Introduction and Purposeful Living
00:00:00
Speaker
On today's episode, we start with a quote by Rondoss and get into all the ways to live a life of purpose.
00:00:06
Speaker
We explore our own personal mission statements in life and uncover some ways that we can make a positive difference in the world every day.
00:00:16
Speaker
Enjoy the episode.
00:00:18
Speaker
Welcome to Stay Sparked.
00:00:19
Speaker
We are two old friends who have been sharing conversations for years and years and years, and now we are sharing them together with you.
00:00:27
Speaker
I am John Halcyon, a author, joy activist, and host of the Hug Nation YouTube channel.
00:00:33
Speaker
And I am Betsy Finkel, who is the creator of the Power Affirmation Journal and Somatic Bodyworker.
Experiencing Gratitude and Seasons
00:00:40
Speaker
And we like to start these episodes off with a check-in with gratitude.
00:00:44
Speaker
Betsy, what are you grateful for today?
00:00:47
Speaker
Well, today I am grateful for winter.
00:00:51
Speaker
This is one of my first winters in Asheville.
00:00:54
Speaker
I moved here a few months ago and we're in the thick of it.
00:00:58
Speaker
It's mid-January almost and it's so beautiful this time of year.
00:01:03
Speaker
It's crisp and sunny and I just feel so grateful to get to experience winter.
00:01:10
Speaker
the seasons because the last many years I was in San Diego and it's not as apparent.
00:01:15
Speaker
And so I'm really just soaking it up.
00:01:19
Speaker
We, we, this time of year we call it hoodie weather when you have to wear long sleeves.
00:01:27
Speaker
Here it's like layers.
00:01:29
Speaker
You have to plan like to leave 15 minutes early to put all your extra layers on before you go out.
00:01:38
Speaker
I am glowing in gratitude from some beautiful holiday connections and getting to spend Christmas with five and a half year old Asher.
00:01:47
Speaker
It was just such a magical experience to giggle and play and spend the holidays with a little one.
00:01:54
Speaker
So I'm still feeling so much gratitude for that.
Ram Dass's Teachings on Mind and Heart
00:01:59
Speaker
And today on the episode, we wanted to talk about, well, I guess it's inspired by a quote by Ram Dass.
00:02:08
Speaker
And so first of all, I'll share the story and then we'll see what inspires in each other and hopefully in you.
00:02:16
Speaker
After a lecture, somebody asked Ram Dass that he said, look, the world is so crazy right now.
00:02:24
Speaker
I mean, are we headed towards the age of Aquarius or are we headed towards Armageddon?
00:02:28
Speaker
And Ram Dass said, you know, I don't know.
00:02:31
Speaker
I really don't know.
00:02:32
Speaker
But I asked myself, if we were headed towards the age of Aquarius,
00:02:37
Speaker
He said, I would quiet my mind, I would open my heart, and I would work to reduce suffering in the world.
00:02:44
Speaker
And I think to myself, well, what would I do if we're heading towards Armageddon?
00:02:48
Speaker
I would quiet my mind, I would open my heart, and I would try to reduce suffering in the world.
Aligning Personal Missions with Actions
00:02:55
Speaker
And I have found that quote to be so incredibly helpful.
00:03:04
Speaker
No matter what is happening in the world, how can we live in a way that we feel like we are doing what we should be doing?
00:03:15
Speaker
And if there is a way, if there is a way to live according to that it doesn't matter, then that means we get to spend so much less energy worrying about the future.
00:03:26
Speaker
And so there's so many times over the last year when I've been spun out into conversations or articles and scrolling about future panic.
00:03:34
Speaker
You know, what's going to happen?
00:03:35
Speaker
What's going to happen?
00:03:37
Speaker
And to just go back to this quote and say, well, whatever does happen, how am I going to spend tomorrow?
00:03:48
Speaker
And for me, I feel like the...
00:03:52
Speaker
the idea of waking each morning and reminding myself that I'm a love ambassador and trying to find the ways to gift whatever that is and find the ways to
Finding Flow and Purpose
00:04:06
Speaker
That's really like, I love the Ram Dass list of things, but to be totally honest, the idea of quiet your mind, I get this little twinge of like,
00:04:19
Speaker
I'm not really good at that.
00:04:21
Speaker
I don't really meditate.
00:04:24
Speaker
And then the other thing is reduce suffering.
00:04:27
Speaker
While I love the idea, it also feels like, I'm no Mother Teresa.
