Drago's Arrival in a Strange Place

00:00:00
Speaker
I faced a toad. Fuck me. Toad? Of Toad Hall? Yeah.
00:00:35
Speaker
You open your eyes and look down and see wooden floors. These seem to stretch off off into the distance. As you look up and around to where the ceiling of walls should be, there is just nothing.

Meeting Valinor and Introduction to the Plane

00:00:50
Speaker
Bleak darkness, blackness surrounding you and a light hum in the air. You feel cold, even for a
00:01:01
Speaker
Dragonborn of your descendency, you don't normally feel the cold, but you feel chill. As you turn around and look at this wooden floor that stretches off, a wooden floor that you'd see in any, any building on the sword coast or indeed in, in sleep guard. As you turn around, you see two chairs facing each other at probably about 30 feet distance between one another.
00:01:28
Speaker
And in one of these chairs, you see a green-skinned humanoid. His light and pinched features seem different to that of an orc. His skin is scabbed and peeling. He looks somewhat unwell. He leans on a short sword with his hands and his head resting upon that. Across his shoulders is a light red robe which covers the majority of his body. He doesn't move.
00:01:59
Speaker
Drago takes it in the site and walks up to the empty chair and sits down.
00:02:13
Speaker
Uh, Kiva? Oh god! Suddenly this person stands up and jumps back, um, drops the sword, picks up a staff, and you finally see his face the first time, and he's a Githyanki. He's a, uh, someone you haven't really seen before, or at least you haven't seen before. And he looks shaking as he holds the staff out towards you.

Understanding the Tests

00:02:32
Speaker
Who are you? Drago puts up both his hands. Whoa, whoa, I'm Drago.
00:02:40
Speaker
Okay. Who are you? I am Valinor. He puts the staff down to his side and sits back down. I assume you're here for the... for the tests of faith too, I assume. That's what this is? He hasn't told you. I've just been pulled into this plane. Oh yes. He has a habit of doing that, you see.
00:03:08
Speaker
I assume that's why I've been left here as well, is to explain it to you then. How long you been here? I lose track of time after a while, but every time I finish and I fail, I ask again for forgiveness and the want and need to repeat the tests of faith, and so I sit them again. So I wait. You failed. You've done this more than once.
00:03:35
Speaker
I have, to my recollection, done this over 50 times. Oh. I am not the most worthy, obviously, of Akiva. Can't you leave? Yes. Then why are you still here? Because I need his help. I need to become a cleric or a paladin of Akiva. I need his... Power. Yes.
00:04:01
Speaker
I need his power, and without that I... there is no point in me returning. I understand. I-I'm sure you will do better than me, it's uh... I'm not the... not the strongest of will. Um, so these trials...
00:04:22
Speaker
Is it out of the rules to tell me what I'm going to be facing?

