Golf Course & Opening Day Confusion

00:00:16
Dewayne
So it's opening day today.
00:00:18
Todd
Oh, did Waveland Golf Course open?
00:00:21
Dewayne
but Actually, it's been open for a couple of weeks. I've already played there once. Thank you very much. It's awesome. The course is in great shape already. I am. And I am not.
00:00:31
Todd
How's the lights?
00:00:32
Dewayne
Yeah. Yeah. No, baseball opening day.
00:00:36
Dewayne
Yeah. it will be
00:00:38
Todd
Man, i almost I almost missed it.
00:00:40
Dewayne
Yeah. I didn't realize it until earlier today when my dad said it. I didn't see any ads on TV to remind me.

MLB on Netflix

00:00:48
Todd
Oh, like I can tell you why. I'm going to give you three guesses. Dwayne, guess a network TV thing. Three guesses. Where can you watch opening night for Major League Baseball on TV? Go.
00:01:01
Dewayne
i Uh, how about ESPN?
00:01:04
Todd
Good guess, but no.
00:01:06
Dewayne
Traditional baseball home? No, of course not. Why would it be on a traditional best baseball home? Uh, how about CBS? That feels like a CBS thing.
00:01:15
Todd
Right after Matlock, Major League Baseball. No, except, nope, that's not it.
00:01:23
Dewayne
Yeah. NCIS Matlock. Is that how that works? Is that?
00:01:26
Todd
Yeah, sure.
00:01:26
Dewayne
No, no. Sure. Okay. What about, ye was it on Peacock?
00:01:33
Todd
Oh, they wish. Nope. Here's the answer. It's on Netflix.
00:01:39
Dewayne
Are you sure? Because that doesn't sound right. I'm like, it's all right.
00:01:42
Todd
Yep. Nope. Nope. It's on. It's opening nights. Yankees, Giants on Netflix.
00:01:49
Dewayne
Well, that's typical baseball strategy. Make sure the only people that want to watch baseball can't watch baseball.

Criticism of MLB Streaming Choices

00:01:55
Dewayne
As a Royals fan, as a Royals fan, it's all I want to do is watch baseball and I can't watch baseball.
00:01:55
Todd
No, no, no. It's...
00:02:02
Todd
it's It's perfect. I mean, baseball is mostly watched by older people with a lot of time on their hands. So put it the one place that they have traditionally flocked for entertainment, streaming apps.
00:02:14
Dewayne
Hey, it could be worse.
00:02:15
Todd
How could this be worse?
00:02:17
Dewayne
At least it's not on Tubi.
00:02:42
Dewayne
Hi, Toddler.

Introduction to 'Talking to Todd'

00:02:43
Dewayne
Welcome to Talking to Todd, weekly podcast with Dwayne Johnson and Todd Prins, where failure is always an option. Thanks for joining us. Hey, Todd.
00:02:51
Todd
Hey, how's it going?
00:02:53
Dewayne
Pretty good. Pretty good. How are you?
00:02:55
Todd
Not too bad. Not too bad. I'm now realizing that cold open, we we managed to insult a large group a large number of groups of people, right? Baseball fans, older people, Matlock fans, the one person that's a fan of Peacock,
00:03:11
Todd
and probably the the the the guy that programs Major League Baseball.
00:03:19
Dewayne
let me Let me ask you this. Are any of those people in our regular cadre of several dozen listeners that we annoy on a semi-regular basis?
00:03:32
Todd
Well, we're goingnna we're going to find out.
00:03:33
Dewayne
I guess we are.
00:03:34
Todd
we We are going to find out.
00:03:37
Dewayne
me Mediocrity, one dozen at a time. That's us. Here we go Anyway, let's see. Feedback, follow-up and updates. What

