill them.
00:21:10
Speaker
All right, and he's looking around. Fuck, I've only been here like a day. I don't know anyone really dead. Oh, shit. Ah, no, he's not here anymore. Tali leans in and go, I don't mind staying here and watching the bar for a bit. Two NPCs seems a bit excessive, don't you think? Because no more fucking Tali, really.
00:21:33
Speaker
I feel like... But there is the law in Goldview. What if Charlie just pretend she's a really small adult? And actually, and Charlie's going to pull out a large piece of paper. I picked this up from a local place on the way over here, actually. It says, the drinking age in Goldview is, yes, I would apply for that. But it doesn't say anything about being an owner or proprietor of a bar under age. So therefore, as long as I don't drink the liquor, I'm entitled to work here. So sayeth the law of Goldview.
00:22:03
Speaker
That was fucking sick. What are some of the other laws of Goldview? We don't have time for that, Karsten. You should know that by now. But one other thing, though, you will need to sign over complete ownership of the bar to me, Kenard, for this to work. That's like the law. That's what it says. Why am I fucking over my own NPC?
00:22:30
Speaker
Right, okay, fine, then he pulls out the deed, he happens to have that, he signs it over, Tali, there's a nice little signature, Tali, Iceland.
00:22:41
Speaker
Brilliant, yep, you can put your signature there as well then, Karsten. This is taking a bit of a turn. I can imagine Robin's eyes just boring into the party from behind. This is happening. Great, I'm now the owner and proprietor of the Half Hoof Inn. Kennard is now free to go and the DM only has to do one voice. Fantastic. I just want to ask you, Charlie, how are you comfortable with this? She gives you a knowing wink.
00:23:11
Speaker
Of course. You're quite young, you don't know how to manage a bar, an inn. And she leans in, she looks around a little bit and then leans in to you and goes, I know how to manage these pricks, I think I'll be all right. And Hannah will just give a slow nod and then she's going to back off.
00:23:32
Speaker
She gives a knowing nod as well and goes behind the bar and stands there, opens up Kennard's book and just starts pretending to read it and pretends to clean out a glass as she's seen people do in places around. Pouring pints, pouring pints for no fucking reason, putting them around, just having a great time, big smile on her face as you guys make, I'm assuming, making a move before Robin burns the police down.
00:23:55
Speaker
Just before we go, Robin's going to snap his fingers and Nira's going to appear on his shoulder and is going to fly into the far corner of the bar and just sit there
Sewer Journey and Folly's Trail
00:24:05
Speaker
almost ornamental-like and Robin's just going to say to Talia, if there's any problems, talk to the bird, I suppose. Okay, will do. But don't you worry, there'll be a drink in the house when you get back. No, on the house, that's what they say.
00:24:22
Speaker
She sits down on her stool, gets comfy, and shouts, you there, be quiet, to no one in particular, really. And is really enjoying her newfound role. Kennard leads the way out and goes, like, follow me. We're not going to have to make quite a distraction to get into the sewers like when he got you in here. But it's not as dramatic. But I can get you roughly to where you're talking about, Claude, if that's where you want to go. Yes, please. I'll tell you exactly where it is. And I will use the navigation that I've got.
00:24:52
Speaker
from the place where I don't know if I and the pretty much rough district of the city where it was to sort of help.
00:25:05
Speaker
He takes a moment or two to kind of work out in his head ever so slightly. He also shares an urchin background, so knows his way around the underbellies of cities quite well. Yeah, right, okay. Yep, I can get you near about, and then what will happen is you'll have to get out, go down, yeah, you go down another staircase, and then it'll end up pretty much where you need to be, okay? All right, let's get going. Is there anything else you guys wanna do before we go?
00:25:36
Speaker
Just to say, we're really fortunate to have met you, Kendrick.
00:25:41
Speaker
if I want to get my name right, and he turns around and starts making his way behind the back of the half hoof in, and behind the back there, he pulls up these two large wooden doors that are in the ground almost like cellar doors. They open up down to steps leading down. He then elbows one of the lower panels, and it's like a false wall, which opens up into another set of stairs going down to a ladder. The ladder takes you down to, you hit water. He just says quietly under his breath,
00:26:10
Speaker
I'm not the only one who uses these cello ways. So just keep your voices down and keep up. And then he turns and quite quickly makes his way darting left and right up and down through the sewer system. This takes probably about 30 minutes of time of him going, stopping every now and then he stops everyone.
00:26:31
Speaker
listens for any noises. Okay, keep up. And he takes you on again, leading in spits of darkness. There are shafts of light coming in from the city above every now and then. But apart from that, apart from the trickling sound of water, you're in kind of the used sewer system of Goldew. Suddenly you hit a second kind of drop.
00:26:49
Speaker
and you go down another level into a different style of sewer. This style of sewer has a kind of a sand-colored wall. They are larger, kind of more, almost Roman in architecture, but obviously not Roman because we're at D&D. They're a lot of the kind of large archways with a very thin amount of water, with small kind of...
00:27:06
Speaker
cats wandering up and down the alleyways and under the water as well, not under the water but in the water, licking the water and fighting the big rats that you see in the in the in the sewers as well. There are small waterfalls coming in from the side of bits of water that seem to be used in this now abandoned part of the sewer system. He takes you through this for quite some time.