Test of Courage: Battle with the Death Slard

00:04:28
Speaker
He pauses for a second and kind of looks out into the distance into this wood that seems to stretch off into the horizon in all directions and then up, almost expecting something to tell him one way or the other.
00:04:44
Speaker
I guess not. You've got four tests that you have to go through. A test of courage, a test of resolve, a test of faith, and a test of trust. The first three are always very similar to every time I go through it, but the fourth one always changes. The test of trust, it's never the same test.
00:05:08
Speaker
So, I don't know what you'll face at the end. Right, okay. Um, is... like... Do you have to do any religious type chanting or dancing? Drago starts to draw his arms across his... his mid- uh, his mid-waist hairs there to show he's uncomfortable.
00:05:37
Speaker
Yeah, is there any religious things that you could tell me before... I'm not... I'm not the most religious of guys despite me being here. I can tell. You have to attune yourself to Akiva in a variety of ways, you see. Firstly, encourage.
00:06:05
Speaker
You have to attune yourself to the undeath. You have to kill a creature of Akiva's choosing. It's combat. I failed at that many times early on. And Drago starts to seem a little bit more confident here as he puffs his chest out. Okay, combat. I've got down. And Drago reaches over his back and he taps Dengon's deception.
00:06:30
Speaker
And this person, this Githyanki doesn't even seem to, yeah, yeah, yeah, he kind of gives you like a knowing, yeah, whatever, kind of nod. But doesn't want to hurt your feelings, it doesn't go any deeper. The second is resolve. And you have to attune yourself with the plane, the eternal plane itself, you see. And that does require a prayer of some description, but not any,
00:06:57
Speaker
He tries to word this carefully here, not a prayer as such as more a pilgrimage. You must walk what feels like forever. You walk down this hall and along the way you come across those that you have slain and you must
00:07:25
Speaker
in some way, shape or form, move past them, past their souls as they look upon you, and that was the one I fail at the most. They call it the walk of the forge. This second test of resolve where you walk past those you've killed, you walk along this huge hallway
00:07:49
Speaker
larger than anything I've seen before and at the end you you come to a forge where Akiva began it began as a blacksmith and when you arrive there you you attune yourself to a weapon a weapon of your choice and you attune a soul of your choice to that weapon and then with that weapon
00:08:12
Speaker
you take it into the third test of faith and are armed with your new holy weapon you are you have to and he pauses and shifts a little bit it's I only did it once
00:08:32
Speaker
but you get given an ability by a Kiva and you have to basically bring the creature you've previously slain back to life. You have to raise the dead to show your understanding. And now trust me, when I say this and he moves closely, he stands up at this point and he's quite tall and moves closer to you, you have to understand how the soul works. It will try and enter into you.
00:09:02
Speaker
And if it does so, that's it. There's no coming back from that. Everything else we can repeat. But that, that will end you. You have to make sure the soul doesn't enter into you. Okay, good word. So, so far we've got combat, a walk, a weapon, combat.
00:09:28
Speaker
Someone that I've killed before I mean, okay, okay Just don't let this all into me. How hard can that be? and kind of a Rice smile comes up across his face The last one is a test of trust And I cannot tell you what will be involved in that one As every time I do it it changes. It can be something from my past It can be something from the future. It could be something from
00:10:00
Speaker
Here, or somewhere else? I don't know. It will depend on you and your circumstance, traveller. Draggo. Draggo. Valinor. That's... that's what they call me. Valinor? Yes. Ah. Okay. It shouldn't be much longer.

Learning Self-Control

00:10:24
Speaker
can normally tell when these things happen. They just call you forward. I mean, what's the procedure? It just happens. It just happens and I have seen a few come through in my time.
00:10:37
Speaker
But I will wait and I will keep my resolve and eventually, eventually, and just as he's about to finish that, he just dissolves away and the ground starts to melt and shift into sand around you. The wood warps and forms a circular audience that rises up around the sand pit and it forms basically a fighting pit.
00:10:59
Speaker
You can see leftover eminence of arrows in the ground and you can get this auditory sound of roaring of an audience. As you look up, almost imagine the gladiator, the arena style, big sand pit filled with blood and the sun piercing through. But as you look up, it doesn't feel like the sun. Everything feels slightly odd. The audience, as you look around, it's kind of like
00:11:25
Speaker
It's kind of like when you look, there's a low light and darkness and as you try and directly look at it, it disappears. And as you see at the peripheral of your eye, you can see it. The audience are like that and as you try and look directly at them, they just seem to ephemerally disappear.
00:11:40
Speaker
You see bones and marks of blood in the sand around you. And then suddenly this figure starts to form opposite you. And this is huge two legged creature with long arms that reach down to the floor that it leans on. So it's almost kind of four legs almost. It's black skin is broken by an array of black spikes from the crown on its head down to its claw like hands. The face forms that have a massive amphibious frog like creature. You've never seen anything like this before, but you hear,
00:12:08
Speaker
For the first time, since being dragged down to this, what you can assume is the eternal plane, the voice of Akiva, a buzzing, a ringing, and then you just hear, This is a death slot. Your prowess with the sword will be tested here indeed.
00:12:30
Speaker
And the voice is drawn away. And the slard lunges forward with a snarl. And we're going to need some initiative orders. Hell yeah, we are. All two of us.

