Introduction to 'Old Geezer's Talk ADHD'
00:00:00
Speaker
Yeah. I've just noticed you wearing the t-shirt. I almost put that t-shirt on. Yeah. Nice. All right. Let's say hello and welcome to Old Geezer's Talk ADHD.
00:00:27
Speaker
Hold Jesus cool about A.D.
00:00:38
Speaker
Well, that wasn't bad for our first... Not bad at all. Not bad. Actually, it's like two of us over the top. I think this works. All right.
Hosts' ADHD Diagnosis Stories
00:00:48
Speaker
So, yeah, I'm Paul Thompson and I was diagnosed with ADHD two weeks ago. Fresh. And I'm Martin West and I was diagnosed ADHD delightful about seven years ago.
00:01:03
Speaker
So here we go. This is, uh, this is what we're all about. Okay. So we're just two geezers who by coincidence or not, after 39 years of friendship, discover that we're co ADHD is woo.
00:01:18
Speaker
I know. Now it's really important to say that this is an entertainment podcast about ADHD and does not substitute for individualized advice from qualified health professionals. So don't take any advice from us, please.
00:01:33
Speaker
We're here as a kind of all-inclusive ADH park bench. Oh, an all-inclusive ADHD pair of slippers, if you prefer. Comfy. Comfy. Our ultimate hope is to create a safe space for the ADHD community where we can engage openly and frankly
00:01:55
Speaker
OK, so still here. OK, then grab your language back and let's take you to ADHDville, an imaginary town that we've created in our minds where we like to explore different parts of ADHD.
Exploring the Concept of ADHDville
00:02:08
Speaker
We start off in the mayor's office where we, the joint mayors of ADHDville. Hello. It's where we take care of business. Yeah. All right, Mayor Thompson.
00:02:23
Speaker
Yeah. The minutes of the meeting for episode one are number one. Let's talk about any any housekeeping. Yeah. Yeah. Well, it's the first first episode. So, you know, we're not like we haven't got like because I'm old school or we're old school. This is not like a sack of mail, you know, in our inbox that we need to go through. But.
00:02:51
Speaker
from the offset. I was thinking Martin about this morning, we could talk about, you know, what, what we potentially our first sponsor should be. We could take a bit of a, a little bet on it. I'm thinking, I don't know. I was, I'd like Marmite as our first sponsor. All right. Just throwing it out there. Marmite if you're listening. You either hate us or you hate us. Exactly. And we're spreadable. Right.
00:03:17
Speaker
Number two on our list. How was your ADHD week,
Challenges and Coping Strategies for ADHD
00:03:24
Speaker
Mr. Thompson? Yeah. Well, as I said at the beginning, it's like two weeks into the diagnosis. So it's been a bit of a bit of a roller coaster.
00:03:38
Speaker
of a roller coaster. I feel like I'm super sensitive to everything that happens, you know, in your head. And so yeah, there's that.
00:03:55
Speaker
And then stuff going on like last night, you know, or maybe I found a new job that's like not the one I've been doing for the last 34 years or so. And that was like, Oh, and then the rug was taken away. It's like, Oh no, sorry. We've offered to someone else. We didn't realize. Sorry. Bye. Uh, yeah. Roller coaster. How about you? All right. So you're all right. I've, I've had a good ADHD week.
00:04:19
Speaker
in that I've managed to, last week I actually got an accountant to sort out my couple of years of tax returns that I've been shame spiraling on. So I sent off a cheque to him and all the paperwork.
00:04:36
Speaker
Yeah. So I feel good about that. That's like a big win. Yeah. That's it though, isn't it? It's the same for me. It's like if I hate doing it, when it's done, it feels so good. Right. Yeah. So I've dug myself out of a big shame spell. So I count that as a big win.
00:04:58
Speaker
All right, so let's get on to the third item, which is just to tell you, dear listener, please subscribe to our little pod, rate us, tell us what you think, tell us your stories, and all of that lovely engagement keeps the lights running on here in ADHD though.
