Podcast Returns After Break

00:00:14
Speaker
Hello and a very belated welcome back to the off the tips podcast Geez, it feels good to hear that intro music and say those words again ah Sorry, we've had a little bit of ah a break from your airwaves, but we're back and we're back in a big way. And joining me from the other side of the world is AC, who wasn't even on the last podcast ah that we recorded. So welcome in, mate. G'day listeners. When you say back in a big way, we're we're probably doing pretty similar to what we used to do. But it's good to be back nonetheless.
00:00:47
Speaker
Yeah, producing the same results. But yeah, the podcast might look a little bit different this year, but ah from now on, we're we're back regularly. So like, subscribe, do whatever it is, download, get us in the airwaves ah at and across the board. But A.C., it's been a while, mate. ah We've had a big festive season. I saw you frolicking around the French Alps. ah Just give the listeners a bit of ah but of a rundown on what your maybe holiday period looked like. You don't have to go into too much detail considering it's mid February, but let us know.
00:01:24
Speaker
Yeah, mate.

Travel Stories and Upcoming Plans

00:01:25
Speaker
So went to Bruges for Christmas and then um obviously recently had a ski holiday in France, which was epic. Hadn't gone to the mountain for at least three years, I think. The last time I went, I actually missed my flight there because I got carried away the night before. But that's the story for another part. And then managed to get a weekend away in Copenhagen and then actually heading off to Spain tonight um for the weekend away. So It's been pretty busy. um ah That first sort of year here, you you're sort of just trying to like build the bank back up from the first three months travel. um So it's nice to actually be able to use Europe now and travel around and just have weekends away, which is sort of why I'm over here, um not to just get on the piss in London on the weekends. So it's been it's been really good. Cheers to the lifestyles of the rich and famous, eh?
00:02:23
Speaker
I could say that, mate. How are you going? Mate, not too bad. you know Just frolicking around, ah working. a bit I've been on some pretty cool missions of late. I got to send back to the motherland to do some good stuff on Christchurch's golf courses in the Canterbury region. That was late last year, probably after ah our most recent pod. so Look, I really enjoyed that going back to a area that I was pretty familiar with, but seeing it in a bit more detail and and playing the golf with with the locals and with some some experts was fantastic. and Then you know over Christmas, I was back home again. and yeah It's ah just a bit of cricket, a bit of Sydney sun. It's and suffocatingly hot here. If you can hear a little bit of a
00:03:12
Speaker
hum in the background. it's ah It's a fan that I've got on me just so I don't um so don't pass out. Do look at the red. Yeah, it's it's warm in here because I just shut the window because a dishlicker was gone. Absolutely bananas out the out the back.

