Episode 45: ‘Pet Sounds’ - The Beach Boys (1966)

‘We Still Believe In Brian’

A sure contender in every ‘Greatest Album Of All Time’ debate, The Beach Boys’ ‘Pet Sounds’ was a historic, compositional and technological masterpiece. Credited to the band, but (if we’re being honest!) a Brian Wilson solo album, Wilson was hugely inspired by The Beatles’ ‘Rubber Soul’ and, in response, strived to make the greatest Rock album of all time - and he might very well have succeeded!

With unusual chord voicings, harmonies and chord progressions, an unusual reliance on session musicians, autobiographical lyrics and technological innovations that would inspire others for years and years to come,  ‘Pet Sounds’ stands firm as one of the greatest albums of all time.

Laz & Felipe dive deep into the mind of Brian Wilson and this masterful release.
