Week 1 Surprises & Anticipation for Week 2
00:00:01
Speaker
We told you all that week one lies.
00:00:03
Speaker
Time to find out the truth.
00:00:06
Speaker
Let's dive right in.
00:00:30
Speaker
Welcome back to Making Waves, an NFL confidence pool podcast.
00:00:36
Speaker
I'm your host, Mac.
00:00:38
Speaker
And I'm your host, Bob.
00:00:42
Speaker
And we are heading into week two of the NFL.
00:00:47
Speaker
As my co-host so very clearly stated, week one is often a liar.
00:00:52
Speaker
So I'm pretty excited to find out the truth here in week two.
00:00:56
Speaker
Let's see who is actually legit, who just had a lightning in the bottle type week, and who is going to make some moves and turn around after some pretty serious injuries that occurred last week.
Emotional Roller Coaster of Football & Fantasy
00:01:12
Speaker
There's a lot going on around the league, Bob.
00:01:19
Speaker
So much to digest, so much to chew on, so much to talk about.
00:01:24
Speaker
Obviously, a lot of injuries.
00:01:26
Speaker
One that was a little bit more polarizing than others.
00:01:28
Speaker
We'll, of course, get into that.
00:01:30
Speaker
Some crazy upsets.
00:01:32
Speaker
One of our hosts is very excited about a lot of things that happened.
00:01:35
Speaker
Another one, and you'll never be able to guess who, is pretty bummed out about a lot of stuff.
00:01:40
Speaker
And don't want to spoil anything, but let's just say the hooligans with Pick'Em.
00:01:44
Speaker
We're in it until the very last game.
00:01:47
Speaker
We'll let you know on that as well.
00:01:48
Speaker
But wow, what a week.
00:01:51
Speaker
It really was a week.
00:01:52
Speaker
It's exciting to be back in football, but it certainly brings up and stirs up all the emotions from the highs to the lows, to the nerves, to everything throughout the league.
00:02:04
Speaker
And it's exciting, but at times it can be quite stressful as we're watching games, as we're invested in these games, we're invested in these players through fantasy football.
00:02:14
Speaker
It's a lot of emotions.
00:02:15
Speaker
It's a roller coaster week in, week out.
00:02:18
Speaker
But we're sticking all the way to the end just for you guys, just for our wave makers.
00:02:24
Speaker
I wouldn't watch football without it.
00:02:25
Speaker
So I was just about to say we don't like football at all.
00:02:29
Speaker
So we're not doing this for us.
00:02:30
Speaker
We don't like doing this every week.
00:02:32
Speaker
We don't like having to watch all the games and figure stuff out.
00:02:35
Speaker
We're doing this for our
Confidence Pool Update & Waffle House Challenge
00:02:36
Speaker
So please continue giving us listens.
00:02:38
Speaker
Continue giving us five out of five rankings on Spotify.
00:02:42
Speaker
And yeah, just we don't enjoy this.
00:02:45
Speaker
We're doing this for you.
00:02:45
Speaker
So just remember that.
00:02:47
Speaker
That's exactly what I tell Nikki every Sunday.
00:02:49
Speaker
I don't want to be watching football for like eight hours.
00:02:52
Speaker
I have to be watching football for eight hours.
00:02:55
Speaker
You know, it just, it's just part of, part of my duty to the wave riders.
00:02:59
Speaker
And yes, I did just say duty.
00:03:05
Speaker
I just said duty on air.
00:03:07
Speaker
That is so embarrassing.
00:03:09
Speaker
I'm glad that I didn't say that.
00:03:12
Speaker
But yeah, I'm always emailing my professors every Sunday night saying, I'm sorry.
00:03:18
Speaker
I know I have homework for my master's program, but I also have homework to watch football.
00:03:22
Speaker
And it's a duty to do this for my fans.
00:03:26
Speaker
So a lot of times my assignments are a little late because of y'all.
00:03:29
Speaker
So keep listening because we are sacrificing a lot.
00:03:32
Speaker
Yeah, we sure are.
00:03:34
Speaker
And hey, master's program.
00:03:36
Speaker
Nice, nice work on that.
00:03:37
Speaker
Is that for NFL history or what's the master's in?
00:03:42
Speaker
Yeah, it's for NFL history.
00:03:44
Speaker
I had a bachelor in business administration at Grand Valley State University, Laker Up, and I'm getting my master's in football research and knowledge with an emphasis on the Chicago Bears.
00:03:55
Speaker
So it's a really tough, yeah, it's a tough and arduous master's program.
00:03:59
Speaker
Oh, that does sound tough to be researching about the Bears constantly.
00:04:07
Speaker
It's tough because there's just so much rich history to go through and so much to like page through with all the division championships and Super Bowl appearances and stuff like that.
00:04:15
Speaker
So it is a lot of work.
00:04:16
Speaker
I thought it was tough just because like they keep ripping your heart out.
00:04:20
Speaker
Well, it just makes it interesting to keep me on my toes.
00:04:23
Speaker
And week one definitely kept me on my toes.
00:04:26
Speaker
But the comeback of the rest of the season with the Bears is going to really make the studying and all of the research really worth it.
00:04:33
Speaker
So I can't wait for that.
00:04:34
Speaker
Okay, all right, sounds good.
00:04:36
Speaker
Well, we'll throw some random Chicago Bears trivia at you just to make sure you're going pretty good with all of your master's studying there.
00:04:45
Speaker
Thank you so much.
00:04:46
Speaker
I appreciate that.
00:04:48
Speaker
And I think I'm going to, I think I'm really going to shock and impress you.
00:04:51
Speaker
And also folks, now that we're at five minutes, I want to say we've been really long in the last two weeks.
00:04:56
Speaker
Me and Mac were both texting.
00:04:57
Speaker
We've never said that we're going to minimize the time of the episodes and not done it.
00:05:02
Speaker
But here's my promise at five minutes in our third episode of the year week two, this will be an hour or less.
00:05:11
Speaker
Okay, I take that bet any day because we all know we typically get sidetracked and that's all right.
00:05:17
Speaker
That's what people listen in for.
00:05:19
Speaker
But with that being said, it's what people want.
00:05:22
Speaker
It's what they want.
00:05:24
Speaker
We're just giving people what they want.
00:05:27
Speaker
But with that being said, why don't we go ahead and get started?
Key Injuries Impacting Week 2
00:05:33
Speaker
I know you had hinted at it prior, but Hooligans for our Confidence Pool League, that's our team name, if you didn't know.
00:05:41
Speaker
We had a shot this week, didn't we?
00:05:45
Speaker
Why don't you give us a little update for the Bucco Bucs?
00:05:49
Speaker
We really did have a shot.
00:05:50
Speaker
Also, why is our name not Making Waves in that league?
00:05:52
Speaker
Why is it the hooligans?
00:05:54
Speaker
I feel like we always say that, but it's just because we're a bunch of hooligans.
00:05:57
Speaker
We are a bunch of hooligans, and I think it's fun to say hooligans, and the hooligans are always near the top.
00:06:01
Speaker
But yes, needed to ask that real quick.
00:06:03
Speaker
So as I alluded, great word, as I alluded to at the start of the episode, Making Waves was...
00:06:09
Speaker
The hooligans were in it until the very end.
00:06:12
Speaker
And we had a great first week.
00:06:15
Speaker
And I'm going to have some shit thrown at a certain quarterback and a certain team because if Monday night would have gone differently, we would have won the Bucca Bucs already and already have gotten our money back and been playing with house money after one week.
00:06:29
Speaker
Unfortunately, as I'm sure you could take away from the tone of Mac as she was leading into this and me right now, we did not win.
00:06:35
Speaker
We got third place.
00:06:37
Speaker
Should have been second.
00:06:38
Speaker
Unfortunately, I made a little bit of a boo-boo with that one.
00:06:42
Speaker
But we finished week one with 87 points, which was in third.
00:06:47
Speaker
One behind second and 11 behind first.
00:06:50
Speaker
So we finished in third out of 27.
00:06:52
Speaker
A great strong start to the year.
00:06:57
Speaker
Sunday night, I texted Mac.
00:06:58
Speaker
I was very sad about a certain afternoon game, and I was kind of out of it.
00:07:03
Speaker
I was chatting with my dad on the phone, and I texted Mac asking if we should switch the confidence from Sunday night to Monday night.
00:07:10
Speaker
She originally said, yeah, that could be a good idea, so I just did it.
00:07:12
Speaker
And then I called, I think it was my dad, I can't remember.
00:07:16
Speaker
And then she was saying, oh, that's not a good idea.
00:07:17
Speaker
Let's just go back to what we had.
00:07:19
Speaker
I didn't see that in time.
00:07:20
Speaker
I thought I did, but I didn't.
00:07:22
Speaker
So we had nine points for Sunday night, change it to five.
00:07:26
Speaker
All that to say, we went with the Bills Monday night.
00:07:31
Speaker
And the team that was in first went with the Jets.
00:07:34
Speaker
So all we needed to do to win the Bucco Bucks was to have the Jets lose to the Bills, Josh Allen, to make me look smart having them win the Super Bowl with my preseason pick.
00:07:45
Speaker
Aaron Rodgers went down.
00:07:47
Speaker
Me and Mac are thinking, oh my gosh, we got this in the bag.
00:07:50
Speaker
And thanks to the defense, thanks to some really bad mistakes, the Jets won.
00:07:57
Speaker
The Hooligans finished in third with 87
Week 2 Predictions Begin: Vikings vs Eagles
00:07:59
Speaker
points and a little bit of heartbreak for us.
00:08:01
Speaker
But what we ended up missing, all that to say, is we missed the Chiefs at one, thanks to Mac saying that she wanted to go with the Chiefs and not the Lions on Thursday night.
00:08:09
Speaker
So we missed that for one.
00:08:11
Speaker
We missed the Bengals at 11.
00:08:13
Speaker
We missed the Vikings at 10.
00:08:15
Speaker
We missed my boys at two.
00:08:16
Speaker
Once again, thanks to Mac for just begging to go with the Bears.
00:08:21
Speaker
Chargers at three.
00:08:25
Speaker
And then the Bills at nine, which should have been five.
00:08:27
Speaker
So a little bit of disappointment, but the fact that we were in it Monday night and if one team would have beaten the other, we would have won.
00:08:35
Speaker
That's pretty exciting.
00:08:36
Speaker
So that is my very quick synopsis of what happened with
00:08:42
Speaker
Pick them week one.
00:08:44
Speaker
So quick, so quick.
00:08:47
Speaker
Thanks for keeping it nice and quick, Bob.
00:08:48
Speaker
Thank you, of course.
00:08:50
Speaker
No, that's a great explanation and no problem about Sunday.
00:08:54
Speaker
We have now worked it out where we're both going to have access to the app so that way we can make adjustments as needed.
00:09:00
Speaker
Originally, just for a little extra background, the reason we talked about switching the nine points to Monday night was because we try to sometimes give ourselves, if we're in the running for first place, we try to give ourselves a little bit of extra points to work with if we can bet on a 50-50 game in the other direction.
00:09:21
Speaker
That doesn't always work, though.
00:09:23
Speaker
If we're not in the driver's seat come Monday night, or if we're not even in second place come Monday night, that usually doesn't work to adjust it that way.
00:09:31
Speaker
So that's why I inevitably said, oh, hey, let's go back, because we had the opportunity to calculate.
00:09:37
Speaker
But by then, it was too late.
00:09:39
Speaker
We both had agreed prior, and it really didn't make that much of a difference.
00:09:43
Speaker
If we lose overall in the season by four points, I'll be coming for you.
00:09:49
Speaker
I'm shaking in my boots.
00:09:50
Speaker
I'm not wearing boots.
00:09:50
Speaker
As long as we don't lose overall by four points, we're good.
00:09:54
Speaker
I will say, though, I was looking through our points last week, and I just will say one of the hosts here on this great podcast scored 97 points in confidence pool last week.
00:10:08
Speaker
And the other scored 86.
00:10:11
Speaker
So, man, if only we had listened to that one that was 97.
00:10:16
Speaker
I won't name any names, but she just really knows her football knowledge.
00:10:22
Speaker
Yeah, yeah, yeah, she.
00:10:24
Speaker
But I'm not naming any names.
00:10:27
Speaker
Thank goodness that didn't give anything away.
00:10:28
Speaker
Yeah, I didn't give anything away.
00:10:31
Speaker
I'll keep everybody here in the dark.
00:10:33
Speaker
But, yeah, maybe next time we should listen to her a little bit more.
00:10:37
Speaker
Yeah, I think it's good that you didn't give anything away there.
00:10:40
Speaker
because we won't want any favoritism from our fans.
00:10:42
Speaker
But whoever did have the 97, because it easily could have been either of us, we should definitely listen to that person a little bit more moving forward.
00:10:51
Speaker
Yeah, that sounds good.
