Introduction and Overview of Key Matches

00:00:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome to another special episode for the Care About Cup where we will talk about the Liverpool Tottenham semi-final game and the final between Liverpool and Newcastle that will be playing on March 16. This is your host Victor with the Global Sports Podcast Network. And today I'm joined by two very happy Liverpool fans. The quadruple dream is still alive. So we're going to hear from Louis and Marcus. How are you guys?
00:00:35
Louie Easton
Yeah, good. I hate the quadruple shout, but I love it at the same time.
00:00:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah Secretly, I just want to, I just want to jinx it.
00:00:40
Louie Easton
The the dreaming can start.
00:00:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
I just don't want to jinx it secretly as a main item.
00:00:43
Louie Easton
ah Yeah. Yeah, Victor's a Man United fan, so he'll be quite upset to see Liverpool doing well.
00:00:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:00:51
Marcus Ramtohul
and we we did spend some time before hitting record talking about our age and I feel like I am the perennial uh liveful fan who doesn't still quite believe and and I'm just pinching myself right now that that that is still on I did start yesterday's episode saying hey Spurs could win a treble so yeah why not let's let's dare to dream
00:00:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
yes so
00:01:13
Louie Easton
ah Yes, yes.
00:01:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
To be honest with you, the things, the things, the way that things are going, I would not be surprised if you guys get all four, but we'll see.
00:01:23
Louie Easton
I would.
00:01:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
See how

Resolving Salah's Contract: Key to Success?

00:01:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
it goes.
00:01:24
Louie Easton
All four. All four is quite a, quite a feat.
00:01:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
They need to fix the contract situation as soon as possible before it becomes a problem and someone else try to step in and then you lose the dressing room, something's going to happen with Salah, some talks that he might go somewhere else and then everything can go downhill from there.
00:01:33
Louie Easton
just This is, yeah.
00:01:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
So yeah, give him the money.
00:01:44
Louie Easton
He was... he was smacking the badge when he scored.
00:01:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Whatever yeah whatever he's asking, give him the money.
00:01:50
Marcus Ramtohul
I mean, Liverpool fans have been saying that for about...
00:01:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's all I'm going to say.
00:01:50
Louie Easton
well
00:01:53
Marcus Ramtohul
It feels like over a year when you look at what he's done, what he's capable of. Another fantastic finish for the penalty today. We have all been saying whatever it takes, give him what he wants.
00:02:02
Louie Easton
pen?
00:02:06
Marcus Ramtohul
And as as you said, Louis, you know, not just scoring a fantastic penalty, but I think he's making it very clear where his heart lies. And that is certainly with with LFC.
00:02:16
Marcus Ramtohul
And I agree, Victor, you know, we do need to sort that out.
00:02:17
Louie Easton
yeah yeah so did I yeah
00:02:20
Marcus Ramtohul
ah No business done in the transfer window. but also, you know, squad looking incredible. And we will obviously talk about the game, but one of the moments that I i did feel sorry for Spurs today, particularly around the 70th minute when changes started to be made and you start to see McAllister and Jota coming on, and then Diaz coming on, and you go, oh my word, this is

Liverpool's Squad Depth: Advantage or Challenge?

00:02:47
Marcus Ramtohul
some team.
00:02:47
Louie Easton
it's It's rubbing our squad depth in their face because that's what they've struggled with all season. I do feel bad for Spurs, you're right. And, you know, as a football the football fan in me ah did kind of want to see Spurs or Newcastle win the Carabao Cup. And, you know, Newcastle still might. But, ah you know, as a Liverpool fan,
00:03:08
Louie Easton
You can't feel too bad. You want to go for all four. Let's continue going for all four. But like you said about the contract situation, I think FSGR, what what they're doing is taking a risk by, you know, thinking, well, if they win the league, they will be able to negotiate more stuff on their terms because, you know, as it stands, I mean, we saw in the Champions League, Liverpool very well could be the best team in the world at the moment.
00:03:33
Louie Easton
And um
00:03:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:03:34
Louie Easton
when we are playing like we played against Spurs just now, rightly so, we can take advantage of that situation.
00:03:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think the issue might be what if some club from Saudi Arabia comes in and offers Salah three times of what he's making now or what he's asking from Liverpool. And then that gets into his head and and when the problems start.
00:03:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
So yeah, they need to get that sorted and Ufan Dyke as well. Trent, I love Trent, but I love Bradley as well.

