Speaker: Well, hello and welcome to this week's episode of the Purple Door Podcast, a friend's rewatch pod. I'm one of your hosts, Alistair, alongside Deanne. Deanne, how are you this evening?

Speaker: i am doing great, Al. Thanks so much. How are you? Fantastic. Yeah, we are doing well. It has been a busy weekend, but with just stuff, nothing exceptionally exciting. um But I go back to sort of officially go back to work tomorrow. So I'm kind of excited, ready to see my people and and get back into my my school year routine. So I'm ready for that.

Speaker: Well, I'm super pumped. um You might run across a couple of students. um I don't know what levels you're teaching this semester, but um all of your students that will cross your path are lucky. I ah say that with certainty. You are so kind. It's this semester, I think I'm teaching all senior classes, I believe. Oh, okay. But that can change at a moment's notice, late registration, people add, get dropped, all of that. So for the next couple of weeks, we don't take anything for granted because it can all change, which is just fine. Absolutely. yeah Yes. that is ah As it goes in education, right? Indeed. Don't get too comfy because it's going to change.

Speaker: That's right. Well, let's see. This week, it is the one with Phoebe's uterus. Last week when we finished off recording, neither of us, I don't believe, realized quite how incredible this episode is and was to re-watch. I am super excited. to get stuck yeah into this one. We will, of course, start with a round of bamboozled. The questions have been checked, double-checked, vetted by my darling Kate, and I believe we're ready to go. Who goes first this week?

Speaker: That would be you, Al. All right. That would be you, Al. That is Now, i was I tried to be super careful. or Not careful, but i was like, you know I'm not going to just ask the questions they ask you know when ah in the quiz, the who knows them best quiz. I think I may have one. don't remember, but the rest are not. My first one for you is, what type of cookies does Rachel have in her purse?

Speaker: They were in the bag. ah They were in a bag. They pulled out a bag of cookies. Yeah, and it was half eaten. yep Oh, it says on there. Yeah, no, they're like chocolate covered. And for some reason, I thought they were mint. But ah no, but Ross says they're not good.

Speaker: I don't know. He does. You are getting half a point for chocolate covered. They are devil's food cake. They are covered in chocolate. You are getting half a point. Those would be good.

Speaker: I have never heard of devil's food cake cookies. It seems like something i would want to give it shot. But you've had devil's food cake cake. you know what yes and it's delicious couldn't really tell you what it is other than like a chocolate tea yeah it's a chocolate cake yeah yeah yeah i don't know what's different about it now that i think about this yeah no and i feel like cookies would be delicious so absolutely all right you have had a point all right your question for me

Speaker: Okay, talking about the bag. What are the five things that are left in the bag? Ah, that's probably in my notes. All right, five things. Okay, cookies. No.

Speaker: No? Oh, no. Oh, no. All right. Okay, I'm going to start again. Let's see.

Speaker: No. Oh, why am I drawing a blank? I know that there's scotch tape. I know that there's apples. Yep. um Scotch tape. Apples.

Speaker: Scotch shape is the last thing. Is the last one. And apples was the first. Yep. Apples. Some kind of juice.

Speaker: Nope. She did not have the juice. And then that's whenever they it said scotch shape. Yep, because it's Scotch tape. I love that delivery. I am not going to get there. Tell me, what are they? Dang! All right, we got yogurt, tortilla chips, and diet soda.

Speaker: Diet soda. Ah, that's it. Now that you say it, I can hear it. All right, let's see my second question for you. We are still in the same 10 seconds of the of the show.

Speaker: Where did Rachel go shopping? It's in big letters on the back. Oh, no. Oh, no. My i next question is, where's the bag from that Rachel's unpacking?

Speaker: Oh. Dang. Okay. So it's Jefferson Market. We both just get a point. we Okay. We can go that way. I'm good with that.

Speaker: it Yep. Okay. She just walked in the room because she heard me. Okay. The one that my question was, where does Rachel go shopping early in the morning? Jefferson Market, has big letters on the bag. And Wilson's was, what's on the bag?

Speaker: Jefferson Market.

Speaker: Kate has had a very busy day. a i Nobody is judging. Tell her we do not judge here at the Purple Door Podcast. We do not judge. We are just here for the vibes. Indeed. And we both just got like a free point. so Yeah. Like, go whatever. so I asked you that. You kind of asked me that. So it is back on me because we have done two questions each now. So my question three for you. Can you complete this sentence?

Speaker: She's a woman.

