Introduction and Character Banter
00:00:30
Speaker
Hello, welcome to this week's episode of The Fellowship on the Tabletop. My name is Mark, I am the DM, and with me we have, to my left firstly, we have Ian. Hi! I forgot your name for a second there. That's not funny. How are you? I'm good, how are you? I thought you were going to introduce me and my character. I was going to say Ian, who just plays the bear, and I do that, because he always forgets me the wrong way round. I'll call you Robin. I'll introduce myself. Hi, I'm Ian, I play Drago for all your earful needs.
00:00:58
Speaker
You can't make up words. Earful needs. Oh yeah, but it works in a full podcast format. It definitely works. Fill your ears. I'm here to lactate your ear holes. That's too far. Next up we've got Will. I will. I can't really top lactating ear holes. That'd be a good band name though. It'd be a great grunge metal lactating ear holes. When you play off there. I'm done, right. I've only had one beer.
00:01:28
Speaker
And already come up with Lactaking Late. Oh, forgot I smoothed that as well. I was proud of you to say Caludo. Christ. Oh, can we call you about that? Caludo. Caludo. Do your jobs on Dragon. So finally, we have Darren, who's played by Robin. No, no, no, still the wrong way round. It's not like I've known you for like 10 years. 10 years. We have Darren.
00:01:48
Speaker
playing. Hi. That was it. There's so much build up to that down. You're such a fucking blah. Thank you for joining us on this episode. This is our fifth episode.
Drago's Cliffside Encounter and Curse Discovery
00:02:00
Speaker
Second arc and shit's getting real. You might have realized that we are one person less today.
00:02:11
Speaker
Shader Callum will be back. Shader Callum will be back a couple episodes joining us. He had anything. We miss you buddy. Everyone gonna do 20? I really hope this isn't me. Don't bother with it guys, don't bother with it. 18 over here. I got 15. I got a 2. That's better than me, I'm a natural one.
00:02:37
Speaker
Yes. What happened? I mean, I don't fucking know. Let's be honest. It was only last week. Your notes are better than mine. So, yeah, that's good. So, from where I remember we pick off, Drago had fallen down a cliff, which was really funny, and landed up near a woman named Halia. Halia? I've got an I before the L in my notes, which would suggest it's Halia. He discovered
00:03:04
Speaker
something or someone had put a curse on this island and was causing what was once the inhabitants to appear as spectres in a continual cycle, which is why the dog reappeared. Cutting back to what we were up to, we had found a safe place in the clearing to come to refuge. It was lovely until the water elementals showed up, which we bitch slapped this time round, but we did.
00:03:28
Speaker
You finally did. Yeah, we did this time. On to what was happening next.
Reunion and Island's Treachery Unveiled
00:03:33
Speaker
Drago and Hayley Earth decided to set off... It's Hayley's salt breath. Hayley's salt breath. I made notes. Well done, you. Thank you. They decided to set off and try and find the rest of us. Having vanquished the water elementals, the party decided to track back and try and find the mammoth, seeing if that could potentially lead to what they were still thinking at this point was their three-day drive.
00:03:56
Speaker
Upon meeting back with Drago and Helia, the party comes together. The truth about the treachery of this island is revealed. I believe... is it Roph Hothspitter? Is he the person we're being sent to who we need to kill the Valarion? No, that was another person that was mentioned previously. Roph Hothspitter is the kind of leader of Aerith.
00:04:24
Speaker
And there's a word that keeps appearing which is the sinew part and we're not entirely sure what that means That is my
00:04:35
Speaker
No, it wasn't good enough for inspiration. Yeah, so that brings us to where we are now. So where we left off, we were kind of outside of the forestlands where the mammals had previously been. We've moved away from that kind of northwestern area. I'm on kind of this middle ground between the six trees, we'll call them six trees, where we first made camp and this kind of wide open barren plains before we reached the trees off in the distance.
00:04:57
Speaker
in between these two, the two halves of the party are finally reunited. The party's all together and just before anyone has the chance to say anything, Shael takes a deep breath in to say to Drago, what the fuck have you been doing? Or something along those lines. Very good. Thank you very much. Suddenly behind him, these two figures just kind of appear out of no
00:05:31
Speaker
everything happens in an instant these creatures are about seven or eight feet tall they have these almost like skeletal features that it seems to be flesh
00:05:45
Speaker
the ribs deep in, the shoulders and head of almost a humanoid with this shawl around the neck. No other clothing but the shawl around the neck which seems to be formed out of shadow. The muscular arms stretch down through the ground and the arms probably reach about halfway down the legs.
00:06:01
Speaker
and then the hands are massive with these fingers that stretch probably about a foot in length and then a nail which is extended by another half a foot black nails thick black nails which she has or she whatever they are um three fingers on each hand so they're basically if they they stand straight their nails can scratch the ground from where they are about eight feet tall well just sketch like my
00:06:25
Speaker
depiction of it and it looks a bit like a knot. It sounds like a demogorgon from Strange that thinks. Round the waist of this is again a similar material to the shawl around the neck but it seems to be like a long almost like single shawl around its section which covers its legs all the way down to its
00:06:42
Speaker
feet sweet which are kind of poking out and you can see these toes like in razor sharp black nails sticking out it faces that of a skeleton but the jaw is kind of red with flesh around the edges as eyes are dark and black with the nose missing bright white
00:07:00
Speaker
just appear and both of them. One wraps its arms around the legs of Shader, the other wraps his massive hands around the face. Shader paddocks for a second as you catch his eyes before all three of them just kind of disappear into this cloud of mist and disappear. What? Sorry Callie, we're not going to do anything this round. I'm really sorry. Maybe the next episode here.
00:07:23
Speaker
Anyway, so that just happens in an instant out of nowhere. And Helio seems to be the only one that doesn't really react to it. I mean, you can all react different ways. But Tyler, for example, screams and throws herself to the ground, panicking, worrying. But Helio just stands there kind of nodding at what's just happened.