00:04:32
Speaker
And suffering, what does that mean?
00:04:33
Speaker
Like dressing people's wounds?
00:04:35
Speaker
I don't really do that.
00:04:36
Speaker
So for me, I like kind of substitute, work on myself, heal myself, and practice gifting.
00:04:46
Speaker
Because that's like, oh, I know that if I do that every day, if I try to remove the obstacles to my ego stuff that keeps me from being a loving person in the world, if I'm continually doing that and I know I can do that, I know that's a good use of my time.
00:05:01
Speaker
And I know that if I'm looking for the little ways that I can help fill in the cracks, lift somebody up, if I just look for ways to gift throughout my day,
00:05:11
Speaker
That also is, I know it's going to be a great use of my time, no matter what, whether we're heading towards Armageddon or Utopia.
00:05:19
Speaker
That's so beautiful.
00:05:20
Speaker
Well, that's your unique purpose.
00:05:22
Speaker
Your unique mission on this planet.
00:05:25
Speaker
And I love that you are harvesting the wisdom from Ram Dass.
00:05:30
Speaker
That was his mission, his purpose.
00:05:34
Speaker
To simplify the mind, to quiet the mind and open the heart and contribute to reducing suffering.
00:05:41
Speaker
And I think that's a really beautiful modeling.
00:05:44
Speaker
And we can each...
00:05:46
Speaker
Kind of find our own pillars.
00:05:48
Speaker
And when I'm hearing you share that, my sparks are instead of quieting the mind, which I do like to do, and I would imagine you actually do quiet your mind a lot more than what you give yourself credit for, even though you don't do the traditional sit down, get still, focus on one point.
Empowerment Through Clarity and Contentment
00:06:05
Speaker
But I'm sure you find flow state.
00:06:08
Speaker
That's what I consider flow state, accessing that space, that liminal space that is in the flow, whether that is through dance or through being in nature or making art, accessing that space that is just so beautiful and present moment oriented.
00:06:28
Speaker
I think it's a gift to ourselves and to the collective.
00:06:33
Speaker
Because the worry, the tension that comes from fear of the future, or even, you know, stress of what's to come.
00:06:43
Speaker
I think that flow state or quieting the mind or what your pillar was.
00:06:50
Speaker
You know, what was your first one?
00:06:54
Speaker
It all brings us into the moment.
00:06:59
Speaker
And then opening the heart, I love that you use gifting as an example of that.
00:07:03
Speaker
Because when you give, it does open the heart.
00:07:07
Speaker
It does feel like it is like, oh, when we find that wellspring of generosity within, it does feel like my heart opens and softens and there is...
00:07:19
Speaker
greater access to trusting the perfect unfolding of all of it.
00:07:22
Speaker
Whether we're all going to, you know, go extinct in the next five years or we're going to like turn this ship around and have an incredible, transformational, long lasting experience of our species.
00:07:37
Speaker
You know, to get into that place of trust.
00:07:39
Speaker
It's really awesome to feel that.
00:07:43
Speaker
It's interesting how the wording and how it resonates with us is important.
00:07:49
Speaker
I know that's something that you work with in affirmations and things.
00:07:51
Speaker
You've got to find the words that work with you.
00:07:56
Speaker
Reduce suffering and gifting.
00:08:00
Speaker
In many ways, it's the same thing.
00:08:01
Speaker
A gifting, you're trying to find what is...
00:08:05
Speaker
what is something that could be fixed?
00:08:07
Speaker
What is, what is something that is hurting that could be relieved?
00:08:10
Speaker
What is some burden that could be lifted, which is reducing suffering.
00:08:14
Speaker
But I hear reduced suffering and it puts me into like, it just feels like heavy and dark.
00:08:22
Speaker
Practice gifting to me is a way to make it into a light spreading activity instead of a dark fighting activity.
00:08:29
Speaker
Maybe the exact same energy.
00:08:31
Speaker
I do work with the homeless, which I guess you consider is reducing suffering.
00:08:35
Speaker
But it feels I like it to feel light and joyful.
00:08:39
Speaker
So to me, I think of it as a gifting practice.
00:08:42
Speaker
Yeah, so beautiful.
00:08:43
Speaker
And I also hear being in service.
00:08:47
Speaker
Yeah, that's another could be another perfect wording of it.
00:08:51
Speaker
It's all kind of like the same saying the same thing just in a different way.