00:05:18
Speaker
Oh well, and I've just noticed that you've added an item onto the meeting. Yeah. Homework. Homework. Yeah.
Innovative ADHD Relief Techniques
00:05:28
Speaker
Yeah. Do you remember where we said, oh, let's like set ourselves like a thing to do from one pod to the other. Yeah.
00:05:35
Speaker
right? I think like on my random I've been going deep diving as I said on an ADHD for a bit and I came across this this thing it's like there exists a smooth brown noise isochronic tones um music podcast for um intense relief and ADHD so here's my thing we'll try it for weeks see what happens that's it
00:06:04
Speaker
All right. There you go. So you have a link for this? Yeah, yeah. I'll send you one. All right. So we'll put that in the show notes so that anyone else can have a look. It could be a complete shit show, you know, but it's out there. There's so much stuff out there. So the idea is that we, you know, every now and again, you know, we'd like put this out there.
00:06:29
Speaker
You know, sometimes left field stuff like this. I think it's going to be like rainfall, you know, for 12 hours, just the sound that helps you go up to sleep. But this probably is ADHD specific. OK, well, I'll kick as I normally listen to podcasts. That's what I do. You know, like I put my head on the pillow and then I put on a on a nice little pod that has a nice little voice that
00:06:58
Speaker
You know, yeah, that's good for me. So, all right. So, for the next, well, it's actually because of how we record this, it's going to be two weeks. We will get back and report on what we thought of the brown noise and isochronic tones.
00:07:19
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. I was going to, I was going to throw in like a real left field thing. I was going to surprise you mate. I was going to surprise you saying, Martin, you know, I don't get upset with me. Um, and you see, I know you said, let's not blow the budget on the first podcast episode, right? Because it's tiny. Yeah, right. You're right. And we spent loads on the editing department and you know, catering trucks. Exactly. Right.
00:07:48
Speaker
And then we've got a special guest. He's blown the budget, I know, but I've teed him up. Wait, what? You have a special guest. Yeah, I've teed him up. He's waiting to come on. Who? Who? When? Leonardo da Vinci. I thought you were saying Leonardo DiCaprio for a second. No, da Vinci. All right. OK.
00:08:16
Speaker
Yeah, but apparently
Famous Figures with ADHD?
00:08:18
Speaker
he's not available. Oh, he's not available. No, weirdly. On account of being dead. Yeah, I think it's between agents. He's like, I'm tired of one of these. In between celestial agents. Jesus Christ. Oh, he's one of the agents. Yeah. Yeah.
00:08:38
Speaker
But joking apart, he's apparently atrociously and gloriously ADHD, never finished a project, massive procrastinator. And the guy who's actually got this research in a magazine called Brains, didn't know that existed, Italian guy studies at
00:09:02
Speaker
at Big Ass University in London, can't remember what it's called, studied him for years. So yeah, absolutely, massive procrastinator, clearly ADHD. And never finished a thing. I feel like that's a, is that gonna be a regular segment?
00:09:31
Speaker
Yeah, that never turns up because they're between agents. All right. All right. I've put that in the minutes of the meeting for next week as well. All right. So next on the agenda, last on the agenda, where are you taking us today, Paul?
00:09:54
Speaker
Yes, so as we kind of like smoothly and seamlessly teed up at the beginning, we've got this imaginary well-called ADHD video. So every podcast episode, we're going to take you to this like imaginary world and it kind of loosely connects with the subject. So I'm taking you guys and Martin to, we're going to offer you a coffee at the local coffee shop.
00:10:24
Speaker
And for me, it always has to be the least noisy part of the coffee shop because I can't stand back where noise drives me insane. I want to enjoy that coffee. All right. Well, let's talk about that. Let's just jump in our car and then we're going to make our way over to the coffee place.
00:10:57
Speaker
I think I'll have an oat milk starter. Oat milk? Really? Yeah. That's your tip. Yeah. I'm an espresso. Espresso.
