Introduction to Year-Round Holiday Tips

Hey everyone, Coach Leonard, the executive coach for moms here with another holiday tip. And this one is one that can be used year round. It's probably one of my favorite shifts, but we're gonna talk about it in relation to the holidays today.

Mindset Shift: 'I Have to' vs 'I Want to'

Versus I want to. When we're doing all this work, and I think a lot of times whenever we have a really full to-do list, we tell ourselves, I have to do this. And when we say that, it elicits a feeling of like, ugh, and dread, and just...

Like we're not excited about it, right? And so when we do it, it's like we're like trudging through the mud. So it takes more energy from us and the actual doing it. And it takes more energy leading up to it because it's like we're like dreading it. and we're just like thinking about it and mulling it over and just feeling like that very energy sucking feeling of dread. Okay.

Positive Energy and Task Enjoyment

And when we shift to, i want to, or I'm going to, or I'm so excited to, then we have a very different energy about it. So getting really clear with ourselves about everything that we are doing this holiday season is something that we either want to do or make it just neutral, like I'm going to do it. But whenever we have that dread, that is just going to suck our energy so much. and it's not going to leave time and energy for all of the other things we want to be doing this season that we're really, really genuinely so excited to do. So check what language you're using about that. So, so important. And the more and more you're saying, I have to, just notice how heavy that feels compared to changing that script to i want to or I'm going to.