Bradley's Performance Against Spurs

00:04:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
So how do you guys feel about that?
00:04:04
Louie Easton
Yeah, Bradley had a great match. Yeah, what a match.
00:04:07
Marcus Ramtohul
He did have a great game. he So interestingly, I thought he had a great game and he looked really good off the ball as well. There's some really smart defensive decisions made that kept Son quiet until about the 70th minute when he kind of came alive.
00:04:23
Marcus Ramtohul
um But there were a few moments where I thought he was um just kind of a bit too heavy handed. his taets I mean, Anfield loved it. You know, he was flying in just like he did on Killian Mbappe and people were saying, oh you know, you could feel the crowd getting behind him.
00:04:35
Louie Easton
Mmm.
00:04:38
Marcus Ramtohul
But I also thought, oh, gosh, you make just you know a few seconds the wrong way and you're off the pitch. um So it did worry me. But yeah, very good game. um And again, highlights the depth of the squad, which This time last season we were not saying i think little fans were crying out for investment ah in all the windows and look to the business that you know with stock coming in. In the summer i when we're not doing anything but so far so good.
00:05:09
Louie Easton
I don't think we need to.
00:05:09
Marcus Ramtohul
ah
00:05:10
Louie Easton
I just think, you know, with FSG, ah they can, I trust them wholeheartedly with a everything that they're doing.
00:05:21
Louie Easton
You know, our youth coming through and, you know, the youth that we still have, even in midfield, defensive midfield, Tyler Morton, trainee-only coming through the ranks, ah the way that they played in, I think it was the FA Cup against Zacharington Stanley,
00:05:37
Louie Easton
which is showing we don't need to buy players we have the players we just uh the the only one i think is center backs but that's it and that and
00:05:47
Marcus Ramtohul
So it's interesting to hear you know the the change of tone around FSG's business model because there's certainly a a section of Liverpool fans who are like, hang on a minute, this club needs investment. you know Talk about kind of getting close um in previous seasons and and thinking, hang on a minute.
00:06:04
Marcus Ramtohul
The Anfield Road stand, I've been there a few times now, the new stand, it is fantastic and I can't believe it's it's part of our stadium which is amazing.
00:06:12
Louie Easton
Mmm.
00:06:13
Marcus Ramtohul
So you can see the the kind of long-term plan there but there is a frustration when you saw, and you know, Cassado and all the other players kind of going to other teams.
00:06:22
Louie Easton
Flavia. Zubermendy as well.
00:06:24
Marcus Ramtohul
um Yeah.
00:06:25
Louie Easton
I mean that frustrated me.
00:06:27
Marcus Ramtohul
but actually i think you know you are right the the squad looks incredible it doesn't look you know particularly different i think the difference here is you've got a manager in slot who is really managing players game times injuries um and it's making the difference and you know the difference can be seen in this team that spurs had to feel today
00:06:50
Louie Easton
Yeah, absolutely. um Shall we talk about the match then?
00:06:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
how did you guys feel yeah How did you guys feel before the game going being down 1-0?
00:07:01
Louie Easton
um confident to be honest I didn't really feel like because it I think the reason I was so confident is because it was at Anfield at 8pm and that is the worst stadium in the country to go to when you have a one goal lead to defend ah and we saw even during the second half and I say this all the time about Anfield.
00:07:24
Louie Easton
As soon as the fans take over and sing so much like they were today, even bringing back some of the old classics, um it's it's like tactics go out the window and it's just men against boys.
00:07:39
Louie Easton
You know, that Sobholzlei goal completely depicted that with the um with with Bradley being up as a number 10 at that point, getting the assist.
00:07:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yep.
00:07:49
Louie Easton
Sobholzlei, the most suave player in the world, taking that goal so nicely. ah And it just felt like everything was going in our favour, so I didn't think we would win by four, but I felt very comfortable that we would score two at least goals.