Listener Feedback & March Madness Updates

00:03:43
Dewayne
do we got here?
00:03:43
Todd
Yes. Nothing on my side.
00:03:46
Dewayne
Nothing from toddler number one. i did i did get a note from Doug of the idiot idiot toddlers, educated idiots.
00:03:48
Todd
Okay.
00:03:56
Dewayne
It's not, I mean, educated idiots isn't a thing anymore.
00:03:56
Todd
Yes.
00:03:59
Dewayne
I mean, it's still you can still go out and listen to their catalog. I think it's still online. I say that. i don't know. Anyway, Doug.
00:04:07
Todd
Yeah, but but but here's the thing.
00:04:07
Dewayne
doug
00:04:08
Todd
Just because it's not it's not a thing, I mean, you know, you don't go, oh, there goes Brian May Astrophys. Well, I guess they're still touring. But I mean, hey, there's Paul McCartney, you know, from the Beatles, even though they're not a thing.
00:04:20
Todd
So, so I mean, admittedly, it's kind of when he peaked. I don't know, Doug, if you're claiming idiot toddlers is when you peaked. That's a whole other conversation. But anyway, please continue.
00:04:30
Dewayne
I'm just going to say Doug is more like Paul McCartney from Wings.
00:04:36
Todd
Okay.
00:04:39
Todd
we're going to have some stuff to clean up next week.
00:04:39
Dewayne
Sorry. Anyway,
00:04:43
Dewayne
i got so i got I got this text from Doug regarding last week's Todd out of No on the Kinsey Bridge incident.
00:04:46
Todd
Yep.
00:04:54
Todd
Yes.
00:04:55
Dewayne
And he says, Todd, colon, Long explanation. Fit for cinema involving the Dave Matthews Band. Am I right? Dwayne.
00:05:07
Dewayne
Nope. Poop.
00:05:13
Dewayne
And I wrote back, Doug captures the essence of the pod in four lines.
00:05:20
Todd
Ugh.
00:05:22
Dewayne
Yep. There it is. Yep. Yep, is it? Yeah, anyway, thanks, Doug. Always appreciate hearing from you. From toddler number six, David Batchelder.
00:05:35
Dewayne
Also, Dave Matthews band content. Why would we turn the rivers green when we can just turn them brown? I was screaming at my phone because I knew the answer to Todd Audenow.
00:05:51
Dewayne
I don't know how he knew the answer. Maybe maybe maybe the little TikTok feed that hit my feed hit his feed. I don't know. Maybe. i don't know. Also, he was listening to the pod while he was in the pickup line at school and in particular listening to that exact story.
00:06:11
Dewayne
And the car in front of him had a Dave Matthews Band logo on the back of the car. True story.
00:06:18
Todd
Hmm. Okay. Okay. i i would stay the way i would stay away from the back end of anything that has Dave Matthews associated with it, just given the story. Just, I would...
00:06:29
Dewayne
Absolutely valid point.
00:06:31
Todd
Yeah.
00:06:34
Dewayne
Yep.
00:06:34
Todd
i By the way, i was really...
00:06:34
Dewayne
Were they were they working on it for the parked on bridge? No. Okay.
00:06:37
Todd
I was really waiting for you to say, and David knew that because he was on that boat. Now that...
00:06:47
Todd
And here's the thing.
00:06:47
Dewayne
oh
00:06:47
Todd
If he had said that, could we check it? Probably not.
00:06:51
Dewayne
no
00:06:54
Dewayne
Let's see, a few pieces of follow up the want to give updated standings on the March Madness bracket.
00:07:02
Todd
Do we have to?
00:07:04
Dewayne
Well, you may want to.
00:07:06
Todd
Okay.
00:07:08
Dewayne
Because in the Talking to Todd pool. In first place, with 51 points, my buddy Mark Jansen, who's one of my reffing partners. In second place, my Aunt Marsha and Chad Hippen, tied at 50.
00:07:27
Dewayne
And then Wardo's wife, Karen, at 49 in fourth place. And then there's a tie for fifth place, Brandon Hamilton and my Aunt Marsha's second bracket. And I thought we were only allowed one bracket. I don't know how that happened. But anyway, Aunt Marsha has two in there and they're both in the top 10.
00:07:45
Dewayne
My father is in eighth place, along with Jake Hansen and Danny and Greg and Ward.
00:07:52
Todd
and that's where we And that's where we cut it off, at the top 10.
00:07:52
Dewayne
or good
00:07:55
Todd
There's no need to talk about anything beyond the top 10.
00:07:56
Dewayne
if prompt Yep, because, well,
00:08:01
Dewayne
we can talk more about it if you want to, because you're in 16th place. Yeah.
00:08:06
Todd
That's the highest I've been the entire time. I think I started at 49th out of 22. I don't know how that happened.
00:08:14
Dewayne
Well, and the official talking to Todd bracket that we decided with is just going to be random.
00:08:17
Todd
Yeah.
00:08:19
Dewayne
It's just, as I just clicked absolute random and it randomly assigned.
00:08:19
Todd
Yes.
00:08:23
Dewayne
It has 30 points. It is in last place at 22.
00:08:27
Todd
Okay.
00:08:29
Dewayne
I am in next to last place by myself at 21. Now I still have all final four teams alive. So I can still, I can't, I probably can't win.
00:08:38
Todd
You can make it come back. You can make it come back. Yep. This is still...
00:08:43
Dewayne
but I may not finish last.
00:08:49
Dewayne
here's the Here's the other thing.
00:08:50
Todd
Todd, Todd, well, wait, toddlers.
00:08:51
Dewayne
Go ahead.
00:08:52
Todd
Now you understand why we do the funny talking to Todd bracket is because we kind of suck at this. So if we make a funny ha ha bracket, we know we're going to at least we should at least beat somebody. And most years, that's not a problem.
00:09:03
Todd
And this year it's like, I don't know if this was a good idea.
00:09:08
Dewayne
The only... So there are two brackets that I care about. This one. And the McFadden family bragging rights pool that we have done for the last 15 years, don't know, whatever. as long We've been doing it a long time. We used to do it by paper. Now we've done the CBS pool forever. And in the bragging rights pool, yours truly is in first place. And that's the one that I'm putting my money on. I am 11 points better in that pool than in the talking to Todd pool. If I had just copied and pasted
00:09:44
Dewayne
I would be tied for first with Mark Jansen.
00:09:47
Dewayne
But no, I had to get cute. I had to get smart. I had to use my, no, I did not.
00:09:54
Todd
No, no, what you were doing was you were hedging, right? Because now this is this is this is a very complex financial kind of term, right? Because if you had two identical but brackets and they and they both go bad, see, you've doubled your chances of doing well here by having a good bracket and then our bracket. Right.
00:10:16
Dewayne
That's that that's that's a good a good bracket and a chip bracket is what that is. That's exactly what that is.
00:10:26
Todd
Do you submit one of them Dave Matthews Band brackets?
00:10:41
Dewayne
Let's see, where

USA Track & Field Mishap

00:10:42
Dewayne
were we? What else did we have? Other pieces of follow-up, yes.
00:10:44
Todd
Oh. Yeah. So, hey, a couple weeks ago, we covered the USA Track and Fields National Championship for the Women's Half Marathon in Atlanta, where there were three people out leading. And then the thee follow me motorcycle went off course and took the three leaders off course. And they ended up finishing ninth, 11th and 12th. And USA Track and Field, there was a request to name them the winners because they would get slots to go to the world championships. And USA Track and Field said, yeah, we feel terrible about this. That's bad. But nothing in our rules allows us to give to give them those spots.
00:11:24
Todd
Well, that then went that story has made it all its sorry has made all of the way up to the to World Athletics, which is the supervising body over the net over the World Championships.
00:11:39
Dewayne
Right?
00:11:40
Todd
And they said, well, we feel really bad about that. And that's really unfortunate. So for this year and this year only, instead of the United States getting to submit four athletes to the World Championships,
00:11:54
Todd
World Athletics said the USA can send seven people to the world championships. They've made us they've made three additional spots for the three people who should have gotten it and said, you know what, we can take care of this. And I'm thinking, you know, we make fun of a lot of international, although it's it's usually the ones that make a lot of money. I don't think World Athletics is like pouring in the billions of dollars from track meets.
00:12:18
Todd
But whereas USA track and field said, I don't know, I looked through the rule book, we can't fix this. And world athletics get said, you know what, here you go. well just We'll take care of it.
00:12:28
Dewayne
Rulebook. Yeah, sure. Why not?
00:12:31
Todd
Yeah, so anyway, good good story there. On the other hand, I would also hope that world athletics for the world championship is like, okay, hey, pilot cars, everybody, we we gotta stay on the course.
00:12:44
Dewayne
You know, typically we take that kind of story and we put it in as a palate cleanser after idiots of the week. That's a really nice story.
00:12:54
Todd
Yeah, yeah. Well, it was a pre-palate cleanser. Do you remember about a year ago, I talked about how Vizio, the TV manufacturing company, was bought by Walmart?

