JD: You're worse than me. Because there's one thing, I'll never support Golden State. I'll never support that team. That team is literally, that team is just full of superstars.

JD: To be fair, I think the Cavaliers, they had a jersey where when LeBron was there with them, I think his final season, they like ah it was like a T-shirt and it was black.

Global Sports Podcast Network: Yes, I know we we are suffering with the injuries a little bit. You know, obviously no Gabriel. And I kind of said, but, you know, we've seen Mosquer really, you know, really settle in and play well. And he's performed well in big games.

Global Sports Podcast Network: You know, if there is no Calafiore, which, you know, fingers crossed, let's hope we've got him because let's be honest, he's our secret left winger in disguise, isn't he?

JD: um Yeah, I think the Tottenham team that we have now, that we're that what we were playing against, it's it's not how it was a couple of seasons ago.
JD: yeah There's no Song, there's no Harry Kane, they've got no goal for it.

JD: I honestly think if Arsenal lose to this Tottenham team, I'll be heavily disappointed. Heavily disappointed.

JD: Because we kind of beat them... in every area of the pitch. I think a couple of seasons ago, you probably didn't. You know, I think probably up front, they probably had a better strike than us.

JD: Harry Kane, yeah. Yeah. Right about now, every position you can think of on that pitch, starting at 11, even off the bench, we beat Tottenham.
JD: It's kind of like how it was when, you know, the early 2000s, 2005, where Tottenham had a decent squad, but Arsenal would always beat them because our squad was superior.

Global Sports Podcast Network: We've done okay. we I don't think we've... You know, we've done all right in that sense. You know, we've we haven't done too bad. But, obviously, for us being at the Emirates, we've done a lot better at the Emirates than we have, say, away from home.

JD: Because I think on their day, they're pretty lethal. On their day. Not every day is their day, but on their day, they're pretty lethal.

JD: But Tottenham, I can't lie. North London at home, we need to be definitely winning this. um umm I'm usually the one that negs with the ne to Nancy in the group. JD: I think if, I think the only person you can really think of, I can only think of, is probably Mourinho. You know, I think he's the only one that's probably going to, if you're going to get a set-piece goal and get someone to get ahead on it, it's probably going to be him.

JD: I watched it and I can see where um you know we missed Jockwards, as in how he stretches to play and how he creates opportunities for Saka and Martinsale or Trosard, who played on the left and everything there.

JD: And Mourinho doesn't really do those things. But there's one thing about Mourinho I think he doesn't get enough credit for is he's kind of a lethal finisher. When I say lethal, see it as...
JD: Name me a chance where he shouldn't have scored or he's missed a ah chance. I think all the goals he's got, one or two, I mean...

JD: um That's where you come. You're Saka and whoever plays on the left, whether it's Trostle Martinelli, they've got to find him.

JD: They've got to find him space. I think, Renio, you find him space. I think nine times out or ten or eight times out ten, he gets at least gets a shot on target, you know, and gets back on the net. and that's what i see And that's the good thing of him being up front. When it comes to the days of that Sunderland game where I think Sunderland's set-up was really good.
JD: I think it played really well.

JD: He's not going to go out there and stretch to play what Jokeres does. And you can see it. You can see you you could see that. And I know a lot of Arsenal fans will look at Jokeres and think, Oh, not getting goals. He's not good enough. Oh, he doesn't do this.
JD: But you can see, if you look at him when he's not you know scoring goals or all the dirty work, he works very hard for that team.

JD: He works extremely hard. And you can see that we were missing that in that signing game. And that's why we drew that game. That's of the reasons. One of the reasons.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Yeah, no. do you know what? I absolutely agree with you on that. I thought that when I was watching the game, I was like to myself, we we're missing that Yoko Reyes figure in the box.
JD: Yeah.
Global Sports Podcast Network: And going back to something you just said there, JD, about his presence, we are really missing his presence. And I i do get it right. You know, you're going to have the media pepper him online because he hasn't scored in X amount of games and so on and so on.
JD: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Global Sports Podcast Network: But to me, people forget that You know, I get it, right? he He's been really well known for scoring all these goals for sporting in, in you know, the Portuguese League and the Champions League.
Global Sports Podcast Network: And the thing is, I think we're seeing it more from Jokeres in the Champions League where, you know, he's being a really good threat and he's and he's, you know, and he's managed to score a few in the Champions League. They've not been pretty, but they've all gone in the net. Do you know what mean?
JD: yeah yeah
Global Sports Podcast Network: But I think we still need to give him time. And I said this when we first signed him, is the fact that I don't expect him to hit the ground running straight away. ah really don't.
Global Sports Podcast Network: If he can just be a presence, which he has been at the from the start of the season...

