00:00:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
And in part three, we'll round up the episode with some transfer speculation doing the rounds.
Team Dynamics: Hosts' Interaction
00:00:49
Global Sports Podcast Network
Joining me to talk about all of that and more is my regular midfield partner, Connor Moore.
00:00:56
Global Sports Podcast Network
We're like the double pivot of the daily Liverpool.
00:00:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
What do you reckon?
00:01:00
Connor
I'm okay with that. We've got one aggressive one and one controller. I won't tell you who's who. But I'm...
00:01:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
You're clearly the aggressive one, right?
00:01:06
Connor
Okay, okay, okay. I thought that was going to be the way. But you know, you'd be surprised. I've got got a nice little touch. I've got a nice little touch. But yeah, how are you, Jesse? I'm good, man.
00:01:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
All right, yeah, not too bad.
00:01:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Not too bad. It's been a it's been a good week. Another another three points in the Champions League. And it looks like that's, you know, maybe maybe done and dusted, hopefully, fingers
Champions League Reflections: Complacency Issues
00:01:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
crossed.
00:01:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
But let's talk about that before we go into the following game. You know, that that game was a lot closer than I expected. I thought your owner were pretty decent. They made a really good fist of that game.
00:01:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
What did you make a Liverpool's performance on Tuesday night?
00:01:44
Connor
Kind of worryingly, I thought we were a bit, we just didn't really look like we wanted to be there. And I don't know if this is a bit, if it's overstating it too much, but sometimes I think when Liverpool know they're expected to beat a team or like when the, so if you if you take into consideration the context of the group or the not the group, but the league table and and where Liverpool are points-wise in the Champions League. I think you kind of always thought it doesn't really this game doesn't really matter what Liverpool are already kind of through. And I almost felt like you could see that on the pitch. I thought Liverpool were...
00:02:20
Connor
it's kind of worrying me that how the last two games we're talking about new castle and this game very different games but we didn't really in terms of like the jewels and the tackles and the aggression it just wasn't there which is a bit strange to see but listen it doesn't really matter we got the win we're definitely through now And hopefully that means that looking forward, which we tend to do on this podcast, the rest of the Champions League games are just going to be opportunities to rest players, to get people's minutes up.
Coach Criticisms: Nunes' Missed Chances
00:02:49
Connor
Definitely please give Ryan Grabenberts a rest. give Endo some minutes. He deserves it. So yeah, you know what, it was a pretty, not a very comfortable one nil win, but I thought it was kind of deserved in the end.
00:03:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
slot was not happy post match. I think that's the, it's the most critical I've seen him towards the team.
00:03:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
just not impressed by the performance, which, you know, it's a good thing. You know, the he's obviously got very, very high standards.
00:03:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't know if you, if you saw his comments, regarding Nunes, which I thought really interesting.
00:03:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Again, no kind of sugar coating. I think, If that was Jurgen Klopp, he'd be โ well, look, you know he you know he was a threat in other ways. you know he you know He harried the defence and he created chances. But the journalist asked Slop, you know look, he's missed his chances, missed quite a few chances. He agreed.
00:03:47
Global Sports Podcast Network
He just said, yeah, you know, he, he wasted a few chances and it was, he said it was a and something like, he I'm going to paraphrase, but it was, you know, it was a good job that we've got Mo who can finish, which pretty damning.
00:04:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
If you're a striking, you're listening to that.
00:04:04
Connor
It is, and I kind of think how you talked about how Klopp would have broken this down is very much how the fans still talk about Nunes. We always praise his is off-the-ball work.
00:04:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
Attack Analysis: Nunes and Jota
00:04:14
Connor
And I think Liverpool, especially last season and the start of this season, when they were kind of trying to figure things out under slot and also when the Klopp bureau was coming to the end, I think Liverpool look more dangerous as a team when Nunes is in because he causes so many problems for the defenders.
00:04:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:04:29
Connor
but also now that we've seen Jota get a run of games at the start of the season and he scored a few goals and Yeah, I'm not one of his biggest fans, but I love his end product I think he's a fantastic finisher and he can kind of do it all Diogo Jota It does make me think like how different would of those games been especially games like the Newcastle one if we just had Jota even if it was just for like 45 minutes because You know
00:04:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
He puts away one of those differences.