Vizio TVs & Walmart Account Frustration

00:13:05
Dewayne
Yes.
00:13:07
Todd
And everybody like, oh, this this can't be this can't be good. Yep. So starting this week, people are finding that certain models of brand new Vizio TVs, when you bring them home,
00:13:19
Todd
When you go to set them up, you can't even set up, you can't set the TV up until you log into your TV with your Walmart account.
00:13:29
Dewayne
Nope, hard stop.
00:13:31
Todd
Yep.
00:13:31
Dewayne
Box it back up, right back it goes. Nope, nope, no thank you.
00:13:34
Todd
Yeah. Now customers who already have Vizio accounts are being given the option to merge their Vizio account with their Walmart account, you know,
00:13:46
Dewayne
Nope, don't want to do that either.
00:13:48
Todd
Yeah. And again, the reason for all of this is is that Walmart needs you to sign in so that they can provide you extra value with with unique and personalized shopping experiences on your TV.
00:14:01
Todd
Yeah.
00:14:01
Dewayne
I just want to watch Matlock. Oh,
00:14:06
Todd
Where's the baseball? I just can't find... Ooh, Murder, She Wrote.
00:14:09
Dewayne
oh
00:14:09
Todd
just I haven't seen this one in a while. Nobody has. Nobody's seen that one in a while. Okay, so there's that. And then the last one that I brought is... Oh, so three or... so Six months ago, I was recommending on YouTube.
00:14:28
Todd
Well, i was so I was actually recommending it. On YouTube, there was a Stormtrooper parody blog, TK42 Greg, Keep Your Boots Dry.
00:14:35
Dewayne
Yeah, yeah.
00:14:36
Todd
Yeah, loved it. it was it was It was very good. Anyway, and then i think in December, Disney announced that they were they were granting all of their IP rights online.
00:14:49
Dewayne
Yes.
00:14:49
Todd
to open AI to their Sora video platform and on the same day sent a cease and desist letter to Google to make sure that none of Disney's IP was being used on YouTube unless it was generated through Sora.
00:15:07
Todd
They also announced that they were going to invest a billion dollars into a into OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT.
00:15:07
Dewayne
Right.
00:15:14
Todd
Anyway, yesterday, OpenAI surprisingly announced, by the way, Sora's dead. we're we're We're moving our focus. And we know that it was a surprise.
00:15:26
Todd
Because the people who work on Sora didn't know before the press release came out, including their safety team had released an updated version of the Sora safety guidelines the previous day. Then the CEO comes out and says, yeah, we just killed that product.
00:15:41
Todd
So that thing that was popular for like three weeks, everybody said this is going to kill Hollywood. And then Disney's like, I'll give you a billion dollars so you can use my IP, which I don't understand. I guess going that up on volume. I don't know.
00:15:57
Todd
Not a business guy. Yeah, that whole thing is dead now. The product's dead. The deal's off. Money never changed hands. It was all basically just a, like, they never invested. I don't know what's going on. Anyway, all I care about now is where's TK42 Greg? I want him back, and I want him on the air as of tomorrow because if this is dead, I need i need to know how to keep my boots dry. So where' where's he at?
00:16:21
Todd
Anyway, there you go. Another follow-up. How about you? do you bring anything else for follow-up?
00:16:26
Dewayne
Speaking of AI, this is follow up to the March Madness brackets. Did you did you see that some ingenious person taught
00:16:30
Todd
Okay.
00:16:39
Dewayne
ChatGPT and Claude in Gemini how to analyze a bracket and pick a March Madness bracket?
00:16:48
Todd
Okay.
00:16:49
Dewayne
And if it makes you feel any better, it won't. If it makes you feel any better, when first presented with this problem, they didn't know how to do it and didn't understand the point of a bracket.
00:16:59
Todd
Sure.
00:17:04
Dewayne
And then with more coaching and more data, it's not.
00:17:07
Todd
Eventually became Skynet. Oh, sorry.
00:17:13
Dewayne
They, this ingenious person, fed this data in and kicked out a bracket and then anonymously entered these brackets into the Wall Street Journal challenge, bracket challenge.
00:17:28
Todd
Okay.
00:17:29
Dewayne
Claude is winning.
00:17:31
Todd
Way to go, Dino Toddler. I'm assuming it was him.
00:17:37
Dewayne
And all of them, for the record, are beating most of the people, like more than half, right?
00:17:46
Dewayne
Yeah. now i I want, we've said this before, I want the robots to do my laundry. I want the robots to mow my lawn. I want the robots to do things that I don't like to do. I like doing this.
00:18:02
Todd
You're not good at it, but you like doing it.
00:18:03
Dewayne
no. Well, sometimes I'm good at it.
00:18:06
Todd
Sometimes you are.
00:18:06
Dewayne
Sometimes I'm not.
00:18:06
Todd
Sometimes.
00:18:07
Dewayne
it did feed Right.
00:18:07
Todd
Yeah.
00:18:08
Dewayne
Yes.
00:18:09
Dewayne
But I,
00:18:09
Todd
Yeah.
00:18:14
Todd
Yeah, cool. it's Taking all the good stuff. That's great. Now I have more time to mow the lawn because I'm not doing my brackets. I've been looking, by the way, and I haven't found anything yet. I was so desperately looking for a story to bring that I was really hoping I was going to be able to tell you Good news.
00:18:32
Todd
Earlier today, i just dropped $1,000 on Calci because I have a good feeling that North Carolina is going to win their game.
00:18:44
Todd
Now, has that game already taken place? Yes, it has. Did they lose? Absolutely. Was it so bad of a loss they fired their coach? Yes. But Calci still says that there is a 1% chance this could go different. No, it doesn't. But I was hoping maybe I could make some money off of this. Turns out I couldn't find that story yet.
00:19:05
Todd
I'm working on it. Markets are fine. Everything's fine.
00:19:12
Todd
Speaking of fine, what's next?
00:19:15
Dewayne
Oh. Oh.
00:19:21
Todd
So, yes.
00:19:31
Dewayne
That sound means it's time for America's favorite game. That's right. It's time for Dwayne guess a number. Todd, what do you got?
00:19:40
Todd
Okay. So I was listening to 99% Invisible podcast and they were talking about the traffic control system in the city of l LA.