00:08:56
Speaker
And I think that the that but the that idea that what we really want to be doing is figuring out what is that what is that what are the phrases what is the directive that makes us feel good about yes that would be a good use of my time no matter what you know what would be what would what would I feel like is heading in the right direction no matter what.
Activism and Personal Contributions
00:09:23
Speaker
mantra coming on or like a, you know, a way of living direction.
00:09:28
Speaker
And here we are at the beginning of the new year.
00:09:30
Speaker
So much of the conversation is, you know, do you have any words for this year?
00:09:34
Speaker
What's your, you know, intention for 2025?
00:09:38
Speaker
And I feel like Ram Dass really gives us a beautiful simplification of, of that because his was to clear the mind, open the heart and reduce suffering.
00:09:49
Speaker
You know, mine is access flow from the heart and be in service.
00:09:59
Speaker
You know, and those are ways of life.
00:10:02
Speaker
And that is, it can be changing every single day.
00:10:05
Speaker
And it can be something so simple that I can do by myself at home.
00:10:10
Speaker
Or I could go big and do something out in the world.
00:10:14
Speaker
You know, you can gift yourself something.
00:10:17
Speaker
And same with Ron Boss.
00:10:19
Speaker
And I think this is, so this whole idea, I think, is really critical.
00:10:23
Speaker
Because it's not saying...
00:10:25
Speaker
hey, ignore what's going on in the world and just do your own thing.
00:10:30
Speaker
It's saying, what's a way that you can do your own thing where you're helping the world no matter what?
00:10:36
Speaker
And just having faith in that.
00:10:37
Speaker
And then you have so much more energy to be present, to be loving, to be in service, to be reducing suffering because you're not worked into these distractive narratives of panic or worry or
00:10:52
Speaker
Yeah, well, and it's very difficult to operate functionally from a place of panic or worry.
00:10:59
Speaker
Stress creates tension in the body and dis-ease in the body.
00:11:05
Speaker
And all of that makes it very difficult to make a positive difference in the world.
00:11:10
Speaker
If we can relax into the knowing that everything is unfolding in perfection, even if that means horror and despair and extinction or whatever, Armageddon, as you said, how can we move towards it with our own unique contribution to it?
00:11:28
Speaker
You know, we're going to add light.
00:11:30
Speaker
We're going to add darkness.
00:11:33
Speaker
I'm hopeful that most of the people out there listening to this show called Stay Sparked are in the mindset around bringing light because that's what this is about.
00:11:44
Speaker
It is a dark time.
00:11:45
Speaker
There's a lot of things to worry about, a lot of things to be stressed about.
Incremental Actions for Sustained Impact
00:11:49
Speaker
A lot of systems are crumbling.
00:11:50
Speaker
There's a lot of things that are pretty messed up and upside down and a lot of just tragic things that are happening in the world that can create a lot of
00:12:04
Speaker
But how do we find a glimmer, a tiny little sparkle of hope in the world that we live in, even when we can be so frustrated or fearful or stressed about the things?
00:12:18
Speaker
You know, and I think we keep coming back to this really beautiful quote, what's mine to do?
00:12:24
Speaker
No matter what's going to happen, all I have control of is myself and my daily actions.
00:12:31
Speaker
So I think that that's what we're talking about.
00:12:34
Speaker
And I think that there's, it's so tempting to feel disheartened and like, it doesn't matter.
00:12:42
Speaker
Like if we're headed towards a cliff, then it's easy just to go, well, then I'm not going to try so hard.
00:12:50
Speaker
And like, if we're headed towards a cliff,
00:12:52
Speaker
the end, then why am I recycling?
00:12:54
Speaker
And this quote is like, no, no, no, no.
00:12:57
Speaker
You're not thinking about it right.
00:12:59
Speaker
The only thing that you have control over is your part.
00:13:04
Speaker
So all you need to do is do you in integrity and just trust and just have faith.
00:13:12
Speaker
Because, well, for me, there's a piece to this, which is that
00:13:19
Speaker
you are connected to something that is way bigger than this reality in this world.
00:13:24
Speaker
And so regardless of how the narrative of this planet's story goes, your spiritual story continues on.
00:13:34
Speaker
So your role during your lifetime is to
00:13:39
Speaker
spread love, work on your traumas, heal yourself.
00:13:43
Speaker
So that regardless of the story of this chapter of this reality, the story of your life should be one of healing and love.