00:04:56
Connor
He puts away one of them. I keep thinking about that one that comes to Nunes's left foot within the box, maybe like seven, eight yards out ah away at Newcastle. And he just fluffs it wide. And you think like, you know, it's it's now year three of the Darwin Nunes at Liverpool project. And I think fans, I don't want to say it, but myself included are kind of starting to think like, you know, you've got to start performing or else I don't know.
00:05:20
Connor
You you see Liverpool linked with a lot of strikers just but despite the fact that we've got issues in other places and we're a bit like elsewhere. And it's no, you know, there's a reason why that's happened, I think.
00:05:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:05:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
Exactly. Yeah, agreed.
Goalkeeper Strategy: Alisson's Role
00:05:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
Good to see Alison back though.
00:05:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
Alison back in goal, which I think was the right decision.
00:05:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
I think we we had a preview program early in the week and and we were split two and two myself and ah ah Tom Gower were adamant that Alison comes back in.
00:05:53
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I agree with that decision, because I just think that it's not just his goalkeeping, I think it's his presence as well.
00:05:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
his presence in that back four, you know, he is one of the leaders, he is one of our captains on that field of play. And so I think just, just having him on the pitch, I think is just a massive boost for us. Bearing in mind that we've We do have some significant injuries in that back line.
00:06:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
And as well as Keleher has done, he's not Alison.
00:06:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
and So I think it was really good for him to be back. But so as Slott said, he was probably hoping not to be as busy as he was on Tuesday night.
00:06:32
Connor
Yeah, and I think he kind of, in typical Alison fashion, he bailed us out a few times. And I liked, I thought Slots comments were funny, but there is a little bit of like, there's a little bit of needle in that being like, you know, this is meant to be a, I mean, credit is your own. I know they're not doing amazing this year in the league, and they've replaced quite a lot of that team that did so well last year. They got quite a lot of new faces, but like, they caused us so many problems at times.
00:06:58
Connor
And I actually thought full back wise, we just, I think Trent just didn't have a good, I think he didn't really know where to go with Gutierrez when he dropped into midfield or when he overlapped. And it was just, it was a bit of a, it was a bit of an ugly game from the reporter's point of view. And thankfully we had someone like Alison to just get us through it. And obviously someone like Mo Salah to score the goal that got us through. So yeah.
00:07:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
and Another thing I notice, it looks like he's leaned down in the last couple of months. I listen, I don't know if you noticed that.
00:07:26
Connor
Yeah, he's always kind of been like, like he could have been like a ah GQ man of the year looking guy, you know, but he looked really good with his little stubble and stuff.
00:07:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
you know
00:07:35
Connor
I thought, yeah, this this guy keep him around forever. He's that he's the man.
00:07:41
Global Sports Podcast Network
All right, enough of the Alice in Loving. Let's get into some Fulham talk.
Fulham's Form: Under Marco Silva
00:07:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
They're the visitors to Anfield on Saturday. It's a 3pm kickoff UK time. That's 10am Eastern Standard Time. They're in 10th place in the Premier League. And for me, yeah they they have been one of the stories of this, you know, early part of the season.
00:08:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know, I really like Marco Silva. I think he's a really good manager. And, you know, he's really kind of found his feet at Fulham. He's kind of assembled a really good, solid set of players there, you know, look what he's done with Alex Oobi. You know, he was at Everton before, under Sean Dyche.
00:08:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
It looks like he's been released from prison now. you know he's He's playing that well. what do you What do you think of the of the job that Silva has done there and how Fulham are playing this season?
00:08:36
Connor
I think I'm not surprised, but I also am. I feel like because what what I'm surprised about, first of all, is the players that have come in this season, specifically Emil Smith Rowe from Arsenal. I just think he's been he's been phenomenal. And like he is kind of that, I don't know, that like diet version of Martin Odegard for that team, you know. And I think he's a player that Arsenal could have done with during that that injury crisis that plagued that team for so long. Like we've been led to believe, but i I really think there's just something about Fulham where they don't make it easy.
00:09:09
Connor
I mean, listen, we we talk a lot about ah but you're just staying for Gary O'Neill, but wolves beat them 4-1, okay? So they do have their off days.
00:09:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
That's a fluke.
00:09:19
Global Sports Podcast Network
It was obviously a fluke. It was a fluke.
00:09:21
Connor
And you know what, when you look at their results this season, I think it's six wins, five draws, four losses. So they're kind of all over the place really, but but in the wins and even in some of the draws where they've been unlucky, I think they're really convincing. I thought they were fantastic against Arsenal and I watched them in the a game against Brighton just before that and I thought they were like,
00:09:42
Connor
they they just That was a proper game, like really, really tactically interesting too. And they've got a lot of problems, whether it's from the full backs, whether it's from set pieces.
