Introduction and Dedication
00:00:06
Speaker
Hello everyone and welcome to the Preacher Dad Podcast. My name is Jared and today we have a very unique and special episode for you. We are of course going to honor Mr. Charlie Kirk and along with you i have been deeply moved and
00:00:32
Speaker
Honestly, a little overwhelmed by the events of this week.
Family's Grief and Kirk's Influence
00:00:37
Speaker
The assassination of Charlie Kirk has affected me in a very deep and profound way.
00:00:44
Speaker
My entire family is grieving for his loss because he was a truly unique and special person. And I don't even know for sure all that I might say that others have not said, but I believe that Maybe some of you needed to hear what I have to say.
00:01:06
Speaker
You know, this podcast and much of the things that I do
00:01:14
Speaker
It wasn't inspired by Charlie Kirk, but Charlie was what I hoped this could become. And he was saying the things that I would want to say. And I listened to him regularly.
00:01:32
Speaker
And when I would hear him make an argument from the scriptures for a particular position that I held and I adopted...
00:01:43
Speaker
something that I believed in and he articulated it so perfectly or so well at least and used the scripture to back it up and was not apologizing for being a Christian
00:01:57
Speaker
Well, that was an inspiring thing to me. it was something that I wanted to emulate. And it just, it, it excited me because he was saying the things that I would say.
00:02:12
Speaker
Well, he was saying them a lot better than I would say them. But the content of what he was sharing was solidly biblical. And i appreciated so much his heart for the Lord and his unapoly unapologetic excitement about the things of the scriptures.
Kirk's Christian Beliefs and Impact
00:02:34
Speaker
And that is part of what made him so special, is that he was an evangelical Christian, in addition to being a giant of a conservative thinker.
00:02:48
Speaker
And yes, he was very young, but more than that, I think that God was anointing him. I think that Charlie was anointed by the Holy Spirit to communicate the truth in the way that he did.
00:03:03
Speaker
He was an incredibly remarkable person. And he will be deeply missed.
00:03:12
Speaker
He had an incredible, incredible ability to get to the heart of the matter and bring it back to scripture and yet do it all with a compassionate and kindness that was just remarkable.
00:03:28
Speaker
I don't need to tell you about him. I just want you to know what he meant to me.
00:03:34
Speaker
You know, here on the Preacher Dad podcast, we're trying to inspire and equip Christians in the West to engage in the culture war and make a difference for Christ unto the next generation.
00:03:51
Speaker
And in many ways, that's what Charlie was doing too. And his organization, Turning Point USA, really has done that in our society. And I applaud them for it.
00:04:04
Speaker
And I'm so glad that they're going to continue doing it.
Reflections on Kirk's Murder and Legacy
00:04:09
Speaker
You know, Charlie was killed for exercising his free speech. He wasn't just just for that. he was He was killed because he was very good at it.
00:04:21
Speaker
He was very effective in persuading people to the truth. And I hope that he will continue to do that, even though he has gone on to be with Jesus.
00:04:33
Speaker
You know, there's some scriptures that I want to share with you um that I think are appropriate to what we are experiencing in the last few days.
00:04:48
Speaker
John chapter 15, verse 18 says, If the world hate you, you know that it hated me before it hated you.
00:04:59
Speaker
If ye were of the world, the world would love you as its own. But because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
00:05:12
Speaker
Remember the word that I said to you, a servant is not greater than his master. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
00:05:25
Speaker
But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.
00:05:34
Speaker
Charlie Kirk identified with Christ and was passionate about the truth and about Jesus. And I think that's why many people hated him and hate him today.
Critique of Celebrations and Ideologies
00:05:45
Speaker
I cannot properly express the disgust and horrific anger that I feel when I see people celebrating his murder and rejoicing over his assassination.
00:06:00
Speaker
I can't really express it because I would probably say some words that I really should not say and would be embarrassed of later. But it makes me incredibly angry to see the way people are treating him.
00:06:13
Speaker
They are hating him.
00:06:16
Speaker
The amount of hate on the left is overwhelming. And yet Jesus says a servant is not greater than his master. Jesus says, if you were of the world, the world would love you as its own, but because you are not of the world.
00:06:32
Speaker
But I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. And I believe that Charlie was following his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. that He was not of the world.
00:06:45
Speaker
He was in the world. He was influencing the world. He was persuading the world. But he was not of the world, and therefore the world hated him. Brothers and sisters, we should not be surprised when things like that happen, when hate comes against us. This was shocking. It was horrific.
00:07:02
Speaker
But we shouldn't be surprised by the hate that the world has for the believer. We're not better than Jesus. Jesus was absolutely perfect and completely innocent. I know that I am not perfect, and I know that Charlie Kirk wasn't either.
00:07:17
Speaker
And yet, the servant is not greater than his master. If our master received that kind of hatred, we should not be surprised by it.
00:07:28
Speaker
And I'm not one of these that says, kumbaya, we should all come together. I'm one of these that says, we need to defeat this demonic ideology. This is a, the left is directly from hell.
00:07:42
Speaker
And the things that they teach and admonish and celebrate is absolutely from the pit. And we should not seek to join and link arms with demons and say, well, we'll all get along today and we'll fight tomorrow.
00:07:54
Speaker
No, you're going to be defeated. The left will be defeated. And I hope and pray that those leftists that are celebrating hatefully that the murder of Charlie Kirk widowing his wife and or and and removing his influence or at least his his presence from his two beautiful children.