00:10:52
Speaker
Sounds like a plan.
00:10:55
Speaker
Well, we've got some ways to go to win the Bucco Bucs, but I am excited about the promise that we showed in week one, which is typically a crazy week.
00:11:07
Speaker
The fact that we were in the running and I'm going to just say we got second place because really we should have had we've not switched the points.
00:11:14
Speaker
So second place week one.
00:11:16
Speaker
I'm happy with it.
00:11:18
Speaker
And we're right, right up there in the running.
00:11:20
Speaker
And you are, you said it best.
00:11:22
Speaker
We put the rest of the league on notice.
00:11:24
Speaker
We absolutely did.
00:11:26
Speaker
They're going to know the hooligans.
00:11:27
Speaker
They're going to be seeing us at the top of the scoreboard a lot, top of the leaderboard.
00:11:30
Speaker
And Mojo Magic, Chip Shot, others, we're coming for you.
00:11:35
Speaker
And with that being said, do you want to give our Wave Riders a quick update on the Waffle House Challenge?
00:11:43
Speaker
So yeah, Bob and I were discussing the Waffle House Challenge, obviously, as we talked about prior to the season, or maybe it was last week, but we are going to keep track of the points scored for each of us and what we submit.
00:11:59
Speaker
Bob and I were talking, though, and I think if we did confidence pool and did those confidence points as our judge to determine who's in first place versus who's in second,
00:12:12
Speaker
It might lead to some changes down the line that we don't want to do.
00:12:18
Speaker
So, for example, if Bob is far ahead, look how nice I'm being.
00:12:22
Speaker
If Bob is far ahead at the end of the season and I was to adjust my confidence points just to try to beat him, it would obviously alter.
00:12:33
Speaker
what we decide on to submit for the actual league.
00:12:37
Speaker
So we don't want to do that.
00:12:38
Speaker
There's actual money on the line versus just a fun Waffle House challenge for that one.
00:12:42
Speaker
So we're going to keep it honest, keep it fair, and make sure that we're submitting exactly what we would have regardless of the challenge.
00:12:51
Speaker
So instead, we're going to keep it nice and tight and close and just go based on
00:12:57
Speaker
So as of right now, if you're keeping track, Bob and I picked all the same games to win last week, except for one, which was the Detroit Lions at Kansas City Chiefs.
00:13:09
Speaker
And the Lions won.
00:13:11
Speaker
So Mac takes the early lead one game above Bob.
00:13:24
Speaker
Lots of season left to be played, though.
00:13:27
Speaker
That sucks a ton, but thank goodness there's a lot of season left to play, and I don't want to spoil anything, but there's a couple games that me and Mac are different in this week, and a couple that I'm very, very confident in that we're different in.
00:13:44
Speaker
I'm very confident in the ones we're different in as well.
00:13:48
Speaker
Well, that's interesting, especially considering I got 97.
00:13:50
Speaker
Not to spoil anything.
00:13:51
Speaker
I was the one in the confidence I got 97.
00:13:55
Speaker
Bob, we were trying to tell them.
00:13:59
Speaker
I was just using pronouns.
00:14:01
Speaker
Way to spoil it, Bob.
00:14:07
Speaker
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what we do heading into this week with all of our differences, but we'll keep everybody posted with the game totals as we go week to week.
00:14:17
Speaker
I think that's great.
00:14:18
Speaker
I think this is going to be good to focus on the bucco box and not the waffles.
00:14:23
Speaker
And this makes it a little bit more interesting.
00:14:24
Speaker
So I think it's going to go down to the wire.
00:14:27
Speaker
And even if one of us makes some crazy picks
Analyzing Bills vs Jets & Bengals vs Ravens
00:14:33
Speaker
Like at the end of the season, obviously the hooligans and the buccobucks takes precedent.
00:14:38
Speaker
So this is for the best all around.
00:14:42
Speaker
And I think it's going to make it the most exciting because it's not going to go too far out of control one way or the other.
00:14:48
Speaker
I think either way, it's going to come down to the very end, which is fun.
00:14:54
Speaker
Completely agreed.
00:14:55
Speaker
And yeah, I'm excited to watch you eat a lot of waffles at the end of the season.
00:14:59
Speaker
This is going to be great.
00:15:01
Speaker
We'll see about that, but it all starts with week to week gameplay.
00:15:06
Speaker
So let's take a look at week two, what we have coming up.
00:15:10
Speaker
Obviously, Bob and I hinted at several injuries, so I'm just going to run through some of those very quickly.
00:15:17
Speaker
Biggest name on the list, I've got to start here.
00:15:21
Speaker
Aaron Rodgers, Monday night, his debut for the New York Jets.
00:15:27
Speaker
They were on hard knocks.
00:15:28
Speaker
They were a team that everybody thought they were going to be reckoned with.
00:15:32
Speaker
They were a team that I think a lot of people were super excited to see.
00:15:35
Speaker
Jets fans were coming out of the woodwork and probably the most excited they've ever been for a season.
00:15:41
Speaker
He plays four snaps on his fourth snap.
00:15:46
Speaker
He tears his Achilles, and he is now out for the rest of the season.
00:15:53
Speaker
Obviously, Bob and I joke a lot about how much we hate him, but that is something that I don't think anybody ever wants to see, especially for a team.
00:16:01
Speaker
That clearly did have potential.
00:16:04
Speaker
They still came out.
00:16:05
Speaker
They beat the Bills Monday night, primarily due to their strong defense.
00:16:10
Speaker
And I just got to say, I would be terrified of them if they still had Aaron Rodgers.
00:16:17
Speaker
Their defense with an MVP-led offense.
00:16:20
Speaker
I mean, clearly they were a team that was legitimate.
00:16:23
Speaker
And it's just unfortunate to see that happen.
00:16:25
Speaker
I know I'd be devastated if it happened to the Lions.
00:16:28
Speaker
Yeah, no, it absolutely is devastating.
00:16:31
Speaker
That's really the most accurate word to describe that injury.
00:16:33
Speaker
And as a very vocal, I don't know, I don't want to say, I don't want to say hater.
00:16:41
Speaker
I just hated when he beat us.
00:16:42
Speaker
But as a very, very vocal, I'll say disliker of Aaron.
00:16:49
Speaker
Obviously, it goes without saying that nobody wants to see him get injured.
00:16:53
Speaker
And now that he was out of the NFC North, I was excited to kind of watch and just see what he could do.
00:16:59
Speaker
And that's tough for Jets fans.
00:17:01
Speaker
It's really tough for him.
00:17:02
Speaker
And that totally changes the entire outlook in the AFC East and the entire AFC.
00:17:08
Speaker
Like Max said, they beat the Bills without him.
00:17:10
Speaker
So adding a two out of the last three years MVP to that, that's crazy.
00:17:17
Speaker
And that injury is not a quick one to come back from either.
00:17:19
Speaker
So that's just something that none of us want to see.
00:17:23
Speaker
And we're definitely going to send some swag his way to hopefully make him feel better as soon as possible.
00:17:28
Speaker
I mean, he'll probably burn it with the amount of smack we've talked about him, but that's all right.
00:17:33
Speaker
We just don't want to see anybody get injured.
00:17:35
Speaker
Even though we joke about that all the time, feel better tomorrow and all that.
00:17:40
Speaker
We don't want to see somebody get hurt, especially not going out like that.
00:17:45
Speaker
So it's just unfortunate.
00:17:47
Speaker
But we will move forward and the Jets will move forward with Zach Wilson.
00:17:52
Speaker
And we'll see what happens.
00:17:56
Speaker
Another torn Achilles, unfortunately, took out J.K.
00:18:00
Speaker
Dobbins, the running back for the Baltimore Ravens.
00:18:03
Speaker
He has just suffered through injury after injury.
00:18:06
Speaker
He is also out for the rest of the season.
00:18:09
Speaker
Got to watch those Achilles, you know.
00:18:11
Speaker
That's the weak spot.
00:18:12
Speaker
You got to watch them.
00:18:16
Speaker
I mean, I don't know if I can think of a player in the NFL, JJ Watt at the end of his career with all those season ended injuries, but JK Dobbins is so young and he's had at least two, please in the comments, the comments, I don't know where someone would comment, but send us a DM on Instagram.
00:18:37
Speaker
Like and subscribe, say the comments if I'm incorrect here, but I know it's at least two very early on season ending injuries for him.
00:18:45
Speaker
And that just sucks.
00:18:46
Speaker
And the Ravens just continue to get ravaged by injuries.
00:18:48
Speaker
So yeah, you gotta, you gotta watch out for the Achilles.
00:18:57
Speaker
So yeah, that's another bummer to see that he is out.
00:19:00
Speaker
We'll see what the Ravens do to replace him in the backfield.
00:19:03
Speaker
I'm guessing it'll be some combination of Gus Edwards and some other guys that they've got on the roster.
00:19:09
Speaker
Another running back that we really got to keep an eye on heading into this weekend, Austin Eckler is currently questionable with an ankle injury.
00:19:17
Speaker
That's going to be a big blow to the Chargers if he ends up missing this weekend.
00:19:25
Speaker
Pittsburgh for the Steelers, Deontay Johnson has a hamstring injury.
00:19:30
Speaker
He is extremely doubtful, likely for the next four weeks.
00:19:35
Speaker
That's a big blow to them as well.
00:19:37
Speaker
I know they have...
00:19:40
Speaker
Pickens, George Pickens, and Najee Harris, but obviously Deontay Johnson was a go-to wide receiver there as well.
00:19:46
Speaker
So a couple big names not to be forgotten are the other ones that we had mentioned last week, especially those guys on the pup list like Kyler Murray, Jonathan Taylor, those guys that will not be playing either way.
00:19:58
Speaker
But a lot of things moving into week two, so I think we can start by looking at Thursday night.
00:20:08
Speaker
Eastern Standard Time, the Minnesota Vikings taking on the Philadelphia Eagles.
00:20:17
Speaker
Am I hitting the ground running on this one?
00:20:20
Speaker
This is me, but I'm happy to concede the floor quickly and shortly here.
00:20:27
Speaker
Take it away, Injury Queen.
00:20:30
Speaker
So I will say, I will preface this week by saying this was an extremely difficult week for me to distribute confidence points.
00:20:39
Speaker
I went back and forth on a lot of different games.
00:20:43
Speaker
And I got to be honest, games that were 10 or higher, Bob said it perfectly earlier.
00:20:50
Speaker
He said they have no business being there.
00:20:52
Speaker
I couldn't agree more.
00:20:54
Speaker
This is one of those games, but I am...
00:20:57
Speaker
Try to stick with it.
00:20:59
Speaker
We'll see what happens.
Chargers, Bucs, Chiefs & Colts Week 2 Outlook
00:21:01
Speaker
Ultimately, the Philadelphia Eagles will be hosting the Vikings, who just lost this past weekend in a kind of surprising loss, in my opinion.
00:21:12
Speaker
But the Eagles are just a solid team all the way around, offensively, defensively.
00:21:19
Speaker
They seem to just have it together.
00:21:21
Speaker
They've got an incredibly strong defensive line.
00:21:26
Speaker
I just don't see them letting up on that, especially against Kirk Cousins, who he's got obviously some incredible weapons in Justin Jefferson, namely, but I don't know.
00:21:38
Speaker
I just think the defense is going to have a fun time playing against him.
00:21:43
Speaker
And I think Darius Slay is likely going to line up across from Justin Jefferson, and we've seen what he can do time and time again.
00:21:50
Speaker
So pretty, or I'm sorry, Slay is a safety, right?
00:21:56
Speaker
I was just going to say, are you talking about big play Slay?
00:22:00
Speaker
But actually, I think he's actually a safety.
00:22:02
Speaker
So he's not going to be lining up against him.
00:22:03
Speaker
But either way, the Eagles have enough on defense.
00:22:06
Speaker
I think they're going to be able to try and shut some things down.
00:22:09
Speaker
I am going with the Eagles here.
00:22:13
Speaker
And, oh, my gosh, this is so terrifying.
00:22:16
Speaker
This is my highest confidence game of the week.
00:22:20
Speaker
Ha, ha, very funny.
00:22:23
Speaker
Are you being serious?
00:22:28
Speaker
Have you been, Mac, you're not supposed to booze at work.
00:22:33
Speaker
Have you been drinking beers today?
00:22:36
Speaker
I've been hitting the Eagles Fly bottle over here.
00:22:40
Speaker
How many craft beers have you had today?
00:22:44
Speaker
This is actually not water in this cup.
00:22:47
Speaker
Yeah, I'm assuming it's straight vodka after what you just said.
00:22:51
Speaker
I know it's crazy.
00:22:53
Speaker
I know it's absolutely wild, especially because the Vikings are solid.
00:22:56
Speaker
Here's the thing, though.
00:22:57
Speaker
Vikings secondary, I feel like the Eagles are just going to light that up.
