Speaker: There's no right way to do it.
Speaker: Oh, we're going to get into it. What up, my fall babes? My name's Whitney Williams, and I'm here with my best friend, Candice, and we are the Mom Group Chat Podcast. Happy fall, y'all.
Speaker: Every time. Happy fall, y'all. I know I probably could have been more creative there, but it just feels right. You know you have to do It feels right. You gotta. It's like...
Speaker: Even though actually, I was about to say it doesn't feel like fall here in Florida, but you guys, when I checked the temperature this morning, there was a six at the front of the number. It was 69.
Speaker: LOL. Wink, wink. But ah it was still a six and that, my friends, is a win. Let's check the temp now. That's chilly morning. 81. Okay. I mean, for it to be almost noon and be 81, like that is fall weather. Mm-hmm.
Speaker: Like, at least we're not in the 90s. Okay? 79 here. Wow. Okay. So, not far off. It's supposed to be hot today, which... Yeah. But I feel like over the weekend, we had a definitely... Like, it was breezy and definitely, like, lower temp. And I was loving it.
Speaker: I really was. I know. I just love when it gets all crispy out and the leaves are crunching. Yeah, we're we're almost there. And i think when this episode goes live, it will be the first day of fall.
Speaker: so Oh, hell yeah. I'm so excited. So every year we do a fall episode in an attempt to make sure that this episode is not a regurgitation of our past two fall episodes. Yeah.
Speaker: We're switching up the format and we are going to do a fall favorites episode. And so we got like a list of categories. Basically, we're going to go through and give our fall favorites of all of these things, basically.
Speaker: Which I was thrilled about. I like looked it over and I was like, I don't need to prep already now. I know. i ah When I sent you the list, I was like, I know that i could I don't even need to send you the list that you could come onto this mic and have better,
Speaker: like fall favorites than me. Cause you are just like, when I think Whitney, I think fall. Like if you had to tell me to associate you with like four different things, it's fall is one of them for sure. I love that. I almost did that for our emoji post that you did. I almost put a pumpkin on there as like hobby, but then I was like, Oh, I don't know. I, I push it so hard. good Push it pushing.
Speaker: keep pushing But everyone really clung to the corn. So that was funny. Oh, my God. That was so funny. And it really is like that's what everyone clung to. They loved it. I was like, yeah. Every comment was like the corn. The corn.
Speaker: The corn, which still going strong. all Corn is a fall vegetable. Oh, okay. I've only, i mean, y'all know. I've only had the corn on the cob.
Speaker: which was very summery. i guess it is kind of summer too. I actually don't know, but i the corn really made me. Are you thinking of like Thanksgiving? Like a corn husk?
Speaker: No. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I guess like, I think about it in like a corn, like a decor type thing, like corn maze, corn husks, you know?
Speaker: Yeah, totally. Totally. I i get it. So, yeah I'm excited. i feel – okay, when you think of a the season that I am associated with, what is it?
Speaker: I feel like you're summer. Maybe just because you're in Florida, so, like, I think of you as, like, sunshine and warm, and you're always, like, in a two-piece athletic set.
Speaker: I don't know. I just always think of you as summer. know that me. Okay. I love that. I do think I am like a summer girl for sure. Yeah. You're summer. Okay.
Speaker: I love that. You exude that. oh I'm a sunshine, sunshine babe. What do you think your mom is?
Speaker: My mom loves spring. Interesting. What is my mom? And I feel like spring is my least favorite because I'm so sneezy.
Speaker: It's rain in here constantly. I, you know what? I think my mom is also spring. She, the holidays like really stress her out. She's definitely not fall or winter.
Speaker: And i don't necessarily see her as summer, but her birthday's in April. feel like she's a spring, spring chicken. here And my mom's is in May. So maybe that's why they like spring.
Speaker: Yeah. Okay. Wait. So is Chris a fall? Oh my God. I don't know. That's a great question. Yeah. Because he's like not as much into the fall as me. I think he loves like football and like that yeah the vibe and like grilling out and then sitting outside with the TV is like fun. But i don't know, actually.
Speaker: i don't know. I'm thinking about Vinny and I don't know either. i don't know my husband Who are they? Who are you? We're married to strangers.
Speaker: I'm going to have to ask. I've never asked him what his favorite season is, but he'd probably say fall, but don't know. He's such a summery book guy, though. I don't know. Okay. We should... going do this live.
Speaker: Oh, just text and ask? ya Yeah, yeah, I'm going to do this live. What are you saying? What is your... What would you say is... What do you say You say is your season.
