Introduction to Google's AI Updates
00:00:05
danchez
Google is swinging for the fences and with a ton of different small but meaningful updates across their whole AI ecosystem. And it's starting to compound now because they have this whole ecosystem of apps and channels and workspace and all these things.
00:00:21
danchez
The integration between them is starting to become extremely useful and marketers are taking note.
Introducing 'Bot Bros' Segment
00:00:27
danchez
So welcome back to the Bot Bros, a segment of the AI Driven Marketer. I'm Dan Sanchez and joined by my brother, Travis Sanchez.
00:00:34
Travis
Could not be more happy to be here.
00:00:38
danchez
when we break down the AI news so that you don't have to into the most meaningful segments that marketers should be paying attention to on a week-to-week basis.
Focus on Google's Gemini and New Features
00:00:45
danchez
Today is going to be run by Google's Gemini because Google is making a bunch of different updates and there's a lot of news. Some of it's come from this week, some of it's come from weeks past, and it's finally time to catch up because Google's catching up.
00:01:00
danchez
In fact, they've been making a number of changes just to their everyday workspace. and They've gotten better at just Gemini. Have you been in Gemini recently?
00:01:10
Travis
I mean, i was using it yesterday on my phone, but I didn't notice anything different. So maybe there's been an update.
00:01:17
danchez
Somebody called me out and they're like, hey, Dan, you really need to go back and try Gemini and give it another fair swing. I was like, oh okay, okay. So I copied and pasted a whole custom GPT. It's like a whole set of instructions to turn this very episode into a newsletter, which if you don't know, i actually segment out this episode specifically so that it can be translated into a newsletter.
00:01:37
danchez
That's why there's multiple segments in this very podcast. It's a whole strategy I have to go from podcast to newsletter for this persist specific series. And i I was doing it in chat GPT.
00:01:48
danchez
And so I went and copied and pasted the custom GPT instructions and then just pasted them into what's called a Gemini gem, which is Google's version of a custom GPT.
00:01:59
danchez
So I paste them in there and then I just take the transcript and like usual, paste it into the gem this time. It comes up with the newsletter or at least most of newsletter. It always needs some edits, but this time it did remarkably better than chat GPT ever did.
00:02:14
danchez
And it was just better at recognizing where pieces of content went. It hallucinated less and was better at pulling together information. Because, you know, we'll we'll kind of wander sometimes. We'll cover this segment on Gemini, but then we might mention this other tidbit about Gemini down in the poll or something like that.
00:02:33
danchez
Well, Google's smart enough to see that there's some content there and then pull it up into the segment about Gemini. So it's not hallucinating. It's just taking kind of scattered thoughts and positions we've taken over the episode and then put it into a nice little neat chunk.
00:02:48
danchez
And it worked really well. But there's a number number of other little things that have come.
Reliability of Notebook LM for Learning Tasks
00:02:53
danchez
Have you used Notebook LM at all?
00:02:55
Travis
I mean, back when it first came out to experience experience the audio overview in this almost, I mean, at the time, perfect voices speaking about the subject.
00:02:57
danchez
For the audio overview?
00:03:06
Travis
I mean, it was just unreal. they've They've made it better, huh?
00:03:11
danchez
Yep, they've kind of overhauled the engine, so now it's just getting better. There's another thing people really like about using
00:03:21
danchez
Notebook LM, it's that it's limited to the information you give it. So if you're actually talking to it, like you would chat GPT, it will not pull information from its own knowledge base.
00:03:32
danchez
It will just pull from the information that you give it, which makes it a little bit more reliable. If you want to give it some company information or maybe some some learning resources that you want to learn from and you want to ask about it, it's not just going to pull it and then fill in the blanks.
00:03:45
danchez
It's only going to pull it. It's not very fun to talk to, but it's actually really good because it just pulls from the information it has.
