Okay, another day, another beef. That's how my life works. You know that. You've been here long enough to know how this system works. um Homestars. Who here in Canada use Homestars as part of their referral network and thinks they're paying for a proprietary service or access to a customer database? That's absolutely not true.

They've been emailing me since 2010. It's been very adversarial the entire time. They basically create their own website, create their own rating system, them and then contact tradesmen say, listen, for a fee, monthly fee, we'll make sure that your rating stays at two or above four stars.

them to bite it, um continue to. They did something new this year, though. In so February, I started getting requests for service within my geo-fenced area.

um And so far, I've gotten about 30 emails since February for hot water tanks, plug toilets, changing taps, renos. And of course, if i so if I would complete my subscription, then their leave fee is anywhere from 10 to 50 bucks, depending on what's going on there. And they take it out of your account.

more than you need them. Everybody knows that the tech world is hating it right now. You should get one of your tech bros to help you set up a system to create your own systems. the only so The only thing that you should actually buy, in my opinion, is QuickBooks. And straight up, I had a guy, this was way back when I first started in like 97, and that did me up an accounting program specifically for Baker Plumbing. He was kind of a nitwit, and I just thought of it the other day because I ran across him. He's looking rough. The old computer world's not been nice to him.

um But he created software that I could have used as in... and lieu of QuickBooks. I don't know if that's super smart because every accountant in the world wants you to use QuickBooks now. This is the way the world is, so I get that. your

I am beholden to no one. I get to do whatever I want to do, whatever I want to do it. And is that not the whole entire point of running your own business? Is is crafting and developing a world where that is your reality that you can do whatever you want when you want to do it um and that's where my world is and i hope that's where your world's going and if you're gonna sort of uh enslave yourself to these software companies it's your fault not mine