00:11:12
Speaker
which uh because you know i i live in italy and you know the whole thing here is like you know you go you literally go to coffee shop it's really cool here you can ask for a cafe and that means it's been like go to a coffee shop in london say can i have a coffee and like what but here it means espresso
00:11:31
Speaker
And, uh, yes, straight up normal espresso. And, uh, yeah, nice. You can only have a cappuccino in the morning and that it's like a, it's a heretical sin to have one time of the day. They do look at you a bit strangely.
00:11:51
Speaker
Yeah, but having said that, they just, I don't know, they might kind of like, I've got this, it's so obvious when you're not Italian. And the people look at me and they before I even talk, they know I'm not Italian, don't know how they do it, but it's like instinct. And so if you ask for cappuccino at three in the afternoon, they're just like, okay, yeah, it's not Italian. Yeah, kind of just confirmed what they already knew before even asked for it, you know,
00:12:18
Speaker
It's a bloody tourist. A bloody tourist. What do you want? Now my Italian friends are going to crucify me for my crap Italian accent. I think they'll probably kill me first to be honest. But you live in the world of this, you live in Soprano's world.
00:12:41
Speaker
Well, in that direction. Yeah, the whole New York Italian thing is a whole culture all by itself. Because they wanted to take the producers of Sopranos accord, or they did take them to court, didn't they? I don't know. For defamation and whatever. I don't know. Just like portraying Italians in a bad way. Yeah.
00:13:10
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Anyway. So anyway, we should get ours. Yes. Seamlessly. Seamlessly. We're going to segue on our segues in the coffee shop to the focus of this week, which is like, talk about how, how are you, how we, or you specifically were diagnosed being two weeks fresh.
Paul's ADHD Diagnosis Journey
00:13:38
Speaker
Yeah. Tell us about it. Yeah. Cause, um, just to put it into context for everyone listening, Martin doesn't know any of this. Martin said, don't tell me, don't tell me, even though it'd be dying to share. Yeah. Yeah. So without getting into like, you know, going on for hours and hours of like backstory, I've got like this, like tick list. Okay. Like what led up to it. I really fast or furious. Okay. Here's, here's your tick list.
00:14:08
Speaker
I felt like an alien. I'm an all or nothing kind of guy. Decisive or just hate in decision?
00:14:17
Speaker
I can't take off. So you were even indecisive about which you were. About my decisiveness, yeah. Yes. No, I hate indecision. I hate indecision. Right. Yeah. And I just thought it's because I'm decisive. No, it's not. It's because I just hate indecision. It's different. Oh, right. Right. Okay. Got it. Got it. Crack on.
00:14:41
Speaker
Why can't I take on normal everyday tasks like tax returns and bill-playing tech? Why this self-sabotage element of me? Extremely active and exhausting mind.
00:14:59
Speaker
Very low boredom threshold. Okay. But then some good stuff. It's not all bad stuff. Good stuff. Impulsiveness to me takes me to amazing places and situations like out there. It's really cool. We've been on a couple of those ourselves. We have. We have. Like in Cuba, for example. Other good stuff. Hyperfocus. Okay. Can be bad. Can be amazing too. Mm-hmm.
00:15:28
Speaker
can be awe-inspired, can be like, whoa, okay. Other good stuff, hyperobservant. You know, I can just kill it in terms of observation skills. Just like taking and absorb and it stays there for, you know, forever. Yeah. The last piece of background before going to the diagnosis was that in the end, I have to admit I didn't need any confirmation. I knew.
00:15:54
Speaker
you know, 50-year-old, 56-year-old guy, kind of everything just like fitted in, tucked it in, read a nice story. It's like, oh yeah, it's so obvious. So yeah, backstory. Cool. It's the backstory. All right, so that's that to you.
00:16:14
Speaker
That's me. How about you? Because everyone is so different. I think I'll probably take a different episode. So I think we just carry on with yours, mate. Okay. Diagnosis. So this is when it gets a bit bizarre.