Live Golf Event Coverage

00:03:28
Speaker
Apart from that, mind it's just more of the same off to live golf tomorrow to cover that, my first live event. so i'm I'm really looking forward to live Adelaide and and getting down there to to to see the chaos that is what That's pretty cool, mate. What does the week look like for you then? Do you get to go into the the press conference? like Are you part of that or are you just roaming around? i I'll probably pretty much yeah be in the media center and then just on the ground, roaming around. I think I'll probably
00:04:03
Speaker
write up a story or two a day, maybe ah you know write write the news and you know the the what happened over the day and then um maybe a bit of a story of my own. I think I've got that Saturday circle for post midday to maybe go see if I can get myself a ticket to the party hall and maybe maybe write about some tales from from there because that looks like an absolute circus.
00:04:25
Speaker
I'll try lot ah try my best to not get lost in the and the and the craziness with, ah you know, like I think Dom Dollar's playing on Friday night and Fisher on Sunday. So, geez, I'll have to steer clear of those otherwise I might get myself in a bit of trouble just distributing some shapes to the Grange ah practice fairways.
00:04:48
Speaker
That's pretty awesome. I'm really interested to see what you think of it. um Is there anything in particular you're looking forward to other than the party hell, of course, mate? Well, I'm looking forward to the golf, getting up ah close and personal and and and seeing you know some of the best to ever do it in action. Look, I i think I'll follow the Kiwis around a little bit, Ben Campbell and your mate, Danny Lee. I think I'll go go follow them for a bit. but you know The big dogs are the ones you want to go see. You want to go see the Brookses, the Brysons, the John Rams, and and just maybe see how how different it is when they play golf compared to you know yeah your local pros on the Aussie tour, if there is a difference or or what it is. so I'm um'm really looking forward to seeing those guys in action because you see a couple of them come down for Aussie Opens and Aussie PGAs, but like you're just going to be spoilt for choice around there. and
00:05:45
Speaker
Apparently the Grange will play pretty firm and fast this week. I still think scoring will be really low But yeah, it'll it'll be a great week and what I'm definitely looking forward to Nice brother. It is one of the the live events that really pops too as you know, so There'll be a pretty cool experience to be part of I know a few fit mates would have been keen to come over for that too. So I Yeah. Well, they're expecting a hundred thousand through the gates over the weekend, which is pretty absurd numbers. Uh, like how many of those ah actual golf fans? I'm sure, but it doesn't really matter though. Like the atmosphere is going to be unbelievable, isn't it? So yeah, I look forward to reporting back. I think they should do two and I'll say, yeah, definitely. I don't know.
00:06:36
Speaker
I think it's good having like things pretty scarce as you sort of find like, you know, you got to have got to miss it. But seems like it'd be an absolute layup to have one in Victoria or New South Wales. Yeah, well, you just a I think at the moment they' are appreciating the novelty of it. but um It has been very well done. Like we've been critical on here on some of the international live events and how the atmosphere has lacked and it's been, they've been pretty poor, poor layouts, poor golf courses, poor poor attendance, but here are Spain and London seem to do it really, really well. And ah look like there was some unofficial reports of some some live scouts going to Christchurch and having a look around, like I, ah
00:07:26
Speaker
I find that hard-ish to believe. I think they might have been people fronting as live scouts from from what I've heard, which is one of the great things. That's quite funny. Yeah. Get a free round out of it. ah Yeah. That's obviously not not confirmed by any stretch of the imagination. but look ah it was Yeah, che I don't know if there was actual officials. It's just so that's just a word of mouth and and something I've heard through ah through a bit of a source. But in saying that, like Christchurch, and I spoke about this on radio the other day, it would be ah it would be a fantastic venue, ah a fantastic city, I should say, to to have ah ah a live event or a big event like that. It'd be keen to think what you what you think on that or maybe is there somewhere else in NZ that would maybe fit it a bit better?
00:08:20
Speaker
I think Christchurch is a great spot mainly because you've got infrastructure there. Christchurch love their sport. Good golf courses, good weather. I think think it makes a lot of sense.
00:08:35
Speaker
um you could like Obviously you could go go to Queenstown as well. It's pretty easy to fly in there from Aussie. I don't know. um But i think I think Christchurch would probably be the one.
00:08:51
Speaker
Yeah, there's a bit of a loaded question. there's kind of only There's kind of only one course they could play at in terms of facilities and and and um and it being a championship venue is and it's Clearwater. I think Christchurch is a championship venue, but I just struggle to see like the facilities um Facilitating those guys, like it's a very small driving range and and practice area and stuff like that. Whereas, you know, Christchurch, I mean Clearwater have that brand new center of excellence facility. It would make sense that it goes there. So if that was legit and the live officials were there, I'd say that would be the one that they were circling.
00:09:30
Speaker
For sure, and ah yeah it's a tournament golf course when you play it. The really interesting back nine, it feels like it's sort of set up for that sort of stage. Yeah.
00:09:42
Speaker
Absolutely. And, you know, it's hosted several New Zealand Opens, New Zealand PGA's, New Zealand Woman's Opens. It's tried and tested as a tormentant tournament venue, so there wouldn't actually be a whole lot of extra stuff to do. It'd just be how you fit the infrastructure of getting the fans on. But we'll talk more about Live Next Week, I'm sure, after, you know, being on the ground and Adelaide if I come back