00:27:29
Speaker
Finally, you reach one step, one final kind of ladders going up, back up to the surface. He stops and turns to you all in the darkness, in the quiet with the cold input of water on your feet. This is where I'm gonna leave you. You get up this ladder. It should be a back alley of some housings. Come out of there, take your first left.
00:27:56
Speaker
you'll see a large grate on the ground at the end of an alleyway. Yeah, I think that might be the one you were about. So when you get there, check, is it the same one? And then you should be where you need to be. Thank you. We owe you two debts now, my friends. Canard, just before you go, there is a pork currently sitting in the rafters of your tavern, if for whatever reason.
00:28:26
Speaker
you need to get hold of us. If there's any form of emergency, just tell Nura that that's the Hawk's name to find me. If you don't have any windows, you may need to let it out before it can do that. We'll leave the door to Ja. Don't worry about it. I've got a few errands to run. Dali seemed to be in an element back there, so I'll complete a few tasks in the city and then head back and check on it.
00:28:55
Speaker
I think you'll be fine, though. I'll keep an eye on her for you, Robin. Don't worry. I'm going to cast guidance on... I want to call him Kendrin, because that's my accepted name for him. Can I? Just to give him a thank you and something to spring his step. And I'm going to cast Locate Person on Folly. Okay. How far does that work? One thousand feet from... I'm going to wait till we get to the surface and I'll cast it there.
00:29:23
Speaker
If the creature is moving, you know the direction of its movement. Down. So south or... Is it going towards into the earth? And is it moving? Down from below our point, so like a direction from where we are. Is it directly under the earth from us? No, it's off to an angle.
00:29:50
Speaker
Okay, but it is a down and forward angle-ish point in the direction where I get that ping. It's quite a faint ping, so you can assume it's near the limits of your ping. Always in that exact direction. Okay. How long do you know he's there for?
00:30:16
Speaker
All I can say is that's where he is right now. Somewhere in that direction within 1,000 feet. Is he moving Mark or is he stationary? Let's go then I guess. Robin, this is the last place I have known Folly was. We are stood in it.
00:30:36
Speaker
Sorry, you're not there. Oh, you're not there yet. Sorry. So you've got to go up the ladder onto the street and then into the alleyway opposite. The alleyway opposite is where you absolutely twatted that gate, that grate off. It's missing as well now. And the staircase down that you left him. So you're stood outside that now. The sun is quite low in the sky, casting this amber and red light across the city. Not foreshadowing anything at all, obviously. I was going to say, I guess we're going to need to light some torches down there if it's going to be dark.
00:31:08
Speaker
Yes, that is where I left Folly. He went to go find the stock positions down there. Okay. Folly is currently down that way. That's what you're doing. Carson's going to go down if nobody else is. Before we descend, is there any sign of Folly on the surface?
00:31:39
Speaker
Give me an investigation check if you want. Holy Christ. With a minus one, it's still 18. There are no signs that... The only signs you can see on your approach are a set of human prints, deep in the mud, going in the opposite direction, so away from the entrance where you're stood outside.
00:32:05
Speaker
Robin while this is happening is just considering the type of people who may have been sat here for a while. He's going to look around for any street vendors, any urchins, anyone who looks like they may have set up camp here for a while who may have seen something.
00:32:20
Speaker
Yep, you see at the front area of the alleyway, because it's a dead-end alleyway that you've entered into. At the front end of it, you see a young boy sat on the corner begging. That could probably be your best guess as someone who might have seen any comings and goings. He might have been there for a while. You don't really know. Robin's going to immediately walk over to him, take two gold coins out of his coin purse. He's going to flick one out of the vad.
00:32:49
Speaker
and it's just going to hold up the other one and say, would you like the other one? A coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled coiled
00:33:11
Speaker
That's a good question. It's just, it's Jerry. Jerry, Jerry. Jerry with an A, Jerry. Sorry, Jerry. We are looking for a very distinct name with a very distinct backpack who may have been around this area. Have you seen anything of that sort? For the gold? Yes. For the gold.
00:33:36
Speaker
Yes, I saw, I saw, um, I saw a little known with a backpack and a big man with some armor. He was a surge and I saw them by the great. And then I saw another surge. She looked the same just now. Yes. I saw him go in.
00:33:54
Speaker
Are you talking about me? Oh, hello. Thank you for your service. Yeah, I saw you with the gnome. So this man was asking about a gnome, Mr. Serge. And so I mentioned you, you basically threw him in there, didn't you? Because again, after I walked away. What? Did you see the gnome again after I walked away?
00:34:18
Speaker
Uh, no, I saw you walk away and then I saw no one walk away. And then I saw the man with the blood on his face. He ran away. And then that was it. Hold on. Man with, man with his face. Details, details, details, Jerry. Details, Jerry. That's what they call me. Details, Jerry. Okay. No, um, blood. Sorry, Mr. Serge. What did you say?
00:34:47
Speaker
I had an actual 20 on my Insight check that I just asked if I could do. Oh, right. Yeah. He seems to be very nonchalant, but telling the truth from everything you can see so far and everything that is coming next as well, because I consider the Insight check will cover the whole conversation.
00:35:04
Speaker
Yeah, I saw after you went in and dropped off the gnome, and then you left, and then I saw two members of the very devout order of the chriscra go in, and then I saw one come out, and what's the best way of putting it?
00:35:24
Speaker
He looked like he'd seen a ghost and that he had defecated himself all at the same time and that there was blood on his face, like spatters of blood. And he didn't have his staff and he was running away. And the gnome never came back up? Nope, nope, no gnome. That almost rhymed.