Speaker: Is your... Are you saying favorite season or... Like what is your season?
Speaker: Okay.
Speaker: Like what do you come off as?
Speaker: Like not me having to... I feel like I need to be like fall, winter, summer I feel like I need to list them. He's going to be like, huh? That's so funny. He'll be like, um football season.
Speaker: We'll see if he texts back, but. Okay.
Speaker: Okay. Well, we'll see. We'll see what he says. Okay. when they when they ah When they respond. Shall we dive into the favorites? There's a lot of categories here.
Speaker: Yeah, I'm down. Okay. All right. Are we just starting at the top? Do whatever you want. Do we want to bounce around?
Speaker: Okay. Let's bounce around. Chris is already back with his answer. Oh, what did he say? And I was correct. Summer or fall, he said. Which i i got I kind of got that from him.
Speaker: He loves the damn pool more than the kids, more than me. But i like I said, he also likes football. so I know. Vinny liked my other message but didn't give his answer.
Speaker: Boy, we are live. Hurry. He's typing. Okay. Okay. Okay. All right. Let's bounce around. i want to start with i want to start with a food and drink question. Yeah.
Speaker: Because that's just what I want to do. and And I'm going to choose favorite fall dessert. Okay. feel like it's my favorite dessert at all times, but like a pecan pie.
Speaker: I knew you were going to say that. I did. i love a pie. i mean. I love a pie. um i love a pie. I would like this pie in summer, in the winter, but I love pecan pie. Don't get me. I mean, I'll eat an apple pie. I don't want it. wouldn But I love an apple pie.
Speaker: But it's not my fave. My fave is hands down a maple donut. Or just an apple cider donut, a pumpkin donut. I'm like, what is a maple donut?
Speaker: What?
Speaker: What? You don't know. I'm sorry, Whitney. You've never had a maple donut? No, I've had a, uh, whatever. What'd you call it? Apple cider donut? Apple cider donut?
Speaker: I don't like donuts. They're not for me, but. A donut is my favorite. No shit. In the world. What? I don't like them for some reason. I, I mean, I'll like take a nibble.
Speaker: I got offered one yesterday and I was like, uh, uh, I can't. We get donuts. Like we're a donut family. We got donuts for breakfast yesterday. We're a donut fam. Mm-hmm. Interesting. Okay. I didn't know that about you. i didn't know that about you.
Speaker: I actually saw something where like two of best friends were talking and they were like, so what do you talk about with your other friends? literally I literally sat there and i thought, what does Candice talk about with other people?
Speaker: No, literally, what do you talk about with other people? And you better not talk about the same things you talk about with I don't know. i don't know Like, I definitely like, divulge over and divulge with you like yeah I am so inconvenience it's coming to your ear you know like yeah anything that happens i could trip and I'd be like Candace I tripped No, like I'm literally just spilling every bean I have to you.
Speaker: So it's just like word vomit. I feel like you're just my sounding board. And then with other people, it's like, I don't know. I mean, same. I do talk to them about- It's like it yeah it's it's more policed.
Speaker: Like you police the information. yay Yeah, yeah. For sure. Yeah. And there's also, there's also like topics. I talked about the other people that I don't like, I'm not coming to you with Taylor Swift.
Speaker: Yeah. Bullshit. You know, like I'm, that's just not happening. Right. But if like, I don't know. But then there there definitely are pop culture stuff where like I'm coming to you first, you know.
Speaker: So it's just it's it's it depends. It depends on the situation. umm telling you, this happened at work. It was when Nina Dubrov and Sean. That was crazy. Dude.
Speaker: Okay. So I was like in the office that day and I like go, oh, my God. They broke up. And I like said who broke up and like no one was around. And just like a random guy goes, oh, is that this the snowboarder? And I was like, you're not my target audience.
Speaker: Where is You're like, shut up. You don't understand. was like, obviously. I was like, this is a big deal. was like, what is happening? Yeah, they were engaged. And then she made that video. She made a video, didn't she? that he like She took it down, i think.
Speaker: Yeah. Oh, God. What a numbnuts. To be honest, I kind of always thought he was an asshole from what I'd seen, but I thought maybe he had changed and come around. They looked sweet together. know. It did make me sad, too. That is sad. Did you watch the Emmys, by the way?
Speaker: I didn't. but I didn't, but I've, you know, of course, seen my fair share of clips now. and need to watch a little more. i wish I had. i kind of forgot that um the cast of White Lotus was going to be there, so now I'm sad I didn't watch it.