Match Expectations: Strategic Surprises?
00:09:52
Connor
I think their midfield is really nice and combative. You think like they had to replace Zhao Poligno, he went to Bayern Munich, and I think they've done it quite well. And also, I think when it comes to attacking options,
00:10:04
Connor
They've got problems, especially off the bench, especially against tired legs that I'm sure we'll talk about. I think we're in for a pretty, hopefully, a pretty exciting game, but it should be one that Liverpool get the three points in.
00:10:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Well, if it's anything like it was last season, that was a 4-3.
00:10:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
And you know again, they played really well, Fulham.
00:10:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
And it'll be interesting to see whether, you know, because that was obviously a clock team last season.
00:10:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
And we'll see whether this season they have as much space and freedom to hurt us. I mean, they scored three goals at Anfield. You score three goals at Anfield, you you expect to come away with something.
00:10:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
But they've only lost one of the last six away games. That was a 3-2 defeat at Man City. And even in that game, they were very unlucky to come away from that game empty handed, empty handed at the empty head.
00:10:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know, that they had some really, really good chances to score.
00:11:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I think you're right. I think this could be an entertaining game. The games that they've lost, you know, they were against very good teams, Manchester clubs, Aston Villa, you know, but they're coming off a very good point against Arsenal.
00:11:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
for us, how do we approach this game? you know is it Is it just the same, you know just kind of control possession, don't go too gung-ho and maybe try and get a 2-0 and close the game out? Or does some of the absences change that first slot in terms of how he approaches this game?
00:11:42
Connor
I think the approach will be the same but I'm not sure the outcome will be and I think a big part of that. We kind of haven't really talked about him too much but it's kind of been like the elephant in the room almost is that one of our players of the season, the Ibrahimakanate, isn't fit at the minute and I think you can look a lot more controlled than it has. I think Liverpool look a lot more controlled than they have been because of the kind of, you know, ah ah man-mounted at the back that is Abraham Canate in that team. I think he's been fantastic. And then if you think of those games, Liverpool have won 2-0 or 1-0, and they've kind of made it look a little bit easier. The score line might suggest it was easy. Canate's always had those big blocks and made big moments, you know, I mean, decisive tackles in the final third. And I'm not too sure if, even if Liverpool were to come away and win 2-0 from this game, would it look as convincing? I'm i'm not sure about that.
00:12:34
Connor
But I think Slott's approach is still going to be, you know, it's that kind of counter box thing that he has at the minute, where the first half is very much like keeping you at the end of the jab, figuring out what they're going to throw, you know, throw our way, and then figuring out how to counter that. And if we get an early goal, then fantastic if we don't.
00:12:52
Connor
no pressure, because at the minute it seems to be that we're a second half team, every commentator is telling us that for some reason, that we score all our goals in the second
00:12:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:13:00
Connor
I think it'll be interesting, I mean we'll get to score predictions much later on, but I think it's going to be a fun one, maybe for people who don't support Liverpool or Fulham, but I don't know, I don't know, I think it should, ideally it'll be a lot more controlled, but we are missing certain players that might that might make it, that would have made it easier for us, should I say.
00:13:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it's so it's a three o'clock kickoff. So we do need to get the points on the board early because Chelsea are just four points behind us now. I know that we've got that game in hand.
00:13:34
Global Sports Podcast Network
if if we look at some of the other fixtures, Arsenal are at home to Everton. That's basically three points for Arsenal against the Sean Dyche disaster class.
00:13:45
Global Sports Podcast Network
I can predict that quite quite confidently, I think. Man City are at home in the Manchester Derby. I mean, City again, they they lost in the Champions League against Juventus.
00:13:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Against quite convincingly.
00:14:01
Connor
Yeah. I didn't, I didn't, I didn't watch it, but I, yeah, I didn't watch it, but I saw the the highlights and for what I've read as well.
00:14:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
So, it's one winning ten.
00:14:09
Connor
It didn't really look like they were at the races again.
00:14:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
They just look very out of sorts, very out of sorts.
00:14:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
And, you know, as I said, that's one winning ten.
00:14:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
Manchester United aren't doing that great either, but I think surely they must sense that if ever there was going to be a time that they could go to City and get points, it's going to be in this game.
