Introduction to the Podcast

00:00:00
Paige
Where are you?
00:00:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome to being Beyond the Pitch, daily women's football podcast brought to you by the Global Sports Podcast Network. And today you have the Italian duo again.
00:00:20
Paige
I'm very Italian today. yeah Exactly.
00:00:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Did you not just come back from Italy? You must be super fluent now, no?
00:00:29
Paige
Well, very much so.
00:00:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, okay, okay. Did you go and check all your venues, everything?
00:00:37
Paige
ah Yes, yes.
00:00:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Beautiful, fantastic. Great, great,

Her Game 2 & EA Partnership

00:00:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
great, great. Okay, so today's topics, um we are gonna talk about Her Game 2 partnering with EA. Incredible, what Her Game 2 is doing right now to bring more women into the game and to make it feel like it has to be this way. Then we're gonna have a bit of a chat about the championship.
00:01:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
We're talking about tables, clashes, what's happening in the next weekend, what happened this weekend. Very, very interesting. And then talking about next weekend, we're going to have a quick chat regarding the fact that this is going to be the women's weekend. So big, big, fruity weekend. Also the club, actually all the clubs playing, and that they are playing at home or playing at the big stadium.
00:01:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Great, great, great. What is happening? I see a lot of marketing, a lot of advertising, a lot of pushing. A lot of them will be televised. Very, very exciting. Very exciting weekend with some really great games as well. But let us start with the first topic.
00:01:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
So Her Game 2 has partnered with EA to do what exactly, let me explain. So what is going to happen is basically ah the fact that Her Game 2 basically, if if forre anyone that doesn't know Her Game 2 is a campaign, is a campaign to e eradicate sexism especially and within football and to create a safer space for women or female identifying people that want to come and watch football, and I'm not talking just the women's football, I'm talking about any football, feeling safe, feeling allowed, feeling that they belong, feeling like they want to. ah One of the reasons because many women have not been to watch a game is because they don't feel safe.
00:02:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
some of them they don't have friends or they don't have friends that go to football not that they don't have friends sorry that sounded really bad they don't have friends that want to go and experience football with them so they find themselves in a very I don't know how do I say in a place where it's like, well, I don't want to go on my own because I don't really feel super safe. I don't know anyone, et cetera. I'd like to. So they end up sometimes watching football just at home, often on their own or following obviously on social channels, et cetera. So what we want to do with hair game two is actually bringing more women
00:03:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
into the football space and feeling like they participate to it. So what the partnership with EA Sports will do is that they will allow a certain amount of women in any of the clubs that have actually partnered on this initiative to be invited, complimentary thanks to EA Sport, to actually watch a game. And it started on Saturday with Brentford. I love Brentford, they're always so up to any of this initiative. They're just such a great club in that way.
00:03:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
And basically, yeah, I mean, so women went to the G-Tech community stadium on Saturday and it was great because the bees hosted Bournemouth and they won. So what a great, great experience for some of these women that have attended the game for the first time altogether with one of the ambassadors and advocates from her game too.
00:04:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
and felt safe and obviously they were Brentable supporters so their team also won.
00:04:24
Paige
Yeah, definitely. I think,