00:16:32
Speaker
um diagnosis got lost in the hospital as i always do i once got lost in the hospital like i was with my son enter in right we've got seriously lost but that's that's that's also another episode getting lost in hospitals um then i was kept waiting and i had i was waiting in the reception having after like half an hour found it i found this place in reception
00:16:59
Speaker
thinking of that scene in Betelgeuse when it's like that they've got their ticket to be like for their waiting for their appointment and I thought oh yeah I thought was this part of the test looking at me looking at me on the fidget fidgetometer right which is which is obviously part of the seat beyond as a little fidget and steamometer are like going it's like right yes watching that needle go whoa
00:17:28
Speaker
Okay, anyway, I don't think it was. This guy's riddled with it. He's fidgeting away. Exactly. He's like oohing.
00:17:41
Speaker
It's like oozing pus of the ADHD world. Excuse me, Nurse, but this guy appears to be oozing. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, we clocked him as soon as he came in. Exactly. Yeah, we stopped looking at that needle, which is like, I think we should concentrate on the oozing part. And so it went in and it was all just like really cold, just like lots of people in there. Mm-hmm.
00:18:09
Speaker
and trying to work out, okay, who am I actually visiting? There's like six people in there, doctors. And they just like kicked off on, not kicked off, they started off. That'd be a fight. You could just see in the middle of it all. Yeah, I thought, is this another test? See how I respond to, you know, in a crisis. It's the emotionally Italian doctors shouting at each other. Yeah, in white coats.
00:18:40
Speaker
Yeah, bloody cappuccino, you can only have it in the morning! And so, isn't that just like deep-dived? This is like the first of the questionnaires.
00:18:52
Speaker
I just like tick box ticking exercise. I thought, okay, they're going to want me to elaborate. It's like, Oh, why are you here? Mr. Thompson, please tell me more about your mother or something like that. And it was barely even like, um, locking, you know, like looking at me. He was looking at his screen. Hmm.
00:19:12
Speaker
Yeah. And then I was trying to elaborate, so she'd ask, oh, what about sleeping? Do you sleep well? And I said, well, yeah, I know that's like a big thing, but actually, I sleep really fucking well.
00:19:26
Speaker
like to the proverbial log. Exactly, the probable log. And then it was really obvious that I was responding no to like 80 to 90% of all the questions in terms of it was like clearly ADHD.
00:19:47
Speaker
And then I was like getting nervous like, Oh God, should I just like let fly with a, with a, with a, with a yes. Just otherwise she just thinks I've gone on to auto mode just to get the drugs. Right. So you, you felt it was a bit anti-climactical, the actual test pass. Spot on, mate. I was expecting like dancing girls on trumpet, you know? Oh, right. Trumpet choruses. Can you have a Trumpet chorus? I mean, Italian healthcare is free, right?
00:20:18
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. I paid 22 euros for the test. Right. Whereas kind of over here, you pay a lot of money and you do get dancing girls and the trumpets. Right. That's what you're paying for in the States. Yeah. Where are they? Yeah. I thought I'd just point that out. Yeah. It was clear up front.
00:20:41
Speaker
All right, so it was kind of like, oh, okay. And then so how did they break the news? So they said, oh, Mr. Thompson, would you please in Italian, can you just go back to the reception now? Oh, God, I gotta test me again with the, with the, with the stim and stimogram again.
00:21:02
Speaker
Right. And he's going to call all the heads of all the departments and we're going to have a big call. Yeah, he's going to go to a huddle. Yeah. They're the best minds in Italy. And I'm waiting for about half an hour. Then they went to lunch. Oh, great. Yeah. And they passed, as they passed, it was about the only thing that they said to me that was like a human kind of chatty thing. Oh, we'll see you later.
00:21:26
Speaker
Okay. Okay. So I waited, came out. Then I was back. I was asked back. And he was just like, you know, in little Britain with that computer. And I put my hands up there. Like, all right. And he was like, adding up my score from the questionnaire. All right.
00:21:47
Speaker
And, you know, rustling of papers, you know, and then he got his rubber stamp out. So yeah, you're officially, I could give you these pieces of paper, you're officially both spectrums of the ADHD, non-attentive and whatever the other one is, you're both, you show up as both. Memory.