00:03:52
danchez
Really good at summarizing things. And so they've made that a lot better and people are using it for that all the time as like a learning tool or a research or a summarizing tool of all kinds if you want to summarize a lot of data from all over the place.
Introduction of Free Vibe Coding Tools
00:04:05
danchez
Uh, they did, they just updated VO like their, their AI video. It renders faster, higher quality video, video generation.
00:04:13
danchez
it's, they did it like three, they went from three to 3.1. Cause they're like, it's just a little update, but it was noticeable. a lot of people really, really liking it. And then they added like, uh, you can now vibe code with Google.
00:04:25
danchez
Vibe coding tools have been blowing up over the last six, eight months. I remember when a really popular tool called Replit dropped a year ago and people use it to Vibe code. Essentially, Vibe coding is just saying, hey, I want to build an app that does X, Y, and Z, and then it goes and codes it for you.
00:04:39
danchez
And of course, it gets it wrong and then you fix it and you just you You essentially code through just telling it what you want.
00:04:45
danchez
But Google just dropped their own for free, which I'm like, man, they're going to destroy Replit and Lovable and all the other ones because everybody's kind of getting in this game now. It's kind of become part of the AI workspace because ChatGPT is building one. Cloud has one. Like everyone's going to be building their own app dedicated to just helping you code through AI.
00:05:05
danchez
But Google now has one, which is...
00:05:08
danchez
Awesome. I hope more and more people do it because I don't like paying for a lovable or repleter. I have paid for those. I just, I stopped paying for them recently. So just, you know, you get tired of paying for all these 20, $30 a month tools.
00:05:18
Travis
Oh, yeah. They're adding up quickly as I'm seeing across Grok, Gemini, chat.
00:05:24
Travis
I'm like, okay, this is going to be endless.
00:05:27
Travis
And if there is any new tool that comes out, of course, they're like, their marketing is decent. So you get halfway through signing up and they're like, oh, paywall. And you're like, ugh, it's annoying.
00:05:40
danchez
So now it's becoming Google's competitive advantage because they have so many apps in the ecosystem as they slowly pull them all in and integrate them and make them better and infuse
Competitive Advantage of Google's AI Ecosystem
00:05:48
danchez
AI into all of them. You're like, well, I mean, even Chrome. Chrome's widely used. Gemini's in Chrome, even though I was really excited for Atlas last week. And i' I've done like three videos on Atlas so far since it came out.
00:05:59
danchez
Uh, because I got really excited and I'm using it even now. I love that tool. but more and more Gemini is just kind of like reeling it in. It's like slow and steady. They're just kind of coming up over the horizon.
00:06:09
danchez
you know, you're like, Oh, jet GPT better keep running.
00:06:14
danchez
The giant waking up.
00:06:14
Travis
It's funny that even Grok released their video, upgraded video creation.
00:06:23
Travis
Because there's the combination of having a video with sound matching and the sound quality on Grok's new video.
00:06:32
Travis
Oh my gosh. It is so bad. It's like beginning of 2025 kind of technology. You know what I mean?
00:06:40
Travis
Just kidding. It was a joke. Like as if that's a long time ago.
00:06:44
danchez
i It's funny, Vio just got its overhaul of 3.1, but I did a side-by-side comparison test with Sora and Vio, and Sora blew it out of the water in the couple of tests I threw at it.
00:06:54
Travis
Okay. Yeah. I'm not surprised.
00:06:57
danchez
I gave it full scripts, scripts that were made to be like one minute, or not one minute, 10-second scripts. ChatGPT wrote the script. I gave it both to Sora and Vio, and Sora destroyed it multiple times.
00:07:12
danchez
that actually stuck to the script. VO o looked good, but it didn't. Sometimes it would just not have a voiceover at all or not have any camera changes, even though it was directed to have camera changes and Sora was hitting it out every time.
00:07:25
danchez
But yeah that's a short-term gain. VO will come back with VO for probably sometime before the end of the year.