Global Sports Podcast Network: That's all I could ask for. Because then you're creating opportunities for whoever the left winger is and for Saka or Madweke.

Global Sports Podcast Network: It works. It works. And as long as it works, that's all I'm happy about. I would like to see Jokeres score more, obviously. But I think that will that will come as time goes on.
JD: You think, for me personally, I don't think he's that sort of striker. i don't I don't see him doing what Haaland does or him getting 30 goals in the league and all sorts of stuff I think what he does already for the team is enough.

JD: Listen, for me, personally, he needs a couple of seasons under his belt to be saying yeah that he's got 20-goal striker.

JD: see Listen, I grew up in a time where, in the early 2000s, most teams had that striker that gave you 20-goals in the season.

JD: You've got Leeds with Mark Faduka. You've got, I don't want to mention them guys, but Tottenham with Jermaine Defoe.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Mark Verduta, yeah.
JD: Do you know what mean?

JD: You've got, you know, you've got, was it Middlesbrough with Hasselbank?

JD: You know what mean? You've got, every team had ah at least a guy, Shearer Nukon, you had at least one guy, one striker that would get you at least 20 goals a season.

JD: But now... I mean, it's not really like that.

JD: It's not really like that. and You know, there's not there's not much centre-forwards out there that I think, rah, yeah, they're pretty world-class.

JD: Like in the Premier League, name at least what four centre-forwards that are world-class like that.

Global Sports Podcast Network: And just quickly speaking of Jokeres, because I want to bring a point up. You mentioned actually um very first game of the season away to United.
JD: Yeah.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Do you still think that Jokeres is still trying to find his fitness at Arsenal as well? Because I remember you saying to me after that game, you know, he looked very, you know, I think he didn't know, he knew the Premier League was going to be intense, but I didn't think he was going to, he would expect it to be this intense.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Do you still think maybe Jokeres is trying to find his fitness? Because I know after the United game, you said to you said to us all actually that I just don't think he's found his feet yet in terms of fitness.
JD: After that game, I think he did all right, to be fair. I think he, I can't lie, we didn't remake that much plays. I'm not going to lie to you, that game was mainly United, that game.
JD: We kind of got lucky with that 1-0 win.

JD: you know I think they kind of they kind of showed that.

JD: i never really threatened i know I never really was scared of that United would have this terrible season. I thought the team was decent, especially with that performance they played at Old Trafford. I think he did all right, Jokovic. I think he didn't really get much of the ball.
JD: We didn't really create nothing from him. And when he did have the ball or needed to do something or was working, I think he worked very hard. and But you could... For me, I could see that the fitness wasn't there.
JD: You could see he was not 100% sharp. And that's probably because he didn't have preseason properly.

JD: um You know, you probably went on strike with Sporting Lisbon to get the transfer over.

JD: I think that team, probably, if it was a I'd probably take the point, I'm going to honest. um I think that team, and it's not so much Tottenham being so excellent.
JD: I think certain players you put in, like Jesus, if he was to start that game with a second team, he not played that much football.

JD: I think them gelling and playing a competitive game to together like that, I think they'll probably be yeah it probably they'll probably make a few mistakes in that game and I'll probably let Tottenham get a chance.

It's not enough to go and be like, i I'm sorry, but like you've said earlier on, JD, i would i'd be i'd be i'd I'd be lost for words. like even Even just talking about it, I'd be stunned if Spurs were to go and get a result against us, especially being at the Emirates as well.

JD: Yeah, yet they've always been kind of head-to-head in the last five or six years, but then City's kind of blown them in the water recently.

JD: So when it comes to a Champions League game and you've got this Eastern European team or whatever team that's away, right, and they come with their die-hard fans, the Emirates feels like it's an away day.