Speaker: um I just saw the biggest thing I was happy about was that Kristen Milioti. I'm not saying her name right. milk Milioti won for the Penguin, which I don't know if you watched the Penguin.
Speaker: oh my God, you got it. It's so good. It's a miniseries and it's like but it's like in the Batman world. Okay. It's very like Mob Wife. Oh my God, it's so good. It's only six episodes, I think. but I've heard of it.
Speaker: Yeah. It was a show Vinny and I for like stumbled into. I don't know how we got there, but ah it was so good and she's incredible in it and she won and I was so happy for her. know. I feel like I like the Emmys because I'm a TV show person. So it's like, damn, I missed the one award show that I know majority of what's going on. So I was like, ah and i realized it too late.
Speaker: um yeah Oh, well. All right. Let's go. Let's go. Do we want more food and drink or bop around some more? Whatever you want. Okay. captain Oh, I want to know this from you.
Speaker: What is your favorite cozy meal to cook at home? o That is such a good question. i have two that come to mind that like I itch about whenever, like I itch to do as soon as the weather gets cooler.
Speaker: And the first is pot roast over mashed potatoes. Oh my God. That is like, That honestly might be a top five favorite meal for me. And I'm telling you, my pot roast is... Do you do like the Mississippi pot roast with the... What mean?
Speaker: It's like they you do the packets of the ranch and then you put the... Is it a pepper on it? Like the green... peppers? No. Oh, that's so yummy.
Speaker: It's kind of rich. Mine is more like onion soupy. Oh, yum. It's so good. It tastes like French onion soup. Oh, but okay. That sounds yum. melts in your mouth. m so good.
Speaker: Um, and then it has to, in my opinion, it has to be over mashed potatoes. Like that's the way to go. And then the second one is I make this, um, like Italian soup, like Italian Tuscan soup. It's kind of like a, I don't know, has chicken. It's a little bit spicy. It's very like Carrabba's chicken soup that I'm obsessed with. Yeah.
Speaker: Yeah. So I'm, I also am just in general, a soup girl. I love soup. I will choose soup. I order soup in the summer, like, but so anything like that is my jam.
Speaker: what about you? I feel like doing mashed potatoes on the pot roast is such a good idea. Chris always buys like those i don't want potatoes you put in there with like the carrots and I'm like it's just and okay. I'm telling you it's not that good.
Speaker: That's such a good idea. Why have I never thought of that? Tell him to skip the potatoes. You can still do the carrots but have it make mashed potatoes and then serve it over.
Speaker: ah What else do you put in there? Carrots and what? ah it's It's an onion base. like it's like It's a lot of onions, but they cook down so much that like yeah they almost disintegrate. That sounds so good.
Speaker: But it's like two packs of onion soup mix, and you have to brown the pot roast before you put it in the crock pot. Get that char on the outside. Wow. And then it's like two packs of onion soup mix, beef broth, and onions.
Speaker: And then you let that cook for like six to eight hours. I can't remember exactly. And then... You put the carrots in for like the last hour and then you serve over mashed potatoes.
Speaker: oh Fuck me up. I want that right now. I'm like, wow, that sounds so good. And and like sometimes I forget to do the crock pot. Like why?
Speaker: I actually don't have one anymore. i We lost it in the flood and I haven't replaced it. So that's I think. Oh, so you haven't made that in a while. ah Yeah. Maybe that's a Christmas gift.
Speaker: I can't wait till Christmas. I need it before then, you know, because that pot roast has to be made when it's when the weather gets chilly. so oh my God. That sounds so good. I'm like obviously not a huge cook. Like I was going to say meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans is usually like my southern comfort food that we make here. And we don't do it with ketchup. We do it with um cream of mushroom soup on top of it.
Speaker: Oh. yeah, it's not like a ketchup-based meatloaf. And I do just the meat with an egg and then breadcrumbs and mix it all together.
Speaker: And then you pour it on top of it. And it's so good. Okay. Yeah. So kind of similar. ah Doing a little switch up there. But That's usually what I make, but I still make, I'll make that year round too. And, um, this is so like bad, but we make the Velveeta cheeseburger, like hamburger helper.
Speaker: And it is, I just like reminds me of a football Saturday. i don't know why, but it's so good.
Speaker: Whatever, whatever floats your boat. Yeah, it is so good. i love it. I like always want to eat that when football's on. I don't know why. maybe my mom made it growing up. Well, this is a good segue because I think we should just stick with the food theme now because I want to know your favorite football potlush potluck dish. like What are you bringing to a football gathering? oh you know it's pizza dip. Always pizza dip.