Speaker: Not a

Speaker: Yep Oh my god Yeah because he's ah Oh gosh It's whenever they were having the conversation She's like am I having this at a hospital Or in a box under the stairs Yes that's it One of my favorite lines So what would happen if we so just put 200 of them up in there and is she Oh, a gumball gumba machine. Gumball machine. Well done. all I love the delivery of that one. Well done. Yeah.

Speaker: Oh, and you can tell she just feels so uncomfortable. Yes. She's a woman, not a gumball machine. Yes. All right. How much does it cost for the procedure?

Speaker: Oh, um I know roughly. I'm going between two.

Speaker: What are they two the The 16,000 18,000. Okay. You get your point. 16,000. It is 16,000. Okay. There we go. All right.

Speaker: All right. So this is my, you know, I'm going to switch this one out for sake because it's phrase from the quiz. So it'll be one of my extra ones. um What does Phoebe say? She's going to buy the babies.

Speaker: Adidas. Adidas it is. Nicely done. Okay. Finish this line. Yes. Either he goes or I'm...

Speaker: this is good because I don't remember. Let me think. And then they go... Either he goes or I'm...

Speaker: I'm not... Has this got something to do with the chick and the duck? Uh-huh. Yeah, okay. Either he goes... Or I'm... Oh, this is going to drive me crazy. I should know this.

Speaker: He goes... I don't remember. I don't remember. I'm buying. He goes... I'm buying. No, it is gone.

Speaker: a coyote. a That... I'm going to throw this out there and say that that is not in my episode. Okay.

Speaker: I think I would have remembered that. Oh, yeah, because that was so funny. Yeah, because that's a great line. andu never And they were fighting, like, back and forth and going back and forth. and then's Okay, well, then let me ask a different one. Okay.

Speaker: Who called heads or tails and who won? That's a great question. I remember the scene and I've got no eye. Because, of course, nobody called it the first time. Right. And then they all look at it and then look at them. I'm going to say Monica Yells' heads.

Speaker: That's my guess. It's a great guess. And um and then, so who won? Was it the girls or the boys? Okay. Okay.

Speaker: I seem to remember Rachel celebrating they won the coin toss. I'm going with the girls. Okay. So it was Rachel that called heads. She was wrong. so the boys won. All right.

Speaker: Yeah. Well, i didn't get it. You've got your final question here. When the boys bring the foosball table in, what colors are the foosball players? Two teams, two colors.

Speaker: Yellow and black. It is like the foosball table is there in your yeah your room. And the blanket that they set it on was blue and white. so Bonus points.

Speaker: Okay. um How many questions did the guys get right in the lightning round? Again, this is something I should have noted.

Speaker: I'm going with seven. No. no or Four. Four, for open but yeah four, four. Well, you had have demolished me this week with four and a half to two. You are back on track.

Speaker: It's a win for Willison. And that's fantastic. I have, I think, oh, I've got three extra questions. One of them I've forgotten to write the answer down for.

Speaker: Oh, ask me that. I have ah just one. Alright, my favorite one actually. What does Chandler have in his hand when he rides in on the big white dog?

Speaker: Is it a sword? It is not a sword. Is it a baguette? You're getting closer. Sort of. Oh, I don't know. It's a sandwich.

Speaker: He is eating a sandwich. Takes a bite out and as he rolls in. nice nice all right what have you got for me what are the four topics um for the trivia show oh it's in my notes because i double checked this and i'm not gonna okay literature yes the last one's it's all relative is that last one it's all relative literature it's all relative

Speaker: Jobs? No. Nicknames? No. Oh, I'm doing a poor job. I'm doing a poor job. I've got two out the four, but don't recall the other two. Okay. Fears and pet peeves? Of course. Yep.

Speaker: art literature and it's all relative i mean i've written those four down and the colors that correspond with them in my notes but oh wow didn't lock it in didn't lock it in i've got two more for you i believe the first one is what scares the bejesus out of chandler the lord of the dance guy Yes. What's his what's what's his name? Do you remember? but Shoot, no.

Speaker: like Michael Flatley. The Lord of the Dance guy. It's just, now his his legs move as if independent from his body. body Yes, that line is hilarious. um And my last one, what two things did Frank and Alice buy for Phoebe?

Speaker: Oh, something you don't want to mix up. Yes. A lollipop and a home pregnancy test. That's the one. That's the one. Well, it's funny. I was just thinking about you the coyote question. I, so we lost, I say we lost.

Speaker: We had our um nobody cares about this story, but I'm going to tell it anyway. We have our HBO Max subscription and we get it free through our AT&T cell phone. We changed plans this weekend to save a hundred something dollars for the exact same thing.