Guessing Game: Iowa vs LA Roadways

00:19:50
Todd
I know sounds riveting. And they were talking about that the city of l la has 17,000 miles roads, just the city of LA, 17,000 miles of roads.
00:19:59
Todd
just the city of l a seventeen thousand miles of roads And I thought, that's pretty good Dwayne guess a number. So then I went and looked. I'm like, what's their source?
00:20:09
Dewayne
you.
00:20:09
Todd
And I couldn't find it and I couldn't find it. And I'm like, OK, you know what? What source can I find? And I'm like, Dwayne's been to L.A. He's been there quite a bit, but he doesn't know L.A.
00:20:17
Dewayne
Thank you.
00:20:19
Todd
as well as he knows Iowa. So Dwayne, according to iowadot.gov, how many miles of roadway does the entire state of Iowa have, including those owned by the state, the counties, the cities, and inside of park and institution roads?
00:20:42
Todd
Probably not counting private.
00:20:47
Dewayne
Are we counting the gravel?
00:20:49
Todd
I would assume, it says, this it says miles of roadway.
00:20:51
Dewayne
Or is it miles of is it miles of paved road?
00:20:57
Dewayne
Okay, because miles of paved road is a different thing out here.
00:21:01
Todd
Yeah. Yeah. Based on these numbers, I think they're including the gravel.
00:21:07
Dewayne
Okay.
00:21:09
Todd
And by the way, I'm just going to set this city, the city of Los Angeles, 17,000 miles.
00:21:16
Dewayne
Well,
00:21:26
Todd
All you have to do is count.
00:21:33
Dewayne
damn 99 counties. Yeah. Okay.
00:21:40
Todd
And LA ain't one. OK, sorry. No, that's not. That's.
00:21:54
Dewayne
More than four? More than four.
00:21:58
Todd
four Four miles?
00:21:59
Dewayne
Yes, that's see? Yes, that's what I'm saying. Yeah.
00:22:02
Todd
Yes. I'm well aware of at least 70 miles.
00:22:11
Dewayne
and Let's say 750,000 miles of roadway.
00:22:18
Todd
you You overshot there, Tex.
00:22:20
Dewayne
Oh, okay. Wow.
00:22:22
Todd
Yeah. Yeah.
00:22:23
Dewayne
Okay. By a bunch, like by a full Duane?
00:22:26
Todd
Oh, by a lot.
00:22:29
Dewayne
Do we have 150,000 road and in...
00:22:33
Todd
OK, you almost got a bell for that. Total miles of roadway is 115,064 of roadway. thousand sixty four miles of roadway
00:22:44
Dewayne
I, given how far off I was on my first guess, there is no humanly possible version that gets me a bell on my second guess.
00:22:47
Todd
okay
00:22:56
Dewayne
I could have been off by a hundred miles and I wouldn't have deserved a bell based on how far my gift first guess was.
00:23:04
Todd
Now, I'm going to point out, you take 115,064 miles and you divide it by the 17,000 miles that are just in the city of L.A., Iowa has 6.7 times, the entire state of Iowa has 6.7 times the number of miles as Los Angeles alone.
00:23:27
Todd
So, okay, good news. I'm not following the rules of the game. I brought a second one, mostly because it's on the same page.
00:23:39
Todd
So this is going to help you recover. It's not. But I like to think of that. OK. OK. Those roads cross bridges.
00:23:51
Todd
Dwayne, how many bridges does the state of Iowa have?
00:23:59
Dewayne
Let's see. Well, that like Todd Bridges moved out. So it's whatever that number is minus one.
00:24:04
Todd
Minus one. Yeah, there we go. Okay, sure. You got all those in Madison County. You better keep track of.
00:24:09
Dewayne
Yep, all nine of them. got do we count those? Because you can't drive on them, but they are bridges. do do you count Do you count the footbridge in the Music Man?
00:24:18
Todd
Unclear.
00:24:20
Dewayne
Because that's in ma that's in Mason City.
00:24:24
Todd
Unclear. It just says this is Iowa DOT, so I'm guessing these are road bridges. So the swinging bridge probably doesn't count, but the rest of the bridges in Iowa do, if Iowa DOT is keeping track.
00:24:32
Dewayne
OK, that's fair. OK.
00:24:37
Todd
And that's supporting 115,000 roads.
00:24:40
Dewayne
And we have we have a ton of rivers and creeks in the state.
00:24:48
Todd
yes
00:24:51
Dewayne
I'm going to say... I'm going to say that there is a bridge, one bridge every four miles?
00:24:59
Dewayne
Four miles? which would be 28,750. That's what i'm going with. i used a calculator to divide four myself? Hold on. Okay.
00:25:12
Dewayne
do math i'm going to go with twenty eight thousand seven hundred and fifty bridges in the state of iowa
00:25:18
Todd
You know what? I'm going to let you... Give yourself a bell. Eh.
00:25:21
Dewayne
wow really ive redeemed myself hold on
00:25:27
Todd
the actual The actual...
00:25:28
Dewayne
right
00:25:30
Todd
Sorry, I can't use that because if I was using that, you wouldn't win because you went over.
00:25:31
Dewayne
can't use
00:25:35
Todd
But the actual number 23,684. So you were close. mean...
00:25:43
Todd
so you were close i mean Given that just random, that, by the way, that equates to a bridge for every 4.86, 4.86 miles of road. You're at 4.86. Yes. Yeah.
00:25:55
Todd
six four point eight six miles of road you're at four point eight six
00:26:02
Dewayne
If I had gone, if I had divided it by five, would have been under without going over and I would have won Bob Barker.
00:26:07
Todd
yes
00:26:09
Dewayne
But I i think but if you count all of the bridges on the bike trails, like the high trestle bridge and all, yeah i think I think we would definitely get to my number if you counted all the bike trail bridges.
00:26:22
Dewayne
Just say it.
00:26:24
Todd
Hey, if we played a different game, I would have won. I'm just saying.
00:26:29
Dewayne
If I had used a different the different bracket in my bracket, I would... Never mind. Okay.
00:26:36
Todd
Anyway. All right. Well, there you go. That's how well Dwayne knows the the roads of I. I assumed you would do pretty good on this because given the 3000 miles of driving that you had to do this season alone, you've seen quite a bit of 15, 115,000 miles of roads.
00:26:54
Dewayne
3,700. Thank you very little. Yes.
00:26:55
Todd
Okay. All right.
00:26:57
Dewayne
We had... We officially put in our request to our assigner this for this next season that if we could stay closer to home this next year, we would really appreciate that kindly, sir. If you don't mind, we would really like to stay closer to home anyway.
00:27:16
Dewayne
Uh, let's see. So the thing that I brought this week, did you know
00:27:20
Dewayne
this came to us courtesy of Lucas?

Bitcoin Water Heater Concept

00:27:22
Todd
Okay. Hey, Lucas. He doesn't listen.
00:27:25
Dewayne
He,
00:27:27
Dewayne
Did you know that you could install in your house a Bitcoin water heater?
00:27:35
Todd
Is that just a PC that's mining Bitcoin that exhaust goes right into your water? heat goes into a tank of water to heat your water.
00:27:43
Dewayne
This is an innovative appliance that uses the waste heat from specialized built-in Bitcoin mining chips to heat domestic water.
00:27:53
Todd
Yeah. Yeah.
00:27:56
Todd
yep
00:27:57
Dewayne
Units function as a standard 50-gallon electric heater while mining cryptocurrency, potentially covering up to 80% of those energy costs earned through Bitcoin. Todd, passive income gained from the superheat which was featured at CES 2026.
00:28:19
Dewayne
How much? Todd, how much do you think you can generate in Bitcoin in a year from a Bitcoin water heater? Time for Todd, guess a number.
00:28:28
Todd
32 cents.
00:28:31
Dewayne
$1,000 in Bitcoin.
00:28:34
Todd
I, no, no, no. Once again, wait, let me check my notes. No.
00:28:42
Dewayne
Todd, how much is the cost of that superheat H1?
00:28:49
Todd
It's got a GPU chip in it. It goes up by the day. $15,000.
00:28:53
Dewayne
Just right now, it's it according to Gemini, $2,000 was the price tag that was announced at CES. So there are three other companies that are producing and offering these. HeatBit provides a smaller air-based space heater that mines Bitcoin.
00:29:15
Todd
That's, it's just a computer. It's just a computer with the exhaust fan. That's not a, it's not.
00:29:26
Dewayne
I brought this just for this reaction.
00:29:29
Todd
That's not that a crypto thing. It's just a computer that runs hot. And by the way, just just you know how much energy those?
00:29:41
Todd
Plugging in an actual space heater will take less energy than what you are using your Bitcoin space heater for.
00:29:54
Dewayne
I don't know if my idiot is the people manufacturing them or the people buying them thinking that they're going to earn $1,000 in a year on this thing.
00:30:03
Dewayne
But, you know.
00:30:04
Todd
Here's the thing. If those are out at CES, historically CES is where 90% of the things that are announced there never actually ship.
00:30:14
Todd
People are like, that's cool.
00:30:14
Dewayne
That's fair.
00:30:15
Todd
And then they walk away three minutes later. That might be one of the stupidest things I've ever seen now that i think about it.
00:30:22
Todd
And they're not just talking about the rat tunnels.
00:30:22
Dewayne
that's that That's what I brought.
00:30:24
Todd
Anyway, because that's in Vegas. Not Vegas. Anyway.
00:30:29
Dewayne
What did you bring for the Scott Frost Memorial Idiot of the Week this week?