00:07:43
Speaker
to leap forwards, almost grasping at the air as it disappeared in Robin's reaction. Robin has decided to reach for the arrow in his back quiver, but I'm guessing in the speed at which this has happened, he's got his hand about up to his quiver before this is over. Jago would turn to Hayley and, do you know what they were? Do I get a sense from her expression that she's clearly seen these before? Yes, you would be able to perceive that from the way she's looking. It's almost like a, here we go again.
00:08:11
Speaker
Delta chooses to look to the expression and then sort of let's draw this
00:08:19
Speaker
actually that's where most of us have gone that's why no one's here on the island anymore it's those creatures they just appear and kidnap that's where we've all gone that's why i don't spend any time on land what do you mean gone yeah fill us in here i feel like we're more importantly what are these creatures i don't know they just appear for a second like that and then they're gone again the thing about the osmond islands is we're a land of
00:08:41
Speaker
seven, eight hundred people living in habitants in Naksar and many other places, Kelma, across the lands here. But now I'm, as far as I'm aware, the only person who is still a native of these lands that's still alive.
History of Osborne Islands and Mysterious Abductions
00:08:54
Speaker
So these are the Osborne Islands? Yes, that's what they're called. So there were 800 of you spread across several islands? Yes, it's a collection of islands and she reaches into her pocket and she draws out a map.
00:09:08
Speaker
So I'm not a cartographer. I wish there was one amongst you, but it's quite vegan. Drago is quite a man with maps. I mean, he can't read them, but he can draw them. I can draw maps.
00:09:19
Speaker
It's actually a bit vague. I'll have to go over the lines a bit, but I'll show you what I can. It's a bit mucked up by the rain. And just for you listeners, there's a very, very, very faint map. Okay, I see. So it's over there. So if you look on it, there's... I've written letters. N is Noxar. And a series of small islands. So this is where we are? Yeah, we're around here at the moment on the south coast. And Noxar is the same place? Noxar is still on the island. Yes, it's a northern area. Is that where everyone's being taken?
00:09:46
Speaker
Everyone's gone. I've been to Nox. Two Nox are. No, gone. Where do they, these creatures, these things, where do they take their victims? As far as I'm aware, they're connected to Eraqas. They're connected in a forecast where we were able to go. And this E, is that Eryth? The E. Is that Eryth? That's just the coast of Sneetgard. Yeah, it's just the the nearest part of land we have apart from us. If we're going to trade, that's... All right, this is all well and good, but you're saying that this is connected to Eraqas?
00:10:14
Speaker
I assume he's working with these people and these creatures, whatever they are. He's the one that makes a dragon, made those figures appear and disappear. The spectres. So where is he? Fallhold, that's
Eraqas' Necromancy and Fullholt Castle
00:10:26
Speaker
where we used to get all our supplies from, for mining in the lights. But now it's just abandoned, there's a big castle there. That Robin, whilst this is happening, is very aware that Shailar has gone missing.
00:10:37
Speaker
looks for the most likely scope of figuring that out seeing as halia can't offer much so i go straight to talia and i try and calm her arm on the shoulder and i say talia detect magic now if you can
00:10:52
Speaker
She's shaking and she starts going through her book, she's going to listen, she's nodding and she's kind of working on it as you said, it'll take her a while to kind of get her senses together. So I assume going to Fullholt then is the objective, if this Eric House is responsible, that was through our shade artists. Yes. That's what I would assume as well, that's what, well, we will go and drag her on myself and that's why we've come here to... But we came back for you.
00:11:17
Speaker
No, you didn't assault the castle on your own. Is there any way of war against me? Is there any way of warring ourselves against these attacks? How have you managed to avoid capture for so long? I've stayed off the island. Shut up. That's all I've done. I'm not sure if it's just he's got something against us on the Ottoman islands. I don't know if it's the closeness. I don't know.
00:11:33
Speaker
I don't know what it is, but being off the island seems to help. I mean, that's the only reason I can assume I haven't been taken. And perhaps we should move quicker than... We need to go. Discuss this on the boat. If we have to sail somewhere, perhaps we can... We're going for Eraqas.
00:12:10
Speaker
Eraqas is extremely powerful though, isn't that right? An acromancy, so. He's well-formed in the arts of magic. He must be, to be able to command such beasts as that. That's, I mean, we're making a big assumption that they're working together. Regardless, it's the only and best lead we have. I agree. Now, from where we are, it's a bit of a trek and it's not a massive boat, but to be honest, not having shade our hair is actually
00:12:15
Speaker
I don't see any other way around it.
00:12:35
Speaker
made us our journey more likely because I don't know if, I mean, Draghi, you've been on that boat, I'm doing one actually. You didn't tell yet. I'm supposed to go too. Right, we're on that boat, it's not the, the sturdy. It's quite a squeeze, yes. So I think actually it would be better, we can all fit there, it's just the way back, that if hopefully we do find shade out of it. Well, I feel remiss to ask, has anybody returned from being captured by this race? You say your name is Robin.
00:13:02
Speaker
I do. I, uh, Robin, I... The people you see here, you saw Rosard a while ago. A gent. Drago told me that he came and visited you. He wasn't real. He was a simulacra. He was a spectre. He was made up and you can't tell the difference between what's real and what isn't. So I don't know. There might be others that are still living on the island. I dare approach thinking that maybe I will end up with Erika, so I don't know. I think there are lots of questions we can probably ask you on the way.
00:13:32
Speaker
I think that's the best. Hell yeah. How do we know that you're real? She's not disappeared yet. I don't... I do not prove that I'm real, I... Just a question. I just assume... I assume you're real too. Let's take it on faith for now. I think that's all we can do. Sorry to make you question your... I know the three of you are real, because you were a dwarf.
00:13:55
Speaker
I have for the Dragonborn, I've never seen anyone like that on the island, but it's the other two, I have queries about, but they're with you, I trust them. We're all pretty real. So what do you mean to say is that if you're questioning whether myself and Talia are real, is that this relates to humans disappearing? We're all humans on the island, there's no other races.
