So We are here we're considered heroes on the front lines, and I couldn't agree more with that. Every day we witness traumatic events, but there are also times where we can be under the microscope of media and the media scrutiny.

This emotional toll can lead to burnout, anxiety, and even PTSD. The constant and exposure to distressing images and narratives can feel isolating, especially when trying to protect our families from the realities that we face daily.

Toni Gonzalez
Set specific times for checking the news to avoid the constant influx of potentially distressing information. Less exposure can lead to reduce anxiety.

Building Understanding Through Family Engagement

00:03:24
Toni Gonzalez
Engage with loved ones. Open communication with family about the challenges faced at work. can help foster understanding and support systems. And a lot of people that I talk to, especially significant others, always say that they don't really know what's going on and that they feel like they're being left out. And really it's not about being left out. It's just that sometimes we don't want to share things with our family members and we don't want to upset them, but there could be things that we can choose out of those moments that we can discuss with our family members.

Emotional Relief Through Debriefing

00:03:59
Toni Gonzalez
Regular debriefing. Take time to debrief personally or with colleagues after critical incidents. Sharing experiences and feelings can lift some of the burdens. And there are a lot of programs out here that offer one-on-one with you. You can call in. You can join groups and things like that. So it's important to debrief um and seek each other's support.

Importance of Self-Care

00:04:27
Toni Gonzalez
The one I talk about mostly is prioritizing self-care. Regularly engage in self-care practices, whether through exercise, hobbies, or mindfulness techniques like meditation. Taking time for yourself is important, people. It's super important.

Seeking Professional Mental Health Support

00:04:46
Toni Gonzalez
Professional support. Remember that it's okay to reach out to professionals, especially mental health professionals. They can support you with with the concerns you have.
00:04:57
Toni Gonzalez
And especially with the media portrayal or work that can be overwhelming.
00:05:07

So there are numerous, there are numerous resources available for first responders, hotlines, online forums and counseling services can provide crucial support. It's essential to remember that it's perfectly okay to seek help whenever needed.
00:05:21
Toni Gonzalez
We are true heroes deserving of good mental health and wellbeing. Don't forget that. And if no one's thanked you, I want to say thank
