🎙 Episode Summary:
In this episode, we dive deep into what it truly means to be an empowered photographer. Beyond business tactics, the biggest challenge photographers face is feeling worthy of success. Many start photography for personal reasons, making it difficult to charge what they’re worth and confidently receive compensation.

💡 Key Takeaways:
✔️ Self-Worth & Pricing – When you undervalue yourself, you create a business model that leads to burnout.
✔️ The Power of Receiving – Charging what you’re worth allows you to show up fully for your clients.
✔️ Mindset Shift – You are not just a photographer; you are providing a luxury service capturing life’s most valuable moments.
✔️ The Cost of Playing Small – When you charge less, you feel less pressure but it also limits your success.
✔️ "When people pay, they pay attention." The more your clients invest, the more they value your work.

Action Step:
Think about one way you can step into empowerment today, whether it’s raising your prices, setting boundaries, or confidently marketing your work.

Introduction to the Empowered Series

00:00:03
Speaker
Welcome to Empowered. I am so excited to share this new experience with you that I dreamed up while I was on a walk. And if you are new to me, you will learn quickly that I am equal parts strategy, equal parts energetics when it comes to your photography business, and really when it comes to your life.
00:00:26
Speaker
So I'm very excited

Purpose of the Series

00:00:27
Speaker
to share this with you. I think it's going to be super fun. And I want to tell you a little bit about why I named this series empowered. first of all i know this isn't actually a podcast it's not on itunes it's not on spotify i just wanted a quick way to share knowledge about art and business with you why i was getting a lot of questions in my facebook group on my instagram account in my email about running a photography business And I was feeling like there was this divide between photographers who asked me questions from an empowered place and photographers who asked me ah questions from a place that was disempowered, meaning that their confidence was really

Community and Empowerment

00:01:06
Speaker
low.
00:01:06
Speaker
Now, no one of those places is wrong. We all kind of teeter back and forth from feeling empowered and feeling disempowered. But my hope for myself and for my community is to bring us all up, to rise us up to that empowered place because I know that the more artists, the more photographers that are sharing their creative gifts with the world, the better.
00:01:29
Speaker
I believe wholeheartedly in community over competition.

Flexible Listening Format for Busy Times

00:01:33
Speaker
I also was thinking about starting a video series to share the answers to these questions in video, whether it be on my stories and saving as a highlight or YouTube or in my Facebook groups with a live. But what I was realizing in my own mind was that this is busy season.
00:01:50
Speaker
And if you're listening to this, you know, on the replay and you're not in the busy season, but for you to know when I started recording this, it's September, end of September, we're all really busy. And sometimes it's hard to sit down and watch something and be really present.
00:02:03
Speaker
But for some reason, when you pop in those earbuds and you're doing the dishes or you're picking your kids up from school or you're on a walk or whatever, or maybe you're editing, you're able to sort of absorb the information while doing other things while multitasking. So that's where this idea came from. And I wanted it to happen quickly. I wanted it to be intimate.
00:02:22
Speaker
So I'm calling it a podcast experience knowing full well that it's not an actual podcast. So just little insight into my mind. So I want you to think about stepping into this new place of empowerment.

Target Audience: Early-Stage Photographers

00:02:34
Speaker
I want you to think about becoming an empowered photographer, an empowered business owner, and I'm going to share with you some things along the way that are going to really hopefully help you with that, especially right now in this beginning phase of this little, you know, private listening experience that I'm creating for you.
00:02:52
Speaker
So that's where that all came from.
