Vacations are supposed to be the time we recharge, reset, and relax… right?
So why do so many of us come home feeling bloated, sluggish, exhausted—and like we need a vacation from our vacation?

In this episode, we’re diving into why your time off might be working against your well-being (without you even realizing it), and how to enjoy your getaway without abandoning the habits that make you feel your best.

We’re not here to guilt you about that margarita—we’re here to help you be intentional about how you treat your body so you can come home actually feeling refreshed.

We chat about:

  • Why planning a few things in advance can make a huge difference
  • The power of sticking (loosely) to your movement and sleep routines—even while away
  • Our go-to travel habits
  • Snacks we never leave home without (especially for travel days!)
  • The real reason summer might be the best time to focus on your health
  • Why grace > guilt when it comes to your vacation choices

✨  A “healthy vacation” doesn’t mean restriction—it means supporting your body in a way that feels good so you don’t lose momentum.

Summer Vacation Reflections

00:00:54
Speaker
Hi, everyone. Welcome back to What's My Age again. hi Tanya. Hi, Kim. How are you? how was Good. How's summer vacation going for you? Summer vacation is delightful. I say summer vacation like I'm on vacation.
00:01:09
Speaker
Definitely not on vacation, but summer is delightful. i had just posted something last week that said like, can we... find a way to quit our jobs in the summer maybe and have it be acceptable.
00:01:20
Speaker
but would Love it. And love that idea. I know we all deserve, we all deserve a break. Um, it's interesting too, because I've been speaking to clients who have been returning from vacation, which is awesome.
00:01:33
Speaker
Um, and it brought up a conversation that we are going to dig into today. And that basically, coming back of it from a vacation and feeling like you need a vacation from

The Rejuvenation Paradox

00:01:47
Speaker
your vacation. And what I mean by that is coming back from vacation and feeling worse off than when you left. And let's face it, our vacations are meant to rejuvenate us.
00:01:58
Speaker
They're meant for us to take a break from the day-to-day grind. And we ideally will come back feeling really good. So let's dig into that today because we can talk about that in terms of summer Yeah, absolutely. it's so important and why we think it's so important to feel great during the summer.
00:02:19
Speaker
And we can talk about that in terms of coming back from vacation and what we can do to make ourselves feel like we actually had a vacation. Absolutely. Any vacation we take, this will apply to, but especially for a lot of people, summer is a full vacation, like you said, just not for us, but for some people, it's a full vacation.