Speaker: But when we changed plan, we are no longer grandfathered in, so we lost our HBO access. So I went to dig out the DVDs, and Kate was like, absolutely not. We need to have the HBO access. So looked at it and basically got it for the same price. Nice. Because we combined it with something else we have, so it really cost us almost nothing. So normal service was resumed, but i was digging out the DVDs that are behind my left shoulder.

Speaker: So would have seen the coyote scene this week. But yeah no back to HBO. Well, there you go. That's so funny that that's not. And it was so close to you would have known what I was talking about. I have decided that if if I don't do it before, when we finish this, I'm going to re-watch Friends with the DVDs to catch all these things.

Speaker: Yeah. Let's see. we We're going to start off this week. We're in kind of the girl's apartment, then the hallway where this the coyote thing takes place that I missed. Rachel is mad. No? Oh, it's later on. It says not. It's later. Ah, okay.

Speaker: Whenever we get to it, I'll tell you. But it's not here at the beginning. Interesting. Well, we we kind of start off outside and we hear the rooster, as it is now, making its noise. Rachel bursts out. She, as Monica says, is not a morning person.

Speaker: um They end up going across the hall, begging on the door. And i love that i love the hair, Chandler and Joey's hair. his Yes, they've got some excellent bed head.

Speaker: Yeah, it is quite something. And I love his line, you know, when Rachel goes, what's that noise? You! Because she's not beating the door down. It's so well delivered. um Yeah, the chi the chick is becoming a rooster, but they're going to get a second opinion. Yeah.

Speaker: It did occur to me that, yeah, i I don't quite remember how the chicken duck story ends. So I'm excited to kind of recall quite how that goes down. Yeah. you When we get there.

Speaker: Don't they go to a farm? i feel like they go to a farm. I think they go to a farm, but quite the situation has has escaped me, or the the the scenario where that happens. um Rachel has been up since six in the morning, as we discussed at length in trivia. We had lots of questions there. She's been up since six. She just got back. It's about eight o'clock.

Speaker: Yeah. this is this is bad This is just where this episode takes off. Phoebe's off to the fertility doctor. And Monica and Joey come in with their laundry. i did we We have been discussing this quite a bit of at our household. The laundromat, or the laundrette for our UK listeners. When was the last time you went to a laundromat?

Speaker: Interesting that you ask that. Because yesterday, before I left Fred at college, yes we went and we explored and found some different things. And one of the things that we it was important that we found was where he's going to do his laundry.

Speaker: Critical, I would say. Yes, because like at SFA, it costs money. At UNT, it did not. ah Or it might be backwards. I don't remember. But, like, and so I was like, we need to find it because if you need quarters or if you need a card or whatever you need, you don't need any of those things.

Speaker: At his dorm, they have got 12 washing machines and three dryers. This is outstanding. And they're in the basement.

Speaker: They're in the basement. Fantastic. And there you go. So make sure you do your laundry before everybody starts moving in on Thursday. a Sage advice. That's exactly Yeah. So does that count? I say that counts.

Speaker: Okay, perfect. I would say that. But if not, how long ago was it? Just out curiosity. A long time ago, ah we had to stop at a laundromat one year.

Speaker: ah George was probably two and Fred was probably seven or eight. And we had to stop on a vacation because we were all out of clean clothes.

Speaker: What you're going to Yeah. And we don't have money to just be buying new clothes while you're on vacation. So we stopped at a laundromat and spent about an hour, ah hour and a half, washing clothes and riding around in the baskets.

Speaker: Sounds like a fun time to me. That's a Yeah, it was. Yeah, it was. Yeah. Man. Yes. Or more recently in the episode um where ross and Ross teaches Rachel how to do laundry.

Speaker: That's right. All the way back at near the beginning. Yes. Uber Weiss. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. So there you go. Yeah. Ours has ours is is relocating and we're we're we're just confused as heck by this.

Speaker: It's very close to our house and it closed and it's moving one block a away. But they're having to spend ah goodness knows how much money. They're moving to an old dentist office. So re-plumbing all of this stuff for all the machines. Right.

Speaker: And the building that they left, there's a new laundromat company moving in there. So was just kind of baffled by the whole thing, but neither are open. And we don't go often at all, but we do go to wash like our heavy bedding. Like, so when we out of the winter, we'll take that stuff. So we're just hoping that they get figured out by then. How strange. Yeah. That seems very expensive for not, I wonder if like rent went up crazy high or something. Yeah. I'm just, yeah, it's, it's, I mean, that, that's, that's just underneath all of the foundation. I assume running all these pipes and lines, but what do I know? I'm not in that business, but I assume that that's a huge expense. Yeah.