00:13:54
Speaker
Yeah, and contribute it.
Daily Integrity and Impactful Actions
00:13:56
Speaker
So when we are paying attention to the fact that there's a lot of things in this world that need to change.
00:14:02
Speaker
So for me, I would love to speak to one of my tension points.
00:14:07
Speaker
And sometimes I feel a little despair that I got to keep coming back to my own personal part of it and contribution is single use plastics.
00:14:17
Speaker
And how frustrating it is, you know, to-go containers.
00:14:22
Speaker
And there's just so much.
00:14:25
Speaker
It's overwhelming sometimes.
00:14:27
Speaker
And I feel really mad and tense and frustrated by a lot of it.
00:14:33
Speaker
And I feel sometimes like the only one who is bringing to-go containers in my car and carrying mason jars with me.
00:14:44
Speaker
And it's like, okay, yeah, it might be kind of weird to do that.
00:14:47
Speaker
And I don't care at this moment.
00:14:50
Speaker
Like, okay, I'm going to build a new habit.
00:14:51
Speaker
I'm going to do these little things.
00:14:54
Speaker
Even if, you know, I go to a restaurant and see them giving hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of these single-use plastic things away and I'm just one person bringing my own.
00:15:03
Speaker
It's like, how do I actually just stay confident in my own self and know that I'm doing the best that I can in my own way, even if we are going to get buried in trash one day?
00:15:16
Speaker
But then I start paying attention to all these organizations that are actually making a really positive difference.
00:15:22
Speaker
So one way that I stay sparked and kind of like
00:15:26
Speaker
help to clear out some of that tension is I start following on my social media feeds some of these organizations like Zero Waste Organizations, Waste Free Planet, some of these threads that are showing really awesome things that are cleaning up the oceans and places in India that are having these new ways of doing things and there is more and more people that are waking up
00:15:52
Speaker
And so sometimes when I feel like I'm that weird girl, the only one in the restaurant that brings her to-go thing, it's like, oh, wait, no, there's a lot more people.
00:16:00
Speaker
I just can't quite see them.
00:16:02
Speaker
It's not as televised.
00:16:04
Speaker
And he's being hopeful by paying attention.
00:16:08
Speaker
I think that's a good reminder that there's always so many more people like you out there than you're aware of.
00:16:15
Speaker
And media in general is not giving you that reflection.
00:16:21
Speaker
And one of the things that I try to say every morning is that
00:16:25
Speaker
There are millions, maybe billions of people out there that are eager to be as connected and open-hearted as you are.
00:16:33
Speaker
And sometimes they just need someone to demonstrate, to role model, to be a little bit, to show that it's okay.
00:16:41
Speaker
So the other thing that I was going to say is that this reminds me of one of the ideas that is helpful to me as a direction, not distance.
00:16:50
Speaker
that if you get too caught up in the scale of a problem, it's easy to just feel like, what's the point?
00:16:58
Speaker
Whether it's single-use plastic or people experiencing homelessness or anything, it's just, what's the point?
00:17:06
Speaker
But if you can change the focus to how far you have to go instead of just, am I going in the right direction?
00:17:14
Speaker
And I think that's what Ram Dass is trying to say.
00:17:16
Speaker
Look, we're not focused on
00:17:21
Speaker
Ending suffering in the world.
00:17:23
Speaker
That's not my job.
00:17:24
Speaker
My job is to reduce suffering in the world.
00:17:27
Speaker
And then every day I can be victorious.
00:17:29
Speaker
Every day I can say, I did it.
00:17:33
Speaker
And with anything that matters to us, we can be going in the right direction every day.
00:17:38
Speaker
And then every day we can be like, yes, I did it.
00:17:42
Speaker
I was going in the right direction.
00:17:43
Speaker
And that is sustainable.
00:17:47
Speaker
And like these little steps that can make a big difference.
00:17:51
Speaker
I also like instead of reducing suffering, contribute to a better world.
00:17:57
Speaker
And how powerful if every morning we start the day with that question.
00:18:02
Speaker
How can I contribute to a better world today?
00:18:05
Speaker
And then at the end of the day, reflect on it.
00:18:08
Speaker
And maybe some days it's like a very simple thing, like giving a smile to a stranger or like reaching out to someone you know is going through healing, you know, or maybe it's bigger on other days, like what you do with Help the Homeless, you know.
00:18:23
Speaker
Maybe it's something, some donation, something that we're doing every day to make this world a better place to contribute.