Food, Emotions, and Balance on Vacation

00:02:38
Speaker
And you know what I think? I just want to say a little bit of a note about um why I think that this happens sometimes, talking about the energy of food and not just food on that ah molecular level, but the emotions attached to food. Again, Dive would be another podcast, but if you hear me out for a second.
00:03:01
Speaker
Vacation is that word, vacation. And we think we can go wild, we're on vacation. But the problem with that, well, there's a lot of problems, but at this emotional energetic level, our relationship with food is that if we have a life that we feel like we need to have a vacation from food from. Do you know what I mean? it from Oh, I love that, Tanya. It's not a lifestyle then. No, it's not a lifestyle. So I should be its own episode, but I just wanted to note if you are somebody that feels, you know, like it's vacay, YOLO. Like I understand that. I, I've been there. I still actually struggle with that, which whatever we can discuss in a little bit, but like, yeah, I think that's something that happens a lot. And which is why we're talking about this very episode in terms of
00:03:47
Speaker
being able to stay on track. Absolutely. And you know what? Like you said, Tanya, it one of the things for me too is i used to yeah absolutely. I can put my hand up right here and say that's how I used to be too. I used to put go on vacation, drink, stay up late, you know, not move my body and not like my nutrition out the window.
00:04:10
Speaker
Yeah. And then, like you like we said, we'd come back feeling terrible. And then feeling, I mean, some of the clients speaking to me this week, feeling like they, feeling sort of depleted, but also angry at themselves from getting off of their great routine, which they know works from them.
00:04:27
Speaker
And then having to, I'm putting air quotes here, restart. Right. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Yeah, and you, are yeah, and as, for I can speak for myself, as I get older, the recovery from coming back feeling like a bag of bones from a vacation that I went wild on, the recovery is a lot more intense.
00:04:51
Speaker
than it used to be. So yeah, they're definitely my vacations and my time away and even long weekends, whatever the time when we're doing time off definitely looks different than it used to. And I know you're someone Kim that I really admire knowing you and then just following you on social media and just, you know, knowing your lifestyle about,
00:05:15
Speaker
your vacation routines. I can say that I admire and even I aspire to do better. So like, I'd love if you can kind of share with the world the routines that I know, like some of the things that, you know, are important to you while you're away and why and how you actually achieve them. Okay. Well, from, I guess from the perspective of, from someone who is trying to heal, somebody who is really actively working on trying to heal,
00:05:44
Speaker
For me, it sort of having that routine and having that structure day-to-day really helps. So I like to keep that so structure somewhat when I'm on vacation.
00:05:56
Speaker
And it just makes me feel better while I'm on vacation. And then of course, when I come back from vacation. So key word there while I interrupt you, you don't feel deprived. You feel better while you're on vacation, keeping your routines and you feel better when you get back.
00:06:10
Speaker
That's key. Yes. And I guess I should say too, Tanya, It can look different when we're on vacation. It doesn't have to be the exact same, but the structure is in place. And what I mean by that is, so say we take movement, for example, starting with movement.
00:06:25
Speaker
I like to move my body every day and I like to start my day with movement. It helps me feel energized and it gets me through my day. So when I'm on vacation, I do like to work out at a gym if the hotel has a great gym.
00:06:38
Speaker
I get out of my hotel room. And for those of you who have young children, I know it's hard. You might have to do your movement routine in your hotel room. or sometimes for me, it looks like me going for a beach walk if we're on a beach vacation with my kids in tow.
00:06:55
Speaker
And that is what my movement looks like for the day. But ideally, I do love to going to the hotel gym in the morning, going for a walk, and then starting my day. Right.
00:07:05
Speaker
Yeah, for sure. That's like a key proponent. And there's, this is the beauty, like you said, in how things can be different and still be productive. Um, when I'm away, i want nothing to do with a gym, but I do need and want to move my body every day. And I do.
00:07:25
Speaker
So for me, I'm the stark opposite to that. I'm going outside, um in any capacity, even if I'm on a winter vacation, like I am bundling up and I'm going outside. But ideally, yes, I'm in a summer vacation and I'm taking part in, you know what I mean? Being extra active. And my my workout regime might look a little bit shorter because I'm actually extra active when I'm on vacation because I'm exploring.
00:07:49
Speaker
I'm swimming, I'm doing the things. So and yeah, that's one thing too that is a non-negotiable for me is that movement.