00:14:35
Connor
you'd you'd think so but also if you look at the issues with Man City I think it's very much the same kind of thing that happens in Liverpool where the midfield just runs out of legs and the one thing that you've been criticising this Man United midfield for for the past two three years is that there aren't any legs in there so it's either going to be one of the most exhilarating games or one of the most boring kind of like walking football I think is what what you can expect I mean I could drink that who knows I don't really mind what the result is in this game but But it does seem like it kind of seems like it's going to be one of those nasty bar fights of a game. You know, it's going to be a bit sloppy, a bit messy, and we'll see who comes out the winner.
00:15:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
Sounds entertaining. Chelsea at home to Brentford.
00:15:18
Connor
Three points for Chelsea.
00:15:18
Global Sports Podcast Network
What do you think so?
00:15:19
Connor
Yeah. Brentford just don't win away from home. They just don't.
00:15:23
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:15:23
Connor
I actually think they've lost every away game this season and Chelsea just have so many options. I know they play Europa League midweek and it's away in Astana, I think.
00:15:32
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's a completely different team, you pick so.
00:15:33
Connor
and some really Exactly. it's It's literally a different 11 players, so so yeah.
00:15:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay, we'll see what happens. Time to go to a quick break and we'll be back after this short message.
00:16:20
Global Sports Podcast Network
welcome back.
Liverpool's Lineup Predictions: Key Players
00:16:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Let's get into some predictions. We'll start with the predicted lineup. Alison's got to be back in goal, right? That's him back now in the Premier League.
00:16:32
Connor
Yeah, I think so. I think the the back four kind of picks itself again. I also think if you're looking at like, I dunno where, where Alison gets rested because he's just been back from quite a lengthy injury and where Kelleher plays because he's obviously done quite well in Alison's, absence. I think it looks pretty clear on the fixture list. You know, this is an Alison game. Kelleher's games are pretty apparent down the line. Yeah. I would go with Alison pretty comfortably.
00:17:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
And the back four, as you said, it pits itself because, you know, because of the injuries and, uh, that is a bit of a concern because you just think we're just one injury away from a real issue in that back line.
00:17:15
Connor
Yeah, I think so. And I think even if, if one of Canate or one of Simicast was injured, you could manage it, but having both of them, you're just asking those players to go and go and like, I don't know, even if you look at the bench midweek, there wasn't a deputy left, but I don't even think there was a youth left back on the bench. So you think like, it's a position of a bit of, it's a bit of a concern for fans of Liverpool and also probably for Ernest Lott and his coaching staff.
00:17:42
Connor
But for me, Fulham at home, it's a kind of game that might have been easy two years ago, three years ago, but it there definitely isn't now. So you need your experience in there. I would go Robertson, Van Dyke, Conate, Trent from left to right, obviously.
00:17:58
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:17:59
Connor
Conate, I said Conate.
00:17:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:18:00
Connor
I think I mean Joe Gomez.
00:18:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Trent Gomez. Yeah. Gomez. Yeah. It'd be interesting to see Kanate playing in that game tomorrow.
00:18:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
It's a, yeah, Trent Gomez, Van Dyke and Robertson. So if we go into midfield, McAllister is suspended for this game. And so it looks like Gravenberg will have to play again.
00:18:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
And then what we're looking at are Jones as, as his double pivot partner in that midfield.
00:18:28
Connor
Yeah, I think so. And I just think those two kind of have a nice, they have a nice relationship together on the pitch. I think we've talked a little bit about how the RuPaul's midfield isn't really yeah Like a 2-1 or isn't really a 1-2 in terms of that triangle It's kind of almost like staggered upwards in a kind of zigzag pattern and I think Jones is really good in that left channel So I think that kind of comes to him naturally.
00:18:50
Connor
He can drop deep. He's really good on the ball I think against Girona you saw a little bit of his What slot called his overconfidence on the ball or he takes too many touches. You saw that a few times You can't you don't get that against Fulham.
00:19:00
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:19:01
Connor
So I would have Jones in and I think ahead of him <unk> It's got to be Subbasili, right?
00:19:07
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, because I'm thinking I'm looking ahead to next or the midweek game in the League Cup, the Carabao Cup against Southampton, which I would think that slot then gives Elliot his run out and say, look, here's 60 minutes.
00:19:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
let's let's see how how long you last and then come on with know uh Sir Bosley or someone if if needed but I think Gravenberg-Jones Sir Bosley is going to be the preferred midfield and then if we go up top
00:19:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
Jota and Kiesa may be in the match squad. They may be in the match day squad. Jota I think would be a massive boost for us if he's back.
