Teen Hero Awards Siena Castellon - Neurodiversity & The Spectrum Girl's Survival Guide
Teen Hero Awards Siena Castellon - Neurodiversity & The Spectrum Girl's Survival Guide

What is Neurodiversity? How can one 'survive' school? Do we need Neurodiversity in the workplace? What are the barriers to promoting Neurodiversity? How can we change the world?

In this episode of the Thoughty Auti Podcast, Thomas talks to the multi-award winning public speaker, the author of 'The Spectrum Girl's Survival Guide',  and creator of the Neurodiversity Celebration Week... the one and only, Siena Castellon

They kick off the episode talking about how Siena first started out with public speaking, going from an audience of 3 at a local event, to an audience of 3 MILLION at the Teen Hero Awards! She tells us all the scary and exciting stories of these very grand occasions, and both Thomas and Siena bond over their love for the alternative artist Lana Del Ray... who just happened to send Siena a personal video.

Getting down to the nitty gritty of school life for an autistic, Siena shares her experiences with toxic teachers, bullies and discriminatory individuals she was unfortunate to come across... all in her journey to find a suitable school. Through her terrifying school experiences she defied all the expectations of her hateful teachers and took the exams early, achieving multiple A*'s

Looking for guidance, Siena saw a gap in the information available for autistic students, and sought to create the Quantum Leap Mentoring website... which she eventually turned into the amazing book 'The Spectrum Girl's Survival Guide: How To Grow Up Awesome And Autistic'.