00:07:33
danchez
And everybody goes, see, Google's so much better. And I'm like, hey, they go back and forth. But it's hard to deny that Google is making gains more quickly now.
00:07:44
danchez
all over the place. Even their Google Sheets is becoming more sophisticated where you can like, you know how you call in formulas, you know, equals formula. Well, now you can call in AI and it'll pull up and slice and dice and it can go and do web searches within the individual cells.
00:08:00
danchez
You're like, dang, imagine pulling in like a list of names and companies and be like, hey, give me a short description of this.
00:08:08
danchez
Go and find the person's job title. Who's this name at this company, go and do a quick web search and just pull in their job title right here.
00:08:15
danchez
you know, put, put the formula in once for AI to go find it based on this name, based on this company, and then just do a quick Google search. You'd be able to find it. And then just like drop that column down. That's amazing, right?
00:08:31
danchez
That's the kind of level of power that we have available. And most people don't even know that it's, it's in there now. I mean, this one's particularly is new for it to be able to do ai and search in there and think critically about what it's putting in there, but.
00:08:42
danchez
that's That's powerful. Man, it's going to take people a long time to catch up to how to use that, but Google, it's coming.
00:08:51
Travis
I, you mentioned Google sheets. I'm like, I don't know if I'm just using it wrong, but i had some data that I was trying to get Gemini to put into some cells. I'm like, I need to figure this out. Here's some data.
00:09:04
Travis
Start the Google sheet for me. You know, like create, I don't know what you're going to do. Create a CSV. I just need this to be in a column format with this information, bro.
00:09:15
Travis
It could not do it. And I'm like, am I, am I, am I going crazy? Like,
00:09:22
danchez
I don't know. Did you start in Gemini or did you start right in Sheets?
00:09:26
Travis
I started in Gemini and then I'm like, okay, let's just go.
00:09:28
danchez
Yeah. I don't know. Were using the pro model or the flash model?
00:09:32
Travis
I, I, I don't know. Pro. It says pro.
00:09:38
danchez
Yeah, but did you which model?
00:09:38
Travis
So then I go over to,
00:09:40
danchez
Even if you're a pro user, it doesn't mean you use the pro model.
00:09:45
Travis
I don't know what I was using.
00:09:46
danchez
Yeah, you'll have to check.
00:09:48
Travis
I'll have to check, but I was so frustrated.
00:09:49
danchez
Run it again. as flash Flash is like their lightweight model. That would totally screw up with that.
00:09:53
Travis
Oh, it was 2.5 flash.
00:09:54
Travis
Yeah. It looks like i was.
00:09:55
danchez
Yeah. try the two The Pro is a completely different animal. It's pretty good.
00:10:00
Travis
It's weird because I don't see pro as an option. Like I just see flash on there when I click the, I mean, it says pro up by my name.
00:10:04
danchez
you pay for Do you pay?
00:10:08
Travis
So I imagine I do.
00:10:10
danchez
Do you pay for it?
00:10:13
danchez
For Google? you have a Workspace account?
00:10:16
Travis
I mean, I have a work, Why does it say pro by my icon? Clearly I'm a pro.
00:10:21
danchez
don't know, bro. Everybody's naming conventions around these things sucks.
00:10:25
Travis
Anyways, I went to chat and plugged in the same prompt with the same information and it was like done. was like, okay, thank you.
00:10:30
danchez
Done. Anyway, I'll try it myself.
00:10:32
Travis
Side note, side note.
00:10:35
danchez
So that was kind of the
Revolutionary Updates in Google Workspace
00:10:36
danchez
news of the week. I just kind of rapid fired them. Google Workspaces upgrades, Notebook LM overhaul, VO 3.1. And of course, now they have their free Vibe Coding tool if you're into Vibe Coding your apps, which I swear, like I will be doing individual episodes on this because all marketers will be Vibe Coding eventually. That'll just be a thing.