Travel Tips: Snacks and Hydration

00:07:56
Speaker
Okay, let's circle back for a second too, Tanya, because I want to get into nutrition and our routine on vacation. But if we could start back, one question I get all the time is travel days.
00:08:08
Speaker
How do you, especially if you have a diet where you might have some restrictions in place or you may have some things that, you know, you necessarily can't go to a Tim Hortons and eat.
00:08:21
Speaker
want to eat. Or want to. like I don't want to. I can. i think that's the difference too. Defining, and this is so amazing and what makes everything so beautiful and unique for all of our experiences.
00:08:32
Speaker
Some people hands down can't and some people just don't want to. And those are both exactly valid reasons not to, right? And to prep. So what do you do for travel days?
00:08:44
Speaker
So we have, um we I say we because usually if I'm traveling with my husband, it's just knowing that we get a big Ziploc bag out prior to travel the day before, and we fill it with our ready-to-go snacks. And these will be pre-prepped, and a lot of them will be better for our store-bought options, although we like to make as much as we can on our own. I'm always someone who says, you can't do it all.
00:09:08
Speaker
So we'll have an episode on that, our favorite pre-prep snacks. That's a good one, Kim. good yeah. good one. Yeah. Put that in the bank and let's not let the brain frog forget it. Somebody write it down. Um, so anyways, we put all of our snacks, not only for the travel day, but for while we're there, because a lot of our trips too, we're driving around, we're seeing like concerts where, you know what I mean? So that's a big part. And then day of fruit veggies, you know what I mean? Like the fresh stuff, like into our backpack.
00:09:39
Speaker
And, um, i'm I'm a sandwich girl when I travel and my husband is mortified. He's like, if you make one more egg salad, it's for hard boiled eggs for the plane. I am mortified. And you know what, Kim, to that I say, excuse me, to that I say, I'm really sorry.
00:10:02
Speaker
with my egg lunch inconveniences. that you me I am going to nourish my body without going to Tim Hortons, right? So that in nutshell is my travel day plans. And I'm going to be honest with you.
00:10:15
Speaker
I do have that flex if I want to. I don't have strict restrictions just for my dietary self. It's all choice for me. If I need to, I find something like a Jugo juice or a booster juice, something that is a, you know what I mean, better for my body. So that's my travel plan.
00:10:33
Speaker
You have so many extra humans with you in the form of the sweet kiddos and yourself, your husband. So what do you do? What does yours entail? You know what? Very similar to you, Tanya. It's snacks, load up with snacks, the carry-ons, but also- Please tell my husband right now that you pack eggs.
00:10:53
Speaker
I don't usually. Kim, but would you- would you I would though. Oh no, I a hundred percent would. ah hundred percent would. And also a side note, you know, in a pinch there, cause you made a really, really great point, Tanya. I also think for the travel trip home, because I know I could be stuck in an airport and just not feel confident or comfortable eating anything in the airport. Although typically,
00:11:22
Speaker
I usually can find something in terms of nuts or like there's usually something you can find, but I also like to be prepared and I like to enjoy myself and I like to not having to worry about it.
00:11:33
Speaker
No, you're right. and No, you're right. And sorry, you reminded me too, alongside exactly our made good, our made good bars and all of this stuff. people That's nuts.
00:11:44
Speaker
That's a big one. We pack nuts. I do like a big Ziploc bag of all these mixed nuts. Like, so that's a good point that you raised as well. And right. You can buy those at the airport, but in a pinch, we probably want the ones that aren't roasted, salted and you know, but. Totally.
00:11:59
Speaker
No, exactly. And they keep you satiated, right? Having that will keep you satiated through your flight. So. Or car trip or whatever you're doing. and But absolutely. The key is preparation.
00:12:10
Speaker