State of Professional Golf

00:10:05
Speaker
on One Piece. But A.C. just want to get your thoughts on kind of the last few weeks of golf, what we've seen this year briefly. We don't have to go into too much depth, just maybe maybe shoot the shit about what we've seen. From my point of view, i I love the fact that we've seen a lot of European winners on tour already, you know, Macaroid, D-Tree, Sepstraka. It's a good flavor to have.
00:10:31
Speaker
Yeah, that's a great point you make. Yeah, my golf watching has been limited until the last couple of weeks. I don't know about you, golf yeah professional golf as we know is in a really weird spot and I'd be interested to hear your thoughts, um but I think historically The start of the golf season always felt like the tournament of the champions and it didn't feel that way this year. I was not really engaged or interested and then sometimes it would feel a little bit like Tori when Tiger was there but still didn't feel like that. They had a really weak field which was pretty well documented and I think
00:11:12
Speaker
Pebble Beach having a signature event there, that's what sort of has got me into the golf season. That felt like the start. I know it helps when you have a big winner in Rory and he's ah him and Tiger, the only two that really move ratings on last round's the PGA Tour. um And I think that sort of felt like, yeah, we're back in golf season now. And then I actually watched basically all of the final round of the waste management. It's obviously good hours here. I think it started at 5.30, so I just parked up on the couch and watched that on my Sunday evening, which was cool. But yeah, it feels...
00:11:52
Speaker
The last few events have felt really well done. CBS do a great job. You really notice CBS coverage versus Golf Channel. And those events actually feel like they mean something. So it's been good. I'm actually really looking forward to the rest of the season now. It's a shame we're not at Riviera this week. A real shame, but obviously what's going on is bigger than golf. um But yeah. What are your thoughts on how it's all gone, Kyle?
00:12:23
Speaker
Yeah, like I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I've i've probably watched a fair bit more than you have, but I i agree. it It didn't really feel like it's really ramped into gear until kind of these last couple of weeks. It was quite tough to get into around January, some average finishes. and Yeah, I enjoyed also the the European tour events in the Middle East. I thought they were enjoyable enjoyable to watch. Dan Hillier making a run at the Dubai Desert Classic also really helped. But um in terms of the PGA Tour, yeah, it's just ramping up over the last couple of weeks. It's funny you say that Pro Golf is in a weird spot. I agree. it's
00:13:05
Speaker
We've said it before and I'll say it again, it's starting to feel like we're veering into tennis category that we've only got a few big events a year that we really get up for. and its I know there's some some movements in the 11 PGA talks. I know the big fella Trump reckons he can sort it out, which is I can't wait to see how that unfolds, but I just feel like it's been draining over the last couple of years, an interest and from the casual fan at least. and you know I just feel like, to cut the bullshit, I just feel like the fans have been collateral damage over the last couple of years, and we've lacked finishes like we had at Pebble Beach last week.
00:13:50
Speaker
but i think In terms of that, Pebble Beach wasn't even a great finish, but what we had was we had the best field on a good golf course. and i don't think I don't think it's that hard. and i don't I don't know how the PGA Tour can sort this out, but just keep the good guys playing on an interesting golf course. and The fans will like it.
00:14:14
Speaker
And I think golf gets stuck in this thing where we're trying to just we're trying to like entertain and get the casual fan. And why don't we just actually engage the people who love the sport and then and then can build from there.
00:14:30
Speaker
um like I got into golf through playing and it takes a while to get into professional golf because it's a bit slower and it's not it's not the it's quite a niche sport. But once you actually play more golf and learn the sport, then you can appreciate the pros more. I don't think we need to be like, hey, you've you've gone to the driving range a few times. like you should go watch four hours of golf. like They're not going to want to do that. So I just think golf has sort of just shot itself in the foot the last few years, to be honest. ah Yeah, it's hard to argue with that, mate. I think that's really well said. And you never get a tire of watching the best play at great golf courses. And yeah, the more we can do it, the better. But um
00:15:17
Speaker
In terms of, mate, what are you what are you looking forward to most this year if you had a couple of pointers to say to side of the listeners? I'm interested to see, from what I saw from Rory and people, I'm looking forward to seeing him in Shefler. I think they could, I think Rory's going to bridge that gap a bit this year.
00:15:38
Speaker
that You can throw Xander in there too. I think those three are going to have a real duel. So I guess that's a prediction of such, but not really. But I just feel that I don't think the gap between Sheffler and those two is going to be as big this year. Mind you, Xander, you could argue by the end of the year there wasn't much of a gap. um But that that's something I'm looking forward to. Just sort of that battle at the top. And then really looking forward to Oakmont.
00:16:06
Speaker
US Open, love that golf course. I think there's a few people that are really standing out that could be contenders there. What about you? Yeah, I'm keen to see how Xander backs up that 20, 2024. I've got nothing to suggest that it won't be more of the same, although I find it hard to see him winning two majors. But yeah, I think he'll be as consistent as always. But I'm keen to see how he does back up.
00:16:36
Speaker
I'm looking forward to the Ryder Cup at Bethpage. I think that's going to be really exciting and I'm also looking forward to... Nice. I actually forgot about Ryder Cup, definitely. um My favorite event in golf.
00:16:52
Speaker
so It sort of it rolls around quickly though. I a sort of just in my head was thinking last, it's next year. um But obviously not. So they'll be good. I think euros of i think the are a massive chance of an ambush.
00:17:09
Speaker
Yeah, I hope you're right. I hate watching the US win. I really hope you're right. but We spoke about Scotty Sheffler before and it'd be remiss of me to not bring this up. just How about his kitchen injury over the over the December period? Cutting his own bit on a wine glass making pasta.
00:17:32
Speaker
that
00:17:35
Speaker
He's quite, he's he's human. Yeah, that is like, he was real vague initially and I was like, oh, maybe it was like a drinking raid incident, but no, it was even just a, it was just a whoopsie wasn't it really? Yeah, real whoopsie. Have you had any sort of injuries of that nature?

