This week’s episode is all about “mom fails” — the moments when we’ve felt like we totally dropped the ball. Some are hilarious (like the time my child put the screw cap from the side of the toilet in her mouth… why, child?!) and some are the kind that keep us up at night.

We also talk about the role mom brain plays in all of this — the mental load, the forgetfulness, the constant juggling — and how it can leave us feeling like we’re always one step behind. Spoiler: you're not alone in that.

This episode is really about unburdening the guilt. Because even in the chaos, the screw-cap moments, and the forgetful fog of mom brain, we are still good moms. And we always will be.

Tune in for the stories, the laughter, the honesty — and a reminder that you’re doing better than you think.

Introduction to the Mom Group Chat Podcast

00:00:07
Speaker
There's no right way to do it.
00:00:12
Speaker
Oh, we're going to get into it. What up moms? My name is Candice and I'm here with my best friend, Whitney. And this is the mom group chat podcast. What up players?
00:00:23
Speaker
I have makeup on today. don't. it What's new? Will I ever get it together?

Does Makeup Reflect Being Put Together?

00:00:31
Speaker
No. Okay, I need to say something. Having makeup on doesn't always mean you're put together. Because I am a little bit all over the place today and I have makeup on.
00:00:42
Speaker
So, no, I don't know. When I have makeup on, I'm conquering the world. Like, that that means there's something to do. Yeah, I i the like being fully transparent.

The Old Car Embarrassment

00:00:57
Speaker
The only reason I put on makeup was because I got a new car and I had to go finish the paperwork and i just didn't want them thinking I was like a ratchet biatch. So i just felt like I couldn't go to the car dealership signing a bunch of papers.
00:01:17
Speaker
They're like, not this hobo getting in the car today. No, literally. No, actually, I need to tell y'all, this is so embarrassing. This is like one of the most... Actually, this kind of ties into the episode because I feel like this was a little bit of a mom fail, honestly.
00:01:31
Speaker
But so I went there on... um i Sorry, I went there yesterday and I thought I was going to do all the paperwork I did not know that they were going to like take my car at that moment. I don't know. Like my old car.
00:01:50
Speaker
So for those of you that don't know, I've had the same Kia Optima sedan since 2016. Okay. ah It has been paid off since, I don't know. haven't had a car payment and we've been riding that puppy as long as we could right until the wheels come off. Okay.
00:02:05
Speaker
And It was just having problem after problem. We knew that as soon as we got settled into the house, like our next big thing was going to be to make sure that I could get a new mom car. So I get there and they're like immediately like you guys, they jumped on my old car like it was being processed and sold today. Like, and when I tell you it was the dirtiest it's ever been like,
00:02:31
Speaker
shit everywhere. Like, uh, I can't even, I don't even know how to describe it. Crumbs everywhere. Pirates booty everywhere. Like, like old papers, old mail. I still had like art that we had saved from our old house in the trunk. It was like, and all of a sudden I look up and there's like three guys opening up all the doors of my car to like start to work on it. And I was like, Oh wait, hold on.
00:02:59
Speaker
I was like, I'm so sorry. am not normally this messy. And they were like, it's fine. And I was like, I'm so sorry. I have two kids. I have two toddlers. And they're just, you know, always doing crazy shit back here. And I'm like trying to justify myself of like, why my car is so messy. It's always like this.
00:03:19
Speaker
It's not always like this. um Yes, it is. was not prepared. To clean before the house cleaners come. And when I like, it's actually like I sound so stupid because when I say like, I'm going to sign the papers to get a new car.
00:03:35
Speaker
Why wouldn't they take my old car that day? Like that makes no sense to me. But i I don't know. I've never done this, right? I mean, sheesh.

Excitement Over the New GMC Yukon

00:03:45
Speaker
I really I've only bought one car in my whole life and it was back in 2016 because my first car was given to me like by my parents when I was like in high school and then I didn't have a car between 2012 and 2016 because I lived in New York City and like didn't need one so this is only my second experience buying it it's been a long time so I just I didn't know I don't know
00:04:10
Speaker
But I got a mom car and it's so nice. I got a GMC Yukon. It's ginormous. um But I'm kind of loving it Everybody watch out. Oh, we're going to go there.
00:04:27
Speaker
Huh? We're going to go there. huh we're gonna go there Wow. be hopping curbs, y'all. She be hopping curbs. I swear to God, Whitney, I only do that when you're in the car. It's like I make you nervous.
00:04:44
Speaker
No, really. It's like, I know you always say something about me hitting the curbs. And now I'm like, whenever you're in the car, I hit the curbs. Candace always is like, you make me nervous. or she's like, I don't even notice I do it until I say something. I'm like, Candace.
00:05:01
Speaker
Well, now in my big giant bus, I can definitely take a curb or two. Oh my god. ah Please tell me when you do. oh It's so funny. I do it too. People are like actually scared scared to ride with me because I have quite the road rage, especially like downtown Nashville.
00:05:19
Speaker
I'm like, get out of my way. Like a pedestrian hates to see me coming. Yeah. Oh my god. Okay, that's so scary.
00:05:31
Speaker
Oh, I can't help it. It's just... Get out of my way. But when I'm a pedestrian... You're like, ah you'll wait for me. It's like, I know better than everyone.
00:05:44
Speaker
What's wrong with me? Oh my God. that is funny. I, um yeah. I mean, I could definitely take, take someone out in this car. Let me tell you, um i have so much room.
00:05:55
Speaker
have so much room for activities. Like we can fit like truly. i'm I'm like, oh, we could have another baby. It's fine. We could totally have another baby. We could fit a whole third car seat in here and still fit like three more people in the third row.
00:06:11
Speaker
Yeah, my friend Alyssa drives a Yukon and I rode in