00:23:03
Speaker
Sorry, I just got a text.
00:23:04
Speaker
The Vikings secondary is clearly struggling through some things, as we saw last week.
00:23:13
Speaker
I mean, you're definitely right there.
00:23:14
Speaker
They're struggling through some things.
00:23:16
Speaker
I did just get a text from, it looks like there's a listener because this is live in Norway that said, didn't the Vikings win 13 games last year, LOL?
00:23:28
Speaker
But to respond to my friend from Norway, they got rid of a lot of key personnel and have a very young defense.
00:23:36
Speaker
That is not the kind of defense you want to have going up against Jalen Hurts in his electric offense.
00:23:43
Speaker
got rid of a bunch of per sorry that was a lot to text I'm just trying to catch up here oh it's fine they're listening live so you don't need to text them oh okay perfect yeah no need sex let me uh discard that from my android here good okay you make a solid point um definitely a little shocked with this first uh confidence level but hey hitting it strong with the Thursday night games and it is in Philadelphia for sure and Philly does historically own the Vikings recently um
00:24:15
Speaker
A lot of people recently.
00:24:17
Speaker
And the Vikings just lost to the Bucs.
00:24:19
Speaker
So I am not so confident in them.
00:24:24
Speaker
And did you account for the fact that Kirk Cousins is really good in primetime games, though?
00:24:31
Speaker
So that's a good point.
00:24:32
Speaker
You can bring that up in your point here.
00:24:35
Speaker
No, obviously I was being sarcastic on that because he's notorious for being terrible in the primetime.
00:24:41
Speaker
Oh, well, perfect.
00:24:42
Speaker
That works in my favor.
00:24:43
Speaker
I think he had like the most Monday night starts without a win of all time.
00:24:47
Speaker
He was like 0-9 in his first Monday night starts.
00:24:49
Speaker
Oh my gosh, golden.
00:24:50
Speaker
I'm going to go 17 on his confidence points.
00:24:52
Speaker
In that case, yeah, let me scribble mine out and say 16 with a check mark with the ding, ding, ding emoji.
00:24:58
Speaker
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
00:25:00
Speaker
Wow, I can't believe I just coughed in the mic.
00:25:02
Speaker
But yes, so I agree.
00:25:04
Speaker
All that's saying, I also do think the Eagles are going to win.
00:25:06
Speaker
I thought I had them pretty confident.
00:25:07
Speaker
I don't have them merely as high as you.
00:25:09
Speaker
You're welcome, Big T. You're welcome.
00:25:12
Speaker
Big T, Max got your back.
00:25:15
Speaker
But, yeah, I mean, I definitely think the Eagles are going to win this game.
00:25:17
Speaker
Vikings looked horrendous.
00:25:18
Speaker
Eagles won a pretty sloppy game in New England, which we said is always a tough place to start your season with Bill Belichick getting a scheme and a huge rainstorm in the East Coast.
00:25:29
Speaker
But, yeah, Eagles are the Eagles.
00:25:31
Speaker
Philly has the rowdy fans in the NFL, I'd say.
00:25:33
Speaker
And I am confident they're going to win this game.
00:25:36
Speaker
I had them at eight.
00:25:38
Speaker
So I definitely โ
00:25:39
Speaker
Didn't have them at 16.
00:25:40
Speaker
I had them a half of your confidence and I was a little sketched out about that, but we'll talk offline and we'll, we'll find a nice happy medium.
00:25:46
Speaker
Let's, let's go with that.
00:25:51
Speaker
I just was looking at that game and I was like, golden, the Eagles are going to win that.
00:25:58
Speaker
Well, hey, I like your confidence.
00:26:00
Speaker
I usually work my way up.
00:26:01
Speaker
Like I start at one in my least confidence.
00:26:03
Speaker
And then I'm like, okay, which one?
00:26:05
Speaker
Which game am I a little bit more confident about each way?
00:26:08
Speaker
And they were left at the end.
00:26:09
Speaker
And I was like, boom, you're right.
00:26:11
Speaker
The Eagles are going to destroy the Vikings.
00:26:14
Speaker
Well, I like the confidence.
00:26:16
Speaker
And honestly, that makes me feel a little bit more confident about it, too.
00:26:18
Speaker
So we'll go with that confidence.
00:26:21
Speaker
And we're just going to run with it.
00:26:23
Speaker
I will say it is a little scary to pick a primetime game, but I figured it was at home, primetime game.
00:26:28
Speaker
Their first game at home, right?
00:26:29
Speaker
Because they just played the Patriots away.
00:26:32
Speaker
First game back at Philly after the Super Bowl season.
00:26:34
Speaker
First game at home.
00:26:35
Speaker
The crowd is going to be rocking and rolling.
00:26:39
Speaker
I feel good about it.
00:26:40
Speaker
I still feel great about it.
00:26:42
Speaker
Okay, well, we will take all those points into account, and they're going to be lifting their NFC Championship banner.
00:26:48
Speaker
And as we've seen the last week or so, every time there's a banner unveiled, the team with the banner always wins no matter what.
00:26:54
Speaker
So we'll keep that in mind for sure.
00:26:57
Speaker
You're totally right.
00:26:59
Speaker
The only thing I will say, even though, because obviously you were not...
00:27:02
Speaker
you were joking about that, is that I think that could even be a little more motivation, like a chip on my shoulder.
00:27:08
Speaker
Like, yes, it's the NFC champ banner, but that should be the Super Bowl banner, right?
00:27:13
Speaker
So I think it's going to be like, boom, here we go.
00:27:16
Speaker
Let's destroy the Vikings.
00:27:17
Speaker
Week two, confidence level of 16 at least.
00:27:23
Speaker
I'm excited to figure out how we can go more than 16, but I like it a lot.
00:27:30
Speaker
Moving into the Sunday slate of games at 1 o'clock PM Eastern Standard Time.
00:27:36
Speaker
Bob is going to kick it off here with the Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons.
00:27:46
Speaker
Sorry, I just threw up all over the mic.
00:27:48
Speaker
That was such a big wavelength that showed up or like a sound wave on my screen because I can see all the sound waves between Bob and I, and it was just a huge blip on the radar there.
00:28:01
Speaker
Yeah, because I just threw up thinking about the Packers and what they just did to my boys, and I'm also throwing up thinking about who I have winning this game, not to spoil anything, but I'm a reasonable fan.
00:28:12
Speaker
I'm trying to think with my brain and not my heart.
00:28:14
Speaker
So without further ado, yeah, we got the Packers.
00:28:17
Speaker
We got the Falcons.
00:28:19
Speaker
And yeah, this game is in Atlanta, but I don't care.
00:28:23
Speaker
I have said that I think the Falcons are going to be one of the worst teams in the, I almost said the majors in the NFL.
00:28:27
Speaker
I've been watching a lot of baseball recently, go Cubs.
00:28:30
Speaker
But yeah, I think the Falcons are going to be one of the worst teams in the league.
00:28:34
Speaker
They did start off their season on a positive note, beating the lowly Panthers.
00:28:39
Speaker
So that's really the only thing that went well for me and my boys last week is since we have alluded to in past episodes, the Bears do have the Panthers number one pick and I'm cheering against the Panthers every week.
00:28:48
Speaker
So that's awesome.
00:28:49
Speaker
that the Falcons beat them.
00:28:51
Speaker
That might be one of their only wins though.
00:28:52
Speaker
Packers, everybody knows what happened.
00:28:54
Speaker
So I'm not going to hit on what they did last week.
00:28:56
Speaker
They're one and O we'll leave it at that.
00:28:59
Speaker
But, uh, yeah, I mean, Packers looked solid last week.
00:29:04
Speaker
That defense might be the best in the league and what they did to, to my boys.
00:29:08
Speaker
I think they might be a lot better than people might think heading into the season.
00:29:12
Speaker
Uh, the Falcons Ritter looks pretty solid.
00:29:15
Speaker
That combo of Bajon Robinson and, uh,
00:29:19
Speaker
Al Giers looks like a really solid duo that I did not expect in Atlanta.
00:29:24
Speaker
And I have one little, I guess, piece of shiz talk, not to make it explicit, 10 minutes away.
00:29:35
Speaker
And he says, and he promises under an hour folks.
00:29:39
Speaker
This is why we go over.
00:29:41
Speaker
Bob thinks it's about 10 minutes that we've been talking.
00:29:44
Speaker
Time flies when you're having fun.
00:29:46
Speaker
I thought we were in 10 minutes.
00:29:49
Speaker
But yeah, I got to throw a little shiz at Drake London and Ritter.
00:29:53
Speaker
I started him about three out of my eight leagues and he had zero yards and zero reception.
00:29:59
Speaker
If the Falcons have any chance in this game, need to get Drake London a little bit more involved, need to get Pitts a little bit more involved, got to get that offense rolling.
00:30:06
Speaker
But all that to say, I like kind of going around the bush when I'm picking the Green Bay you-know-whos.
00:30:11
Speaker
I got them heading into Atlanta, beating the Falcons.
00:30:15
Speaker
I got them at a confidence of seven.
00:30:17
Speaker
Okay, this is a little bit closer than our other one.
00:30:20
Speaker
We also picked correctly, or not correctly, we also picked the same on this one, hopefully correctly, as we get into this week.
00:30:28
Speaker
I also have the Packers.
00:30:29
Speaker
I have them a little lower than you for that reason, exactly like what you just said with Drake London.
00:30:36
Speaker
I think they'll hopefully get him a little bit more involved.
00:30:39
Speaker
Ritter's got to get it together a little bit.
00:30:41
Speaker
They're clearly running on their RB strength right now, which is phenomenal, but that can only last so long.
00:30:48
Speaker
So I also have the Packers lowered them slightly just because it is a home game for the Falcons, but I have the Packers at four.
00:31:02
Speaker
Moving into the next game, we have the Las Vegas Raiders.
00:31:13
Speaker
Ah, Bills, Bills, Bills, Bills.
00:31:16
Speaker
We hate you, Buffalo.
00:31:17
Speaker
You sure screwed us over.
00:31:20
Speaker
Monday night, winning at halftime.
00:31:24
Speaker
I probably jinxed us because I said, Bob, dream of the Bucco Bucks tonight.
00:31:29
Speaker
Bring it home for us.
00:31:31
Speaker
Thinking we had it in the bag, no Aaron Rodgers, Zach Wilson, who I've been just talking mad smack on for the past two years that we've done this podcast.
00:31:44
Speaker
I don't know what happened to fall apart the way that they did to just absolutely get demolished by the Jets defense when you come out in the second half.
00:31:53
Speaker
And you lost to the Jets in primetime without Aaron Rodgers.
00:31:59
Speaker
You lost to Zach Wilson.
00:32:00
Speaker
Hope you're happy, dum-dums.
00:32:01
Speaker
You lost to Zach Wilson.
00:32:03
Speaker
And my dad said it best when he texted me the next day and said, I think Zach Wilson is 10 years old because โ
00:32:09
Speaker
He looks it, but he still came out and he beat the Buffalo Bills.
00:32:13
Speaker
So good on him, Zach.
00:32:14
Speaker
I owe you some swag, man.
00:32:16
Speaker
Can you believe a 10-year-old just beat the Bills on Monday Night Football?
00:32:20
Speaker
That's crazy, actually, to think about.
00:32:21
Speaker
That is freaking wild.
00:32:23
Speaker
That is actually wild.
00:32:24
Speaker
And what a great point by Dad as well.
00:32:27
Speaker
He looks like he's 10.
00:32:29
Speaker
But, yeah, I mean, thanks a lot for motivating him because if it wasn't for all that shiz talking, maybe he would have lost that game.
00:32:37
Speaker
So this is kind of on you, to be honest.
00:32:39
Speaker
I mean, it really is on me and I take full responsibility and I apologize.
00:32:48
Speaker
But with that being said, the apology that we will hopefully accept and move forward on is from the Bills.
00:32:56
Speaker
They did reach out to me.
00:32:56
Speaker
They apologized for letting us down, for not giving us the boot go Bucs.
00:33:00
Speaker
And they said they won't let it happen again.
49ers Dominance & Giants Redemption
00:33:03
Speaker
So as we look into Sunday's game against the Raiders, this is home.
00:33:08
Speaker
Bills Mafia is home, their first home game.
00:33:11
Speaker
They're not going to go 0-2.
00:33:13
Speaker
There's just no way in my mind the Bills are going 0-2.
00:33:16
Speaker
They're about to play the Raiders, who are now led, as we've said, by Bills.
00:33:21
Speaker
Jimmy Garoppolo, who did not great, I would say, in the season opener against the Broncos.
00:33:29
Speaker
Only beat him by one point.
00:33:31
Speaker
Overall, it wasn't a great game by any means.
00:33:34
Speaker
I think the Bills have what it takes.
00:33:35
Speaker
They've just got to keep it together.
00:33:38
Speaker
I know we've been talking about his window closing.
