Introduction to 'The Ripple Effect'

00:00:04
Speaker
You're listening to The Ripple Effect with your hosts Cheech and Nippy, a podcast that explores how individual change has the capacity to affect the whole. From neuroscience to donuts, we're two sisters with a deep curiosity for ancient wisdom and modern knowledge, and we're obsessed with learning alongside you because we don't know. Let's dive in. Sis, we are recording. Oh my gosh. We did it.

Podcast Updates and Reflections

00:00:34
Speaker
Welcome you back to the Ripple Effect FOD, Isa. This is a public service announcement. Kiara and Isabelle are back on the air. It's so exciting. Oh man, okay, so we are going to keep this short ah enough, but we do have a lot of wonderful updates. I'm so excited to share.
00:00:56
Speaker
Oh my goddess, so much change has happened since the last time we were on air. And an immense amount of change. I'm not using insane or crazy anymore. I'm trying to curb that. That's right. That's right. Do you want to share why? Because I'm in a psychology program. It's just not cool to walk around saying, that's crazy. That's very not that therapeutic vibe. But yes, and immense some amount. And we're not going to be sharing all of it, but definitely a couple updates are worth Sharing, specifically, um it's October, and a year ago, not to the date, but in last October, we launched this podcast. Whoa. Yeah. Yeah. We had been in a little break, but that doesn't matter. No, nobody knows that, right? No one knew we were missing for a chunk of time. No one. We don't matter. We're on hiatus. Yeah. A year ago, we launched this.
00:01:54
Speaker
Wow, this project has been such a good way to stay in touch with what matters. I mean, yeah. For me? Yeah, for me too. I hope for our listeners as well. That would be the vibe. That'd be so awesome if that was the vibe. You tune in, you listen, and you're like, ah, this feels like what matters. Not us, but like whatever happens in you when you're listening, that's nice. The real.

Kiara's Motherhood Journey

00:02:20
Speaker
The real. So speaking of the real.
00:02:22
Speaker
Yeah, well, I just can't not. I need to just tell you what I'm looking at right now, everybody. I'm looking at my sister, headphones on, her mic's on the table, she's seated, she has one hand on her knee, and her other hand is in a little bit of an L shape, holding her son a person.
00:02:47
Speaker
a real live human that she made with my husband and birthed and with her husband by her side and me and is now sleeping peacefully in her arms while we record. So that is a huge update. That is one of the big updates we wanted to give everybody. Kia ora is now a mom.
00:03:07
Speaker
ah the biggest change I have ever gone through by far. And if you knew Kiara in her younger years? Or a year and a half ago? No, two years ago? She was adamant that this was not going to be a reality. No, I didn't want it.
00:03:21
Speaker
but But then things change. Things change in a very wonderful way. yeah So yes, I am now a mom to a beautiful person. And this has been nine months of caring and a year of of conscious conception. So I've been in this journey and purposely not shared it on the pod because it wasn't it wasn't the change yet that I wanted to talk about.
00:03:48
Speaker
Yeah. And I'm not sure yet how, but I do want to talk about it now, but I also don't want it to take over the pod. So yeah, it's not going to become a birth podcast. So we're changing directions. No, someone asked me about the fact that you weren't sharing that on the podcast and how I felt about it and it was really clear to me that you would come to a place in time and formulate all the change that had happened in you into something that you felt good about sharing. So I knew it was going to come at some point. So I didn't feel like you were holding back from our clan in any way. But there was a lot that I watched you go through consciously within that process of change. That was really cool. And I, I,
00:04:35
Speaker
multiple times encouraged you to write about it because I knew in the future this could be very helpful to somebody going through this process because you did it really authentically and you did it really aligned with your values and you did it very beautifully, but also messy and also like real and allowed all of you to process through all of that. And then to see you go through the birth. I mean, we'll get into that, but I'm glad that you've come to a place where you want to share on the podcast. One is because what you just said, the processing it. um I have also, not that anybody noticed, but I have not been on social media since last November, doing any meaningful posts, maybe a story here or there, but I really took that time because I had a lot to process and I i wanted a lot of focus to be where it was and not and elsewhere.

