Introduction to Liverpool vs Fulham Match

00:00:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hello and welcome to today's episode of the daily Liverpool Podcast, brought to you by the Global Sports Podcast Network. I'm Adarsh Ramchurn and it's Cross over Thursday. Liverpool host the mighty Fulham on Saturday, 3pm at Anfield, with the Reds looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League, following last week's postponed Merseyside Derby. If this game is anything like last season's 4-3 belter, we're in for a treat. For today's episode, I'm joined by Louie Easton. Louie, how's it going?
00:00:35
Louie Easton
I'm great mate, how are you doing?
00:00:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
All good, all good. Excited to get on this crossover. And I'm delighted to say that we're joined by the Daily Fulham Team and by Gavin. Gavin, how you doing?
00:00:46
Gavin Ruffell
Yeah, I'm not too bad. How are you doing, guys? It's nice to be here. Looking forward to

Team Form and Tactical Preview

00:00:50
Gavin Ruffell
a good game. As you said, there was an exciting one last season, went 4-3. So, I mean, if we get one that's half as good as that, I think we're all in for a treat.
00:00:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, I know. That's what I'm hoping for. well Hopefully we still win on Saturday. So in part one, we'll discuss both teams' form going into this game. In part two, we'll look at a tactical preview of the match. And then in part three, we'll touch on some score predictions and goal scorers. So without further ado, part one, Gavin, I'll come to you first. Fulham seemed to be flying at the moment. um Players in great form, Marco Silva's, got everyone playing really well. What's what's your take on Fulham season so far?
00:01:24
Gavin Ruffell
Yeah, it's been really good. And I think the exciting thing going into games now is you expect them to score. They've scored fourtee- in 14 consecutive Premier League games, which is a club record. I think it's even maybe a top flight record for them as well. so And they've had tough fixtures as well recently as well. So they've had to contend with that playing playing against Spurs, Brighton Arsenal in the space of a week. And they've come and come away unbeaten from all three of those games. So it's exciting. You're going into games, even these games against Liverpool where you know it's going to be a tough ask.
00:01:51
Gavin Ruffell
but you have a hope, you have a feeling that on their day they are capable of getting results against the better teams in the league.

Fulham's Transfer Success and European Aspirations

00:01:57
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, no, definitely. I think it's been, I mean, obviously I was watching the the Arsenal game with with some interest because obviously I wanted you guys to sort of stop them from winning and you guys did that. So, no, it' it's impressive how Fulham have sort of started this season.
00:02:09
Global Sports Podcast Network
Louie, what's your what's your full thoughts on Fulham? Because obviously we've, I remember you mentioned actually that you went to the last season's game at Craven Cottage to see it.
00:02:16
Louie Easton
Yeah, I went to both matches ah and they were the only team.
00:02:17
Global Sports Podcast Network
lets ah but That's it, yeah.
00:02:20
Louie Easton
Yeah, Fulham are the only two matches that I actually went to last season. Craven Cottage I just went outside and started asking people if they had a spare ticket and I got in. um Don't do that.
00:02:32
Louie Easton
It's not a good idea and because I almost went home very disappointed. But yeah, I- I'm a big fan of Fulham. I think they I can say this, they're my second favorite team in the Premier League. It's the first team I ever saw when I was younger. 2011, I went to Fulham Stoke City. Pavel Paul-Grebnyak scored an absolute banger there. um But for this season, ah I really like them. I think they had a very good transfer window. Getting in the Emile Smith Rowe has just been a revelation. ah Raul Jimenez as well, starting to score. He did so against Arsenal, a very well-taken goal.
00:03:07
Louie Easton
I don't think they've just improved in terms of their off-the-ball play this

Liverpool's Transition and Current Form

00:03:11
Louie Easton
Season. um I won't get too technical about it because I'll wait until the second part to do that. But yeah, just I'm- I'm a big fan of Fulham this season. I think they um, I think they have every right to believe that they can maybe even push for a conference league spot.
00:03:27
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, no, definitely. I think, I definitely think personally that a they should be pushing for Europe. They're kind of in that cluster of teams with alongside Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth, in my opinion, that I think could really push for at least a European spot. So that's definitely something that they should be pushing for this season. um And then from a Liverpool point of view, Gavin, I wanted to get your opinion on Liverpool under Arne Slot. Obviously, things are going quite well for us, top of the league. Have you seen Arne Slot's sort of rise at the beginning of the season?
00:03:52
Gavin Ruffell
Yeah, it's so impressive, isn't it? I think a lot of Liverpool fans, when they saw that announcement video from Jurgen Klopp, when was it sort of January time or later than that last season, um would have been scared and petrified almost in a way because all they've known for the last sort of decade is Jurgen Klopp, but he's like this godlike figure up there, isn't he? This Messiah.
00:04:12
Gavin Ruffell
Eventually you have to move on, you have to part ways and we we saw it with Manchester United after Sir Alex Fergs and all the success they enjoyed over an