00:33:41
Speaker
Not trying to make him nervous, but come on.
00:33:44
Speaker
Let's get a little fire under your ass here.
00:33:47
Speaker
I've got them on Sunday.
00:33:48
Speaker
I've got them at 11.
00:33:53
Speaker
I don't want to expound, expound or expand, expand, expand.
00:33:57
Speaker
That's not a real word.
00:34:00
Speaker
I got to get my dictionary back up here.
00:34:02
Speaker
on what you said, because I agree with everything.
00:34:04
Speaker
I do have the Bills.
00:34:05
Speaker
I have them a little bit more confidently in my competencies, but I had to throw a little bit of, you know what, Josh, because if it wasn't for Mr. Allen, I'm throwing the doo-doo.
00:34:16
Speaker
We've said doo-doo.
00:34:17
Speaker
We are just keeping it non-explicit this episode, y'all.
00:34:20
Speaker
But if it wasn't for Josh throwing three interceptions to the same rookie, by the way,
00:34:24
Speaker
I will mention him a little later when we're talking about the J ETS is, but if it wasn't for that and then the shot, like the unexcusable fumble at the end of the game, he literally just dropped the snap, picked it up, tried to run, fumbled the ball.
00:34:36
Speaker
I was like, I've never seen a quarterback that is as rattled as Josh Allen right now.
00:34:40
Speaker
So I guess kudos to the, the New York crazies at a MetLife stadium, the Jets fans that are always raucous, but yeah, Josh cost us 50 bucks and we will be collecting that money.
00:34:54
Speaker
So I'll be sending you Venmo requests.
00:34:56
Speaker
And weird that he texted you and the Bills texted you to apologize because I got diddly squat.
00:35:00
Speaker
So all that to say, Bills, you failed us once.
00:35:04
Speaker
Don't do it twice.
00:35:06
Speaker
I think you could beat the Raiders.
00:35:08
Speaker
You're in Buffalo.
00:35:10
Speaker
Don't do it again.
00:35:13
Speaker
Don't do it again.
00:35:15
Speaker
They're not going to let us down this Sunday.
00:35:17
Speaker
I just have a good feeling about it.
00:35:20
Speaker
And I know you're really good at transitions, but I'm going to use that into the next one.
00:35:24
Speaker
Speaking of teams that cannot let us down two weeks in a row, the Cincinnati Bengals, Joe Burrow, Mr. 275 mil.
00:35:35
Speaker
Love that transition.
00:35:36
Speaker
Oh, are you still going?
00:35:41
Speaker
Wait, did I start the last game or did you?
00:35:43
Speaker
Okay, so this is my game.
00:35:44
Speaker
No, no, no, this is your game.
00:35:45
Speaker
I just didn't know that.
00:35:47
Speaker
Put on that hosting hat, Bob, and keep it rolling.
00:35:50
Speaker
I'm just going to keep it rolling on down to Cincinnati.
00:35:54
Speaker
I don't know if there was.
00:35:57
Speaker
Rolling on the river.
00:36:00
Speaker
Was that a little bit of vibrato?
00:36:02
Speaker
That was so unlike you.
00:36:07
Speaker
That was actually somewhat good.
00:36:10
Speaker
That was really good, Mac.
00:36:11
Speaker
It sounded like it'd be good.
00:36:14
Speaker
That gave me some chills.
00:36:15
Speaker
I think you've been talking about Taylor Swift so often.
00:36:17
Speaker
Then you grabbed a little bit of her talent and used it.
00:36:21
Speaker
So shout out second week in a row.
00:36:24
Speaker
What I would give for even a slice of her talent.
00:36:27
Speaker
Well, that just sounded like a little slice of Taylor Swift.
00:36:32
Speaker
But in Cincinnati, the Bengals and maybe the most disappointing quarterback performance.
00:36:38
Speaker
I'm going to say for sure.
00:36:41
Speaker
Allen was terrible, but Joe Burrow just became the highest paid quarterback in NFL history.
00:36:47
Speaker
Three days prior to playing this game, he signed a multi hundred million dollar contract over $250 million.
00:37:00
Speaker
He inked the deal.
00:37:02
Speaker
They basically paid him a King's ransom and he went out into Cleveland and threw for 83 yards.
00:37:09
Speaker
So yeah, absolutely inexcusable.
00:37:12
Speaker
I don't, I don't care if his hand was still cramping from holding the pen to sign his brand new big fat paycheck.
00:37:18
Speaker
He should have thrown for more than 83 yards.
00:37:20
Speaker
I mean, yeah, I think the front office of Cincinnati is probably cleaning out the poop in their pants from that because they just absolutely sold โ Cleaning out the poop in their pants?
00:37:32
Speaker
They just sold their soul.
00:37:33
Speaker
They got some skid marks down there?
00:37:36
Speaker
I think everybody that had a part in that contract had some skid marks down there because they're like, oh, my God, what is going on?
00:37:45
Speaker
I think they're hoping that was just a random, terrible game.
00:37:52
Speaker
Me and Mac had them in college and our mural games.
00:37:55
Speaker
I think Joe has them too.
00:37:57
Speaker
He's Joey cool, but he's going to have to heat up a little bit this week.
00:38:01
Speaker
He's at home against the Ravens, and this was a tough game.
00:38:04
Speaker
This was a tough game because the Ravens are finally looking like they're healthy other than JK, but they've got some good pieces like Gus Edwards and another rookie running back that can step in.
00:38:15
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, they're looking like the team that can finally take the NFC North.
00:38:20
Speaker
If Lamar stays healthy, that could be a team that maybe makes a run at the AFC Championship.
00:38:24
Speaker
And they're coming off a solid win against Houston.
00:38:28
Speaker
And Bengals are coming off a horrific loss to the Browns where they scored three points.
00:38:33
Speaker
Maybe before the season, I would have looked at this and thought, okay, Bengals pretty confidently.
00:38:37
Speaker
I am going Bengals because I don't think that a Joe Burrell-led offense and a team that's been to the Super Bowl and AFC Championship games in the last two years is going to start 0-2.
00:38:47
Speaker
They're at home in Cincy.
00:38:49
Speaker
I think the weather is going to be better than it was in Cleveland.
00:38:51
Speaker
I'm not a meteorologist, but that's just a guess.
00:38:53
Speaker
So I do have Joe bouncing back.
00:38:56
Speaker
I do have the owners and the front office folks in Cincy having clean undies this Sunday.
00:39:01
Speaker
And I have them winning with a confidence level of five.
00:39:07
Speaker
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
00:39:11
Speaker
We've got our first match of the week.
00:39:15
Speaker
I completely agree with everything that you said there.
00:39:18
Speaker
And I would just add that with it moving from away to home and with it being...
00:39:26
Speaker
Obviously, against another very good opponent within their division, that's something that
00:39:31
Speaker
We need to consider, but with it moving away from a game against the Browns, who notoriously do own the Bengals, at least in the last couple of meetings, I saw some stat that we probably should have known as we were choosing, but I believe they've won five.
00:39:45
Speaker
The Browns have won five out of the last six meetings with the Bengals.
00:39:49
Speaker
And that was with all of their quarterback woes and changes with Deshaun Watson and who was there before.
00:39:56
Speaker
I can't even remember, but yeah,
00:39:59
Speaker
It's been all over the place for the Browns and for them to still be beating the Bengals, who for the past couple of years have been extremely good with Joe Burrow at the helm.
00:40:08
Speaker
It's just, yeah, I don't know.
00:40:10
Speaker
It's just a weird thing that I guess happens for the battle of the great state of Ohio.
00:40:19
Speaker
It is a great state.
00:40:20
Speaker
I would just like to apologize formally to Vince and Maddie.
00:40:24
Speaker
My co-host did reach out to me and say that I was really ruffling some feathers, that I was really hurting some feelings, and just formal apology.
00:40:33
Speaker
Never even met you guys in person, and here I am just bashing Ohio.
00:40:37
Speaker
It's a fine state.
00:40:43
Speaker
That's so big of you.
00:40:44
Speaker
That's the making waves way.
00:40:47
Speaker
We love our wave riders.
00:40:49
Speaker
And there's been a lot of swag sent to a met, to a met.
00:40:54
Speaker
What's the word I'm looking for?
00:40:57
Speaker
Amend our, oh, amend,
Cowboys Strong Performance & Humorous Ad Break
00:41:00
Speaker
to mend our relationship?
00:41:01
Speaker
I don't know why I added the A. Just mend.
00:41:04
Speaker
Just make sure everybody is happy.
00:41:05
Speaker
So look at you, Mac, being a bigger gal there.
00:41:09
Speaker
You know, I'm just trying.
00:41:10
Speaker
We're all about, you know, following our ethical and moral compass and also just, you know, our kindness compass here at Making Waves.
00:41:19
Speaker
And clearly we never talk any smack about anyone or anything.
00:41:24
Speaker
And, you know, I apologize.
00:41:26
Speaker
So thanks for accepting my apology.
00:41:28
Speaker
I hope you do anyway.
00:41:30
Speaker
And yeah, I hope you also forgive Bob for all the shit he talked about Ohio behind your guys' back too.
00:41:42
Speaker
Well, I'm glad we agree.
00:41:44
Speaker
That's going to be an easy one.
00:41:47
Speaker
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
00:41:49
Speaker
Ding ding ding ding.
00:41:51
Speaker
Oh, I don't know how I got both of our boys this week, but I did.
00:41:55
Speaker
We're looking at the Seattle Seahawks at the 1-0.
00:42:03
Speaker
The winners of the matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.
00:42:08
Speaker
They're writing Super Bowl champs.
00:42:10
Speaker
The new and improved looking hot as ever Detroit Lions.
00:42:20
Speaker
That's the crowd going wild.
00:42:22
Speaker
And that's going to be the crowd going wild at the home game for the Detroit Lions.
00:42:27
Speaker
That stadium is going to be rocking.
00:42:31
Speaker
Seattle, you think you know loud?
00:42:34
Speaker
Welcome to Detroit, bitch.
00:42:39
Speaker
Sorry, I'm getting wet.
00:42:41
Speaker
Seattle, I'm so sorry.
00:42:45
Speaker
I'm getting crazy.
00:42:46
Speaker
And I am choosing the Detroit Lions to start the season two and oh, I'm going to calm it down because I'm going to give you some legitimate reasons as to why.
00:42:58
Speaker
Oh, we're ready for already yelling and screaming.
00:43:02
Speaker
That was awesome though.
00:43:04
Speaker
I was on a little bit of a tangent.
00:43:05
Speaker
I need to take a sip of water here.
00:43:08
Speaker
Take it away for a second.
00:43:11
Speaker
So, yeah, what Mack was saying is that we both agree that the Seahawks will win this game and we can probably move on to the next one.
00:43:16
Speaker
I didn't say that, and the whistle's wet.
00:43:19
Speaker
The reason why I think the Detroit Lions are going to win this game, number one, my co-host already told me he was also choosing the Lions.
00:43:28
Speaker
Number two, home game.
00:43:30
Speaker
First home game at Ford Field.
00:43:34
Speaker
that the season tickets at Ford Field have been sold out is this season.
00:43:40
Speaker
That place for preseason, they were already talking about the decibel level in there in the amount of a difference it made for a preseason game.
00:43:49
Speaker
Imagine their very first home opener when the fans are behind the Lions' one pride, baby.
00:43:56
Speaker
Third reason, or fourth, I can't remember what number I'm on.
00:44:00
Speaker
The Seattle Seahawks last week,
00:44:03
Speaker
Finally, for the first time, we witnessed Geno Smith writing back.
00:44:10
Speaker
They lost to the Los Angeles Rams.
00:44:13
Speaker
The Cooper Cup missing Los Angeles Rams.
00:44:18
Speaker
The Los Angeles Rams that won like three games the season before.
00:44:22
Speaker
The Los Angeles Rams that had the highest wide receiver is a guy that we've never even heard of.
00:44:29
Speaker
I never even heard of him.
00:44:32
Speaker
The Seahawks didn't look great while playing that game.
00:44:38
Speaker
And now they're traveling to take on Detroit, a team that is coming fresh off of a win against the reigning Super Bowl champs in Kansas City, a team that finally believes in themselves and a team that finally has fans that believe in them.
00:44:51
Speaker
Drop the pen, drop the mic.
00:44:53
Speaker
That's why I'm going with the Lions, and I'm going with them at eight.
00:44:57
Speaker
Wait, I was looking at you and you didn't drop the pen or the mic.
00:45:02
Speaker
Well, I barely heard either of those.
00:45:05
Speaker
That was kind of crazy.
00:45:06
Speaker
I was expecting to blow my earphones out.
00:45:09
Speaker
That was a good tangent.
00:45:10
Speaker
And everything you said is very true.
00:45:13
Speaker
And I'm not going to say if it makes me happy or a little bummed out, just because I had very high expectations to be in the running for the NFC North title as well.