Liverpool's Dominance and Hunger

00:08:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
You could tell from the very beginning how hungry they were and it was just all Liverpool all game.
00:08:12
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah, there was there was
00:08:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
I secretly wanted to see penalties, but again, congrats.
00:08:15
Marcus Ramtohul
Oh gosh, like my my heart wouldn't have taken it and I would have worried about stretching this, this squad. And you're right, Victor, about the hunger, because the game was, it felt like the game was done before, you know, before the goals were banging in, to be honest, it was only a matter of time.
00:08:34
Marcus Ramtohul
But you saw, and Siboslai typified this, 92nd minute, and he was still chasing down, still pressing, and they were just, they they were,
00:08:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yep.
00:08:44
Marcus Ramtohul
Like Andy Robertson was saying a couple of years ago, I think it was against Man United, they were ruthless. They did not let it up, which was such a great thing to see. To have been there tonight at Anfield I think would have been really special.
00:08:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:09:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, we can pretty much go straight to the final if you guys are for it because there's nothing else to say about the Liverpool. This was totally one-sided. There was nothing really Tottenham that there was no contest in in this game.
00:09:10
Louie Easton
yeah
00:09:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
But first of all, before we do that, we'll have a quick word from our sponsors and then we'll come back to analyze the final and give you our predictions.
00:10:27
Louie Easton
I was really putting on my advert voice for that one, honestly. Shall I just do the rest of the podcast?
00:10:32
Marcus Ramtohul
ah
00:10:33
Louie Easton
I'll do the rest of the podcast with that voice.