Girls' Night Out Adventures

00:06:15
Speaker
it on Friday. We had like a girls night and my friend, we all live like within 10 minutes of each other. yeah. my friend Kathleen Ubered to my house because Alyssa was like, I'm not going to drink. I'll drive.
00:06:27
Speaker
We convinced her to drink. Don't worry. But... She had a Yukon and I sat in the third row in the very back and I was like, this is nice. Even though I couldn't hear freaking thing. It was so far away. I was like, if for me you need like that intercom to the back seat. Yeah. Buzz in. But, um, that thing is huge. It was nice though.
00:06:51
Speaker
It's so nice. I'm, I'm loving it so far. I mean, it's only been like a couple days, but feels good to not be in a tiny sedan that has like been run into the ground, literally. So bring on the car payments.
00:07:07
Speaker
And that's so funny. Yeah, that's great. um I'm so sorry about that, but it's worth it. It's worth it. It's worth it. It's worth it. It's needed. Much needed.
00:07:20
Speaker
<unk>t I was going to say, like I feel like I haven't done too much other than like me talking about the girls' night and how much it was so needed. like Isn't that the case like every time? i came off of like a kind of a long week at work. I had gone to the players' golf tournament on Thursday. It was, like like I said, a whim.
00:07:39
Speaker
And I came back Friday so exhausted, but I had already had this girls' night planned. And ah literally... I laid on the couch until 4.45 and like my friend Kathleen was coming to my house at 5.15. And I like peeled myself off the couch and was like, get it together. And I like slapped my face and like threw on makeup.
00:07:59
Speaker
And then it just ended up being... So fun. Like she walked in like jazzed up, ready to go. And so then like my energies matched hers. And I was like, do we have a drink before Alyssa gets here? So then we just started having wine and I'm showing her all the new stuff in my new house.
00:08:15
Speaker
And it just got like more and more fun. And we went to this like fancy Mexican restaurant where I would like to announce my new vegetable of the year I tried. but oh what is it Corn on the cob. but Whitney, you're fucking joking.
00:08:36
Speaker
You've never had shit on the cob? Well, it was Mexican street corn on the cob, which was even more delish. Corn on the cob? No, Candace. Let me speak my truth.
00:08:47
Speaker
Candace. so Okay, proceed. I tried corn on the cob and I have not stopped thinking about it
00:08:58
Speaker
And, you know, I would have normally like never, ever, ever tried it. But I was with three other girls and I wasn't going to be the loser who didn't eat the corn on the cob. And then I was like, whoa, guys, this is really fucking good. Now I understand why everyone likes Mexican street corn.
00:09:14
Speaker
I'm not kidding. I have not stopped talk talk talking about it, thinking about it. I looked it up. It can be delivered to my house. So oo I'm going to get it at some point. like Okay. Wait.
00:09:26
Speaker
i have so many questions. Have you ever had corn off the cob? I just recently started liking it um like two years ago. This is why I felt like kind of safe to try it. Yeah, corn also is like, it's a vegetable, but it's also like a starchy vegetable. You know what i mean? Like it's a starch.
00:09:44
Speaker
It's kind of sweet. It is sweet. I wasn't expecting that. Yeah, yeah. Okay, you need to go to Bar Taco and have the the street corn, but I get it off the cob just so I can eat it with a spoon, and it's so good. oh my God. It's probably tastes similar. I mean, I'm only assuming this was my force my first corn cap.
00:10:05
Speaker
um But wow, I'm into it. And oh my God, the margaritas. I mean, it was just hitting, right? And like, you know, you have one and you got that good... Buzz.
00:10:16
Speaker
I sound like an alcoholic, especially after that spring break episode. But it was just so fun. Like, I only drink wine usually. So, like, Amarg sent me to the moon, basically.
00:10:27
Speaker
And then we went out after for, like, some drinks. And I just felt so hip and, like, in the know. Like, I'm hanging out in Nashville. Like, I'm so... So into like, I want a girls night with you.
00:10:39
Speaker
Well, yeah, that sounds so fun. It was like, honestly, so fun. And I felt so energized. And it was so nice. Oh, my God. You are the friend that like, when I see with other people, I'm immediately like, who are they?
00:10:54
Speaker
and you know all i should be there i know and like i love all of those people i really do but i'm like that should be me holding your hand that should be me literally that's i'm like i want to be with you all the time no i can um i can relate to that sentiment um especially if you're like out having fun how dare you without me Yeah, I know. It's not allowed. Like, i that's why we need to live in the same state. I'm still mad at Vinny for not and letting me. It was like, that was the first inkling ever heard felt that we'd live next to each other again. Wow. It could still happen one day. it could still happen one day.
00:11:37
Speaker
Who knows? Maybe we'll share a condo in Florida one day and y'all can like take care of it, but we pay for it and we have some stuff. Like we go down. Totally. timeshare or not a timeshare. Well, just like a condo share where. Yeah. Yeah. I would like that.
00:11:54
Speaker
i would be That's on my vision board for sure. Yeah. One day, one day. We'll be like 50. It's fine. and The kids will be in college.
00:12:05
Speaker
Honestly. Yeah. You know, it's weird. I listen. Oh, go ahead. No, no, Mine's not interesting. I was going to say. Go ahead. This is so weird of