Intoxalock Hack Issues

00:30:32
Todd
Okay, so so we just got done talking about Iowa and roads. And then this one came across, which also is an Iowa story, but this is this is relating to an Iowa company has managed to make people across the United States not be able to use the roads. So there is in Des Moines a company called Intoxaloc,
00:30:58
Dewayne
Yes.
00:31:00
Dewayne
No.
00:31:00
Todd
You recognize that too quickly, if I'm really clear. Speaking from the guy who brought the water for the thing.
00:31:03
Dewayne
Because.
00:31:06
Todd
Yeah.
00:31:10
Dewayne
Our buddy Joel Strawn used to work for Intoxalock.
00:31:13
Todd
Oh, OK. All right.
00:31:15
Dewayne
And that is how I know that.
00:31:17
Todd
Okay. Until he came home was gone. Anyway, different story. Okay. So, you know what? That's that's in the members only special.
00:31:28
Todd
and
00:31:29
Dewayne
so Sometimes kids are the best thing that can come out of a marriage.
00:31:32
Todd
Wow. Anyway, hope Joel's doing well.
00:31:33
Dewayne
hold Hold on.
00:31:36
Dewayne
Okay, sorry. That was a rabbit hole. I so i apologize.
00:31:37
Todd
Okay.
00:31:38
Dewayne
Please, where were we?
00:31:41
Todd
Anyway, Intoxilocks. So I think most people understand this is an interlock so that if you get if you get convicted of a DUI or DWI, depending on where you're at, you have to you have to blow into the tube and show that you're you're not drunk so you can start your car.
00:31:58
Todd
The devices can only be leased.
00:31:58
Dewayne
It's
00:32:00
Todd
I don't know why you'd want to buy. The the story says they can only be leased. Well, yeah. No, you know what? I think I'm to buy one of these because I'm going to have it for a while. Like, that's not a good look. Anyway.
00:32:08
Dewayne
it's way cheaper. This is an investment for me.
00:32:10
Todd
yeah Yeah. Yeah. Although it does say it costs around $70 $120 per month to lease. so wo anyway. so
00:32:19
Dewayne
Well, and it's a court-ordered thing.
00:32:21
Todd
Yeah, yeah.
00:32:21
Dewayne
Yeah.
00:32:23
Todd
Okay, so the way this works, according to Ars Technica, is every time you go to start the car, you have to blow in it, and you have to show that you can, that you're not, yeah your blood alcohol level is below the limit.
00:32:36
Todd
But once it starts after that, you're not done with the device, then it generates random tests while you drive, And you had better not miss one of the random tests because the beep goes off. You have between three to 15 minutes to clear the test again, which is supposed to give you time to pull over and, as this says, blow again. If you ignore or fail the random test, the car won't stop, but your horn and lights may activate, signaling you to pull over and turn off the car. You know, Waymo parking lot style. And then depending on your state's regulations, you may enter a temporary lockout.
00:33:14
Todd
Okay. Then, on go ahead.
00:33:18
Dewayne
Well, one, you keep saying you, you have to blow into the thing. i i have heard
00:33:29
Todd
m
00:33:31
Dewayne
what what you should have said there was someone in the car has to be able to blow that.
00:33:33
Todd
Someone in someone in the car someone in the car has to do this.
00:33:39
Dewayne
don't No judgments on anybody. Just get, anyway. Inappropriate, but yet someone has to, yes, anyway.
00:33:49
Todd
Yes. Now, on top of all of that, by the way, they recommend that you, quote, keep your radio volume low and your windows up to make sure that you can hear the device beep while you're driving to do the random test.
00:34:04
Todd
OK. You do all of that. And then on top of that, the users also have to have the devices calibrated about once a month at a local service center. And if you miss your calibration window, the device also locks you out of using your car.
00:34:21
Todd
Okay, that's the plan. Run out of this from from this this company in Des Moines. That's great.
00:34:29
Todd
Right until they get hacked. which happened to them.
00:34:34
Dewayne
oh yet Oh, no.
00:34:36
Todd
The databases and the backend systems supporting the entire thing, they were like they got hit in an attack on March 14th. That made calibration impossible which meant that some users in every state, even when they went to the service center, were not allowed to calibrate on time, which could mean having their vehicles immobilized.
00:35:04
Todd
The company told a Connecticut media outlet that 7% to 10% of users in the state had been affected. That's OK. Only 7% to 10% of our customers can no longer use their car.
00:35:17
Todd
That's fine. They then went on to say that it had authorized local service centers to grant a 10-day calibration extension However, those don't work on all of their devices and actually are illegal to do in certain states.
00:35:34
Todd
In addition, Intoxalox said the company would pay all user costs, including towing fees that are a direct result of temporary system pause, meaning if your car shut down in a place that you weren't supposed to park and you can't start it again and your car gets towed,
00:35:53
Todd
they'll take care of that. Now that hack happened on March 14th. On March 20th, the company's systems were still down. At this time, we need to extend the pause through Sunday, March 22nd. On March 22nd, the company finally announced our systems have resumed and the installations and calibrations were both possible again.
00:36:10
Todd
So once again, you're gonna take control of everybody's car. Like you you kind of have to not let this happen. Like it's it's super important. And I understand
00:36:22
Todd
Companies will be targeted. Malicious actors are trying to cause all sorts of problems. But at no point did they ever say, hey, you know, what happens if we can't, like, do any of this? That'll never happen.
00:36:35
Dewayne
Not a problem.
00:36:36
Todd
Hey, Joe, our IT guy, why are you looking so sad? What? Anyway, way to go and talk to locks. Instead of locking, they locked people out of their cars and got locked out of their own systems. Okay.
00:36:49
Dewayne
You said joe our IT guy.
00:36:53
Todd
Yes.
00:36:54
Dewayne
You should have actually said Joel. Because that's what he did at Intoxi. Again, for the record, he is no longer there, no longer employed by that company. He does something else now. But yes.
00:37:16
Dewayne
You're welcome.
00:37:17
Todd
Do you have any travel stories? you were You were in Atlanta.
00:37:19
Dewayne
I...
00:37:20
Todd
How were the wings?
00:37:23
Dewayne
I did not get the wings.

