We saved something unique for the season finale! This documentary is Legendary and perhaps Infamous. There's nothing more to say, just give it a watch and dive into the episode.

Paris is Burning- Excellence on Display

This is a very special episode which will be revealed in the first couple minutes, but I don't want to spoil it here. This movie has a lot to say about internalized and extremely externalized rules about who fashion is for, and who gets to be celebrated in this world. The clothes are so fun and vibrant and full of joy. But who do we allow to feel joy?

Empire Waist- Confession Time

We both came into this viewing expecting to have a fun time with a big over the top story. And came away from it being confused as to where all the fun was. Perhaps not our favorite, or anywhere close, this season. But, there were still some fun 1980's looks to be had, and it sparked a lot of discussion about how a designer cannot save a movie that doesn't know what it's trying to be.

House of Gucci- Where was the camp?

This movie is a wild and creepy ride of visual storytelling. There's so much to see and love, and so much to hate and fear. A perfect combination. Follow us into the lucid dream if you dare.

Last Night in Soho- Engulfed in Flames

We're back after a mini-interruption, but we've got just the thing you've been waiting for. This movie has everything because it was constantly changing course and focus, it's like 10 movies in 1! The movie itself, and the behind-the-scene machinations, both ask the same question- how much credit (and money) should the people get who REALLY design the iconic looks?

A little food for thought: https://variety.com/2021/artisans/global/cruella-costume-designers-licensing-disney-jenny-beavan-1234986629/

Cruella- A New Movie Every 20 Minutes

We're getting real heisty over here. This movie sees a certain number of women with a certain set of skills obtain a certain amount of things. And the fashion looks while doing all that are impeccable and so character driven. This movie explores how the right outfit at the right time can make you stand out or blend in, whichever is most useful for crimes.

Ocean's 8- For Women it's Business

It's THE movie about fashion. That's all.

*Also sorry for some extremely vocal birds about 5 minutes in that stick around for a few minutes.

The Devil Wears Prada- Sometimes, Everyone is Wrong

Get ready for FASHION, get ready for GLAM, get ready for vaguely CONSERVATIVE STREETWEAR. This movie may have been a lot of people's introduction to drag, and hopefully we've all come a long way since then. Come learn about what it means to make BOOTS.

Kinky Boots- Maroon Is Not Sexy

This movie taught us how to be adults, and maybe we're still chasing that dream. It's a testament to developing your own joyful sense of style and what you can do when you take fashion into your own hands. Sorry this description is short, I cut my foot earlier and my shoe is filling up with blood...

Romy & Michele's HS Reunion- A Fun, Frisky Use of Color

This movie is a trip. It's a full on cartoon made with real people instead of animation. Hi-jinks galore, you just have to go along for the ride because it just doesn't make sense. But it's bursting at the seams with 80's fashion that really push the limits of what a blazer can be. Full of very quirky little guys. Who wants to go to the mall??