Speaker: Yeah, well, I guess we we can sit and speculate. That's always fun. This is what we do. This is what we do, right? Well, we we're talking about laundry because Joey and Monica come in with their laundry. And I love the way Joey delivers this. You know, he thinks she must be wearing, what you say, her old lady underpants because it's laundry day. ah Yeah.

Speaker: yeah and Yes, which is so funny. Gosh. Okay. Yeah. And it leads into just the most ridiculous things. But like you do, you notice whenever you are around the same people all the time, you notice ridiculous things. so I think we should highlight for our listeners. I've never seen you do what you are doing right now.

Speaker: What is it you are doing? Oh my gosh. Did this just occur to you? Yes. Because, okay. So I am recording, right? I'm here in Fred's room and Fred, um, is gone to college now.

Speaker: And there he left this pile of laundry on this chair. And I noticed while I'm sitting here, we've been going through trying to sort out where all of George's clothes have gone because he's short a whole bunch of pairs of shorts and shirts.

Speaker: And while I was sitting here in the corner of my eye, I noticed a pair of shorts that I know belong to George. So, ah yeah, I started, like, sorting these clothes. I'm sorry.

Speaker: Do not be sorry. I think it's brilliant timing. I think it's amazing. I feel like, and yeah, there's something therapeutic about it, right? Yeah. whatever. Fold away, dear friend. Fold away. Yeah. but Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker: um this is what This spirals into the what really this episode ends up being. a rat Chandler and Joey say that they know Monica and Rachel better than they know them. And to prove it, Chandler Joey are going to name all the things in Rachel's purse, which they successfully managed to do. But it's not her purse.

Speaker: That's right. it's ah It's the shopping bag. That right? Right, that's right. Yeah, it's that big old that Jefferson Market bag. That's right.

Speaker: And then here here's the list. You have apples, tortilla chips, diet soda, yogurt, scotch tape. And because of that, the boys win $10. But Monica, the competitive Geller in her, is not going to tolerate this. And I think she she initially says a rematch for $100, personal questions, and Ross is kind of charged with...

Speaker: with making this happen i think the secret is who's who knows what friends the best ross knows them better than anyone because he came up with all the questions okay so i spent a lot of time thinking about that piece right whenever he's working on the board and all of that did he really know the answers to all of those things or did he ask That's good point. He could have asked the boys, like Chandler, what his job is and all of that.

Speaker: Yeah, because I mean, i feel like he would know Chandler's job for sure. He would. And then he would know him and Monica's grandma. Yes.

Speaker: Yeah, maybe he does. Maybe he did come up with all those questions. Yeah, because you know, he would know Monica's, he would know Rachel's like favorite movie and stuff from dating.

Speaker: Right? And I don't remember any of the questions being specifically about Joey. Joey, that's a i that had not occurred to me. That's a very good point. Well, as we're going through, because I've i've got in my notes like all the questions and things, right? ah We'll look and see. But yeah, I don't think any of the questions were about Joey. Like it was about Chandler, Chandler's dad, about Monica. Interesting.

Speaker: Interesting. Yeah, you're right. So maybe it is Ross. I think it might be. I think it might be all come from Ross's memory. um Wow. We go over to the doctor's office, which this episode is really named for, but this is, you know, not the the fun stuff of the quiz. Phoebe's uterus is ready to go. She was pregnant in real life at this point with her son Julian, which is why this got written in.

Speaker: Oh. Ah, okay. $16,000, Frank. Poor old naive Frank wants to, what did he say, 200 eggs up there? Yeah. So, like, what are the odds if we stuff, like, 200 of them up there?

Speaker: Yeah, but you know what? Frank, we we we make fun of him. He has some great advice. Why not just get drunk? yeah it worked for a lot of girls in his high school indeed indeed oh sweet sweet little frank sweet baby frank

Speaker: Yeah. We go back over to the girls' apartment. I swear all the answers to bamboozled are here in my notes. The categories are fears and pet peeves, ancient history, literature, and it's all relative. Ross has made a board. He is taking this seriously. He is ready to go as quiz master.

Speaker: um we Do you remember what Monica's biggest pet peeve is?

Speaker: Yeah, people that dress up as animals. Okay, that's what I heard. Isn't that what i thought? That's what I thought it was, but I rewatched it and it's animals dressed as humans is what it says. It's the other way around.

Speaker: I don't know where animals are dressed as humans. I don't know how that happens. It's people who put their dogs in clothes. There you go. That makes sense.

Speaker: That makes sense. yeah I thought that was so strange because I was like, how often do you see people dressed up as animals to where that would annoy you? But I could totally see her being annoyed with people who dress up their like dogs.