Atlanta TSA Line Woes

00:37:26
Dewayne
I got a burger. Oh, I mean, i didn't know.
00:37:31
Dewayne
i said, i think I said when we recorded from Waymo, I was from Atlanta. I was planning to Waymo back to the airport on Friday.
00:37:39
Todd
Yes.
00:37:41
Dewayne
That did not happen because i i needed to take my trade show gear and ship it out.
00:37:52
Dewayne
And in order to do that, I needed to haul it from the hotel to the nearest FedEx office, which was only about five blocks away.
00:38:03
Dewayne
But I needed to order an Uber XL, so that I could fit all of the shipping crates into the back of this guy's Suburban and get them over to FedEx. I also needed the assistance of the Uber driver who I tipped really well in order to get all of this. But if I had called the Waymo, A, nothing would have fit, and B, the robot car can't help me load anything into it. So i long story short, I did not Waymo. Yes?
00:38:36
Dewayne
Yes.
00:38:37
Todd
I can solve that problem for you.
00:38:38
Dewayne
Okay.
00:38:39
Todd
You get to FedEx. It's so easy. You take the Waymo. You get to FedEx. Then you leave the door open.
00:38:49
Todd
Somebody is going to be paid between $11 and $22 to show up and close the door. And when they get there, they so you say, hey, by the way, while you're here, can you help me carry this stuff in?
00:39:02
Todd
You just text me. I can solve i can solve problems.
00:39:06
Dewayne
Why didn't I think of that? Why didn't I call you on Friday when I needed you?
00:39:10
Todd
Yep. There you go.
00:39:14
Todd
But you then you got to the Atlanta airport, which which is a scene of unending TSA lines.
00:39:16
Dewayne
Yes. like National news is broadcasting from the Atlanta airport because it's one of the places that's having the most problems.
00:39:29
Todd
National News is broadcasting from outside the Atlanta airport where the end of the line for TSA is.
00:39:37
Dewayne
yes
00:39:37
Todd
I'm here at the end of the line. If you look over my shoulder, you can see off in the distance at the terminal that people are trying to get to.
00:39:45
Dewayne
When I went through...
00:39:49
Dewayne
Clear was closed and TSA pre-check with your ID, some kind of enhanced TSA pre-check was also closed, but pre-check was still open.
00:40:04
Dewayne
It took me 52 minutes from the time that I walked in the door until I cleared pre-check.
00:40:13
Dewayne
And I'm like, wow, that took a really long time. And then I was riding the escalator down to take the plane train. No, wait, that may be in Denver. Anyway, to take the train to my terminal. And there was a lady in front of me. I'm like, so how long were you? Were you in the regular line or were you in the? No, I was in the regular line. Two and a half hours for her. And she thought she had won the lottery getting through that quickly.
00:40:42
Dewayne
So meanwhile, my dad's flying to Houston to see Iowa play Nebraska. And I'm like, dude, have you heard about the Houston airport? So anyway, cross your fingers for my dad.
00:40:58
Todd
By the way, according to this, oh, this is interesting. I was going to do it a real-time correction, and yet, according to this, it it might be the SkyTrain, but also the PlaneTrain.
00:41:15
Dewayne
I just, I remember hearing, welcome aboard the plane train, but then I couldn't remember which airport that was.
00:41:22
Todd
Yeah. Holy crap. That thing opened in 1980. Yeah.
00:41:26
Dewayne
Yeah, that track, and and no upgrades have been made since.
00:41:30
Todd
And you started and then you stopped. I'm surprised you missed it because we're talking about trains. And you started saying, yeah, that tracks.
00:41:38
Todd
Yeah, I heard it.
00:41:42
Dewayne
What are you watching this week?
00:41:44
Todd
Okay. lot of weeks I'm like, yeah, we're watching this, whatever. Okay. So Saturday night, we went to a movie theater.
00:41:53
Dewayne
You said you weren't going to do this for like the whole rest of the year. There was nothing on the horizon that at all interested you. You you had you saw like five shows in six weeks and you were done.
00:42:00
Todd
Oh.
00:42:05
Todd
Yeah. Well, it turns out that's not true because I think there's like a few things coming, but Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling.
00:42:12
Dewayne
Oh.
00:42:13
Todd
Opened Friday. And so we went on Saturday to our, the, we were in the disclosed undisclosed location. We went to our theater down there. That's the one that, uh, you, you get in a little, you, you get in the, you get the nice one. And then they take the intermission halfway through and come out and bring chocolates to everybody. i just's just, it's just, this theater's made for me anyway.
00:42:33
Todd
Here's what I'll say. So based on the Andy Weir book, right? Andy Weir wrote The Martian, his movie, wrote the second book called Artemis. I guess it's been optioned, not a movie yet.
00:42:43
Todd
And then the third one was Project Hail Mary, read the book. Great book, very similar to The Martian. this is This is a really, really good movie. it's It's got some tense stuff in it, but at at its core, it's a buddy movie.
00:43:01
Todd
And it's just, I will put it this way. At one point, I'm not going to spoil anything here. Lisa's comment was, I was crying about a rock.
00:43:14
Todd
A rock. It is so good. it's It's not the greatest movie ever, but it's really good. i would recommend this is this is on the Todd recommend list. It may not be for everybody, but if you like The Martian, it's got a lot of humor. It's got a lot of that with it, but it's also got a lot of heart.
00:43:33
Todd
Good family movie to go to mostly like anyway. Can't say enough about it. And I would also say this is one you may want to see in theaters. Yeah, you could see it when it comes out on streaming or whatever, but it's a big space movie. It's it's great to see it up. this is This is the kind of stuff that people used to go to movies for, right? Like it didn't just have to be Avengers. It just is. It's like, let's go see this movie in a theater.
00:43:56
Todd
So there you go.
00:43:58
Todd
Project Hail Mary.

'Project Hail Mary' Movie Review

00:44:00
Todd
How about you?
00:44:00
Dewayne
Is this a football movie?
00:44:01
Todd
Is what? it is It is not. And from what I understand, because of that, when this movie has been taken internet, it did very it did very, very well. It did $140 million dollars worldwide, I think, opening weekend. But when it opened across the world, there was a lot of... they had to work You don't think about this. You don't just translate movie titles.
00:44:24
Todd
This Project Hail Mary doesn't make any sense outside of...
00:44:29
Dewayne
Right.
00:44:30
Todd
outside of the United States.
00:44:30
Dewayne
Yes.
00:44:31
Todd
And as I heard from somebody talking about this, especially in Latin and South American countries, you got to be really careful with the whole Catholic iconography.
00:44:42
Todd
So you do have to like, it's not a direct translation. Let's change this a little bit.
00:44:47
Dewayne
Yeah.
00:44:47
Todd
So yeah.
00:44:47
Dewayne
I'm guessing it's got a different title in different. Yeah. Yeah.
00:44:52
Todd
Yeah.
00:44:54
Dewayne
Okay.
00:44:54
Todd
But yes, not, not a, not it's a football term, but not a football, but not a football movie.
00:44:59
Dewayne
Not a football movie.
00:44:59
Todd
No.
00:45:00
Dewayne
But my guess is it's probably going to make the list of of the greatest sports movies of all time.
00:45:07
Todd
It very well could. <unk>s It's right up there. Yeah. Right behind Underdog.
00:45:14
Dewayne
Air Bud. We went to the theater and saw the touring production of The Music Man.
00:45:23
Todd
Which is about a about a touring production, isn't it? No. Sorry. Got that confused.
00:45:30
Dewayne
it
00:45:31
Todd
Never mind.
00:45:33
Dewayne
So, you know, Meredith Wilson, that it we did not see Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster. This was not that.
00:45:43
Todd
Yeah, they're not doing the touring circuit.
00:45:48
Dewayne
They're not, no. They are the reason there is a touring production, but they are not in the touring production. I don't know. I've probably seen the music made on stage three times. This might've been the third. This might've been the fourth.
00:46:04
Dewayne
It is a classic movie, classic musical, whatever. Yeah, it's fine. Right. Wells Fargo wagon, pick a little, talk a little 76 trombones,
00:46:19
Dewayne
whatever. Shapoopy don't forget Shapoopy you can't list the songs in the music man without you know anyway It was fun But that's what we're watching.
00:46:30
Todd
Excellent.
00:46:32
Dewayne
Yep Amy's like I don't need to see that again i'm like me I don't know the list of can we talk about the things we're going to be watching the
00:46:42
Todd
Sure.
00:46:46
Dewayne