Key Player Performances and Match Significance

00:04:19
Gavin Ruffell
extended period of time. Then going over to David Moyes, it shows how difficult that change can be, how difficult that transition can be. and I've seen some unfair things, I- I feel by pundits, by by saying things like, while Jurgen Klopp just laid the groundwork,
00:04:33
Gavin Ruffell
slots not had to do anything, which I think is a total discredit to what he's done. He's obviously come in there. He's given the given some plays like Ryan Gravenberch, who looks a completely different player this season. So he seems to have improved him, maybe even Gakpo as well. And it's just been seamless and fighting on all fronts, aren't they? Top of the Champions League, top of the Premier League into the Carabao Cup quarterfinals. So I think even from Liverpool fans must have been beyond your wildest expectations how it's gone so far.
00:04:59
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, no, it has been, it has been crazy. I don't think ah many of us would have predicted the positions we're in, both in the Champions League and in the Premier League. So it is definitely, definitely an amazing start to the season, both from Liverpool and on er Slot. Louie, obviously heading into this game, we won 1-0 in the Champions League against Girona, not the most convincing win. um And obviously we had that postponed Merseyside Derby last weekend. So how big of a test is this game for Liverpool?
00:05:25
Louie Easton
um It's a pretty, it's a big test, um because Fulham aren't the sort of team that we'll underestimate, ah given their record this season, ah they are more than capable of scoring a goal against us, um as Gavin mentioned earlier this season, and earlier this podcast rather than earlier this season. ah but Yeah, it's a big test in the respect that um it's our first match back in the Premier League ah for quite a while in December terms and Fulham just looked like a really good side um off the ball going forwards and coming back as well from Spain and playing a few days later. That's always hard. I'm not making excuses in case we lose but
00:06:13
Louie Easton
ah it It's a huge test ah for us and it it will be so interesting to see if we can keep a clean sheet against them as well.

Key Player Battles and Tactical Matchups

00:06:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, no, I think i think you mentioned Fulham have scored in the last 14 games in the and and all competitions, which is really impressive. um there's um There's one player that I really want to touch on, which we'll probably touch on in the tactical preview as well, but ah Gavin, the former Alex Iwobi this season. I mean, i can I can testify to that because he's he's in my fantasy team, so he's he's doing pretty well. um But what have you what have you made of his form? Because it's kind of, I don't want to say it's come out of nowhere, but he's just sort of taken this Fulham team by the scruff of the neck.
00:06:49
Gavin Ruffell
Yeah, I completely agree with you. It has come a away come out of nowhere in some respects. If you look back at his time at Everton and Arsenal, he played a lot of games for Everton and ah you look at his goal ratio goal per game ratio, it didn't really stand out comparing that to Fulham. And I think he scored five or six this season, but he's had contributions in terms of assists as well. And he's a manager's dream. Marco Silva knows him well because he was at Everton with him. That's obviously the links there. So that's why he brought him to Fulham at the start of last season. And he's so versatile as a player.
00:07:17
Gavin Ruffell
He's operating normally on the left side at the minute, but he can play on the right just as well. He can play behind the striker. We saw in the game against Brighton where he scored two goals, he actually played in a deeper position. Sasa Lukic being out for that game and they had a little bit of a problem in the central midfield area. So he sort of covered that and scored two goals. So it didn't seem to have much of an impact on his game as far as an attacking standpoint is concerned. And even the game against Arsenal.
00:07:42
Gavin Ruffell
ah when Fulham were asked to defend, they defended a lot in that game, so he slipped into a back five, which was the case against Manchester City when they went to the Etihad in that early stage in the season, so there's no doubt in my mind, he's 27 years old, he's been in the Premier League wall, a big club at Arsenal, going to Goodison, whereas you you probably know as well, I mean, Goodison's, it can be a difficult place to play, can it, because the fans are off and on your back, if things aren't going well, the first 10, 20 minutes,
00:08:09
Gavin Ruffell
um but he's at Craven Cottage, a bit more relaxed atmosphere and we're just seeing him in blossom and play the best football of his career and ah it's exciting for Fulham fans. You obviously got that Arsenal connection in the team with Nelson, Nelson's obviously injured, now Smith-Rowe and Alex the Worldby but out of those three, Alex the Worldby has definitely been the standout performer, probably the standout performer for Fulham this season.
00:08:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
100%. He's definitely going to be a threat on Saturday. um We'll touch more on the tactical preview of the match after this very short break.
00:09:02
Global Sports Podcast Network
Amazing. So, um like I said, in part one, we touched on Alex Iwobi, key player for Fulham. Louie, our key player this season, it's it's not even a question, it's Mo Salah. I mean, scored a goal um midweek in the Champions League penalty to take us extra three points in the Champions League. He's obviously going to be a key player on Saturday, isn't he?
00:09:22
Louie Easton
Yeah, absolutely. um I mentioned before, I think he's the best player in the world right now. ah He's getting loads of Ballon d'Or shouts at the moment, and rightfully so. there scoring and This scoring form is just unbelievable. I think his interplay is incredibly underrated because everyone just talked about his finishing ability, but his ability to dribble, cut in on the wing, ah find a player in the middle.
00:09:44
Louie Easton
you know If Darwin Nunez could actually score, he would be ah flying up that assist charts, probably overtaking Saka, but he's just he's just incredible. I think we have a few key players, but you know he's the sort of player that can win you games at any moment in the match, right at the end, right at the beginning. He's just relentless. He's a nightmare for defenders to deal with.
00:10:09
Louie Easton
um And he's going to be causing many, many problems to this Fulham defence.
00:10:16
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, it's interesting you mentioned that because one of the key battles that I identified for this match is going to be Salah against Antonee Robinson, who again, Gavin has had an absolutely incredible season. He seems to you seem to be one of those consistent players every season that just puts in seven out of 10 minimum each game.
00:10:31
Global Sports Podcast Network
So what do you think a battle, Gavin?
00:10:31
Gavin Ruffell
Yeah. Yeah, I mean, he's having it easier than that. He's gone from playing against Bukaya Saka last week to Mohammed