Changing Perspectives on Aging

00:12:17
Speaker
me. But like when I was thinking back of when we graduated college, like my mom was, I think, 50, 51, 52. I don't know.
00:12:25
Speaker
fifty one fifty two i don't know And I thought, man, her her days are over, you know? And, like, just being 50. And now I'm like, that's kind of close.
00:12:37
Speaker
Yeah, yeah. Totally. And I'm like... Oh my God. She, and I like look back at pictures and she looks so young at my graduation and college and she was so fun. And I was like, no wonder like her kid, with her, all her kids were grown up. She was like finally able to like bust out and do whatever the hell she wanted, you know?
00:12:58
Speaker
And I'm like, well, the things you don't realize of your parent until you are one. I also tell my mom all the time, like, okay, my mom is six. She's about to turn 63, 64. I don't know.
00:13:14
Speaker
It's one of the two. mean, so your mom was in her forties when you graduated. Yeah. Wow. yeah Yeah. So she always acts like her life is over. like she's I'm like, Mom, you still have good years ahead of you. like You have so much to live for. like get Put your party pants on and like take care of yourself so that you can like go out and do And also, like, as her kids, us and my brothers, like, we keep growing and keep, like, gaining success and stuff. Like, we're we're going to bring her along for the ride. You know what i mean? Like, and we have kids and go on vacations. Like, I want her to, like, be able to hang and, like, you know.
00:13:58
Speaker
Couldn't be my mom. My God. she You mean, yeah well, your mom's already there. Your mom's hanging. No. yeah that's what i'm saying like my mom's like gung-ho she's like my she's like i'm 30 and but the rest of my life yeah yeah yeah she she's gung-ho she says her favorite age where her 40s i've heard that so often recently but it's also when most of your friends get divorced that's crazy Yeah, it's like everyone's kids are grown up a little.
00:14:33
Speaker
i don't know. ah That's just like statistically. I know numbers that I can pull from that makes it a factual thing. But i've just what I've heard, forty s is like the divorce-y time.
00:14:47
Speaker
I feel like if Vinny and I were ever going to get divorced, it like would have been in the last six months. So you were about to say, if Vinny and I were going to get divorced, it'd be in our forty s for sure.
00:14:58
Speaker
Oh, no no, no. It would have been like if we can get through the past six months, like we can get through anything. Like I really believe that. And already our life is so much better since being in this house. Like our relationship is better for the most part.
00:15:10
Speaker
And so I feel like if we can get through the past six months, we can get through anything. Honestly. It's a wonder what stability will do for your mental health. oh So I feel you on that.
00:15:24
Speaker
Well, I've been excited about today's episode because i've been it's been like on my episode list for a while. because and Well, it's been on my episode list for a while, and I've been keeping track in my notes app of some recent mom fails. so I'm so glad because my mom fail of the day is that I did not prepare ah single thing. That's okay. Yeah.
00:15:54
Speaker
I have enough mom fails to go around. Honestly, I've been really fucking up recently. Like if I got a mom report card, I wonder what my grade would be That's a good question. i don't want to know.
00:16:14
Speaker
ah wonder what funny. What are the criteria? Like what are we getting? Yeah. What are the subjects? Yeah. Ooh. Okay. Oh, wait.
00:16:26
Speaker
Wait, this is a really good question. I feel like one of them would be like patience. and Okay. Okay. And then there would just be like general caretaking. Like, do you feed them? Do you change their clothes? Like change their diapers? Like just caretaking.
00:16:43
Speaker
And then... Like, would like learning and like teaching be a subject?
00:16:54
Speaker
I guess so. And gym. I'd get an A plus in gym with that. Yeah, yeah. Like physical activity. Yeah, like playing. I'm like a B minus probably in that, honestly.
00:17:07
Speaker
i would say my overall mom score, like my overall mom grade is probably a solid B. i see that. You know, like I'm not a bad mom. I'm not even an average mom. I'm an above average mom because average mom would be C, right?
00:17:24
Speaker
I'm not like the greatest. I'm not in the A's, but I'm good. I'm a B. I don't know what I am. um I don't know.
00:17:36
Speaker
I agree. I feel like, I feel like you're, I feel like we're similar. Like we're in the, if anything, I feel like you're better than me, honestly. Like, i feel like you're probably, god please I feel like you're a B plus or an A minus.
00:17:50
Speaker
yeahre I mean, we're all doing a good job, but that is a fun experiment. We should bring that back up on it. Yeah. We'll do chat. re God, chat, GBT, PT.
00:18:01
Speaker
God. Yeah. but Are you okay?
00:18:07
Speaker
We'll pull up like what a mom would be graded on. and we could have a little survey and we can do a test on our Instagram polls and like they can pick how they are. Oh my god Fun.
00:18:21
Speaker
Yeah, that's fun. Okay. And then by, it's like a little Cosmo quiz. Right. Where you can fill in your grades. Okay. ah okay Perfect. Perfect. i love this so much um yeah i don't know i it's just been like i feel so spread thin recently and like so all over the place i've had some bad fails recently and i i want this to be light-hearted and funny like i'm not talking about like real shit here i'm
00:18:53
Speaker
You know what I mean? I'm going to give you an yeah ER visit. not Yeah. that This is not an ER. I mean, like, that's just those things are going to happen. Like we have kids who are testing with their like gambling with their life every day. Like it's going to happen.
00:19:09
Speaker
I'm talking about like, for example, like, And this was back when we were still living with my mom. But Evie was like obsessed with going in the bathroom. We always tried to keep the bathroom door shut because she would she was obsessed with going in the bathroom.