00:18:31
Speaker
One of the things that I try to do in coaching and in workshops is to make an inventory of the ways that you can contribute.
00:18:40
Speaker
Like what are the gifts that you have?
00:18:42
Speaker
And it can be really illuminating to realize all the different ways that you can be of service, you know, through your attention, through the way you treat family, to the way you cook, to the way you listen, to the way you are patient in a parking lot and to the way you give someone a ride.
00:19:01
Speaker
And so just kind of being aware of all these different ways, you start to realize, oh, it's actually kind of easy to
00:19:08
Speaker
To live this way, I just got to just look for the opportunities.
00:19:12
Speaker
Look for the opportunities.
00:19:14
Speaker
Well, and also give yourself that acknowledgement.
00:19:16
Speaker
I think that's really key because they're probably already doing a lot of really good things.
00:19:22
Speaker
And unfortunately, a lot of people are pretty hard on themselves.
00:19:27
Speaker
Internal dialogue around, am I doing enough?
00:19:30
Speaker
I'm not sure if I'm even making a difference.
00:19:32
Speaker
Who am I in the grand scheme of things?
Aligning with Personal Values and Growth
00:19:35
Speaker
But when you sit down and you make a list of those simple things that you're doing every day, it really can...
00:19:43
Speaker
shift things on that internal aspects of our thoughts and start to see ourselves as a good person.
00:19:50
Speaker
Oh, I actually am making a positive difference in this world.
00:19:54
Speaker
Oh, I'm a good person.
00:19:55
Speaker
Okay, that feels good.
00:19:57
Speaker
And then we can start to relax and then start to actually have a lot more joy in our lives.
00:20:02
Speaker
And then that in itself contributes to a better world, right?
00:20:06
Speaker
Because joy can be so contagious.
00:20:11
Speaker
Yeah, I think that is a really good point that
00:20:16
Speaker
being in a place of self-awareness of your own joy, happiness, without guilt.
00:20:27
Speaker
If you can be walking through your days because you know you're following whatever your directive that you have for yourself of being of service or being patient with my family, if you can be doing that, then you walk differently.
00:20:40
Speaker
And then you are spreading a vibration to everyone you interact with
00:20:45
Speaker
It's kind of lifting them and inviting them to that same space.
00:20:50
Speaker
That's really important.
00:20:53
Speaker
And it starts within.
00:20:55
Speaker
I know it's like kind of cliche.
00:20:57
Speaker
We've all heard it a million times, but it really starts within.
00:21:00
Speaker
When we have that inner dialogue, the kindness inside and the recognition, self-recognition, like I'm a good person.
00:21:07
Speaker
I'm making this, I'm contributing to a better world.
00:21:11
Speaker
You know, then that starts to build that inner confidence and the inner radiance, in my opinion.
00:21:16
Speaker
And I think that the tuning into that,
00:21:23
Speaker
Maybe even tuning into what is in the way.
00:21:25
Speaker
Like if you are trying to find out or to write your, this is the thing that would do it for me.
00:21:33
Speaker
Are there things in your mind that you feel like you're out of integrity?
00:21:37
Speaker
Are there things that you're doing that maybe...
00:21:40
Speaker
feel like you're going in the opposite direction of what you should be doing every day.
00:21:44
Speaker
Well, what an amazing opportunity.
00:21:46
Speaker
Like, oh, I guess I got to stop drinking single-use water.
00:21:49
Speaker
Oh, I guess I got to stop doing whatever it is.
00:21:53
Speaker
Or I guess I can put a little extra attention to this.
00:21:55
Speaker
It's this beautiful opportunity to keep fine-tuning your kind of daily directive for yourself.
00:22:06
Speaker
It's a journaling prompt.
00:22:09
Speaker
Am I being in integrity with myself?
00:22:11
Speaker
Where can I get into greater alignment with the habits that are connected to what I care about?
00:22:20
Speaker
Do a little internal check in and then readjust.
00:22:24
Speaker
Super powerful to call ourselves out for that too.
00:22:27
Speaker
And I would say that it's not, that's not a destination.
00:22:32
Speaker
That is a lifelong process.
00:22:35
Speaker
I was with a coaching client this week and it had to kind of like say, oh, I felt like I was very, very,
00:22:46
Speaker
I thought I was being very successful and rocking in my in alignment.
00:22:51
Speaker
I'm doing it on a daily basis.
