Introduction and Special Episode Announcement

00:00:01
Speaker
Every club. Every day. The Global Sports Podcast Network. work Hello and welcome to the Daily Arsenal Podcast, brought to you as part of the Global Sports Podcast Network. It's Christmas Eve, we've made it all the way to Christmas Eve, still as a tight old unit. And so we thought we'd bring you something a little bit different, a little bit special, which starts off with a fun little Daily Arsenal Christmas quiz. Now I'll be entirely honest with you lads, the questions are in no way Christmas themed whatsoever.
00:00:36
Speaker
in any way, shape or form. um They are a mix of retro and modern. So Matt, don't worry too much because I know the modern is your primary level of knowledge. We'll all, you should be able to get most of them. So we're going to start off this Daily Arsenal quiz with question number one to

Co-host Introductions

00:00:55
Speaker
you. Oh, by the way, I'm Josh Vince. I'm joined by Matt, Jamie Patterson and Craig Matthews. They're all great, by the way. We'll get chatting to them more after we've done this quiz section but we're gonna ah I write quizzes for a living so like ah I can't not just jump straight in. This was right this was right along your street mate. Right up it maybe. So question number one.

Ian Wright's Record and Trivia

00:01:15
Speaker
When Ian Wright broke the goal scoring record with his 179th goal what did his t-shirt underneath his kit say? Was it? I did it.
00:01:26
Speaker
come and get it, just do it, or never stop. What do we think boys? What do we think? Three. Number three from, that was quick there. Yeah, do you know what? I read my mind, I was actually thinking three as well. All right, we're all agreed on three. The answer is...
00:01:47
Speaker
Three, just do it. And for those who can't see, a I couldn't find a tick animation, so Mikel Arteta looking quote unquote happy is our tick. His face popping up makes the answer is the tick that we're looking for. Next question, you've blazed through that easily enough. Number two, who was in goal when we won the FA Cup in 2017? Was it David Ospina, Emi Martinez, Petter Cech, or Esmond Cole?
00:02:13
Speaker
thinking for here He is a remarkable goalkeeper. I feel like Esmond's hiding something from us. I really feel like he's hiding something from us. Craig's going one. Do you agree with that Matt and Jamie? David Ospina Craig reckons. It's between It's between one and three. Could be four but I think one or three. I think Esmond would have bragged about that a little bit more. I might have to ask him on the next pod, like, you you're hiding something, where's your winner's medal? like We need to see something, mate.
00:02:54
Speaker
um Yeah, I'm gonna go one. I'm gonna go one as well, because I feel like a lot of the Czech talk was when like sabotaging not being in goal to win an f FA Cup, so.
00:03:06
Speaker
You were right to do that. Craig was right at the back. It is David Ospina. He was in goal when we won the FA Cup. He was the second choice for Czech that year. So he played the cup competition when Czech played in the prem and everything else. Question number three.

Arsenal's Historic Matches and Captains

00:03:20
Speaker
what Who was the last team we played at Highbury in 2006? Was it Birmingham City? Aston Villa?
00:03:31
Speaker
Wigan Athletic or Tottenham Hotspur? My gut's telling me three. yeah say something saying like can definite sp free you' You're all very confident on three, are you sure? Yeah, 100%. Well, yeah, you're right to be. You're absolutely bang on the money. It was Wigan Athletic, it was the last team we played at Highbury, and we won, which was a delight. Thierry Henry got two that day. Next up, question four. Which legend capped in the side to three titles over three decades?
00:04:00
Speaker
Was it Patrick Vieira, Tony Adams, Frank McLinktock, or Jamie Patterson? that day Number two. Number two. Number two. Number four, come on now. as I'm going four. Jamie has a youthful face, but over three decades he's done some work. Guys, don't but but make it obvious, guys. the talk is a secret
00:04:30
Speaker
Um, probably would go for two Tony Adams. Two's the one you'd expect it to be, but o I'm just going to join the bandwagon.
00:04:46
Speaker
but You're all jumping on bandwagons, the Craig setting, and you're all right. Here's again, Tony Adams, yes. This is a queen's cleave suite for you guys so far. I need to make these next ones harder.