Overcoming Fear and Illusions

00:12:42
Speaker
All two. Mano and mano. 21. I mean, it rolled a four. A rolled a two, so. Brilliant. So this creature.
00:12:53
Speaker
snarls at you and starts to move towards you but you're ready for this, you know what's coming thanks to what Valinor's told you. Your sword is ready and you're ready to go so you're top of the round. What do you want to do? Okay Drago is going to rage with a smile on his face because he's in the heat of battle in a gladiator pit. He was born to do this, he feels that this is already the right path for him and he's very confident so he will rush forwards to meet this beast with a
00:13:23
Speaker
almost a war cry from his previous days with his family when they would take on the enemies of the town that he grew up in and a triumphant comes out of him as he rushes forward and he just dengons deception in hand swings down to go for a KO blow straight to the face. Okay. And as the sword comes down, down, down, down towards this creature, your sword is
00:13:53
Speaker
stopped what what what what is this magic and you hear again a buzzing in your ears and you hear a kiva to kill this creature you must not use that ability you must show your prowess without rage
00:14:18
Speaker
And the sword is released. The creature is pushed back a few steps and makes some long skid marks in the sand as it looks again towards you. You are raging if you want to be, but it's going to be his go first. That was kind of your turn done. Am I right in thinking that the buffs of rage are not happening? I don't get the buffs. You can.
00:14:41
Speaker
There's nothing to stop you. The voice of Akiva has just said, you must do this without rage. But you are still raging now because you said, I rage. So he is in the rage state. So it's up to you how you go about sorting that. Okay. The creature is going to start off with it just drops down onto its knees and you see it
00:15:05
Speaker
and you just see this white mist almost form over its body for a second as it kind of stands back up onto its onto its kind of high-legged ready and it seems to have just activated a spell of some kind on itself but it's standing perfectly still. Back over to you. Jago is still feeling the effects of rage and he's bouncing on the balls of his feet.
00:15:30
Speaker
And Drago goes to hit with the sword, Tengon's deception still raged. Okay. Roll to hit. So, 16. Okay. As the sword comes down, the creature brings him up at the last minute and pushes the weapon across to the side. Again, you hear a buzzing in your face. It's right in your ear as a voice again returns. You will not pass the test if you continue. You must cease being who you were.
00:16:00
Speaker
As the voice disappears again, the slide is going to take a swing at you with one of its large claws. That's a 24 to hit. That hits. Six points of slashing damage, so halved. It's three points of slashing damage.
00:16:20
Speaker
9 points of necrotic damage. As this hit comes across your right arm and on your side, you realise that the claws have this kind of icker on the end than this. You realise it's not a normal death slard. If there is such thing as a normal death slard, it seems to have been infected with the blight.
00:16:39
Speaker
Drago reels back as he's getting hit and feels the ichor across his chest as the claws dig in, Akiva's words echoing in his head.
00:16:55
Speaker
And Drago rushes forward again from the pain as it eats away at him and undercuts with the sword down from the ground up to the claw of the enemy. Okay, roll to hit. 15. Again, the weapon comes up and the creature deftly moves back just out of range as the weapon goes up. Again, you hear a buzzing in your ears followed by the voice. You will not pass, Drago!
00:17:25
Speaker
This will affect the trials. The death slide is going to step forward and then go for a bite. Oh, that was a natural 20. Six points of piercing damage that has been halved.
00:17:42
Speaker
And then it's going to, uh, no, that's all it's going to do. So it's going to do for now. And it's just going to be testing you to see what you're doing is kind of unsure as to why you're not attacking it. So it's kind of doing these little one two attacks and kind of backing off a little bit ready for your next move.
00:18:02
Speaker
And Dragha reaches one hand up to his head to try and quell the rage that's building up more and more each time the attack happens and then the voices enter his mind. And he tries to steady. But the rage is still hitting in so he will double down and hit again.
00:18:25
Speaker
but this time with a reckless attack. A true tried, old fashioned method of his.
00:18:34
Speaker
14, brilliant, wow. And you're hit again, you're kind of swinging in. This is just kind of barbarian style, raging, coming in over the top, kind of swinging your sword down on this creature. It easily steps to the side of this and just gives you a shove in the back as he pushes you out of the way. And again, another buzzing in your ears. Final warning, Drago, quell the voice.
00:19:00
Speaker
This will be your only aid. And as that buzzing dies away, you see this death slalade in front of you just suddenly and gets pushed back against the wall of the pit about 60 feet away from it's kind of pinned there.
00:19:19
Speaker
As it tries to break away, but something seems to be holding it back. That is the end of your turn. And it's its turn. It's going to try and break out. Only a natural 20 was going to make him break the hold of a Kiva. And he rolled a six. So unfortunately he's stuck. He's pinned there for that turn. Your turn. Drag his hand once again goes to his head as if he's got a migraine and he's trying to quell it.
00:19:48
Speaker
and he's taking deep breaths and he's trying to purge the images and the rage that's entering his mind and trying to quell the adrenaline that's coursing through his body as he remembers the reasons why he's doing this and various people enter his mind and he rests on one image of the... as the image of Graza enters his mind
00:20:17
Speaker
and he feels the adrenaline quit quicken and his heart beat faster. Then the image goes back to when Drago hit Grazgette with everything he had and failed. Just like he's failing now.
00:20:30
Speaker
and a flash of control starts to take over his mind. Drago drops down to one knee and he breathes deeper. The adrenaline starts to die down and that's Drago's whole tone as he's one knee down on the ground just breathing deep.
00:20:50
Speaker
Okay, thank you. Two things happen at once at this point. The death slide is released and falls to the sand and looks up towards you again. The next thing that happens is you feel this dark energy seeping through the ground, through the sand itself and a dark mist wraps around your left ankle and it works its way up, round, just a little bit. Moving up almost like a small snake up to your injuries on your left arm. The buzzing again.
00:21:20
Speaker
And you hear the voice of Akiva. Let's try this properly.

