It took Whitney and Derrick a year to convince Jack to see this movie, and once he did, he was hooked. VIOLENT NIGHT is a Christmas action comedy starring David Harbour and John Leguizamo. David Harbour plays Santa Claus, who used to be a Viking, apparently, and he has to save a little girl and her family from a group of terrorists led by John Leguizamo, who take them hostage. It's violent (duh), bloody, and hilarious, and we're talking all about it!

In this episode, the second of The Mandalorian’s unofficial season 2.5, Din Djarin visits Grogu, and accidentally walks in on Jedi daycare run by Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano. He ultimately decides not to interrupt the youngling’s path while Luke and Ahsoka Tano discuss Grogu’s future. While Grogu is busy leveling up in frog levitation, trouble brews back on Tatooine. Cad Bane saunters into the newly christened Freetown like a dusty gunslinger, encountering Cobb Vanth and warning the town to stay out of the coming war. The confrontation ends with Cad Bane shooting Vanth, escalating tensions before the showdown with the Pyke Syndicate.

This supersized episode, celebrating our 3rd anniversary, revisits our second-ever episode as we discuss Cool as Ice! It follows Johnny, a mysteriously chill biker played by Vanilla Ice, whose strangely cinephile-related wardrobe alone could cause seizures. When his crew gets stranded in a small town, Johnny zeroes in on honor-student Kathy, whose life is about as rebellious as vanilla ice cream. Chaos, romance, and a lot of early-’90s fashion choices ensue as Johnny tries to win her over and help her family out of trouble, proving that sometimes the coolest thing you can do is show up, perform a guerrilla-style rap show, and say “lose the zero and get with the hero” with complete sincerity. We go way off the rails, but hey, it's a party, folks!

We're kicking off season 2.5 of The Mandalorian smack dab in the middle of The Book of Boba Fett with Chapter 5: The Return of the Mandalorian! Chapter 5 of The Book of Boba Fett, “Return of the Mandalorian,” could easily be retitled “Meanwhile, in Din Djarin’s Show…” because Boba takes the week off. After completing a bounty, he reunites with the Armorer and learns more about the Darksaber but is exiled from his covert for removing his helmet, and then trades in his old ship for a souped-up starfighter with a surprisingly nice paint job. Finally, Fennec Shand recruits him to aid Boba Fett in the upcoming conflict against the Pyke Syndicate.

HTSF Ep 67: The Book of Boba Fett Ch 5: The Return of the Mandalorian

Derrick's love for bad Lifetime movies and Eric Roberts has been well-documented, and this one is the third entry in the gloriously unhinged Lifetime thriller series starring Eric Roberts as the disturbingly charming Dr. Albert Beck. After narrowly escaping justice yet again, Beck becomes the target of his former victim Sophie, who sets out to expose and humiliate him. But the doctor isn’t one to take humiliation lying down, and soon the tables turn in a wild cycle of gaslighting, obsession, and melodrama. It’s a campy, twisted cat-and-mouse tale where revenge and romance collide, plus we get Dr. Beck going completely off the rails with hallucinations of himself as a laid-back island partier.

After some kitchen droid chaos and a Sarlacc pit rematch to attempt to retrieve his armor, he forms a lasting alliance with Fennec, marking the beginning of their partnership to take control of Mos Espa.

HTSF Ep 66: The Book of Boba Fett Ch 4: The Gathering Storm

You knew you weren't getting out of Derrick's 40th birthday month without a Cynthia Rothrock film, and this one is a doozie. Tiger Claws is a martial arts action film starring Rothrock and Jalal Merhi as cops investigating a string of brutal murders in which victims are killed with a deadly tiger-style kung fu technique. Their hunt leads them to a mysterious martial arts master (played by the great and terrifying Bolo Yeung), whose deadly skills and mystical beliefs blur the line between training and killing. Packed with cheesy dialogue, 90s cop-movie grit, and plenty of high kicks, this one is going to be a blast.

This week, we get into Derrick's love for Ozsploitation filmmaking with an Australian dystopian action film where society has gone off the rails... and so have the cars. A young man named Crabs takes his girlfriend to a drive-in movie, only to discover it’s actually a government-run prison camp for the unemployed and outcasts. Trapped behind electrified fences, surrounded by junk cars, junk food, and junk culture, Crabs plots his escape while everyone else seems weirdly content to stay. It’s part Mad Max, part social satire, and all 1980s neon apocalypse.

In "The Tribes of Tattooine", the best episode of The Book of Boba Fett, our hero gets an uninvited visit from a pair of Hutts who want his throne and they even bring their Wookiee muscle, Black Krrsantan, for extra intimidation points. Meanwhile, in his Tusken flashbacks, Boba graduates to full tribe member after pulling off a slick train heist against the Pyke Syndicate and teaching the Tuskens to fight for themselves. He forges his own gaffi stick, joins a Raider dance party and is initiated into their culture, marking his full acceptance into the tribe.