FA Cup Wins and Patrick Vieira's Legacy

00:04:55
Speaker
Number five, how many FA cups at Arsenal? Then a winner's manager at Arsenal. Was it three, five, seven, or nine?
00:05:05
Speaker
I'm going. I'm going three. ah been five oh Oh, it's split. Someone's going to pull ahead. So nots Matt says five, Craig says three, and Jamie says seven. The person, I mean, i mean oh number three. yeah so Matt is saying five, and Jamie and Craig are saying seven. The answer Jamie Craig, you were right, it's seven match. You've dropped the point there. I've stopped bandwagoning. I i couldn't ah couldn't keep it up as bitter in United States. I appreciate you up in the stakes there. butally Number six, in 2005, who won Arsenal the FA Cup with their last ever kick for the club? Was it Patrick Vieira, Ashley Cole, Robert Perez or Freddie Lindbergh? Number one.
00:05:59
Speaker
Number one, Patrick Vieira says Craig. I was thinking for between Vieira and Cole, I probably... I can say it was a penalty.
00:06:13
Speaker
I've got to say, whatever Craig says I'm going with to the audience. Craig does seem to have a deep historical knowledge here. He really does. um Yeah, I'm gonna go Vieira. Vieira is the right answer. Just follow Craig, everybody. Like, if you need to know Arsenal facts, hit Craig Matthews up. He has them all and it has completely invalidated 20 minutes of my time making this quiz. He's too good. Question number seven. Which of these players captained Arsenal at the youngest age? Was it Saka, Adams, Erdogan or Fabregas?
00:06:54
Speaker
Who captained Arsenal at the youngest age? Go on, Matt, what were you thinking? I feel like it's Cesc, but I might be completely wrong there. Cesc was very young. I feel like, because I don't think it's Saka, because I feel like it would have been said he's the youngest ever player to captain Arsenal, which I don't think is the case. Could be wrong, obviously. I don't think it's Erdegaard's and Adam's, I mean, it could be. I went in life, so sure. I think it's in 2-1-4. Obviously, I'm going to go number four, Fabregas. Fabregas? Yeah. My guy originally was going to say Fabregas because I was debating over Fabregas and Saka. But yeah, like, like Matt said, if it was, you know, it would have made, they would have made a big scene of it on social media. So yeah, I'm going Fabregas. And Matt?
00:07:45
Speaker
Matt has gone quiet briefly, but that's fine. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I thought you were going to say like, and that is. Oh, no.
00:07:58
Speaker
You've all followed Craig for number four. You're all wrong. It was ah Tony Adams. He was 21 years. four He was 21 years and two months old. Fabregas was 21 years and six months old. It was very close, but Adams just clinches it. Next up, question number eight.

Mesut Özil and Club Controversies

00:08:20
Speaker
Which Arsenal player offered to pay the Gunasaurus his wage during the Covid pandemic, was it? Bern Leno, Hector Bellerin, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Mesut Erzel?
00:08:34
Speaker
Number four. Erzil, wasn't it? Yeah. It was Mr. Erzil, yes. One of the good last things he did for the club was keep the Gunasaurus living and breathing for Arsenal. Yeah. Question number ben nine. How many games was Granite Jakka, our official captain, between being given the armband and it being taken away after his Aggie day on the pitch? Was it three games, four games, five games, or six games?
00:09:01
Speaker
what that yeah sure guess what was that jamie i know I know it wasn't long. It really wasn't. Alright, let's go through our memory from when he got the online. Do you know what? Why does Josh kind of give you the impression? By the way, he said it really wasn't. Why is it making me think three?
00:09:22
Speaker
Well, I said it really wasn't because it's between the three and six games, which isn't a very long time. I reckon you're thinking more into it. I'm safe. I'm going to number two, so four. OK, Matt says it was four games. Craig says it was five games. Jamie. I'm going four. Four. Yes, come on. Is.
00:09:45
Speaker
Four games! Six more games! Matt is back level with Craig and Jamie has pulled ahead. That happens in life, I can put on my TV, I beat Craig at a... Ten questions! You can take that to the bank. Right, Jamie, if you get this right, you win this very high stakes Arsenal Christmas quiz. Question number 10.