Toddler's Mischief and Parenting Chaos

00:19:25
Speaker
But of course, it inevitably inevitably gets left. The door gets left open. And so she'll go in there and she would do one of two things. She would either play with the drawers in the vanity, which she would get her fingers caught on. And that's like, math you know, standard. last The other thing that she was obsessed with was the toilet. But it was not what you would think with the toilet. It was not like the lid or the water or like anything like that.
00:19:52
Speaker
Do you know how like the bolts that drill the toilet onto the ground? Margot likes the round, the cap. Cap. Margot likes the cap. And I need to say, like, I love my mother so much. And if you're listening to this, mom, I love you so much. But I think that you would agree with this. She's like not the best at like cleaning. Like she just is spreading. Well, who cleans the bolt on the toilet?
00:20:16
Speaker
Until you have kids. I would have never noticed that in my life. Yeah. I mean, there was at least once I walked in there and Evie had the bolt, the bolt cover in her mouth completely, like completely in. Oh, yeah.
00:20:29
Speaker
Yep. Like that. yeah It must be a universal kid. That should not be in your mouth at all. ma'am. It's like everything in their mouth era. It's so annoying.
00:20:43
Speaker
It's so annoying. And one thing that we've been dealing with since moving into this house, obviously we have a lot of boxes and stuff to unpack and like new furniture, which comes like in cardboard and like has styrofoam, you know, like inside.
00:20:55
Speaker
And even if you are as clean as possible, there inevitably is like little pieces of styrofoam that like end up everywhere. Evie is obsessed with finding the styrofoam and eating it. And I'm like, please, child, stop eating the styrofoam. Like, it's insane.
00:21:14
Speaker
I feel like the number one thing with being a top toddler mom is the anticipation of what you know your kid's going to do. Like, you know your kid likes the bolt in the toilet, so you have to keep the door door shut. Like, I know Margo's obsessed with unrolling the toilet paper. So so is Evie.
00:21:33
Speaker
So if the door's open and I see her go in there, I have to react pretty quickly or that shit's all pulled out. Like, it's like... You're playing the mind reader game and I am a Jedi.
00:21:46
Speaker
And I feel like that's something that we learn every single day. And I have to say, i'm speaking for my husband here.
00:21:57
Speaker
My husband is not as good at like predicting the things. They're not with them as much as we are. oh It's like he can't realize that if they're coming into my office here that they are I know exactly what they're going for in here.
00:22:12
Speaker
and Or if I know that I need a minute to like poop or something and I have to leave them unattended in the living room, like I know exactly what I need to move and pick up in order for them to be safely in here for two minutes while I poop yep exactly but i will say he is he is number two though like and then my mom's number three like of best knowing and then after that point you kind of have to start explaining everything and it's like all right let me make a list type thing it's kind of like the babysitter situation but yeah he's good but not as good you know yeah
00:22:51
Speaker
I don't know. Vinny's not as good. don't know. He knows like the dog bowls are a big one. Like Evie's obsessed with drinking the dog water.
00:23:02
Speaker
For example. Literally. have Oh, well. here's my mom fail. We have a water table outside cause it's finally getting warm and the same water has been in there for four days. So it's like sitting still water.
00:23:17
Speaker
They're just sucking it down. Like fricking dogs. Like, Oh my God, they'll fill up a little water pail and just gulp, gulp, gulp. I'm like, Oh, my God. I'm sure there's like fly wings and dirt and like no telling what kind of bacteria is grown in that.
00:23:32
Speaker
And I'm just like, I want to puke. And I'm like, oh, my God, don't do that. And Grayton's all, why? Why? that's his whole thing now like yeah we've entered the bug poops in it like bugs kind of scare him ever since he got stung by the bee so he's kind of scared of bugs a little bit so we just tell him that there's bug poop and that freaks him out and he's like okay I'll stop but but here's here's a way that like Chris doesn't anticipate how Graydon's gonna react he had worked some um at work last night and came home and he brought up
00:24:08
Speaker
the water balloons. And I go, why? Because then Graydon, all he had in his head, i want to go play outside. It was 730 at night. And I was like, Chris, you cannot bring up yeah the shiny new toy you just bought him and y'all played in all afternoon. Oh, I was just like, Graydon threw a fit.
00:24:28
Speaker
His three-year-old fit. was like, I said, why did you bring that up? He goes, oh, sorry, I can't talk about water balloons. I'm like, dude. You can't, you gotta know these things.
00:24:41
Speaker
Oh, I had a bad mom fail over the weekend. Um, Evie still sits like Evie sits in a high chair to eat, obviously, and she can stand up in there. She gets up all the time. If you do not strap her in, she is going to stand up in her high chair.