Challenges in Women's Football

00:04:25
Paige
you know, her game too has been sort of long standing within the game um and has been sort of campaigning and doing a lot. And we've seen, you know, a lot of partnerships between them and clubs and stuff, but it's always been a bit like, well, it's great, but like what more can they do? And I think this initiative is is exactly that. I think, you know, even in um some of the articles that I've read about it, they even feel like being given a platform to sit alongside EA Sports is is massive for them. And I think obviously,
00:04:53
Paige
what they're now able and capable of doing through this. um as long like As much as obviously getting women two games, but you know one of the barriers I ah i often think with just getting to football matches period is being able to actually get tickets. like they become so difficult and so inaccessible for people, especially in the Premier League that you know it's kind of like you have to have been there months and months and months ago. You have to have done you know and attended previous games. And I still find that massive struggle within the men's game is that because there's it's such it's in such high demand, just even being able to you know obtain tickets. So I definitely think you know this giving the opportunity for fans to get along to the to the stadium, to feel the atmosphere and the fact that it's across both the Premier League
00:05:37
Paige
um and the championship, right? And then obviously the WSL as well, but also just an encouragement to sort of like get out there and and just watch football and and be present in those stadiums because there definitely is a space for us, even if at times like we feel a little bit isolated, you know, the the their games are are there and and they're not that they're not to be missed, are they? So I think it's a great partnership and something that I think, um you know, hopefully we can continue that along and and see more of this sort of thing um and more accessibility for fans to get to games, both men's and women's.
00:06:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah and it's um I mean the work that the advocates and the ambassadors of her game to do is fantastic. A little disclaimer here I just would like to let everybody know I am also one of the advocates so I have a soft spot for what they're doing but it's for me this This partnership for me, it's so beautiful because when I had my, I'm going to call it interview, but it was more like a chat, let's say, to explain why I wanted to be an advocate and what I would have loved to do for
00:06:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
for in in within my role this was one of it not the partnership with EA but ah working towards bringing people complementary at least for the first time to watch the game people that have never experienced especially women of course and and female identifying but ah to to really experience the game killing in a sort of way that type of barrier which is sometimes economical fine.
00:07:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah For some of the game exactly like you said the difficulties in finding tickets But also like okay, I find a ticket. Let's say I find a ticket I don't know what I'm gonna be sitting like if you don't know the stadium you've never been there You don't know who's around you.
00:07:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
You don't know it whilst by having some sort of package of tickets then you make sure that you collaborate and you work with this with with the club and and you know with the ticketing team and to have everybody sitting in the same space so you know you're going with this you know it's a bit like what we do when we did we see you with three it was really beautiful because we were all sitting together so we entered the stadium we went up there we were all sitting together we experienced the game today together it was just really nice and i i did say to them you know when i when i attracted to rupa who is the ceo
00:07:57
Paige
Yeah.
00:08:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
of her game too I said to her I said this is what I this is you know this is my vision to be able to collaborate with clubs especially if you're talking about championship or WSL isn't they are not always sold out um and and so you have more opportunity maybe to do something like that obviously if you want to go and watch I don't know I'm just going to say Manchester City, Manchester United, men's game, big derby, it might be a little bit more difficult to to be able to allocate an amount of tickets. ah But then if you go into other games, you can see it's not always sold out and and and people can start to experience the game in that way.
00:08:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, I got to experience the game many times thanks to people inviting me in know hospitality or other things. And it's just beautiful to to have that type of nourishment. But it's also very nice you know that you you kind of like feel part of this team. Obviously, you meet other people that support the club with you. You might be able to create your own little bubble of people that always go and watch the game. And if you can't get the ticket,
00:09:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
maybe you decide to go to a local pub together them and watch the game and create that type of things and you know one of the things I love about football is the fact that it should represent hand-in-hand community yet
00:09:27
Paige
Yeah.
00:09:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
often most of the fans are still quite lonely and isolated.
00:09:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I really, really, I am so on board with this initiative. Like when I read it on, it was a Friday, I think, before we went to do, before we went to the launch and the watch party, I just, you know, I just went straight into our Slack channel and I was like, Oh my This is incredible.
00:09:40
Paige
Yeah.
00:09:59
Paige
go Yeah.
00:10:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
This is like, I am so happy. um I'm just really happy.
00:10:03
Paige
yeah
00:10:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I would like to congratulate all of the team that worked hard on the partnerships and um looking forward to see what is going to lead.
00:10:08
Paige
Yeah. Yeah. 100%.
00:10:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right, so second topic