Defensive Capabilities and Player Form Struggles

00:10:38
Gavin Ruffell
Salah this week. So yeah, good luck to you. But no, as you quite rightly said, he's been so consistent. He has been this season. He's improved even from where he was last season. I know he's been linked in dispatches with some of the bigger clubs, maybe even maybe even Liverpool. So this is well hopefully for Fulham fans he has a good game but not too much of a good game so it ends up with him moving to Anfield or something like that but I think the one area where he has actually improved from last season is his crossing ability that you always used to be a criticism level at him you get in good positions to cross and that you just over hit it time and time again but he seems to have worked on that and that's been really successful I think he's had
00:11:11
Gavin Ruffell
probably more assists from any defender in the league. And against Saka, he pretty much shut him down for most of the game last week. Obviously, Bukayo Saka is a class player and you're not going to keep him quiet for 90 minutes. He looked like he popped up late on with that winning goal, didn't he? But it was just adjudicated offside, Martinelli offside. And he's just recently been made captain as well, taken over from Bernd Leno. So that's a good position for him to take. And they've probably done that with a mind to fend off any interest that does come his way better.
00:11:38
Gavin Ruffell
There's no doubt in mind that he no doubt in my mind sorry that he is one of the top three or four left-backs in this division.
00:11:46
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, 100%. His stock seems to keep rising every season and I've seen the rumours just not just to Liverpool but to other sort of big clubs. Not just in the Premier League actually but across Europe because I think I've seen like Bayern Munich have been linked with him in other clubs. so um So yeah, that's definitely going to be a battle for them to keep him on his hands.
00:12:01
Global Sports Podcast Network
ah him on their hand, sorry. um In terms of the other key battles in the game, Louie, I kind of mentioned Jimenez and Van Dijk, because I think Jimenez is in good form as well. He's been great this season. I remember that assist against Man City was absolutely amazing. He got the goal against Arsenal, so he seems to be affecting the big games. What do you see the main threat from a full-on point of view and in the sense of Jimenez coming up against our defence?
00:12:26
Louie Easton
Well, I think he's quite a hot and cold player, and because he'll score some, but he'll also miss some as well. um He hits the bar quite a lot, I seem to think, this season.
00:12:33
Global Sports Podcast Network
Mm.
00:12:38
Louie Easton
um but and Most notably recently, I think it was against Wolves, he smashed the crossbar. You know, he does also turn a half chance into a chance. um Brilliant with a dead ball as well. But I just think against Van Dijk,

