snowjobspodcast: Oh, man. Well, like we said, guys, we were at equip in Louisville last week. All right. Equip Expo 2024 is in the books, but we are home now and we're going to do a little equip review for the snow products and stuff and the snow guys we saw there.
snowjobspodcast: And to help us do that, we're going to bring back a couple of crowd favorites, bring them back. Sean DiVincenzo of native snow, New Jersey, and Sean's babysitter, Robert Thing of already outdoor handler babysitter.

snowjobspodcast: All right, guys, we're back. So a quick week of review. Last week, we dropped the episode with Jonathan Wise at Winterstone. He came on with us. They're a relatively young company, guys, but they've been growing like crazy every year. I think they're in their going into their fifth winter. It was great to hear from Jonathan, hear how they're tackling the growth and keeping it sustainable and manageable. ah That was a good episode. The guys out there, seemed you guys all seem to be liking it. So thanks thanks to Jonathan again, coming on best to Winterstone this winter.
snowjobspodcast: Show season 2024, like we said, over. We've been going since April. it's ah It's been a great season of events for Snow Guys. We're proud that we were requested at so many events. And we're you know as always, we're extremely happy to help these events grow and get better every year. It was an absolute pleasure meeting so many guys out there at these events, being able to talk you know just talk to you one -on -one, say thank you in person for everything you guys do for us with this show, keeping the keeping it growing like crazy. We're dropping the live from equip Expo Arctic Army roll call episode this week All right, we sat down with the Arctic gang at equip recorded an episode right from their booth, which was awesome Got to hear from the professional scooter racer John Big Daddy Starick Oh Jeremy's joining us in big pimp coat Sean. Did you get a picture of that? Oh Got a picture of Jeremy's coat. All right. Cool. So John Starr came out with us for a couple of minutes. Uh, we got, we, we had the honor of talking to the mad scientist himself, right? Blake straight came on and gave us a few minutes talking about the Razorback complete plow, uh, debut. They got their own head gear now, their own mounting system and all the changes they made to the blade this year to make it better. They, you know, you guys were out there talking.
snowjobspodcast: about what needed to be changed with it. from last year and they listened right so then we yeah
RICK JAMES: Mm hmm.
snowjobspodcast: we talked to blake and then we wrapped it up talking to spencer straight ah spencer handles the marketing for arctic and he took us through all arctic's new social media push and the special programs they're going to run to help the yeah Arctic users show their stuff.
snowjobspodcast: all right they yeah they want to you know They want to repay you guys for being such loyal Arctic users. ah So they they got a couple of things coming. And and ah that we'll we'll wait for for that episode to drop on Thursday.

snowjobspodcast: Alright, so lets let's get into this. let's ah what did you guys ah What did you guys think about Equip this year compared to last year? Same stuff? Anything new?
Brine Boss : I didn't personally see anything new. um I think the biggest thing I saw that was new was obviously Arctic's new headgear and everything for their new their new truck blade there.
Brine Boss : But other than that, I think um a lot of it's just somewhat of the same innovations.
RICK JAMES: it was good.
Brine Boss : Just ah tweak here and tweak there across all the different manufacturers and companies and businesses and and everything along those lines.
snowjobspodcast: Yeah. What about you, Sean?
Native Snow : Yeah, same thing. Nothing new. A lot of electric lawnmowers and stuff like that. Other than that, the snow stuff, everything that was new I already seen during the year and all the other stuff as we did.
snowjobspodcast: Yeah. ah Yeah.
Native Snow : Nothing really snow related to talk about. me
snowjobspodcast: I was just going to say that a lot of the new snow stuff we've already seen at previous events, like we got to see that new cage wing plow, right?
Native Snow : Yeah, multiple times. Yeah, yeah we've seen multiple times already, so.
RICK JAMES: Yeah. Yeah.
snowjobspodcast: Mm hmm.
Brine Boss : as we saw it in action in Minnesota at Sanco.
snowjobspodcast: Yep, we did.
RICK JAMES: yeah
snowjobspodcast: Got to see that.
RICK JAMES: I think I talked a cage I talked a cage about that plow a little bit and I thought they told me because I was trying to figure out how much it weighs and because I think it was 50 no, it's like 5 ,500.
snowjobspodcast: Uh, what about you, Jake?

RICK JAMES: I think is what he said 53 or 55

RICK JAMES: Yeah. At one point he said seven or, or, but then they said, no, that was something was wrong. So, but they were saying 5 ,500 pounds. I don't know. As far as snow equipment. Yeah. There wasn't a lot of new stuff.
RICK JAMES: Just obviously the new headgear from Arctic. That was when he's new snow stuff. I saw, I mean, that shows that thing is bad.
snowjobspodcast: which was sick, not to undersell it, but the the new headgear from Arctic is, it's sick.
Brine Boss : Alright.
RICK JAMES: That thing is bad. I mean, just the hydraulic pins and I think Blake could that thing on and off and
snowjobspodcast: Yup.
RICK JAMES: I don't know, 20 seconds. If that, I mean, it was um boom, boom.
snowjobspodcast: Not even, yeah, I don't think it was that long.
RICK JAMES: It was cool. It's going to be fun to try that. That's for sure.
snowjobspodcast: Robert, was it you that jumped in the in the truck and said you couldn't even feel it going over to going over the curb block?
Brine Boss : Yeah. Yeah. Cause I wrote in the truck and they were going over those five inch curbs. And, um, when he went over it, like kind of dead center and one of the mold boards, I mean, yeah but it literally just felt like an um an imperfection in the parking lot.
Brine Boss : And then when he extended the way out straight and whenever the curb were just the way, I mean, you didn't even know what happened. I mean, the only the only reason you knew was because the window was down and you could hear it trip.
snowjobspodcast: Yeah.
RICK JAMES: even
snowjobspodcast: So you may actually have guys telling the truth now when they're like, I didn't hear anything. I don't know. I just have.
RICK JAMES: ah

RICK JAMES: well Well, hopefully nothing's damaged and they, we don't, we can keep going not to worry about it. So no, it was cool.

