Episode 10 is a very special in-person episode, which means it’s part podcast, part girls trip recap, part absolute chaos. We talk delayed flights, airport suffering, burgers, sushi, Whole Foods magic, shopping till we dropped, collagen face masks, whipped cream coffee foam, and the fact that we are still pretending this was a legitimate business trip. Basically, two feral besties in the same house trying to record before one of us has to catch a flight and go straight back to real life.

In-Person Recording and Sparkling Rosé

00:00:00
Felicia Devine
Okay. so Hello and welcome back to episode 10.
00:00:08
Felicia Devine
if you're If you're not a watcher, but you're just a listener, you are missing out on the fact that Natalia and I are in person. In the same house. Studio.
00:00:20
Felicia Devine
Dining room. Drinking N.A. Rosé. Champagne Rosé. What is it It's like sparkling Rosé. Sparkling... And a rosé with a dog crinkling a toy in the background. Josephine, come here.
00:00:38
Felicia Devine
Par for the course. So Feeney has a skunk. All right. So we're going to talk a little bit and recap a little bit about our trip because it is sadly coming to an end tomorrow morning as Natalie has to fly back to Chicago and see Patience tomorrow afternoon. Yes. Because that is the life of a showgirl. That is.
00:00:55
Felicia Devine
I never do this, by the way. I never go on a trip and say, oh yeah, I'll just come home on a Monday morning and do like an afternoon shift. would never. That is not me. I would literally never. I don't think I could stand being airplane dirty. I know. And going to work. I know.
00:01:13
Felicia Devine
That's my only thing. I'm like, oh, not sure about this. um So I'll report back on how terrible it was. Yeah. Room for cancellation. Yeah. Right. If anybody feels like canceling.
00:01:25
Felicia Devine
If you're listening. Nobody will hear this. Oh, this won't air until Wednesday. You won't know. um um But i I definitely don't usually do that. Right. But it would have cut one day, like one night off. Right. Of me being here. Yeah. And she has to pay for this trip somehow. Somehow. Yeah.
00:01:43
Felicia Devine
We have to podcast somehow. This has to count as a business trip. This is a business expense. Oh, my gosh. Okay, so Natalie, tell us how your travel date went.

Travel Delays and Frustrations

00:01:54
Felicia Devine
So getting here on Friday, i had the wonderful idea to have like take like a nice 11 o'clock flight to get here, which was good because Kyle That's not too early. Kyle was coming off of being at work, so I also knew I couldn't go at like 5 a.m. m Yeah. so I had to do something reasonable. Right.
00:02:14
Felicia Devine
So get there. I'm driving to the airport. It is a monsoon on the way to the airport. Yes. Oh, I didn't know that. So bad. But it was like rain. Like there wasn't lightning that I could see.
00:02:28
Felicia Devine
Safe conditions. No. The airport had a different recollection. Oh, is that where your delays were coming from? It was part of it, I think, was Chicago. Part of it is that United is terrible. Part of it is that Nashville had like, I don't know if they had a tornado or something. They had something. Oh, I didn't know it season they had the plane I was supposed to be on was delayed Nashville.
00:02:51
Felicia Devine
That was the story. Oh, man. That's what they were telling the people. That was the story. Okay. I don't know if that's true or not. I don't believe in a word that they say.
00:03:03
Felicia Devine
ship yeah To be honest. No, they just blow smoke. So how many- it was like, the first one was like a, maybe like a 40 minute delay. Okay. It was like, okay. Were you sitting at 40 minutes. Sure. yeah And first of all, they I couldn't go into the lounge because- Because they didn't allow day passes. And I was like, really? I will pay $60. You're like, really I will panhandle outside of this. um And then, so they announced the first one, I think, on while I was in the car still.
00:03:28
Felicia Devine
I was like, okay, I'll take my time. yeah I don't have to rush at the parking place, whatever. And then i get in there and I'm like, okay, we have like 20 minutes to boarding. And then it's like, oh, sorry, you're delayed another hour and a half. And then it's another 45 minutes after that. And then it wast it was at least four different times that we got a text about it. But it was like ah accumulating to be about it took about four extra hours, I think. That's an entire day. It's an entire day. Wait. So I got I left my house at 8
00:04:02
Felicia Devine
I got here 8 p.m. And i I could have driven here in 11 hours. Yeah. So that was dumb. Yeah, because we you you lost an hour. So yeah, 11 hours. It would have yes. That's crazy.
00:04:17
Felicia Devine
Oh. So it next time I might just drive, I don't know. Yeah. And as we said today, we adjusted each other today. And I was like, it is worth the 11-hour drive. Yeah. Yeah. truthfully, it is worth the 11 hour drive. It was lovely. We got to adjust each other for, I haven't been adjusted by you in like years. It's been a long, it's been since your baby shower. Wait, did you adjust me? So we must have gone to my office. we must have, right? We were trying to decide when the last time Natalie was at my office was. I'm pretty sure. It was probably my baby shower. I'm pretty sure we went there at some point. I don't know why. i know. I don't know why we wouldn't have. I don't know. So, okay. So that was my day Natalie got in at 8 PM and we grilled big old burgers yeah that night. It was delicious. We had a fun little evening and we started a documentary.