00:35:47
Speaker
So Folly's still down there. Folly, is that his name? Yes, his name is Folly. And if you ever hear that name again or any of your friends hear it, there's another gold coin in there courtesy of my friend Ruben over here. Ruben and Folly sounds like a sitcom. What's a sitcom? If you ever hear that name again, just let us know.
00:36:16
Speaker
okay jerry as a final thing jerry this uh second coin hmm there you go oh blessings on you sir i can now buy me a palace well maybe start with a hot meal and uh go from there two gold hot damn i'm buying a house he's gonna sit back down and then instantly put on the same demeanor he had before oh please a coin sir please a coin sir
00:36:47
Speaker
Sorry, did you want something else? I'm a bit busy. Perhaps we should. I'm going to go down the hole. Yeah, go down the hole because it sounds like Foley may have got himself into trouble. Good luck. And you're going to make your way down into the sewer system. Get down there.
00:37:08
Speaker
It's kind of a continuation of the same kind of style of architecture you've seen previously, this kind of sandstone style brick, kind of tall archway of an old sewer system, long disbanded, long non-used, because the system is quite archaic. You've got, like I said, these small spikes of water taking mainly rainwater in now, and it only trickles in from areas of the city. It's about an inch or two thick.
00:37:29
Speaker
The alleyway takes you in and then the path splits one to the right and one straight ahead. Neither gives any inclination of anything in particular except that the alleyway to the right that you can see light far from the distance from like a torch. The alleyway straight ahead, there is no light. I think we should go to the torch. Yes. Sounds good to me. This alleyway snakes down.
00:37:59
Speaker
in a big large S shape before you end up in a room. This room has a high ceiling, like a high dome ceiling and white sandstone is across all these
Unethical Experiments and Dragon Control
00:38:10
Speaker
walls. But the most interesting fact of all is that this room is decimated.
00:38:55
Speaker
Are there like embers and that lot that we could show we could try and investigate how long this has happened?
00:39:01
Speaker
There's no embers because there's no fire. It never was a fire here. Yeah, so it's totally non-magical the damage that's taken place. So this is someone with like a martial weapon has just gone to town hitting this stuff, or a group of people have gone and just destroyed everything in here with clubs or axes or something along those lines. Robin immediately starts looking for signs of folly. Any clue? Okay, give me an investigation check, please.
00:39:30
Speaker
17 plus 10 27. As you look around the space you notice also three entrances off to the side and then also on the left quite far away you see another staircase up to another grate which seems to have sunlight coming in through it. You notice on the floor two very interesting sets of prints. Firstly you see the tiny feet which you can assume would might be that of a gnome
00:39:55
Speaker
You also see the large padded foot of what you know to be a dragonborn. You see the dragonborn prints literally everywhere. You see the gnome prints only take a couple of very specific groups. You also make out two human prints that seem to both make their way
00:40:10
Speaker
towards the Great. Well, sorry, one set of tracks makes their way to the Great, the other one stops quite violently on a corpse on the ground. You see the body of a member of the Epichryscra, hidden under bits of wood as you start to explore, of an old wisened man with Epichryscra clothing on, but he has literally been decimated through thousands of tiny cuts and scars and cuts across his body. His cloth, his armor, his
00:40:39
Speaker
Robe has been absolutely ripped to shreds and then it seems to the final blow with a roll like that Seems to have been something sharp across the neck cutting his arteries and he's bled out on the floor He is cold to the touch He seems to have been a dead for at least two or three hours at the very least but not long enough for rigor mortis to kick in
00:40:59
Speaker
Claude is going to just inspect the body of this deceased person who was described. And as I touch it, can I check to see if there's any sort of static feeling from it as though what might have slain it has left some sort of residue? Give me...
00:41:22
Speaker
Give me a, what do you want for that? What is this, a religious check? I'm purposely testing to see if Drago killed this person. And if it's Drago that, if it's Drago after a journey that I've asked, I expected him to go on. Give me a religion check then please. It's a natural 20 for 23. No.
00:41:52
Speaker
There is nothing religious about the mode, method, or person who caused this character's person to die. However, with a role that high, there is a buzz, a residual buzz in the air.
00:42:13
Speaker
of that, of some kind of presence of a Kiva, in some way, shape or form. Not enough to have been a Kiva, but possibly someone who is a follower of. Okay, with that information, I want to say, I think Folly was here.
00:42:36
Speaker
And I think Drago's walk ended here. It looks like... Sorry, did you say that the tracks lead out up towards the Great? There appears to be two direct tracks that go up to the Great. The tracks of the human, one track of human...
00:42:51
Speaker
go up towards the Great. The Dragonborn and the small feet of what you can assume might be a gnome's feet go in a couple of directions. The Dragonborn tracks are literally everywhere. The gnome tracks are very specific. They go down into the room towards this table which has been absolutely decimated and smashed and then it goes into another different archway off to the side that you haven't gone into yet and then comes back out and then towards the Great.
