She thought she’d lost her edge for good—especially her humor. In this painfully real, lightly hilarious moment, the hidden truth hits: after kids, your personality doesn’t always bounce back fast… and realizing it can take years is both validating and a little maddening.

2.5 Years Later, Mom Brain Finally Lifts

This week, apparently everybody has an ailment.

Felicia wakes up with vertigo for the first time in her life and immediately begins investigating everything from her upper cervical spine to the hair-washing bowl at the salon. Natalie, meanwhile, is finally admitting that maybe — just maybe — she’s stressed, as she navigates adrenal exhaustion, heart palpitations, family health issues, mold exposure, and the emotional toll of trying to help someone you love when you don’t have all the answers.

Then it’s time for Felicia’s long-awaited Function Health bloodwork, and the results are… humbling. Her blood volume may be coming back after her hemorrhage, but her ferritin reserves have barely budged, recovery is still rough, and she’s officially graduated from “dollar store blood” to requesting the bougie, top-shelf iron.

We’re talking ferritin doping, blood transfusion conspiracies, mold and Lyme rabbit holes, COPD, nervous-system stress, post-exertional crashes, pelvic floor PT, Gene loving school, the future mold-detection dog, and the realization that sometimes “feeling better” and actually being recovered are two very different things.

Basically: 10% valuable information, 80% gossip, 20% vibes. The math doesn’t math, but neither do we.

S2. Ep19 - Top Shelf Iron, Bottom Shelf Adrenals

Felicia and Natalie are back with another episode that somehow goes from vacation chaos to HYROX training to a terrifying healthcare story in record time.

Natalie recaps her trip to Utah, including a visit to Ballerina Farm, altitude-induced digestive adventures, a wedding, and the unfortunate realization that food poisoning does not care how nice your vacation is. Back home, the girls talk about being completely maxed out at work, Natalie casually puts out a podcast-wide help wanted ad for a chiropractor, and Felicia reveals that she and Dan officially signed up for HYROX—which means the training, fundraising, wall balls, and questionable financial decisions have officially begun.

They also catch up on Felicia’s recovery, getting back into exercise, postpartum brain fog finally lifting, and the latest additions to the basement wellness compound.

Then things take a much more serious turn with the story of a friend whose ectopic pregnancy progressed into severe internal bleeding, emergency surgery, blood transfusions, and the loss of a fallopian tube. The girls unpack the series of events that led up to it, the questions it raised for them about follow-up care, and why advocating for yourself when something feels seriously wrong matters.

Basically: Ballerina Farm, bodily fluids, basement saunas, HYROX, motherhood, and healthcare chaos. Just another normal episode of Functionally Feral.

S2. Ep18. - Food Poisoning, HYROX, & Healthcare Horrors

We’re back from summer break — and apparently, while we were gone, Functionally Feral went international?! We open Season 2, Episode 17 with the slightly terrifying realization that people in Vietnam, Brazil, Australia, and beyond have been listening to us overshare on the internet. Love that for us.

Then it’s straight back into the usual chaos: Natalie has four Roombas and somehow still needs a vacuum, Wilma is officially starting her mold-detection-dog era, and we may or may not have committed ourselves to doing HYROX in Chicago on Valentine’s Day weekend.

Felicia recaps her first weekend away without Giuseppe, including a truly unhinged experience at the W Hotel, while Natalie shares why unlimited Netflix got banned at her house and DVDs have officially made their comeback. We talk toddler bottles, screen-time detoxes, Christmas music in August, and Gene’s very first week of preschool.

Then we get into the health updates. Natalie’s mold is officially undetectable, her Lyme numbers are way down, and she shares what she’s been doing with her naturopath and bioenergetic testing. Felicia gives an update on her parents’ homeopathic journeys, why healing doesn’t always look pretty at first, and some pretty wild results she’s seeing after taking an ICPA Tonal chiropractic course.

Plus: low blood pressure, Oura thinking every walk is a hike, and a pretty big life update that Felicia is saving for next episode.

Basically, we took the summer off and came back with a LOT to discuss. Welcome back to Functionally Feral.

S2. Ep17 - The Summer We Went Viral - The Feral Girls are BACK

This week starts off exactly how you'd expect from us—Natalie introduces everyone to Wilma, the newest (and sassiest) member of the family, Gene celebrates his fourth birthday, and a surprise birthday decoration goes hilariously wrong.

Then everything changes.

What began as a normal birthday quickly turned into one of the scariest days our family has ever experienced when Natalie's dad suddenly developed subtle neurological symptoms that were initially dismissed. We walk through the entire experience—from the first signs that something wasn't right, to navigating multiple ER visits, advocating for additional testing, and the emotional roller coaster of watching a loved one suffer a stroke.

This episode is funny, heartbreaking, and incredibly important. We discuss the warning signs of stroke that aren't always obvious, why trusting your instincts matters, what happened after the initial diagnosis, and how standard hospital protocols can sometimes create unexpected challenges.

Whether you're here for the life updates, the laughs, or the deeper conversations about health advocacy, this is an episode you won't want to miss.

As always, this podcast is for educational and entertainment purposes only and is not medical advice.

S2.Ep16 - Birthday Tears and a Week Long Hospital Stay

In this episode of Functionally Feral, we cover everything from estate sale treasures and zebra hide rugs to the realities of running a chiropractic practice, hiring staff, and building strong community connections.