00:24:58
Speaker
And there's been one other, other time where I forgot to strap her in. I swear to you, I walked away for 20 seconds. I swear. I walked to come around, fill up the water cup. I was gone 20 seconds.
00:25:14
Speaker
And I came back and she was sitting crisscross applesauce on the tray of her high chair. and she looked she looked so proud of me.
00:25:26
Speaker
Like, so... Or, sorry. She looked so proud of herself. She was like... Look, look what I did. And I was like, oh my God. And Vinny and I actually were dying laughing because it was so funny. um But over the weekend, I sat her down and I was obviously like all over the place. My brain's all over the place.
00:25:46
Speaker
I forgot to strap her in. I sat her down. I was like doing a bunch of things at once. And Vinny and i were in the kitchen and I hear boom. And she toppled over.
00:25:59
Speaker
her high chair fell out of her high chair, luckily onto the carpet, like onto the rug. um Oh, I felt so bad. i felt so bad. And I felt so stupid of being like, what is wrong with you? You know that she stands up. Like, why didn't you just take the 20 seconds to buckle her in Like, what were you thinking?
00:26:22
Speaker
and Oh God, I was just so mad at myself. She was fine. She literally cried for 10 seconds and then was totally fine. And she had a little like rug burn on her oh forehead, but it she was totally fine.
00:26:37
Speaker
Vinny was like all worried. was like, i mean is she okay? As like a second time mom, I don't even consider these mom fails. Is that wrong? Like, I'm just like, well, that's just a day in my life.
00:26:49
Speaker
time
00:26:52
Speaker
Honestly, that makes me feel better. Are failing? Because I feel like I fail every day, Mom feels so funny because I'm just like, whatever. They're just feral right now. And they're exploring. Like, um you know, we never have had a gate on our stairs. And Margo's really good at like, getting up and down the stairs. Like, I don't even have to be around anymore because she'll go on her belly. We'll be like, on your belly. And she just, like, flies down them like a freaking slide. And now recently, though, she's wanting to go down holding the rail and goes one by one. So now I'm kind of having to, like,
00:27:27
Speaker
be around her again because she's fallen a few times and it's like I don't realize she's on the freaking stairs and then I hear like and I'm like oh shit she's learning and I'm like you're fine it's carpeted it is how they learn you know and i don't know i just feel like mom fails Okay, actually, this I consider more of a mom fail than all those things. Like, I was thinking... Actually, this might have been the instance of what where I thought about this topic and I thought about this episode.
00:28:05
Speaker
And it was Valentine's day So Alice is in a little school and she... They were having a Valentine's party and they each of the kids had to bring in Valentine's and okay, in my defense, we were moving on Valentine's Day. Like we the whole week leading up to Valentine's Day was like truly one of the busiest weeks of our lives. We were finalizing things with the house.
00:28:30
Speaker
We were packing up to move like there was so much going on. The night before the Valentine's party, all the moms in the group school group chat are like talking about their Valentine's. And it was nine o'clock at night. And I just had this moment of being like, fuck, I forgot to print. You know what's so crazy about this too is I even made them. I made them in Canva.
00:28:53
Speaker
I made them. And I didn't even print them. I forgot to print them and forgot to cut them out and all that. And I was just like, God, what the fuck is wrong with me? Like, I can't. follow through on anything. i just, and I felt so bad that felt like a true mom fail for me. It's like, God, I can't even remember.
00:29:12
Speaker
and like, as someone who I feel like I had some moments like that when I was a child where my mom would like forget to send me with things or like whatever. And I hated that. I hated being a kid that like was unprepared for something.
00:29:27
Speaker
And I just had this, like the, probably the biggest mom guilt I've felt so far. I just was like, God, how did I drop the ball on that? Like, you are so busy. Like, you've got to give yourself grace in that moment. You literally just moved. I, I'm not kidding. Like Graydon's been in daycare for...
00:29:47
Speaker
two and a half three years now and I never did valentine's until this year like I just felt like I didn't have the capacity or the time and I'm normally that I'm a very holiday forward thinker I love a holiday I love decorating like my house like after he was born I mean he was like what he wasn't in daycare that first time The second time i was pregnant with Margo or whatever. And I was like, I'm too tired. i don't want to do this.
00:30:16
Speaker
And then I finally got to this year. But man, people go all out. Talk about. Wow. Like people and ah go all out on Valentine's. Like it's kind of crazy. All the like little chachkis and stuff people get now. Yeah.
00:30:31
Speaker
I don't know. i just felt kind of inferior on Valentine's Day as a