00:14:17
Speaker
I believe that the only things that could be reformed are those that were previously here. There were no dragonborns, so I know the dragonborn must be... But no dragonborn can be reformed in an image, I see. As far as I'm aware, I've never seen one... Let's not test that theory, either. Let's... As I say, let's... We should perhaps move... Well, I'm not very much staying alive. To the boat. To the boat, yeah. It should be a bit of a walk, but once we're there, we'll sail across the fault. I'll ask... Is there any questions on the way in?
00:14:45
Speaker
We can have a think about maybe what's best to do here. Come with me and she turns and starts to make a way. Those creatures that took our comrade, do you know any witnesses they have or are they well versed in battle? To be honest, I'm not well versed in battle. I wouldn't know one when I saw one, to be honest, but they look fucking terrifying if I'm being honest. Can they be killed? I've never seen one killed, but then again, I've never seen anyone fight it. Could be some kind of construct.
00:15:13
Speaker
a necromancer, all that kind of magic could have constructed something of the kind. I don't know much about magic and voodoo and probably to a sword through it, it can die. Probably, given that your weapon is magical I would assume it would. So we're going to make our way back now to the south. Probably going to save my questions for the sailing. Past the six trees and towards the coast where we first started this encounter.
00:15:35
Speaker
Is anyone getting on this boat or what? You stood there measuring dicks again, and here I am, have literally been on the boat saying, guys, hurry up, I'm waiting. And you're just there talking about some mama. Just so you know, she's never seen this dick measure. Only Talia's seen this dick measure. No, no, but they've been having a conversation. Why has it been going on? Talia and Halle, I don't want to tell you the conversation. I think it's a lot. Yeah, you keep doing this. I don't understand why. Why are these men, isn't it? That's the problem. It's very man heavy, this show, you see.
00:16:04
Speaker
That's why all the NPCs happen to be women. Robbing classic hams again. Right, in the boat then. Let's get on then you fuckers. Do we know any sea shanties? What do you call me? I've heard a few. I've heard a few. Well I don't know what any sea shanty is. There's no rowing on this board. It's just a big wind pusher and this boat is quite rickety. It doesn't seem to, you get on it and as drivers experience it doesn't look like it should go. It just seems to, she faces
00:16:29
Speaker
wrong direction and tilts the back of the boat but everything manages to happen around her almost. You assume it must be magical until you realise no she's just very very good at what she does and quickly the boat tilts out and catches.
00:16:45
Speaker
a really quite intense wind as she starts to hurtle across the sea at a rather rapid pace, like skimming across the water as these really strong western winds pick up. It's almost like the protection of the island now is gone. It's just the, as she's referred to it as, the cold gulf. So, Halya, who are the eleven? The eleven? They're the eleven kingdoms! Well, actually there's twelve.
00:17:09
Speaker
it's confusing okay you see there's a there's a rumor oh it's a rumor it's a prophecy really he who controls the 13th kingdom controls the realm and then it's bullshit really what is the 13th kingdom well no one knows there isn't one that's the problem there's always been 11 there's always been 11 and so where's the 12th well 12th is the ember scab light
00:17:30
Speaker
See, we had a problem. I've got some friends over at the street guard way and a big part of their land just split open and the undead started pouring out. I think the zerikas might have something to do with it but otherwise it might be a one. That's the ember. Emberscar Blight. It's just an area, a whole area. Street guard now is just taken over.
00:17:48
Speaker
They've renamed bits. And it's become the 12th Kingdom. Well, that's the thing. It's the undead. They haven't got the leader, but some of the other kingdoms, they want to get to 13, so they've named it as the 12th Kingdom, and it's been ratified in law. And what are these 12 kingdoms? What are they? Are they nations? Why, the kingdoms, yeah, they're areas of land. Well, as charming as this leads on. Why do we care? Surely our only goal is to kill this. I mean, my other question would be, have you ever heard of a group called the Order of Whisperers?
00:18:16
Speaker
She doesn't hurt anything outside of this island out there. I'm just worth it, okay. She never met a dragonborn before until now. I'd say that these people are quite... Quite what? The biggest drop. The wind has dropped. You see a single bird overhead. Sheltered from otherworldly things.
00:18:41
Speaker
Fair enough, she knows, to say what to pick up again. I just figured it was worth asking the first actual person we've met at certain questions about things. Well, I haven't traveled to all 11 kingdoms, to be honest. I know there's some dwarves far, far to the west, but in Smithgard, at least, it's only humans. I used to lie. I saw one halfling there once. I might have been a dwarf person. I don't know. A short human. I'm not really sure. But Smithgard's mainly human, and I never got a drake. That's too far itself for me.
00:19:09
Speaker
As nice as this is
Journey to Fullholt and Eraqas' Motives
00:19:11
Speaker
though, Eric has. The guy we're going to kill, presumably. Hopefully. Let's find out more about him rather than giving us our details. How is best? Is he human? Is he one of you? Well, he used to be an islander like us. He used to be with us. Used to be. Well, he started getting interested in books, you see. See, a while ago he spent some time in Cleargard, which is a place in Sweetgard, and...
00:19:37
Speaker
They got a lot of books there, and he started reading up on liches. He was obsessed with them actually, and just kept talking about them. No one fucking cared, and everyone was like, shut up Eric, I see a wanker, and you know, we kept going, oh, wanker with your books, go read your books, I'll go do the fish thingy about stuff. And then he just disappeared one day, and that's when it all started happening. Everyone started going missing.
00:20:00
Speaker
If he's not a blimp for it, I don't know who is. Was he always a bit funny, or did he become more corrupt? He's always been a funny one, but it just started to really... His eyes became more sunken, his skin started to droop. It became whiter and whiter. He didn't dress like us anymore, he didn't spend time with us. He isolated himself, and then one day, just... Often those that fall down that dark path of magic do so. Elsie, you're a man of the world.
00:20:28
Speaker
That sounds like anything you know. I've heard of the seductive elements of certain magical paths. The path of necromancy often leads people to try to prolong their own life and that can cause them to do what?