00:22:52
Speaker
And then wham, realize, oh, I am addicted to some substances and realize I had to vastly reevaluate my behaviors so that I could communicate.
00:23:07
Speaker
get back into that alignment.
00:23:09
Speaker
I had no, I mean, for a long time, I didn't know I was out of alignment.
00:23:14
Speaker
And so what was, let me say that differently.
00:23:18
Speaker
The path that was my alignment worked until I became aware of different aspects of myself.
00:23:26
Speaker
And then I corrected it.
00:23:27
Speaker
And I think that's what we got to keep doing in our life.
00:23:30
Speaker
It reminds me of a Joe Dispenza quote where he says, a belief is not limiting until you realize that it is.
00:23:40
Speaker
It's just a belief.
00:23:41
Speaker
Same thing with like a bad habit.
00:23:45
Speaker
A bad habit, but we don't realize that it's a bad habit.
00:23:49
Speaker
It's just a habit.
00:23:50
Speaker
Until we start to bring awareness to those things that are actually not healthy for us, then we can start to change the pattern, change the thinking, change the habit, change whatever it is to get into a better alignment with who we actually want to be and how we actually want to be acting and thinking and being.
00:24:13
Speaker
And I think that's the path of personal growth, I think, is...
00:24:17
Speaker
Do I feel in alignment?
00:24:20
Speaker
And then when you, how can I tune into the ways that I'm not?
00:24:23
Speaker
And then, oh, okay, that's where I can do some work.
00:24:25
Speaker
And then tell you, okay, now I feel good again.
00:24:28
Speaker
There's, I mean, there's methods.
00:24:30
Speaker
There's no path that is the right way.
00:24:34
Speaker
Like you, in your examples of single-use plastics and things, those are the elements that are most critical in your, you know, of actions that are, could be in and out of alignment.
00:24:47
Speaker
But that doesn't mean that's the same for everyone.
00:24:51
Speaker
I know that there was a time in my life when, I confessed to you right before we broadcast, I used to get...
00:24:58
Speaker
crates of single-use plastic bottles delivered to my house.
00:25:01
Speaker
And that was not out of alignment to me until I realized that it was.
00:25:08
Speaker
And then every time I drank the water bottle, I could feel it like, oh, okay, I got to fix this.
00:25:14
Speaker
And so, and the more that we can remove those kind of obstacles to our flow, obstacles to our feeling just we're good.
00:25:24
Speaker
Yeah, I think it's just, it's like a hygiene that we just got to keep doing, keep doing, keep doing as we grow and recorrect and get feeling good again.
Crafting Personal Mission Statements
00:25:39
Speaker
So here's the closing spark if you're open for a little wrap.
00:25:44
Speaker
My closing spark is a little instigation for those of you out there that are listening.
00:25:49
Speaker
What are your pillars?
00:25:50
Speaker
What are those three things similar to what we talked about, this quote from Ram Dass,
00:25:56
Speaker
He works on the three pillars.
00:25:59
Speaker
One is clearing his mind.
00:26:01
Speaker
Two is opening the heart.
00:26:03
Speaker
Three is reducing suffering.
00:26:05
Speaker
I spoke to being in flow state, giving from the heart, and being in service.
00:26:13
Speaker
Hal San, what were your three?
00:26:16
Speaker
I was just saying heal myself and practice gifting.
00:26:20
Speaker
Spark is gifting, right.
00:26:23
Speaker
So what are your pillars out there?
00:26:25
Speaker
Hopefully you are feeling sparked to really tune in, fine tune your mission statement for your life.
00:26:32
Speaker
That's what it feels like.
00:26:33
Speaker
This is a mission statement for life.
00:26:36
Speaker
No matter what direction we are going as a human species on this planet, whether or not we are going to implode in our life poem or expand into some...
00:26:48
Speaker
completely beautiful next level heaven on earth realities we don't know all we have is right now and so how are we gonna love it and so the instigation is also to send us what are your pillars what lights you up so what keeps you going send it to um either our instagram you can put it in the uh in the chat you'll see our instagram is i think it's stay sparked and then also if you want to pop on
00:27:15
Speaker
Apple Podcasts and scroll down, you'll see write a review.
00:27:20
Speaker
You can always put them in there too.
00:27:22
Speaker
That helps us a lot actually to spread the sparks.
00:27:25
Speaker
So my closing spark is a little nudge and instigation to y'all out there.