00:43:21
Speaker
Robin's already gone in the direction of those tracks. Okay, you reach the grate and as you come up the steps you open the grate up and you're in another part of the city. You're entering back into a small alleyway that leads to a different road. That's where you are. Are the rest of you going along? Are there any, going over to the table, is there any way of sort of searching or investigating to see if there's any evidence for anything that was on there or anything like that, anything that would say why
00:43:49
Speaker
following that like we're here. Yes, in and amongst the papers you have come across three letters that are of note. They spend a bit of time going through it but three that have been stacked up to the side and seem to have been more recently read than the others. This table from what you can discern and cast and literally only you at this point will be able to gather this information given the state of the room, given your perceptiveness, that this seems to have been a table of this man
00:44:15
Speaker
The man that is slain because there is a series of letters that he has been practicing, letters that aren't sent, letters that have been redacted or have been drafted and then not used. So it's been a table he's been practicing letters. And there are three letters that have been stacked up on the side that seems to have been read more recently. The resting tool being thrown around, destroyed with the rest of the room. The first letter, and it's all the same handwriting.
00:44:39
Speaker
Delmonde, I thank you for our first shipment of eggs and I am glad to hear they come from such great stock. Those that dwell upon the spine of the world really are the most intelligent and most athletic of their kind. Our operation, as previously stated, will be nondescript and discreet as your tender made clear. We will also be looking to introduce a potent ingredient into their diet to speed up the early fledgling years to increase our adult turnaround into a matter of months.
00:45:06
Speaker
Of course, this comes with risks, but given the urgency, it will be worth it. We have procured enough of the maturing material from, this next bit is scribbled out, the less honorable members of the stock magic circles, that bit has been crossed out and replaced with, a trustworthy and equitable source from Moonrise.
00:45:27
Speaker
The shipments have been cleared as Mashisu Rum through Green Barrel's ports and will continue to arrive throughout the coming months and distributed to all centers that require it. Storage will not be an issue. Green Barrel has given over space and our nursery for fledglings has ample room also. I will continue to feed back all necessary information regarding the Mashisu question and its tender." And that's where that letter ends.
00:45:52
Speaker
The second letter that's underneath the stacked one two three and you'll read them in order cast and The second letter it seems to be in a personal letter that is unfinished dearest Selena
00:46:04
Speaker
This course is folly. The fledglings continue to die. These conditions, underground, dark, cold, cramp, are not the environmental factors that these creatures should be living under. No wonder so many are limp, undersized, and losing their minds. Our most recent trialiche bashed his own head into the wall until he bled to death, used his own body to block the door, stopping us from administering a sedative. Yet more eggs arrive and more attempts made.
00:46:32
Speaker
I shouldn't be writing this, I shouldn't be telling you. Yet there is so much I must share, this tender to raise them from fledglings into full adults under the complete control of their handlers seems so at odds with their very nature. I worry, my love, I worry for the balance of order within the mind of these beasts. There is yet so much we do not know about them, and yet we are attempting to control their minds, know their very souls.
00:46:59
Speaker
If the, and the letter seems to have been unfinished, there's nothing else written there. This next letter is most definitely an early draft because the majority of this letter has been crossed out. This obviously has not been used, but you read it anyway, because the title is so intriguing. To Delmon Trace, leader and enforcer of the triumvirate and supreme head of the Abcriskra and all their holy works.
00:47:25
Speaker
It is with a heavy heart that I must tender unto you my resignation from post in center eight gold view. In haste and all respect, followed Jones. That's the redacted version. If you read under the scribbles, you also read. The experience and reward that this tender asked for does indeed make me an ideal candidate, but I can no longer bear to see these creatures subjected to such barbarous acts of control and mental slavery. Those that survive are put
00:47:53
Speaker
through the most horrific internal controls to bring their naturally chaotic minds into line with that of the order. This is beyond natural. With my thanks and humble resignation, I also wish to pass on a warning.
00:48:07
Speaker
This will not end well. They are untameable. Their current passivity, willingness, and perceived docility will in time be seen as a shroud. Their intelligence is not to be trifled with. Their memory long. Their vengeance swift. The flame of a dragon has a memory that outlasts mortal time. Our actions will have implications. Those implications, I fear, will be cataclysmic.
00:48:33
Speaker
In haste, in all respect, Follon Jones." So there are three letters usually stacked up that seem to have been more recently read or kind of put to the side in and amongst this chaos within the room. Kastan will turn to look at Helena. These letters, something about eggs from the Spire of the World and then this Follon Jones suggests that they're trying to, something about dragons. Delmond is trying to
00:49:01
Speaker
raise dragons for his own purpose. Where do you think that would be? Well, according to the letters, it suggests that they're being grown underground and trying to be made quickly. Where's Robin gone? I'm not sure. You've watched him go over to the grate and stick his head out, but you haven't necessarily left yet. Robin, it's up to you. Sorry, I didn't know whether I could see him yet. I didn't know that he'd gone.
00:49:30
Speaker
As soon as Robin saw Claude came in with the fact that the Dragonborn tracks were likely to be Drago, Robin went to the Great and he's probably outside looking for any further evidence of the direction of travel. Okay, could you give me before that continues inside, could you give me a quick investigation check please, Robin? Yeah, 19.
00:49:54
Speaker
You see the tracks go off onto the main street, but even with the 19, the amount of people passing to and fro from here, you have no idea. The tracks have been stood on so many times since then. There's literally hundreds of people walking up and down this quite busy street, members of the Krisker you see passing by. This is a major street within the city. The tracks hit that main road and kind of arc off towards the right, giving you the feeling they might have gone to the right. After that, nothing.