00:19:54
Global Sports Podcast Network
And Kiesa is just, come on mate, just get on the pitch.
00:19:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
you know i mean he He was fit and then he but he was ill for some reason. So we're just hoping that he can get a run of games now because just to give Salah a break on that on that right side, particularly with some of the games like the League Cup coming up, it would be just a great option to have.
00:20:22
Connor
I think that you might see, I think midweek against Southampton might be a bit too soon, especially for like a start. But I think you could see someone like Tsubozlai play. that I know he's played quite a few games now, and we both have him in to start this game. But I think you've kind of seen Tsubozlai, especially like end of the game when Sola has been subbed off. You've seen him kind of operate on that right hand side.
00:20:43
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:20:44
Connor
and I think he's got a really good relationship with Trent too on that side too so it would be quite nice to see what that looks like but you're so right it would be lovely to have well first of all it'd be lovely to have Kiye as a fit at all I think he's getting there and I think it's so important because
00:20:44
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah
00:20:59
Connor
December and January are like just packed with fixtures and also quite a lot of cup games too. It'd be good to get his minutes up that maybe like end of the month you see him start a game where where we need him to or Andrata specifically like he would be such a bonus having him come back hopefully fully fit.
00:21:08
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, yeah.
00:21:17
Connor
But neither of them, for obvious reasons, make my starting three. I've gone for, and I don't know why I've gone for this, I've gone for Salah on the right, Diaz on the left, and Nunez up top again.
00:21:30
Connor
I think the slot comments after the game against Sharona kind of allude to the fact that he needs to start scoring.
00:21:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
Right.
00:21:38
Connor
Jot is coming back, he's not fit yet. You know, this is your chance. Prove yourself because you haven't done it so far in the last eight or nine games that Jot has been out. You know, time is running out for Darwin Nunez. And this could be a game where he bruised himself. What have what have you gone for?
00:21:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm just wondering whether he goes for Salah Diaz down the middle and Gatpo on the left.
00:22:02
Connor
I think probably. I think probably.
00:22:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
The reason why is that I think just almost as a pointer to next Wednesday and and saying to Nunes, listen mate, you've had a run.
00:22:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
yeah You're in the Carabao Cup now on Wednesday.
00:22:18
Connor
Yeah, you're playing Southampton. You know, score a goal.
00:22:21
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, right. Yeah, score a goal.
00:22:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
So I'm thinking that that could that could be what slot is thinking. um And then obviously giving jotter some minutes as well to get him back up to speed as well.
00:22:39
Global Sports Podcast Network
But what's your score prediction? You know, I'm going to go for a 1-0, Liverpool. I think it's going to be a good game, but I think it's going to be quite close.
00:22:50
Global Sports Podcast Network
And I think it's going to be quite nervy.
00:22:54
Connor
Yeah. Well, we, we, how are you?
00:22:55
Global Sports Podcast Network
I'm going to the game by the way. So I'm, I'm, yeah I'm going to the game and it's, uh, I haven't been to a 3PM kickoff for a while.
00:23:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
so I'm, I'm expecting, I'm expecting a nervous, a nervous 90 minutes.

Yeah, I feel like 3 p.m. games normally feel a bit cagey. They're a strange time because you don't really know, you know, you've got to get to the ground pretty early. You don't really know what the the atmosphere is like.
00:23:21
Connor
And it's going to be a cold one as well as someone who lives in Liverpool, you know, wrap up Jesse, because it's horrible here at the minute.
00:23:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
will
00:23:29
Connor
Score prediction, you went for a 1-0. I think that's interesting, especially when you look at I don't know, i like we kind of talked off off recording it. I'm kind of blagging it today a little bit.
00:23:40
Connor
hope my boss isn't listening. But I have looked a little bit at some of the statistics and if you look at it, Fulham tend to concede, I think it's like 1.3 expected goals a game and they tend to score, I think it's like 1.5 or something.
00:23:48
Global Sports Podcast Network
I will.
00:23:55
Connor
So that would that you'd think there'd be goals in there. I think Liverpool win this 3-1. I think I've predicted 3-1 several times on this podcast and it's not come in. So I'm also due one. I'm going to go 3-1 Liverpool.

Well, midweek for the for the Champions League, we were predicting fours and fives and six. And and so um i'm I'm going the complete opposite way now and and and going for a one and hoping that we we score five.