New Podcast Format and Plans

00:05:29
Speaker
which makes me think of going forward, our format is going to be changing. That's our second big announcement. Public service, public service to everybody. Weekly episodes may not be a reality anymore. So we're thinking of shooting for biweekly. So once every two weeks, that seems much more sustainable for going forward. Here are little noises. and just He's just waking up. so next
00:06:00
Speaker
second on is This will be the other part of the format is there's going to be a little more live attitude of episodes at times. Yeah, we're going to roll with it. It's real life. You know, we're living real life and real life isn't polished. It's not curated. It's not what you snap in a picture. You know, it's it's the real deal. And we I don't have any desire to try and hide that from our clan. This is what we're doing. We still want to show up for ourselves and for our clan, and we have a new family member who might need our attention at times. that's I feel good about that. Yeah, but so bi-weekly episodes for sure. And the other part is we are going to do our best to get a Patreon page going so that ah you get to have these other type of episodes that Easton and I have been brewing for a long time that we find
00:06:49
Speaker
really valuable to each other, but I think definitely worth sharing, which are super candid, off the cuff, recording from our phones whenever the moment strikes us as we get into just sister conversations, living together about same thing, life change, much more long form and just unedited. And they have some crossover to episodes potentially, because obviously the episodes influence us as humans as well, but it also just lives on its own there. So you're going to get that as well. Yes. Thank you. And then going into season two, shall we call it? I think we should call it season two. I feel good because, you know, she feels good. Well, I think because we had thought don't keep. Are you going to keep doing that?
00:07:43
Speaker
sheki come You're being a commentator? I'm now the narrator of this story. So

Season Two Focus and Upcoming Content

00:07:50
Speaker
weird. Why do you get so weird?
00:07:55
Speaker
I don't know. Got it. Where was I? She was mid-sentence when she lost her thoughts. You are the worst. The baby brain kicked it. That's not it at all. Okay. Season two. Thank you. Season two. I think originally we had thought season one would feel complete when we explored being versus doing. That's kind of like the most rudimentary way to say that. but how does a change happen in a human body mind spirit so that if you can tap into beingness more so that you can go do and then we have thought oh maybe season two can be doing how do you actually do but stay stay in being or stay yourself or stay whatever why you change and now it's become more apparent that maybe just
00:08:48
Speaker
It's a year long. He talked over. We start another season. Yeah, I think we can stay open to that. I think a lot of the episodes that we have banked banks because we have interviews ready to go for you all for this coming season. We have um Kia Ota said Patreon material, but the episodes that we already have, I think there is kind of a theme to them already that is more doing, implementing action. You know, we have an interview with um Amy Glovin. Glovin, thank you. Who is the OG breathwork practitioner. She's been teaching forever. I mean, the people who call themselves experts now, who are grown people,
00:09:33
Speaker
she taught when they they when they were young. workers yeah Yeah, when they were young, she was the one teaching them, you know, so she happens to be a really dear, friendly friend. And we got this interview like, it's so dope. I'm so excited. I that episode, I can't wait for everyone to hear that is just yeah, as far as far as how do you take autonomy and action of the doing while staying connected to the being. That breath work episode really bridges that gap. And she does it she walks us through a little breath work session.