RICK JAMES: i When we're, when Robert was in the pickup, I was in front of it, you know, with my phone out videoing it and it was just from the, from the ground itself. I looked really smooth. I mean, it was just like a typical article and up and over and where you go.
RICK JAMES: So.
snowjobspodcast: Yeah, it was pretty impressive though. The headgear, like they really did their homework. All the, everything's self -contained, sealed in that, in that weatherproof box and stuff. and Nice and easy to get to if you needed to. The, the hydraulic pins to put it on that, that's, I mean, they really, they, that's why they took their time, I guess. Cause they, they needed it to be like that because it was awesome. It was awesome to see.
RICK JAMES: Like Blake opened open the hood and was showing me other you know that if anybody knows how at least Like I'm familiar with boss plows and there's a lot of shit.
RICK JAMES: I read the hood, you know from all your electrical stuff I don't know what the other brands are but the bosses are like that and what he showed me is looked like a
snowjobspodcast: Yes. Yep.
RICK JAMES: I don't know, like a notepad, pretty much. That was all, you know, something that was about the size of a notepad and a couple of wires running through it. So it was really and didn't take up shit for room underneath your hood or anything like that.
RICK JAMES: So that was pretty, I thought that was pretty impressive. So I don't know. One little thing I saw guys that actually plow and have to deal with all that shit.

RICK JAMES: Think about stuff like that. You know, so.

Brine Boss : Jeremy was that tide do they um tap into the like headlight wiring harness for that. I didn't I didn't check out under the hood Yeah Yeah, it's just cleaner Yeah
RICK JAMES: It goes from the, he said there are harness that go on your headlights and it just tees off into, you know, I think it's just like every other one, but just, but it's not like a big harness system. It's just so like, it's just a TF.
RICK JAMES: so I mean, that's what I got from what Blake was telling me. So tees off into that. Then you just, it's just cleaner and simple, just simple. I mean, then the wires that went, Oh, you once you took them off, you could click them together.
RICK JAMES: So they're always sealed up. So that was kind of nice also.

RICK JAMES: So as far as the other ah other snowy equipment, there wasn't like, wasn't a lot, but I know we're always, I don't think we're all just going there for snowy equipment.

Brine Boss : the new boss vbx plus um i haven't seen that anywhere besides at that show um ah got looking at that because we have we have one vbx now and looking at how they did change all the wiring harnesses in the rear plug in plug the sander in from the truck side um the led lights that are finally now standard and not the cheap halogen ones and strobe lights on it um it does have um a bunch of rate control features um i don't know everything about it but i was playing around with it and saw that it does have great options and you can
Brine Boss : i I believe you can set up jobs on there up to like 10, 10 different sites.

Brine Boss : Um, I thought that's pretty cool.

Brine Boss : That's a lot of, that's a lot of innovation from our current VBX, I guess. Um, I mean, there's just a lot more going on with that. I mean, whether it's good or yes,
snowjobspodcast: Yeah. I believe there's material tracking on there. Like I think they're, they're trying to get it dialed in.

snowjobspodcast: So you know how many pounds you're using, which is great.
RICK JAMES: Hmm.

Brine Boss : i Did not I did not but I'm on the spreader so on your you can actually when you adjust it It's actually telling you like what the width is and feet how far you're kind of throwing it and everything and then it's also I believe the rate control is something along like pounds per minute or something along those I believe The whole me to it, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

RICK JAMES: Well, I looked at it too. I guess I didn't look at it in depth as you did, but pounds per minute. Well, that'd be kind of, how do you, how do you figure that?
snowjobspodcast: Maybe pounds per mile.
RICK JAMES: Wouldn't it be like per lane mile or something or, or what?
snowjobspodcast: Uh, maybe pounds per mile.
Brine Boss : I don't think it was my to be honest. I'm, I'm almost like 90 % positive. It wasn't my, it was like per minute or something like that. I, I'm not sure you'd have to look into it.
RICK JAMES: Huh.

RICK JAMES: Look pretty slick. I mean, I mean, it was like you said, a lot of innovation or better than it was.
Brine Boss : Yeah.
snowjobspodcast: Yeah. Speaking of boss, I did see that they're, um, the snow Raider mag now has a ah nice cab option for it. I don't know what the feasibility is. The thing's about 10 feet tall, but.
Brine Boss : We certainly need to blow over here at this door.
snowjobspodcast: It was huge. It was yeah, it was huge, but it was a nice ah The only question I had about it was it it you know, it was fully enclosed. It was not like a ah Fabric material.
snowjobspodcast: It was a fiberglass and you know had a full windshield But I don't I didn't see it had a windshield wiper didn't see it the frost option Which if you're using the snowblower or the broom and there's any wind that's coming right back to your windshield and I just see that windshield frosting over big time

Brine Boss : Yeah, they all got adopted.
snowjobspodcast: You can pretty much do everything with it. It's a zero turn, um, stand on mower, like kind of like the skag V ride too. And then you can actually insert, you can take the.
snowjobspodcast: ah take the casters and spread them wide to steady the machine to basically brace it. And then you can slide into a four -wheel drive, a two more wheels coming on the front.
snowjobspodcast: And this thing will hook up to, but there were like 15 attachments, right? There was a V -blade, a straight blade, snow blower, broom, mower decks, tillers, trenches.
snowjobspodcast: Like they had all all sorts of attachments for it.