00:20:46
Speaker
she describes. It's not uncommon for some magic users to become so seduced by the power that they do this. What about you Robin? I can't count anything of what you've described though I assume he's dangerous since that collectively no one's tried to stop him despite increasing dis-impereances. Do the people on the mainland know this is happening?
00:21:09
Speaker
Well, we assume they do. Nobody's been sent to help. We sent people with leptas down to Claypea a little bit more, just to get any kind of messages out. Basically, the problem is anything has to go through Goldview and Sligard, and it's just, it's the other side of the kingdom, really, and it just takes a long time. And you're, unfortunately, an outlying few islands that they couldn't... Okay. No one really cares, really.
00:21:39
Speaker
We get on well with Clay Peak, but... So, tell us about this...fall halt, this castle. Castle is what I've got to go in now, but the main reason it's there, it was mainly there to protect, it's got great mines of ore, copper ore underneath it. So what we used to sell before we lost control of the place, we sell it down to some guard, to the academies there, so they could, you know, use it to create weapons and...
00:22:07
Speaker
Other such like to fight off the blight? To go back to Aracasto and I will keep ringing this bell. Yeah, but he is on for a long way to stop you. What's his weaknesses? I don't know. I'm not a fact. I just know that I know nothing about...
00:22:22
Speaker
fighting or anything like that. I just know it's probably going to be him that's the issue here. But one doesn't seek power unless he has a cause for it. What was his reason? He never told us really, but we definitely heard the word niche. Something about being or becoming or learning or
00:22:39
Speaker
could have fallen the sway of a lich that promised him immortality, or be seeking immortality through becoming a lich. It's not uncommon. By the way, he sounds pretty fucking messed up to me. I guess it makes no difference when he's got to die. Unless either of us are secretly a wielder of godly power via their faith, we have no great advantage against him other than what we normally do.
00:23:00
Speaker
Which is... That is how you... The eventually days of unliving are people who will the faith of the gods. That is how you... That is how you overcome unliving easily. You overcome the living by putting the sword through the belly. Unliving. Unliving. It's required. So basically what you're saying is we just do what we usually do, which is you punch them to rob them. Robin, you firehouse them. Drago, you know, you'll go crazy and swing your sword and do a fireball. That's all we'll have to do. That's all we can do. Now, what about the creatures Eraqus can use?
00:23:30
Speaker
Now we've seen those creatures that took Shader, have you seen any other creatures that? No, no others apart from the way creations of the islanders that we've seen, the spirit people. So they could be used against as maybe, they could be wraith-like creatures?
00:23:46
Speaker
There's a good chance if we kill Eraqas, though. Those creatures will perish. Yes. Normally the creatures created by the Necromancer will die if the Necromancer is defeated. So rather than trying to find Shader, we should find Eraqas first. We'll make our job easy. Wait, so they're not coming back?
00:24:02
Speaker
It depends. If he's used them to copy them to create images of them, he may have had to keep the originals to create shades of them. Right. If he's used Necromantic Magic to raise them as shades, then he may have had to kill them first. And we continue to smash out over the waves. Hopefully once we defeat this Aerocast person maybe we'll be able to get to the mainland and track down the Order of Whisperers.
00:24:26
Speaker
Look just down to the south there. You see that little speck off in the distance? That's where we're heading. It's going to get a bit bumpy the other way. The waves really pick up around here, but it would be close. Rocks and many fingers to look out for. Ah, it would be fine. I've been around these parts plenty of times. What time of day is it? The sun is setting by this point, so you can see the sun just off to your left, actually. Nice orange, large sun. The weather seems very to be fine. Do we? Quite a big wind. Do we want to wait until dawn or are we going straight out of this?
00:24:56
Speaker
I mean I can book you down now if you like but I haven't got much on anchor. While this is happening I've gone to the front of the boat and I'm just looking for potential inlays on the land. I'm also looking for potential pitfalls that can entrap the boat. From this distance it's still quite far away. Amy has got a place she's willing to, she's got a place she's aiming for like another kind of bay that might be relatively protected. That's what she's
00:25:25
Speaker
As you get closer and closer, you start to make out more and more of this, probably drive you up your way by this point in the way, which would have probably got you up from your rest. And you can see up the distance, a jutting giant rock that sticks out, a cliff face that sticks out. And on top of that is the... The monkey with the lion. The remainder of some castle, which seems to kind of lead back through onto the island of Sicily. This is a much smaller island you can kind of make out
00:25:52
Speaker
the entirety of it, it's quite a small island. But you can see, almost built into these cliff faces, you can see these long, arcing, almost metallic colours coming through, that bronze colour of copper. You can see it always coming across. You can almost see the ore there. You can tell this place is an incredibly rich source of copper. But apart from that, you can't really see much more life.
00:26:17
Speaker
As Hayley starts to move the boat desperately, brings the boat round along the clifffront, you can kind of see how violently these waves are smashing against it as small rocks start to fall from some of the cliffs and she brings you round to a slightly quieter bay where the waves are more kind of subservient and calm and she can pull the boat onto a small spit of sand. In front of you is a single path that kind of leads up as she pulls the boat up and kind of
00:26:45
Speaker
helps you actually get the boat out of the water. It's a very small vessel and she's used to being out of the water so it looks in good place. Robin, what's our situation regarding potions and healing? I'm glad you asked. I'm going to have to go through the bag of polling which will take me a few minutes. Talk about it with yourselves. Okay. I don't think it's best if I come with you. No. Have you done think I do much? You don't want to put you in danger? No. Excuse me, that's not Drago's voice. You don't even have to wait around
00:27:17
Speaker
Are you gonna get off the island? Well, you can come back within a day. Yeah.