Score Predictions and Match Dynamics

00:12:55
Louie Easton
anyone would struggle, especially Jimenez, because Van Dijk just seems to step across any player, win every header, um close him down.
00:13:07
Louie Easton
beat him for pace. it's it's It's not an easy battle for any player against Virgil van Dijk because I honestly do think he's the best defender in Premier League history.
00:13:21
Louie Easton
um and And I just can't see, ah I just can't see Jimenez scoring in the box against Virgil van Dijk. I'm probably jinxing this now, he's going to prove me wrong. But yeah, he I think he's going to have a really tough time against Virgil van Dijk and I think Gavin, you agree.
00:13:41
Gavin Ruffell
i absolutely know I absolutely do agree ah um i agree with what you're saying about him being hot and cold. I think that was an important goal for him against Arsenal because he hadn't been scoring in his last few games. A bit of rotation, so he missed the game against Brighton. Moniz came into that game and there was just one or two questions again of who was the number one striker. We thought we got past this position because Muniz started the season.
00:14:03
Gavin Ruffell
And then Jimenez came in with scoring ah in successive games, he scored three or four get goals in quick succession. As you said, he had that wonderful bacchial assist against Manchester City. But um yeah, again, question marks, I mean, he's not getting any younger, is he 33 years old? so If the goals had dried up completely until the end of this year, then that might be a position that Fulham are looking to do something in the January window because football can change so quickly. you know one One minute you're up there, one minute you're at rock bottom. So again, it's important for him just to remain consistent. And yeah, I mean, lo like you said, against Van Dijk, he's not going to get any change out of him, is he? It's a really tough matchup for him. ah I almost feel like Moniz in this game would slightly be better up against Van Dijk because
00:14:48
Gavin Ruffell
he just He's more of a nuisance sort of player, he's good at aerial duels and just being being in tussles with defenders. Jimenez obviously doesn't have that electrifying pace as well that can can worry Van Dijk. but yeah So the the striker problem is not not a problem, I think that's being harsh, but it's just one to watch up for them. it