Arsenal's Near Invincible Season and Trivia

00:10:10
Speaker
Arsenal were almost invincible in the 1990-1991 season. However, we lost one game. Who was it to? Was it Spurs, Chelsea, Everton or Bracknell Town FC?
00:10:27
Speaker
giving my local boys a shout out from back home. Something saying Bracknell, you know. you' back what i was lie i fast of me
00:10:40
Speaker
Wow. The one team that ruined the 1999. We still won, but they've ruined that season for us. There's something screwing with Chelsea. There's just further than Chelsea at home, which one it was. Do you know what? I feel like if it was Spurs, we we would still know about it. Do you know what I mean? like We would for we'd still kind of carry it with us. Do you know what I mean? I think it's Chelsea. I think on that for me, I'm going Chelsea. I think if it was Everton, you'd hear about it as well. just Yeah, absolutely. That's what I was thinking as well. right They've won so much that it's kind of like whatever. Well, the answer.
00:11:19
Speaker
is Everton. Oh, no, it's not Chelsea. ah so Congratulations Jamie, you are victorious in the arsenal Daily Arsenal Christmas quiz. Well done to you, Jamie. How do you feel? Tell us tell us ah that's how you're feeling in this emotional moment. on Yeah, it means a lot to me. I don't really win a lot, but you know, this means a lot to me. So I'd like to thank my competitors. I'd like to thank Matt and Craig. Big yourselves up and big yourselves up, Josh.
00:11:50
Speaker
all for this amazing quiz. ah yeah That was a whole half hour of my life, randomly researching, really random arsenal facts. I'm glad that we could do it. Right, that is part it for part one of our little Christmas Eve special. When we come back, we're going to talk about some of the biggest stories of the year, the ones that we found funny, the things we enjoyed and our general feelings for how Arsenal did in 2024 and looking forward to 2025. So we'll be back just after this break.

And welcome back to the second part of the Daily Arsenal Christmas Eve Podcast. Jamie just won our quiz, which means he has the honour of going first in this section. So Jamie, it's been, 2024 has been a year. It's been a hell of a year. It's been a weird year. Are there any sort of funny or big stories that really stick in your memory from this year? It could be in football in general. It could be absolutely anything.
00:13:11
Speaker
i mean i think we've got i think you guys will probably agree i'm in this and it's very recent but it's got to be man city's downfall isn't it i mean we we've spoken about it spoken about it on the group chat and i mean it's just one of them where like they're seventh like can we just take that into consideration the fact that they're seventh in the league like who would have written who would have written this I don't think anybody could have written the script that Sitchman said for Christmas before. Sorry, let me pull up my um, Premier League predictions while I have Man City instead of Mavon City.
00:13:45
Speaker
Listen, I don't think any of us, I don't think any of us in our Premier League predictions would have would would be having City in in a in the in seventh spot really, would they? I mean, out of curiosity, ah Matt and Craig, I know that Jamie, you had Arsenal to win as City in second for your predictions. Matt and Craig, we didn't get your predictions because you weren't with us at the start of the season. Whereabouts did you think City did you think city were going to win again this year, Craig? or ive I thought there would be never really a third on the table, um maybe second or first. I was thinking, I said that this season we need more players to get to the top of the league, but I didn't think of that way they are, where they are right now, no way. but al I think I not predicted also 21st and 62nd, Liverpool 3rd, I said.
00:14:32
Speaker
but it yeah I like this guy. I like him. I like you, Craig. Yeah, good on you. That is identical to Jamie. Good on you, Matt. Because you know what? I don't think any of the guys... I don't think any of you lot predicted Arsenal to finish first, did you? Yeah, there were a couple. Erm, Esmond thought they'd finish first. I'm pretty sure. I think Noah did as well, possibly. Ah, yes. Well, I mean, next Friday we're going to do a review of the Daily Arsenal predictions that we did at the start of the season. So we'll pull them all back up, Jamie. Don't you worry, son. included by the way I have to shout out Jamie got a lot of ridicule in that episode because he said that wolves would get relegated and what the hell has happened he's an Oracle at the moment this man
00:15:14
Speaker
Hey, I mean, what can I say? I mean, my bottom three look quite predictable at the minute, because I said, I think I said Southampton, Wolves and Leicester, and then Ipswich finished in 16th. So, you know, hey, you know, you can't be that right, Jamie, it's not acceptable. Matt, where did you have City at the start of the season? when Where do you think they'd end up?
00:15:39
Speaker
So I actually factored in the points deductions. I had them just below Lester in 19th. I'm joking. I'm okay. Okay. Wow.
00:15:50
Speaker
Oh, fantastic. No, all seriousness. I had them second behind the mighty Arsenal. but Really? You don't have to say you thought Arsenal would win. I have to say, I had them first. I didn't think we were up to it this season. I thought we'd come close, but we wouldn't get it. But you're more of a believer than I am, Matt. And I'm i'm glad that you are because we need more believers. I'm glad you boys have joined the club. Yeah.
00:16:13
Speaker
Yeah, we needed you. um Craig, any stories that jump out to you from this year that were just wild, wacky, or that you really enjoyed? I'm trying to think. Well, I can throw one out. What did you make of the David Coop situation? He doesn't last scarlf but i does life go you know like doesn't clothes, doesn't like sculptures. I'm trying to think of a story last month this year. oh but Well, come we'll come back to you while you think about it. Is there anything that jumped out to you from this year?