00:50:22
Speaker
Robin will immediately glance around to see, as he's done before, if there's any sign of a vendor, market's still all urchin, who may have looked like they've been here for a while. There are two members of the abcisca quite close by that seem to have put up a couple of chairs nearby and are looking over this junction of the area. Aside from that, there are no vendors around here and there's no one really
00:50:48
Speaker
staying put, there seems to be more of a through-passing route that no one seems to be settling. Do the old Christopher seem to have given Robin any attention or heed? Nope, none whatsoever. The two engrossed in their own conversation and they seem to be laughing. OK, Robin is going to. He's going to just position himself against a wall where he can look directly at the grate that he's just come through.
00:51:16
Speaker
And it's just going to take out the copper wire for message. And as soon as he sees one of his companions start to emerge near the grate, he's just going to tell them to be careful and that they're a frisk nearby. OK, thank you very much. Heading back down into the sewer system we have there, Kast and Helena, Claude. I'm assuming, Kast, you have told the others what just happened. Yeah, I was perhaps reading it out loud and then going,
00:51:45
Speaker
This is all about the raising of dragons. This followed Jones though. Who's he? Maybe that guy? I think it's that guy. I think whoever he was, he was working for or working with Delmonde.
Dragonborn Theories and Dragon Skeleton
00:52:01
Speaker
I mean, it's just like Delmonde. I mean, he didn't towards the end. Well, no, I think he perhaps didn't or lost sight of or lost faith in whatever they were doing. They're trying to hatch dragons and raise them quickly.
00:52:16
Speaker
I mean, maybe the dragons would be really useful against the Blight, but it doesn't really... And what if they can't fight against anything? I mean, they might have fire, but surely you need an army, you don't need monsters. Well, dragons aren't necessarily monsters. They say the great legends suggest that dragons are incredibly intelligent creatures and perhaps far more older in advance than we are, Your Majesty.
00:52:45
Speaker
According to the tales, anyway. I understand. I can't say that I fought against them, nor have I fought with them, so... I have a question. This is one I've always wanted to ask. Is Trago's mum and dad a dragon? I know that. I'm sure that's... I don't know. Complicated questions. Could be. I mean... Why do you ask? There are lots of theories about the origins of Dragonborn.
00:53:14
Speaker
Yes, and he's dragonborn, meaning he was born by dragons. Well, I read a very nice trustees on this and someone suggested that perhaps and the theory was that perhaps they took dragon eggs and someone cast spells on them to make human like dragons and that's how Dragonboard started. Others say that dragons who became human form then did it with humans and then
00:53:42
Speaker
Dragonborns were created, and there are lots of other theories. This person didn't have many answers, just lots of questions. Dragon's mum and dad could be a dragon, could be a human, could be human magic, could be a dragon and human form, or any of the above. Yeah. Could you all make perception checks, please? OK. Ooh. Ooh.
00:54:13
Speaker
It's a 24 for Claude. It's a 15 for Helen. It's a 26 for me.
00:54:22
Speaker
All three of you hear a very distinct creak of a metal grate or a metal door. This doesn't come from the way Robin has gone. It doesn't come from the way you have come. This comes from the entranceway of the feats of one of the passageways you haven't explored yet in this large room. Castan, did you hear that? Yeah. Well, I did too. And then did you hear that? Where's Robin gone?
00:54:55
Speaker
Was it Robin? Or was it a dragon? Can I inch over to where we heard the sound?
00:55:02
Speaker
Yeah, so as you make your way into, through kind of now, it just turns into more rocky terrain, not rocky terrain, a pathway, but it's more kind of rock and cave feel more than the architecture you've seen previously. The passageway breaks into three different ways, straight ahead of you into a small five foot kind of corridor down to a door, which seems shut, and then two passageways, one to your right, one to your left. The noise came from your right. It seemed to have come down this way.
00:55:33
Speaker
I'm not going to say hello. Hello! Claude, I'm going to pull this down. You hear this echo. Hello, hello, hello. Up. Hello, I'm going to continue to walk down to the right.
00:55:47
Speaker
You take the right turn and as you walk further up, you do notice another kind of small passageway, a five foot corridor almost towards another locked iron door. But again, you knew the noise came from further up. You continue to walk up and you see a final passageway on the, kind of the passageway stops and goes right or left to the right. You look back and you can see back into the room you came from, but just from a higher angle or the destruction and decimation of all the woodwork in there. You see a door to the left.
00:56:15
Speaker
a passageway, sorry, to the left, and an open door. The other doors have been shut. This door is open. It's a metal door. And you suddenly get this really intense smell and really intense warmth start to come from this room. What would you like to do? You're still not at the other room yet, but you can just feel it down the corridor. I think Helena's not going to pay attention to anything else. She's just going to walk. What is the smell? The smell is that of burning.
00:56:45
Speaker
Yep, that's folly, all right, let's go. Helen, sorry, Helen is gonna walk towards the door anyway. You make your way into the door, to the door, the door that then also creaks as you get close, knowing that that was the door that you were getting the creek from. And you enter into a 30 foot by 30 foot room, no doors, aside from that one, no windows, stone floor, stone ceiling, stone walls, it's probably about 20 foot in height, and the walls just made from the same stone material.
00:57:15
Speaker
Within the room you see a sight which takes you all back. It is the almost complete skeleton of an adult dragon sat perfectly in almost a sleeping curled up position with its teeth missing.