Anticipating the Final: Predictions and Key Players

00:10:35
Louie Easton
So, looking ahead to the final at the Webly Stadium.
00:10:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's awesome.
00:10:40
Louie Easton
but Right, anyway, let's move on. I'm getting embarrassed now.
00:10:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
Why? That sounded pretty solid.
00:10:46
Marcus Ramtohul
This is the advert for Louis to be the voice of the trains.
00:10:50
Louie Easton
ah
00:10:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
You just have the voice for it.
00:10:51
Louie Easton
ah
00:10:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's that's all it is.
00:10:53
Louie Easton
ah You're very kind, guys.
00:10:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
You have the voice.
00:10:55
Louie Easton
Thank you.
00:10:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah But yeah, let's move to the final Liverpool Newcastle. That's going to be one exciting game.
00:11:02
Marcus Ramtohul
Oh gosh.
00:11:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
To be honest with you, I'll give you my prediction right away and you can talk to me bad about it. This is how it's going to play out. Isak is going to score in the first half, 0-1.
00:11:14
Louie Easton
Okay. Yeah.
00:11:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Liverpool's gonna score in the second half to tie it. It's gonna go to overtime and listen to this. If Darvie Nunes starts on the bench, he's gonna score in overtime to win you the game.
00:11:25
Louie Easton
It comes on. I mean, that would be absolutely beautiful.
00:11:27
Marcus Ramtohul
Oh!
00:11:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
2-1 overtime, Darvie Nunes to win it.
00:11:31
Louie Easton
That would be beautiful. You sound like a Liverpool fan, mate. It's like you want this as well. yeah
00:11:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm just trying to be nice here with you guys.
00:11:40
Marcus Ramtohul
I mean, as long as it's not 3-3, the classic Newcastle Liverpool.
00:11:43
Louie Easton
Oh God, I don't think my heart could take that. I mean, whenever it's a League Cup final, me and my dad always meet up with our mates at Box Park Croydon. Yeah, that's where we go to watch the matches. um Actually an incredible venue and when there's not a punch up, but...
00:12:01
Louie Easton
That's typical Croydon, honestly. but Honestly, like it's incredible going there because you you meet up with other Liverpool fans, but that makes you even more stressed. You're just watching it as a groove. and it's It's tense. so our The penalty shootouts I had to watch for the last League Cup final with Chelsea, not the last one, the one before, sorry. That was absolute. When Mane missed, win the FA Cup as well, I thought that was it. But yeah, it will it will be an incredible final because, you know, two incredible fan bases in Liverpool and Newcastle.
00:12:43
Louie Easton
um
00:12:43
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah.
00:12:44
Louie Easton
And, you know, the Newcastle players will be really up for it. I'm scared of Isak. He is unbelievable.
00:12:50
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah.
00:12:51
Louie Easton
Even Jacob Murphy has suddenly found himself in a little bit of form, finding himself in the right place at the right time in two occasions in a row now ah for Newcastle.
00:12:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:12:55
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah. Hmm.
00:12:59
Louie Easton
But, I mean... it it if if if then If there's anything with Newcastle, it's sort of playing on atmosphere. ah They do it at St James's Park very often and I mean, I think Liverpool win in quality, but I just think Isak is so good that he can probably win the match on his own and that's what scares me the most about them.
00:13:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think the difference for Newcastle is definitely Tonali because once he got fit to play 90, it's been a change for them.
00:13:21
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah.
00:13:27
Louie Easton
Yeah, that's true, that's true.
00:13:30
Global Sports Podcast Network
You can tell how Isak always finds the play to be open. They create that and he gives like support to like Bruno and Joe LinkedIn. It's just, it's a different Newcastle for sure. And they, they're so exciting to watch.
00:13:41
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:13:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's another thing. It's not just they're winning.
00:13:42
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah.
00:13:43
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:13:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
They're really, leave really dangerous all the time.
00:13:46
Marcus Ramtohul
And Gordon is is really creative as well and and kind of shows yeah shows no fear.
00:13:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
What a hard worker. I love that guy.
00:13:51
Marcus Ramtohul
yeah I think he's a really good good signing and he seems to be really you know happy playing at Newcastle. Interesting as well. I don't think Murphy got enough props for that finish by the way.
00:14:03
Marcus Ramtohul
Straight off the post and really tidy finish.
00:14:04
Louie Easton
Yeah, because because um I mean, with the Bournemouth match, when we played against them and the ball came straight to Clivett, he panicked. And, you know, even him, as good a player as he is and as experienced now in the Premier League with scoring goals this season, he panicked. But Jacob Murphy is one of these players that sort of come alive recently and I mean, Al Maron, we know, is not as has is a look starting to look a little bit like a one-season wonder um on the right wing for Newcastle.
00:14:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's already back in Atlanta, so he's already back, yeah.
00:14:40
Marcus Ramtohul
yes Yeah, see I was going to say, he's away. He's gone.
00:14:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's already back to his Atlanta club.
00:14:44
Louie Easton
Is it?
00:14:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
I actually watched him literally at...
00:14:46
Louie Easton
I actually didn't know that that. I completely missed that bit of news.
00:14:48
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah.
00:14:50
Louie Easton
Is it really? I did not know this.
00:14:51
Marcus Ramtohul
That's because all the transfer news was Villa.
00:14:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's back to his Atlanta.
00:14:54
Louie Easton
Yeah, it literally was.
00:14:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
He was destroying it in the MLS before he moved to England.
00:14:58
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah.
00:14:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
i did At one point, he had a big impact in Newcastle, but yeah.
00:14:59
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah.
00:15:02
Louie Easton
Who was that guy that he used to do the um the celebration with as well? Do you remember who I'm talking about? I've forgotten who it is now.
00:15:09
Marcus Ramtohul
Oh.
00:15:09
Louie Easton
that I mean, yeah, he it's good that he's gone back to his... ah I always love it when a player goes back to the club that made them. um And that's why I was really happy to see Jota go back to Celtic.
00:15:21
Louie Easton
um ah good I mean, I think he'll probably find his form there again because he'll be made as their number one player again.
00:15:26
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah.
00:15:28
Louie Easton
So yeah, that that would be less pressure on Murphy as well.
00:15:29
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah.
00:15:30
Louie Easton
Now he can express himself comfortably.
00:15:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Exactly.
00:15:33
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah, and it's kind of, you know, we're seeing, I mean, ESAC's been in full more season, really, and the fans have made no secret about how much they want him to stay.
00:15:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:15:41
Marcus Ramtohul
um But Newcastle, okay, a little blip at home against Fulham, starting to find their feet. They've got a ah huge run of big games ahead of them across all competitions. But of all the teams you could face in the final, you talk about the atmosphere, Louis, the Magpies fans, they will bring some atmosphere.
00:16:00
Marcus Ramtohul
And I've
00:16:01
Louie Easton
They'll be drunk. They'll be very drunk.
00:16:04
Marcus Ramtohul
i have I have spoken enough on this podcast about whether or not this competition is worth the effort of any team involved, but I'm so excited to see a Newcastle Liverpool final.