00:45:24
Speaker
And one of the teams that Matt just alluded to really started the season off hot.
00:45:28
Speaker
And, you know, I got to be happy for my best friend, but I'm a little scared for my boys.
00:45:32
Speaker
But all that to be said, I'm a little less confident in you for obvious reasons, just because, you know, it's not my boys and I don't have the heart and the brain working together.
00:45:42
Speaker
But I do think Detroit is going to be really, really loud.
00:45:45
Speaker
And I do think the fans are going to be really rowdy.
00:45:47
Speaker
And I do think that they're not going to struggle with a team that just really, really kind of just โ
00:45:55
Speaker
cracked the bed against a team initiative crush in Seattle.
00:46:00
Speaker
I'm going to leave it at that.
00:46:01
Speaker
I think your boys are going to win at home.
00:46:02
Speaker
I got them at six.
00:46:04
Speaker
So that was, that was also pretty confident.
00:46:06
Speaker
That was good of me.
00:46:09
Speaker
I appreciate that.
00:46:10
Speaker
And I will say, I, by no means do I think that the Seahawks are like out of it and they're going to be terrible the rest of the week or rest of the season or anything like that.
00:46:19
Speaker
I'm just riding the hot hand in Detroit.
00:46:21
Speaker
So that's, I think exactly what you were saying as well.
00:46:24
Speaker
Yeah, got to ride the hot hand.
00:46:26
Speaker
Detroit is the hot hand right now, and we're going for the Bucco Bucs.
00:46:29
Speaker
So we got to just keep riding the hot train.
00:46:33
Speaker
Ride that hot train.
00:46:35
Speaker
Ride the hot train.
00:46:36
Speaker
Chugga-chugga choo-choo, baby.
00:46:38
Speaker
Chugga-chugga ching-ching.
00:46:40
Speaker
Chugga-chugga straight.
00:46:42
Speaker
Chugga-chugga straight into the next game for the Los Angeles Chargers at Tennessee Titans.
00:46:50
Speaker
And also just a quick note, we're at 47 minutes and we're not even halfway done.
00:46:56
Speaker
I'm still sticking to my promise to the Wave Riders and I still am believing that we're going to get this done in the next 13 minutes.
00:47:01
Speaker
So chugga-chugga-choo-choo and straight to Tennessee, down south to Nashville.
00:47:06
Speaker
And we are going to get this done.
00:47:10
Speaker
And yeah, we got two teams here that started 0-1.
00:47:13
Speaker
I think we all thought one of these two teams was going to be 1-0.
00:47:17
Speaker
Chargers lost a really tough offensive battle to the Dolphins.
00:47:21
Speaker
It was an instant classic.
00:47:23
Speaker
But yeah, I mean, that was a shootout as we expected it would be.
00:47:27
Speaker
And the Dolphins ended up on top.
00:47:29
Speaker
So Chargers are looking for a little bit of vengeance.
00:47:31
Speaker
The Titans, they started off pretty lethargic against Las Vegas.
00:47:37
Speaker
And I think it's going to be a pretty lethargic season in Tennessee.
00:47:40
Speaker
All season long, DeAndre Hopkins had a pretty good start to his career in Tennessee.
00:47:45
Speaker
But I think Justin Herbert is going to listen to us saying he needs to make something happen.
00:47:50
Speaker
He needs to step it up if he's going to finally be the player that people expected him to be.
00:47:56
Speaker
He's been great in the regular season, but he needs to start winning some division titles and winning some playoff games.
00:48:00
Speaker
They're going to go into Tennessee.
00:48:01
Speaker
They're going to win this game.
00:48:02
Speaker
I'm very confident about that.
00:48:04
Speaker
And that's why I have them at a Baker's Dozen, a.k.a. 13.
00:48:11
Speaker
Yeah, I couldn't agree more.
00:48:12
Speaker
I think just the electricity of the Chargers offense, and I did mean that as a pun because they are like the bolts or whatever.
00:48:21
Speaker
So electricity, you know what I mean?
00:48:23
Speaker
But the electricity of their offense, it clearly was apparent during the game against Miami.
00:48:33
Speaker
put that against any other team, there's a really good chance that you're going to come out on top, especially here against the Titans.
00:48:41
Speaker
So yes, I also have the Chargers a little bit more confident at 15.
00:48:45
Speaker
That is assuming Eckler plays.
00:48:48
Speaker
If for some reason he is out, I would certainly consider lowering that.
00:48:55
Speaker
So I think it goes out saying we both expect LA to improve to one and one, but we'll check on the Eckler injury situation and go from there.
00:49:07
Speaker
So moving into a game that we also chose in or differently.
00:49:13
Speaker
is the Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Bucs.
00:49:19
Speaker
So no surprise here that I chose the Bucs and Bob's going to be choosing the Bears.
00:49:28
Speaker
I mean, how is that a surprise to anybody?
00:49:30
Speaker
Because you're choosing against the Bears.
00:49:34
Speaker
So the reason being, and I'll tell you, the number one reason, really the only reason,
00:49:40
Speaker
is defense and comes to defense on both sides.
00:49:44
Speaker
I think that the Bucs defense showed that they are very, very strong, very capable.
00:49:51
Speaker
They were able to shut down Kirk and the Minnesota Vikings offense, which isn't a slouch in my opinion.
00:49:57
Speaker
And I feel like they really stood out among the rest.
00:50:02
Speaker
They gave Baker Mayfield, even Baker Mayfield, an opportunity to just kind of manage his way through the game.
00:50:10
Speaker
And I unfortunately think that's what's going to happen again here.
00:50:13
Speaker
I think they get behind him.
00:50:16
Speaker
I don't think Baker Mayfield is like the best quarterback by any means, but I think he's extremely like tough and nitty gritty and will run and like head slam into people and all of these crazy things.
00:50:25
Speaker
But I think that's like kind of the grit of the box.
00:50:28
Speaker
So I think they love that and feed off of that, especially their defense.
00:50:33
Speaker
I think they're just unfortunately going to give him the opportunity to manage this game to a win.
00:50:39
Speaker
And if we look at the other side, we've got to see more from Chicago.
00:50:43
Speaker
I'm going to keep it nice, and I'm going to try because I really did want them to beat the Packers.
00:50:48
Speaker
I really, really did.
00:50:50
Speaker
That's good to hear.
00:50:52
Speaker
I also am fully giving credit to the fact that, as we say, week one is a liar.
00:50:56
Speaker
Interdivisional games can be tough, and especially against the Packers, who have notoriously won a lot against the Bears.
00:51:04
Speaker
That's not necessarily a sign for all things to come.
00:51:07
Speaker
I will give you that.
00:51:09
Speaker
I'm just concerned about Chicago not having it all in place just yet.
00:51:14
Speaker
They really couldn't get DJ Moore involved.
00:51:17
Speaker
Chase Claypool, I've seen all this stuff about how people thought he just didn't even want to be playing.
00:51:22
Speaker
And then defensively, there's just got to be some guys that step up to the plate a little bit more.
00:51:28
Speaker
And I just didn't see that in week one.
00:51:30
Speaker
So if they can show that in week two, I'm sure it will be a fighting battle.
00:51:34
Speaker
But going off of what we know and what we've seen,
00:51:37
Speaker
That's why I'm leaning towards the Bucs.
00:51:40
Speaker
And you said the confidence level of, sorry.
00:51:43
Speaker
I didn't say it yet.
00:51:46
Speaker
Why are you doing, why are you reacting?
00:51:49
Speaker
I am going with the Bucs and I'm going with them for six.
00:51:55
Speaker
That's mighty high.
00:51:56
Speaker
That's a lot higher than I expected.
00:52:00
Speaker
I was looking around at all these other ones and there are some that are just so questionable.
00:52:10
Speaker
Because who would have thought that you would have been so nice to
Redemption & Key Players to Watch
00:52:14
Speaker
And here I am just absolutely destroying yours.
00:52:22
Speaker
Apology, once again, not accepted.
00:52:25
Speaker
I do appreciate you being nice during the synopsis of the game from last week.
00:52:32
Speaker
But yeah, maybe in future weeks, just remember that I picked your boys and I was very nice to them.
00:52:39
Speaker
And now you're just going six with the Baker Mayfield led buck.
00:52:44
Speaker
So that one stings, but I'll remember that and use it later on when the Bears do win.
00:52:50
Speaker
And speaking of the Bears winning, I know everyone's going to be shocked to hear that I do have my boys bouncing back and winning.
00:52:57
Speaker
I'm not going to talk about last week.
00:52:58
Speaker
The past is the past.
00:52:59
Speaker
We can't change it.
00:53:01
Speaker
The only thing we can do is be better moving forward and be the team that people expected us to be and win the games that people expected us to win.
00:53:09
Speaker
And on paper, this is a game that people, including myself, when I say people, I say me, expected the Bears to win.
00:53:17
Speaker
Yeah, week one was not good, but not every week can be rainbows and butterflies.
00:53:22
Speaker
And I think the offensive line is going to be looking better.
00:53:24
Speaker
Justin Fields has to be better.
00:53:26
Speaker
We have to get DJ Moore more involved in the game.
00:53:30
Speaker
And I think the defense is going to be a little bit more mesh.
00:53:33
Speaker
There's a lot of new pieces.
00:53:34
Speaker
It's going to take some time to be fully working as a cohesive unit.
00:53:37
Speaker
Wow, cohesive, really good word.
00:53:39
Speaker
But I think the Bears are going to go into Tampa Bay.
00:53:42
Speaker
I do think it's going to be a good game.
00:53:43
Speaker
I don't think this is going to be a cakewalk by any means.
00:53:46
Speaker
But I do think Justin's better than Baker.
00:53:48
Speaker
I think our defense is better than Tampa Bay's.
00:53:50
Speaker
I think we have some more offensive weapons.
00:53:54
Speaker
So that's why I have the Bears going into Tampa Bay, getting the record to one and one, righting the ship a little bit.
00:53:59
Speaker
No pun intended, Buccaneership.
00:54:01
Speaker
So I have us winning at a confidence level of two.
00:54:04
Speaker
And I can't wait to gain a game back in the Waffle House Challenge thanks to my boys.
00:54:09
Speaker
Well, I guess we'll see what happens.
00:54:13
Speaker
I am hoping that I can convince you offline to go with the box.
00:54:15
Speaker
I just feel like they have the edge here.
00:54:17
Speaker
They're also at home, but we'll talk about it.
00:54:20
Speaker
I'm going to be nice.
00:54:21
Speaker
I don't think you'll convince me, but we'll go from there.
00:54:24
Speaker
Well, lucky for me, I have access to the app now, so I can just go in and change it.
00:54:33
Speaker
Okay, let's look ahead to the Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Jaguars.
00:54:41
Speaker
Jaguars or Jaguars?
00:54:44
Speaker
See, I think all season I'm going to go with the Jacksonville Jays because I don't know.
00:54:47
Speaker
I don't think either of us do, to be honest.
00:54:49
Speaker
Jacksonville Jays, obviously, big thing here.
00:54:53
Speaker
I know this is your game, but we'll be looking for sure to see if Travis Kelsey is back.
00:54:59
Speaker
That's going to be an injury that we are definitely tuned into.
00:55:03
Speaker
So we'll be chatting offline and that'll change the confidence levels.
00:55:06
Speaker
I think, I mean, for sure.
00:55:09
Speaker
I am assuming before I jump into this, I'm assuming that he's healthy because I saw that he is expected to practice today.
00:55:14
Speaker
So based off of that, I am going to go with, I think that he's going to play and I'm going to be going off of that.
00:55:20
Speaker
obviously, if that's not the case.
00:55:21
Speaker
But assuming he plays and Chris Jones just agreed to a contract with the Chiefs, so he will be active, I believe, as well.
00:55:32
Speaker
Yeah, between the Chiefs and the Bengals and...
00:55:36
Speaker
Uh, the bills, the three headed monster in the AFC, or at least the three headed monster we expected to be at the top of the AFC with them all losing in week one, the chiefs fall right into the, that, uh, little trio of teams that I don't think are going to go.
00:55:48
Speaker
Oh, and two to start a season.
00:55:50
Speaker
The chiefs lost at home as Mac, uh, so excitingly alluded to last week.
00:55:55
Speaker
Uh, and they had a little bit of a Superbowl hangover, but they're going to have some pieces back.
00:56:03
Speaker
And I just think they have so many more weapons and there's so much better of a team than the Jags who did start the season one and O against a pretty pathetic Colts team.
00:56:13
Speaker
No offense Indy once again,
00:56:16
Speaker
But yeah, I think the Chiefs are going to go into Jacksonville.
00:56:19
Speaker
I think they're going to win.
00:56:20
Speaker
They're going to figure it out.
00:56:22
Speaker
And I'm pretty confident in that just because I'm confident in Patrick Mahomes being one of the best quarterbacks of all time.