Speaker: And, um, something that I like when I show up to like a tailgate or a football o party, when someone's made those like like sliders, ham sliders that have like the brushed onion. Oh yeah. yeah Oh, that's like honey. It's there. Like a little sweet.
Speaker: It brings me so much joy when I see that. I'm like, ah they're so good. my God. It's so good. I love those too. Whew. Okay. For me, i mean, I'm staying super classic here, but I love a buffalo chicken dip.
Speaker: Just add dip, girl. Give me a dip and I am happy. i love buffalo chicken dip. I have some in the fridge. like Sometimes I just want that for lunch. Me too. I will eat that for lunch all the time. And you know what? I don't feel bad about it. It's not that bad. It actually has a lot of protein.
Speaker: Okay? It's kind of like a chicken salad. Right. god i might need some for lunch on it i know it's so good ah the costco one my mom just recently bought it it's a little too blue cheesy for me but yeah that's my one thing is i don't love blue cheese so i am she loved it i've never got we're at publix obviously publix is where typically get it and they are so good it's expensive there I've like made it before. Yeah. Well, Publix has gotten out of hand. I could go. i could help I could host a whole podcast episode on that. In fact, yesterday I went to Fresh Market instead of Publix, which is a nicer grocery store than Publix.
Speaker: And it was cheaper. I like Fresh Market. They have those tiny little corn muffins and Graydon loves those. They're so good. i went a little ham though. I bought some, speaking of fall treats, I bought these like chocolate covered like harvest pretzels and they have like cinnamon drizzle. Oh my God.
Speaker: They, Fresh Market does a really good job with holiday themed like treats and stuff. And I like, I like buying their meals and stuff there. Cause they're so good. Like, Oh, their chicken is so thin and crispy anyway. So, um, they do a really good job with like any theme situation. It's, I really like going in there if I'm wanting to get triggered into something fun, like, yeah, yeah.
Speaker: They do a good job with that. This episode is making me hungry.
Speaker: I'm hungry. Okay. Okay. okay yeah um Okay. Last thing on the that little list was like favorite fall cocktail or mocktail. too oh Oh, and a Starbucks thing.
Speaker: ah yeah yeah Okay. Favorite fall cocktail. i have to be honest. I don't know. name I always just love a dirty martini, which is like not really fall. It's just my cocktail choice.
Speaker: Okay, hold on. The other thing going to say is I actually love like an Oktoberfest beer, like a fall beer. Oh, yeah, you do. think that might be my answer. There you go. Mine's that spiced rum drink with like um the spiced apple cider where you heat it up in the crock pot and then you use some rum. It's so good.
Speaker: that those i feel like that can get sneaky. I mean, you know how it ended for me one time ah book club. Yeah.
Speaker: Your girl got toe up at book club because they were serving that there. Lord. You have two of those. You're, you're coasting.
Speaker: yeah yeah yeah Okay. What's your fall coffee order? Fall Starbucks drink. Oh, I guess the PSL. I mean, I don't. Yeah.
Speaker: I mean, what else? am i honest like That's mine, too, is like if I'm to order a folly drink, it's definitely that I don't like anything that's like too sweet or like caramel cookie. Blah, blah, blah. I mean, don't wrong. I do love sweet coffee, but nothing that's like too dessert.
Speaker: What do you get on the rag there? ah ah Vanilla sweet cream cold brew. Oh, that sounds good. I get... So yummy. Matcha.
Speaker: I like their matcha. I don't like matcha. Oh, it settles in my stomach so well. Sometimes, like, can't even drink a full cup of coffee sometimes. Like, I'll drink half.
Speaker: What, like you do-do? i don't know. Why? it's just, I've always been like that. And then it gets cold and I don't want it anymore.
Speaker: Okay. So the ice not even but I how to like goodbye. don't know why that made me laugh. I wasn't. Why couldn't I like transition out of that? I don't know.
Speaker: Anywho. Okay. ah What's next?
Speaker: Cozy activity. Okay. Cozy activity, interesting. Like maybe since this will be like my first fall here at the house, like using the fire pit for once.
Speaker: ah That'll be really fun to have like s'mores. Like we did a little bit in December in January just to like get outside, but it was kind of cold. But I think just bringing the TV out there and maybe watching a movie around the fire sounds really fun.
Speaker: Yeah. Okay. I was going to say the first one that came to my mind was like baking, especially with Alice. Like she's really into like helping me with baking stuff. So I thought, okay, I think that's like a cute, cozy activity that I love to do with her.