Watching 'Evil Genius' Documentary

00:05:00
Felicia Devine
Oh yes. Now this documentary came out in 2018, I think, or 2019. It's on Netflix. It's called Evil Genius. And it's about the Erie, Pennsylvania pizza bomber. Now, when we started this, you and Dan both look at each other and you go, we've seen this before. I'm pretty sure we've seen this. However, don't remember how many pieces of it? I remembered zero. Zero pieces. i remember the thought I remember the thought of, I've seen this. the first And the first scene is so graphic.
00:05:32
Felicia Devine
It's pretty I mean, it's graphic in the sense that you know it's going happen. Yeah. Essentially, this guy was a pizza delivery man, got swindled into delivering pizza at a very sketchy location, and bomb was strapped to his neck, and he was forced to rob a bank. So it's this whole scheme of, like, who did who done it.
00:05:53
Felicia Devine
It's a whole who done Who was in on it and who's The mind behind it. Yeah. The evil genius. and So every night we've been watching an episode or two. so we have we have one left? I think we have one left and it's our our grand finale tonight. Yeah. so we've been watching that and then we also had a full girls day

Shopping and Whole Foods Adventure

00:06:12
Felicia Devine
yesterday. we did. we did so We had so much fun yesterday. was blast. How did we start out? Oh, we started out by making this coffee situation. Oh, I was like, where? That was so good.
00:06:24
Felicia Devine
Here. Here. No, that was at night. Did we do it at like PM? Yeah. That was the PM coffee because we bought the cream. Shoot. You're right. But you're right. We did make a good coffee. yesterday Backing up. But we did start. How did we start our morning?
00:06:39
Felicia Devine
Oh, we had eggs. Oh, and we muscle tested. That's right. We muscle tested our supplements. We were muscle testing our supplements. We took our supplements. Then we Natalie made- we that yet? No. okay We will. By the time you hear this, we will have posted it. um And then we Natalie made me her famous ah butter eggs, scrambled a low Slow churned. Slow churned. Slow churned eggs. So much love goes into these scrambled eggs. It takes way too long. but and you can't leave the stove. So we made those and then we went shopping. In person. In person. Like a lot of shopping. We shopped till we dropped. We did.
00:07:17
Felicia Devine
And we took a pit stop at Whole Foods and got a few snacks. Oh, yes. I got to show Felicia what ah a brand name Whole Foods looks like. What OG Whole Foods looks like. And she was- i was in awe. In awe, right? Like it's a different experience. I don't know if I would have gone in there thinking- Like, unless you would have told me it is normal to, ah like, it's affordable pricing. Right. I would have always assumed that it's... I wasn't in the right tax bracket. Right.
00:07:49
Felicia Devine
I didn't belong there. And as I've said before, it was that way. Yeah. For sure. it it's not i mean It's still okay. But I guess you're right. Everything's expensive. More than the average Aldi trip, yes, it's going to be more expensive. But we're not getting Aldi-style food. yeah like it's It's like the top tier food that you can buy in the United States. They have a cheesery. I don't think it's called that. What's it called?
00:08:15
Felicia Devine
I don't know what that would be. i love that name of it. All I can think of is cheesemonger. Is that a thing? I know it's a fishmonger, but is it a cheesemonger? monger? Exactly. What does a monger do?
00:08:26
Felicia Devine