00:56:28
Speaker
So I have the Chiefs going into J-Ville and winning at a confidence level of 11.
00:56:34
Speaker
So pretty confident for a team that started the season 0-1-1.
00:56:38
Speaker
No, not a bad choice.
00:56:39
Speaker
I'm right up there with you.
00:56:43
Speaker
I was working under the impression that Travis Kelsey will be back.
00:56:46
Speaker
And as you mentioned, Chris Jones will also be back.
00:56:50
Speaker
So fully agree with what you said there.
00:56:52
Speaker
And I'll just move right into, I have the Chiefs and I have them at 10.
00:56:56
Speaker
So just one below right there.
00:56:58
Speaker
Pretty dang close.
00:56:59
Speaker
Look at us starting to figure it out.
00:57:01
Speaker
Pretty dang close.
00:57:03
Speaker
Let's hope we are close on this next game.
00:57:06
Speaker
As you mentioned, the Indianapolis Colts, who just unfortunately lost to the Jags, they, this upcoming Sunday, will be taking on the Houston Texans down in Houston.
00:57:18
Speaker
For me, I think it was really pretty exciting to see some flashes of Anthony Richardson.
00:57:25
Speaker
He had a pretty good NFL debut, all things considered, especially against Jacksonville Jags, who their defense is no slouch.
00:57:33
Speaker
I think that the Colts did a nice job at really feeding into his strengths.
00:57:38
Speaker
And of course he still had some issues.
00:57:40
Speaker
He threw a pick, maybe more than one.
00:57:43
Speaker
I think it was only one, but that's kind of, he's known for throwing some interceptions.
00:57:48
Speaker
I think he's going to have a lot to work through as he,
00:57:51
Speaker
gets acclimated to the NFL.
00:57:53
Speaker
But ultimately, I do think it is going to be enough to take on the Texans this upcoming weekend.
00:58:00
Speaker
I know the Texans are at home.
00:58:02
Speaker
I know the Colts are on the road.
00:58:05
Speaker
I just feel like I didn't get a great sense for anything from the Texans.
00:58:10
Speaker
I know they play the Ravens, who are a very difficult squad to really show much.
00:58:15
Speaker
That's a hard opening week for a brand new quarterback.
00:58:20
Speaker
I think the reality is we saw more from Richardson than we did from Strout.
00:58:24
Speaker
So I'm going with that.
00:58:26
Speaker
I'm going with the Colts.
00:58:28
Speaker
I am keeping it very low just because these are two teams that are very new and we don't know a lot about them all just yet, but I have the Colts at two.
00:58:40
Speaker
And very good reasoning there as well, because I too agree that Richardson had a better NFL debut than Strout.
00:58:49
Speaker
I'm realizing that I'm kind of going against what I said a couple weeks ago when I shockingly had the Texans at second place in that division.
00:58:56
Speaker
Ahead of the Colts, I had the Colts in fourth.
00:58:58
Speaker
Who did I have in third?
00:59:02
Speaker
I think I had Texans at two.
00:59:05
Speaker
Titans at three, yes.
00:59:06
Speaker
And Colts at four.
00:59:08
Speaker
But here I am choosing the Colts over the Texans in Houston.
00:59:11
Speaker
So I'm sure the Wave Riders are screaming, what the hell is this guy talking about?
00:59:17
Speaker
After, yeah, like Mac said, seeing the quarterbacks, using my eyes to kind of perform the eye test on this one, I think the Colts are going to win this game.
00:59:28
Speaker
Their defense is a little better.
00:59:29
Speaker
They have some more pieces than the Texans.
00:59:31
Speaker
I'm a little bit more confident than Mac in this one, which is also kind of going against myself there, but pretty, pretty low.
00:59:39
Speaker
I got the Colts winning at four.
00:59:41
Speaker
Wouldn't be shocked at all, Houston, sorry, if the Texans win this game, but I got the Colts at four, and, uh,
00:59:47
Speaker
We'll see what happens.
00:59:48
Speaker
Also, we just hit an hour.
00:59:49
Speaker
We'll have it under an hour next week, I'm sure.
00:59:51
Speaker
Yeah, I was going to say, going against yourself.
00:59:55
Speaker
I don't really think the fans are shocked at this point, considering all the things that have led up to this.
01:00:00
Speaker
But also, perfect example.
01:00:02
Speaker
You said for sure under an hour.
01:00:04
Speaker
And here we are in an hour and 16 seconds.
01:00:07
Speaker
I'm sure nobody would have thunk it.
01:00:09
Speaker
And if I was a gambling man, I would have definitely gone with under.
01:00:13
Speaker
But another lost bet.
01:00:16
Speaker
Well, that's why you lose a lot of money on bets, Bob.
01:00:21
Speaker
No, I've never lost any.
01:00:25
Speaker
Well, let's keep going along.
01:00:28
Speaker
And here's a sure bet.
01:00:30
Speaker
It's time for a word from our sponsors.
01:00:36
Speaker
I wasn't expecting this.
01:00:39
Speaker
This third episode of the season, Making Waves 2023, week three.
01:00:48
Speaker
Is brought to you by Dawn Disho.
01:00:54
Speaker
Don, don, don, don, friends of you and me.
01:00:58
Speaker
Put it on your dishes to make them clean.
01:01:02
Speaker
Don't put it in your cup cause that wouldn't taste very good.
01:01:07
Speaker
Clean your dishes, don't drink, don.
01:01:09
Speaker
Do, do, do, do, do.
01:01:11
Speaker
Dawn, here for washing off your nacho dish, your beer glass, and all NFL food and drinks.
01:01:24
Speaker
You actually, it started so strong.
01:01:27
Speaker
Sometimes I think you just got to, you know, like quit while you're ahead.
01:01:30
Speaker
But it honestly, overall, great, great ad.
01:01:33
Speaker
I really like you.
01:01:33
Speaker
It's hard to quit when you're ahead, as you know, and here I know.
01:01:37
Speaker
I know it's really hard because usually on that last one, you just think you got to keep going.
01:01:42
Speaker
Here I am pitting out again.
01:01:45
Speaker
What a good advertisement though, especially with all the rhyming in the beginning.
01:01:49
Speaker
That was phenomenal.
01:01:52
Speaker
That's a step up from last week.
01:01:54
Speaker
I appreciate that.
01:01:55
Speaker
And I'm going to, I'm going to run with it.
01:01:59
Speaker
You also did say for cleaning all of your NFL food and drinks, but that's okay.
01:02:06
Speaker
I, sometimes I black out during those.
01:02:08
Speaker
I don't know what I'm saying.
01:02:08
Speaker
So at least it was.
01:02:11
Speaker
Cleaning the dishes that they go in.
01:02:15
Speaker
That's exactly what I meant.
01:02:18
Speaker
It was really great.
01:02:22
Speaker
You came out strong.
01:02:24
Speaker
Thank you so much.
01:02:27
Speaker
Actually two teams that came out strong week one.
01:02:31
Speaker
The San Francisco 49ers and the LA Rams play Sunday afternoon, 4.05 p.m.
01:02:40
Speaker
Eastern Standard Time.
01:02:44
Speaker
Yeah, like you said, both of these teams came out strong.
01:02:48
Speaker
One of them we expected to come out strong.
01:02:49
Speaker
Another one we didn't as much.
01:02:52
Speaker
Yeah, shout out to the Rams, shout out to Stafford.
01:02:55
Speaker
Without Cooper Cup, with him heading to the IR, as the injury queen told us last week, not a lot of people had the Rams in that one in a very tough place to play Seattle.
01:03:04
Speaker
I know the hooligans didn't have them winning that game, but
01:03:07
Speaker
They didn't just win.
01:03:08
Speaker
They won pretty convincingly.
01:03:10
Speaker
Stafford just turning these random receivers into gold, finding diamonds in the rough everywhere he goes.
01:03:14
Speaker
And I mean, maybe that was the missing link last year is just having Maddie staff in there.
01:03:18
Speaker
So shout out to them.
01:03:19
Speaker
That's an awesome way to start their season.
01:03:20
Speaker
And this game is in LA.
01:03:23
Speaker
So they are having their first home game sitting at one and one, but I,
01:03:26
Speaker
Unfortunately for them, they got the big bad Niners rolling in town and the Niners looked just as good, if not better, to start off their season.
01:03:34
Speaker
Brock Purdy, I mean, who would have thunk it after he was Mr. Irrelevant all of a sudden leading his team into the NFC Championship game last year, starting off the season in the
01:03:43
Speaker
Pittsburgh, shout out Hines, and just having a convincing win against a pretty solid Steelers team as well.
01:03:49
Speaker
So Brock riding high, McCaffrey riding high as always, Debo was looking solid, Kittle pretty good, and that defense led by multi-hundred-dollar, hundred-million-dollar Mambosa was looking strong.
01:04:02
Speaker
So all that to say,
01:04:03
Speaker
I think the Niners are going to win pretty convincingly.
01:04:06
Speaker
I have them going into LA and knocking off the 1-0 Rams at a confidence level of, once again, a little higher than I'd like, but this is a tough week.
01:04:16
Speaker
I got them at an actual dozen at 12.
01:04:20
Speaker
Ding, diddle, ding, ding, ding, ding.
01:04:24
Speaker
Wow, two this week.
01:04:27
Speaker
No, I couldn't agree more.
01:04:28
Speaker
And the only thing that I would add is that
01:04:33
Speaker
I think, unfortunately for the Rams, though, sharing that stadium with the Chargers and then also just being like a somewhat new team to the area, they don't really get a lot of like home love, like, or really a ton of like home field advantage other than like not traveling.
01:04:49
Speaker
But the fans don't necessarily, I think, make as much of a difference.
01:04:53
Speaker
And for these LA teams, unfortunately, just with them sharing the stadium and then also playing another team from California, I'm sure there will be a lot of 49ers fans there as well.
01:05:02
Speaker
So yeah, totally agree.
01:05:03
Speaker
San Francisco at 12.
01:05:07
Speaker
Ding, ding, ding, ding,
01:05:19
Speaker
This was kind of like a hard one for me-ish, only because we didn't see too much from Daniel Jones to start the season.
01:05:30
Speaker
I think, though, a big factor for that is because they were playing the Dallas Cowboys.
01:05:35
Speaker
Not only is it an interdivisional matchup week one, it's also against an extremely solid defense in the Cowboys.
01:05:44
Speaker
I think that's kind of what led to their woes.
01:05:46
Speaker
I don't anticipate that they will have the same level of competition in Arizona against the Cardinals, unfortunately.
01:05:53
Speaker
However, I will say the Cardinals did show up a little more than I thought.
01:05:56
Speaker
I thought they were going to get absolutely blown out by the Commanders.
01:05:59
Speaker
Granted, it's the Commanders, but I thought they were going to lose by a lot more, and they made it competitive against the Commanders, who have some strong offensive weapons.
01:06:09
Speaker
I think this will be maybe somewhat close game, but I'm hopeful that the Giants are going to be able to pull it out.
01:06:16
Speaker
I have them, again, kind of scary high, not in double digits, but seven.
01:06:25
Speaker
If you thought seven was scary, just wait to hear my confidence level.
01:06:32
Speaker
You really believe in Eli there, huh?
01:06:41
Speaker
You didn't, but I just for some reason heard believe and I just wanted to say it real quick.
01:06:46
Speaker
So I don't know how I'm this confident with a team that just lost.
01:06:49
Speaker
No offense, Eli, James, Amo.
01:06:52
Speaker
But a team that just lost 40 to nothing at home to start the season.
01:06:56
Speaker
I mean, after the Bears game, I didn't think it could get much worse than that.
01:06:59
Speaker
But who Sunday Night Football proved me wrong, especially when it's against your rival.
01:07:05
Speaker
That was pretty rough.
01:07:07
Speaker
Cowboys looking scary.
01:07:08
Speaker
We'll get to them next game.
01:07:09
Speaker
But yeah, Cardinals also did give the commanders all they could handle.
01:07:14
Speaker
But I mean, I got to think the Giants can have a bounce back game.
01:07:17
Speaker
They're not going to be playing in the weather.
01:07:18
Speaker
They're going to be indoors in Arizona against Josh Dobbs.
01:07:22
Speaker
I think the Giants, they were a playoff team last year.
01:07:24
Speaker
They won a playoff game.
01:07:26
Speaker
I got to think they're going to come back and they're going to have a revenge game.
01:07:30
Speaker
This is going to make you want to vomit.
01:07:32
Speaker
Speaking of throwing up, but I got the Giants at 14.
01:07:40
Speaker
Apparently there's not water in this Yeti either.
01:07:44
Speaker
I was going to say you're hitting the bottle at work too, but.
01:07:48
Speaker
Well, that would make sense if I had a job right now, but that's what happens when you go to Tanzania for a month.