Year in Review: Stories and Management Sagas

00:16:47
Speaker
You're going to have to go back to Craig. Well, I'm not really sure either, yeah. Well, there's a couple that I thought of. there's I thought the David Kootz story was absolutely sensational, like the way that it just kept snowballing and snowballing with somebody clearly out to get him. ah just it was it It was actually quite unpleasant to watch at times. It was just a deconstruction of a human being. I also thought the entire Ten Harg saga
00:17:11
Speaker
Like yeah what the hell was that? You know, backing him in, going behind, well not even, going behind his back, publicly saying we're looking for his replacement, not finding one, buying a bunch of players for him, then sacking him after three months and getting the guy that you were gonna wait a year for anyway, paying a huge amount of money, and then as we found out, we're recording we're recording this on the 22nd, as we found out on the day, still having all the United problems. like is That entire,
00:17:41
Speaker
craig what did you make it comedy exactly craig like did you did you just find it as baffling as i did the entire time i i i predicted the start of the scene that ken hall will get sacked with all my magnetic friends like this you definitely get sacked the season i said that the results don't go their way on or about money they spend the someone's going to get sacked and i was correctly i said that they're replacing somebody else i thought van nistro they've got the job i thought they'll give it to van nistro yeah same i predicted van nistro might get because When I was seeing his body language on the sidelines and the matches, I think financials tend to do certain things and it wasn't really listening to him. I thought that there's a bit of a clash of personalities there and the players kind of turn against the manager as well. You can see that in my players not playing for him as well, that Rashford's not playing for him. A lot of players thought I'd leave him or not. I thought, you know what, he's not going to be here for long.
00:18:25
Speaker
so There you go. I mean, that is yeah united in a nutshell. Turn on the manager and still be crap the next week. it their sort it's It's in their DNA. I mean, Matt, another thing that happened this year, which I i did find this funny, the Ballon d'Or saga. Real Madrid's getting their bees in a bonnet because it sounded like Vinicius Jr. wasn't going to win. What did you make of that?
00:18:52
Speaker
but didn't I didn't really get the reaction to be honest. Like I thought for me, Roger was a deserved winner and I came on social media and saw people in disbelief and I was kind of like, am I missing something or do I just someone who's been the best player in the world? And apparently people, I don't know, like ah I think.
00:19:11
Speaker
The hilarious thing about the Ballon d'Or is people go through times of being like, this award is a joke. This award means absolutely nothing. Stop taking it seriously to the following year. Oh, my God, I am fuming. Why is this player not won the Ballon d'Or? This sport is a joke. And then they go back to the same discussion just to get angry the year after.
00:19:31
Speaker
It's just a cycle of rage that we as football fans find ourselves in constantly. And it's part of why we love this game and why we hate everybody else who doesn't support exactly who we support. Although it's a fun hate. It's a banterous hatred. So that's sort of like some big stories from the