00:27:23
Speaker
you have lost a lot of people to this man and if you do not want to stay around I think we'd all understand it we could you could come back at sunset tomorrow and we'll be here waiting for you if not if not we'll find a way yeah come back in a day I appreciate it I really did not want to stay here and there is a small a very small split of land about
00:27:55
Speaker
A day's time. You do you. You do you, boo. You do you. And with that she pushes the boat. I feel like everyone would push the boat out. Always she'll go. She just takes the boat out and just disappears around the corner away. And so it's just the four of you on the island there. Now what?
00:28:15
Speaker
I've actually been very sorry to interject that I've been through the bag. We had six, I'm assuming there is still one on your buckle there, Drago, and you still have the one I gave you, Alfie. The one we gave shade are unfortunately lost. That makes it three in the bag of holding, regular healing potions, and I still have that superior healing potion that I was able to... I've got one each plus three in the bag of holding.
00:28:42
Speaker
okay that's fine i just wanted to uh plus the big one which we should only use if yeah i just want to know what so getting dark that could be an advantage to us to some yeah i can't see much in the dark either i've got a torch probably the torch does say where we are okay
00:29:06
Speaker
Yeah, but if we decide to like a torch and approach this Erechasm, he has 50 on of those creatures. We'll take 50 out. Come on. We've done greater numbers than that. I've done greater numbers than that.
00:29:20
Speaker
Not in one go, we haven't. What else do you propose? Caution and stealth. I hate both of those words. We just may well do, but we're in a situation where we don't know what we're in facing, and Shaydon's life could very much be in the balance. Exactly, or more to the point to get this done quicker. But if we go charging in there, and we face 20 of them, and we die, we serve no purpose other than dying. I don't like it, it sounds too cowardly. It's not cowardly, it's just being smart. How long are you suggesting that we be stealth?
00:29:49
Speaker
Until we, until it is no longer an advantage to us. Elfie, you've given Drago Darkvision in the past that he could do... It costs, er, yes, but it costs me a lot. It's quite draining to do so. I don't, I can do it, but it's quite draining. That's my point. I say in Elvish, he's pretty reckless when walking around with his sight clear. I dread to think what he'll be like when he can't see. And in Elvish, Elvish is going, I totally agree, but...
00:30:14
Speaker
Okay. Jago walks off into the distance north. Stuckling?
Stealth Attempt and Skeletal Guards
00:30:19
Speaker
No. As always, he's on cue to prove my point. There is actually a pathway that starts to lead up in the rocks that he can't see. So can you roll a d20 please? And on a 13 you manage to be walking in the right direction. Anything else you can walk into a wall.
00:30:35
Speaker
How is a natural one? No, it's a seven. Yeah. Which means you just ate it off a distance. Robin, Elfie and Talia are just here. Ow! As you walk directly into a wall. Ow! So Elfie will walk over to Talie as he approaches her, his eyes take on a sheen of darkness and he then places a hand on her forehead. What are you doing? And she now has, she can now see in the dark. Whoa.
00:31:04
Speaker
This is amazing. It is. Wow. It's like it's daytime again, but not. It's not. Yes. That Robin goes into the underside of his cloak, brings out his steampunk goggles. I walk over to Drago and I do the same. Don't touch me again. Him. Can you see now, Drago? Yes. How? I can take it away if you want. No. Look at Robin.
00:31:32
Speaker
He's got goggles on. He has goggles on. Looks like he's... I don't know. He does look a bit special. I don't know what a gimp was. I think that's what Robin would do. Maybe I suggest we now stealthily approach this key. Until it is no longer advantageous to us. Yes, that means the point of the alarm is right. That means what it means. I feel like he's going to hold that against you. Yeah, so do I. I have burned four of my seven kai points on that.
00:32:02
Speaker
What do you want to thank you of? No, that's me saying out of character wise. Thank you. That's four. Out of character. Out of character. I'm so glad you did that. Yeah, he's been to a wall. You gave him to Talia. She can't see. She needs to be dragging me back. She should be standing like that. Right. She appreciates it. So you're heading towards this? Stealthily. I assume you want to stay and make stealth. You're going stealthily. We all know stealthily. Yes. Do I go? Until it is no longer advantageous. Yes. Yes, we heard your rationale the first time.
00:32:31
Speaker
Then yes. Okay, could you all roll for stealthies? Robin, what did you get? 25. Wow. Ty, I rolled a 19. So who gets 20 overall? Elphir. 27. 27. Andrago. Thank you, level one rogue. 12. You got 12. Okay, that's fine. Rolls against.
00:32:52
Speaker
Yeah, they're rock. So you continue to make your way up this path. You can all see as you go and it just seems to become this kind of rocky path kind of flanked by two really sheer walls of rock.
00:33:08
Speaker
etched out of the rock. As the path slowly winds up to the right and to the left, you start to continue to make your way up. There is a moment where, can I take your order as well? Which order? I guess dry goes in the front, Tyler's at the back. Actually, I'd say I'm at the back. Alpha goes at the front. Okay, Alpha at the front.
00:33:26
Speaker
Drago I try to tell you about Robin. He's not particularly the happiest dragon board right now. I'm going to delve no fair enough as you continue to make your way up How he'd be happier just charging into my way and dying Drago as you got a tail you've got a tail. Yeah as you think you hear some behind you can you turn around and scratch the rocks and knock a few clothes off the ground everyone pauses for a second in silence Waiting to hear if anything sorry
00:34:12
Speaker
in the darkness. This is the path continue, sorry I know I'm whispering, the path continue is kind of dead end, dead corner you can't really see around at the moment but you're waiting to hear if you can hear anything that reacts to the noise because it's deadly silent apart from the crashing of waves you can hear from moist all signs as the sound reverberates around there's not much else in terms of any kind of agitation any forms of life as you continue to walk right in this corner to the right the path starts to kind of bring up your elevation starts to rise and you can only assume
00:34:21
Speaker
Before we move off, I'm just gonna, I'm literally.