Speaker: But then you said football and I like, i think my real answer is just like watching college football on a Saturday. It's so fun. Like this past Saturday, obviously i don't care about UT or Georgia, but I was like so locked in on that game because it was so good. And it was actually really fun. It was good.
Speaker: it was good. I watched it too. um And it was nice not to like worry about either team because I'm like, I don't really care. Obviously you like more so rooting for UT because I live here, but what a good game. I was so so into that. That was fun.
Speaker: Yeah. Okay. Favorite place to see fall vibes. Like it could be a local spot or it could be travel. new i know your answer. What do you want from me? What do you want from me?
Speaker: Yeah. I think mine would be Maine. Like when I went to the fall, when I was in Maine and it was like October, September time, i remember being there and be like, wow, this is like what I see in the movies for fall. Like it's so gorgeous.
Speaker: It's so nice. And that's like if I could – snap my fingers and be somewhere in the fall, I think it'd be somewhere up there, which I guess is that New England? I don't know. Yes. um So many people are ah like that. I've talked to their like family is in Maine right now hanging out. I'm like, wow, perfect timing to go up there. so nice.
Speaker: That is so nice. um Favorite fall bucket list item. a
Speaker: Okay. I think mine is, um, So standard. And it's just a good old pumpkin patch. Honestly, i will say Vinny and I were laughing our asses off in the car yesterday, reminiscing on last year because, and it's so great that we can like laugh about,
Speaker: last fall because like in the moment it was such a bad time for us. But we were living at my mom's and we were like trying to get some fall vibes and like try to do something fun for the girls because we were displaced and under a lot of stress and like a lot of unknowns.
Speaker: And we were scrolling through the photos of that like fall farm we went to last year. And oh my God, we were... laughing about it so hard because it was so miserable and it was so hot it was like 95 degrees and we were at this fall festival and all the photos we took I don't think I ever post a single one because we were all just sweating Alice was so upset Evie looked so small she I couldn't get over how small she was last year
Speaker: And it was just we were just reminiscing on how like awful it was and also how just like terrible our life was at last fall and how we're like, OK, we're going to redo this year and hope for better.
Speaker: But on the whole, it's a pumpkin patch. I love going to the pumpkin patch with the girls and picking out a pumpkin. Yeah. I 10 out of 10 agree.
Speaker: The pump patch is where it's at. And don't you just feel so excited to go? Like yeah the kids could be kicking and screaming to get in the car and I'd still be like jovial. I'd be like...
Speaker: I don't care. I'm so excited to go myself. Like, I know your attitudes are going to turn around once we get there, but it is so true. If you go too early, it can be pretty hot. And you're like, I'm just trying to wear my plaid in peace and now I'm sweating my ass off. And i don't know, but you can't help it. You want to go early because it's fun. know you're excited.
Speaker: And also, yeah if you're like me, like I need pumpkins. So it's like, I want to put them on my porch. You know, but I, ah ah wait, I had something else to say and now it's completely escaped me.
Speaker: We have like a few things here. we have Cheekwood, which does like a big fall situation where they like build houses out of pumpkins. So we'll probably go do that. And we did that on um like Graydon's, like around Graydon's birthday last year. So like pretty early, maybe like the first of October. And then we did the pumpkin peach, peach, pumpkin patch, like the pumpkin peach, like a week or so later. So Your weekends are just filled. i'm You know what I'm looking forward to is when they're in school and have an actual like fall festival.
Speaker: Oh, my God. That sounds funny. Yeah. So, okay. I remember what I was going to say. And it's that I think this year is going to be even better because looking back at last year, Evie was what? Nine months-ish? Yeah.
Speaker: And so she was still like pretty small and in a stroller and couldn't walk. And now at this moment, like Evie's a runner. She loves to run. And so I've been saving all these like fall farm places. And I'm like, I like love that we could go there and just be like – fine if they run great and I think it'll be even more fun this year that's kind of yeah um for sure when we went like when I went to go watch this UT Georgia game I went to my old neighbor's house and you kind of like all congregate in the garage and you watch and like the kids kind of run around in the cul-de-sac it's like
Speaker: in a hill you can see if a kid's gonna like run past you up the hill and you're like whoa where are you going but all the kids are kind of like congregating and margo is like you know at that age she's such on the move i like felt like i couldn't concentrate what was happening because she's still so young like i kind of didn't trust her being alone so much yeah and i was like in between finding them in the backyard and then coming back and then she'd walk up i'm like oh my god where'd you come from like I didn't have my eye on her so and was like oh my god she's at that age where she's like almost there yeah and like some of the older kids were keeping an eye on her like I didn't abandon my child but I was just like whoo I was busy because I was alone and I'm like okay this was this is easier with Chris around but yeah yeah it's so hard on your own believe me I get it
Speaker: Yeah, so I mean, it was fun. She had a fun like they both had fun, but I was just like, whoo, I'm all over the place keeping up with them. Okay, so let's do what's your favorite fall candle scent?