00:22:14
Speaker
Yeah. Paranoia. And yeah, I think clearly it was so obvious. I was so high on the score. There was no situation for them where it was like, okay, it's borderline. We're getting back for another session.
00:22:39
Speaker
So he could have actually just written some notes, but no, you were so, you were so far in, he, he had to go for his big stamp and go, this is a big stamp job. Let me get my ADHD. Italians love rubber stamps in the red ink. Yeah. Rubber stamped and, and, and signature over the top.
00:23:03
Speaker
Oh, okay. Strangely satisfying. Strangely satisfying. I have to admit that point, that part of it. And I said, um, so yeah. So it then went straight into, uh, talking about drugs.
00:23:18
Speaker
I was like, in my mind, I just want to go, whoa, just hang on a bit. Yeah, okay. Oh, okay. I thought, you know, it's gonna like be three or four appointments or at this point, it's like, okay, clearly rubber stamped in and out. There you go. We're gonna put you on this proper Jill.
00:23:40
Speaker
Oh, okay. And then I tried to like, like engage in a conversation about, you know, what I knew about what types of things were available, you know, slow release and blah, blah, blah. And, uh, didn't engage, did not engage like really truly. I don't think, I don't think he actually answered my question. You know, I think he just gave me like a looked like, I think he just nodded.
00:24:07
Speaker
Um, but I did, I mean, I asked even assumed about, Oh, side effects of this Provegeal. Nothing. So now I'll just try this for two, for two weeks. Send me an email after two weeks. And, um, we might be double up on your dosage after two weeks and see how it goes.
00:24:28
Speaker
All right. And then he said, yeah, for two weeks, then he said, uh, sorry that you had to wait so long. That was the only time he actually gazed with me, you know, right. But I was having lunch. So I humor the situation and said, don't worry, mate. I've been waiting 56 years. Okay.
00:24:50
Speaker
At which point there were various sneakers from, you know, the people that were in there. Yeah. I feel like, I feel like, yeah, right. Exactly. Now that made everyone laugh, like, like that, like I've, from the moment I came here, I've been trying to break through to someone to kind of get, um, connect with someone.
00:25:11
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah. Well, I've done that. That'd be another episode, another podcast. I like to disarm people. And it's like, if I could just make someone happy, sorry, if I can make someone laugh or sneak or whatever, I somehow more comfortable. Yeah. Sometimes really inappropriate. But that's another story. Funerals are not always a good place for that.
00:25:37
Speaker
All right, so how long have you been on pills?
Living with Medication Adjustments
00:25:44
Speaker
I've been on two weeks today. All right. And two weeks after today. How did you find it getting on first? You know, like when you first started taking it? I felt it.
00:26:00
Speaker
Right. And then I put it in my mouth. No. And I felt I felt it in terms of, you know, my brain, my head responded to it. That was the kind of first thing was like, Oh, something going on there. Then pretty much pretty far, pretty quickly, I was feeling I had more energy. Yeah, even nothing like crazy or anything.
00:26:28
Speaker
Then, um, cause it's weird. Like some people say they stopped dreaming. I had some guy the other day on a park on a YouTube channel, he stopped dreaming. He said to his daughter, but doctor, you know, doc, I've stopped dreaming. What the hell? You know, anyway, nothing, nothing like that. Then, um, nothing really went on apart from, I cannot do booze. I can't drink alcohol.
00:26:53
Speaker
I've worked it out pretty quickly. Oh, really? One or two glasses of wine is like, oh, yeah. How about you? Have you had that? Yeah, it doesn't mix. I mean, I drink alcohol now so infrequently that it kind of, I don't, because I'm on different stuff and we will go into that some other time, but no.
00:27:18
Speaker
for me it was I've been like four years five years I've been less and less tolerant with alcohol anyway like Paul you know get a message and it's just like it's like gave me the ultimate you know reason to stop drinking right has it what about what about caffeine
00:27:39
Speaker
Caffeine, I was reducing anyway, reducing the amount of caffeine anyway, leading up to the diagnosis. So that's cool. At the moment, I'm like, like mixing decaf and caffeinated with a mocha, one mocha in the morning. All right. Because I found, okay, so here's the thing, alcohol, coffee and sugar, I found like, I feel it.