00:34:39
Speaker
from your natural perception and and as you have skirted around the island with Hailey before and you're heading towards that kind of higher end of the island you first saw where this ruined castle was and yes as you come around it doesn't zigzag no it's kind of light light turns it's not quite a zig a sharp zigzag it's quite light banking turns up
00:35:00
Speaker
go ahead and try and leap ahead of the party to shore okay because we're in darkness I assume or dim light darkness I can just shadow step 60 feet ahead yep
00:35:15
Speaker
kind of jump ahead silently, kind of jumping through shadows through the very little slither of moonlight that is out there. It doesn't seem to cast much light. You make your way further up the path and you come across this kind of cave front. You can see the castle behind it looking rather impressive on this coast edge and you can hear the waves smashing up and sounding.
00:35:36
Speaker
Salthair roaring up from beneath you, probably now three, four hundred feet below where you are now. And this cave's kind of gnawed its way underneath the castle. And outside of that position are two of the figures that previously you've taken, two figures who had taken Shader, two figures that look like one of the figures that had taken Shader. They don't notice you, obviously, because of your stealth rolls. And that's when I would flip back to meet with Barta before we get too close to them.
00:36:06
Speaker
head, two guards, both the same creature that took Shader. If we plan this carefully and take them we can do so without raising the alarm too quickly. Drago's Frowl borrow, kind of frowns in, borrow kind of frowns in, his brow is in, borrow is in, borrow is in, his brow kind of creases in as if he's deep in thought, making huge mathematical equations and then he eventually says
00:36:36
Speaker
There's four of us. So, two of them go, two go for one, two go for the me to make sure that they cannot raise the alarm. There's four of us, two of them, the mafs speak for themselves. Two go for one, the other two go for the other one. Now, are we considering Matalia is not necessarily a martial character, shall we say? She's not here to start. I think she can add on her own. Alright.
00:37:03
Speaker
but my point is that I will be able to, I will probably be able to step through the shadows and be behind them to cut off their retreats when you both, you go for one, Robin goes for the other, Tali chooses one other, and I can then attack another. How long do you need? A few seconds. Okay, let's do it. And sheath my sword, which direction? So I will lead, I'll lead the way, and when we get to a point, I'll jump ahead,
00:37:33
Speaker
until we get to a point where I can then shadow. I mean, you might have to draw it out because I don't know how far I can draw. You go for the one on the right. Okay. Robin, take the one on the left. Tarly.
00:38:00
Speaker
So in front of you, you do see these two creatures that I described previously guarding the front of this cave front. Canon, just for reference, we've got a thin kind of passageway that's led out of the rock. It's been dug out of the rock and in front and probably about 50, 45, 50 feet away are these two guards that seem to be, or two guards, two creatures that seem to be watching over the entrance of the cave.
Battle at the Cave Entrance
00:38:21
Speaker
I've done it again.
00:38:22
Speaker
Thank you very much, and we have to add the result. We are not seen at the moment. We are still stealth, so we can move freely for now. So, OK. But if we get much closer, I will probably ask for a second slip. My shadow step takes me there. Before you do that, Robin would say, Elphie, I think now I see the cave, it would be good if you could position yourself in a position where you could fight as well. Well, that's why I was going to appear behind them to then cut them off. So I was going to shadow step to there. Like a plan. OK.
00:38:49
Speaker
Well, let's get all these decisions together and then we'll take stealth rolls together to see how it will work. Oh, we'll do initiative first. Yeah, let's do initiative first. So we're going to roll for... Initiative? Everyone for initiative, please. I mean, I assume people are waiting for the right position. Crit! Crit is the first one of the night. So it's just a 20. You technically have advantage on initiative, but you don't need it. Don't need it, baby. Well... Drag or die, I need it. So what's your bonus on top of that? It's 20 plus... whatever your initiative bonus is. Plus two. Because crit doesn't matter.
00:39:19
Speaker
Yeah, three. Twenty three. Yeah, twenty plus. Twenty two. And you've got a drug, you've got twenty three. How thick? One, two, three. You thought you were going stealthy. I thought the shoe was being sensible. Fifteen glass, ten glass. I love it. Robbing up.
00:39:37
Speaker
So I assume initiative won't kick in until combat triggers? Yeah, it won't kick in until Drago. What would you have to do first in this kind of round of, oh, you've still got the junk on them, they haven't noticed you. It's your stuff in the moment. I am going to... Are you going to wait for me first?
00:39:57
Speaker
How often did he get to the front view? I'm going to turn to Elphir with a little twinkle in my dragonborn eye and I'm going to wink at you and go, don't worry, I've got this. And now I'm going to move forward. Can't get there. Who can't get there? What's your movement? 40. OK. I'm not going to get all the way. No, no. Hang on. So I just winked at you, aren't I? Yeah, it's his turn.
00:40:23
Speaker
and it's moving up towards the right-hand creature. So I'm just going to stick to the side of the wall on this map and try and stay within shadows. I'm going to attempt stealth and get as close as my walking pace will allow me to to the right creature from the mouth of the cave. You do know, yes. Let's make a stealth check against there. Hence the wink and the... I got this! Seven!
00:40:49
Speaker
Okay, to be honest they rolled a 20 for perceptions, they created their perceptions so they can see time. Did they see me? Yes, 100% they've seen you. You just hitchhike after that wink and that kind of almost swag as he's kind of just trailing the edge of the wall and he's just going, I've got this.
00:41:11
Speaker
and never know when they see me. And as you move towards them, there seems to be no distinct moment where they see you. Both of these long, which is massive, long claw hands that always scrape on the ground. I'm hoping to get a surprise out. Because both of them, at the same time, just kind of turn in tandem and look directly at you and you see this. Come out of their throats where you see yourself. You've been rumbled.