Natalie shares a hilarious estate sale adventure, while Felicia talks about hosting her son's first group ride and accidentally turning a homeopathy kit into a marketing strategy.

Then we wrap up the story we began in our last episode. Felicia shares what happened after her emergency D&C, the shocking pathology findings that finally explained why her miscarriage became a life-threatening medical emergency, and how discovering some missing information changed everything she thought she knew about her recovery and future fertility timeline.

It's an episode full of laughter, friendship, practice-life stories, and an honest conversation about healing, resilience, and finding unexpected gifts in difficult seasons.

S2.Ep15 - Felicia's Story Pt.3 - The Missing Pieces

This week starts with hilarious toddler updates and ends with one of the most vulnerable conversations we've ever had.

Natalie shares stories about Gene's latest adventures—including his obsession with chatting up strangers, demanding answers from store managers, and making sure everyone compliments his curls. Felicia gives an update on Sepp's newest passion: Strider biking, a possible trip to the Strider World Championships, and the realization that she may have accidentally become a sports mom.

Then we shift into a deeply personal conversation as Felicia shares the reality of discovering a nonviable pregnancy and the emotional limbo that followed. We talk about the difficult decisions surrounding miscarriage management, the uncertainty of waiting for a natural miscarriage, and what it was like continuing daily life while carrying a pregnancy that was no longer progressing.

As always, this episode is simply one woman's story and experience—not medical advice—but we hope that sharing it helps anyone who may be walking a similar road feel a little less alone.

S2.Ep14 - Felicia's Story Pt.2- Complications and Aftermath of Pregnancy Loss

After an unexpected break, we're finally back with a life update episode—and a lot has happened.

Natalie shares a major update on her mold, Lyme, and Bartonella healing journey, including surprising improvements, new treatment protocols, and the clues that suggest these health challenges may have been present for much longer than she realized. We also talk about a relaxing adults-only trip to the Dominican Republic, why Natalie is somehow getting a fourth dog, and Kyle's newest adventure: training a mold-detection dog.

Meanwhile, Felicia recaps a beach vacation with a toddler who apparently no longer believes in sleep, a daring "coma cave" escape, and the realities of traveling with young kids.

This episode is full of the real-life moments you've come to expect from us—health updates, parenting stories, marriage wins, puppy talk, and plenty of chaos.

Please note: In the second half of this episode, we discuss pregnancy loss. If that topic is difficult for you right now, feel free to skip that portion of the conversation.

S2.Ep13 - Puppies & (heartbreaking) Plot-Twists- Felicia's Story Pt.1

After an accidental (but very necessary) spring break, we’re BACK—and catching you up on everything that went down while life was life-ing hard.

In this episode, we dive into:
✨ First trimester chaos: low blood pressure episodes, crawling up stairs, and the very real possibility of twins
✨ The most unhinged egg salad saga (feat. questionable pantry choices and Ruffles???)
✨ Natalie’s deep dive into mold, biotoxins, Lyme, parasites—and the wild protocol that’s already shifting things
✨ Why “doing everything right” still sometimes gets you nowhere (and what finally moved the needle)
✨ Supplements that sound fake but are somehow working
✨ The unexpected connection between illness, nervous system stress, and weight that won’t budge
✨ Potty training in one day (yes, really)
✨ The fever → developmental leap pipeline that nobody talks about
✨ Why toddlers will humble you instantly and also randomly become independent overnight

It’s motherhood. It’s healing. It’s crunchy. It’s chaotic. It’s slightly conspiratorial.
And honestly… we’re just trying to keep up.

S2.Ep12 - Twins? Mold/Lyme? And a One Day Potty Training Miracle

Episode 11 is a full-blown life update with all the chaos, comedy, and plot twists you’d expect from us. We recap how weird it was to podcast in person, the brutal transition back into real life, chaotic travel days, nervous-system dysregulation, windy weather madness, St. Patrick’s Day plans, reptile show drama, and toddler interruptions galore. But the real headline of this episode is the big surprise: Felicia found out she’s pregnant while Natalie was still in town. We get into the full story of the positive test, Dan’s reaction, Natalie’s fairy-godmother pregnancy energy, and why this pregnancy already feels so different. We also talk potty training, public bathroom struggles, tiny toddler accidents, and why sharing pregnancy news early felt right this time around. It’s funny, heartfelt, completely unfiltered, and yes — the twin theories are already in full force.

S2.Ep11 - A Very +POSITIVE+ Episode

Episode 10 is a very special in-person episode, which means it’s part podcast, part girls trip recap, part absolute chaos. We talk delayed flights, airport suffering, burgers, sushi, Whole Foods magic, shopping till we dropped, collagen face masks, whipped cream coffee foam, and the fact that we are still pretending this was a legitimate business trip. Basically, two feral besties in the same house trying to record before one of us has to catch a flight and go straight back to real life.

S2.Ep10 - We Finally Podcasted In Person!

Felicia Devine (@drfeliciadevine) · Zencastr

Felicia Devine (@drfeliciadevine)

Functionally Feral is for women building businesses and raising babies- without losing their minds, their values, or their edge. Hosted by best friends Dr. Felicia and Dr. Natalie, both entrepreneurs and moms, this show dives into what it really looks like to lead at home and in business- with strategy, wellness, and a touch of rebellion. We talk about the tension and beauty of doing both well: Building successful, sustainable businesses and raising kids who are curious, conscious, and a little anti-authority.
