Craig matthews : Confident. I'm very confident we can go there and get the three points. It's not going to be an easy game because Burnley going to have a low block. Every team we play against is going to have low blocks.

Craig matthews : If we go there and get a couple of early goals early, so we get three or four in the lap, then we can rest play for the next game. We've got some hot hard games coming up in November. was so We have to be very smart, we have to play, try to move the ball quicker and then we'll get our goals.

Global Sports Podcast Network: Now, again, we're going with this whole low block thing. How can we try and break down this low block? Because, again, happened for bright happened against Brighton. happened It's happened against quite a few teams.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Surely by now we'd have learned our lesson on how we how we try and, you know, play against the low block. How would you try and break down this low block?
Craig matthews : move the ball quick, he moves the ball quick, gets him out position and then put the ball in the box and hopefully Gokorrez, Saka, Martinez or Trosso will get a goal.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah.
Craig matthews : The only way can beat teams out Burnley and these teams low blocks, you have to move the ball quick. got to pull them out position, pull them out to the left pull them left, right, centre, pull them around. That's the only clever or teams will beat teams like that.
Craig matthews : Cause then they're going to defend for the whole 90 minutes and try and nick a goal on the counter attack or into a set piece. So if we can move them around a bit, tie them out a bit and then get a goal, we should be fine.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, no, absolutely. um Going back to your Victor Jokerez, I don't know if you've noticed it, Craig, but I've noticed the best way to unlock Victor Jokerez, and I'll keep repeating it over and over again.
Global Sports Podcast Network: But best way to unlock him is long ball. You play a long aerial ball to him and he goes and latches onto it.
Craig matthews : ah
Global Sports Podcast Network: I think he plays better with the ball playing over his head rather to his feet.
Craig matthews : Yeah.

Craig matthews : I agree. agree because there's one game, I think it was Max Dalman against Portfield. I remember that ball they played, that was six ball they played over the top and it was through.

Craig matthews : So I feel like you're right. To play the ball over the top and get him running behind the defenders and he'd get a chance to score. think with the two, when you're playing on both his feet all the time, it's not a guy that's going to, I don't want to say mobile, but it's not quick enough to get past defenders like But if you had ball over the top, you can run in, get an extra running behind and get an opportunity to score.

Craig matthews : I'll play Norgaard because the physical game in it, thought Norgaard could handle the physicality.

Craig matthews : So I think Skelly deserves start against Burnley. And if doesn't work, he can always take him off at half-time or second half and bring on Califori. Califori can't afford to play every single game this season. We need to rotate our team, keep their legs fresh.
Craig matthews : You know what mean? Or maybe he might start having the Champions League next week. i don't know. so But I would rather do the Skeletor play. He's in good form at the moment. So I want to start against Burnley. Don't what you're thinking about that.

Now, Craig, let's have a little talk about Burnley because, let's be honest, let's all be honest here. For anyone listening, we all, come on now, we all surely predicted that, you know, Burnley, we're going to be one of the teams that were going down.
Global Sports Podcast Network: But surprisingly, they've actually done quite, they've done quite decent, haven't they?
Craig matthews : Definitely.
Global Sports Podcast Network: And again, where where are they in the league, actually? That's a good question. Let's have a look at where they are in the league.

Global Sports Podcast Network: 16th, and i know it's I know it's very early days being being nine games into the season, but they are five points above the relegation zone.

Craig matthews : That's not bad. They've only lost five games a season. That's not bad. Yeah.

Global Sports Podcast Network: And also another thing I was going to say is how do we also quiet down Burnley fans? Because again, you know, when we go away, we know that Arsenal fans going to need to be on top notch.
Global Sports Podcast Network: They're going be top notch. They need to be at their loudest during that game, don't they?
Craig matthews : what What I've noticed about Arsenal, the way Arsenal fans are more louder than their home fans. don't know if you've noticed that. The Arsenal fans who go away from Emirates, they're more passionate than the Arsenal fans who are at home.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah.
Craig matthews : I've noticed that when they go to Newcastle away, you can hear them singing.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah.
Craig matthews : When they go to Tottenham away, you can hear them singing. When they go to any other stadium around the country, they're going away from home. Those fans will go miles and miles and miles away to go watch Arsenal play. It's not like the Emirates. Sometimes you go to the Emirates, got some fans well the Arsenal fans are not passionate the Wave fans are more passionate obviously if I um describe Arsenal fans they're more passionate for the team so they will give it everything
Global Sports Podcast Network: True. True. I mean... we We go back to being passionate and stuff like that. where You know, I actually thought about you at at the game yesterday, Craig, when you spoke about the atmosphere. And I thought yesterday, yesterday's atmosphere wasn't too bad.
Global Sports Podcast Network: i thought it wasn't too bad. i could maybe sense a small difference. You know, there was a lot more chanting.
Craig matthews : yeah
Global Sports Podcast Network: It was fair to say that I kind of got to the end of that game with a bit of a sore throat. And I thought, right, I've done my...