Historic Thrillers and Game Highlights

00:16:15
Marcus Ramtohul
The atmosphere for anyone, neutral, Geordie, Liverpool, whoever is there, I think you're in for such a game.
00:16:23
Louie Easton
and have been There have been so many classics between Liverpool and Newcastle. You think about the Stan Collymore one ah when he scored the last one, and which unfortunately went on to give Manchester United the league. um and then there There you go, there's your bit of praise.
00:16:38
Louie Easton
um There was also the Fabio Carvalleo one where he scored in like the 97th minute in the last and the last second of the match basically. And there was the Darwin Nunez one which ah I just absolutely love that match.
00:16:52
Louie Easton
But he scored two goals and we owe her a man down because Van Dyke got sent off. Cinema, that one.
00:16:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
actually wish I could go to that final, but it would be kind of pathetic for me to the first game I watch in England to be Liverpool. So I'm going to wait for a different game for my first game in England.
00:17:08
Louie Easton
It's hard to- It'll be hard to get tickets anyway mate.
00:17:10
Marcus Ramtohul
Oh, yeah.
00:17:13
Louie Easton
I would love to get tickets myself.
00:17:13
Marcus Ramtohul
Speaking of Van Dyke being sent off, actually, I'm sure the Spurs fans will have a word about this early on in the game um against Richarlison. Bit of a tussle.
00:17:24
Marcus Ramtohul
I think he was a bit lucky not to get a card for that.
00:17:28
Louie Easton
ah ah ah then I know, I thought it was just a bit of a coming together, but what i my biggest takeaway of that was when Rasharlatan was getting back up, Van Dyke offered him a hand, Rasharlatan went to take his hand, Van Dyke took his hand away, jogged off.
00:17:38
Marcus Ramtohul
Yes.
00:17:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:17:45
Louie Easton
It was not a good day for Rasharlatan against Liverpool, went off injured as well, I hope he's alright.
00:17:49
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah, yeah, but he did start looking a bit lively. He looked like he was up for it. And it was weird because Spurs did start looking like they're up for it. And then, yeah, I think you're right, Louis, that the the crowd must have got to them.
00:18:01
Marcus Ramtohul
ah It's like Kinski just forgot how to catch a ball um for most of the game. um But I don't think
00:18:06
Louie Easton
yeah
00:18:10
Marcus Ramtohul
Liverpool will get in their head to the Newcastle players in the same way and ah and I think Eddie Howe is is a really good tactician and also you know if Newcastle win a bit of silverware wouldn't you know as a neutral

Newcastle's Trophy Drought and Fan Dedication

00:18:22
Louie Easton
yeah i don't think they've won silverware since yeah 1955
00:18:22
Marcus Ramtohul
I think that's what you want right?
00:18:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's been 70 years. It's been 70 years. Yeah.
00:18:28
Louie Easton
I mean, that would be amazing for Newcastle because it's like, when you look at how good they have been over the years, I mean, that team in the 90s with Asprea and Co.
00:18:40
Marcus Ramtohul
Oh, it's brilliant. yeah
00:18:41
Louie Easton
Yeah, that that was that that was a team that deserved to win at least something.
00:18:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
I love that guy.
00:18:46
Louie Easton
But no, 1955 was the last time they won anything.
00:18:50
Marcus Ramtohul
Wow.
00:18:51
Global Sports Podcast Network
That sounds scary.
00:18:51
Louie Easton
And, you know, with with a fan base that dedicated, you'd think they deserve something.
00:18:51
Marcus Ramtohul
Gosh.
00:18:56
Louie Easton
Just hopefully not against us.
00:18:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
okay
00:18:59
Louie Easton
I mean, this is their they they were got into the League Cup final a couple of years ago, didn't they? When Carius was in goal, because Nick the Pope was suspended, and what was his name?
00:19:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it was like two years ago.
00:19:10
Louie Easton
Dubravka was cup tied already, so he went back to so he was allowed to play, so Carius played, and to be fair, it wasn't actually that bad, but, you know, United were better, and that's one of the reasons I think 10-Hog probably should have kept his job in the end, but there we go.
00:19:13
Marcus Ramtohul
Yes. Yeah. yeah
00:19:20
Marcus Ramtohul
No.
00:19:27
Marcus Ramtohul
Oh, yes. Well, I did, I did ask Chris Mervin from the Spurs podcast yesterday, you know, what now is, is a good season for Spurs?