00:57:34
Speaker
Oh my goodness. The wings are both cracked and look undersized really. It looks so much, the wings are really much smaller than the red, almost like, not Spyro, that under, this is a huge, huge figure taking up the majority of the room, but these wings seem almost shriveled and small in comparison. And it seems to have kind of curled up, almost like a cat would curl up to relax. You also, though, get this intense feeling of heat from within the room as well. How big is the room?
00:58:04
Speaker
30 feet by 30 feet, and this creature pretty much dominates most of the room. So you can get about five feet into the room, and this thing really takes up most of the rest of the room. This must be what the letters were talking about, the fact that they're growing dragons underground, and it doesn't go very well. Well, I can't imagine so. So much space needed for a dragon to grow, to develop, and underground is definitely not the right space for them, the right environment.
00:58:35
Speaker
Is this all, dear Chris Chris doing, do you think? Well, the letter to... I can't imagine anyone has touched with them. The letter to Delmon would suggest that Delmon knows about it and is the one orchestrating it. How would you get a dragon under a sea? Well, you've hatched the egg down here. Well, you can eat an egg. Yes. And I'm just going to walk up to the dragon and just touch the face of the dragon.
00:59:05
Speaker
The skeleton. Literally, sorry to interrupt you there, but as you would do it, probably in quite a ceremonial, kind of polite, reverend way, you have to pull your hand away because it is that hot. The bone is that hot that you have to pull your hand away. I think this has been burnt very recently or killed or something's happened here. How?
00:59:26
Speaker
Yeah, how recently did this thing die? Well, it's fucking hot. Could I do a medicine check, Justin? How long it's been dead, Mark? Yeah. Twenty-three. Fuck me. You have been rolling so well. I didn't have to roll that high on that wall.
00:59:46
Speaker
Your knowledge of dragon biology is very, very limited. But you know basic biology. And you know something that's been under this kind of duress, this temperature, even a dragon. It's been a matter of hours. Since it died, I can speak with dead on it then, please. And I'm going to reanimate it so everyone can hear. Holy shit.
01:00:14
Speaker
This is when the drive-thru talks in Draconic. It speaks in a language I reckon I... Hold on. The corpse knows only what it knew in life, including the languages it knew, and to the usually brief cryptic or repetitive, and the corpse is under no compulsion to answer truthfully. Thank you. This is another Eric, I appreciate it, isn't it?
01:00:40
Speaker
Yes, but I'm not gonna do this one for fun. I'm doing this to figure out what the fuck happened. No, okay. So I cast this on it and I'm gonna awaken the skull up again.
01:00:50
Speaker
and you see this shimmer of energy pass through its entire body, almost each of the vertebra of its spine, kind of coming to life, the tail whips around for a second before returning background. The wings and arms don't move, but the head just creaks towards you slightly as the sockets of the face look, the head kind of shifts towards you. This whole skull probably being the size of you, Claude, as it twists slowly to look at you. And I'm just going to say in three different languages, common, infernal, and abyssal,
01:01:22
Speaker
We want to help. What did this to you? And it just very quietly. The little one. The little one was a dragon, or more like me, pointing and then making gestures to skin and limbs.
01:01:51
Speaker
you and not you why were you harmed can i sorry can i just ask which language is responding in of the three i listed comment okay cool why were you harmed not harmed set free you feel freedom now yes
01:02:20
Speaker
if I was to save you from this death could you escape and be free? I am free to bring me back would mean I would hunt you down for all time I see we're looking for our friends
01:02:51
Speaker
potentially the ones that slain you he has much anger in his soul but he will not harm his own kind this will be his downfall is this the small one that looks like me or the small one that looks like you this is my brother
01:03:21
Speaker
my kin i will let you rest if you would tell me your name discraft and with that the body shudders again and the head rests back down that's discraft d i s apostrophe k r a t h okay and i'll just look around to these two and see if they have any more questions before i let this guy rest sorry yeah
01:03:49
Speaker
Eleanor will shake her head. Class, I'll shake his head. And I will just say, in a firm, at least you don't understand it, hopefully. And I will say, I will make sure your body is shepherded to a place of eternal rest. Thank you.
01:04:10
Speaker
be at peace and I will let go of the thing that's keeping him in communication and I will cast a gentle repose on him so that he cannot turn undead and then I do like a ritual to sort of send him off sort of thing.
01:04:28
Speaker
Lovely. Thank you. And as that's all taking place, I believe there's probably a moment of quiet and of solace as you kind of work through the elements of the process of your religious activities for this dragonborn.
Drago and Folly's Imprisonment
01:04:44
Speaker
As the camera pans back and out, passing Robin, looking tentatively at the members of the abciscara and then back to the greats, it passes through the streets and then suddenly deep underground, passing through alleyway and sewer and then through more spaces and spaces and into abject darkness and total silence. Save a very
01:05:14
Speaker
high-pitched but very quiet kind of which seems to emanate from all around. Drago, folly, you open your eyes and then you have to stretch your eyes open wider because you cannot see because of the darkness. You feel around and feel nothing but hard stone and you cannot see because of the darkness.
01:05:44
Speaker
All you can hear is the sound of your own breathing. And this slight... This seems to kind of come out of the walls and from the ceiling and from the ground below. Folly, we'll open just with you quickly. Is there anything you want to do or say at this time? Oh, it's... Oh. Darkness. Hello.
01:06:10
Speaker
Hello, is anybody there? Folly, is that you? Yes, Drago. Where are you? I don't know. I thought that I was in an Akiva rift. I'm guessing we're not... Akiva, are you around? Is this another one of your trials? Silence.