Speaker: Yeah, that's it. she's She is not happy. Put a hat on Marcel. Right. Monica mad. That's right. oh well so we found out that do you remember ross and monica's grandmother's name ah was it athena uh uh you are you are like a letter out yet yeah yeah what was it it was althea this is like quick fire bamboozled in the middle of the episode yeah it is i'm like Yeah, Althea. That's right, because that's a weird name, right? Have you ever met an Althea in your life? No, if I did, i would assume she would be close to 100. It's got that vibe about it, a good old-fashioned name, Althea. I'm just saying, I appreciate an old, old-fashioned name. Oh, absolutely. well

Speaker: um Do you remember who the TV guide comes to? Yes, Ms. Chenandler Bong. Chenandler Bong. I feel like every time we have done and will do trivia in the future, that's is somebody's team name. Ms. Chenandler Bongs or the Chenandler Bongs or some variation. Both times. Yeah. Both times that we've had that. we Yeah, it's a good niche reference that is. Yes.

Speaker: Okay, and what was so funny about that? Hang on So, you know... Rachel? Do you know Rachel? Do you know her? I'm familiar with some of you, Rachel.

Speaker: and so it's like any time that she gets excited and says anything, she's wrong. having Like, she was the one who yelled out, tails, or whatever, and then she's wrong. She's the one who's going to yell out a minute about whatever, and that's wrong. She's the one who yelled at Chandler Bing, and that's wrong.

Speaker: I didn't really put two and two together there. Uh-huh. that's interesting to me because it just is. Because why not? I don't think we've ever talked about the fact that my niece, who has now been married many years, was was Rachel Green.

Speaker: Have we ever discussed never discussed that? Aww. And does she share some characteristics as Rachel Green? You know what? Both very successful, strong-willed, awesome people.

Speaker: Okay. yeah I like that that. I do know that Rachel Green in the show spells her name with an E at the end. and Did some deep diving into that while ago and you see it when um Ross and Emily, well, later this season, um she gets a piece of mail.

Speaker: We won't spoil anything. And it's to Rachel Green with an E. um So that's the only difference. But yeah, I always thought that was fun growing up that my niece was Rachel Yeah.

Speaker: um we go out we go over to the doctor's office phoebe is so sweet she's talking to the embryos um i just wrote giving them a pet talk but warns them about her screaming it just yes don't be concerned meant to happen to happen meant be that way yep Yeah.

Speaker: ah We go back over, let's see, to the girls' apartment. The boys are winning 9-8 and Rachel chooses. It's all relative. um And they get the right answer. It was what is Chandler's dad's drag show called? And the land Monica's the one that knows that one. You're right. Again, thinking about who exactly answered these questions.

Speaker: and So it's nine each and they go to a lightning round and it says 30 seconds. But those rounds were not 30 seconds. I did do a a little deep dive into how long oh the the the boys were given and the girls were given. um The boys round lasted for just over 40 seconds.

Speaker: The girls round lasted for 60 seconds. Whoa! Yeah, we had to suspend reality there because they both went way over 40 seconds. We had to build suspense. That's right. Good TV. Oh my goodness. Yeah, almost double. But before that, Monica had raised it to, what did we say? What was it? 150. Chandler says 200. Monica then 300. And then they get rid the duck and the rooster.

Speaker: and then it's if they get rid of the duck and the rooster Or she says, she says. Rachel says, stop spending my money. That's right. And it's so heartfelt. You can tell that this is this is a lot what is a lot of money, but it sounds like a lot of money the way Rachel says it. like There's an air of desperation. ah Yes.

Speaker: The one thing I didn't get was you know Monica says, get rid of the rooster. Rachel says throws in the duck and says it's because the duck gets the rooster all riled up. Well, if the rooster's gone, the duck's not going to get anyone riled up.

Speaker: So that logic yeah didn't didn't make sense to me. yeah Yeah. Oh, well, whatever. i That made me laugh though because that, ooh, that's interesting. It's interesting. I love that line. I love it that line because it's like, it's just so funny and the delivery of it is awesome. Spot on. It's so good. It's so well done. Chandler raises the stakes to their highest points and says, if we the boys win, we get your apartment.

Speaker: and i cannot believe monica is just blinded by competitiveness at this point i think um and' yeah as much of a neat freak as she is and likes her her things are her ducks in a row she is willing to give it up i guess she was that confident Yeah. So they cut out some.

Speaker: Right. Talk to me about what. be outta Oh, okay. So just Rachel and her fighting against it. Like they go back and forth for a while.