Kitchen and Golf Injuries

00:17:55
Speaker
Yeah, I, I've had a pretty, I've had a bit of a shocker in the kitchen prior. ah I would say I've been about, yeah, right. I was, um,
00:18:05
Speaker
Believe it or not, i i was I was into my baking a little bit and I i just got to kill a recipe of a carrot cake that I really wanted to try. I was getting about my work, all the stuff in the cake mixer, and I had one of those, you know the button beaters, the eggbeater things, or the cake mixer.
00:18:25
Speaker
hold the button and it just goes and I held the button down and it kind of wouldn't turn off so I went to stop it with my hands. I just stuck my hands straight in the middle of it and I stopped it but I broke my met and I broke my hand.
00:18:47
Speaker
like and you know i Yeah, I had to go to A&E and it was one of the most embarrassing days of my life. I was ah sitting there just holding my hand, you know, bottom lip shaking and it was on a Saturday afternoon and all these blokes are just being wheeled and still in their rugby kit like like broken arms, dislocated shoulders and one of them um One of them was sitting across from me and after he had had a couple of sucks on the green whistle, just says, Oh, what did you do, mate? And I just, I just lied straight to this guy. I just lied straight to this guy's face and said, I got hit by a cricket ball.
00:19:28
Speaker
Oh, that's good. Yeah. So I have had. What what about you, mate? Have you, have you had any incidents in the kitchen? Nothing I can think of quite boring just the odd um Just cut and whatnot, but no nothing nothing like that, right? Obviously had some drunken discretions like leaving leaving chicken patties in the oven and waking up to them looking like hockey pucks, but No, nothing Nothing nothing serious. So that's good
00:20:05
Speaker
Oh, yeah. Like it it's not something I was really planning on revisiting the carrot cake story. And I've flushed that, but but why my mother does like getting that one out after a couple of sauvignon blancs when we've got company at my expense. So, yeah. But anyway, mate, we'll move on from that.