Speaker: Um, I don't like anything appley. I have something here and it was, I don't even know like what it is. I think it just smells like cinnamon-y, but not like not red hot cinnamon. And it's like, um, I can't even describe it. I don't know what it is.
Speaker: I got it from Target. I love it. I am very particular about fall candle scents because I hate anything cinnamon. It is like fireball to me yeah i like I don't like that.
Speaker: I could vomit thinking about it, truly. And then I also hate anything like vanilla or ah like yeah like sweet smelling. so But I do love apple.
Speaker: Yeah. But it needs to be like a very – it needs to be more of like an earthy apple ah situation. But to be honest, I a lot of the time don't buy a ton of fall candles. I'm much more of a Christmas. I'm a pine. Give me that pine smelling candle.
Speaker: My dog has the zoomies and he is sprinting around. My favorite candle is from West Elm and it's called like white something. But I bought them when they were on sale. They're huge. Giant ones.
Speaker: They're huge, huge, huge. And they they i had one that's lasted two years. It's probably going to last this year. And then I have another one just in stock because I bought them when they were half off. Oh, my God. It is the best smelling candle on earth.
Speaker: I love those giant candles. I've bought some giant ones from Anthropologie and they will literally last like a year. It's so crazy. They're so good. So good. Yeah. Okay. We're switching gears.
Speaker: Switching gears. Favorite fall fashion trend.
Speaker: Hmm.
Speaker: This is tough because I feel like trend is throwing me because I kind of feel like all the fall fashions that I love aren't really trends. They're just like classic fall things I love.
Speaker: Like I love a brown boot. like And then the other thing I was going to say was I love – um This year, i guess this is kind of trendy. I think I'm seeing a lot of corduroy being served to me and I'm kind of into it this year. I'm like, I think I want like a cute little corduroy skirt or corduroy pant.
Speaker: mm-hmm that is cute i like corduroy too velvety looking it's so nice um yo i love a sweater i know that's what i mean well specifically i like a turtleneck but it's a little hot for a turtleneck but mock neck I love anything.
Speaker: but I love, I've always just loved a big comfy outfit. That's my favorite. also love scarves. If I've had to pick like an accessory, love a hat.
Speaker: I love a boot. I love a bear. I love French.
Speaker: Okay. Favorite fall color to wear.
Speaker: I love brown. I love black.
Speaker: You don't mind. You can guess. Yellow. Mustard yellow. yeah is go to say Oh, yeah. Remember when we were joking about a mustard yellow um turtleneck and then someone was wearing it literally and I was just like, what the hell? I've never seen one in my life.
Speaker: I like just pop back in my memory. That is so funny. um What's yours? ah brown Brown. i love brown. yeah Yeah. I like it goes well with my like skin tone and hair. And then like I do like a black eye and I just feel like really chic when I do that.
Speaker: Totally. Love, love, love. love I don't know. Okay. Favorite fall beauty swap, lip color, nail polish, skincare. Okay. I'm kind of into this question. Okay. You tell me.
Speaker: Okay. Well, nail color is definitely one. Like I am a bright red, orange girl in the summer, but during fall, like I love Merlot, burgundy, or if i'm like that super, super dark color.
Speaker: blue that almost looks black. I can't. ah It's hard to explain. It's midnight something from OPI. Midnight something. I'm fully in agreeance on that.
Speaker: Yeah. And then my other thing is for makeup, obviously like a little bit of a more like ah plum lip is beautiful in the fall.
Speaker: And yeah, love. Yeah. I don't change my face, but for nails, I'll usually paint them black on like during my birthday week.
Speaker: h Love. got to go spooky. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. And now on to family and traditions. bum bump ah Favorite fall activity with kids. We kind of said pumpkin. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Favorite Halloween tradition.
Speaker: Okay. Oh, my God. Okay. That's hard. I feel like for me, we haven't like solidified them yet with our kids. Like we between like Alice was still so young.
Speaker: for and then last year we didn't get to really do Halloween because we were displaced and like whatever. So I feel like it's still in the making for us. But yeah.
Speaker: My hope is to like have some Halloween themed foods and like have a bunch of people over and then trick or treat around the neighborhood with our neighbors. Like I really want there to be like a neighborhood feel.