Final Thoughts and Next Episode Invitation

00:15:08
Gavin Ruffell
can It can change very quickly.
00:15:11
Global Sports Podcast Network
um No, that is definitely true. I think you make a good point, Gavin, because if Muniz does come in and you've got that pace, you've also got the pace of players like Antonee Robinson, and also it will be, you've got other wingers like Harry Wilson if he plays on on the break. And I think, Louie, if Liverpool are going to get a result in this game, they need to be careful with that counter-attack, don't they?
00:15:29
Louie Easton
yeah absolutely uh... but i i don't think we have been caught on the counter-attack too many times recently uh... also Joe Gomez and Virgil Van Dijk are two very quick defenders uh... as well as trent and uh... robertson i mean they will not stop running and i mean i don't think fulham are particularly quick in their attack but they're always uh... well aware of where each other are and their understanding of the game is really good. um So yes, that is maybe something to look out for. But, um you know, I think we are more than capable of dealing with that as well, as especially since the amount of clean sheets we've been getting recently as well. It's absolutely brilliant.
00:16:14
Global Sports Podcast Network
I just realized I thought I mentioned counter-attack and quick quickness and I didn't mention Adama Traure, which is obviously of probably the fastest player in the league. um So in terms of ah Liverpool, Gavin, what's the main threats that you see from us?
00:16:22
Louie Easton
Hmm.
00:16:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Obviously we mentioned Salah, but what other sort of threats have you noticed from Liverpool that we'll probably bring into this game?
00:16:33
Gavin Ruffell
threats threats all over the pictures Macalesters is he out is he he suspended right okay well Mohammed Salah I mean I said this in my the little preview I was doing about Anthony Robinson he can tie him down for 88 89 minutes but most miles most has a is are type of guy that can pop up the night of minute
00:16:37
Global Sports Podcast Network
He's suspended.
00:16:38
Louie Easton
They suspended.
00:16:49
Gavin Ruffell
winner and then you feel like you've had a good game. And no, that's that's not the case. And Luis Diaz is another player I've liked. I think he's one that's been up and down with Liverpool fans at times, but I've always really liked him and it's the qualities he's had. And I think defensively, I know they lost a knot in the forest, but in the lead, they've only conceded three goals at home, haven't they? Which is by far the best of any team in the division. So Any chances for them do get, they're going to have to be efficient, like in the game against Arsenal. They only had two shots on goal in that game and they scored one one of them. So yeah, any attacks they do. It'll be interesting to see how they set up because going away to Manchester City and going away to Spurs, they were on the front foot a lot and they they actually had better XG than both of those teams and outplayed them. It was just him and Es missing a couple of good ah good chances against Spurs that denied them winning that game against Manchester City, a Adama Traore ran riot.
00:17:40
Gavin Ruffell
and
00:17:40
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah.
00:17:41
Gavin Ruffell
Speaking of Adama Traore ., if he does play that could be one to watch. I mean, Alexander Arnold, I mean, it should be illegal to be to do the things he does as ah as a fullback on the ball. I mean, his range of passing is just better than any of the fullback I've ever seen.
00:17:55
Gavin Ruffell
And his set pieces, I think he scored at least one free kick against Fulham last season, might have even been two.
00:18:00
Louie Easton
Yeah, he scored at Craven Cottage and he did that one at Anfield which was an own goal, but it was a goal.
00:18:02
Gavin Ruffell
So,
00:18:08
Gavin Ruffell
Yeah, but of course he he scored the eight the winner last season coming from 3-2 down later on in that game. so
00:18:14
Gavin Ruffell
The only thing, you talk about counter attack, Adama Traore potentially could play on the left-hand side and if Fulham received the ball, then he can run at Trent, and get joy out. I was frustrated with Adama last week because anytime he got the ball, he just tried to pass it, and that's just not his game. It's almost as if he lacked belief to take on the Arsenal defenders. I mean, they had Thomas Partey playing at right back, so that should have been a good matchup for him, at a converted midfielder. and ah It was, I described it as like Usain Bolt trying to do shot put. It's just, that's not where his talents lie. So at the end of the day, if a diameter is going to get blocked off or doubled up on that, I'm fine with that. Don't try and be too technical and do things that other players are better at the new. So, um, but yeah, I mean, Liverpool pose threats or all over the place, but Muhammad Salah, he's he's in the form of his life, isn't he? I mean, which is crazy to, crazy to say, um, even at this stage in his Liverpool career.
00:18:14
Louie Easton
yeah
00:19:12
Global Sports Podcast Network
No, indeed. I think you make a really good point about Traure, because sometimes he can frustrate you as a Fulham fan, like you want him and his end product. Speaking of a player that frustrates fans, Louie, Darwin-Nunez, you mentioned it earlier.
00:19:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
What are your thoughts?
00:19:24
Louie Easton
Yeah.
00:19:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Do you think he starts his game?
00:19:27
Louie Easton
Well, Jota's still out, isn't he? Kind of. Well, he's he's coming back, I think. But, um yeah, we have to start, Darwin Nunez . um i I'm starting to give up on him, to be honest. I'm more than happy to go back on my word, but I just think he's been at Liverpool for long enough, now to the point where he has to start taking all of these chances, and he's been... He's been frustrating us so many times over his time at Liverpool. um He will have his moments of brilliance. We all absolutely love him. We will all ah completely support and be behind him forever. But, you know, enough is enough, really. He needs to score now. And he has so many opportunities where he gets into the box and gets a shot off and he'll scuff it. He'll shoot it straight at the goalkeeper. He won't stay composed and I'll be like,
00:20:18
Louie Easton
ah It will come but he's been doing it for ages now what's it? Like two and a half years now at Liverpool and he's just not been he's not been a Brilliant striker despite his what er whatever it was 60 million price tag and I heard somewhere that it was between signing him and ah Isak who went to Newcastle and
00:20:24
Global Sports Podcast Network
Okay.
00:20:42
Louie Easton
Why didn't we get Isak? I understand that Nunez was brilliant at Benfica for times, but you just think with the recruitment we have, we would make the right decision. And I always backed uh Darwin Nunez for that reason, but it's been too long now and I'm getting too frustrated and I'm still more than happy to be proven wrong, like I said, but I'm starting to lose my patience with him.
00:21:10
Global Sports Podcast Network
Louie, I share the same sentiment. I mean, yeah, he's just been so frustrating. That Girona game, I mean, he had chances, his on the ball decision-making. Very frustrating. But hopefully, I mean, this is the thing we've done, I knew as we always...
00:21:20
Louie Easton
the New castle game as well
00:21:22
Global Sports Podcast Network
Yeah, didn oh, that Newcastle game. Don't you hear me starting on that one? He was just, yeah.
00:21:24
Louie Easton
and
00:21:26
Global Sports Podcast Network
Hopeless wreck, I would like to say. But um hopefully, hopefully he can turn it around against Fulham. And in part three, we're going to touch on some score predictions and goal scorers in the match. But we'll cover that after this very short break.
00:22:15
Global Sports Podcast Network
Amazing. So like I said before the break, we're going to touch on some score predictions and potential goal scorers in the match. Gavin, I'll come to you first. Full of my way. So um it makes it makes sense for me to come to you first. What do you think the school will be on Saturday?
00:22:28
Gavin Ruffell
ah do i have to give it prediction and Well Fulham actually have been pretty solid away from him. They've only lost in Manchester and that's ah by the odd goal. So they have been decent. And um as I've mentioned, 14 consecutive games where they've scored, but this is going to be their biggest test. There is no doubt about that. I'm just hoping that they show some of the qualities on the ball that we saw against Manchester City at the Etihad. I think Marco Silva, whilst he would have been happy with the point against Arsenal, he made note of it himself. He was quick to mention that
00:23:03
Gavin Ruffell
he wasn't entirely happy with how full and played on the ball in that game. He didn't you know he he didn't set them up to be defending for 90 minutes, trust me. But so it's hard it's hard to see anything other than Liverpool liverpool win with how they've been playing, and how they've been playing at Anfield, just that one setback against Nottingham Forest. um And yeah, I think it is going to be a tough afternoon for them. I can see i can see Liverpool winning 2-0, sadly.
00:23:28
Global Sports Podcast Network
Interesting. Okay. ah i I do think Fulham will score protect personally, so it's it's interesting you offer 2-0. But, Louis, I'll get your prediction and any want who do you think is going to score as well?