Championship Competitiveness

00:10:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
of the day is the championship. I know we talk a lot about the WSL, we had a couple of podcasts about an incredible weekend, last weekend as well. But yeah, I'd love to chat a little bit more about the championship because I think it's very interesting. i It's beside, to be honest, beside the bottom three, and I'm sorry to say that,
00:11:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
But everything else is still really quite open.
00:11:11
Paige
Yeah.
00:11:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
You've got like one, two, three, four, five, six, seven teams. Seven teams out of 11. They are all there in within three points.
00:11:23
Paige
Yeah, exactly. I think.
00:11:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
How competitive is that? It's beautiful.
00:11:26
Paige
Yeah, no, it's really good to see. I think, you know, so often we've always sort of not complained, but maybe complained about the disparity between, you know, the top clubs or the clubs that seem to be seeking, you know, the most, um,
00:11:40
Paige
like upward trajectory right and I think the the championship have done a really great job in sort of encompassing a lot more clubs within it and them to be successful within it. I think even, you know, even some of the clubs towards the bottom of it, so your Sheffield unit United, is your Blackburn Rovers, your Portsmouth, like they're still really big clubs. So to me, it's still quite a surprise that those three, Sunderland included, let's let's go, you know, 8, 9, 10, 11 are actually so far off pace because to me and from my experience of playing like Blackburn Rovers have always been you know quite a competitive team, quite a good setup, they're well run. They've got that that partnership with the men's side and there is there does seem to be growth and progression with it, but obviously this season they're seriously struggling. But you know even those bottom floor teams are still massive clubs within themselves and I think
00:12:34
Paige
You know, they're not they seem far off the pace now, especially the bottom three. But I think as a whole, like they're really not all that far away from, you know, potentially being a bit closer to the top. So I think, yeah, the championship have done a really great job in making sure that all of those teams can reap success within this division. um And hopefully that then shows that they're able to then compete as they move up to the WSL, because I think that's always the big struggle as well. You know, it happens in in even the Premier League. So it's not it's not a new struggle that, you know,
00:13:04
Paige
second division teams will find. um But I think if you put the work in and you get put the fundamentals in place, which obviously the likes of Birmingham and London City, you know, you and I have already talked about the work that London City are doing, in um you're then able to see that they there is success for them within the champion within the WSL should they get promoted.
00:13:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm hmm.
00:13:23
Paige
and But yeah, really competitive season and a really competitive one. And I think, you know, there's there's teams that have probably done better than expected, but also teams that have done, you know, maybe not as great as expected. So that's yeah, the excitement of of the championship is definitely real.
00:13:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, and and it's it's really interesting because last year I was reading an article, well, last season, sorry. I refer it to last year, but it is last season. I was reading an article on how, and this is the men's, but how the men's championship attendance, yeah, from a fun point of view in England is higher than the Serie A attendance in Italy.
00:14:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, the overall throughout the whole season, obviously for some games, no, but if we are talking about the whole season.
00:14:13
Paige
Yeah.
00:14:15
Paige
Yeah. Yeah.
00:14:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I was just like, wow.
00:14:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I asked some of my friends, and they were just saying, well, the quality is much higher. not And I'm not talking just about the quality of what you see on the pitch. I'm talking about the whole experience.
00:14:19
Paige
yeah
00:14:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
So the stadiums are nicer, the hospitality is nicer. And hospitality, I don't mean just the posh side of the stadium.
00:14:30
Paige
Yeah. Yeah.
00:14:36
Paige
Stitting in hospitality, yeah.
00:14:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
But it's just like the choice of food, the choice of drinks, you know, how many points of sales do you have? How do you get welcome when you walk into the stadium? Like all of it, right? So that type of like fun experience, which is something I love. It's like that. And I love this. I love what this is happening because by being quite competitive as it is right now you do want to go and watch a game you do want to like for example i wasn't able because i was working at the stadium but on sunday i would have loved to go down and watch the lionesses the london city lionesses playing you know birmingham so like the top clash
00:15:16
Paige
Yeah.
00:15:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
But then this weekend, unfortunately, I have to travel, so I also won't be able. But on Sunday, they are playing Durham. So they are all like quite big.
00:15:24
Paige
Yeah.
00:15:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
But also the other ones, like i want to go I want to go and watch a Charlton game. I think they are doing fantastic this year, not just in how they're playing, but also like in their fun engagements and their media and how they're pushing the narrative.
00:15:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
and where the girls are playing. like everything I want to go and experience that. and and And I think by raising the quality of all of it, just you will be able to attract more people because the tickets are still very affordable.
00:15:54
Paige
yeah
00:15:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
And this is also something where I think it's great to start to get new funds into the game, you know to get them to really experience it. I mean, Charlton, if we have to think about the catchment area, even just the walking distance from the stadium, you're talking about thousands of thousands of people living there.
00:16:16
Paige
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
00:16:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Some of them might have never been to a football game. ma Some of them might have never been to a stadium. Some of them might not even be aware of the fact that you have that opportunity at that price to go and watch that type of football.
00:16:24
Paige
Yeah.
00:16:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it's all about that.
00:16:34
Paige
Yeah, not 100%. And even, you know, Charlton, if you look back