Arsenal's Performance Reflection and Future Outlook

00:19:48
Speaker
year. Jamie.
00:19:50
Speaker
Your general feelings of Arsenal in the year 2024? We started this year remarkably. I think, what, we lost one game in like 18 or something like that? I believe so, yeah. It was the most incredible run that we went on at the start of the year and obviously we've had ups and downs. How do you feel 2024 has been? Do you think we've progressed or do you think we're a bit stuck?
00:20:12
Speaker
I feel like we've progressed. It's just, it just seemed like that Villa game, I think you could, like I said before, you know, you look at the Villa game at the Emirates, if you really wanted to go far back, you look at West Ham, look at Fulham, you know, games like that kind of decide it all. And, you know, you look at the gap between Arsenal and City last season, I think it was only what, four points or something?
00:20:36
Speaker
So it's like, again, it's, you know, what if we had beaten Villa and beaten Fulham Homer away, you know, or beaten this team, home you know, at Homer away. um So I say that we are going in the right direction. I still... The only thing that really annoys me is the fan base. Just why why turn on our tetter and then as soon as we get three points, oh yeah, we love super miracle tetter. And then next week it's like, oh, that's it. We're back to our tetter out. So ah yeah don't you just love our fan base?
00:21:11
Speaker
Why would you dislike a bunch of fans who changed their opinion based on what the waters or what the weather is outside? i Yeah, we're never known for that. It's an absurd accusation to land Arsenal fans. Arsenal TV. ah but It was two points, by the way, Jeremy. Two points behind City.
00:21:30
Speaker
um today And an identical goal difference. Yeah. So if we'd won one of those games, that's it. It would have been a beautiful 20th anniversary present from the Invincibles. But alas, it didn't happen. um Looking forward, next year, Craig, 2025, are you kind of hopeful for Arsenal? Do you think things will keep improving? Do you think Arteta is the right man to keep improving things for us?
00:21:58
Speaker
They bat him a lot and I thought I'm hoping that he can do the job of winning a trophy. Why has he seen the trophy now? We've been battling the city for the last two seasons, very close on both occasions, very close to the last season, I've seen them before. Maybe he shouldn't have won the season before that. But I thought I would hope from next year that we can win the league or win a trophy at least win something, an e-cart FA company, try and go for the Champions League as well. And I'll be very happy with that.
00:22:27
Speaker
um I think you need to want to show it to you on this project. I think you need to show it to you now. I think you might be right. And that leads quite nicely into the question I was going to ask you, Matt, as well. Obviously, January's coming up. We're probably going to see a little bit of movement in some players, maybe. Like you said, a couple of weeks ago, I think more sort of getting players out, potentially like a couple of players out and maybe one or two biggies in. But we are still in the EFL Cup, the FA Cup, the Champions League. And we're we're not in the title race because we've banned talk of that until we get seven on the top. But we are at the top, towards the top of the table.
00:23:02
Speaker
do you think silverware of any form is the must this season? I look at it in an interesting way because on one hand yes but equally if Arsenal come away from the season with a Carabao Cup hypothetically are fans going to be happy? In my opinion and I think people constantly move the goalposts to claim they'll be happy or claim they'll be unhappy but the reality is people want the Premier League or the Champions League. If Arsenal don't win a trophy. Obviously it'll be the the discourse about Arteta not winning a trophy in five six whatever many years. If Arsenal win a Carabao Cup it will be all we've got to show for it is a Carabao Cup now and an FA Cup six years ago. So it's one of those where I completely get the general notion that god you've got to win a trophy and Arsenal definitely got to that point
00:23:53
Speaker