Confronting Fear of Failure

00:21:26
Speaker
Let's make it a fair fight. And he has healed the damage that's been done by the Death Slard. The Death Slard is going to charge forward towards you nonetheless. And now, newly enraged by what's just happened, it's going to swing at you for all it can.
00:21:44
Speaker
The first thing it's going to do is going to take two claw attacks at you. The first one is going to be a 21 against your armor class. That hits. The other is a 17. That hits.
00:21:55
Speaker
Does it? Yep. I'm not ranged anymore. Oh, shit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Totally, totally great. You take 10 points of slashing damage and seven points of necrotic damage as this creature with its two claws catch you across your back as you're still kind of kneeling down at this point as it then kind of stands up triumphantly high above you at this point with this claws high in the air. That's the end of its turn.
00:22:23
Speaker
Drago looks up, still kneeling on the ground, mind clear from the rage now as he's breathing deep and evenly. Fine, we'll do this your way. Drago quickly, as he's now on the ground, the foot that is embedded in the ground beneath him, his claws come out and pushes off
00:22:41
Speaker
to give him quick speed, rushes over to this demon, and just slices to his midsection. Cool, roll to hit. 20, not natural. Oh, very nice. Yeah, that hits. 14 points of slashing damage. Now my mind is clear, here's a second hit. And Draka goes in for the second hit as well. Nice, go, roll to hit. 25. Oh, yeah, that hits. Now you start rolling well. Funny that, isn't it? Rolling well.
00:23:08
Speaker
14 points of slashing damage. Lovely. So as these two hits come crashing into this creature, I imagine it's still got its claws up in the air, celebrating the fact that it really did some good damage to you. As you just come up, sword from low to high, up through the midsection, one, and then across the body, across the center portion of this creature, cutting through some of the spikes, cutting through the hardened skin underneath from its midsection.
00:23:32
Speaker
taking these two big hits, it kind of reels back away from you and the attack. This time it looks up at you and you can see its eyes, these two disgusting red eyes kind of roll back in its head for a second as it starts speaking. If you can imagine more in tongues than as it currently speaks, it's going to try and cast fear on you. And what it does is it casts an image that appears just in front of you that is your worst fear. And I think it's that of
00:24:01
Speaker
It's not an actual being, I think, for you, Drago, but for you, it's the sense of failure. I think you get this overwhelming sense that you have failed in everything you've tried to achieve, and that causes you to want to drop and flee and run away from this being straight away, okay? Could you make a wisdom saving throw, please? Crit. You're 20. We're a 20. 22 in total. 22.
00:24:24
Speaker
That's the first time in a long time that I've gone, come on, pass it, pass it, pass it, pass it, and you did. Awesome. Well, it was, I think it was a 14. No, 17. I don't know. I've lost it now. It's gone somewhere. Anyway, this sense of failure passes over you and maybe images of people you innately care about pass in front of your mind. The main reason why you'll hear that, to gain power and the fact that if you fail this failure means failure for everyone, failure for the realm, failure for you, failure for your honor.
00:24:50
Speaker
Flash through habit, you quickly manage to snap that away, even out of rage, this doesn't seem to affect you and the creature looks up annoyed at the fact that this doesn't work.