Charlton's Legacy & Fan Engagement

00:16:38
Paige
in the history books of how big of a club, how many amazing players, coaches have come through the Charlton ranks and how well that they were doing, you know, in that top division, well, before the WSL became the pro league, like, you know, Charlton are a massive club. for So for them to be, you know, in the championship, but also still reaching some success. But also, like you said, that catchment area that they're in, you know,
00:17:02
Paige
the the easy accessibility to get to that stadium to see that level of football you know unfortunately can't be said across the country so I definitely encourage anyone that's like that area based to definitely make the most of it because it is an unreal opportunity and um you know getting and to see good quality football from you know a legendary team in in the in the regards of women's football so yeah I think This weekend is a massive weekend for London City Lionesses, as we've already said, you know, last weekend playing Birmingham top of the table and now playing Durham, who sit third.
00:17:37
Paige
um I think they have got, yeah, a difficult two weeks, that's for sure. But I think that that's something that they can pull through. I don't think...
00:17:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
but I mean, they only, yeah, but they only see third because of gold difference, ah they have the same points.
00:17:52
Paige
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:17:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
So realistically, they're both seconds.
00:17:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
So it's a very, very or do I say, it's a very, very interesting game. It's a very, very interesting game.
00:17:56
Paige
Yeah.
00:18:03
Paige
Yeah.
00:18:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
I i think, that's my opinion, that with Birmingham winning last, winning on Sunday, it's kind of like, how how how can I explain this?
00:18:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm thinking about, like imagine, do if do you ever watch ah cycling, like Giro d'Italia Tour de France or something?
00:18:25
Paige
No, but you can carry on.
00:18:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah Right. So basically when they're doing a race, you know, they they tend to stay in the group at the same time.
00:18:33
Paige
Yeah.
00:18:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Everybody's kind of there a little bit further, a little bit back, a little bit further. And then you reach a certain certain point when one of them really stopped. Like in Italian, we say la fuga. So it's when someone just start to say like, okay, that's it.
00:18:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm going right now.
00:18:49
Paige
Yeah.
00:18:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
This is when I need to make the difference.
00:18:51
Paige
Like a trigger point.
00:18:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I think. Like a trigger point.
00:18:54
Paige
the note Yeah.
00:18:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I think that was Birmingham trigger point. Like Birmingham in that moment just went like, we are gonna win this and we are going up next year. And I mean, I also think that Hope as a women director now, technical director, it's doing an incredible job in so many ways.
00:19:03
Paige
Yeah. Yeah.
00:19:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
I monitor what happens at Birmingham from the club point of view as well a lot. I can see who they are recruiting. you know who is going who is becoming part of their team, ah the management team, not just you know who is playing on the pitch.
00:19:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I think they have really big projects. They are really preparing to go up. So I really love that. I really, really love and I think that's that's that was really the trigger point.
00:19:30
Paige
Yeah.
00:19:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
That was really their like, right, we have now demonstrated that we are beating. I know they lost with Newcastle in a very weird, bizarre thing. And you never know because it's only November. That's fair enough. But that's how I feel anyway. That's ah ah my opinion.
00:19:58
Paige
Yeah, and I think, you know, you talk about that that sort of trigger point, even for from a Durham perspective, them seeing London City drop points could also sort of instigate their next move.
00:20:09
Paige
If they if they win this weekend, um obviously we've already established the goal difference thing, but that puts them, you know, second and really bearing down heavily on on Birmingham.
00:20:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, correct.
00:20:21
Paige
so
00:20:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:20:23
Paige
It's definitely, you know, it's going to be exciting in last few week or concluding ends to the season, but also the next few weeks are going to be really interesting just to see where, where they all fall really, right?
00:20:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Because, um, so either London city or Durham are going to take quite a big step to go second, or they could drew and then they just stay there.
00:20:41
Paige
Yeah.
00:20:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
But then if they drew, they go to 17 points and then you've got four teams that are on 14 points.
00:20:52
Paige
Yeah.
00:20:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
So some of them will win, which means we are going to have like four or five teams that are actually second on the table.
00:20:55
Paige
Yeah.
00:21:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
And that is incredible.
00:21:00
Paige
Yeah.
00:21:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
That is so incredible.
00:21:02
Paige
Yeah.
00:21:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
and
00:21:03
Paige
It is super competitive.
00:21:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, very exciting.
00:21:05
Paige
That's what we love. Exactly that.
00:21:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
Very exciting.
00:21:08
Paige
Yes ma'am.
00:21:11