Speaker: And this will be our first Halloween in this new neighborhood. So I'm excited to see the vibes. Oh, exciting. That's like when I started to meet neighbors was when I started trick or treating and we yeah got pretty close after that.
Speaker: um I'd say for us, this actually just happened recently. This was like the first year I i got like the kids involved and we pulled out the decorations together and i let them put like pumpkins in different places around the house. I'm like, Rayden, where do you think this should go? And he's like, let's put this in the playroom. So he was like helping me decorate. Oh, that's so cute. I love that. And like them pulling, him pulling out like old decorations. He was like,
Speaker: oh, my skeleton, blah, blah, blah. And he was so excited. So that was really fun. um we were in our old house last Halloween. So we haven't like brought anything out outside yet because it's still kind of early, but we'll likely do that like towards the end of the month because we're hosting Graydon's birthday party here. So you got to pull everything out, all the stops.
Speaker: And then um i'd say like We're probably going to go back to our old house for trick-or-treating just because like it has been so it was so fun over there. The houses are pretty close together. So it's easy for like a toddler to hop from house to house. Yeah.
Speaker: um And since there's like a little cohort of kids, they all like just go together and then the parents get to watch. And it's just so nice. fun and the adults are very involved so and everyone's like super into decorating so I just think we'll go back there um and yeah it's just so fun i went to Home Depot over the weekend for a project that I was doing and the Halloween decor there was so intense like to the point where I was like I'm scared like I know it
Speaker: It was great. The stuff I was seeing, I was like, this is crazy. And then I watched this. I watched this mom. She like was picked picking up this horrifying looking. i don't even fucking know what it was. It was like ah demon being. And she was like putting it into her car. And I'm just like that. I don't think will ever be me. Like, I just am not drawn to like the super spooky scary Halloween stuff like I'm always gonna lean fall cutesy I think yeah but i I was shocked at the decor and how like
Speaker: Scary it was. It's kind of surprising. Like, they know that dad, like, do you know, their target audience is like men, obviously. So like, maybe that's why, but also they have like little kid classes on the weekends for children. It's so funny. Vinny just said he wants to take Alice to that. Yeah. So it's like,
Speaker: That might be kind of scary for some people, like little kids. Well, like we ended up going back to Home Depot because I'll have to tell you about this another time, but like my project was more complicated than I thought. And so Vinny had to go back with me and we had to exchange some things because Well, you tipped it.
Speaker: ah Yeah, it was – I mean, do I want to talk about it on here just skip it? I don't know. Up to you. ah Anyways, I'm creating – okay, fine. I'll give you all a little – going to make this quick.
Speaker: I'm making a giant pin board for the wall in my office, and I saw this girl on Instagram do it with an a sheet of insulation because it's actually quite expensive to buy a giant – especially a custom size like bulletin board.
Speaker: And I saw this girl take a piece of insulation and then wrap it in fabric and it made like the cutest. use anyway So I did that and Vinny told me if you go, they will custom cut the insulation for you to the size you want. I was like, great.
Speaker: I walk in there by myself. I asked the man. He's like, we don't do that. And I was like, what? And he was like, no, we only cut wood. We will not cut the insulation for you. It's fiberglass. We won't do it. And I was like...
Speaker: Fine. So he was like, why don't you buy these three small sheets and you can put them together? And I was like, fine. So I bought that and then I brought it home and Vinny's like, this ain't going to work. So he, we went back, exchanged the sheets, bought the giant one and cut it in the parking lot because it's huge and you can't like, it wouldn't fit in anyone's car.
Speaker: So anyways, now I have two giant here. Look, they're sitting there right next to me. Oh my God. Cause we cut it in half. um But anyways, I'm wrapping them or we're hanging it tonight. So. Yay! can't wait to see.
Speaker: It's all good. it we it worked out, but we did end up having to go back. But Alice was – and Evie were with us when we went back. And Alice saw all the scary Halloween stuff. And she was like, Mommy, that's scary. It's also – the The way that things have become giant. I'm sorry. There was a skeleton that was like touching the ceiling of the Home Depot.
Speaker: You know, it's funny because this time last year is when I got rid of Graydon's Passy and like. Oh my God. and PTSD. Right. But it's also when a lot of this Halloween stuff comes out and Graydon is like a Halloween guy. But when it comes to some of the scary stuff, he's actually scared and he's starting to say he's scared a lot again. And it's I was like, it's this fucking time of year.
Speaker: He's actually like scared of all this spooky shit. And i was like, oh, here we go again. Like, he's going to start getting out of his bed. He's already been saying that he's scared. And like, every time, man, he thinks he's this Halloween guy. and Maybe he ain't.