Holiday Pressures and Missed Moments

00:30:35
Speaker
whole. Like i just, and but it was just the phase of our life. Like we were moving that day. There was something. zero romance between Vinny and i There was zero planning or love between me and my kids as far like Valentine's Day just didn't exist this year for us.
00:30:52
Speaker
And shout out to Minnie's mom, Paige, who in the group chat, I was like really honest with the moms. I was like, oh my God, I'm so sorry. i forgot.
00:31:03
Speaker
valentine's and i was like she was so nice she she texted me and was like girl i have extra like we only needed 11 so i'm like she's like i've got extras i'll write alice's name on them no big deal so mom to the rescue honestly wow that was so nice um she's so nice um love that but you're like watch out fucking halloween i'm gonna be a trunk or treat up in this bitch in my yukon Show them up, Candice. You're canice you write You're so right. That's on the to-do list for this for this upcoming year.
00:31:39
Speaker
Trunk or treat, and I'm going to go all out I feel like I'm finally able to participate in that. like For me, the past two years to not participate in trunk or treat, that's where I'm going to shine my best.
00:31:51
Speaker
That's my thing. like Why haven't I done that? I've felt overwhelmed because yeah my kids' birthdays are back-to-back, and it's like my birthday and Chris's. But this year... Let's go. Let's do it.
00:32:03
Speaker
Well, I think that's a good point to talk about. And that is just like choosing the things you can and can't take on. like And Valentine's Day this year, just...
00:32:16
Speaker
wasn't in the docket for me. And just like how you were said, like I wasn't able to do that those past years. It doesn't make me any less of a mom. It just wasn't, I couldn't prioritize that. But now coming up, I'm going to choose to like lean into that more and do that. And that it is so important to remember that like, even as things as little as holidays, like there's seasons for that kind of thing.
00:32:40
Speaker
And like there are seasons where you're going to go all in and like do all the things and overachieve And there's seasons where you hang back and you let Susie's mom take, take the reins and decorate her car and you just get to show up, you know?
00:32:56
Speaker
I like, i kind of like just showing up. Cause I, I feel like with my job, like my work job for a long time, I was the entertainer. Mm-hmm. it's been really nice to take that backseat and just enjoy as like a 30-year-old. Like when I was in my 20s, I was like very much the planner. And so now it's like, you know I don't have to be that person right now.
00:33:22
Speaker
Yeah. just so It's a lot of energy. Yeah. No, I totally hear you. It's just been... It's been crazy. And I i know we talk we honestly kind of talked about this in previous past couple episodes, but like my brain is just all over the place. still...
00:33:41
Speaker
i still I don't know. I don't know if it's the two kids. I don't know if I still am like technically postpartum, even though I'm a year. i don't know. I still have like crazy brain fog and like I still don't feel as put together and as like organized and like clear as I should.
00:34:02
Speaker
I feel Yeah. I mean, she's still one, you know? I mean, she just turned one. Like, it takes forever. And you just move. Like, I think you will feel a shift in the next six months. Like, you settling into your new home, um your kids getting older. Like, it's just um that shift is coming.
00:34:24
Speaker
i hope so. i need a shift. Please. I really do. So I have been trying to like do some things to basically like improve my mental health and feel a little bit more on top of things and reduce that brain fog.