00:10:08
Speaker
Okay, this is exciting. We also have um like another shoot of presentness, Ryan O'Shea, and she is a voice and presence coach. And I came to her through acting, but man, she teaches everyone from all walks of life. And she really has some incredible tools, just straight up tangible tools to use to be present and be in your voice, drop in. And that's a really great episode because she's just present and dope. So that'll be I think that's going to be really constructive for anyone wanting to have
00:10:46
Speaker
ready-made ways of like, well, how do you stay present and with yourself when trying to do? So I'm looking forward to that one for sure. Then I also had a talk to my friend Helen a long time ago now. Some of these episodes are kind of baked from a while ago. So much change has happened with her, so it's exciting to actually share her with all of you. But she is an Akashic Records teacher, practitioner. But beyond that now, she's developed so much other coursework. And so her conversation is titled Under Spirituality, but
00:11:21
Speaker
It definitely crosses into this beingness talk and living your way spiritually, living as a spiritual path, not having it be different than regular life. Integrated. Integrated. Into all our affairs. Yeah, I think that's ah that's a strong conversation. I'm really looking forward to that.
00:11:39
Speaker
So those are some of our interviews which is are our sofa series episodes, which will continue our same format sofa series interviews and then our kitchen table talks is what we titled them are candid conversations between Kia and I and I know we have some good juicy content in those, especially around just the spiritual experience of birth and the wisdom that we both gained out of the birth portal process. Yeah, and I had said to Isa just briefly, I'll say it to you guys. I understand now why pregnancy and birth are used as a metaphor a lot because they do apply, even if you're not pregnant or birthing, it applies to so much of life. if There's a lot of core.
00:12:24
Speaker
touch points that I think and hope can be applied to just anyone's life. Yeah, I mean, I didn't go through that process. I was adjacent and I definitely can acknowledge how much of a teacher it is. Nice. And then, tacticals? Question mark? Question mark. I really wish I knew more. Me too.
00:12:53
Speaker
I wish I knew more of what could actually be helpful. Guys, i have this entire data people folks and people I have this entire database of potential tacticals and potential episodes that I geeked out early on and went so deep into chat GBT.
00:13:10
Speaker
And I was, it's so awesome. It's, it's the database for all like things change. Use that. But then I'm like, I want to know what's helpful for people though. Cause I go to do a tactical and I'm like, is this, don't know. well The way we've got it before is like, is it helpful for me? It's helpful for for you. yeah And we just go there. So. Yeah. Like I think about myself, I seem tactical. That one was so helpful for me to research on because I needed to know the information.
00:13:37
Speaker
Yeah. And I think that my tacticals might be a little less researched and a little more personal point of view and hope you get something out of it. Yeah. I think the the whole point of tacticals was a small bite, a small bite size episode that could be actionable actionable and applicable to you. Right. So that's good to keep in mind. Things that we can share that can help us that have helped us go into action. Anything else on this PSA? Oh, oh PSA, oh as always, if you're listening to this and you're not subscribed to our podcast, please subscribe.
00:14:14
Speaker
and become part of our clan? We call it a clan because we refer to it as the almost clan. And it's a huge part of what we're doing and what we want to continue to do through every season.