01:07:55
Speaker
You got to, you know, you got to.
01:07:57
Speaker
I'm just messing with you.
01:07:58
Speaker
That's also what happens when you're going back to get your master.
01:08:00
Speaker
So kudos to you for getting your master's truly proud of you.
01:08:04
Speaker
Masters in Chicago bears.
01:08:05
Speaker
Very important stuff.
01:08:07
Speaker
Very, very important.
01:08:11
Speaker
That's a little bit of a scary difference, but we will figure that one out as it gets closer, as you pay attention to any sort of injuries, changes, et cetera, et cetera.
01:08:22
Speaker
Et cetera, et cetera, for sure.
01:08:24
Speaker
Et cetera, et cetera.
01:08:25
Speaker
So as you mentioned, next game, we will talk about them.
01:08:28
Speaker
New York Jets at Dallas Cowboys.
01:08:35
Speaker
Two teams that won big time games to start their season.
01:08:39
Speaker
Obviously, we already chatted about how the Jets beat the Bills and broke our hearts.
01:08:43
Speaker
But we also chatted about how they lost their MVP quarterback and they're stuck with Mr. Wilson.
01:08:49
Speaker
Cowboys, I mean, I don't know how you can have a more impressive start to your season.
01:08:54
Speaker
I have a lot of fantasy leagues, but I have one where I have the Cowboys defense and they scored me 56 points in fantasy, which is literally unheard of.
01:09:04
Speaker
They were all over the field.
01:09:06
Speaker
They were forcing turnovers.
01:09:07
Speaker
They were smoking guys left and right.
01:09:10
Speaker
I mean, it's hard to get better than how the Cowboys defense looked.
01:09:14
Speaker
Dak didn't have a great game.
01:09:16
Speaker
CeeDee Lamb didn't have a great game.
01:09:17
Speaker
Pollard didn't have a great game.
01:09:19
Speaker
They didn't need to.
Cowboys vs Jets: High Confidence in Cowboys
01:09:20
Speaker
The defense had their backs and they won 40 to nothing in New York against a playoff team.
01:09:23
Speaker
So Cowboys are impressive.
01:09:25
Speaker
I thought they were going to be a playoff team after week one.
01:09:28
Speaker
I don't want to, I don't want to be too crazy here.
01:09:30
Speaker
That's like a, a NFC championship contending team with how they looked there.
01:09:35
Speaker
So all that to say in Dallas, Zach Wilson, Buckeye,
01:09:40
Speaker
behind center i don't think they're gonna stand a chance uh they have a great defense so i think this could be a low scoring affair but the cowboys defense is going to be all over zach wilson like white on rice and i think cowboys are going to win this one pretty handedly and i can't believe i'm saying it oh my god i was just rope again i got the cowboys my most confident of the week at 16 no offense jets but zach wilson ain't it
01:10:10
Speaker
I mean, I'm not surprised as you were talking, I was thinking about it and I realized you hadn't picked 16 yet.
01:10:15
Speaker
So I assumed that was probably going to be your one.
01:10:19
Speaker
I think this is probably going to be the lowest scoring game of the weekend.
01:10:23
Speaker
If I had to pick one, these are two extremely solid defenses.
01:10:30
Speaker
It's all that you're drinking right now.
01:10:33
Speaker
It's, it's the water.
01:10:38
Speaker
Yeah, I think the Jets are going to give Dak a hard time.
01:10:41
Speaker
Honestly, I think their defense is really going to show up as well and try its best to give Zach Wilson opportunity after opportunity.
01:10:50
Speaker
Ultimately, though, when you look at the offensive side of the ball, the Cowboys have that pretty handedly.
01:10:55
Speaker
And they also do, I think, defensively, too.
01:10:57
Speaker
I think they're just a stout defense.
01:10:58
Speaker
That's going to eat Zach Wilson up.
01:11:00
Speaker
They also now have a week to plan for him.
01:11:04
Speaker
I honestly think that's what did the Bills in.
01:11:06
Speaker
They've been planning, planning, planning for Aaron Rodgers.
01:11:09
Speaker
That's who they've been looking out for.
01:11:11
Speaker
He goes down on the fourth snap of the game.
01:11:13
Speaker
They have to completely shift their entire game plan and mindset.
01:11:17
Speaker
And yes, the Jets also did on offense, but he's out there every day practicing with the second string guys.
01:11:23
Speaker
Like they've at least got some sort of a rhythm.
01:11:25
Speaker
Now that the Cowboys have had a week to prep for a Zach Wilson-led offense, I think they're going to have no problem.
01:11:33
Speaker
I think they're going to shut him down, and I think that's what's going to win them this game.
01:11:36
Speaker
I've got it at 13, just a little lower than you, but ultimately still 13.
01:11:41
Speaker
Man, we just do not have confidence in Zach, and I think for good reason.
01:11:45
Speaker
I would apologize, but I'm just not a fan of the guy, so I'm not going to apologize on this one.
01:11:49
Speaker
We really don't have a lot of confidence.
01:11:50
Speaker
And I mean, maybe we should have more as they just beat the Bills, but I think it was the defense that beat the Bills.
01:11:57
Speaker
I don't know that it was Zach Wilson.
01:12:00
Speaker
I think it was absolutely the defense and special teams.
01:12:02
Speaker
And yeah, I mean, definitely wasn't Zach.
01:12:07
Speaker
Yeah, totally agree.
Broncos vs Commanders: Unpredictable Battle?
01:12:10
Speaker
Um, looking ahead at the last game of the afternoon slate, the Washington Commanders at Denver Broncos.
01:12:20
Speaker
Oh man, this one was tough for me, but in a not good way.
01:12:25
Speaker
These ones are always hard.
01:12:26
Speaker
Like when they're extremely competitive teams, like the Chiefs and the Bengals, and we have that a little confidence.
01:12:34
Speaker
Like you could go either way, 50-50.
01:12:36
Speaker
But unfortunately, this is the fully complete opposite, 180 degrees from there.
01:12:40
Speaker
This could go 50-50 because I don't think either of these teams really have that much going for them.
01:12:47
Speaker
They're not bringing a lot to the table, at least in week one from what we've seen so far.
01:12:51
Speaker
There is a lot to be seen from both of these teams, I would say.
01:12:57
Speaker
Ultimately, I did give a slight edge to the home team here.
01:13:01
Speaker
Reason being, I think Denver's a really difficult place to play.
01:13:05
Speaker
Ultimately, I think that their defense might be able to have an impact on Sam Howell as he's still getting his sea legs under him a little bit.
01:13:15
Speaker
And you know what?
01:13:16
Speaker
All I'm going to say is fool me once, shame on you.
01:13:18
Speaker
Fool me twice, shame on me.
01:13:20
Speaker
So if I choose the Broncos here,
01:13:22
Speaker
and they stink again, I'm going to be furious, just like we were all last season.
01:13:27
Speaker
But I'm going Broncos at my lowest confidence of one.
01:13:31
Speaker
I don't know if I can do a ding-dilla-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding on this one because I'm choosing the opposite team, but we have the same confidence level.
01:13:37
Speaker
Okay, that's fine.
01:13:38
Speaker
So that makes me feel good.
01:13:40
Speaker
I kind of just spoiled the surprise, but I am going Broncos.
01:13:47
Speaker
Ding, diddly, ding.
01:13:48
Speaker
On to the next one.
01:13:49
Speaker
No, I, I, I, I think I still have some PTSD from Russell Wilson.
01:13:55
Speaker
Well-deserved PTSD.
01:13:58
Speaker
Yes, they screwed making waves and the hooligans over a lot in 2022.
01:14:03
Speaker
And I just don't think I'm ready to forgive yet.
01:14:05
Speaker
And I think that's very reasonable.
01:14:08
Speaker
Commanders, I don't really have any reason to fully trust them.
01:14:10
Speaker
They barely beat the Cardinals, like we were saying.
01:14:12
Speaker
And this is in Denver.
01:14:14
Speaker
But the Broncos just lost to a not-so-great Raiders team.
01:14:18
Speaker
Yeah, it was Raiders.
01:14:19
Speaker
Raiders team in Denver.
01:14:21
Speaker
I'm not confident, obviously, putting one on it.
01:14:23
Speaker
But, yeah, I can't really trust the Broncos until they show me a reason to trust them.
01:14:30
Speaker
And I think the Commanders defense is a little better.
01:14:31
Speaker
So I'm going to go with Commanders to go into Denver, Mile High City, and I got it at one.
01:14:41
Speaker
I mean, I don't blame you by any means.
01:14:43
Speaker
The Broncos sure have screwed us over a time or two or 10 times.
01:14:52
Speaker
It's hard to trust them, but I'm hopeful that them being home.
01:14:57
Speaker
It's just something about, yes, they had a tough game, but the commanders also...
01:15:03
Speaker
didn't do great against the Cardinals.
01:15:06
Speaker
That's kind of what it was for me, but we'll talk about it.
01:15:08
Speaker
We'll figure that one out.
01:15:10
Speaker
And yeah, at least it's low for both of us.
01:15:14
Speaker
And I think we're heading into the Sunday night game here, if I'm not mistaken, which also means that we have our second sponsor of
Oreos, Dolphins' Strong Start & Wavemaker Debate
01:15:23
Speaker
And I think we're all super excited to hear about it.
01:15:26
Speaker
We are, we are heading into the Sunday night game.
01:15:29
Speaker
It is that time again for the second sponsor of,
01:15:33
Speaker
And before this podcast, I was snacking on a great little snack known as Oreos.
01:15:39
Speaker
So this week two of the NFL 2023 season is brought to you by Oreos.
01:15:51
Speaker
Hey, hey, listen to me now.
01:15:55
Speaker
Oreos, wear the cookie crown.
01:16:00
Speaker
Chocolate and cream.
01:16:05
Speaker
Eat up some Oreos because I said you should.
01:16:11
Speaker
It's my official sponsor of Making Waves.
01:16:16
Speaker
Wow, you really brought it home there.
01:16:17
Speaker
I didn't know how you were going to rhyme that.
01:16:20
Speaker
What do you rhyme?
01:16:22
Speaker
Yeah, good and should.
01:16:24
Speaker
It takes the cookie crown.
01:16:25
Speaker
I don't think Chips Ahoy would like that.
01:16:28
Speaker
It takes a cookie crown.
01:16:29
Speaker
I got to say the first two lines of the cookie crown, listen to me now.
01:16:33
Speaker
I was workshopping that a little bit.
01:16:35
Speaker
The good and the should, that's off the dome, but I was workshopping the beginning a little bit.
01:16:39
Speaker
That's not allowed.
01:16:40
Speaker
I got to be honest.
01:16:42
Speaker
I was eating Oreos before and I was like, I know this is going to come up.
01:16:45
Speaker
So I'm going to do one about Oreos.
01:16:47
Speaker
Shout out to Oreos and shout out to you for an awesome rhyme there.
01:16:51
Speaker
And yeah, it's good to know that you have not been fully turned off to treats after the donut punishment last year on air.
01:17:00
Speaker
But I'm really happy to know that you're still crushing.
01:17:02
Speaker
I haven't eaten many donuts since that time, but I am still eating Oreos.
01:17:08
Speaker
I don't think anybody can blame you for that.
01:17:10
Speaker
Happy to hear that Oreos are still a great treat.
01:17:12
Speaker
And honestly, what a good NFL snack.
01:17:17
Speaker
And if they're dirty, just use some Dawn dish soap on the NFL food, the Oreos.
01:17:22
Speaker
The two ads teaming up.
01:17:24
Speaker
Teaming up to take on week two.
01:17:28
Speaker
Heading into Sunday night, 8.20 PM.
01:17:33
Speaker
Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots.
01:17:40
Speaker
And I believe this is my game, and, Mac, I wanted to warn you during your Wavemaker situation, but you forgot about your Wavemaker of the Week, which is a bummer.
01:17:53
Speaker
I know the fans are going to be really bummed that you can't give it to the entire team and organization that you wanted it to.
01:17:59
Speaker
But my wave maker of the week, my wave maker.
01:18:04
Speaker
It's almost like I, it's almost like I remembered in the moment.
01:18:08
Speaker
You purposefully didn't tell me.
01:18:10
Speaker
I was thinking about letting you know, and my hand seized up, and I couldn't type in the chat.
01:18:15
Speaker
It must have been a point they were talking about.
01:18:17
Speaker
But in this game, the Dolphins versus the Bats, my Wavemaker of the Week is a part of one of these teams.
01:18:25
Speaker
Spoiler alert, he's on the team that won last week.
01:18:27
Speaker
Spoiler alert, he's the quarterback.
01:18:30
Speaker
Spoiler alert, his last name is very hard to say, but I'm going to try, Tua Tagovailoa.
01:18:34
Speaker
And he was a stud week one.
