Speaker: What's going on? Are you surviving this heat wave or are you melting like I am? um Anyway, i was gonna do an episode about the toxic men of Love is Blind u k because those toxic men of Love is Blind u k Love is Blind, the ultimatum, like those episodes are always among my most popular episodes.
Speaker: But there weren't that many problematic men. And I wasn't that enthused to do an entire episode on them. you know what I mean? There was Jack.
Speaker: And then there was Ryan. And i was like, I don't know if you guys want to hear me state the obvious that these idiot fuckboys are useless.
Speaker: So I think I'm going to spare you guys on making an episode about The toxic men of Love is Blind. And honestly, I feel like they didn't really have toxic women of Love is Blind UK season three.
Speaker: you know, nothing was, I think, substantial enough for me to um record an entire episode about it. So I have been, but shout out to, you know, the couples. It was a solid season. There were 14 engagements at Netflix and,
Speaker: filmed six of those and aired six of those. And out of the six, four couples got married, which is really, really great. Those are really great odds.
Speaker: And all of the couples are still married when they had the reunion. Anyways, so I think I'm going to start a sub stack. So I just think that it's very important This episode obviously is unlike my typical episodes. This is just like personal life stuff.
Speaker: But I think it's really important for me to let myself know that this is like my sub stack is not going to make me any money at all. So if it makes me money, great.
Speaker: If it doesn't make me money, great. I think when you start a project and you hope to make money, It's very easy to get very discouraged because absolutely everything is oversaturated.
Speaker: Like the time to start a sub stack was like 2019, right? if not sooner. I don't even know when that company launched. But the point is, everything is oversaturated.
Speaker: And you just would need to put in, like, I believe that someone who doesn't have an enormous following would need to put in at least two years of their time, like 20 hours a week, if not 40 hours a week, to make enough money to live off of. And that's just a maybe.
Speaker: So because i I saw somebody post and they were like, okay, you need to put all of your shit behind a paywall. This is a business. And I think that's a really harmful way for me to approach this. I think my newsletter needs to be free and or I could have a paid tier, but I don't think everything should be behind a paywall.
Speaker: I don't think I should be going into this to make money because I think I will rip my hair out if that's the case. So I'm still deciding on what I want my sub stack to be about.
Speaker: I think I wanted to cover like four topics. Of the top of my head, I think I want to cover dating, modern dating, of course. So that also encompasses dating dating apps,
Speaker: just the current modern dating trends and all that. think want to do modern dating. think I want to do some reviews, definitely some reviews of like TV shows, things I watch.
Speaker: I think I want to do travel content, ah maybe some lifestyle content, some products and things that I like. I'm that's what I'm thinking.
Speaker: So I don't know if I want to narrow my narrow my focus or broaden it. And i also oh I also want to do like trending topics or big headlines because y'all I was so locked in to the day John love story and I'm just like recording this off the cuff in real time. And I'm wondering, should I do an entire episode on Dajon Love?
Speaker: I mean, oh my God, I can't. Anyways, so the Dajon Love story, i already have an idea of a post that I want to make about it on Substack.
Speaker: And this is if it actually happens, because I'm very busy. But as I said, I've been really, within the past few months, I've been strongly thinking that I'm going to start a sub stack slash a newsletter.
Speaker: But with the Dajon Love story, basically what I want to write about is who's to blame?
Speaker: Is Dajon Love to blame? or are his victims to blame? And of course, I don't believe in victim blaming. I also do believe that there are exceptions to every rule.
Speaker: But seriously, who's to blame here? Right? Because you have the scammer, and then you got the people who fell for the scam. Right?
Speaker: And so I feel like This like the Dajon love story speaks to a very sad growing, a very sad reality.
Speaker: And that sad reality is people in America do not have money. They are paycheck to paycheck. They are struggling. And so I think when you find people who don't have money and you dangle a carrot in front of them.
Speaker: And you're like, give me some of your money to invest. I will make you a lot of money very quickly. i can understand how people could fall for that.
Speaker: Because nobody talks about how they're struggling. I wrote about ah working in the gig economy, and that was the hardest thing for me to write about. And I write about a lot of very revealing things, but me writing about working in the gig economy, that felt like the most shameful thing.
Speaker: It felt like it was the most revealing part of my book, even though i have so many other parts of my book that are revealing. So my point is like so many people are struggling. They're too embarrassed to say it. They're too embarrassed to talk about it.
Speaker: And here comes the scammer who is promising you wealth very quickly. And that's really, really sad. And it's really sad because with Dajon Love, there were about, there were countless red flags.
Speaker: Like, you can't even number them all. How it was obvious that he was a liar. He didn't know what he was talking about. But he was successful.
Speaker: Like, the headlines always say that he scammed at least 26 women out of million. is actually like $1.387 million. the total is actually like one point three eight seven Okay, sorry. $1,387,000. It's something like that.
Speaker: he It was almost $1.4 million. and i just And I truly believe that a lot of his victims, like, the authorities don't even know who they are.
Speaker: Like, I think it could be a lot more than $1.4 million. It could be a lot more than 26 women. So succeeded. so he succeeded And it just, I don't know, there's there's a lot, there's so much to unpack there, y'all, because it's like if he didn't, if he wasn't pretending to be an NFL player, would these women have been giving him their money?
Speaker: And it's like, I respect, I honestly respect the Tinder swindler more than I so respect Dajon Love. Because the Tinder swindler never asked for money to ask his victims for money to invest with him to make more money. he asked his victims for money to save, to protect and to save his life.
Speaker: Right? Right. He didn't make any false promises about like, I'm going to make you rich. I'm to make you wealthy. i need us to build together. I need us to be a power couple.
Speaker: um So like these poor women like really thought that this fake NFL player was going to change their life. um But anyways, moving right along. So yeah, it's like on my sub stack, I would write about the Dajon loves, you know what I'm saying? So like I said, I need to think about what topics I want to cover.
Speaker: And I feel that I want to write a lot of content before I launch it because I don't want to feel like I have all this ongoing time sensitive homework. And so yeah, I'm not 100% on launching newsletter.
Speaker: on launching a newsletter But I'd say I'm about 80% because I just feel like it's a good business decision overall just to give my book publicity.
Speaker: Oh, something that i something else that I want to do on my sub stack is I want to definitely go behind the scenes a lot of when it comes to my book, like breaking down like basically almost line by line of my book.
Speaker: So that's an idea too. Like part of me feels like I could have an entire sub stack that breaks down my book, ah an entirely separate sub stack that talks about like current events and dating and travel and things like that. So i will figure it out.
Speaker: Right now, i just like moved last week. And so i have a lot on my plate, but I'll figure it out. I do think sub stack is coming and i will keep you guys posted.