00:27:31
Speaker
I love that, Betsy.
00:27:32
Speaker
And I really feel like this idea is so big and so huge that finding your mission statement impacts so many aspects of life.
00:27:47
Speaker
So I guess my closing statement is just going to, I'm going to double down and encourage you to do the homework that the challenge that Betsy just put out.
00:27:57
Speaker
Because if you have an idea,
00:28:01
Speaker
of what the basic directive of your day can be that will make you feel like it's a good use of your day no matter what.
Resources for Life Mission Alignment
00:28:10
Speaker
You can start every day with that reminder and it can change everything.
00:28:14
Speaker
If you can start your day, which is one of the reasons why I do a morning broadcast and I invite you to join me every day at 9 a.m.
00:28:20
Speaker
Pacific time on YouTube or Facebook, but YouTube, the Hug Nation channel.
00:28:25
Speaker
Come in, share gratitude and say, who do I want to be today?
00:28:29
Speaker
okay, I want to be someone that reduces suffering and opens my heart and whatever it is.
00:28:34
Speaker
Because if you just say that to yourself when you start the day, the next time you get that phone call or that email or whatever, you already know.
00:28:43
Speaker
You already know the base ideas that you're going to use to answer the question, to make the decision.
00:28:52
Speaker
And you keep living day by day like that.
00:28:56
Speaker
Those days add up to a really powerful presence in the world.
00:29:02
Speaker
It becomes your guiding light, your north star.
00:29:06
Speaker
And that's why I live life in affirmation.
00:29:09
Speaker
And so before we close it out with an affirmation, maybe you can share with us a little bit more on how people can find you online.
00:29:18
Speaker
I love that you do the 9 a.m.
00:29:20
Speaker
And how else might people find you and maybe even work with you directly?
00:29:26
Speaker
Yes, the links to the morning broadcast as well as the noon gratitude circles and working with me one-on-one as a coach, you can find all of that information at lifestudent.com.
00:29:37
Speaker
Lifestudent.com, which has links to even fun stuff like how you get a free sticker from me or a t-shirt and stuff like that.
00:29:44
Speaker
So yeah, come stay connected.
00:29:48
Speaker
I have one of your stickers on my computer.
00:29:50
Speaker
The Love Ambassador.
00:29:53
Speaker
Beautiful offerings.
00:29:54
Speaker
How did we find you?
00:29:56
Speaker
Well, I also have a website.
00:29:59
Speaker
I have poweraffirmation.com where you can get the Power Affirmation Journal, which is a tool to help you reprogram limiting beliefs.
00:30:11
Speaker
You can find the Power Affirmation deck that I just launched recently, which will do an affirmation.
00:30:17
Speaker
From there, I also work with clients one-on-one, really taking them on the journey of reprogramming limiting beliefs with the journal and the cards and some mindset practices.
00:30:29
Speaker
I just started a new group as well, which I'm super excited about.
00:30:32
Speaker
And then I also do in-person body work, massage therapy, energy work.
00:30:36
Speaker
I do aerial somatics.
00:30:38
Speaker
I'm in Asheville, North Carolina.
00:30:41
Speaker
Please reach out if any of those spark interest for you and you'd like to receive some of my magical medicine.
Closing Affirmation on Embracing Change
00:30:49
Speaker
And in the meantime, I would love to sparkle and sprinkle some affirmation magic into your ears from the power affirmation deck.
00:31:01
Speaker
Why don't you, I'm shuffling right now.
00:31:04
Speaker
Why don't you, Halcyon, tell me when and I'll pull a card.
00:31:18
Speaker
I am evolving now.
00:31:27
Speaker
I attract the people, things, and experiences that serve my highest good and support me in the best ways.
00:31:36
Speaker
I create a new reality for myself with my thoughts, words, and actions.
00:31:41
Speaker
I trust myself to make the best decisions for the path I'm forging ahead.
00:31:46
Speaker
I have the power to create big changes within my thinking, my habits, and my life.
00:31:54
Speaker
Yes, we do have the power to make big changes within our thinking, within our habits, and within our lives.
00:32:00
Speaker
And that's what we're here talking about today.
00:32:02
Speaker
So I hope this inspired y'all.
00:32:04
Speaker
I know I'm feeling sparked.
00:32:06
Speaker
Thank you, John Halcyon.
00:32:07
Speaker
I love you so much.
00:32:10
Speaker