01:18:38
Speaker
Shout out to he had so many things happen to him last year that were unfortunate with the concussions and the end of his year getting totally derailed just because of the head injuries and those struggles and the Dolphins really, really faltering because of that.
01:18:55
Speaker
But on Sunday in Los Angeles, this man went 28 of 45.
01:18:58
Speaker
He threw for three touchdowns.
01:19:00
Speaker
He had a record 466 yards and an 110 QBR, which is absolutely bonkers.
01:19:13
Speaker
Nearly played a perfect QB game.
01:19:15
Speaker
Had a couple throws that the window was like a ball's width to get through the window, and he was able to get it to his receiver.
01:19:24
Speaker
A lot of the time it was Tyreek who had a crazy game.
01:19:26
Speaker
But, yeah, a huge win for the Dolphins to start off their season and an amazing job by Tua.
01:19:33
Speaker
So kudos to you, man.
01:19:34
Speaker
You're the first wave maker of the year.
01:19:36
Speaker
Should have been the Lions.
01:19:39
Speaker
And we'll send some swag your way, man.
01:19:43
Speaker
But you're just getting so excited there about how you lied to me, or not lied to me, how you withheld information about my Wavemaker of the Week that you forgot to let me do this flash sound.
01:19:55
Speaker
So it's not actually official.
01:19:57
Speaker
So I'm just going to say my Wavemaker of the Week.
01:20:03
Speaker
Was the entire squad from the Detroit Lions.
01:20:06
Speaker
So that is unfortunately the official first wave maker.
01:20:10
Speaker
Y'all are going to be getting some swag.
01:20:11
Speaker
But also, let's pour one out for Tua here too.
01:20:17
Speaker
Second wave maker of the year.
01:20:20
Speaker
I'm sorry, wave maker of the week.
01:20:24
Speaker
That's not allowed.
01:20:24
Speaker
That will not fly.
01:20:26
Speaker
And the fans know that Tua is the first Wavemaker of the Week.
01:20:30
Speaker
Good win, but first is the best, second is the โ oh, that didn't work out.
01:20:35
Speaker
Anyways, we got Dolphins Pats.
01:20:38
Speaker
Speaking of my Wavemaker of the Week, I think he's going to start the season 2-0.
01:20:42
Speaker
This is, once again, in New England.
01:20:53
Speaker
2-0 for the Dolphins.
01:20:57
Speaker
Happy Dolphins fans.
01:21:00
Speaker
Once again, it's always tough winning in New England, especially for a primetime game.
01:21:04
Speaker
But the Dolphins offense... Oh, Mack just dropped her pen and it sounded like an atomic bomb went off in my ear.
01:21:09
Speaker
Sorry about that, Wade Riders.
01:21:11
Speaker
But the Dolphins are going to start 2-0 and...
01:21:15
Speaker
Yeah, I have them pretty confidently going into New England, winning that game.
01:21:18
Speaker
Once again, kind of scary, but 10.
01:21:20
Speaker
If you think that's scary.
01:21:24
Speaker
I also have the Dolphins.
01:21:26
Speaker
I think they're going to go into New England, which is a tough place to play.
01:21:30
Speaker
But they just, oh, you've got to be kidding me.
01:21:32
Speaker
Bob just purposely dropped his water bottle into making an atomic bomb in my ear.
01:21:40
Speaker
An eye for an eye.
01:21:43
Speaker
I agree the Dolphins are going to win this game in a tough place to play up in New England against a very difficult coach in Bill Belichick.
01:21:52
Speaker
Ultimately, though, the Patriots didn't show that much for me to consider them here.
01:21:57
Speaker
The Dolphins, as Bob mentioned, were extremely electric to a phenomenal job.
01:22:02
Speaker
If you can stay healthy, Dolphins are going far, especially with this switch up now with the Jets losing Aaron Rodgers.
01:22:08
Speaker
I think Dolphins have a great potential to fight for that first place spot with the Bills.
01:22:13
Speaker
So I got Dolphins.
01:22:22
Speaker
As we head into spooky season.
01:22:25
Speaker
Man, well, we're going to have to talk offline and figure out where to meet in the middle on that one.
01:22:29
Speaker
Lots of spooky games this week, especially these interdivisional games, which we have two on Monday night.
01:22:35
Speaker
One starting at 7.15 p.m.
01:22:38
Speaker
The New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers interdivisional matchup.
Saints vs Panthers: Defensive Strength & Predictions
01:22:46
Speaker
Could really go either way, especially because it's also a primetime game a lot of times.
01:22:51
Speaker
These things are unpredictable, as we very clearly saw on Monday night.
01:22:56
Speaker
Ultimately, though, this one comes down, again, to defense for me.
01:23:00
Speaker
The Saints have shown a solid defense.
01:23:03
Speaker
They've been able to hold their own.
01:23:07
Speaker
They just did against the Raiders they just played last week.
01:23:16
Speaker
No, the Saints beat the Titans.
01:23:18
Speaker
Oh, duh, duh, duh.
01:23:20
Speaker
Sorry, the Raiders and the Broncos played.
01:23:22
Speaker
The Saints just beat the Titans last week with their defense.
01:23:26
Speaker
They're doing okay, I feel like, with Derek Carr.
01:23:29
Speaker
I feel like that's a bit of an upgrade for them.
01:23:31
Speaker
They've had a little bit of a QB carousel as well ever since Drew Brees left.
01:23:36
Speaker
So I think it's going to be nice for them to see a little bit more consistency and a good game manager in Derek Carr.
01:23:42
Speaker
I think they're going to give it to the Panthers, who are still getting used to a new rookie quarterback-led offense.
01:23:50
Speaker
So I have the Saints at, again, spooky season, scary high of ninth.
01:23:57
Speaker
Diddly ding, ding, ding, ding.
01:24:02
Speaker
Three diddly ding, ding, ding.
01:24:05
Speaker
Three the same and now three different choices.
01:24:10
Speaker
I also think it's pretty spooky, but I'm glad I'm not alone with this nine.
01:24:16
Speaker
I think the Saints are definitely the better team than the Panthers.
01:24:18
Speaker
It is a primetime game in the beautiful state of North Carolina.
01:24:22
Speaker
Shout out North Carolina.
01:24:23
Speaker
Shout out more specifically Arden, but yeah.
01:24:26
Speaker
Yeah, it's always tough choosing in a primetime game against the home team.
01:24:31
Speaker
But I just think the Saints defense, like Mac said, and I think the quarterback situation with Carr versus Bryce.
01:24:38
Speaker
Bryce has a bright future, but he's not quite there yet.
01:24:42
Speaker
And thank goodness for the Bears that their future number one pick is going to start out 0-2.
01:24:47
Speaker
So I got the Saints, and obviously I got them at 9.
01:24:51
Speaker
And that's why I sang.
01:24:53
Speaker
Okay, sounds good.
01:24:55
Speaker
So just an hour later from kickoff, Monday at 8.15 p.m., we're going to travel a little bit further north.
01:25:03
Speaker
The Cleveland Browns are taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers in another interdivisional matchup.
01:25:08
Speaker
Another game, primetime television.
01:25:12
Speaker
And this is one, the last one that Bob and I have chosen differently.
01:25:18
Speaker
Ultimately, man, I feel like I'm saying this a lot.
01:25:22
Speaker
It's coming down to defense.
01:25:23
Speaker
The Browns, very clearly.
01:25:25
Speaker
Yes, I know it's a little bit fluky when they won against the Bengals.
01:25:31
Speaker
It was a game that they have notoriously held kind of a little bit of a hold over the Bengals.
01:25:39
Speaker
It looks different than any other matchup may for those reasons.
01:25:45
Speaker
But the reality is they just held the highest paying quarterback of all time to 83 yards, I believe you said it was.
01:25:56
Speaker
Are you still in my game right now, by the way?
01:25:57
Speaker
I just wanted to make sure.
01:25:59
Speaker
Oh, yes, I am stealing your game.
01:26:01
Speaker
Okay, continue on.
01:26:02
Speaker
I just wanted to confirm.
01:26:03
Speaker
But yes, continue.
01:26:06
Speaker
Do you want me to pump the brakes and you take it over?
01:26:08
Speaker
Nope, you're excited.
01:26:09
Speaker
You're throwing the nuggets in our mouths.
01:26:10
Speaker
Just keep it going.
01:26:12
Speaker
I was like, I'm stuffed over here.
01:26:13
Speaker
Can you just pass me the bike?
01:26:15
Speaker
Please, no more food, but she's just stuffing the cheeky nuggies in my... I'm so sorry.
01:26:21
Speaker
Just keep throwing the nuggets my way.
01:26:23
Speaker
Man, now I've just lost my train of thought.
01:26:25
Speaker
Oh, good job, Bob.
01:26:27
Speaker
And we only have three minutes to keep my promise as well.
01:26:31
Speaker
Oh, right, right, right.
01:26:32
Speaker
Okay, well, anyway, what I was trying to say, and I'll wrap it up here quickly.
01:26:36
Speaker
They held now the highest paying quarterback, highest paying player, I think, of all time.
01:26:41
Speaker
283 yards last week.
01:26:44
Speaker
I understand it was in the rain.
01:26:45
Speaker
I understand it was in Cleveland.
01:26:46
Speaker
I understand there's a little bit of different circumstances, but I'm sorry.
01:26:50
Speaker
If you can hold Joe Burrow to that, and if you can bring that same energy into a game against an interdivisional rival as well,
01:26:58
Speaker
You are looking good, and it's not even just another rival.
01:27:02
Speaker
It is a rival who is not as good as the Bengals.
01:27:06
Speaker
The Steelers don't have as much as the Bengals.
01:27:08
Speaker
So if you can shut the Bengals down, you can take out the Steelers, I think, no problem.
01:27:14
Speaker
Not to mention they lost Deontay Johnson, who is, I believe, their wide receiver one.
01:27:20
Speaker
It's just not looking great for the Steelers.
01:27:22
Speaker
They've got a long way to go.
01:27:25
Speaker
I think the Browns got a little bit more on defense than we give them credit for.
01:27:28
Speaker
That's why I'm going with them.
01:27:30
Speaker
And I'm going with them at three, and I'm sorry I stole your game.
01:27:34
Speaker
This is our second half.
01:27:36
Speaker
Oh, I have to lay ding.
01:27:38
Speaker
So technically we have five games with the same confidence level on it, which is great.
01:27:42
Speaker
This is once again, we have the different team winning.
01:27:46
Speaker
And no, no problem stealing my game.
01:27:48
Speaker
I'll just remember this next time when the Bears and Lions play and I'll probably steal that if it's yours.
01:27:54
Speaker
Yeah, Mac is going Browns.
01:27:57
Speaker
I'm going Steelers.
01:27:58
Speaker
I just, I have a tough time believing that the Steelers are going to start the season 0-2.
01:28:03
Speaker
And I mean, the best nugget that I've used is that
01:28:08
Speaker
head coach Mike Tomlin has never had a season under 500.
01:28:11
Speaker
And obviously I was the one that found that juicy nugget.
01:28:14
Speaker
So I think he is going to figure it out.
01:28:17
Speaker
He has a week to prepare.
01:28:18
Speaker
It's at home, catch up, shout out, Heinz field and the Browns.
01:28:24
Speaker
They held maybe the best offense in the league to three points.
01:28:27
Speaker
That defense is looking scurry.
01:28:29
Speaker
They have miles Garrett and co, but I think that,
01:28:34
Speaker
The Steelers are going to be able to win a grimy, just kind of like rough game at home.
01:28:40
Speaker
But I have it at three.
01:28:41
Speaker
I'm also not very confident in it.
01:28:43
Speaker
But yeah, we got a lot to figure out here tomorrow because we have three games, not the same.
01:28:49
Speaker
So big week for us, big week for the Waffle House Challenge.
01:28:53
Speaker
And next week, we're for sure going to keep it under an hour, no doubt.
01:28:59
Speaker
Stop making promises.
01:29:01
Speaker
You can't keep, Bob.
01:29:02
Speaker
You're over there shuffling your mic around too, but that's all right.
01:29:07
Speaker
We've got a lot to figure out offline.
01:29:09
Speaker
We will figure it out.
01:29:11
Speaker
We will let you know next week when we finally say come the Bucco box.
01:29:16
Speaker
I have a feeling who against are going to be in the running yet again.
01:29:20
Speaker
League is on notice.
01:29:22
Speaker
Let's take it home.
01:29:23
Speaker
We're going to take it home.
01:29:24
Speaker
Leagues on notice.
01:29:25
Speaker
Can't wait to come back with some good news.
01:29:26
Speaker
And more importantly, can't wait to, uh,
01:29:28
Speaker
Come back with Bears being one-on-one.
01:29:30
Speaker
So on that great note, we're going to let you go.
01:29:33
Speaker
Thank you all so much for hanging with us.
01:29:36
Speaker
This is going to be a great week.
01:29:38
Speaker
And let's see who is lying week one.