What do they do? It's the person behind the... The the cabinet? that a thing? ah cheesemonger? i don't know. Cheese... I'm going to look it up in the real time. Natalie loves finding the answer. I love just saying, I don't know. i don't know I'm moving on. I have to know because then if I ever have to say it again, I need to know what I'm oh no talking about. I will never bring this up again. cheesemonger is a specialized retailer who sources, cares for, and sells cheese, acting as an expert liaison between producers and consumers.
00:08:58
Felicia Devine
I would say that's what it is because they have How do spell monger? M-O-N-G-E-R. All right. I might have to use that then. See, I'm the type of girl that if I don't know the answer, I'm probably not looking it up and I'm never bringing it back up.
00:09:10
Felicia Devine
I don't know this topic. If I didn't know it was called a cheese monger, I would, I would never tell the cheese story at Whole Foods ever again. And now that's like in the back of brain. And now I will. Now going to promote Whole Foods and say, guys have a cheese monger. At least I think they did. That looked very much like a cheese department. He was in a white coat, like wrapping cheese, gigantic cheese wheels. And I know nothing about cheese. So that might for me. a whole grass-fed beef section in there, butcher. No, it was lovely. So then we did well, we went to Nordstrom Rack. Oh, yeah.
00:09:42
Felicia Devine
And I think clothing there is a little too mature. gone downhill. I think what's happening there's brands that are making things just for Nordstrom Rack. It's not necessarily something that is sold in Nordstrom. Okay, because it used to be It used be. it didn't sell in Nordstrom, it would move to the rack. Yeah. That's the difference So was still high quality. Now it's like Ross. It felt Ross to me. maybe touched two clothing items that were made of natural fibers. Yeah. And that was like, nope. And I bought one of them.
00:10:15
Felicia Devine
Seriously. Well, honestly, my linen outfit is lined with polyester. then what's Anyway. Whatever. So we went to Nordstrom Rack and less than impressed. um Whole Foods. And then we went to the Park City Mall.
00:10:32
Felicia Devine
I took Natalie to Park City. Okay, guys. which We actually went skiing this week. We were joking and telling people we were going go to actual Park City, but we just went to the mall. So the Park City mall was popping. It was busy. And we went to Natalie took me to the loft for the first time. yeah The loft. Loft.
00:10:54
Felicia Devine
It used to be the loft. now Now it's rebranded to loft. Okay. Well, the rebrand was healthy for it. Rebrand is good. Because the clothing is exactly what a mid thirties girly wants. Yes.
00:11:08
Felicia Devine
It's like mid thirties. fashionable but not booty cheeks and not a fit is it's just right superb the fit it's a mature fit but like well fit for i don't know i am i describing it but it had like some details that are like oh that's not like you're not matronly but not matronly yeah what lane bryant is right what are we talking i don't know um and taylor no is that the same brand chicos yeah okay It was not giving Chico's. It was giving in between Forever 21 Dillard's.
00:11:43
Felicia Devine
I would agree. It's more along the lines of like the Dillard's brands that they have. Yeah. But like, again, Dillard's is still too matronly for me. A lot of them are. Mm-hmm. So it was lovely. Prices were a steal. Steal. They just kept saying, oh, that's 50% off. Oh, that's another 30% off. Well, it's one of those stores that like marks up the tag oh really high. it's like a whole naked right So that they can give you Kohl's cash.
00:12:07
Felicia Devine
Which they did, you guys. They lost cash. They're like, it's just like Kohl's cash. And we're like, who's in your branding department? Because they just stole Kohl's whole identity. um i don't know if they're allowed to call it that.
00:12:19
Felicia Devine
So we did the loft and then we came home and tell them about the