Speaker: He needs Santa Claus. Santa Claus is much less scary. For real. um Did I tell you about how when Alice woke up the other night or like the other morning, she said that she was she said, get up, mom, we're going to play witches.
Speaker: I was like, excuse me? I was like, you need I'm going to send you to Auntie Whitney because that is not for me. I'm not over here playing witches. um And I was like, where the freak did you learn that? Like, I don't, we are not a family that like talks about witches.
Speaker: And then of course she said at school. And I was like, girl, you go to a Christian school. i was going to say over there talking about witches is a, does she watch Vampirina on Disney? She does sometimes. It's not often, but sometimes sometimes.
Speaker: feel like that's a cutesy Halloween show. Yeah. We like, we like Vampirina. I like, I, I approve of Vampirina. Yeah. So good. Fancy Nancy on the other hand, that bitch. No, I've never seen it.
Speaker: Oh, so she's so sassy to her parents. We, we banned it in our house. Dang. Cause we just started to see that she was talking to us and to, Evie the way that fancy Nancy talks to her parents and her sister.
Speaker: And I was like, m you done in this household. Yeah. Okay. Let's keep going. Okay. Favorite fall movie pick.
Speaker: Hmm. What's it called? I can't think of what it's called. That's why it's holding me up. Okay. I'm going James and the Giant Peach. You love that movie. I love that movie.
Speaker: I love that movie too, though. like You're not wrong for the um the other My other option is like so boring. Classic Hocus Pocus. It's so good.
Speaker: Yeah. Hocus Pocus is so good. That came to mind. What's the Nicole Kidman movie? and Were there like witches?
Speaker: Or she has powers? Yeah. Be bewitched. No. Damn. I said that so confidently. Even though i have seen that.
Speaker: i haven't. Isn't she played bewitched? She does. Oh, okay. But it's with, what's the other Sandra Bullock? oh magic. Something magic. Yeah. Something magic.
Speaker: I really like this movie, apparently.
Speaker: but ah Practical Magic. Practical Magic. I've never seen that. You know, I watched it for the first time last year, and I want to watch it again. Okay, I will be adding that.
Speaker: It's giving that Julia Roberts old movie vibe, and it's very fall-focused, so I'm like, hmm. Yeah. um Well, I, you know, ever since I watched Stepmom a couple weeks ago, I've been like, okay, I want to dive. i just think I want to have an old movie marathon. Like I'm not allowed to watch anything that was filmed after the year 2000.
Speaker: Yeah. Okay. Let me know what's on your list. I will. I'm going to make a list. Well, I'm going to have GBT make me a that Yeah. And you can type like gives Julia Roberts practical magic vibes.
Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. Oh, you'll have to tell me what it says. Tell me what it says. Okay. I think this is the last one. Okay. Which is favorite fall playlist or artist.
Speaker: Oh, my God.
Speaker: I don't know. Mine is Taylor Swift because The Life of a Showgirl comes out October 3rd. And that is what I will be listening to all fall long, I'm sure. Plus, Taylor so Swift does have some good fall stuff with Folklore Nevermore. It's giving by the fire, like drinking a cocktail vibes.
Speaker: I was like, I don't know if I've ever had like The only like thing I switch up music-wise is like around Christmas and I will play it till it is like... into the ground i played christmas music yeah i love christmas music so much but i was like i mean i used to i grew up with a monster mash cd that was bumping i mean it had monster mash goosebumps love potion number nine like all the classics that was so fun loved it so fun ah
Speaker: I love the fall. I really do. And every single fall, I think to myself, I need to start like making a like constant in my schedule that I'm going somewhere with fall vibes every fall because we don't get a ton of that here in Florida. And again, I'm entering another fall without plans of doing that.
Speaker: So I don't know. I got to i gotta to figure something yeah I know. I need to. Just go somewhere like New York in end of October, early November.
Speaker: i would love that. That sounds fun. i and need I need to chill in the air. ah think you were there last Halloween, right? Didn't you go to New York? You went like at some point.
Speaker: Last fall was like after the hurricane. i definitely was not going anywhere. Yeah. But I definitely have been to New York in the fall in the past.
Speaker: I feel like that's such a fun time to be there. Yeah. So nice. All the pumpkins on the stoops. Oh, so nice. Well, this has been so fun. I always love our fall episodes. I feel like it gets me in the spirit.
Speaker: And also this one made me so hungry. i It's lunchtime and I'm ready to go. I'm starving. All right. Well, I love you guys. Love you. Bye.