Dewayne

00:47:11
Dewayne
Plus, the package add-ons are Waitress, Legally Blonde, Mark Twain Tonight, which is John Boy, The Sound of Music, and Mamma Mia.
00:47:25
Todd
Wait, there's more add-ons than season.
00:47:27
Dewayne
There there are yes, well, there are six in the season and there are five in the add-ons. Yes, we're we're getting a lot of stuff, but we immediately went and picked up the extras for Waitress and Legally Blonde, which are in my top five-ish.
00:47:33
Todd
OK.
00:47:45
Dewayne
and And Amy and I are then debating what to do with the Phantom of the Opera tickets because they are definitely getting traded.
00:47:54
Dewayne
But everything else, I am all over. I am so excited about the Broadway series in Des Moines coming up for the next year. How many of these are you getting in Salt Lake? Do you know?
00:48:06
Dewayne
Have they announced your package yet?
00:48:08
Todd
Yeah, they did that they did that a few weeks ago. We talked about it. We're on the wait list. There is some overlap. The season is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The Outsiders, Beauty and the Beast, Beauty and the Social Club,
00:48:21
Dewayne
Nice.
00:48:28
Todd
Operation Mincemeat, Maybe Happy Ending, Sound of Music, and The Great Gatsby with two add-ons of Beetlejuice and Six.
00:48:29
Dewayne
Nice.
00:48:41
Todd
Strong season.
00:48:43
Dewayne
That is a strong season. i Death Becomes Her is also on tour, but we did not get that.
00:48:49
Todd
Hmm.
00:48:50
Dewayne
i was hoping That's going to be in Omaha, and I think it's going to be in St. Louis. on tour, but it's not coming to, I, you we'll probably get it next year. i would bet.
00:49:02
Dewayne
but I think that was the only one that's new that was out that I had kind of hoped that we might get, but I am not disappointed in any of those, especially just in time.
00:49:15
Dewayne
I am. Oh, which also means we don't need to go see it when we go to New York in July.
00:49:22
Todd
Oh, well, there you go. Take one off the list.
00:49:24
Dewayne
And this isn't the thing that I learned this week, but it's something that I learned this week.
00:49:28
Todd
Okay.
00:49:28
Dewayne
Did you see what they're doing for your favorite musical for your 15th anniversary?
00:49:34
Todd
Yes, the original cast for for Book of Mormon, original cast members are coming back for a two-week time period of... Not every cast member on every show, but Andrew Rannells.
00:49:48
Todd
Rannells. Yeah, I love his rap. Andrew Rannells, Josh Gad. Yes, they're coming back. So when they announced that, i'm just I'll throw this out.
00:49:58
Todd
Actually, you know what? Maybe I'll make this what I learned this week. Lisa text me. So Andrew Rannells was on Colbert's show.
00:50:09
Dewayne
Yes.
00:50:09
Todd
singing I Believe.
00:50:10
Dewayne
Saying I believe. Yeah.
00:50:11
Todd
And it's like, oh, and everybody was expecting, does this mean they're coming back?
00:50:12
Dewayne
Yeah.
00:50:15
Todd
They're coming back. She texts me and says, original cast is coming back to Broadway. And then i said i said, so when are we going?
00:50:25
Dewayne
Right.
00:50:25
Todd
I was kind of joking, but not really. But here's how well I know my wife. So she had already looked for tickets and already found tickets. And again, we'll go to the theater. I like sitting on the aisle. I don't like being squeezed in the middle of the row. So I'm just a, it's a pain to buy tickets for me for the theater.
00:50:45
Todd
She's like, I found two on the end, right on the row. Like, she's like, how much do you think? I'm like, I don't know.
00:50:56
Todd
Let's say 300 ticket. Nope. no including the $170 of service fee. what It was, I think, $580 a ticket.
00:51:08
Dewayne
Gee, many Christmas.
00:51:11
Todd
With our companion pass on Delta, the flights for both of us there and back were going to be cheaper for both of us with the companion pass than a single ticket.
00:51:23
Todd
And we were both like, I would love to see it. We're not going to see that.
00:51:29
Dewayne
Well, and here's the other thing. What they're promoting is a magical mystery week. You might see Andrew. You might see Josh.
00:51:38
Todd
Maybe.
00:51:40
Dewayne
You might see the other guy.
00:51:40
Todd
Could.
00:51:41
Dewayne
yeah You know, they you don't know which, I mean, it's not like they're all coming together to do any of the performances.
00:51:42
Todd
Maybe.
00:51:48
Dewayne
They're kind of, you don't you don't know what you're going to get.
00:51:50
Todd
Yes. Yeah.
00:51:53
Todd
So anyway, what I learned this week was, so did we fly to New York so we could watch the the penultimate the penultimate show of the original Operation Mincemeat cast?
00:52:07
Todd
Yes, we did. and then And then got the hell out of there before the snowstorm. Absolutely did that. However, there are limits.
00:52:18
Todd
I don't know exactly what the limit is, but I know that Book of Mormon is exceeded the limit because it was a pretty quick decision from, but hey, this is how much they are. Oh, yeah, we're not going. Oh, yeah, no, no, no. i yeah Already decided.
00:52:34
Todd
Yeah.
00:52:34
Dewayne
It was a nice idea at the time, but...
00:52:38
Todd
Are we going? Already checked. Excellent. Now, to your point, if they were if the entire original cast was assured to be there, It probably would have been a longer decision, probably the exact same decision, but the conversation would have gone on longer.
00:52:55
Todd
So, you know what?
00:52:55
Dewayne
ha
00:52:56
Todd
actually Thank you for saving us some money. So anyway, that's what I learned. We're not going to New York to go see some shows. How