Women's Football Weekend Preview

00:21:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
17 of November is the women's football weekend so and this is the very first time where both Championship and WSL, both of them, ah will be playing all at the big stadiums. But also, they will be televised. they They have a lot of in within clubs collaboration to really push for more people to attend the games. There's been a massive, massive, massive work behind it. And I am a very, very, very excited.
00:22:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
so um I mean, I'm also debate. so Okay, so I must be a supporter, obviously. And we have the non North London Derby, which I want to go and watch.
00:22:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Of course. But then also we have CT and Chelsea playing at Stamford Bridge. And I also would like to watch that game. So I'm thinking, and it's great because actually we play at home, we play at Tottenham with Arsenal and we play very early.
00:22:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
We play at 1.45 and then Chelsea kickoff is 5.30. So I'm considering going from one to another because I think there will be two really, really, really great games.
00:22:55
Paige
Heh heh.
00:22:57
Paige
Yeah, that's for sure. I think of course you're excited about the North London Derby. Always excited about London Darby's. You have about 300 a season.
00:23:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
um know I mean, i um
00:23:12
Paige
ah fact
00:23:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
ha m so i am a ah i mean last year, it was the first time ah that I can remember yeah and and ah and that I participated to the North London Derby being played at the big stadium and we won.
00:23:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
We won one nil, but still we we as in Tottenham and we won.
00:23:32
Paige
Yeah.
00:23:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
And it was an incredible way to really close the season, well, the first half of the season and go into like the Christmas break, et cetera, et cetera. It was really, really good.
00:23:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I think in all honesty, that that's what really pushed the team to perform like better and to get to the FA final. They just were, I think they just really played on that.
00:23:57
Paige
Yeah.
00:23:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
They just went like, listen, we played at the big stadium. and We won the longlo North London Derby. There's nothing we can not do. Let's go for it. And and I think it really puts the moral really high.

Now, we are coming from a strike of a few losses, not a lot of winning, so I think there will be a lot of preparation for this. um I'm also a bit worried because Arsenal is now on a very, very good moment, on a very, very good moment, and I think they will come supercharged definitely wanted to win because they lost there last year.
00:24:10
Paige
Yeah.
00:24:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah It will be, ah ah don I don't know, it could go either did way, it could go either way.
00:24:47
Paige
Yeah.
00:24:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
But I also predict Chelsea winning.
00:24:51
Paige
e Yes.
00:24:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
really
00:24:55
Paige
Yes.
00:24:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah you can
00:25:00
Paige
I'm trying to think because I think the last weekend's results for me, like of like Chelsea, Liverpool, Liverpool have ah fallen off a little bit, that's for sure.
00:25:15
Paige
I think I think the the win against Villa was not as straightforward as maybe it could have been. And then a three-nil defeat at home against Chelsea makes Chelsea look good, but also I think Liverpool didn't do great in that game. But I think a four-nil win for City against Spurs to me to me suggests that City might be might be starting to creep but like creep up that level, just lift it a little bit. So I actually think that this game for City has probably come at the best possible time, because I think their last three performances, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine goals in three games,
00:26:08
Paige
against, well, Palace, probably not, but Villa, tough outfit as we've established from Liverpool. Spurs have been a tough tough team to play.