Well I'll start just by saying that Fulham I think are a team that Liverpool can struggle against. um I know it's at Anfield it will be under the lights because of the fact that we're in winter and it gets dark really early now. um And I just think you know it's our first match back in the Premier League after that frustrating one against ah Newcastle.

coming back from Spain and it will definitely have to get them in the second half because in the first half I really can see Fulham maybe even nicking a goal. um The cop will be in full volume in the second half. Texas will go out the window as we've seen before and we'll just start throwing players forward and it will go in. That's how I see it happening.

As for an actual score prediction, I hate doing these I must say because I never get them right and it's such an unpredictable sport. I've lost so much money betting on this sport. But um i I'm going to say 3-1 and all of Liverpool's goals to come in the second half.

who I think will score. I i haven't got a clue, but so you can imagine Salah getting another one. I'd like to see Dahweh Nunez get a goal just to get his confidence up and you know to get people off his back a bit, myself included. so um But yeah, that's how I see it going. 3-1, I think.

Interesting, okay, that's that interest interesting predictions from both of you. um I do think it'll be a tight game. I think, and i i'm in my head, I see it as a similar game for Liverpool as the Brighton game. I think Fulham will go ahead 1-0 and then maybe second half we're able to turn it around.
00:25:07
Louie Easton
Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

But I do think it'll be a narrow... I'm gonna go with 2-1. I think it'll be a narrow win for Liverpool, not very convincing, but we'll get the job done. Hopefully, obviously Gavin, you're hoping for the complete opposite.
00:25:20
Gavin Ruffell
Yeah, I mean, it's funny you say for them going ahead and losing the game because I haven't quite a number of times this season.

um

I think it's only Brentford have actually thrown away more points from winning positions than they have. And I think they think 11 times they scored the first goal.

Yeah.

So that wouldn't be that wouldn't be completely surprising and. um Yeah, just evoking sort of memories from last season where Fulham led ah later on. And then it seems to happen at Anfield, doesn't it? It happened in the Carabao Cup as well last season. Fulham got their noses in front, then Liverpool score one, and then they just score the second straight away. It just seems to be that Anfield factor maybe in the second half when they're kicking towards that cup, it almost sucks the ball in the net. It just has that feeling, that effect to it. and um Yeah, obviously, as I said, you know, not necessarily expecting it, but I mean, it would be nice if we got a similar game to what we expected last season. I'm just hoping from a full-on perspective, we see a bit more of an attack of an attacking it attacking standpoint from what we saw last week. And I think in the away games, they they have done that. So i think I don't think it will be quite back to the wall as we saw against Liverpool, just because I don't think you can do that for 90 minutes at Anfield. It's not going to work.

Yeah, no, I don't think I don't think it will work, but I do think, like I said, like you said, Fulham will carry a threat. And as you mentioned at the beginning of the podcast, if it's anything like last season's game, then we are in for a treat. That is all for today's episode of Crossover Thursday.