Speaker: And then Rachel gets on board, right? Okay. Because Monica keeps on with the, you know, I'm steady as a rock and you've I've got this and don't worry and, you know, whatever. And, um yeah, so it it just, I feel like there was a lot more to it that they might, I don't know what they cut out, but there was something in there. Something there. Mm-hmm.

Speaker: Yes, there you know Rachel gets on board because Monica's right. She's aced every question. so Oh, wait. This is where she says where they start fighting back and forth and all of that. And he's like,

Speaker: um You know, that the Monica or and then she is saying like the it the roosters got to go. It's got to go. And then they're like, no. And then she says, if the rooster doesn't or if he doesn't go, I'm getting um I'm getting a coyote. I'm buying a coyote. And that both of the guys go, what?

Speaker: You know, and they're all offended. And so then the girls come back again, you know, and then it's like, OK, OK, wait. Right. We'll do it. And that's whenever Monica's like, we'll do it.

Speaker: So. I love it. I love just how this builds and builds from such a simple, you know, we know what Monica's old lady underpants and what's in the bag to to to betting apartments at this point.

Speaker: Yeah. It's just escalated brilliantly. um Do you remember what Rachel's favorite movie or the favorite movie she says and then what her actual favorite movie is? yes dangerous liaisons and weekend at bernie's have you seen that i ever i oh of course i've seen weekend at bernie's but i don't know that i've ever seen dangerous liaisons right i i don't know how and have you seen either Neither. No. No. I mean, at this point, there's the disappointment in me. This is, this is Kate's Kate is on board with this, with the things I have not seen. ah this This is how it goes. um Monica, she got a pencil stuck in her ear 14. And then we get into, I love the towels. um Oh, and all the different categories.

Speaker: How many categories do you guys have at the greenhouse? So I would say we have three. I've never thought this through. We have towels that the kids use.

Speaker: we have our towels because both Kate and I, but in particular, Kate, like a thinner towel when she gets out the shower. so Oh, interesting. So she, like, sometimes the towels get mixed up, you know, the kids and ours, and when we wash them, we take all the thin towels and we send the the thicker ones. And then I would say we have, like pool and beach towels.

Speaker: There you go. So I would say three. What about in the Woolison household? Yeah. So we've got towels. Mm-hmm. We've got thick towels.

Speaker: Right. We've got like hand towels. Yeah, like the ones that hang on the thing. We've got washcloths.

Speaker: that count as a towel? I guess it does. so It's a little towel. Yeah. Okay. And then we've got kitchen towels. Like the ones that you can clean with. to in that I think that's even different than that because we've got the kitchen towels that hang in the kitchen. and then you've got the and like you've got the hand towels for the bathroom, the kitchen towels for the kitchen. and then you've got like the cleaning towels.

Speaker: Right. So how many of that? you know more than what i thought we had that's for sure the holy cow and now i've got to sort of consider yeah we've got the ones in the kitchen and we have it's more than i thought too you're absolutely right yeah there's more category i don't think we quite have 11 but um yeah also more clothes that belong to george here in fred's room Right? um George is getting a new of new wardrobe. I'm just saying, this is saving me a whole lot of money. This is good news.

Speaker: Yeah, it is. Yeah. I will point out, because I'll forget to mention this, when we see the girls in the boys' apartment later on, on some of the boxes, you can see the different categories of towels. You can see fancy towels written on one of the boxes, which I think is a great touch. Yes.

Speaker: We find that, let's see, the boys scored four, as you ah mentioned in Bamboozled. Do you remember Joey's childhood imaginary friend? I'm throwing all the questions at you.

Speaker: That was Joey. So there is a question about Joey. Oh, that's true. imaginary friend Yes. Okay. Um, I don't remember a space cowboy. Yes. Maurice, the space cowboy. Maurice. I can't even imagine what that looks like, but I just, you know, what, what does space cowboy look like? But I don't know.

Speaker: I don't know, it's a great visual. Um, and this is where I think one of the most famous moments in all of friends where they don't know Chandler's job. That's not even word! That's so funny. I paused the show. where I re-watched it. hadn't watched it in about a week. I re-watched it earlier today. I paused it right before Monica said that just to scribble down a note. And I was watching in the living room.

Speaker: Our office is on the other side of the wall. And what do I hear? Kate yell, but that's not even a word! Because she was listening in when she was watching some work. nice that is perfect and it results in the girls losing their apartment monica screams like she's i've never heard her scream it is bad news for the girls and the boys are very excited right and it's like yeah she's upset um i in my heart right because there's

Speaker: just what you feel in your heart that, that it starts off with no, because she lost, but then she just continues because then she realizes what she's done. What has happened. And it's funny. I think this is a trait. I'm now just thinking about Monica when she got into the stock market, you know, like she kept losing, and kept losing and just wanting to borrow money. I don't remember quite the episode.