the key is grocery shopping ahead of time, making if you can. Usually I make a ton of muffins because my kids will eat them. There's a great like, I do like sweet potato and quinoa, like just different muffins that we can take and travel with.
00:12:25
Speaker
We do nuts and seeds trail mix, tons of cut up fruits and veggies. I'll make myself some sort of a wrap or lunch and then snackies for the way back.
00:12:36
Speaker
I love it. And like, that's the key, right? To always have something available. So we never get stuck with things we can't have or really don't want to have. Cause then that brings us back to the whole point of this podcast.
00:12:47
Speaker
Then we come home feeling worse than we did when we left. Right. Um, I think another big one where I know you're going to be like, yes, um, hydration.
00:12:57
Speaker
I was just going to say it was just going to say it. Absolutely, Tanya. And it's one that we forget. We need more hydration, especially if we're going to warmer climates.
00:13:09
Speaker
And when we're traveling all day on airplanes, we need to hydrate ourselves more. So tell me more, Tanya. Hydration. I have a funny hydration story, actually, which makes me so proud of my friends who I love with all my heart.
00:13:22
Speaker
Hydration plus electrolytes. And I know she was like, uh-huh. She's swallowing her water right now. i So i had a friend come visit ah this spring and we were laughing together. She's like, you know, she was on a super early flight from ah Toronto up here to Alberta.
00:13:39
Speaker
And she's like, I was laughing because everybody in front of me leaving for their vacation was like, yeah, ordering mimosas first thing. And she's like, I cracked open in my water bottle and put in my electrolytes and gave them a shake. And like, sorry, everybody, but this is crucial. Hydration.
00:13:57
Speaker
um Not only we don't realize when we're busy traveling, driving, flying, whatever, we don't realize how much we're not drinking when we're kind of outside of our daily routine. And we don't realize too, especially with flying, like the air is different, you know, all of these factors and dehydration is huge. So you actually don't want to arrive to your vacation and feel like a bag of bones, right? Absolutely. And to your point, Tanya, if on that vacation, you are going enjoy a margarita or a mimosa or whatever that cocktail or wine or whatever that alcoholic beverage may be of your choice, having those electrolytes are going to help rehydrate you after that.
00:14:37
Speaker
beverage choice. Absolutely. And again, too, if we're traveling to climates, hotter climates than what we're used to, we're in our bodies. That's not our home base, right? So again, dehydration, just being in a different climate. And then obviously like scientifically when you're hotter, you sweat more like just guys, what we're saying is please hydrate and sprinkle in a good quality electrolyte in there. Thank you. Like that's going to be key for you.
00:15:02
Speaker
Absolutely. Absolutely. So can we go back to nutrition for a second? I was just to say, okay, ah for you, that's what I was at wondering if we could go back to nutrition, because I watched a lot of your stories um of your spring travel, the past spring and whatever. And like, you had so many tips and like, you really do go above and beyond most people in the most positive way ever. And that's the stuff that you know, I really aspire to kind of get to in terms of even like, because of your restrictions, dietary checking in ahead of time, bringing stuff like that's where I wanted to talk about. But also, yes, that was on your trajectory. as long Sure. No, for sure. And just to clarify, because I don't think I've talked about this on this podcast yet.
00:15:46
Speaker
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's and autoimmune disease. And one of the things that I do that has really decreased my antibodies and kept my autoimmune disease in remission is going gluten-free.
00:15:59
Speaker
It's a big, big, big deal. And you know for people you know with celiac disease or people who are gluten-free because of Hashimoto's or autoimmune or for whatever reason, I don't love...
00:16:13
Speaker
You know, the fact that I have stopped having gluten, but the worry is the cross-contamination. The worry is