Defining Success for Tottenham and Manchester United

00:19:36
Marcus Ramtohul
What is the goal? As, as we have our illustrious host from overseas, the main United fan, ah this would have been a trophy. I think, you know, United fans would have been happy to have coming to the ta- tail end, not really the tail end, it's still February, coming to this part of the season. Just curious, you know, what is, what is the goal for a United fan? What's a good season look like come May?
00:19:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
I can tell you what's my goal, not to get a heart attack watching those clowns.
00:20:01
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:20:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
But Ben, I don't know. ill If we can take Europa League, that would be insane. But yeah, you know what? My dad texted me.
00:20:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
So my when Amorim took over and we I don't know what game we lost, it was like a loss of someone really badly and says, you guys should get relegated, and then you can build from start.
00:20:26
Louie Easton
and
00:20:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's going to be the perfect scenario for you guys. You deserve that. and if he's probably right
00:20:30
Marcus Ramtohul
Funny enough, you know ah Europa League, I don't think Europa League is out of out of the question for either Man United or Tottenham Hotspur because we did see a very weak side today, a lot of injuries, they're starting to come back and this is a team that tour Manchester City, a good Manchester City side apart. So, you know, maybe not all hope is lost for Tottenham fans.
00:20:54
Louie Easton
Yeah, I mean, there's.
00:20:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
I mean, you have nothing else to play for. That's the thing. You are in a position now where you can go for anything for next year for Europe.
00:20:57
Louie Easton
Yeah. and
00:21:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't think Tottenham or United is going to get to a position that's going to get them to Europe.
00:21:02
Louie Easton
And. Yeah.
00:21:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
So this is their route to get some to play somewhere.
00:21:08
Louie Easton
yeah And also, if they win the Europa League, they enter the Champions League for next season.
00:21:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. Yeah.
00:21:13
Louie Easton
And um I am just looking at the um the Newcastle title history, and actually they did win the Intertoto Cup in 2006, so that's the last bit of silverware they've won.
00:21:24
Marcus Ramtohul
Wow.
00:21:25
Louie Easton
They've won other things as well.
00:21:25
Marcus Ramtohul
Gosh.
00:21:26
Louie Easton
They won the Fairs Cup in 1969, they won the Texaco Cup, which I have never heard of ah in 74 and 75 consecutively, and the Anglo-Italian Cup in 1973.
00:21:40
Louie Easton
So, i mean ah you'll you'll never sing that, I believe, is what they'll be saying.
00:21:49
Marcus Ramtohul
we look We're laughing now. Hopefully we'll be laughing come Sunday the 16th of March.
00:21:49
Louie Easton
ah
00:21:51
Louie Easton
yeah yeah
00:21:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeahp
00:21:56
Marcus Ramtohul
But yeah, the ah again, I am the pessimistic Liverpool fan in the corner.
00:21:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Oh.
00:22:02
Marcus Ramtohul
I am worried about a fixture against Newcastle at Wembley, and I think they will be totally up for it, um and possibly not fighting on as many fronts, although probably not with the same squad depth that Liverpool have got.
00:22:15
Marcus Ramtohul
um So Victor, you've you've made a prediction, which I think is pretty close to what I would say. I think Newcastle will score first, and it will be ISAC. I do think the game will be done in 90 minutes though.
00:22:28
Marcus Ramtohul
um
00:22:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
Really? You think they're going to turn it in the second half?
00:22:31
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah and i think I think what we've seen a lot of this season is some smart management of of games and players where come 60th, 70th minute ring the changes and the depth and quality will will just overrun because also one of the things that happened today just
00:22:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
Two goals.
00:22:51
Marcus Ramtohul
I think Spurs ran out of legs because they just didn't have the ball for so long and they were being pressed over and over again and I feel like it's it's that tenacity that this this team has has got plus the depth that's going to make the difference over 90 minutes.
00:23:12
Louie Easton
I don't like making predictions.
00:23:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
I feel like Newcastle consists consistency is something like, you you see like they play good and then you they lose to Bournemouth for one. The same happened with Fulham when you get like super confident and then you the other team.
00:23:23
Marcus Ramtohul
Hmm.
00:23:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
But i mean again, it's it's a final.