Manchester City vs Chelsea Speculation

00:26:18
Paige
I don't know, i think I think City might cause a little bit of a, and and I don't know if it's considered an upset, but I don't think it'll be as straightforward for Chelsea as they would like to think that it could be. um And I think that that's great for the game, definitely. I think, you know, having um City, you know,
00:26:38
Paige
in that mix obviously they sit off the table so it's not even like they're back in the game kind of thing but i just think that that yeah i just think they could i just think that they could they could pitch us to the point this weekend and i'll be intrigued to see what that final score looks like come what half four half four uh on sunday but Yeah, that's the the their fixtures, I think, for the women's football all weekend are actually really good. You've got you know the two draw ah a big derby with with North London derby. Then you've also got, obviously, Liverpool against Everton or Everton against Liverpool, um which I think will be obviously a good game. It's always competitive to see those two teams play together. so
00:27:25
Paige
Um, you know, the the form of Everton right now is, is pretty poor, but I think they always turn up in both Memento and the women's game, don't they? When you play your rivals, um, especially at home. and I think that is a good, a good fixture for, for Everton right now. But yeah, I think this weekend will be fun, man. It'll be interesting to see come. Yeah. Come.
00:27:46
Paige
closing or actually yeah they got a late kick off haven't they the Chelsea game so yeah come eight o'clock let's see what that table's saying let's see what those final scores are see whether Kate's a happy Spurs fan or whether she's gonna be crying into I don't know that's a V now
00:28:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't know I don't know I mean the the Our loss on Friday definitely, we didn't need that. It was really bad. It wasn't just the score. you know like you know like when When you play a game and you're just like, yeah, you know, they were just too good for us.
00:28:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think they were a bit, we were a bit chaotic.
00:28:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
That that was the problem. We were a bit chaotic.
00:28:25
Paige
yeah
00:28:26
Paige
yeah
00:28:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
We also had a couple of good chances, you know, couple of incredible, incredible saves from, you know, I like her when she plays for the lionesses.
00:28:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
I like her less when she plays for city. Anyway, whatever. um And also like,
00:28:43
Paige
Your club all been a bit chaotic recently.
00:28:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah i don't know it was just a bit i mean
00:28:48
Paige
Even across the men's game.
00:28:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, the first goal was, the first goal, the banish goal, it was just like, do you know when something happened? And you just go like, did that really just, like, did that really, did it happen?
00:29:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, surely not. 21 seconds, no.
00:29:02
Paige
yeah
00:29:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I think they, yeah probably they will be working a little bit more on that, better a communication, just being very careful, being more secure. They didn't feel so secure. In fact, you can see that on the second goal, Bethany England even just went a little bit like,
00:29:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
quite upset and just I think raised a little bit of voice with the team of just going like, what is going on?
00:29:22
Paige
Yeah. Yeah,
00:29:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Like, it's fine if you get dominated by another team because they are like performing incredible.
00:29:27
Paige
yeah we gotta fix this.
00:29:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
You just go like, do you know what? Like we've done our best, but it's like, whoa, they were just so good. But when this happened and it's mainly, well, at least two goals, literally just distractions.
00:29:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
And you're just like, what is going on? It's just, it's very upsetting.
00:29:50
Paige
Yeah.
00:29:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I hope they will be able to refocus a little bit for Saturday. Um, I hope that the weather.
00:29:56
Paige
They have to though, right? They have to.
00:29:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
I hope that the weather will stay like it is now, be great. And I really hope that many, many people will ah really kind of like tag along to the, you know, the women's football weekend. I'd love to see this, you know, being kind of like a festival

00:30:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
where there will be like, you know, more fun engagement stuff after after parties. It really will become a festival of football for women, especially.
00:30:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
And yeah, I really hope that many, many, many supporters will just play along and go and watch a game. Please go and watch a game.
00:30:28
Paige
Yeah.
00:30:39
Paige
Yeah, I think that's, that's the biggest shout, isn't it? Please just get, get to a game, even if it's not one of the big games, one of the WSR championship fixtures, go support your local club, go support, you know, any of these national league teams that are doing really amazing things or, you know, just your local grassroots team, just get out there, go and support, go and watch some football.
00:30:58
Paige
Um, and just get that, that football buzz that, that we all have. But yeah, just, just go watch a game, man. Go watch a game, support your club.
00:31:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