in the project you know obviously a lot of time rebuilding and people often kind of overdo quite how much work God said I had to do to to get the team in a stable shape but I think from a general fan perspective obviously see we want to see trophies and you know as a necessity obviously a club like Arsenal win trophies particularly the the moment they're in now and have been for a while but at the same time I personally think a lot of the talk about trophies is actually just to disguise the fact that people want the Champions League or a Premier League and anything else they're kind of claiming to be relatively happy over but aren't really, in my opinion. Yeah, I think he might be right. Jamie was entirely correct in that sense because he was shaking his head as soon as she said Carabao Cup.
00:24:33
Speaker
so not here enough for him The thing is right, a lot I was going to say, like Arteta said, I mean, he says that he's won three trophies. You know, you can't forget the community shields, can you? but That is the biggest point of desperation.
00:24:49
Speaker
when you're claiming the community shield is a trophy. that That's that that right what Matt's saying is so true. And the thing is right. If if ah if I saw Arsenal win the Carabao Cup, I'd be happy with it. Because a trophy is a trophy at the end of the day. But like Matt said, it's the expectation of a Premier League, you know, especially the fact that now we've been involved in the title race but two for the past two seasons. So now Arsenal fans are, you know, starting to think now, well, hold on a minute, we've got a good enough squad here, you know, we need to invest in other positions, yes, but if we can invest in that other position, strengthen, um get rid of deadwood and that's it, then why can't we go for the league? But again,
00:25:30
Speaker
I look at January and I'm like, already, I know what to expect. Players either going out on loan or going out, no one coming in, that's it. Okay, last question on this ah point in that case. Who is your Christmas present signing? Who do we want most? Craig, Christmas present signing for Arsenal? Esac. Esac. Jamie? Esac, yeah. Matt?
00:25:56
Speaker
Tell you what, you'd better hope Santa has not given to a lot of people this year.
00:26:04
Speaker
yeah wow
00:26:10
Speaker
I think realistically speaking, I don't know who is realistic. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but but if it's in like an ideal world, so I think like a semennio would be brilliant because I'm not even going to mention is actually be sensational. But I'm afraid have fun dealing with new cars or have fun. You'll be paying.
00:26:32
Speaker
maybe four digits at this rate, maybe not even three digits anymore. yeah Obviously not that, but generally speaking, I think to get a player like that in January is the definition of no chance. I think Kudas would be a very welcome addition arsenal. So I think in Kudas or Semenyo, someone who just brings variance to our attack, obviously we're always looking at the superstar names, you know, maybe in the summer that can be achieved and I hope it can.
00:26:58
Speaker
But I think Arsenal just need variants and another sterling ilk, but someone who will provide what sterling should be providing or should be given the chance to provide, if that makes sense. So another wing away, you're like, oh, OK, you suddenly give this much goal assist, this much game time, this much output, etc, etc, etc.
00:27:17
Speaker
Mm-hmm. That's fair. um If it was me, I've i've got two. um i want We always want another left back. We always need one, seemingly, as Arsenal. We have 62, as Matt said, in the last podcast. But Kirkez, I'd have him at at the drop of a hat from Bournemouth. OK. I'd have him at the drop of a hat. But my big one, I've been saying it for months. Give me Vlachovich for Christmas Centre. Vlachovich. I want my Vlachovich. I want him now.

You may have done with him, apparently. So it was according to reports. Give me Vlahavich. That is the end for this section. We're going to come back just after this message from the GSPN network. And we're just going to have a little, just a nice little chat to end things off on what's been a lovely little year. So we'll be back just after this message.