Embracing Imperfection and Community Engagement

00:14:26
Speaker
And hopefully the feedback is that we have you know accomplished it in season one.
00:14:31
Speaker
which is to not be perfect and just keep it real by doing enough and calling it enough and knowing that it does move the meter. What is that phrase? It moves the needle and that we collectively almost is enough. he Yes. Thank you. That is exactly it. That's exactly the sentiment that we don't have to be perfect, but if we all give it a shot and do our best, that almost will be enough.
00:15:01
Speaker
And just do what we can. I think that's the one thing that I am gonna take into season two a lot, and you'll hear me say it probably a lot because I've been told it at times that I really needed to hear it, which is, you're doing the best you can. And it's enough. And it's enough. That's the other part of that sentence. And man, through pregnancy, birth, motherhood, so far, I'm eight weeks in and...
00:15:26
Speaker
It's like terrifying. Like, no, it is the best I can and it it has to be enough. So yeah, just just built in grace is what this podcast is about. And hopefully we're tapping that for all of you and for you, Isa. I hope that this project keeps.
00:15:43
Speaker
keeps that alive in you because you are really graceful. And i I'm glad you get to share that with with our listeners. Thank you, Cheech. Yeah. And personally, it's helped me so much personally, but now I was sharing with Kiara the other day, going into grad school and looking at applying to graduate programs.
00:16:01
Speaker
I didn't really participate in a lot of extra research study, which a lot of schools want to see that you are doing extra research. I wasn't, but I was doing this podcast and I think it it really aligns with what I want to do in my career and what I already am doing in my career. and So all the people that followed through season one and are listening now, just thank you because it supports me in ways that you don't know on a lot of levels. So just, I want to say thank you to you for being a part of this, being, being with us in this. And I'm really looking forward to growing together, learning together and just doing life with, with all of you in our, in our circle.
00:16:43
Speaker
And as we grow, Patreon is a place where we really do want to have that realized interaction with all of you. The website wasn't quite able to launch in season one year, but we're still committed to having that be there. But when we researched Patreon, we found that it is a community-based platform that we can actually have interaction with you also. I want to really encourage you to join us there because it can be really meaningful to have ah conversations and connections beyond just this podcast. Yeah, not so one way. So, you know, Kiara and I just sit here and we talk out into the ethers and then and then we get text messages and DMs that you listen, but we don't we don't get to like actually interact with anybody. So that I didn't know much about Patreon, but that was something that became very attractive to me very quickly, is that it can be interactive with people. So that that's nice. I personally haven't subscribed to anybody else's Patreon. So I'm a little unsure, like, do people even do that? And I've been assured, yes, a lot of people do that. So I'm hoping that our clan can grow with me and jump platforms and and join each other and in a new place. Nice. Well said. Patreon is a paid platform. You can set it up that way where subscribers come and pay it ah a fee to have access to content. And while that is and incredibly important to us, as we said from the beginning, to to find a way to monetize this, to be able to support each other and ourselves and this project monetarily, maybe more importantly, it is truly the ability to connect and offer more.
00:18:21
Speaker
Yeah. And I just think about, I know Dr. Wendy Walsh, who was on the podcast in a previous episode, America's Love Expert. She has a Patreon where she has an interactive group that's been with her for years now that they meet and just do like Q and&A and they get contact with her. And I just was thinking Chiara's done clarity coaching and Akashic record readings and one-on-one work with people. And obviously I have a coaching practice that I do with people with limiting relief work and spiritual support and emotional freedom technique and a lot of different modalities. So I think it would be wonderful to be able to have office hours or you know just like open up so people can come connect with us if they want. you know Yeah, that's ah that's a great idea, Isa. And Isa and I have had many meetings with our producer, Mish, helping us to work out what Patreon looks like. So that isn't just a half-hatched idea. We do have vision for it, and and it's meaningful. Just like this this project, as far as a podcast we wanted to launch now, we recognize like Patreon is something too that we want to find. because
00:19:27
Speaker
social media, we found lacking only in the sense of a Facebook group. Just being in that that meta-verse isn't really where we want to be. And Patreon has its own situation, but I think we've chosen that wisely. Yeah, we did do a good amount of research on where we want to go from here with with our community. and we did Consciously. Consciously choose Patreon, yeah. Okay, anything anything else? I just appreciate the grace that you all listening will give to me as as a new mom walking through this, continuing to walk this project as a new person because I really am a new person now and this is a tether to not the old me but a true version of me that I want to continue to bring forth
00:20:10
Speaker
in a more vibrant and vulnerable way. So I'm really excited to share that and just appreciate the grace and timing when episodes can't quite get out or when I turn away from my mic or when there's noise in the background. um As Ysa said, real life. I hope that it just encourages all of you to to be real and share as well and and know that you can do things. Yeah, we're all in this together.
00:20:36
Speaker
Yeah. For we real. For real. We're all in this together. All right, everybody. Thank you for listening to this PSA. I'm going to leave you with a quote. When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves. Victor Frankel said that. Thank you all. Thank you to me. We'll see you maybe next week. You'll hear it from us. You'll hear. Yeah, you won't see us. That's right. You'll hear from us soon. Let's leave it at that.
00:21:06
Speaker
Okay, I think we did it. Listen. I don't know what we did, but we did it. Look, unattainable ideals are overrated. We're way more connected and deserving than society's false sense of separation dictates us to be. You're not just one person, you're enough. Your effort is enough and change is possible. Question the standard that says otherwise because what if almost is good enough? Just by tuning in, you're a part of our clan.
00:21:39
Speaker
Not in a call-to-way though. We don't know how far this ripple can go, but we're going to keep showing up. And we'll never get to perfection, but we're all going to be okay if we let the process be the solution and we see the value in the attempt. Thanks for listening to another episode of the ripple affect. We're looking forward to exploring a different facet of change with you next Tuesday. Same time, same place next week.
00:22:06
Speaker