00:10:55
danchez
But I think a lot of pb people who are even listening to this show, most of y'all will be Vibe Coding in 2026. Like it'll just be part of like normal AI use. And you'll be like, man, how did I live without code?
00:11:07
danchez
Being able to code my own applications before everybody will be coming up with lightweight applications.
00:11:12
danchez
Right now it's still kind of rough because the thing we all want is to essentially replace Zapier with our own workflows. Nobody wants to pay for Zapier.
00:11:19
danchez
Everybody just wants the vibe code that themselves.
00:11:22
danchez
Like, Hey, every time I drop a file in Google drive, I want X, Y, and Z to happen. And then for that final output to go into this thing system or whatever. Like everybody wants those types of tools and you don't want to have to like freaking engineer a Zapier to do it You just want to tell AI, this is what I want.
00:11:35
danchez
Here's where it is. Here's my API credentials, go. And then for it to just be done, you test it and it runs. But I'm pretty sure 2026, we will all be building a little lightweight applications like that on top of our bigger systems like HubSpot and HighLevel and Salesforce or whatever the heck we're using.
00:11:51
danchez
That's my prediction. We'll see if it comes to pass, but y'all get ready because you're all going to be coding soon. At least you'll be telling AI to code on your behalf.
00:12:00
danchez
Little lightweight stuff. If you want to do the big stuff, it's hard to do without actually knowing how to code. Like anything else, it's hard for AI to market for you if you don't know how to evaluate its marketing plan.
00:12:10
danchez
But a minute ago, I mentioned HighLevel. So it's a good segue into our sponsor for the show, which is HighLevel, my favorite CRM marketing automation platform because they put so much power into such a small package for so little money.
00:12:26
danchez
Freaking love it. And it scales well. I have put together a whole, I'm building a small library of AI automations that I've built in high level. You can get them for free at AIautomationvault.com.
00:12:40
danchez
If you sign up for a free trial of high level, you can actually test them out, play with them, see what you think of them. And if you don't like them, then unsubscribe from your trial. Otherwise, I highly recommend HighLevel to everybody.
00:12:52
danchez
I use it all day, every day to build out all my funnels, all my mark all my emails, CRM, all my, it takes money. You can send invoices, contracts, documents.
00:13:02
danchez
They have documents signed in there. I book all my meetings through it. It does it does everything. If it's not ChatGPT, generally it's HighLevels, like my second AI app of choice. So thank you, High Level, for sponsoring this. Go check it out at AIautomationvault.com. Or if you just want a free trial and don't want to deal with my automations, you can just go to danchez.com slash High Level.
00:13:23
danchez
Cool. Moving on to the poll of the week. I asked everybody in my...
00:13:30
danchez
And the results were really fun. I found that a lot of people were using Google.
00:13:38
danchez
So here were the results of the poll. At 34%, 34% said multiple times a day.
00:13:47
danchez
18% said daily. 16%, which is where I'm at, said weekly. And then 32% said monthly or less. So that means 68% are using it at least weekly.
00:14:01
danchez
If not, what is this? Let's see, 34 18... thirty four plus eighteen which brings it to a well over, fifty what, 53? I'm struggling to do the math live.
00:14:14
danchez
But well over 50% are using it daily.
00:14:19
danchez
That's nuts. It actually lines up really well with the report we just did for Social Media Examiner
00:14:29
danchez
where we interviewed a or
00:14:34
danchez
where we did a survey of 700 plus marketers. And we found when we gave them multiple choices to be able to select which AI tool they're using the most, of course, ChatGPT came first. But because we let them select multiple options, I think and in this report, I believe it was 54% of people said they were using Google's AI tools. so So that lines up perfectly with that. It's like over just over 50% of people are using Google AI tools on a daily basis.
Google vs ChatGPT: Competitive Dynamics
00:15:00
danchez
So Google's... Up and coming, we'll see how long ChatGPT can hold the lead. Though they're still making splashes themselves with their own browser, with Sora, and how everybody's loved making stuff with that.