00:41:43
Speaker
He's only used his movement, he can still do something if you do something. You can still do something if you want, yes. And he hits one of them. Next. Could be used later. Dodge however. Got nothing to throw. You can dodge. Get this advantage of the gate for you. I'm counting the squares to see how far my dragon fear
00:42:05
Speaker
weapon reaches because it reaches on the 30 foot um and i could make these things piss themselves but they'll run away um and raise the alarm um i don't know this is a simple simple dragonborn i'm just right simple dragonborn would be the opposite word exactly you also have your bonus action should you wish to rage yeah i'm just gonna um uh let my teammates decide what i'm gonna do for me
00:42:30
Speaker
I'm going to rage as my bonus action after I spotted that they saw me. Okay, then we're going to go into Elphir, your turn, what would you like to do? Five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty-five, thirty, thirty-five, forty, forty-five, fifty, fifty-five, sixty. So Elphir does this five times table. I was a shadow step to that. Yeah, so you shadow steps into the cave mouth behind these two creatures. So Elphir sort of flips into the shadows.
00:42:57
Speaker
it's a bonus action burst out the shadows and then because I've still got the rest of my movement move five feet and with dagger in hand it just comes out and attacks this guy from behind oh cheeky right give me a roll to hit please william so first ten ten will not hit unfortunately yeah the message is it's more dexterous than you think it manages to skip out of the way the creature looks massive and very imposing in front of you so attacks with these
00:43:26
Speaker
wrong turds tonight that's a 15 that also misses but this time he do make contact but he manages to push your dagger away
00:43:39
Speaker
and because my bonus action was to shadow step, but can't do that. Lovely, okay. Tyler's going to see that you've already got yourselves into combat here, and she's going to move a little bit. So she's got a sight line on what's going on, and she's going to strike the opposite one from your discussion, two on one, two on the other. So she's going to try and strike the opposite one, and she's going to hit, actually.
00:44:08
Speaker
three points of damage to this creature which it takes five volts which is her go-to
00:44:18
Speaker
a go-to weapon and this good hit in the shoulder bit barely seems to react it just kind of makes this glottal noise back which starts to scare the shit out of Talia slightly. Robin your turn what would you like to do? Okay Robin moves up to the edge of the cape he sees what's going on and with this he's going to take one of his silver arrows
00:44:39
Speaker
out off his shoulder and with his first attack he's going to go for this one. So the one that's currently in combat with Elphir. Yes, right. Yep, sneak attack it as well. And I will roll a 22 hits. It takes 9 points of piercing damage. Can it make a DC 16 strength saving pro please? It sails the strength saving pro. It only takes 1 point of force damage.
00:45:02
Speaker
However, it is going to move against the wall just so Alfie can opportunity attack it. Absolutely used for that then. Thank you, pardon. I've used my pushing strike. Just wrongly wrong my sneak attack damage, which I assume I can use as Alfie was engaged. Yeah, it's a finesse. Another two points, yeah.
00:45:17
Speaker
I'll take my attack opportunity. 25. That hits. Takes six points of piercing damage from my dagger. Okay. So the first one is this one here, and he's going to make a beeline straight for Drago, and he's going to come and he doesn't seem to always use his feet, he seems to always float above the ground. It's just like, it just comes straight towards you here. The Dementor. Yeah, kind of Dementor-esque.
00:45:45
Speaker
It's going to lift up these massive, massive claws it has and just swing them both round at you. It seems to like it's swinging two bodies. That's how long these are. Two hits or one? Yes, two hits. So the first one is going to be a 13 against your armor class. You're going to miss. The second one is going to be a 19 against your armor class. That hits.
00:46:16
Speaker
and you have been hard. Could be worse. Can you make a DC 14 strength saving throw? It is 24. The second creature is going to use this to help us move it to stand up and it's going to turn and move over towards outfit and do the same thing. Take two swipes at it. The first one is a 15 against your arm class. The second one is a 19 against your arm class. That does in fact actually hit. That does hit.
00:46:44
Speaker
for 15 points of slashing damage. Straight up the thing bro, that doesn't help me nine. No that has not helped you, you are now grappled by the creature while the claw grapples a target, the claw can attack only that target so you've got him linked in but you are now grappled and he had the same chance to roll. Your round.
00:47:07
Speaker
Which is after I go. Do you want a couple of round of your turn? What do you want to do? Cleave his head straight off his body, please. I hate it. It's fine. It's done. Don't worry about it. Yeah. How does a... Oh, I'm not going to do it like that. 11. That misses, unfortunately. He manages to go back just in time. Nice. 16. 16 hits.
00:47:29
Speaker
16 points of damage slashing right at his flippin neck. How much damage was it again? 16 points.
00:47:43
Speaker
No, I like to just say to him, come at me, motherfucker. And then here we go. Nice. All right, Elfie, your turn. So as this creature grapples Elfie, Elfie is just going to do what he can, and he just lets go of his dagger, and as his fists become wreathed in shadow, just going to punch it in the face. Nice. Elfie, what is going on tonight? Shader. Shader's not even close to Shader.
00:48:10
Speaker
13, not gonna do anything. No, it's gonna miss. 13, 19 does hit. Excellent. So it takes six points of magical bludgeoning damage. Thank you very much. I'm grappled, so it's gonna, then just keep punching in the face. Okay, go for it. Punch away. 20 plus, that hits on the first hit.
00:48:45
Speaker
And you can see it go, yeah, taking these hits over and over again as you beat the living shit out of it. As you turn, Tiny's going to throw a fireball, fireball, over it. She's really constantly, she's really aware now of how close they'll feel. You aren't this creature right at the back there. And she thinks a little too hard about it. And in doing so means the fireball misses off to the left. She actually curses itself. She tried. Fuck. She says quietly under her breath.
00:49:13
Speaker
Robin, you're right. What do you have to do? Last thing I heard was Drago say, come at me, bitch. I'm going to say, get away from me, bitch. And I'm going to shoot it and attempt to move it so he can opportunity attack it. OK, lovely. I'm going to spin a lock point on that.
00:49:27
Speaker
Why, what did you roll? Natural one, yeah. Isn't that your second one of tonight? Yeah, not in the first one in game. Yeah, well yeah, yeah, yeah. Good luck. That's not a natural 20, but that's a 29. Shit. Oh, through to the luck point. Eight points of piercing damage. Magical, because it's a silver arrow. And can it make a DC 16 strength saving throw please? It can do indeed. It passes. Sorry man.