JD: And it's bad because it's not like they get a lot of a lot of crowd there. They've got a little small section in the corner Why they just make so much noise?
Global Sports Podcast Network: you know what? You you speak of Champions League games, right? And the first team that came to mind when you spoke about Champions League um is Kyra Almaty. Now, in January, Kyra Almaty come to the Emirates.
Global Sports Podcast Network: um Me and my mate, we've actually been talking about this game for since the draw got made. And we said, look, we should easily get we should easily win the ballot for Kyra Almaty.
Global Sports Podcast Network: But atmosphere-wise, it's got to be there. I don't care. And the thing is, right, I know it's match day eight and it's the last match day in the Champions League. But i still want I still want passion. I want an atmosphere to go to. I really want to go and soak it all up. Do you know what I mean?
Global Sports Podcast Network: And for me, look, if I can get a ticket for Kyra Almaty, it'll be brilliant. But for me now, I mean, I'm going to be honest, right? And I said this to JD, but during the course of December, I'm going to every Arsenal home game.
Global Sports Podcast Network: And for me, and I've always said this, I've said it to my girlfriend, is I want an atmosphere. When I go to Palace, you've got the Holmesdale fanatics. When you go to, you know, if you was to go, you know, when PSG came to the Emirates, they had the PSG Ultras there.
Global Sports Podcast Network: Why, again, why can't Arsenal have, you know, the Arsenal Ultras? But, oh, I forgot, we have the Ashburton Army. But what do they do?
JD: Me personally, I think since we may left Highbury and we've gone into the Emirates and obviously Arsenal, they're too much of a big team to be at Highbury.
JD: As much as I love Highbury and I love the ground Highbury and I think every arsenel every true Arsenal fan loves Highbury, you've got look at it in business purpose.

JD: purpose Highbury is not more efficient enough because Arsenal, they're way too big to to to be at Highbury.
Global Sports Podcast Network: and And the thing is, right, ah with Highbury, it's, you know, there's there's there's houses. you There was no way you could redevelop Highbury because then you were having to knock down houses and and it was it was physically impossible to knock down Highbury.
JD: No, no, not at all. Yeah. and and the I

JD: yeah, I think with Highbury, Highbury served the purpose of what that team was at that time and what Arsenal that time.

JD: And going forward, the Emirates needed to be made. You know, I don't agree with certain things how it was made, And it it obviously made an impact of us on the pitch.
JD: We're not going to get into too many details with that on today's pod.

JD: But what we kind of need to see and what we've not seen since we moved to the Emirates is the RSP. We've recently seen it, recently.
JD: But for many, many years, the Emirates has not been the atmosphere. I think even when Henri, when they first moved into the Emirates, you know Henri even said, you know, we felt like kind of the away fans, you know, we went to the Emirates, it didn't feel like home.
JD: And obviously someone like Henri, you know, quality player is, Haiby would definitely feel like that's his, be you know, that's his playground, you know.

JD: The Emirates, it's not.

JD: I think now we're slowly starting to to kind of build a little momentum and and show that, you know, Emirates away is a difficult game. you know We don't really lose much games at the Emirates. I've seen a lot of couple. But if you look at this season, ain't lost a game at the Emirates. I'm not going lie to you. We don't lost a game Emirates this whole season.
Global Sports Podcast Network: I get that. I totally get that, right? And um another thing... And again, I'm going to go back... I'm going to really go back to the atmosphere again. But, you know, there's always this saying in football where, you know, you want a stadium to become a fortress...

And I just think, at the end of the day, all you've got... Look, when I go... When i when I've gone to Palace Games with my girlfriend, and I've sat and you know i've sat in like the Holmesdale end, for example, where the Fanatics are, they've got megaphones, they've got drums, they've got flags. They've... You know, from the minute... From minute one...
Global Sports Podcast Network: through to minute 90, there is constant chanting, you know, and that's the kind of thing I'd love to see at the Emirates. And I noticed as well, JD, I don't know if you've realised it, but say, for example,

Global Sports Podcast Network: But I've realised once you enter a ballot, if you don't win the ballot, For everyone else that's entered ballots, you get access to the ticket exchange. If you don't enter a ballot, you don't get access to the ticket exchange. And I think that's how I've been so lucky now to be able to go to, you know, Brighton, Wolves, Palace,
Global Sports Podcast Network: And Brentford coming up in December. um But it'll be very interesting to see what the atmosphere is going to be like over the next over the next four games as well. Because I expect us to bring an atmosphere. And especially when we play Palace at the Emirates, Palace are going to be loud from the offset.
Global Sports Podcast Network: And that is where we need to try and match Palace. But in all fairness, I don't think, atmosphere-wise, it needs to get better at the Emirates.

You know, you look at the back four, especially if we have Calafiore, brilliant. If we don't and we have either Marzlo Skelly or Hinn Capier, I wouldn't worry too much.