Okay, we're going to go for another break and we'll be back after this very short message.
Transfer Rumors: Joao Pedro Linked to Liverpool
00:25:05
Global Sports Podcast Network
welcome back. Let's wrap things up now with a bit of transfer speculation. Liverpool have been linked with a move with Brighton's Jau Pedro, 23 year old is Brazilian. He's played 49 Premier League matches for Brighton, scoring 26 and chipping in with six assists. So more of an out and out goal scorer.
00:25:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
He just looks like a player that slot could really work and mould into a a top striker.
00:25:35
Connor
Yeah, i I would love Ciao Pedro at Liverpool.
00:25:35
Global Sports Podcast Network
but What are your thoughts on this? Would you be happy with Pedro?
00:25:42
Connor
It's funny, I've got a few friends who listen to this and they're in some of the group chats I mention often. And i I think if you looked at those group chats, the amount of times I mentioned Ciao Pedro is probably criminal. I love him. I think he can kind of do everything.
00:25:53
Connor
he He's a good striker, but you can he can drop him a little bit deeper. He can kind of play on the left and the right like he did for Watford. I just think I think it's nice when he drops deep and picks the ball up.
00:26:04
Connor
He's really comfortable on the ball. I think he plays with players around him really well. And like you said, he's a one and two goal scorer. He can provide assists.
00:26:15
Connor
He's got flair. He's Brazilian. He's 23, which is the perfect age bracket. But I just think the chances of Liverpool signing someone from Brighton and not getting ripped off are probably but you know pretty high because that's what they do.
00:26:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
You did pretty well with your calendar.
00:26:30
Connor
We did, we did, but McCullough's had a release clause and I'm pretty sure Joe Pedro doesn't. But the two players, I think Liverpool have been linked with hit him and probably a bit less seriously, Carlos Beliba, who's been phenomenal for them. Both players I would love at Liverpool, but I i can't really see that happening without Liverpool paying a ton of money. Unless Pedro forces a move, but I think it certainly won't be in January. Liverpool aren't really a big January business.
00:26:58
Connor
team. But my god, I would love him to play for Liverpool. I think he's fantastic.
00:27:04
Global Sports Podcast Network
so more Does it pose more questions about the future of Darwin-Nunez? If we're suddenly getting linked with strikers, because you know the links so you know up until now have been with holding midfielders, maybe a defender or fullback, and all of a sudden now we've got these rumours circulating strikers.
00:27:23
Connor
Yeah, I think it's maybe a little bit of a chicken and egg thing, you know, maybe one doesn't happen without the other. But at the same time, at the same time, Liverpool...
00:27:33
Connor
It's funny when that first press conference, I think, that Arnis Lot and Richard Hughes gave together, where they very clearly said that Liverpool will be opportunistic in the market. And I'm not sure if Zhao Pedro is that opportunistic when there's other, there's other signings that Liverpool have been linked to, like Omar Marmouche, who his contract's a little bit lower.
00:27:52
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:27:53
Connor
He's not going to cost that much. He's having a far better season. He's still this right edge profile. he's He's not as injury-prone, you know, it all kind of favors him a little bit at the minute, but I'd be happy with either of them. And also, I want Nunes to work out, but like we said, Jesse, time time is ticking for our boy Darwin.
00:28:13
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I hate to say it, but I i just think that, yeah, I think the writing might be, if not completely on the wall, I think the first few letters are going up.
00:28:25
Global Sports Podcast Network
I just think that, I think it's just been too long.
00:28:29
Global Sports Podcast Network
I don't know, I can't think of too many strikers who, it took them like two or the third season to really start firing consistently.
00:28:42
Global Sports Podcast Network
You know, i I think these days in the Premier League, I think you've got to pretty much hit the ground running. and And he just hasn't done that. And for all his work rate, for all his effort and his commitment, which you just can't question, I don't know whether that's enough for a club like Liverpool, if they're going to be competing on all fronts, because
00:29:03
Global Sports Podcast Network
it's too top-heavy on on Salah in terms of the goal contributions. If something happened to Mo, you know, yes Jota can chip in, Gatpo chips in, Diaz does as well, but you need someone, you need your number nine to be reliably contributing 20 goals.
00:29:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
When we had that famous front three, yeah Mo was firing but Mane would chip in with 15, 20, Bobby would come in with 10 to 15 and I just don't think Nunez has done enough and um'm I'm worried that he won't.