Luxurious Coffee Creation

00:12:22
Felicia Devine
coffees we made. Oh my goodness. Okay. So we went Whole We'll make you one before you leave. Yeah, I need one. Okay. We went to Whole Foods and we got this lovely heavy cream because organic we were going to make cinnamon rolls. And I told Felicia, you have to drizzle some heavy cream over the cinnamon rolls before you bake them to create this marvelous texture it's who the cinnamon roll. Unbelievable. Just believable in case anybody needs to know that.
00:12:49
Felicia Devine
Because anybody's like, oh, I should be making cinnamon rolls. So we had to get heavy cream. And they only have maybe like one cream that doesn't have gums in it these days. It's ridiculous.
00:13:02
Felicia Devine
So we found one heavy cream that didn't have gum in it. And we brought a cooler because I had to pump on our journey. That's true. So we already had a cooler and an ice pack. So this this heavy cream lasted.
00:13:13
Felicia Devine
So then we're making our Nespresso like off coffee. Like a set seven ounces, I think is what we determined. Yeah, Nespresso to come out of there. Yeah.
00:13:26
Felicia Devine
And we frothed up the whipped cream, not to the point that it's like what whipped cream, but it's like it's like if you've ever gotten the Starbucks like cold foam. That has poison in it. That's literal poison foam.
00:13:43
Felicia Devine
Cold poison foam. but It's like that, but better. And you don't have to put it's sweet a little bit because of the cream is like such high quality. And then you drizzle it over the top. It's like frothed butter. Yes. And it stays on the top because it's so thick. Yeah. And then you slipper your coffee, but you also get some of the cream at the same time. So we had coffees at what, 4.30? Yeah. Maybe that's why I couldn't go to sleep. You couldn't sleep. i mean, I could. it just I fell asleep within and one minute. I'm ah two hours off still though. Yeah.
00:14:13
Felicia Devine
So if I'm used to going to bed at 10.30 my time, 12.30 currently. my time that's twelve thirty here currently Because of the time change and the time change.
00:14:24
Felicia Devine
We've had a double time change here. Natalie's been transported through time. We had a one-hour time change for the time zone. And then then a one-hour time jump. The daylight savings. oh you're gonna Tomorrow's going to be rough for you. So now i'm tomorrow morning, essentially, I'm waking up at 4 a.m.
00:14:40
Felicia Devine
No, you're leaving at 4.30. Yeah, 4.30. To me. And then you're working. Yeah. Well, you know. Discount those. It's never going to happen again. i'm never going to do this again.
00:14:51
Felicia Devine
Honestly, we've all made regrets. Most of my regrets come in the form of I work before a trip. So like say we're going to the airport. Yeah, that's what I too. I work until the minute we leave for the airport. I do too, which is so stupid. Or like if we drive up to Vermont.
00:15:06
Felicia Devine
I will work until 6.30. I'll leave it at 7.30 to go to Vermont. In my head when I'm planning it, I'm like, oh it's great. I have a trip. I can work as much as I would usually. plus more. Or what I can before the trip.
00:15:20
Felicia Devine
And then somehow when it gets to that point, I'm like, why do I do this every time? Every time. The same mistake I make is every single Thanksgiving up until this past year, we've worked a full day.
00:15:31
Felicia Devine
On Wednesday? On Wednesday. oh No one else in their right mind. And nobody else is open. oh We're the only people open. People are canceling on us because they're already getting drunk to go out. then like People are checked out. Their family's there. They're making pies. They're like, oh, forgot about my appointment. So this year was the first year we were ever like, and cutting that as a half day. And it was lovely. I wasn't there.
00:15:53
Felicia Devine
I'm really, I'm hoping this year too, the week between Christmas and new year's, I can just be like, I'm sorry, I'm done. I've, This year was weird. Actually, this year I did work because this is the first year that we were in Pennsylvania for Christmas. I did too.
00:16:06
Felicia Devine
But I don't know if I'll ever do that again. Part of it is like, what else am I going to be doing? I know. Part of it is like, I don't want to be here, but I did like abbreviated hours. We'll have to. wellll We'll get there. because what What is it? February? No, it's March. It's March. You guys, it's March. We have some time. Okay. So we made these lovely coffees and then we ordered so much sushi and Oh, you're right. Yeah. We

