well First of all, they've had an absolutely brilliant season, haven't they? They've far, far, far exceeded expectation. This is a team that struggled to stay up the previous couple of years.

um but But, you know, everybody's wondering, well, what, what, what, you know, got rid of Steve Cooper. They brought in Nuno. Is he the right man for the job? Nobody expected. Yeah, but people thought they would do better this year. Okay, all the Forest fans, and I work with Forest fans,

And everybody kind of thought, yeah, if we can get mid-table, even if we can get as high 10th, 10th will be an amazing finish for Forrest this season. Nobody expected what has happened thus far.

And fair play to them. They've done unbelievably well. They've had a brilliant season. they they transfer they They worked in the transfer of market superbly in the summer. They bought in Murillo. They bought in Milenkovic.

They've got Hudson-Odoi playing. Gibbs-White, we know, is a brilliant player.

Chris Wood has sort of come out retirement almost so and having the season of his life again.

And it's all clicked. It's all worked. And they found a way of playing which really suited the team that they had, which I think is very important.

And and fair you know absolutely fair play and massive credit to ah Nuno for that because sometimes managers will try and impose a system upon players that aren't quite ah capable of playing that system.

and What he's done is found a system that really fits the best.

We talked about that last week, didn't we? how that how that can be How that can be a failure. We talked about that last week. Our managers say, hey, they can complain because they haven't got the players to suit their system. Whereas Nuno clearly has said, well, how do they get this team maximising its potential?

Yeah, and they have. They've absolutely maximised their potential. Now, in recent weeks, obviously, they've hit a little bit of the skids. And it started, curiously enough, after their 7-0 thrashing of Brighton, because they went to Exeter in the FA Cup and they really, really struggled.

Now, they started out with a very weakened team, but they had to bring on... all the big guns in the second half of that game. And even then they couldn't get, they couldn't break through and they required a win on penalties.

And everybody's going, and nobody was, nobody was that bothered. I don't think because it's an FA cup game. It's exit city on Tuesday night. A lot of, a lot of the same reserves are playing, but they follow that up with a two one defeat at Fulham. And they were outplayed.

But they then went to Newcastle and had a horrendous 20 minutes where, having taken the lead, they let in four goals in 12 minutes, wasn't it?

And to be honest, to get to four-run at halftime, they were lucky to do that. Could have been Excuse me, could have been six, have been seven. But then they had an amazing second-half comeback. yes And they scored two goals. They took it a full three.

and and um honestly, they could easily drawn they could have easily drawn that game. And fair play. They they really came out and gave it gave it a good go in a second half. um But they lost nonetheless. so So you then go into the Arsenal game.

And a near-and-all home game against Arsenal isn't too bad. i I would have thought maybe a month and a half two months ago, they would have this. We all know Arsenal have got their own struggles minus Stryker at the moment. they They're going to struggle with score goals, let's face it, between now and the end of the season.

um And it wasn't that good a game. So yeah yeah where are Forrests going with all this? Well, they're a third at the moment. this what was really interesting What was really interesting is that when I spoke to the GSPN Nottingham Forest podcast, and they obviously go and watch Forest all the time, I spoke to them sort week, 10 days ago, and they said the team's looking really tired.

it' so you know It's difficult to say because ordinarily, on the back of a couple of defeats, a 0-0 draw with Arsenal is a very, very good result. But expectations are high this season.

Or B, they're going to collapse. And if you look at the teams around them who you would expect to challenge on a regular basis, Arsenal seem to be perennial bridesmaids. They don't seem to have it in them ah to win a league.

ah Man City, who are amazingly fourth, despite their dreadful run you know for for a while ago. um They picked up a couple of wins recently, but they're fourth. They've had a terrible season. Chelsea, fifth, have had a terrible season.

um The other big clubs, know, looking at challenge, Tottenham are 13th, Man United are 14th. They've had terrible seasons. So it is it's it's the new pretenders. It's Forrest in third.

It's a really interesting story and narrative around that. Just one other the thing before we move on, Forrest. ah The next five games, Man City at home, Ipswich away, Man United at home.

These are in the league, by the way. Villa away, Everton at home. I can't see tons of points coming from that. I think it's i don't even think they're going to win at Ipswich away. I can see about maybe five points out of those five games.

um So that's that that was one. And then fast forward sort of to my teenage years when, obviously, by the time I was seven or eight, i was i was big Derby fan and that stayed with all my life. Those those early years going to the baseball ground, particularly on my own, when I used to sort of go with all the hooligan element down to the Vulcan Terrace on the Colombo, on the pop side, either one.

and and and And, yeah, much like anybody, in those days when when you were packed in, you'd score a goal and you'd end up 15 yards away minus a shoe. You know, it was all of that. And everybody's got their own stories around that. But again, those days, amazing.

A couple more very briefly. Leeds, Leeds United, Ellen Road, just for one night. but This goes into my best and worst, by the way, this ground. Just for that one night when we beat them in the playoffs in 2019, we'd lost the first leg at Derby.