00:28:05
Speaker
when I'm worse or taking Provegeal. If I've like three or four Harryboe, I could do like three. Yeah, I know. That's it. Right. You wild man. Podcast gold, mate. Harryboe. Look at that guy over there. He's had like two or three Harryboe. No. He's got his icons of little Harryboe bears with a crossover.
00:28:33
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, why? I mean, yeah. So I think if there's one takeaway from this podcast is don't mix ADHD stimulants with Haribo's. Right. All right. Wise words, mate. Wise words. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, they're all, I mean, because they're all stimulants, aren't they? Sugar, alcohol. Um, I don't smoke, so that's not a problem. Uh, coffee. Holy crap. You know, strong stuff. So, um,
00:29:02
Speaker
point being, you know, okay, you can deal with the effects, but in the end, it actually, um, my understanding is if you're, if you're drinking alcohol or if you're drinking caffeine or whatever smoking, you're at the very best slowing down the potential benefit of taking the, um, the, uh, drugs and less than your ability to actually judge what's actually going on, you know, touch the, you know,
00:29:32
Speaker
be sensitive to changes that are going on. Have you found any improvements since you've been? I wrote to said doctor, I wrote to him as he asked me to last night. And he kindly replied at nine o'clock in the evening. I just thought, well, anyway, I just told him, yeah, I found that I'd just like more energetic, kind of getting stuff done and everything.
00:30:03
Speaker
I told him, you know, no problem with sleeping, no other particular complications, told him that I'd stopped drinking alcohol. But I'm not feeling the cognitive benefits at the moment. All right. So he said, double the dose. All right. So what were you 100? 100. So go out to 100. Go out to 200. See what that does.
00:30:29
Speaker
So if this doesn't work out, cause I'm feeling, I feel like, okay, I've got the energy, blah, blah, blah. I don't feel like I'm sorting out my thoughts any better than I was before, you know, like. Partitioning things better, you know, like a bit kind of like crazy, you know, a hundred thoughts and you know,
00:30:53
Speaker
Have you found there's any difference in how long you can concentrate on something without? Yeah, I can. I never had particular problems with that.
00:31:10
Speaker
on that side of concentration and hyper focus. When I'm on something, I'm really on it, you know, I can stop myself being distracted. My problem is when it's something I'm not interested in. Yeah, that's what I was going to kind of say, you know, on the things that you, you know, are less interested in. Well, I kind of have this week.
00:31:32
Speaker
Yeah. This is a classic I've heard. Like if you're living with a partner and someone's just started taking pills for ADHD and they say, oh yeah, it's not, we have an effect. And the partner's looking at it. Are you fucking kidding me? It's like, I've never known you to be so active and like on it. And do they really see the big difference?
00:31:56
Speaker
Yeah, no, for sure. Like I am the worst at my own self assessing myself and to my wife for a way more accurate kind of assessment of what the hell I'm doing. So even that she can tell if I haven't taken a pill for two days for whatever reason,
00:32:17
Speaker
She'll, she'll, she'll know. Like I won't feel any different, but she'll be like, did you take your pill today? I'm like, no, no, I forgot. So like, we are the worst, worst owned assessors. Yeah. Right. So other people's opinions are definitely taking that. I did go on a 60, 60 kilometer cycle ride and I was actually really performing well.
00:32:46
Speaker
because it does actually have an anti-doping logo.
00:32:51
Speaker
Oh, really? Yeah, yeah. What does that mean? It means that you could take it in sports, or you can't take it in sports. It's a well known sports drug banned by the world. It's banned by the UCI, for example, which is like world cycling. So that's your, so that's your professional cycling career over then? It's totally over. Well, for six months until it's still, it's still in my blood.