00:15:15
danchez
How long? Maybe we make some predictions right now. How long do you think ChatGPT will hold the lead? Indefinitely? or do you think Google will overtake them?
00:15:26
Travis
Dang, that's a question I haven't even pondered. Like, will ChatGPT become... I don't know. Because if Google starts overtaking ChatGPT, yeah, what's goingnna what's that going to turn into? Is it going to turn into like the blockbuster and Google starts becoming the Netflix of AI?
00:15:48
Travis
But I don't know if they'd disappear that quickly. I mean, they're so innovative.
00:15:51
Travis
They've been ahead. Google just has the advantage of so much experience in the tech world and tech game for so long. Recognizable i mean brand recognition. Probably great developers. I don't know.
00:16:08
Travis
And there's all these other people just trying to catch up like Facebook and Amazon. and No one's talked about Microsoft in a hot minute.
00:16:16
danchez
Microsoft's still like one of the most valuable companies in the world. Top two? Top three? Somewhere in there.
00:16:21
Travis
Right. But no one's talking about their AI integration.
00:16:26
danchez
No, but they're selling a ton of AI more than most are. So, because they've been getting ChatGPT and sticking it into their office product.
00:16:34
Travis
I, I feel like, I feel like if chat GPT continues on their trajectory of innovation and growth, they'll stay top the one or two at least.
00:16:47
danchez
Yeah, because who's, after Google and ChatGPT, who's even close? Anthropic? It's kind of a, not, I mean, ChatGPT and Gemini are going to be neck and neck eventually.
00:17:01
danchez
Anthropic, I'm like, eh, they'll kind of always be a third. And eventually, they'll all be so good at writing that no, but the copywriters won't even care anymore.
00:17:10
danchez
Like, okay. Like, we like it because the codes are, like, it's like, that yeah, but they're all going to be really good at that code and
00:17:16
danchez
if like If you're leaning on it for that, this or that, then it really but does become about ecosystem and Chad GPG is pushing hard on building ecosystem right now.
00:17:25
danchez
Google already has it and just needs to grow into it. I think between the two of them, both of them have to, like both the risk of them not getting there, like is an internal thing.
00:17:36
danchez
Like who can actually stay focused and hungry and keep working hard where Google has slacked off in recent years. And I think they're now starting to get back to it. But like, it's been a joke.
00:17:46
danchez
Even as I work in the tech community, people are like, oh yeah, like if you send an email to someone at Google, like good luck getting back, hearing back from them in the day or the next day.
00:17:54
danchez
probably end of the week, they might get back to you because they've just gotten soft. You know what I'm saying?
00:17:59
danchez
and despite I mean, I have a lot of employees, but they've just gotten soft, work-life balance, work a couple hours a week day. And of course, every department's a little different. It's big company. But they've gotten soft generally compared to something like NVIDIA where they go hard and stay hard because their founder's nuts.
00:18:15
danchez
That's why they have the most amount of, they have the most value per employee, I think is like their claim to fame.
00:18:21
danchez
They make the most amount of money per employee. where OpenAI and Google, Google's big, fat and happy. But if they don't, if they're not able to bridge the model they had before, which makes all the money, which is Google AdWords, of course, or Google ads or whatever we call it now. If they don't make, if they don't figure out how to monetize, what if they come up with ai and they lead the way, but it's not, it doesn't quite have the same amount of margin as the ad business they used to have once did.
00:18:48
danchez
Well, makes it hard to stay as competitive as they are. Right. There's a reason why they're so competitive now is they make so much freaking money on ads. What happens when people just, just don't click on ads as much anymore because chat GPT is so good at answering questions.
00:19:02
danchez
Like they sneak ads into it, but they sneak too many ads into it.
00:19:07
danchez
People just jump back to open AI where maybe they don't have to be as desperate, you know? So, and then open AI is its own mess with its own government. Like they just switched from a nonprofit to a but public benefit corporation in order to take a step towards being public.