Newcastle's Schedule and Final Preparations

00:23:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
They're obviously going to be focused, but it's also something that's new for them. Liverpool have been in this situation a lot of times in the last few years.
00:23:35
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah.
00:23:35
Louie Easton
Yeah, that's true.
00:23:36
Global Sports Podcast Network
So that's another thing. How are you going to adapt to that situation?
00:23:41
Louie Easton
angina dot gone sorry oh i mean ah yes
00:23:41
Marcus Ramtohul
And I'm i'm just.
00:23:43
Marcus Ramtohul
um just I was just glancing at at the upcoming fixtures apart from the FA Cup, away to Manchester City, hosting Nottingham Forest, a league game away, Anfield, Liverpool on the 26th of February, away to West Ham and then the Carabao Cup final. That is a lot for a team to take into a final and I'm curious how Eddie Howe is going to manage this squad because they're big games.
00:24:11
Louie Easton
I suppose you'll be looking as well to our match against Newcastle in the Premier League for an indication of how the final could go ah in terms of will it maybe be a test, ah like a sort of friendly even heading up to that match.
00:24:24
Marcus Ramtohul
Mmm.
00:24:25
Louie Easton
um trying out their tactics and yeah it it could be an exhibition ah in that respect even though Liverpool are going for the title and also that matches at Anfield at quarter past eight in the evening so that you get the feeling that that won't be a real resemblance of the atmosphere they'll be experiencing at Wembley Stadium.
00:24:51
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah, and I can imagine there'll be a lot of a lot more Newcastle fans at Wembley as well. and Although ah recent history amongst fans at Wembley has been there's been a lot of debate as to how comes there's so many tickets for Liverpool fans.
00:24:57
Louie Easton
yeah
00:25:02
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:25:05
Marcus Ramtohul
I don't know what what's going on and how these these tickets ah make their way more so to to the red half, but I'm not complaining.

Ticket Allocation Debate for Finals

00:25:15
Louie Easton
but Bigger club, that's it. That's your answer Marcus. That's the one you're looking for. Just too humble to say it. yeah
00:25:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, we can pretty much wrap it up here. I think we covered pretty much everything, unless you guys have anything else to say. and
00:25:36
Marcus Ramtohul
I mean, I think Liverpool said it all already. um and And I'll keep my pessimist hat on for the final. I i do hope for for a Liverpool result. But but also, you know wouldn't it be nice to see Newcastle lift a trophy?
00:25:52
Louie Easton
Don't say that.
00:25:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
no
00:25:53
Louie Easton
What kind of Liverpool fan are you?
00:25:56
Marcus Ramtohul
I'm trying ah try my best to be neutral.
00:25:56
Louie Easton
Absolutely disgraceful you should be ashamed of yourself.
00:25:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
I was going to say that.
00:25:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Listen, this is maybe a good good way to not get disappointed if you're ready for that.
00:26:04
Louie Easton
Yeah, no, because I'd be annoyed that it would be against us. I don't, ah like, listen, I'm a football fan. I i absolutely ah would love to see the smaller team, well, I'll say the smaller, smaller in comparison teams ah win something because it would give their fans ah happiness. And, you know, I'm all about that sort of, um what's the word, ah sentimental crap, but
00:26:32
Marcus Ramtohul
I am very sentimental.
00:26:33
Louie Easton
but I'm very sentimental as well, but, you know, it's Liverpool in a League Cup final. We're going for the quadruple.