Pickles and Sandwiches

00:16:29
Felicia Devine
had sushi. Gosh, these days have been so long.
00:16:32
Felicia Devine
we i feel like something else happened in between there yesterday. What did we do? Maybe not. No, we shopped till we dropped. We shopped till we dropped. We ate bagel sandwiches. Oh, yes. We made homemade sandwiches. We made homemade sandwiches. I got Natalie re-hooked on pickles.
00:16:46
Felicia Devine
Yeah. Hooked for the first time. oh I thought you used to like them. no You've never liked pickles. I converted her. No, but these are like Grillo's pickles. They're like so fresh, so crunchy. No dies. Love them. Okay. So we've eaten pickles for almost every meal. We have actually. Okay. And then we, oh then we did our face masks last night. Oh, I don't know how well they worked because honestly they weren't really stuck to our faces by the end of all of the laughing we were doing. If we laughed, they slid off of our faces. We did these like collagen, like dry on masks.
00:17:21
Felicia Devine
It's a giant jelly mask and then it dries and it like attaches to your face as it's drying, but we couldn't stop laughing. Within two hours though. Yeah. You had to sit with it for two hours. We sit with This is like slow food. And like keep our mouths closed like not laugh. It's like fondue for face. For two hours. So we tried to behave and watch our evil genius, but we still were laughing. If anyone wants to laugh, go watch our video on Instagram. Yeah, we do post on Instagram. so funny.

Amusing Face Mask Experience

00:17:49
Felicia Devine
And then this morning we had our photo shoot. Yeah, that was amazing. So stay tuned for an updated cover shoot or like podcast cover. In general. Yeah, like online content.
00:18:00
Felicia Devine
And then we went out to brunch. Yeah. yes Oh my God. We've talked so much. look We need to do this more often so we don't want to rush around. Look at us. And now we're podcasting. Okay. We almost didn't do this.
00:18:12
Felicia Devine
We forced ourselves. We just ate a gigantic dinner and we're like, we have to do this. Full disclosure. I'm like, really? We're going to see each other again and we're not going podcast again? i know. We were supposed to podcast in Florida. No way in any world was that happening.
00:18:25
Felicia Devine
I honestly think we should not have it as a goal when we see each other because- It just can't be because we talk the whole time. Well, and then we're like, oh, that could have been a podcast content. And half of the conversations we had are not could have been recording ourselves. no But also we cannot post on the internet.
00:18:43
Felicia Devine
Some of the things we are disclosing are not for public ears. Nope. A lot of that is like office stuff. um, behind the scenes business stuff that nobody needs to hear. um taxes, or open books, but not that open. We're not that open because a lot of our patients listen to these and we don't want to like disclose behind the scenes.
00:19:04
Felicia Devine
Um, yeah. And then like a bunch of personal life stuff. So it's been fun. It's been so fun, but Natalie leaves tomorrow morning and i'm very sad. Um, but we will resume normal, um, separate house podcasting next week when we actually have a week's worth of stuff to catch up on I know.

Podcast Wrap-Up and Future Plans

00:19:20
Felicia Devine
It's like, what are we talking about?
00:19:22
Felicia Devine
But we told ourselves we do 20 minutes and here we are coming up on 20 minutes. Look at us. I love this. So Natalie, I think we've talked about everything now. Everything can ever talk about. Now I don't have to see you until the rest of the night.
00:19:37
Felicia Devine
Just kidding. have to go put my son to bed and then we will finish Evil Genius. Yes. So if you haven't watched it, it's on Netflix and it's a great, a great watch. All right. We will see you next time.
00:19:47
Felicia Devine
Bye. Bye.