Global Sports Podcast Network: I've done my job. I was like, I left the game. I was like, yeah, I've done my job. I even said to my mate, yeah, we've done our jobs, man. We were loud. We're passionate.
Craig matthews : yeah
Global Sports Podcast Network: Got see Spurs lose. and And that's it. And, you know, again, I'm hoping now that if I can get to more games again, I'd really do. I really, really would show my passion. But there is slowly starting to become a bit more of an atmosphere. But I would still, I'd still like to encourage the fact that we have our own kind of you know, fanatics and, and, and, you know what I mean?
Global Sports Podcast Network: Like, I'd like it, yes but like, you know, if we could be called the Ashburton army fanatics or, you know, the Ashburton, you know, the Ashburton fanatics or something, you you know, come up with an inventive name and get, and be given the resources to go and,
Craig matthews : Definitely.
Craig matthews : Of course.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Really be passionate and be loud and, you know, take inspiration from clubs like Palace and from PSG and, you know, from all their old and and from any other ultras that you see at any other European game.
Craig matthews : Yes.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Like, you know, it would all go a long way. But I did see a small turning point, but I'd like to see that hopefully continue on as the season goes on.
Craig matthews : Yeah.
Craig matthews : Definitely, I agree, i agree.
Global Sports Podcast Network: especially Especially when we look at, you know, if we look at after, you know, in the sense of, but you know, Bayern Munich, Spurs, Chelsea away, you know, I'd like to hope that we can really build up an atmosphere at the Emirates.
Craig matthews : Hmm. Um...
Global Sports Podcast Network: Really build that up. But yeah, going back to Burnley though, um but you know, have you got any players that you would look out for necessarily?
Craig matthews : all Jaden Anthony a good player, a good low wing off.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yep.
Craig matthews : Decent. I'll say Carl Walker might get a few problems here, like right back, might be solid at right back.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Gosh, do you know what? I completely forgot Karl Walker plays for Burnley now. Oh, what a reception he'll get when he comes to the Emirates.
Craig matthews : They've got Lau Taylor, I think his name is a striker as well.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Lyle Taylor, yeah.
Craig matthews : It's decent. They've got some decent midfielders as well. can't remember their names, but they've got some decent midfielders. So, I feel if we play our A game against them, We'll beat them.
Craig matthews : But have to out for these players. Who's the goalkeeper for them?

Craig matthews : The Braufer. I remember he um and we had a blinding game against last season for Newcastle in the League Cup.
Global Sports Podcast Network: I will never forget that. And even at his time you know his time at Newcastle, I'll never forget. you know
Craig matthews : Hmm.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Absolutely top quality keeper.
Craig matthews : Yeah.
Global Sports Podcast Network: top quality keeper. But I think, yeah, this game will really, I think this game will really test us because this could, you know, a lot of ah a lot of people could see this as a potential banana slip for Arsenal.
Craig matthews : Hmm.
Global Sports Podcast Network: And I think, again, we need to go into this game knowing that we can win, but also to have that confidence to try and break down the low blocks because i think now, and I'm sure you probably have noticed it as well, but teams have really sussed us out now, haven't they?

Craig matthews : I thought teams were confident that Emirates were away from the Emirates are boring to watch. I almost couldn't ask them boring. They're boring. They're not attacking.

Craig matthews : But in the first half, when they play against them, they just low blocks for the whole first half. They're not going up. I like teams to come out and try and play against them. Like, play against them.

Craig matthews : Be fearful. Only in the second half, Palace credit, when they went 1-0 down, they started trying and started going for goals, trying to get goals in the second half.

Craig matthews : But why do teams come to the Emirates part bus?
Global Sports Podcast Network: know what? It's funny you say that, right? Because I kind of realised that. I realised that from the moment City came, from the moment, from that City game, that's when I noticed every team we've played against have all got have all gone low block.
Global Sports Podcast Network: All of them have gone low block. Maybe barring Liverpool. Barring Liverpool. Yeah, barring Liverpool.
Craig matthews : Leeds, Leeds, Leeds didn't go wrong again, so they're not bad.
Global Sports Podcast Network: and And yeah, Leeds. Yeah.
Craig matthews : Leeds had a go. I rate Leeds as well. I know Leeds got battered by us, but rate Leeds for having a go at least.

Craig matthews : And I hope they split up this season as well because they came to the end of the take on Arsenal. I hate teams that just block, block, block, block. block
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, because it's just boring.
Craig matthews : That's not the game of football, man.
Global Sports Podcast Network: As you said, it is boring football to watch because, as you've said, if teams go and park the bus against us, what's the point?