00:08:19
Speaker
To celebrate that is disgusting. But I hope that those people will come to Jesus.
Forgiveness and Divine Justice
00:08:25
Speaker
And I think that Charlie, if he could talk to us, I think that he would say, we need to forgive.
00:08:31
Speaker
And I think that he would say, we need to pray that they will come to Jesus because they definitely need him. And friends, there, but for the grace of God, go every single one of us.
00:08:43
Speaker
And we should pray for their redemption. As we fight back. That doesn't mean we roll over and give in. It just means that we pray for their salvation and we let the Lord handle vengeance.
00:08:57
Speaker
He says, I will repay. Vengeance is mine. I will repay, saith the Lord. Let the Lord handle vengeance. That's not our job. But let Charlie's death inspire us to fight all the harder and all the stronger against the forces of darkness and the the wickedness of our time.
00:09:19
Speaker
This is not a time to sit on the sidelines. This is a time to say, put me in, coach. What can I do? Let me play. Let's get in the battle. We can't sit on the sidelines and watch.
00:09:31
Speaker
We need to grab a gun and we need to go to fighting. Now, I'm not advocating physical violence of any kind. I do not believe that that is what we ought to do. And I do not believe that would honor Charlie's memory.
00:09:45
Speaker
But it's also an unbiblical way to handle it. it's it's It's okay to grab the gun and defend yourself if someone is pointing a gun at you. But in our society, the fight of ideas and ideology is not one that is... you You can't win the victory through bullets and guns.
00:10:05
Speaker
You win the victory through your ideas, through the persuasion of your logic, and through the proclamation of the truth. It's Jesus that is the answer and it's his word that brings us to the truth.
00:10:19
Speaker
We need to remember these things when our emotions say, I want every one of those people locked up in a jail and throw away the key.
00:10:32
Speaker
But we have to forgive.
00:10:35
Speaker
We have to forgive. We're commanded to forgive.
00:10:41
Speaker
And then after we've forgiven them, we need to defeat their ideas and tear down the strongholds of lies that they have entrenched within our society.
00:10:56
Speaker
I want to read another verse to you. It's from John 16. Jesus says again, then later on this chapter, he says,
00:11:05
Speaker
they will put you out of the synagogues indeed the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to god and they will do these things because they have not known the father nor me
00:11:23
Speaker
and then later on in this chapter he says
00:11:35
Speaker
Behold, the hour is coming. Indeed, it has come when you will be scattered each to his own home and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone for the father is with me.
Comfort in Faith and God's Sovereignty
00:11:44
Speaker
I have said these things to you that in me, you may have peace in the world. You will have tribulation, but take heart.
00:11:53
Speaker
I have overcome the world. You see, friends in this world, we have tribulation and the evil one comes against us. And yet the Lord Jesus has overcome the world.
00:12:08
Speaker
There is no way for them to beat him or his plans. And you know something that gives me a great deal of comfort is knowing that Jesus is still on the throne. And even in these difficult days of grief and sorrow, our hope does not lie in any one man.
00:12:30
Speaker
They can take a man out, but the truth remains that Jesus remains. And I think that Charlie Kirk would say that it is not the the success of our ideas and the prospering of our society and our nation is not depend upon Charlie alone.
00:12:50
Speaker
It depends upon Jesus. And it depends upon Jesus in all of us. Jesus Christ is the Lord and King. And he is the one that is doing great and mighty things in the earth.
00:13:06
Speaker
And so we need to remember that when we are struck with incredible grief at the loss of a good man, a man who was righteous and sought God and was a good husband and a good father, to be gunned down like that no matter what he believed in, that is wrong.
00:13:26
Speaker
And in those moments, it's important for us to remember that God's plans and God's sovereignty is bigger than one person. And we need to trust in him that he has good intended for us, even in the midst of these sorrows.
00:13:43
Speaker
You know, there's a part of Psalm 42 that says, Why art thou downcast, O my soul, and why so disquieted within me?
Conclusion and Eternal Hope
00:13:56
Speaker
Hope thou in God, for I will yet praise him.
00:14:02
Speaker
The help of my countenance and my God.
00:14:07
Speaker
That is just so in encouraging to me and I hope to you as well. Because it is basically saying to us that while this is hardship, this is hard times, there is turmoil in the world.
00:14:22
Speaker
We should still have hope in God for we shall yet praise him. We shall yet be able to give him glory. It says in the last verse of Psalm 42, for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.
00:14:38
Speaker
I will get to do it again. Even though this is a hard moment, we shall yet praise the Lord. And that is an encouraging thing to remind us all of the truth.
00:14:54
Speaker
I hope these verses have encouraged you as much as they have encouraged me to maintain and hold on and stay the course and hold the faith. This is the reason that Christians don't go burning businesses down and rioting in the streets when our leaders, our examples are gunned down in cold blood or martyred before our eyes.
00:15:22
Speaker
We still might be angry, and there's still going to be a reckoning, an ideological reckoning coming.
00:15:33
Speaker
But at the end of the day, vengeance is mine. I will repay, says the Lord.
00:15:39
Speaker
And tell your soul to hope in God, for we shall yet be able to praise him, for he is not yet off the throne. I don't care who they kill or what they do.
00:15:52
Speaker
He is not off the throne. Be encouraged, my brothers, my sisters. And we will look forward to more encouraging words with you next time on the Preacher Dad podcast.