00:33:20
Speaker
You can always do an Armstrong and get some blood transfusion. Yeah, exactly. With an Italian doctor as well. Dr. Ferrari, his name was... Oh, wow. That's hilarious. I mean, the right country for what's the best, apparently, the best doping doctor in the world.
00:33:40
Speaker
go to Italy. Yeah. It's like fridges full of blood bags. All right. Um, but it's a lot of love. It's kind of watch this base really. I'm kind of like, well, isn't that what this podcast is? We're going to follow along your journey and mine and, and, and whoever else, uh, you know, uh, jumps on, on board with, with, with this.

Right. Because everyone's so different. Everyone is so different. There's never one, I've never had two stories that are anywhere near similar.
Podcast Goals and Challenges
00:34:14
Speaker
No, I mean, for sure. You know, ADHD is like, it's, I kind of think of it as a little bit like ice cream. You know, there's some core elements that are similar, but then there's so many different varieties of it. Yeah. We'll talk about this because we've actually got,
00:34:32
Speaker
I don't know if you've added them up. I have because I just like adding things up. We're up to 93 episodes at the moment. Spectacular. It's spectacular, isn't it? We're covering so much of this stuff.
00:34:47
Speaker
My goal is, I think our goal is to get to 10 episodes, right? Because, you know, a typical ADHD thing is to get really enthusiastic about the project upfront, right? So we're like, hey, hey, hey, and off we go. And we'll put like a lot of time and effort into it. And then the dopamine starts to wear off and then we're like... So the goal for us is to get to 10 episodes.
00:35:15
Speaker
Yeah. And then we'll set a new goal. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And we're going to use the body doubling system or the accountability thing of, of like, you know, when I start to Wayne, you'll be like pushing me along. I feel accountable to kind of, you know, uh, you know, to kind of keep this thing running and vice versa. Somehow we'll both get to episode 10 and have a little party.
00:35:42
Speaker
Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Yeah, I mean, that's when I'm, when I'm, the difference for me is when I'm hyper focused, I'm, it's, it's for two reasons. When I'm hyper focused, and I really get things done, I'm really on it. I always succeed and I get over the finish line for two reasons. One is I'm really into that project. Second is I'm really scared to let someone down. You know, I like, I kind of like, I like being accountable.
00:36:10
Speaker
you know, because we come up with like, that's the other age ADHD things, you'll come up with really dumb ideas in our head, why we should stop and complete nonsense most of the time.
00:36:23
Speaker
Absolutely. I think this is a good point for us to kind of like draw a line under there and then we'll pick up how you're doing, you know, over the course of, you
Listener Engagement and Feedback
00:36:32
Speaker
know. Yeah. It's all over. It's early doors, early doors. And then it'd be great. I'll get very really interested in on another episode here with yours. Because this is something that people listening to the podcast won't know. So we've been mates for 38, 39 years. We don't actually know very much about each other's
00:36:52
Speaker
ADHD part to each other, which is great. So you kind of like there, you know, um, picking up on our stories the same time as we are about each other is cool. It's really cool. That's what I love about it. All right. So I think we can leave the coffee shop now. We're going to wander back to the town hall, but on our way, sound effects. Have you got sound effects for that?
00:37:20
Speaker
What, for us? For leaving. For sure. Sure. Let's just jump into our car again and then we're going to pop off and just go to the post office.
00:37:44
Speaker
sounding good like a Ferrari. Nice. Yeah, it was a bit like a Ferrari. So yeah, this is the first episode of course, but down the line, obviously your feedback is going to be really, really vital to our cause. And we're going to welcome all your stories and when we can, we'll be commenting on your stories, giving you feedback. And hopefully, not even hopefully, we will be including
00:38:14
Speaker
as a feature, regular feature on our podcast, any, you know, the more interesting stuff. But yeah, I can't emphasize enough that that's really, really important to us. And actually, we're looking forward to it too. It's gonna be great. Absolutely. All right.
00:38:29
Speaker
So you say you're expecting a truck load of responses. Yeah, exactly. Anyway, thanks for being here. Truck load of responses.