Upcoming Golf Trips

00:20:24
Speaker
Now now the listener, the listener will know. I just could imagine Young Cal making a cake. Just knuckling down on a Saturday.
00:20:34
Speaker
Yeah, that's the spot. But yeah, any golf trips on the horizon, mate? Like, I know you're probably you're heading into summer over there or spring over there and and, you know, the sunshine is around the corner. Do you have any kind of plans? You've obviously done Ireland, you've done Scotland. What's next? I'm i'm guessing probably the open rotor in England.
00:20:58
Speaker
Yeah, no plans exactly. I ah need to work out how I can get on some of these good golf courses we've obviously got. Got a couple of connections, so I'm going to try. I want to play a bit down in the Heathlands in Surrey. Obviously that's where sort the Wentworths, the Sunningdales of this world are, Walton Heath. That's sort of next. i don't So nothing, no, to answer your question, no trips per se, but I'm keen to play a few of the good ones in England. um I'm going to get a membership, I think, um which is about 600 quid. It's not a great golf course, but it'll be fine for what I need. It's quite easy to get to, which is the big thing in London. um So I think I'm going to get a membership and actually try try play every fortnight, because I sort of play every once every two months, and it's just not not scratching my itch, mate.
00:21:57
Speaker
No, it's good to see you back out there and and getting a membership. I'm gonna do the same thing. um I obviously never joined up anywhere in Sydney, but I'm actually remocating back to Christchurch next week. So i'll um I'll get around that and I'll be a member at Christchurch GC, which is one of my favorite courses going around. So I'm really looking forward to that. And yeah, in terms of golf trips,
00:22:26
Speaker
I got a couple coming up. I got obviously the Hillary Cup, which we bark on about. It's our lads trip. You know, it's currently the only unbeaten player, but you're heading into your second year and not being able to play, which, you know, you always hate to hear. That's in Christchurch this year, which is, you know, a bit of a home game for me and and my boys. So that ah that'll be good. ah Well, actually just me. None of my boys are from there, but yeah I was going to call you that, you know, oh I'll rally them. And then after that, i'll um I've got some work ones lined up around the top of the North Island. So the TRI and then down through Cape Kidnappers or TRI, Cody Cliffs, Cape Kidnappers and then Kinloch, which i i've I've never played and I know you're a big fan of. And then and then I've got something in the works and in Vietnam, quite of in the middle of the year. So look, yeah, plenty of golf on the horizon for me, which means I need to probably start playing again. But ah it's good to be picking the sticks back up because it's been too long.
00:23:27
Speaker
What a life. That's outstanding. You know, I'm really looking forward to it actually. it's ah It's been too long and yeah, there's some gun some gun courses on the horizon and and yeah, hopefully I can document it for the listeners and and and our social media and and and give you guys a bit of ah but of a look around some cool stuff that's unfolding and actually at your fingertips if you if you really want to. That's one of my things I'm looking forward to the most at T&Z is getting up to TRI. I've played Most of the big ones in NZ, but I'm really looking forward to actually getting out there and playing playing the two courses there. I've heard great things. It looks like just a great sort of product and just looks like you get looked after. It doesn't let the golf course beat you up. Just looks like elite fun there and scenic as well. Yeah, absolutely. I'm on the same boat. It's a, yeah, it looks unbelievable.
00:24:26
Speaker
to put it simply, and yeah, I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully, you know, get ah get a few good days, but hopefully the wind blows a little bit and and, you know, test the game out. Not that it could be dead still in the game, could be tested out, but you know, you want a bit of an element of something different around there, but maybe we'll move into some quickfire cues.