00:49:52
Speaker
It takes another 6 points of force damage though. If you've seen it's not moved, I'd say belligerent fuck did you not hear me the first time and I'm going to shoot it again. I daren't try and shoot the one that's grappling off here because it's grappled in. I figure the best way of helping Alfie is to free up Drago. That's another 19. 29 hits. Can it make... I'll do the thing first, hold on. It takes 6 points of policing damage.
00:50:16
Speaker
And can it make a DC 16 pass? It's going to take proof. Mother of a bitch. And another two points of fourth down. Mother of a bitch. Mother of a bitch. Mother of a bitch. I've only got one of them left now. But it was worth it. I'm going to action search. Shit. I can see Alfie is in trouble. The action searched. I'm going to shoot it again. Do you have any bonus actions that are attached as well? 27 points. 27's a hit. 27 hits.
00:50:40
Speaker
That will take another 6 point to force damage and I'll go for the last fucking time I said get away from him motherfucker. It takes another 6 point to force damage. And that time it does fail. Drago has an opportunity to attack. I swing aiming to cleave its head from its shoulders with a 16. 16 hits. He's been pushed back. Drago takes it.
00:51:09
Speaker
what damage should you do? 20 points of damage right at him. It is fully dead so as you pull it back you take your brawn sword and swing it across its throat and it cuts through this shawl material of shadow and the head just falls off and the whole creature just falls to the
00:51:29
Speaker
dead in the headless pretty much. If it's still my turn, I'm just going to turn the technology and just nod a thanks. The body starts to shrivel ever so slightly as the cloud starts to settle. The shawl of shadow starts to settle as the creature arrives there immediately. That's now dead. Back over to... I'm going to use my movement just to try and get a sight on this thing away from Elphir. Yep. Okay, lovely. This creature, do you want to make your grapple save now? So it's DT 14. Yeah, okay. 14.
00:51:58
Speaker
meets the beats yeah you're free from its grasp it comes at me again 20 against your armor class yes that hits and a 17 against your armor class 17 meets it beats 50 points of damage that i rolled it's 3d 10 that's what i hit
00:52:19
Speaker
He would have to do a hundred and two damage a long go. He would have to do, no, in this situation from full health it would be a hundred and one damage. Thankfully he has to do like 80 something. We need to stop that thing just pounding healthily. How much? 50 points of damage full stop. Basically it was 3d10 per hit plus four and everything was a nine pretty much. So that was a high damage of both hits. Can you also make another DC 14
00:52:55
Speaker
You wouldn't need to grapple you then if you were unconscious. Like this nice big scream and then start to try and, he's gonna, the rest of his movement, his action, he's gonna start preparing you to lift your body.
00:53:10
Speaker
And that is the end of this creature's turn. Top of the round, Drago, what would you like to do?
Victory and Consequences
00:53:15
Speaker
After seeing this, I pound the dirt with my claws and I make a beeline straight for this thing. I roar and aim. Once again, I'm not going to take the head off shoulders, I'm just going to cleave it straight in half.
00:53:30
Speaker
with a crit. I hope the effects don't affect me. Do you have the stats on what happens when you roll a crit with that sword? One to 15 is nothing, 16 to 20 is instant kill. As long as it fails Constitution save. As long as it fails Constitution save. Okay, so what was it again? Just remind me. One to... Is that one per day? One to 53 charges a day. One to 15 is nothing, 16 to 20 is instant kill. Fail DC is 15, and 15 can't save. So here we go.
00:54:01
Speaker
15, nothing! That's so shit. By that, by nothing, we still double down. Still depends a challenge then on that. Still depends a challenge, yeah. You've attempted it. Basically what happens when it happens is you bring your sword up and Dangland's deception starts to glow and these fey words start to appear in the art upon the sword. The sword becomes icy cold like it has in your past. As the sword just comes down,
00:54:27
Speaker
It just fails just as the sword strikes. It's almost like the power that is in the sword has just kind of failed you at the last moment. You still feel more powerful because of it and you manage to catch this creature at exactly the right time, but just you feel like you've missed a real opportunity to just unleash Dengon's deception into this creature. But the name of my sword is Dengon's deception.
00:54:49
Speaker
more in that later 25 was the damage total from that one hit cool go for my second hit which is just gonna follow if the first hit was over my shoulder down the second hit is just gonna go
00:55:05
Speaker
15. 15 points of damage. You slice that guy. It starts like the shadow starts to encore and look around it around its neck and it starts to cut through its flesh. This black pus starting to ooze out of its inside. It falls to one knee but it's still standing as it uses its claws to stand itself back up and get each other.
00:55:26
Speaker
It starts to just unleash this noise out of this massive mouth hole, but it's still up. Elvira, you want to make a death saver? Death saver, please. Don't ruin it naturally. It's still a bit of life. I rolled a six. Six is a fail. Yes, it is. That's your first fail. Halfling bug.
00:55:44
Speaker
and Talia seeing the situation is going to move into a position where she can get a better eye on this creature and she's going to just in fury fire a fireball which will miss unfortunately the tear-stringed database as she sees Elf here.
00:56:03
Speaker
shot misses wildly over the head as you can't see through a rubbin looking more composed than that of her counterpart Talia it's your turn I see Drago cleave through this thing and I see an opening and I think to myself finger when I go to shoot at this exposed wound I'm sure I will spend a luck point on this is your second luck point
00:56:30
Speaker
So make that quick damage, actually to be honest, whatever you roll. Well my modifier's five, so it's got less than that. So if you shot you managed to perfectly penetrate the wound that Drago had caused, and this creature just seems to freeze for a second and then just crumpled down to the floor as the shawl again just starts to stop. Up until now the shawl had been kind of active and moving the shadow and moving right its neck, that suddenly becomes still and looks more like a jock piece of clothing now.
00:56:55
Speaker
as both these creatures lie on the floor contorted on the floor and we see Elfir wrapped up in this huge corpse of this creature lying unconscious on the floor and we'll have to see if he's all right in the next episode of the fellowship of the tabletop
