Grind and Grace: Season 2 Finale

Today, we're talking about faith, family and growing through the various seasons of life. As we embark upon milestones, that's such a good time to reflect on life and lessons, which is why I sat down with my special guest this week who is none other than my mom, Shirley Franklin. She is turning 60 in December, and is currently celebrating her 60 day countdown to 60. In fact, we're kicking off the countdown right now with vacation in Jamaica. But before our departure, I had the opportunity to chat with her about growing and glowing over these almost 60 years. Shirley Franklin is a Motivator, Mentor, Minister, Manager and Mom. Faith, Family, Friends, and Self-care are some of the things that mean the most to her and we dig into that in this episode

During this episode, Shirley also shared on:

 * How she juggled work, life and family over the years.
 * One thing she had to unlearn.
 * Things she doing less of, and things she's doing more of.
 * How faith has played a role in her life and journey.
 * Advice for moms, who have young children and advice for moms who have adult children.
 * Life lessons that have impacted her the most.
 * Navigating grief and adjusting to life without her husband.
 * Her perspective on getting older.
 * And much more...

Faith, Family and Growth with Shirley Franklin

Taking care of ourselves before we take care of others is so important, which is why today's episode is all about self-care. It's far more than a buzz word. It's essential to our well being, growth and and more. My guest this week is self care consultant and creative direct, Candice Denise. Candice’s own self care journey + wellness experiences, knowledge, personal revelations and struggles as an entrepreneur, coupled with her desire to empower other women eventually led her to create CD Creative Loft.  Now, she works with high achieving female leaders, founders, entrepreneurs and organizations, around the country, teaching them how to prioritize themselves daily, remove self-care from their to do lists, and work past the “guilt and selfish” stigmas often associated with self care. Candice teaches her clients how to easily infuse simple self care practices & routines into their busy day to day schedules to support their overall success, and maintain a lifestyle centered around putting their well-being, first.

During this episode, Candice shared:

 * How she personally defines self-care
 * Tips for prioritizing self-care daily, even on busy days
 * Navigating self-care routines or practices during challenging seasons
 * Tips for morning and evening self care practice
 * What led to her becoming a self care consultant
 * And much more

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by your to do list, or like there's not enough hours in the day? If you answered yes, this episode is for you! However, that doesn't mean we have to stay there. With the strategies shared in this episode, you can begin to combat overwhelm when it rears its ugly head.

In this episode, I share the exact strategies I use to minimize and ditch overwhelm, and discuss the following:

 * how our environment plays a factor in our mindset
 * when modifying a to-do list makes sense
 * the 2 things you need to close when you're overwhelmed
 * a place to store ideas when you're busy
 * honoring our capacity
 * top things to do and not do when you're overwhelmed
 * and much more

Juggling Life, Family and Business - Part 2

Today’s episode was inspired by a question I received from a member of the glow getter gang a few months ago...“how do you balance everything”. I took the time in this solo episode to begin answering that question. As a woman, mom, wife, full-time employee and owner of 2 businesses, I've been juggling life, family and business for a decade now. I have experienced both wins and challenges during that time, so I hope my wins encourage you and my lessons lend advice to steer you away from pitfalls that can come with wearing multiple hats.

During this episode, I share transparently about my journey, what has worked, what hasn't worked and everything in between. I also share some helpful tips. One important takeaway is juggling life, family and business can look different from one season of life to the next, and even week to week. In the episode, I also address:

 * balance vs. juggle
 * how to assess what should be on your plate
 * the importance of knowing when to say yes or no
 * how to schedule and plan - and some great tools and practices surrounding this
 * the role of your mindset
 * and much more

I have so much to share on this topic that I will be coming back with a part 2. I'm so passionate about helping other glow getters and mom navigate their personal and professional lives, so I really hope you get something out of this episode.