Best Value Golf Courses in NZ

00:24:49
Speaker
We've been away for a while and this is just some this is just some stuff we had in our DMs, a couple of A couple of Instagram users that that could have been bots but and a couple of, you know, regular listeners. ah But we'll go one for one and best value for money golf course in New Zealand.
00:25:11
Speaker
Ooh, that's tough. ah I'm actually going to say Para Para Umu.
00:25:19
Speaker
And um we also go Walton. um For those not in our part of New Zealand, there's a small course in the Waikato, a bloody go good track. I don't know how much it costs, maybe 30, 40 bucks, but you won't be disappointed going to Walton.
00:25:38
Speaker
Yeah, and I'll put a provides over this. ACNI haven't lived in the country for a few years, so green things might have changed slightly since since we've been there. But from from my memory, obviously Arrowtown is right up there. um You know, relatively expensive in terms of like actual money, but like in terms, if you compare it to some of the other golf courses you play for for the same price, you know, around 80 to 100 bucks.
00:26:06
Speaker
It's, ah ah you struggle to find a bit of value course in that. It's one of the, one of the best courses in the country. It's so much fun to play. i Yeah. ah I'd recommend to anyone to get there if you haven't, but you know chances are, if you're a canned golfer listening to this, you you probably have. It's one of the the highlights of the golf in the country. And in terms of a small gym type one, when I played over Christmas AC, it was about 25 bucks. Tasman Golf Club, just just out of Nelson. Little Night Hauler, so much fun. like I haven't had that much fun on a golf course in a long time. Quirky-ass holes.
00:26:47
Speaker
just so cool. How good is the rural country feel? How good is a rural New Zealand nine-holer? It's just got like it's unbelievable four or five average holes and then like four holes that you've just never seen anything like before. It's sort of how they work. Yeah, ah it's so good. um Here's one here. This is quite tough, but birdie count for the holidays.
00:27:14
Speaker
I think i like um think I've played nine holes this year. I think I've made one birdie, so it's actually a pretty easy one, I think. ah ah I say it's tough in terms of confronting, because I don't think I have any, because I haven't been playing. Yeah, so it's a tough question. It's a real kick up, yeah. This is a good one, and and it might put you on the spot a little bit. What's the worst thing you've seen on the golf course?
00:27:40
Speaker
well Worst thing I've seen.
00:27:45
Speaker
Do you have anything off the top of your head that can come back to me or are you? Oh, the worst thing I've seen. No, like that's actually a great question. Maybe maybe we highlight this one in circle back next week because yeah I've definitely seen some pretty crook stuff out. Just nothing that that comes to mind, to be honest. Nothing like at Clark's Beach that was reported in the air. Nothing like that. Yeah.
00:28:11
Speaker
One of them I do have actually, but I can't, I don't think I can share it on the pod. It wasn't as bad as Clark's Beach, but it was pretty egregious. I wasn't there, but I heard of it. Yeah, for those of you that didn't see that blockbuster breaking news from Clark's Beach earlier in the year, there were just a couple of people making sweet love. Was it on the 17th?
00:28:41
Speaker
I don't know. All I know is doesn't matter exposed. It was broad daylight too, which is, which is pretty brave, but you know, each their own, I guess. Okay. Um, have you ever hurt anyone while playing? Yes, I have. And I've also been hurt. I, I flushed it a kid.
00:29:07
Speaker
Um, on the, the par three third at Tiamoto, it's like, for those of you that like highly likely you haven't played there, it's pretty, you know, rural Waikato country course. Downhill, it's normally like a four to a six iron. It's, it's relatively long. It's kind of around that 180 to 190 range, depending on where the T's are. And there's like some, there's some trees on the left and I've just.
00:29:36
Speaker
just low left, kind of yanked one, but like found the center of the club face, but just closed, closed the shit out of it. And it's just gone like a trace of bullet towards these trees. And before I could even say anything, this kid's just walked out from behind one of the trees and he's just worn it straight between the shoulder blades. Had it on. I shouldn't laugh. Did he cry? Yeah, it was not good. i And then I've like run down there.
00:30:05
Speaker
and his dad's come from the from like but other side of the fairway and I'm like, oh, this bloke's gonna spray me. And then, but he didn't, he was like, yeah, I was like, we just a explain what happened that his old man, but yeah, I hate this.
00:30:23
Speaker
I hate to stereotype, but ah I reckon he was a farmer and he just just pretty he just gave us a rub on the back and said, let's go, mate. was a fuck guy sweet And then at the same golf course, I've been hit ah on the seventh hole.

It's a part five. I mean, when you're if you're hitting a if you choose to not take it on in three, you're hitting like a wedge, and it's slightly uphill, but it's like a little light mound. And I was playing with one of one of my mates, and it was a frosty morning. And I was standing up by the bunkers on the right-hand side of the green, and he's just sculled one like into the top of the mound, and it's kissed off like for those cricketers that might be listening like a slip cradle.
00:31:07
Speaker
And I've tried to like jump over it and it's just hit me flush in the ass. So yeah, I've been on both sides of that. What's the person who scalded Dylan Callaha? Yeah, it was. Actually, so it was pretty on the brand. Yeah, that sounds like something he'd do. You go, you go. I haven't had, I haven't had Mehdi.
00:31:34
Speaker
ah There was one occasion where I hit this guy in the leg on the 14th at Narrows. So you still have to turn your drive around the corner, especially in the summer when it gets bone dry. And I've just hung one out there and I actually didn't see this guy. My balls were like that that left ah spat left onto the fairway from the right trees. And I was like, what the hell?
00:32:01
Speaker
And then I thought it'd just come off the base of the tree, but there was actually someone behind it and it hit him in the shin because he it proceeds to just walk out limping. And I was like, oh, fuck. I was pretty young at the time. I would have been like.
00:32:17
Speaker
I reckon 13, 14. He didn't spray me or anything too. He realized that I just wouldn't have seen him, so I didn't call four. um but yeah like i ah basically every I'd keep looking back to see if he was okay, but then he'd have this sort of this gape of a walk, a bit tiger-like these days.
00:32:38
Speaker
um and Yeah, I've also, but no, I've never been hit flush. I've been like hit on a green if someone rolls one up and it dribbles and hits your foot or something, but near there anything, near anything painful.
00:32:55
Speaker
Yeah, no, it's not something you probably one want to make a habit of on on either side of the coin, is it? No, it's not a good feeling. Here's the next one this just came in over the over our hiatus whatever happened to the TZ muffin challenge Look, I'll answer that because I have constantly followed up with TZ asking him to come on and do the muffin challenge but ah He she said after making that bold claim on a pod getting close to probably a year ago now, maybe even longer he He's a bit sheepish. He
00:33:31
Speaker
I don't know if it's whether he doesn't back himself or or he's you know too worried about drawing that kind of attention back on himself after he sailed off into the sunset after a couple of off the tips cameos. But look, I'll do my ah'll do my best to keep following this up because the muffin challenge is something that does need to happen. And if you can't remember, it's TZ came on the pod one day and said that he thought that he could demolish a packet of six of those pack and save muin muffins in under a