Mindful Indulgence and Nourishment

00:16:19
Speaker
that I can go somewhere and they not really understand how to prepare ah gluten-free meal.
00:16:25
Speaker
Or the severity of it in in these cases, right? It's not a preference for you. like yeah you So the severity of it as well, right? Right. And for anybody else out there who have dietary restrictions that are you know that you are concerned about, again, we're on vacation.
00:16:40
Speaker
We don't want to be worried about not feeling good. We don't want to be worried about, we want to enjoy the food we're consuming. We want to celebrate, relax, have fun. So on the outset, I make sure before I book, I speak to the hotel or the concierge and I talk about my dietary restrictions And find out if there are places, multiple places that I can eat there.
00:17:02
Speaker
And if I feel confident eating there, also great to have a recommendation from a good friend. But if it's somewhere new, I always speak to the concierge and I take a look at the menus to make sure that I'm going to feel comfortable eating there.
00:17:16
Speaker
I love that. And I think that is so important because there are so many people out there. with dietary restrictions that are restrictions. And I just think there's a lot of misconception, you know, when traveling or just in general that these are, well, they're, short I'm saying these are not a choice, but in what I'm saying is it's not a choice. Like you just prefer not to have gluten. You know what I mean? Like you can't have the gluten and like,
00:17:39
Speaker
For me, i come from, you know, my it's different for me. My dietary restrictions are all by choice. That doesn't mean that they're not important, but can I have gluten if I need to, to feed myself?
00:17:53
Speaker
Absolutely. You know what I mean? So for me, it looks very different. um I don't do those steps. I admire you for doing those steps. And it's something that I'd like to get better with.
00:18:05
Speaker
But right now, what's comfortable for me is I eat, as well as I can, and I make the best choices for what's available to me, because I know where I go, there's always going to be that choice. There's always going to be, let's say, if you're away at an all-inclusive, there's always going to be the choice to go and load up on all the fried stuff, all of the fried on top of fried stuff, right? And the white rices and everything that is not going to nourish me, give me my macros, my micronutrients, my phytonutrients, or there's going to be beautiful fresh food, beautiful french salads and, you know, fresh caught fish, depending on where you are and fresh fruits and veggies and whole grains. And like, it's a choice for me. And I do make the choice to eat the foods that are going to make me feel better.
00:18:53
Speaker
Do some fried foods, maybe slip in there sometimes. Yeah. But I'm a big balanced person. And I really want to drive home the fact in this is that even though i don't Even though I have different foods when I'm away on vacation and foods that I don't normally have on my day-to-day will slip in, they are not the bulk of it.
00:19:12
Speaker
And I am not doing it to the point of excess where I don't feel well. Just like you when you come back and you feel good from vacation, me too. Our goals are both the same.
00:19:22
Speaker
Well, and I think, Tanya, your point is so great because so much... I speak to clients on this all the time about many different things, but it totally applies to vacation here where, Nourish yourself first.
00:19:35
Speaker
So making sure that through the course of the day, you are getting your proteins, your fats, your veggies, your fruits, your nourishment in there. And then if you have that margarita, if you have that, I don't know, churro, you have that extra dessert, yeah that's just on top of it. You've already got your nutrients in, you know? So so like you said, that there's there's a bit of a balance to it.
00:20:03
Speaker
I literally love that. That is the phrase of this podcast, nourish yourself first and in general of life. Because yeah, I'll be honest with you.
00:20:13
Speaker
I could probably have seven croissants for breakfast when I'm away. i i nourish myself. used to love a good croissant as well. it's called Kim, I'm sorry to bring it up. i Did I have a croissant like when I'm away? Absolutely. But you're right.
00:20:25
Speaker
Nourish myself first. And don't feel guilty about it either. That's the other thing. In my opinion, what is worse than having that croissant is having the stress after eating that croissant and kicking yourself for it.
00:20:40
Speaker
So what I love to say to people too is be intentional about your choices. Right. You want to celebrate and have that. If you're in Mexico and want to celebrate with that margarita, go for it. Be intentional about it, but don't have it and then feel guilty about it. And then, you know, beat yourself up about it and have that stress. Because honestly, that stress is way worse for our body anyways, than that one margarita.
00:21:05
Speaker
Absolutely. And there is that link again to the emotional component of food, which is really me is that be intentional. Like you said, Enjoy every second of it, knowing that there's nothing to be guilty for because you're picking that nourishment first. You know what I mean? And even if you're not, I'm going to say it.
00:21:25
Speaker
Even if you literally are YOLO, it's your last night and you go on a bender. Yeah, you're going to pay for it. But the guilt part is really counter counterproductive. So here the podcast, yeah, we're not condoning nourishment.
00:21:40
Speaker
flushing your health down the toilet while you're away or anytime. But in general, give yourself grace. Give yourself grace for the balance that you choose and for maybe when it's a little bit imbalanced and you know what I mean, it happens, move forward, but in enjoy what you're having at the time. I sure do. like Absolutely.