01:06:35
Speaker
It doesn't like him. I think we'll come back to that conversation later. What that odd noise going... It's very, very odd. I don't know. Just as an aside, I'm guessing with sound of mind right now.
01:06:49
Speaker
Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, sorry, of course. Yeah, you're back within your own senses. You're in control of your own faculties now. Yeah. Okay, cool. So just to give a clue into where Drago's head has been, as soon as he got put under dominate shun or dominate person and brought down into the darkness, he, as I just said, would have been thinking he was back under some sort of trial, not entirely sure which time he's in or place or space.
01:07:14
Speaker
So because of that, his rage has dissipated into more of a choir confusion and not a sense of peace or calm, but there's definitely not the burning rage that calls him to try and fuck up two members of the Ecrusca in a bad way. Folly, I'm sorry. I got us into this. Don't be draggy.
01:07:43
Speaker
I'm trying to do better. That was very ungodly of me. And I should know better. Jhaga, sometimes your passion can get away from you, but not always necessarily a bad thing. Normally in any other circumstances that would be a good thing, but just bad timing today.
01:08:06
Speaker
As Folly's talking to Drago, Drago's going to send part of his mind down his body to see if he can feel the weight of his weapons or if everything got taken off him. You've got your weapons. Do I have my own fucking staff? You have indeed. You've got everything you had above the, well, wherever you were previously. And Drago would try to stand up? Yep. You can stand up and even reaching up, you can't reach the ceiling.
01:08:32
Speaker
My hands aren't binded or anything. There's no bindings. You are completely within control of your own faculties. Holy shit. Folly, if you've got your weapons with you, I've still got all of my gear. Yes, I've still got mine, but I don't think I'll be of much help here. Well, there might be a door or something. And Drago starts to put both hands out and just try and feel his way.
01:08:59
Speaker
through the darkness could you give me an investigation check with disadvantage please as you are technically unable to see well i don't have to do it at disadvantage because no no wait that was not a one that was a seven oh thank god ah that's a shame nine
01:09:27
Speaker
and as you make your way round you feel smooth polished stone in one almost continuous piece there doesn't seem to be a single rift as you feel up and down almost going round and round this room multiple times doesn't take you long it's not a very large room as you pace it out it's probably six or seven paces by four or five paces in direction it seems to be a rectangle in shape and
01:09:53
Speaker
As you make your way around, there seems to be zero rifts or little gaps to give way for a door or any kind of entrance at all. Folly, do you know where we are? No, no, I'm afraid I don't, but I believe we could possibly just be like a room of magic.
Magical Prison Theories and Communication Attempts
01:10:15
Speaker
Who took us down here again? What's that group's name? It's on the edge of my mind. It's infuriating, I can't remember properly. Upkriska. Right, and where do you think they would have taken us? I remember hearing certain things. I believe I heard them say, spell hold? The sound of a grid and splashing of water?
01:10:39
Speaker
Okay, yeah, I remember when we came down here, there was some water, someone spoke some words. Hang on. And Drago breathes deep and he closes his eyes. It was Magickaria Menti. Someone spoke that. Yes. It's quite interesting, but I can only theorise that the stock magic location that we were at,
01:11:08
Speaker
when you decided to kill the first set of Upriska. It's quite possible that we know the Magikarium and the Upriska are working together. I wonder if the stock magic locations doubles up as a prison almost. This is very high level magic. I can't see anything in here. Normally I can see very well in the dark. Well, did you say this place was called
01:11:33
Speaker
Well, I didn't say exactly what place but I will the stock magic location. I was trying to get to sometimes This cell that we found ourselves in do you said this had this name had a place this place had a name Don't spell hold spell holder. Okay, cool. Give me a moment and Jago is gonna reach for the amulet that Claude gave him and
01:11:57
Speaker
And once his hand finds it, his fingers grasp around it. Drago closes his eyes.
01:12:06
Speaker
Akiva, if you're listening, can you get word to Claude if he's indeed around on this plane? Um, me and Folly are in a place called Spellhold. We were taken by the, uh, Kriska. Uh, can you get word to our friends somehow? I don't even know if this works.
01:12:37
Speaker
You hear a buzzing, a familiar and almost fraternal buzzing that you seem to now come to appreciate and enjoy.
01:12:51
Speaker
But it comes on quicker and more violently than previous experiences. The amulet burns hot, as in hot to touch. You have to release it and kind of let it hang from your wrist, from your waist almost, sorry, from your neck, away from your body for a second. It's that hot and you hear a voice in your head, quiet at first, become louder and louder. Your rage will be the death of you, Drago.
01:13:15
Speaker
You were supposed to have learned to control it in the trials. Yet again you find yourself in a position where you need help from others. I will not help you. You must help yourself. Consider your message sent but I am not a messenger and do not treat me as such.
01:13:46
Speaker
And with that, the amulet goes cold, the buzzing stops, just returns again. Drugger opens his eyes and obviously can't see anything, but if Folly could see him, there'd be a tinge of red in his cheeks and the shuffle's uncomfortably. I've done what I think I can. Ikiva will send along a message.