Magic Mind Supplements for Mental Clarity

00:34:43
Speaker
We talk about stuff on here all the time, like preparing ahead of time and like, you know, packing lunches, getting water cups together the night before. And that stuff is like so game changing for me. Right.
00:34:56
Speaker
Especially in these times where like we're still in packing in this house like I still don't quite know where everything is and so doing that all of that stuff but something else I've been doing is I've been taking these magic mind mental performance shots I texted you about this do you remember okay they're like these little shots and It's basically like something to help your mental sharpness and reduce your stress.
00:35:21
Speaker
One of my New Year's resolutions was to like take more supplements and like take better care of myself and, you know, just add in some things that are only going to like enhance my life. I found these Magic Minds mental performance shots and they help with focus and clarity, a sharper mind, less stress.
00:35:39
Speaker
um And they're like an energy source. They're like a clean energy source. And let me tell you, they really work. Like, I have been taking them for over a week now and I've noticed a huge difference. Like I feel like I'm sharper. i can stay like on task.
00:35:57
Speaker
After you texted me about it, I ordered some just because I feel like sometimes I need something just to get my day started. if yeah if I'm not like...
00:36:08
Speaker
sitting at my computer immediately to work on something. Like, I'm going to be distracted. but like, after you told me that you started taking that to, like, for Sharpness, like, exclusively, I was like, okay, let me try this. So I ordered them too.
00:36:24
Speaker
If you have, like, mom brain, I highly recommend checking them out because it just, like... clears the fog a little bit, makes you a little more focused, gives you some clean energy. and I don't know, it just, it also just feels good to be doing something that's like for your mental health, your mental health, like mental wellness.
00:36:46
Speaker
It just makes me feel like, okay, this is like a concrete thing I can take. That's going to make me feel better throughout the day, which no, I'm so excited to try it. And then like, hopefully get more updates on you on how you feel with it too. So yeah i I'll let you know when I get it.
00:37:03
Speaker
Oh, and I forgot to tell you, i have a discount that gets you 20% off a single purchase or 28% off a subscription. So um you can use my code MOMGC20 or go to the link www.magicmind.com slash MOMGC.
00:37:19
Speaker
Are there any new habits that you've picked up that kind of like help with the clarity and the overwhelm and just like kind of feeling like you're scrambled egg brain?
00:37:30
Speaker
e Well, yeah, I've been, you know, ever since we've been groundhogging, I've been going on a daily walk. And actually, my boss encourages us to take our one-on-one calls on the phone if we have them scheduled during the week.
00:37:46
Speaker
Because it's so nice to just like clear your mind and go on a walk and get outside. And it kind of just recharges me. Wait, so she'll do your one-on-one call while you're walking?
00:37:58
Speaker
While we're both walking, we'll go on a walk and talk. Wait, that's so nice. Snaps for your boss. Oh, my gosh. That's so nice. We're all about mental health over here. So um actually, i will brag on my company. They sent out an email this morning that they are now purchasing car seats for expensive expectant mothers.
00:38:20
Speaker
Wow, that's a serious, like, amazing undertaking right there. that's i was like, whoa, that's freaking awesome. Like, yeah, I passed that like stage in my life, but, like, I'm very impressed with that coming out. i was like, okay.
00:38:39
Speaker
Go you. Go us. I'm loving that. But anyway, yeah. So um I'd say like walking. um And then, yeah, like I said, I ordered those supplements. So I'm excited to try that and start my day with like off in a good mental state. So looking forward to it.
00:38:58
Speaker
Hell yeah. It's especially like I'm trying to soak up every bit of this nice weather before it turns into the bubble the devil's butt crack here. so i love that's how you describe Tampa.
00:39:10
Speaker
It really is. In that like in the like end of May to September, devil's butt crack. that's Also, I'm going to need- Don't she's butt crack?
00:39:21
Speaker
Because she's from there. I love her. I'll live in there any day. I know. it's like And it's nicer. She's gorgeous. Oh, my God. I'm obsessed. I really am. She's like all of the Fashion Week stuff. Oh, I'm like queen.
00:39:36
Speaker
Oh, I mean, she I love someone wrote or said like that is a A-list celebrity. Like the way she looked, it was like everyone else. <unk> And it's like she came out and you're like, oh,
00:39:48
Speaker
Oh my Yeah. She like takes your breath away for real. Glamour. Glamour. Oh my God. She's the kind of person I i always think about, um, Phineas, like Billie Eilish's brother, um when he was on the Armchair Expert podcast, he talked about like that Billie has like she has that like X factor like star thing. She was like and the way he described it is like the air gets crackly in the room when she's in it. Like it's just that she has like some like star power energy that is so like it takes your breath away.
00:40:20
Speaker
And I kind of feel like that's I'm not even in the same room as Dochi, but I'm like, I know that's how it would feel. you know Why did I get chills? I got chills.
00:40:31
Speaker
um You sang that because I thought she was in the room. And I was like, if she was in the room with me, that's how I i got chills. Oh my god. I love her You know who kind of felt like had that?
00:40:46
Speaker
Shannon. Oh, 1000%. 1000%. I'll never forget. like ah we Whenever I went out to a bar with her or like we went out, like I've definitely talked about this before. like like she gets she would get her. Yeah.
00:41:04
Speaker
dared at like the people are just like in awe of her I once had a guy ask me to move out of the way so he could see my friend. So
00:41:17
Speaker
love that for me. That's mean. odd I joked about it all the time. And Shannon would always be like, stop, stop. And I'm like, no, really? He was like, excuse me, can you move? I really want to see your friend. Like he literally said that to me. I was like,
00:41:31
Speaker
Love that. Oh my god I think I told him no. I was like, no. And not even because I was interested because you if you're going to date my friend, you're not going to talk to me like that.
00:41:43
Speaker
Yeah. You're done. You lost your privilege. Yeah. I could have been your wing woman and now I'm your worst enemy. Yeah. Sorry. That's so funny. Oh my God. But ah no, but she did. She definitely had like, she was like breathtaking and like just magnetic for sure.
00:42:01
Speaker
Speaking of, i don't know that I've told you this, and i don't I wasn't really planning on telling this podcast, but here we