Victory and Environmental Shift

00:24:58
Speaker
That is the end of its turn. Over to you then, Drago. It's your turn, they've just tried fear, hasn't worked. What do you want to do? Drago steps back triumphantly, having felt the effects of fear just wash off him and will reply with intimidating presence of his own.
00:25:16
Speaker
Nice. And he just stands there, chest out, Tengon's deception in his hand, looking larger than ever. And I need this creature to make a wisdom saving throw of a DC 14. 12. There we go. So you are frightened until the end of my next turn. And I can use my action to extend the duration of this effect each turn, unless it moves out of line of sight or 60 feet away from you. OK, so you can then use instead of attacking, you could use your action to push it further away.
00:25:46
Speaker
Okay, and this creature suddenly eyes wide as it starts to panic and worry. Is that the end of your turn? Lovely. It's going to use all its time, all its energy to run in the opposite direction away from you as far as it can, triggering an attack of opportunity. So you can roll the hit.
00:26:05
Speaker
Drago's eyes flash with triumphant as the creature tries to make haste at a 22. Holy shit, yep that hits. 15 points of slashing damage as Drago brings his blade straight down with a flash as soon as the creature turned and moved.
00:26:22
Speaker
with incredible speed and agility, Drago swings his sword down to catch him. Nice. The creature makes its way away from you. The distance it can, it can move 30 feet away from you and it seems to be cowering away from you as far away as it can. It's still probably about 30 feet away from the pit wall, if you will. Back over to you, Drago, your turn.
00:26:46
Speaker
Drago walks over slowly, sword in hand. Don't try and frighten me again. And brings his blade. A thrust, just a straight thrust out in front of him. Okay, roll to hit. 23. Fuck yes, that hits. 16 points of slashing damage. Lovely, as the blade comes crashing down across it, it brings up one of its claws to protect it as you cut almost through it. Not quite though, but causing some massive damage to its left claw and left arm. You got another hit?
00:27:15
Speaker
For a second attack, Drago spins round with the blade 360 as he's brought it out from the hand of his previous hit. He just spins round and hits again at the same plane. 20. Oh, on that, correct. No, on that. Yeah, cool. That hits, yeah.
00:27:33
Speaker
this is crazy the rolls that have come ever since losing rage i know i i promise you listeners that this is legit this is legit rolling 11 points of slashing damage on this one now so the creature takes on a sense of its own again and is going to
00:27:50
Speaker
It's going to attack you. It's going to attack you now with both its claw. It's going to go hell for leather now. It's going to just kind of rage at you, so to speak. It's going to use its claws to begin with and that is a 28 against your armor class and then a 24 against your armor class for both the claw attacks. 14 points of slashing damage and
00:28:17
Speaker
five points of necrotic damage and then it's going to lean forward and try and bite at you bite at you with its mouth as well and that is going to be ah dog shit that's going to be 50 uh 14 against your armor class
00:28:29
Speaker
No, that misses. So as it snaps out to bite you, you manage to step back just at the last minute to get out of its range as it screams back at you with its voice as it's bleeding now from certain areas around the creature, as it looks towards you, the fear now broken, Drago, your turn. Drago steps back from the attack, feeling the hits now on his body. He has to steal his mind as the rage starts to threaten to overcome again. Breathe deep.
00:29:01
Speaker
Remember, I need this power. Rushes forward without rage and hits down with Dengon's deception. Okay, roll to hit. 26 to hit. Oh my god, yes. Crazy rolling, love it. 11 points of slashing damage. Lovely, you are nothing but consistent. And as the blade came from the top down into the ground, from the ground back up, the blade will hit again. I like it, roll to hit. At a 22.
00:29:29
Speaker
Oh my god, you've had nothing less than a 20 for like four rounds. That hits. 16 points of slashing damage at the return here. 16. Wow. You have, wow, that's a lot of damage recently. You are going to be starting to breathe a little bit heavier as the wounds are starting to tell. The creature, its eyes roll back in its head.