01:14:16
Speaker
of sorts to Claude, so they'll know that we're down here. I think Claude's on this plane. Yes, I don't believe we've changed the plane of existence. We could possibly be under a couple of magical spells. I do know of a couple that would easily be able to recreate this kind of effect. What is that noise? Where's that noise coming from? Can I try and follow the sound of the noise at the very least, just to see if I can
01:14:45
Speaker
find something in that general location yeah absolutely give me um investigation or arcana it's up to you or history oh 20 not natural it seems to come evenly from every single wall so all four of the walls you find yourself around the ceiling and also the floor there doesn't seem to be one discernible point where it kind of originates from it seems to come separately from all sides ceiling and floor
01:15:15
Speaker
Okay, just as an experiment, Folly's more likely going to be pointing up at this point, but he's just going to cast Firebolt straight up, just to see what actually happened. Only you would be able to see this as obviously, well, you can't really see it anyway, but you point the staff up as you normally would for your cantrip. Nothing happens.
01:15:39
Speaker
Literally nothing happens, there's not a spark, there's not a light, there's no iconic impulse that flows through your normal sorcery and veins. Nothing happens. Okay, let me put it this way, Drago. I believe we're in some form of prison that at the very least gives us some kind of magical darkness so we can't see, and has some kind of magical nulling field surrounding it as well. So my magic is worse than useless right now.
01:16:09
Speaker
That's not good news. No, no. How about an old-fashioned just shout? In all fairness, you could try it. I was hoping for a bit of brute force. I can't find any door or anything. I mean, I can try kicking the wall, but something tells me that won't work. Now, the rest of this is magical. If they've possibly got any kind of magical walls erected as well, then yes, it would prove to be completely useless.
01:16:39
Speaker
Hello, Mr. Jago graces his voice. It's not even an echo. It just, it's kind of dead space. Imagine you're in kind of like a recording studio room where there's just kind of a thick foam on all walls. It just kind of sucks all the sound out of your voice and doesn't seem to travel outside of your location, as far as you're aware. I really appreciate the acoustics of this room. Be good for a podcast. If only all podcasts could have such good acoustics.
01:17:10
Speaker
Folly, do you want me to try running at the wall? I mean, it just sounds even stupid, like an older me is trying to make that suggestion. Well, it all finished. Yes, I'd say you could try. I mean, we've not exactly got, well, nothing I can do here, I'm afraid. And unless these things seem to be weak to a piece of wood, which I very much doubt. I wouldn't even know where I begin running. I can't see.
01:17:39
Speaker
Well, I do believe it's quite a small room, so I just pick a direction and go. Right. Fair enough. For lack of a better idea. And Drago turns 180 and sprints and leans forward with a shoulder and closes his eyes.
01:17:59
Speaker
Again, no point, but you can't see, but it's for the winks of the damage that's coming. Good, because I accidentally said strength check like five times when you were talking. Give us a strength check, please, Drago. Oh, my Lord. Ten.
01:18:14
Speaker
Your shoulder thuds into the wall. Your head knocks it a little bit as well. It's hard stone, polished stone. It doesn't budge an instant. You just hear a wet slap as your skin hits up against the polished stone. I think we've had enough dragons and dragonborns running out of roles for the time being. Yes, I suppose so.
01:18:44
Speaker
What do the walls feel like, Drago? Like walls falling. White, cold, stone. Why? There, I'm just questioning myself on my so-called analysis. How do you blow it up so far? I seem to think that you're a blower upper. Am I right? Did I dream that?
01:19:11
Speaker
There is one possibility. Let me just let me check my books to see if I've got anything. Folly's idea at the moment is to try and possibly make a stock magic potion. Oh, description that might be able to create a small gap in
01:19:35
Speaker
the wall basically now he has to try and make this potion blind brilliant yeah he knows his set quite well
01:19:47
Speaker
He's got plenty of time.
Claude's Collapse and Uncertain Future
01:19:49
Speaker
He does, and there's all the time in the bloody world. Yes, as you're very slowly getting things out of your rucksack, and again, this takes you so much time because you have to make sure you're getting the right stuff out, checking the smell to make sure each vial you get out is correct. It's going to take you quite some time and drag you to see this tinkering, this noise of clattering bits and pieces.
01:20:07
Speaker
as things get brought out and put back in and clatterings as it all kind of takes place. It's going to take you quite some time and I need to figure out what kind of fucking checks to put you under a folly for that potion to take place and how we're going to make that work. But just to pass on, we leave the darkness and almost glaringly we enter back into the sun and through down into a great and into a room
01:20:31
Speaker
with the large corpse of a dragon, the skeleton of a dragon with Claude, are you laying out, going through the stages of your kind of almost ablutions towards this, towards the ablutions, your steps of religious rights towards this dragon's soul and to its very purpose moving forward. And just as you finish up and you stand up and you turn to the other two or assume you've been waiting quietly, you look up at them and your eyes feel heavy all of a sudden and a
01:21:00
Speaker
ringing and then a really, really intense buzzing enters into your head. It hits you, almost like a ton of bricks hits you. So much so that you get this burning sensation in your chest and you start frothing at the mouth. Your eyes roll back in your head and you just hear two phrases uttered from a known voice that you recognize. You hear the word spell hold, magicarium menti.
01:21:25
Speaker
and then you pass out. Your body hits the ground near the dragon and you are KO'd for the count. The other two looking on in just no fucking idea what's just happened. Oh bugger. And there's your body with no bugger as your body hits the ground. That's why we're going to leave it for this week's episode of the Fellowship of the Tabletop. Thank you very much for taking a bugger. Oh, great bugger. Oh, haven't you blown up every single time you've tried to make a potion so far?
01:21:53
Speaker