HP Printer Support Praise

00:53:06
Todd
about you? What did you learn?
00:53:08
Dewayne
I got my office bought me this really nice HP color laser printer.
00:53:16
Todd
Did they buy the subscription for you too?
00:53:20
Dewayne
Thank God. No.
00:53:22
Dewayne
but they could have, but they didn't. I, so they bought me this color laser printer so that I can produce our printouts, handouts for trade shows, for conferences that we do for all of that kind of stuff. And in the long run, way cheaper to buy the printer once than to continue to pay FedEx or whatever printer we're using.
00:53:43
Dewayne
Right. All of that kind of stuff. Anyway, it arrived back in December and it's been printing these hot spots when I do full color print.
00:53:57
Todd
Okay.
00:53:57
Dewayne
when I do a when i do a full page flyer that's got all color all the way through it, it'll have these hotspots consistently, but in different places on the page and not consistent in the color.
00:54:10
Dewayne
Sometimes it's the blue, sometimes it's the black, sometimes, anyway. And this has been going on and I thought, well, maybe it's the toner. So when the initial toner runs out, I bought replacement toner.
00:54:21
Dewayne
Did I buy HP authorized toner? I did not.
00:54:27
Todd
Well, there you violated the warranty, and I think you're going to jail.
00:54:32
Dewayne
But it did not fix the problem. And I'm like, okay, well, it's not.
00:54:36
Todd
It's not the tone
00:54:44
Dewayne
So I got on the horn with HP. And I waited my obligatory 15 minutes, as as we have documented.
00:54:53
Todd
I know what's going on here. i cleared my calendar. I'm here all day, all day.
00:54:57
Dewayne
I
00:54:58
Todd
i Mike Singletary, I can do this all day.
00:55:00
Dewayne
can do this all day, buddy. That's right. so I finally get somebody on the phone
00:55:08
Dewayne
and, And at this point, I'm actually in Atlanta because I've got downtime. I got nothing else to do. We were between things at the booth. So I got on the phone and I talked to a person in Atlanta and I had some of the printouts with me. So he and I are talking. I'm like, well, I'm not next to the printer right now, but I can send you some of the results and So i he sends me a link and I email him in pictures of the pages. Yeah, that's absolutely a problem. Tell you what, call us back when you're next to the printer and we'll do some more troubleshooting, but absolutely.
00:55:43
Dewayne
so So yesterday,
00:55:46
Dewayne
no, Monday. Monday, I'm back at my desk. So next to the printer. So I call HP. Wait the obligatory 15 minutes.
00:55:57
Dewayne
get to talk to a person and he does a thing where he sends me a link and I turn on and it turns on my camera so that he can see what I've got.
00:56:11
Todd
Okay, normally you pay extra for that, but sure, okay.
00:56:18
Dewayne
so One thing that I learned this week, I did not know that was a thing. i did not know that that was a, I can't believe that I didn't realize that that was an IT t option, but yes, they sent me a link, turned on the camera on my phone so that he could inspect my printer.
00:56:40
Dewayne
And he had to read a very specific disclaimer, blah, blah, blah. I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah. I know you've got to read it. You keep reading it. I'll whatever. Let's just get this thing fixed. And so I pull open the toner and he looks at the toner that's in there and goes, oh, well, that's going to be a problem.
00:56:58
Dewayne
Because I had not put the original toners back into the printer as I should have. And I had thought,
00:57:03
Todd
Yes.
00:57:05
Dewayne
about that. I'm like, you know what? I should take the old toner cartridges that are still sitting here because I wanted to make sure anyway, take the old toner cartridges that were sitting here and put them back in before I call in.
00:57:19
Dewayne
I didn't. He's like, oh, that's going to be a problem. I'm like, dude, It's not the toner. The problem was happening with the old toner. The problem is happening with the new toner. It's not the toner. Tell you what, I've still got the old toner cartridges sitting here. I am happy to have you watch me put them back into the printer.
00:57:41
Dewayne
and then print again. Yeah, okay, let's do this. so So I do. So I take them out and I've got the phone and he watches me put all of the old toner cartridges back into the printer, close it back up, print the test page, boom, out it pops again. He's like, okay.
00:57:58
Dewayne
Okay, can I put you on hold? I'm going to talk to my manager about this. I'm like, well, that's not a good sign, but at least he's willing to talk to my manager about this.
00:58:07
Dewayne
He's gone for at least 10 minutes and comes back.
00:58:13
Todd
Well, the and the reason why is he had to call his manager and then he had to wait the 15 minutes for his manager to pick up. Like, it it's just 15 minutes waiting all the way down. Internal, external, doesn't matter.
00:58:23
Dewayne
Everybody, God forbid the manager has to call a manager.
00:58:24
Todd
Yeah.
00:58:26
Dewayne
come
00:58:27
Todd
Yeah, it takes forever.
00:58:28
Dewayne
That would be why, because the entire call took me an hour, literally.
00:58:32
Todd
Yeah.
00:58:33
Dewayne
It took me, i looked at my phone when I was done and it said 58 minutes. I'm like, Jesus. But he's like, okay, so here's what we're going to do. I'm going to ship you a new printer, refurbished printer, but I'm going to ship you a new printer. When it comes, call us back. We'll help you install it. You're going to use your old toner and put it in this one. You're going to use the same power cable that you've already got. And then I'm going to need your credit card so that in case you decide not to ship us back this printer, you're going to charged for the cost of the printer. I'm like, okay, great. So planned delivery would be April eighth
00:59:14
Dewayne
And I'm like, well, I'm flying to a conference on April 8th and I need to be able to print to take things with me to the conference on April 8th. What's the, is there a quicker option? Yeah, there's an expedited version for $22. When would that get here? Within three days.
00:59:32
Dewayne
Yeah, let's do that one. For $23, if you're shi sending me a new printer, let's do that. Let's do, yes, let's do that one. They shipped it. On Monday, it was on my doorstep at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. i took the old broken one back to FedEx today and it's gone. I am singing HP's praises. The new one works like a charm. Zero issues.
00:59:58
Dewayne
i love it it is This is actually a really, really good printer. But I am here today to sing the praises of HP support.
01:00:08
Dewayne
at least until the damn thing breaks again, because it worked out really, really well. Now I'm just worried about the toner.
01:00:17
Todd
I'm just going to say this, Dwayne. If HP still has the camera on and that's why you're saying this, just blink twice. You're safe.
01:00:40
Dewayne

01:01:30
Todd
Two quick things. Number one, I'm proud of you for when you were running down the list of songs in the Music Man. You didn't include Korn Puddin', so good on you. Thanks, Eli. And also, i know the reason I know the real reason why that you couldn't take the Waymo in Atlanta. It's not because you didn't have anybody help you with. It's because you couldn't load all your stuff because there's the stranger in the trunk, so you didn't have any room to put all of your stuff in because of the weird guy in the trunk. So that wouldn't have fit. So yeah, you made the right call.
01:01:59
Dewayne
Two excellent notes to end the podcast. Love it. in My guess, well, we've talked about this before. We're probably to have stuff to clean up next week. Until then, we're talking to Todd.
01:02:41
Todd
A quick question for you at the end of the Music Man, how many trombones were on stage?
01:02:47
Dewayne
67? 67? No? No, that's not right.