Personal Anecdotes and Christmas Plans

We've been talking about quizzes, we've been talking about our favorite stories, how we feel about Arsenal in 2024, how we hope things are going to change in 2025. But you know what? You don't really get to know us as people, particularly on this podcast. You get to hear our opinions and our sort of weird takes. Trust our distilled crap. But you know, Of course you'd say that. I'm sure if JD was here, he'd say, oh, well, yeah, Habert is rubbish as well. so yeah um I've got to get it. If Trossard is watching this, I happen to be listening to this. He doesn't actually mean that. He's just saying it for attention. so
00:29:15
Speaker
Yes, yeah sure, it's just for the short, just for the clicks, yeah, whatever. But what I'd love to know, um obviously, it's Christmas Eve today, whether you celebrate Christmas or not, we hope you're having a wonderful day enjoying some time off. um Craig, are you doing anything special tomorrow? That's our family. I've just been at home to have a good children last time, watch some death in paradise. I'm good.
00:29:39
Speaker
Death in Paradise is such an underrated show. It's so good. um ah which Which one do you... Because they've done a couple of new ones recently, haven't they? It's the dude from My Family is the one I always loved the most. Yeah, I was his name again. um Chris Marshall. Yeah, he was a very good one. I like Ralph Little. Ralph Little was funny in it as well. He was the last one, the last detective.
00:30:02
Speaker
he I think he left the last series before, so I can't wait to see the Christmas special. ah sick cause they're dick I think they've done a new one with them the tool, dude don't they? One set in Cornwall or something like that. Yeah, I watched that one. yeah I think it's called 3 on Paradise, of course. It won't ever beat what Death in Paradise was. What about you Matt? Definitely not. What have you got ah planned for tomorrow?
00:30:26
Speaker
Not too much to be honest, I don't really celebrate, so probably just spend time with the family, chill. Yeah, maybe maybe go to the gym if it's open. relevant I've never heard of anybody thinking for Christmas Day, do you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to get a workout in. That is priority number, I mean, respect to you for it, Matt. Respect to you for that. Yeah, I will be doing the opposite.
00:30:50
Speaker
You can't get those Jack Greenish calves if you're sitting down feasting on Turkey all day long. I've got to respect it. And Jamie, what about you, man? So for me, I'll be at my girlfriend's, so...
00:31:03
Speaker
should be should be an interesting day. Obviously, no talk of no talk of Arsenal Palace at all. um you know Guy and I weren't on the on the review, but yeah, no talk of that, because or else I'd probably be spending Christmas elsewhere. So yeah. so Yeah, better not better not say nothing until Palace win their next game. That is probably very smart, Jamie. And also to your girlfriend, um the comments that we made in the last podcast were very sorry. um Obviously, the result didn't go your way, but we want you to know that everyone here at the Daily Arsenal Podcast loves you dearly, love Jamie, and um hopefully you turn things around soon enough.
00:31:47
Speaker
ah Fingers crossed for you. Myself, I am spending my very first Christmas all on my own. And I cannot wait. It's gonna be great. Yeah, cause like Craig knows this as well. Cause we work in hospitality. um So I'm working Christmas Eve, working most of the Boxing Day, working New Year's Eve as well. So I've got a really busy schedule. My family all live down south. I live in Manchester. So my flatmates going home. I have the flat to myself.
00:32:17
Speaker
I can wake up when I want. I have a bottle of gin, a lot of Mediterranean tonic, a steak, some eight pea potatoes from Lidl, and I am going to feast on steak and potatoes. I'm going to drink a lot of gin and I'm going to play FIFA until I pass out. And that is my time for Christmas. That is my Christmas day.
00:32:43
Speaker
And frankly, I think it's gonna be the best Christmas I've ever spent. Love you, family, if you're listening, but. I was gonna say just yeah I was gonna say be very careful what you're saying because I'm sure your missus and your family might be listening to this so she's very careful what you're saying she's well aware she knows what my plans are um ah she's not particularly happy about it but she knows what my plans are so it's fine which we we we've we've hushed it all out it's fine I'm going to meet all of her extended family on boxing day after I've done some work which is terrifying but it'll be fine it'll be fine like I say again lots and lots of gym