Liverpool's Quadruple Quest Under New Management

00:26:40
Louie Easton
Let's just, let's just toss them out of the way and then have ourselves a lovely bit of silverware in slot's first Liverpool final.
00:26:48
Marcus Ramtohul
which Which would be amazing, yeah.
00:26:49
Louie Easton
That's what I want, which would be absolutely incredible.
00:26:50
Marcus Ramtohul
um But Louis, let me throw this out to you.
00:26:52
Louie Easton
And, you know, maybe a little, go on.
00:26:56
Marcus Ramtohul
Quadruple is on.
00:26:58
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:26:58
Marcus Ramtohul
But if it could only be one piece of silverware at the end of this season, what would you like Liverpool to to go home with?
00:27:10
Louie Easton
Hmm... Premier League, I think. Just because, I mean, ah listen, we've won the Champions League six times and each one has felt better than the last, even though I've only seen one because I'm that young, but...
00:27:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:27:21
Louie Easton
yeah But...
00:27:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
we've seen him for you
00:27:23
Marcus Ramtohul
yeah
00:27:23
Louie Easton
Yeah, thank thank you very much. but yeah You know, the the the Premier League is the one thing we haven't won in front of the fans and I think it's about time that we win that. um However,
00:27:34
Marcus Ramtohul
I agree.
00:27:35
Louie Easton
If it's the Champions League and we don't win the Premier League, I would take that. Not and saying I want that to happen because we're this far ahead in the Premier League and for us to slip, it would be horrific. And I also hate the word slip.
00:27:47
Louie Easton
I won't use that again.
00:27:47
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah.
00:27:48
Louie Easton
Let's move on. yeah
00:27:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
See, the the one thing is about about winning everything for this season would be, I would feel bad for Klopp because he is one of my favorite coaches.
00:27:56
Marcus Ramtohul
yeah
00:27:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
And imagine he left his team and now they win a quadruple. And it took him like how many years to just win one each Premier League and Champions League.
00:28:06
Louie Easton
Listen, he's still a Liverpool fan, so I don't think he would be too...
00:28:06
Global Sports Podcast Network
And this guy comes in with his team and wins all of it in one season.
00:28:13
Louie Easton
I mean, let's also think, would Klopp actually want to be in charge of Liverpool with ah with that job? Because, I mean, the amount of media attention Anna Slots got since he joined, I'm sure Klopp's looking at that and just like, you know what, I don't fancy that anymore.
00:28:31
Louie Easton
He said it himself, he was running out of energy for it, so, you know.
00:28:32
Marcus Ramtohul
Yeah.
00:28:35
Louie Easton
But, you know, if he wants to...
00:28:35
Marcus Ramtohul
Which is a brave, brave move. um And also I think...
00:28:38
Louie Easton
If he wants to come to the League Cup final, I'm sure Liverpool would be happy to have him there.
00:28:41
Marcus Ramtohul
Oh, yeah, for sure. And yeah, the interesting kind of part here about kind of Klopp and, you know, this team winning ah or potentially winning all those trophies is I don't think there's a Liverpool fan or neutral who doesn't understand where that team has been built and come from. Yes, slot has put his stamp on it and made it less injury prone and kicked it on and and brought players up who I didn't think were going to make it. But I think no one can deny that that team was built by Klopp, so um he can still hold his head up high um if the quadruple happens.
00:29:21
Louie Easton
It's like Shankly and Paisley and ah in that sense, isn't it?
00:29:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:29:24
Louie Easton
You know, Klopp built the team, Arnislott led them to greater success, while Klopp also had a success in his own right. So, i yeah.
00:29:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
The recruitment's been phenomenal for Liverpool, I gotta say that, compared to Man United.
00:29:34
Louie Easton
i
00:29:38
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't know who does our recruitment in Italy, who brought Xerxes and Hoyland and all these guys, it's just... I'm in pain just thinking about it.
00:29:48
Louie Easton
yeah
00:29:48
Marcus Ramtohul
and And I'm old enough to remember a time where I was in pain just watching Man United win everything.
00:29:56
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:29:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah. All right. Well, we can wrap it up here. I want to thank you both for joining me and obviously everyone else tuning in. Make sure you give us a like and subscribe before you go and we'll see you guys next time.