Supplements and Travel Essentials

00:22:04
Speaker
Tanya, is there anything that you take with you when you're on vacation in terms of any different supplements, any different anything that you take with you? So yeah, lifestyle vacationing, that's another podcast. Let's do that. That'll be so exciting in terms of things that we don't consume inside of our bodies. But um definitely as we touched upon electrolytes, a thousand percent, no matter what my supplement regime does not change. So that's a strong non-negotiable for me.
00:22:33
Speaker
My supplements are packed for the whole duration and then a couple days extra because it's really important. Um, I think we talked about the inositol incident of 2020, no 2025. Did we talk about this?
00:22:50
Speaker
You and I have talked about it, but we haven't talked about it on the podcast. To the point where I bring all of my supplements and inositol is a white powder and definitely airport security really wasn't sure that it was inositol, but we straightened it out.
00:23:04
Speaker
<unk> was great Thank goodness I didn't get a call. Thank goodness you didn't get a call. Exactly. But as for for that, and the other non-negotiable in terms of like dietary we're talking about here for me is my LifeStraw bottle.
00:23:19
Speaker
Because water is so important to me. And again, other podcasts, but the quality of water is important. So that's something that travels everywhere with me.
00:23:31
Speaker
Explain that water bottle. It's a filter, right? It is. So LifeStraw is an amazing brand. They actually just make straws called LifeStraw where you can literally use your LifeStraw and drink from a river, right? Which is amazing. But they also make LifeStraw bottles. So it's a beautiful water bottle.
00:23:49
Speaker
And that filter filters out every single contaminant to which to say that they even say, you can fill it up in a gas station bathroom,
00:24:01
Speaker
As long as you make sure you don't touch the lip of the strut of the water and everything, ah you're covered. So for me, I was like sold, but in all honesty, it's a really great filter and it filters out bacteria, viruses, toxins, everything that we don't need to have into our bodies.
00:24:19
Speaker
Absolutely. I actually use the Berkey. Berkey also has a water bottle like that, that has the carbon filter in it and it filters your water as well. So yeah, that's a great tip.
00:24:30
Speaker
Another that I bring on vacation, usually I up my probiotic game before I go just to support my microbiome before going to another country, which may have different bacteria or things like that in their food.
00:24:42
Speaker
So usually I do that. um Another one I take on vacation just in case of any stomach bugs in my family, um i bring allicin. um And then the other one that I bring always for myself just as sort of a safety net in case there is something that I can't have in the morning for breakfast or whatever, is I bring my protein powder and my collagen. So that way I know that I can go to, you know, if like you were talking about an all-inclusive, if I go to the all-inclusive, grab myself some greens and some berries and have them mix me up a smoothie, I can add my protein powder to it and I have a full complement. I have a full meal.
00:25:21
Speaker
So that's just kind of like my safety mechanism. But I do, yeah, those are my, and electrolytes, of course, is a big one for me. Kim, I love that. I'm going to start bringing some protein powder, just not, not not necessarily for me if I can't find anything for breakfast, but just if I feel like I haven't gotten, and got enough because my only struggle is I don't eat meat.
00:25:43
Speaker
So not struggle in life, struggle when I go away sometimes. So sometimes I worry about my protein. So I'm going to take that tip from you. And you also reminded me as well, um, I not only travel exactly with my daily supplements, I travel with the most bursting bag of homeopathic. Yes. I was wondering if you would say that. know. you When you started, I was like, oh yeah, like I have my everyday stuff, but then my every occasion and the bag is bursting is probably 10 pounds. But let me tell you, it's come, it's come in handy, like from bug bites to, you know, sniffles to whatever.
00:26:16
Speaker
So I mean, it's nice to be prepared.

Summer Energy and Routine Maintenance

So, absolutely like, it's just something that's so important. I think those were great tips. And Tanya, before we go for the day, I thought, you know, because most of you likely, our podcast is dropping in the summer. Perhaps you're listening to this during the summer.
00:26:37
Speaker
And I think one thing I'd also love to say is, because this these clients that I was speaking with last night really, or yesterday, really sort of inspired this conversation, is So many of us, so, you know, we talked about the vacation thing, but during the summer, some of us put off, and it kind of goes back to our first episode, Tanya, put off or stop or get off the bandwagon of actually supporting their health. it's Summer's a great time. There's lots of parties.
00:27:09
Speaker
It's busy. you We're off our routines. And so it's, you know, for someone like me who loves a routine, sometimes it's easy to get off them, right? For someone who doesn't like a routine, it is very easy to get off.
00:27:21
Speaker
Yes. And so what we wanted to kind of end with today is why we think that summer, it's so important to keep prioritizing your health in the summer before we hit that busy September.
00:27:36
Speaker
Absolutely. And like, again, this is a whole vacation, eating well and staying well on vacation. And a lot of, again, going back to the start, summer is a vacation, excuse me, for a lot of us continuously, right?
00:27:50
Speaker
So putting it off as well. Um, And taking advantage of the energy, not only of the sunlight, these long, beautiful. Good point.
00:28:03
Speaker
But the energy inside of us. Because you tell me that when it's not the dead of February and it's dark all of the time, right now to the middle of July where it's bright all of the time, that your energy just isn't different inside of you for the part. Absolutely. And like how much more easy it is. So say you're you're doing that, I don't know, say you're having that morning run or that morning walk, how much how much easier would it be to get up at 6 a.m. when it's beautiful and sunny out in the summer rather than starting it in the winter where it's 6 a.m. and in my case, cold and rainy or your case,
00:28:44
Speaker
freezing cold and minus four centimeters of snow and dark. Exactly. No, exactly. And yeah, because summer can be, and really does feel all kidding aside, even though yes, most of us obviously work through the summer, it still does feel vacation. Like it, like you just said, Kim, there's more routines, gatherings, we're outside, we're done dinner and you see your neighbors outside and you socialize outside till 9 PM