00:19:23
danchez
Some people are calling it the greatest scam of all time because they raised a ton of money as a nonprofit. now they're going to switch to for-profit and make a bunch of money.
00:19:31
danchez
That's the drama of OpenAI. OpenAI has got its own craziness and criticism and dumb and dark stuff they've done to go get to where they are. Google has too. Neither company is innocent.
00:19:42
danchez
But it'll bit depend on which one actually can actually maintain the top talent, stay focused, ship stuff regularly.
Future Implications of Google's Quantum Computing
00:19:50
danchez
Whichever one does that and somehow finds the business model to stay alive will be the one that wins. I don't know which one it's going to be though. I think it's honestly a toss up between the two of them. I could see where open AI can come and disrupt Google, but Google's got other things firing too. Like they got, they're working on quantum computers.
00:20:07
danchez
Open AI is not working on quantum computers. That might be a big unlock, like five years from now for AI that we didn't know about.
00:20:11
Travis
Right. Yeah, that'd be wild.
00:20:14
danchez
Don't know. Futures, futures a toss up. Anthropics looking like they won't be in the top one for sure, but they're, they're pretty good at being number three.
00:20:24
Travis
I've not heard of any person that I've talked to face to face talk about anthropic.
00:20:29
danchez
I guess X is in there too, right? XAI. So Grok is in the game.
00:20:33
Travis
I've heard people talk about Grok and using it, but most the time it's just chat.
00:20:38
danchez
Yeah, my communities, Grok never gets mentioned. But I'm also talking to tech communities and they hate Elon.
00:20:46
danchez
So they're anti-Grok.
00:20:49
danchez
So if you would like to learn more about this, of course, you can do any of the polls. Connect with me on LinkedIn at linkedin.com slash IN slash digital marketing Dan. Or if you want access to the Social Media Examiner report, you can go to socialmediaexaminer.com slash AI report 2025. All one word, lowercase.
00:21:06
danchez
They finally gave me a short yeah URL to make it easier. Socialmediaexaminer.com slash AI report 2025. Probably the most comprehensive survey report on AI in marketing that I've seen right now.
00:21:19
danchez
And of course, this data is only good for so long. So come and get it, digest it, ask ChatGPT about it, how it applies to your business. Be a good report to to take a look at.
00:21:31
danchez
Moving on to our next segment, we need to talk about the viral post of the week.
Creative Marketing: AI in Action
00:21:36
danchez
I found this on LinkedIn and I just keep seeing more and more people just getting creative with AI video.
00:21:42
danchez
I'm pretty sure this one was created with VO3, but it was so creative. It's Sixth Car Rental Company, which I haven't like six. I'm like, do I know about this car company?
00:21:50
Travis
It's huge in Israel.
00:21:51
danchez
Huge in Israel? Okay.
00:21:53
danchez
So big car rental company, they took some of their competitors' horror stories that people wrote reviews on and then turned them into horror movies.
00:22:02

So yeah, using AI. So it's there's no people talking in the video. it' that What they do is they just hired a voice actor to like dramatically and slowly read the review word for word with the right pauses and intonation.

And this one was talking about how someone brought the car home, but it was infested with roaches. so all the roaches came out of the car, but they read it slowly and dramatically so that they're like, and I came home.

And what I didn't expect next was that it was raided or filled with bugs. And slowly it's like horror movie. And these bugs come out of the car. And they're like huge monsters, like, like, you know, the size of a horse.

I sent my husband and to kill him, he's coming in with a chainsaw. It's like very AI drama dramatic, but like AI can hit those shots. And because most videos, you know, you don't need more than a few seconds of clips per per shot.
00:22:54
danchez
you can get all the shots, have some continuity between the characters. And they're just like dramatizing their, their competitors, bad reviews, making it into horror movies right in time for Halloween.
00:23:00
Travis
Oh yeah, it's dramatizing. All right.