minute. And I didn't think it was the most outrageous claim of all time, but the more I think about it, the harder I think that is. So in short, whatever happened to it, we're we're still working on it and we want that to happen.
00:34:20
Speaker
You'd have to ensure they're fresh out of the oven. If they're three days old, you're getting through like one. Max, they, they dead set turn into like, like a snooker ball after, after 12 hours. So you'd want to buy them fresh. So I think the tip would be to do them for breakfast and get them in the morning. But look, it and we i hope that's the TC to decide. Yeah, exactly.
00:34:49
Speaker
well we'll keep We'll keep hounding him. and Well, Cal will, because I've never met him. Okay, what do we got here? um Basic tips to planning a lads golf trip? Look, I just think make sure everyone commits, and then once everyone commits, just fucking organize it. um not Not everything's going to go smooth sailing, but just just get it all in and just and just, I think that the biggest hurdle is actually just doing it because it all, it all sounds good, you know, sitting around a pub, slinging the shit about potentially doing it, but actually like getting everyone together and doing it is, is, you know, the hardest part. And look, I think obviously as life goes on, it gets a little bit tougher as like, AC knows like he's missed our last two and you know, he won't be the,
00:35:43
Speaker
he hasn't but He wasn't the first and he and he won't be the last to to to miss it. But making sure you have adequate approach replacements ready to go. You want to make it like a waiting list if you can. But um yeah, I think there's no tips to on how to do it right or do it wrong. like Just do it essentially. What what do you think I see?
00:36:06
Speaker
It's a good call. yeah I think, yeah, to that point, I reckon you just book dates. You're like, hey, we're going there at this time and then everyone will work around it unless they've got something on like a wedding or something and then you just voice it. But normally, normally the date, you'll be able to work around it.
00:36:29
Speaker
That's the thing. i Yeah, just ah just a side note. Yeah, I only pulled out of the Hillary probably yesterday. But it was really hard. I really wanted to get back with the boys, but it just didn't work. um In terms of... It's still a couple of months. Notice that. Yeah, I guess so. Anyway, I think... um Let me think, I think having a mixture of golf courses, you don't want to break the bank every round you play unless you know it's going to be a bit of a once in a lifetime thing. so
00:37:10
Speaker
you know play the top tier tracks and then throw in a rogue one. Throw in one that's quite cheap or one that someone's just suggested to you because those are the ones that you might not get back to that often. Look, do you have anything to add, anything to say to the listeners before we sign off?
00:37:32
Speaker
No, nothing really from me. It's good to be back. Hope that it's not too punishing to listen to. I found it a little bit rusty today. um Cal, you might be the same. it's been ah But it's great to be back. I've missed doing the pod. It was a good part of my routine, just chewing the fat with you, mate. So hopefully we can be a bit more consistent with that. It helps that Cal's in New Zealand now. The time zone with Aussie is just an absolute ball ache.
00:38:00
Speaker
um I think it'll be a lot easier to manage now. Yeah, no, I can't wait ah to you know be sitting there doing a podcast and not just sweating my absolute tits off. So it's going to be fun. Look, yeah, the rust was definitely there, but hopefully our loyal listeners just fought through that for the first one and and we can just work back up to full fitness. But look guys we really appreciate you you're waiting around for us to release another podcast we appreciate you tuning in and and we'd appreciate a lot if you know yeah you shared it around it and and liked subscribed and and and downloaded because you know it's the the more you do that that the more cool stuff we can do so appreciate it guys and we'll catch you all next week