Wellness Tips Recap and Sleep Importance

00:29:08
Speaker
while the kids play. You're not doing that in the winter.
00:29:10
Speaker
yeah, to treat every day like a vacation and then apply these tips. And in a nutshell, I think what we're trying to say is prep for your vacation. That includes snacks and all the foods that you don't want to be stuck without.
00:29:26
Speaker
You want to have hydration available for you, a good source of water and electrolytes. And make sure, especially if you or your family has dietary restrictions, that you're checking ahead of time.
00:29:40
Speaker
You're not just rolling in and being like, oh, great, you only serve fried chicken. Perfect. Right? Like making those calls and then packing what you need. Am I missing anything? I think the other part is making sure to keep up with your movement routine.
00:29:54
Speaker
Yes. Nope. It's if you can continue with it and maybe it looks different. Like I said, maybe that child of yours is coming with you on that morning walk, but keeping up with, with your, with your commitment to your movement routine is so, so important.
00:30:09
Speaker
And then I think, yeah, I think we, I think you nailed it, Tanya. That's it. Oh, you're right. Tanya is, yes. Tanya is wildly gesturing. Let's just be honest. thank um So what is my gesture? Let's see if Kim is good enough to play the charades. Tanya wants me to remind you about sleep. And it's so important. And it's interesting because we just talked about the sun. so yes,
00:30:36
Speaker
So naturally, our bodies likely will have more energy in the summer. Your circadian rhythm might be a little different than in the winter months where our bodies might stay up a little later and get up a little earlier rather than that hibernation, which again, another podcast, in the winter.
00:30:53
Speaker
But The idea is to stay consistent with that bedtime, stay consistent with the bedtime and wake up time. And that can help, um, that can help you feel better and give you more energy.
00:31:06
Speaker
Would you agree to me? again Yeah. And that for me, I'm going to be honest is a non-negotiable. So when we're, when we're on vacation and when we're with other people, and this is important to touch upon right before we leave, you might, I do. So I'm going to use me.
00:31:20
Speaker
I feel pressure sometimes when I'm with other people and they're on vacation and they want to stay up till one o'clock in the morning drinking and hanging out and having fun.

Closing Remarks and Future Outlook

00:31:28
Speaker
And I honor that and that's great for them. And sometimes I feel like, should I really be like, bye at like 930? Cause I like to like settle in and be asleep between 10 and 1030 in the summer, the winter's later. But so I honor that and that's a non-negotiable for me. So yes, I fully agree. And I just want to put it out there.
00:31:48
Speaker
Sometimes the things we do, might feel a bit uncomfortable in terms of going to bed early or bringing eggs on the plane, but we need to take care of ourselves. And I think the more that we can continue to honor our needs every day and especially on vacation.
00:32:04
Speaker
that's all Oh yeah, Tanya. And yet I think that is that is a huge piece and we don't have time for it today. And I think it warrants a really big conversation that some of the things and you know some of the things that we do, lifestyle and diet wise, might come up against somebody else.
00:32:23
Speaker
um But honoring, as you said, yourself and being able to say, okay guys, see you tomorrow and leave and go enjoy your sleep is so important rather as feeling that pressure to stay.
00:32:35
Speaker
And it's same goes with dietary, same goes with movement, all of those things. um You're absolutely right, Tanya. I completely agree. And it's hard. It's hard to keep that wondering. Definitely another podcast. I actually am writing it down. So I promise you guys, we will not forget Because that is a big one for sure.
00:32:55
Speaker
But yeah it's not a big one for today because we're going to go outside now. And and I am anyways. Enjoy the summer sun. It is lovely where I am. We hope you all are having a wonderful summer. If that's when you're listening to this or enjoying a vacation, if you are lying on a beach right now somewhere listening, we hope you're enjoying.