Speaker: That was poker. That's right. It was poker. It was the poker. and And she, yeah, she just kept wanting to go and go and go. It was poker and the stock market because she invests in herself because it's M-E-G, her initials, and then loses money and keeps wanting to try and get back. She doesn't know when to stop, does Monica, when to stop.

Speaker: this This is a treat. um We're still in the girls' apartment, but obviously a little bit later. The boys are moving in and Monica just tries again to bet on anything she can bet on, but the boys would never bet this. What color are my tonsils?

Speaker: And Chandler is lying you know, I would never bet this apartment. It's too nice. um hu Rachel agrees it's stupid bet. It was a stupid bet. She's not moving. She's just not having it. um Yeah. Good for her for standing her ground here. Um, Phoebe comes in, she takes a pregnancy test. I'm assuming, and I'm going to lean on your, uh, your, your knowledge as a woman and a mother. I'm assuming there is absolutely no way you would know if you were pregnant that early.

Speaker: No, I, I, no, no. The timeline seemed a hair off to me. Yeah. Unless it took days for them to move. Right.

Speaker: Right. Like, yeah, no, I think ah another suspension of reality. Indeed. Speaking of suspension, this is this is a stretch, this segue, but I'm going for it.

Speaker: Phoebe suspends herself, sort of, upside down because she's going to let gravity do the work. Am I wrong or did she tell Ross that she didn't believe in gravity when they were kind of arguing about, like, you know, Jurassic Park could happen? Yeah, and then she was talking about, yeah, gravity ended up being in there too. Because she was talking about about evolution.

Speaker: She was talking about evolution. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Yeah, and then something came up with gravity and then he just left. That's right. so yeah She's a believer now. She's hoping that gravity will help get her pregnant. We're still in the girls' apartment. It's all packed up now. Rachel is upset. Monica says she's going to handle it by attempting to gamble more. um She comes back. Do you remember what she's now lost?

Speaker: The mattresses. Yeah, which means that they're both stuck with the boys' mattresses. That's just... not Not a good situation. it's It's just getting worse and worse for Monica and um and Rachel. um They come in, I think, this is the big white dog. I forgot to look this up. I am sure that Jennifer Aniston owned or owns that big white dog. It belongs to her, right? Yes.

Speaker: Yes, yes, that is absolutely correct. And we have actually talked about this on our podcast before. thought we might have. Yeah, because i didn't know. And its name is Pat.

Speaker: That's right, Pat the Dog. Yes, yes. Yes. I'd forgotten about Pat, that his name was Pat the Dog. um Phoebe is singing to the fetuses, feti, fetuses, not sure. Yeah, fetuses. Fetuses, let's go with that. Two educators here, and we' well but we we got this. um Alice and Frank come by with the lollipop and the pregnancy test. You don't want to mess those two things up.

Speaker: Yeah, he could really ruin the lollipop. That's right. Oh, that's right. This is where Chandler comes in on Pat, the big white dog, kind of riding in with his sandwich.

Speaker: Yes. it And it kind of descends quickly into chaos, right? Monica, Rachel, Chandler, they all just start squabbling, which is a beautiful setup, really, for Phoebe to burst out the bathroom.

Speaker: and announce that she is pregnant, which is super, super exciting. And everyone forgets that they're arguing and give her give her just a big, big hug. And it's probably not good for the baby, though.

Speaker: Yeah. it's just it's It's such a touching moment. um We end up in the boys' apartment. Well, you temporarily, the girls' apartment. Monica and Rachel are unpacking. And there's something alive in the drawer.

Speaker: and yeah what do you think it was i chose to believe it was a cockroach yeah something like that because at first i was like i wonder if it'd be a mouse and then i was like no like well oh But yeah, I'm sure a cockroach or something gross.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. Something icky like that. um Conversely, the boys are in heaven. They are. Joey screams of excitement, doesn't he, about how big the closets are. And then they sit down in the recliners and give the this sort of famous two-step reclining action that they do. Yes, but I thought it was such a clever play, like the two scenes where they scream and then they have a little interaction and then it's, I can't believe we're living here. And it happens with both groups in both apartments.

Speaker: Uh-huh. And Monica's like, I can't believe we're living here. And then Joey screams, comes out, did you see the size of the closets? And then it's, I can't believe it, that we're living here.