Anticipation for a Medium Reading

00:42:07
Speaker
are. um i have a reading with a medium tomorrow. Oh, my God.
00:42:13
Speaker
Are you nervous? Yeah. Am I nervous? Yes. know. I almost said nervous, and I was like, they don't know what I mean. I'm nervous. um Which equals so nervous for everyone.
00:42:25
Speaker
We used to say I'm nervous, and I'm... ah But also excited. I'm excited. I'm interested to see like how it goes. like it's i'll like i kind of want i've Obviously, like I booked it because I want to hear from Shannon, but I booked it. She's going to talk to you.
00:42:44
Speaker
or But I also want to hear from my dad. yeah my God. What they're just fighting over to talk to you? It's a whole 60 minutes. So I'm like, they're...
00:42:57
Speaker
i I assume that we'll cover a lot in 60 minutes. So I um i purchased the like recording of it. So I'll be able to record the whole thing. So I'll share with you guys if anyone's interested. but um and And also, if this isn't your thing, like it just you know I am choosing to do it, but like I know it's not everyone's thing.
00:43:22
Speaker
But, you know, it is what it is. Oh, my God. That's going to be kind of exciting. wow I'm excited. i think like, what I would love to hear is mean, I'd love to hear so many things, but I'd love to hear that they, like, are together in some capacity. Like, that they've, like I don't know. my my dad's been up there for a while, so I feel like i my hope is that he would show her around or something. i don't know. that be It would be funny if they're like, we have two entities coming through and they're arm wrestling on who can talk to you first.
00:43:59
Speaker
yes Well, it's so funny. Like, cause the, this medium, ah friend, like actually, I don't, a friend of a friend of a friend had a reading with this medium.
00:44:11
Speaker
And, um, she, the way she like started the call was like, Who like what are you hoping to get out of it? Like who are you hoping to hear from? And like what I plan to say is like I've lost a lot of important people in my life, like two in particular that I would love to hear from.
00:44:28
Speaker
But like when I think about like my grandmother, Alice, and like my papa, and like I've lost like all of my grandparents pretty much except for one. And of course my dad and then bear who is a very, very good friend of mine who Shannon and I very close friend who passed away back in 2014, like 10 days before my dad died. So I don't know. There's just so many possibilities of people I could hear from. So I can't wait to talk to you tomorrow.
00:44:58
Speaker
Yeah. I'm excited. I hope it's all good things. I think it'll be good. I'm not, I'm going into it with like pure happy energy and not like sad energy. Like I truly just hope that it will make like make me feel warm and fuzzy is my hope and not, you know what i mean?
00:45:17
Speaker
I'm sure.
00:45:19
Speaker
yeah, I'm excited. too. We'll see.
00:45:25
Speaker
But yeah, that's pretty much it. i I hope that ah my report card stays clean for at least this quarter, the rest of this quarter. i cannot wait to do that. And I just want everyone to know, C's get degrees, people. Do not be ashamed on what you get, okay?
00:45:42
Speaker
Yeah. yeah Honestly, like, and also I think

The Mom Report Card

00:45:47
Speaker
it's a day-to-day thing. Like if I'm having a hungover mom day, like my report card's a D. D for drunk.
00:45:56
Speaker
and F is for like, fuck off, I can't deal with these kids. F is for the I don't want a mom today days. Oh, yeah. Been there. So I just think every day could be a different day, but...
00:46:10
Speaker
a here's to no more mom fails, um, this week or this month. And I love you guys. I love you. Okay. Bye.
00:46:21
Speaker

00:46:32