Reflections and Preparing for Next Test

00:29:48
Speaker
You're going to hear this.
00:29:49
Speaker
As it starts to chant something to itself, it's going to suddenly, in front of you, the creature splits into four different versions of itself in front of you. The one that was directly in front of you is now almost split into two, and there's two more either side of that as well. Identical, and as one moves, all move together. You cannot tell which the lead creature is of this. You've seen this before, once upon a time. This is mirror image.
00:30:17
Speaker
And the duplicates move and mimic the actions of the caster. It's impossible to track which image is real. What else do you need to know? Each time a creature targets the slard with an attack during its duration, I roll a d20 to determine whether the attack instead hits one of the duplicates. And I can tell you which hit it has...
00:30:42
Speaker
which creature you hit when that comes through it, okay? So now there's basically four of these death slides in front of you all copying the exact same motion as it moves, and it looks quite wounded actually as well as it kind of almost backs away slightly, but all four of them back away. That's the end of its turn. It's your turn, Drago.
00:30:58
Speaker
Dragga steps back from this and he takes in the scene, calm mind, calm mind, you got this, releases out, opens his mouth wide and the air around starts to crackle with ice and the temperature drops as he sends out dragon breath across all four from where he stands looking to freeze the actual one but hit all of them. Okay, roll two, hit.
00:31:23
Speaker
Oh no, you don't have to. Is it just a deck stage? Make a DC16 saving throw. That is uncanny. The three... Let me just check this. Duplicates AC. All four of the images, the duplicate images are destroyed. And the only one that remains is the deathslide, which is the one that's slightly off to your right in front of you.
00:31:45
Speaker
As the you breathe out this ice all through them will disappear and just the one takes the damage and actually does take the damage How much damage does the does it do it failed the it didn't do great on the roll? It's 10 points of ice damage. That's pretty damn good doesn't matter these have zero eight zero HP Anyway, yeah, just you get rid of the images about 10. That's that's that's that's good That's good as you see these ice shards
00:32:07
Speaker
hit into it and actually freezes and shuts one of the eyes as it kind of jeers away from you slightly. The Slards are going to take a swing at you and it's going to do the same thing. Two hits with its claws this time. 18 against, no sorry, 16 against your armor class and an 18 against your armor class. 12 points of slashing damage and 10 points of necrotic damage.
00:32:28
Speaker
Drago yells out at the necrotic damage as the poison starts to seep into his body, and he's more hunched over now, breathing deeper. Swords not held high towards the ground. That's the end of the slides tone, it's your turn.
00:32:49
Speaker
And rushes forward for a strike. 12 as he comes forward and slashes the sword across.