Speaker: And it's like, hey well, that's a great catch. I heard both of them, but didn't put it together. That's a great writing and a great catch. But for, for completely the same exact line, just with so completely opposite meanings. I thought it was so clever. That is really, really well done. um And that's this episode ends with Joey and Chandler kicking back in the recliners. One thing that I did notice, because I got thinking about our friend Steve, because he loves Steve's favorite episode, and he was on the podcast for it, the one where nobody's ready. We refer to it as the bottle episode. This wasn't a bottle episode, but it wasn't far off. It's so much took place.

Speaker: in it was really just the girls apartment a little bit in the boys and a little bit in the doctor's office um yeah this episode's one of the few where there are no central park scenes at all Oh, that's true. Yeah. and Yeah, that does not happen very often at all. No, I'm sure somebody's counted them up. I'll need to look it up. But we have one of the few, I think. But yeah, that wraps this episode up. It is fantastic. Let's think. Your Gunther Central Park of the Week.

Speaker: Who are you going for this week? Phoebe. Phoebe. i happy and I mean, and it's the embryos. It's her. So, I mean. Yeah.

Speaker: Lots of funny lines by lots, like, by everybody. Like, including Frank and Alice. and Right. You know, everybody was really great. that Like, for me, the other central perk is Bebe.

Speaker: Yeah, I think I'm going to go with Phoebe too. Again, Chandler's a close second because of the funny lines, but there's so many funny lines. I think just the scene where she's talking to the eggs and all of that, I found that super touching. It was kind of funny too. And then singing to him. Singing to him.

Speaker: Yeah, yeah. It's just so sweet. And just, I don't know. It's just, yeah. She gave me warm fuzzies. Indeed, in the middle of all this hilarious stuff, there was the warm fuzzies. Right. I'm right there with you would not believe this, but my second would easily be Ross for the creation of the game.

Speaker: tip of the hat to ross you know yeah yeah so like and a tip of the hat exactly love it uh how are we gonna measure this week with embryos of course of course how many here's a one a sentence i never thought i'd say this in my entire life but here i am 45 years old how many embryos out of 10 would you give this episode I gave this episode a full 10 out of 10. I like it. 10 out of 10. It's a good one. It's classic. And there's, I did not realize. So like just times and pause. And you sent me that text last time that like you watched this like a week ago and you sent me a text and you were like, Oh my gosh, I forgot how awesome this episode is. Yeah.

Speaker: And I was like, Like, I don't remember what the other part of the story is. Yep. And then I was like, why was this one called the one with the embryos?

Speaker: Like, why was it not called the one with the game or the one with the apartment? Or do you know what I mean? Yeah. Because I feel like if we added up the time in this episode, the majority of the time would revolve around the game. Absolutely. Not around the embryos. So, but I guess, I mean, like for the plot of the season, the embryos are the big deal, right? Because yeah i remember, i don't know how many episodes they're swapped in the in the apartments, but I remember how they get swapped back. Right.

Speaker: i remember that very vividly yeah um yeah it's i i mean it's gonna be a couple i guess might be next week i don't know but i like you i remember how it how this situation ends yeah so you know and maybe that's why because i've and i've through these four seasons I've thought, and I don't know if I've talked to you about this or not, but I've thought a lot about why, why is this episode called that instead of, why is this episode called that instead of? Because there's a lot of episodes that are like that, where it's, why was it called this instead of that? Whenever that was obviously the bigger

Speaker: story, but I guess you wouldn't know how hard it would hit and how lasting that would be. whenever you're making it. But you know what I'm saying? Like, it's interesting to me.

Speaker: So I don't know. Yeah, that's that's a very good point. I've not really thought about that. But I guess they give maybe they give it like a working title and the story changes a bit. a story The B-plot grows, but they just stick with the original title. That's ah and's a really interesting way of thinking about it um so i'm gonna get i'm giving this one a nine and a half okay no yeah you know no why not a full solid 10 al you know what because i got thinking i was like have i given any episode to 10 and i haven't gone back and looked um

Speaker: I don't know why not a 10. And maybe that's something I need to look introspectively. Why am I just going a nine in it? Yeah. Nine full embryos. What will make you be hesitant to give a perfect score?

Speaker: That's right. Because you truly don't believe that anything could be perfect. Maybe deep down. Yes. There are so many questions I have for you. Yeah, um I'm having a quick look through. I don't know if I've given a 10. Maybe I have. I'll need to dig through my bazillion Well, don't. Not until the end of the season. Yeah, not going to look. until end of the season.

Speaker: Is she really pregnant for nine months? um And then we had several people just send us lovely little comments, including Amanda. I believe it's Arends who just said in huge letters, my sister's going to have my baby, which we didn't even mention.