the angle which you bring it up from because the way you're holding it just means it's just nothing but air, it swings up and over, no one near the death slide, that misses. The sword is starting to feel slightly heavier for Drago now as he tries to refocus and swings again for an 11. That misses also, as the blade comes up and over, not even, the death slide doesn't even move at this point, at this attempt to swing at it, as unfortunately that hit also misses.
00:33:33
Speaker
I hear this chanting going on. It's going to try and cast fear on you again. So these images and thoughts of failure start to seep into your mind once again. Could you roll a wisdom? That's the one. Yeah. Wisdom saving for it, please. 19. Oh, nice. Well done. Okay. So again, you pass that as these feelings of dread and disregard and the loss of your family, et cetera. All those things start to enter into your mind. You manage to wipe it away despite not being raged at the creature.
00:33:51
Speaker
the death slide is going to again
00:34:02
Speaker
Looks angry at this continual attempt at fear. Continues to not work. Now that's the end of his turn. Drago, your turn. Breathing heavy. Drago's trying to stop his mind from betraying him. I don't have to rage! And lunges for an attack against the ankle of the enemy because the sword is getting very heavy.
00:34:23
Speaker
at 26. That hits. Nine points of slashing damage. Drago will carry the momentum of the swing and spin again as if he was doing a low kick with his foot but bring his blade across. Nice. Yeah, roll to hit. Hit the other foot at 26. Yes, that also hits. 13 points of slashing damage. Oh, it had 12 points of damage left and you kill it. So the way I imagine this happening is that he thinks he's kind of got you beat and the first low run of the blade catches the ankle kind of offhand style, taking one ankle out.
00:34:53
Speaker
and as you bring around your foot actually you kind of feign that and it kind of drops down to kind of avoid the hip but instead you bring the sword struck directly down through its head nailing it to the ground as the creature
00:35:06
Speaker
and silence forms and suddenly you hear a this kind of moaning groaning cheer from all around you as you remember that you're being surrounded by these these these these people these revelers watching you but as you look at them there's no one there and as you take the scene in it starts to fade and pass away and
00:35:26
Speaker
fall away from you and you again return to just darkness to begin with. You see the undulating blue shape in the distance which you remember from your time with Claude a while ago in the tavern when you first mentioned of your interest in working with Akiva. And all it says is you hear the buzz in your ear again and you hear
00:35:47
Speaker
to kill that which is dead is to learn to fight the very notion of fear is to grow and the the blue undulating thing disappears and the hard wooden floors return and you see the Githyanki stood directly in front of you again ah
00:36:15
Speaker
I see you're back. Oh, no. That was... That wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. Sit down, take a chair, and he brings one of the chairs over to you and pushes it under your feet. What was it? What did you face? And Drago collapses in onto the chair. Okay, thank you.
00:36:34
Speaker
No, I'm a Githyanki. Shit, I faced a toad. Fuck me. Toad? Of Toad Hall? Yeah. It's a death slard. I frisked a death slard. How did you fare? You seem alive. I won. I won. So you've passed and he smiles and grabs your shoulder. You passed the first test.
00:37:02
Speaker
Yeah, but I'm worse for wear of it. As far as I remember, this is the only one that involves your physical prowess and Akiva will heal any wounds that you faced in the Eternal Plane. That's good to know.
00:37:18
Speaker
Oh, okay. Okay. So first one done. Done. On to the next. And when will that will be? That could be now and that could be... Well, the very notion of time is, uh, changed here. I can't say for certain. We could be talking for seconds or we could be talking for years, but time here is different to time on the mortal plane. Time moves slower.
00:37:46
Speaker
Okay, that's all well and good, but I have places to be, and I don't have a lot of patience. Akiva, can we hurry this up?" as Drago speaks up to the void around him. As your voice echoes round this space to no avail, you turn back to Valinor, and he looks at you and solemnly shakes his head. That's the one they all pass, Drago. I wouldn't get too foolhardy.
00:38:16
Speaker
as he turns and sits back down the chair and leans his forehead upon the sword. The next trial of resolve will truly test you. As he leans his head down on his sword and those words enter and sink into what you have to in front of you, Drago.
